Beginner travel course. What you need to know when going on a business trip. What you need to know when traveling to Italy

34travel contributor Nastya Davydenko set off to travel on her own through her sister country Ukraine. The trip took a month, and the route ran through Kharkiv, Kyiv, Carpathians, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Lvov and mother-Odessa. Based on this experience, Nastya came up with life hacks for girls who do not wait for the weather by the sea and dare to take only a backpack with them.

Nastya Davydenko,34travel author

I worked for 2 years in an office where the 6-day work reigned, and taking at least one day at my own expense to go somewhere was a real blasphemy in the eyes of the authorities. With the approach of summer, I put a letter of resignation on the table and, in the status of a newly appeared parasite, decided to tear my claws where I had not been before. Traveling alone was not a condition, but rather a necessary measure. I could wait for acquaintances who, “well, wait a couple of weeks, I’ll almost certainly go with you,” but I no longer had the strength to be in stagnant water. So I took the first long distance ticket and set off, like Finn and Jake, on an adventure.

1. Minimalism is the head of everything

Even in the upcoming semi-wild trip, I wanted to look like a sweetie - after all, who knows what awaits the young lady, what places I will have to go to. I took with me 5 dresses, several skirts, 4 pairs of multi-colored tights, a couple of T-shirts and fables. I can't imagine how it all fit into a standard student backpack. Do you know how many things came in handy in practice? In the course were a sundress and a dress "for life", a banana bag and summer boots. The tights lay like a crow's nest at the bottom of the backpack. Take a couple of universal things with you - you won't go wrong. Your back will say “thank you” for this, and in the next city no one will know what clothes you were wearing yesterday.

If you do not have a mission to make a film or prepare a full-fledged photo project, then it is better to leave a bulky camera at home too. Surely your smartphone takes pictures just as well, and you won’t worry that someone can take your expensive equipment to Narnia. As for processing, feel free to download Snapseed or any other application from .

2. What transport is passing?

Hitchhiking is a cool way that has a lot of advantages: you will save on the road, there is every chance to find new friends and, in the end, listen to the stories of the driver and fill out your revelations. But should a girl stop a car alone? I didn’t do that, and therefore I won’t campaign. But still, if you decide to do this, then do not forget that the gear should be neutral (not emphasizing your magnificent chest, and not tight-fitting ass), and it is better to leave coquetry at home - a hungry ranger can interpret such behavior incorrectly.

I traveled all the way on trains and buses. Often it does not cost a lot of money, and you get rid of worries about possible extreme situations.

3 . Dream but be pragmatic

At the first destination, I was not going completely into the void. A friend was waiting for me, who himself invited me to visit, promised a welcome, dances under the moon, and a portrait of shawarma. In fact, it turned out that all this was as far from the truth as the pink unicorn, which, according to the classics, lives in sunsets. So, on the second day, I quietly packed my things and migrated to the hostel.

Before you go on a trip, it’s better to download the same Booking in advance, a metro map, look, install other applications that will make your stay in a foreign country easier. It is not in vain that they compose a saying: "Trust in a friend, but do not make a mistake yourself."

4. Technology decides

Not all public places will have wi-fi. To make your journey easier and navigate yourself, buy local sim card with internet access. So, you will always have Google maps at hand that will tell you the direction to the nearest bakery or take you to the museum of modern art, and family and friends will not tear your hair out worrying about you, alone patrolling a foreign land. You can buy a SIM card almost everywhere - from the station to the stalls and the subway. In addition, it will be easier to contact the locals.

If there is an opportunity to take a power bank - do not even hesitate. But if there is none, and it was not possible to be generous with friends, then always keep a charger for your phone with you. And then you won’t have time to look back, as a photo shoot of a new landscape will drain the entire battery. You can plug your phone into a socket in any cafe (sometimes employees even offer their usb), or in special "charging" kiosks for a nominal fee.

5. And eat a fish, and don’t run aground

Tasty and satisfying food and at the same time not to give a tangible amount for lunch will help chain restaurants (not to be confused with McDonald's and other fast food). If in Minsk such a place is Lido, then in Ukraine it is Puzata Hata and the student pizzeria Bufet, which, in addition to pizzas, has salads for ridiculous money. Mom may not worry that you will turn into an anatomical exhibit, or, conversely, get rich on buns - in most bistro restaurants you can find healthy and homemade food that is really tasty. In addition, oatmeal for breakfast, fresh fruits and vegetables are always available in the markets and hypermarkets - what else does a girl need?

6. An electronic friend is better than two paper ones

Cash is good. It will become a guiding light for the leaders of the Odessa Privoz and the keepers of hot corn and baklava on the beach, but it will complicate the “Buy a ticket online” operation. In order not to make the way to hell in the middle of nowhere, but to devote extra hours to the city movement and inspection of murals, the best move would be to take bank card international importance. Just a couple of minutes - and you already have the coveted ticket. No transfers, no queues and no threat of losing your ticket. And if an emergency suddenly happens and someone pockets your cash, you have no one to count on in a foreign country. With a card, you can ask for donations from friends or relatives, and in an hour the money will be on your card.

And back to cash. If you stayed in a hostel, fit in with the guys, which cause you various doubts, then make sure that the money you have is broken down into “hacks”. So, I never carried a large amount with me, and I stuffed bills around different places. Just don't forget where you buried the treasure! Otherwise, those who found it may take it for a gift from Eagle and Tails.

7. Smile but don't relax

For every lady traveling alone, there is bound to be a local alpha male. It's good if this results in a pleasant acquaintance and the new friend becomes a demo version of the guide. But situations are different. A few months before the trip, I took up boxing, and the acquired skills allowed me to go on the road in a relaxed way (and it’s great that I didn’t have to use them in practice, which I wish you too).

It is not necessary to go to self-defense courses, but to learn a couple of tricks that will save your life in a critical situation is really important and necessary. Memorize them and repeat them periodically.

8. Don't be shy

Even Ivan Dorn sang that constraint is useless to you. You can take a selfie or take a selfie stick on the road, but it's okay to ask the locals to bomb a photo of you in front of "that thing over there." Such a frame will not overlap half of your hand, and the photo will take on a natural look. Just watch who you give the phone to!

Google maps is a tangible helper, but city residents will be able to suggest options that are “sure”. Do not be afraid to approach and ask - certainly at least every second person will be happy to give advice to the guest of the city.

9. I'm leaving, I'm leaving beautifully

Before the trip, stock up on sweets or nice small things - so you can thank the people who will help you. Not often, but still heard from the girls that the “weaker sex” should be helped by default, and best gift from a lady - this is her smile / attention. Let us suppose. But material gratitude is never superfluous. I carried chocolates from Spartak and Kommunarka at the bottom of my backpack, and I didn’t forget about the Twickers bar. In Ukraine, for example, there is no such thing, and my new acquaintances were happy with Belarusian nishtyaks. It will not cost fabulous money and space in a backpack, but you will present a response for a good deed. And don't forget to smile big!

Greek resorts this year are still popular among Russian tourists - mainly due to the fact that prices for tours are lower than in traditional Turkey and Egypt.

According to the estimates of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), several tens of thousands of Russian tourists are in Greece at the same time. ATOR Executive Director Maya Lomidze admits that this season will be unpredictable, but not because of internal Greek problems, but because of the currency appreciation. "Last year the demand was more than a million, this year, according to the most rough estimates, we expect about 700,000, that is, the fall will be about 30%," says Lomidze.

According to the Association, last year's prices for tours to Greece in terms of rubles are still two times cheaper than this year.

Tour operators unanimously claim that the crisis in Greece does not create any problems for tourists, but vacationers themselves report a lack of money in ATMs and problems with gasoline. The BBC Russian service answers the most common questions about holidays in Greece.

Can I pay by card?

Tour operators claim that cards continue to be accepted. In the same time Russian tourist Maxim Nikolaev, who is vacationing in Crete, told the BBC Russian Service that they generally do not accept cards.

According to another tourist in Thessaloniki, shops still accept cards. "True, the terminals were hidden under the counter," he adds.

Another Russian, Alexander Mazunin, tells the following story: he independently booked a hotel on the island of Naxos through one of the popular services: “Three weeks before arrival, I received a letter that the booking was canceled. Without explanation. Money was not debited or blocked. Payment should have been at the hotel, but, apparently, the cards do not work with them, so they just canceled. When asked if it was possible to rebook, they said no, "says Mazunin.

Can I withdraw money from ATMs?

Local tourists report problems with cash withdrawals from ATMs. For Greek citizens, there is currently a cash withdrawal limit of 60 euros, however, the restriction does not apply to tourists. However, many complain about both the closure of ATMs and the lack of cash remaining open.

“Our tourists, who have just returned from Greece, do not confirm that there were problems with getting cash from ATMs. True, they say that some ATMs simply closed. That is, the choice just became smaller, but it is,” Maya Lomidze explains. .

Mostly tourists confirm this: "We are now resting in Crete. ATMs are working. You can withdraw as much as the bank that issued the card allows," a Russian tourist writes on the forum.

At the same time, Russian Maxim Nikolaev, who is in Crete, claims that the day before, the guide warned the group that there was no money in ATMs.

Is it possible to rent a car?

You can, the biggest car rental companies are still operating and claim to accept both cash and card payments. However, some tourists report that in salons they ask to pay in cash.

Problems may arise not when renting a car, but when trying to fill it up. Tourists vacationing in Crete claim that most of the gas stations have run out of gas: "The owner of the apartment warned that there could be problems at gas stations over the next few days. full tank- everything works, there are no queues, cards are accepted," they write on the forums.

Other tourists claim that in the area of the city of Agios Nikolaos (Crete) on Monday, gas stations ran out of all gasoline.

In Thessaloniki, according to the assurances of tourists, there is gasoline: AI-95 - for 1.5-1.65 euros. There are no queues.

If Greece leaves the eurozone, will euros be accepted for payment?

British Travel service Money, which allows you to change the currency in post offices, Andrew Brown urges tourists not to worry: if Greece leaves the eurozone, the transition to the pre-2002 drachma will take up to 18 months. During this time, Greece will continue to accept the euro in parallel.

Visa, the BBC, said that in the event of unforeseen circumstances, it is ready to work with all interested parties so that the transition to a new currency takes place with minimal risks for consumers.

On your own or on tour?

This question has nothing to do with the situation in Greece, but rather is an eternal dispute independent travelers and tour operators. The companies claim that those flying on tours are much more protected: "They know who to contact, and then it becomes a headache for tour operators."

Fans of organizing a vacation on their own argue: “A tourist who has bought a ticket from a tour operator depends on the tour operator. The latter, in turn, depends on his partner in Greece. caribbean or if Russian tour operator closed his office and went on the run, the last one would be a tourist. When you buy an air ticket or book accommodation on your own, you have a direct relationship with a company that provides services. Without a weak link - an intermediary, "says Sergey Vinsky, the founder of the forum for independent travelers.

What to do?

  • According to the recommendation of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, you need to take more cash with you than you originally thought.
  • On the spot, experts advise to be careful to avoid unpleasant incidents: more cash means more risk that you can be robbed.
  • When paying with cards, experts advise making sure that the card is run through the terminal in your presence.
  • Please be aware that Western Union's offices are closed due to the crisis and the company cannot yet say when they will reopen.
  • When buying a ticket through a tour operator, read the agreement carefully and ask additional questions. Despite the fact that tour operators claim that there are no problems, in fact, tourists still face unpleasant situations.
  • "And the most important thing is to follow the development of events, the news," concludes Maya Lomidze.

Route.

It is useful to know which settlements will be on the way and whether they will be at all. It is not always necessary to have a card with you, for example, if it is a Moscow-Peter stop. If you go somewhere in the wilderness, you can even buy a paper one, although I usually download offline maps to my android. Calculate how long a typical trip takes this route, plus to this figure from an hour to infinity. Who catches the car for 15 minutes, someone has to stand for several hours.

Gear.

Can not be bad weather, sometimes bad equipment. First of all, you need to get dressed. weather and bright. Comfortable shoes and neat clothes add +100 to comfort. In the rain, of course, take a raincoat and spare socks with you. Shoe covers are also a topic, by the way. Girls are not recommended to wear short dresses, even in extreme heat I had this experience and didn't like it. No incidents, but they offered to make money.

Be sure to have a flashlight and spare batteries for it, a flashlight on your phone does not count! It is very convenient to ride with a power bank, there is even a solar panels, but this is no longer on the mandatory list.

Sleeping bag / sleeping bag / tent. If the journey is long, at least the first two should be with you.

Backpack.

The most common mistake of beginners is to buy a backpack for 70 liters and stretch it with things up to 90. You don't need so many things! Just believe me, the back is more expensive. If the stop is summer, then, even if you go very far, fifty liters is more than enough. Everything you need will appear when you need it.

Provision.

Always take water with you. From food, take dried fruits and chocolate - that's it on the road. Eating before the road is a must! Often good drivers are fed, but not all and not always.

How to start.

It is very difficult to catch a car in the city or on a bypass. Look for transport that takes you out of town to the highway, go as far as possible, so you will catch a car faster. Smile, wave, thumbs up)

Where to stand.

Certainly not on the bridge. And not before turning. And not after. Make sure you long time clearly visible, the driver needs to have time to think and understand that he wants to pick you up. If it's already dark, stand under a lantern or light yourself with a flashlight.

In car.

Be as friendly as possible, but not intrusive. Chosen for completely different reasons. Someone is bored of traveling alone, he picks up an interlocutor for himself, someone likes to teach the mind, in this case, you will hardly have to talk, but only listen to how to live. Someone himself was the same, planted, fed, put to bed. In general, pump insight. Do not sleep if the driver himself did not offer it to you! And even if he offered, it's still better not to sleep.

Have you ever thought about hitchhiking? Personally, yes, but every time I was stopped by some "good" reason, because of which this venture had to be postponed indefinitely. A few days ago, this idea came to my mind again, and I decided to bring it closer to reality by asking an experienced hitchhiker about everything.

What are the benefits of hitchhiking

Hitchhiking is an adventure, not free view transport. Its main advantage, as well as a disadvantage, is complete unpredictability. You can travel half the world for free, visit dozens of amazing people, see the country for real, without tourist embellishments. Or just stand in the rain for several hours and, without catching anything, go look for a bus.

Hitchhiking on a traveling circus

What you need to take with you

The main tool of a hitchhiker is cardboard and a marker. It is on it that it is convenient to attach sheets of paper with the name of the city.

Special requirements for route planning

When hitchhiking, you should not expect to get from Rome to Berlin in one car. I advise you to plan your route so that there are no more than 200-300 km between the cities you want to visit.

How to calculate your time and plan your overnight stay

Sleep at night, not hitchhike. That is why it is worth calculating your route so that by the evening you are in the city anyway. To do this, you must first find alternative modes of transport (buses, trains) and rewrite their schedule. Or bring your own tent and sleeping bag.

Where is the best place to catch a car

Banal advice: choose a place from the point of view of the driver. Think about where he can see you well and stop comfortably. In the city, you will be mistaken for a voter, so you need to go beyond its border and hitchhike on the highway that leads to the next destination. By the way, in many European countries it is forbidden to catch cars on autobahns, so you can choose smaller roads.

How to behave in a car

Don't forget that the driver picked you up not so much out of compassion, but out of a desire to socialize. You will probably have something to tell, so it's good to have a couple of stories ready.

What to Avoid

The best hitchhiking experiences

No hitchhiking trip is complete without soul-searching. In Georgia, we got to harvest wine in one Kakhetian family, although we were not on the road. There we were taught how to make wine and churchkhela. And in another Kakhetian family, they accepted us as relatives and did not let us out for 3 days until we saw all the sights and tried all the local dishes. In addition, we were given a couple of bottles of 13-year-old Saperavi as a load and were not allowed to pay a penny anywhere.

Turkey is remembered for hitchhiking in the back of a tractor, on folded fire extinguishers...

... on a sofa tied to the trunk, and the policemen who helped us catch the car.

If you, like me, have been dreaming of hitchhiking all your life - don't be afraid, do it. Choose a friendly and understandable country and don't wait for a company, go yourself. Keep your heart open and no one will offend you along the way.

Vacations are often ruined: instead of admiring the beauty surrounding nature or local attractions, we are forced to spend time looking for a medical institution, a pharmacy, or even in a hospital bed. , to avoid trouble, fully relax and gain strength, will tell the candidate of medical sciences, infectious disease specialist, senior researcher at the Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor Tatyana Alexandrovna RUZHENTSOVA.

Gratitude for the materials provided to the journal “Prevention Plus. Ukraine" No. 7/106 2014.

Dangers that await while traveling

When choosing a place of rest, it is necessary to take into account the age, available chronic diseases and the risk of their development. So, older people should not rest in hot countries in the summer, because at high ambient temperatures the risk of exacerbation of cardiovascular pathology increases dramatically. Selected schemes for taking antihypertensive drugs usually have to be adjusted taking into account the individual response of a person. Often it is not possible to cope with this problem on your own. Due to unstable blood pressure and excess fluid in the heat, the number of heart attacks, strokes, and heart rhythm disturbances increases.

An additional factor provoking deterioration of the condition is often diarrhea. Violation of the function of the gastrointestinal tract can be, both as a result of the inability of the body to the characteristics of food and the composition of water in another country, and under the influence of pathogens of intestinal infections.

What you need to know when traveling with a child- children, especially young children, have difficulty adapting to local cuisine and very quickly pick up infectious diseases. For a child additional source disease is water in pools and, of course, in any open water. The seas and oceans are no exception. However, the lower the temperature of the water and the more salt it contains, the fewer microorganisms it lives in. Poorly washed hands, fruits, vegetables, eating utensils and toys can also cause gastrointestinal distress.

For any person who has arrived at a new place, a period of adaptation is necessary. How more difference in time zones, air temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, the longer this time will be.

For children under seven years of age, this period is approximately two weeks, and sometimes more. Old man, having a chronic cardiovascular, endocrine, neurological or gastrointestinal pathology, may not adapt to new conditions at all.

People who have previously been treated for various tumors or have so-called precancerous conditions are at risk of progression of the oncological process. Active solar rays, acting on the DNA of the cells of the human body, are able to accelerate the uncontrolled growth of tissue. Diseases capable of transforming into malignant processes under adverse conditions, including excessive solar radiation, include polyps of the stomach and intestines, leukoplakia, mastopathy, skin papillomas, especially multiple and large ones.

What you need to know when traveling to hot countries

When traveling, it is not worth risking exploring unfamiliar and not recommended by the guide or travel agency places.

Before traveling to certain countries it is necessary to make preventive vaccinations. For example, tourists traveling to Brazil are strongly advised to be vaccinated against yellow fever.

Elderly people and children should choose a place to relax with a familiar climate. If you really want to visit hot countries, it is better to prefer the season when there are no high air temperatures: autumn or spring. To strengthen the health of the child at sea, you need to plan long rest, not less than 1.5 months, since the positive effect of sea air will begin only after the adaptation period has expired.

It is necessary to clarify what are the features of the fauna of the country with which you plan to get acquainted. Purchase insect repellents and after-bite preparations in advance. Be sure to pay attention to the age restrictions when using each of them. Take special care of children. For them, there is currently a large selection of special protective equipment.

If there is a risk of progression of cancer, it is necessary to avoid direct sunlight on the skin. It is better to buy white clothes. Both the torso and the arms and legs should be closed from the sun. A wide-brimmed hat is suitable for face protection. I recommend applying a special cream with a protective component against ultraviolet rays, labeled FROM 30 to 50.

Any person can sunbathe only for a short time, preferably before 10 am or after 17-18 pm.

Avoid reddening of the skin and especially the formation of blisters. These are signs of a sunburn that cannot be of any use, and at best you will get off with a few days of poor health and an unattractive appearance.

On a rest you should not eat unfamiliar food. If you still want to try something exotic, first find out everything in detail from the Guide, guidebooks or reviews on the Internet. Do not eat in unfamiliar cafes, eateries, restaurants. It is not recommended to buy food from vendors selling outside stores or other designated controlled areas. Before buying at the local market, ask the workers travel company or from more experienced fellow citizens about the quality of the products sold.

What to do in case of gastrointestinal upset

In case of a gastrointestinal upset, when going on a trip, do not forget to take enterosorbents with you. Good absorbent and detoxifying properties

filtrum-sti, which is taken 2-4 tablets 3-4 times a day half an hour before meals, chewing thoroughly.

With frequent loose stools, the interval between taking the tablets is reduced to 1-2 hours.

Polysorb, enterosgel, entegnin, smecta, neosmectin, white clay can be substitutes for filtrum-sti.

For a successful treatment of gastrointestinal disorder it is necessary to take a sufficient amount of fluid, half of which should be in the form of glucose-salt solutions. You can take rehydron, a bag of which is diluted in 1 liter of boiled or drinking water room temperature.

Or buy hydrovit, 1 sachet is dissolved in 250 ml of water.

These drugs are taken in 200-250 ml after each loose stool.

If you are concerned about nausea and vomiting, then for about two hours you should not try to stop it. Let all the unnecessary come out. If vomiting continues longer, then take Cerucal 1-2 tablets or 1-2 tablets of Motilium.

In such a situation, the liquid should be taken fractionally: 1-2 small sips every 2-3 minutes. For abdominal pain, take 1 capsule of duspatalin (200 mg) or 2 tablets of no-shpa 40 mg.

Eliminate all raw foods from food: vegetables, fruits, juices, legumes, black bread, pastries, milk and dairy products. If there are signs of a bacterial infection: impurities, greenery or blood in the stool, add enterofuril (or nifuroxazide) 200 mg 4 times a day to the treatment. It should be taken within 5-7 days.

Imodium at intestinal infections absolutely contraindicated!

With the cessation of stool under its influence, the reproduction of pathogens in the intestines will accelerate, intoxication will increase, and general well-being will deteriorate significantly. The risk of severe disease and the development of complications when taking this drug against the background of infectious disease increases significantly.

Treatment should be continued until complete normalization of the stool. The products excluded for a while are gradually returned to the diet within 2-3 weeks after the end of the disease.

When in a hot climate, remember to take a large number of water: up to 4 liters per day.

Be sure to take containers with you on walks. drinking water, otherwise, heat stroke may occur, blood pressure may decrease, and there will be a risk of thrombosis.

And, of course, remember to bring enough medicine with you which you take regularly, and necessary set drugs in case of exacerbation of the disease. Pick everything right medicines you will be assisted by the attending physician, who must be visited before the trip.

So, when you go on a trip, be sure to add to your usual preparations(one to choose from each group):

Enterosorbents: filtrum-sti, polysorb, enterosgel, entegnin, smect, neosmectin, white clay;

Glucose-salt solutions: rehydron, hydrovit;

Drugs against vomiting: cerucal, motilium;

Antibacterial: enterofuril, nifuroxazide.

That's all, we talked about how to make your own rest safe! I hope the information provided was useful to you!

Have a safe holiday! Be happy!
