Fares. M4 highway, toll sections: how to bypass them

Even a traffic jam in Russia can be paid. Once again, trips along the paid section of the M4 Don helped to make sure of this. After a rather long break, the author of these lines had to wander along the route of the Moscow Ring Road-Moscow Region along the Don highway and its environs. The experience was extremely negative. The abominations of this toll road can now be "enjoyed" almost on any day of the week. Friday-Saturday guaranteed.

Approximately 3-5 kilometers before the payment point (depending on specific conditions), you will definitely find yourself in a traffic jam. And you will overcome it for at least an hour. Last Thursday, in the afternoon, I was “lucky” to crawl about five kilometers in order to part with 35 rubles and an hour of my own time for the pleasure of comfortably driving ten kilometers. The entrances to the nine ticket offices sported brand new asphalt. Only five cash desks were working and passing cars. Of these, two were intended for travel "by cards" - for cars with T-pass transponders.

The happy owners of these trudged in a common traffic jam and did not have any preferences when passing through the payment point due to the general congestion. In addition, the process of overcoming the toll point was “accelerated” by the fact that the fare on the site has recently increased from 30 rubles to 35. And people who are used to paying “thirty” are now forced to scrape an additional five rubles in change from their pockets. On Saturday, remembering the uniform madhouse that prevails in front of the payment point, I decided not to risk my mental health in the stream of summer residents and laid a route parallel to the "payer" - along Kashirskoe highway.

It turned out that the detour of the paid section of the M4 "Don" along this narrow road, dotted with traffic lights, and even in the stream of summer residents, took even less time than the route along the "payer".

It so happened that I had to rush to the Moscow region on Sunday. Assuming that the traffic in that direction should be less at this time, he moved again through the paid Don. And before the point of payment! The congestion was a little smaller - for some 30-40 minutes! I think that the reader himself has already guessed that the traffic jam at the payment points on the other side of the "Home" was no less impressive.

The leadership of all "avtodor" and "management companies" involved in collecting money from motorists for toll road, has repeatedly reported on the increase in the throughput of its checkpoints. However, as it turns out, things are still there. Thanks to their “successful” activities, we are once again convinced that the paid ones are not to speed up transportation, but to collect an extra penny from the gullible part of car owners. Well, and let the next “native little man” earn money on construction.

It got to the point that the “pocket” FAS became interested in the manipulations of the state company Rosavtodor during the tenders for the construction of the Central Ring Road and initiated a large-scale inspection. “A major audit is taking place in given time in relation to the state company "Rosavtodor". We suspect this company of participating in an anti-competitive agreement. As a customer, this company recently held infrastructure tenders, including a tender for the construction of the Central Ring Road, which should be built around Moscow, ”said Alexander Kinev, deputy head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the other day. Road M4 Don

The month of August stands in the yard, or rather its honorable second half. It so happened that we were among that huge flow of tourists who decided to go by car to the Black Sea.

As a rule, everyone travels from Moscow to Rostov-on-Don or its suburbs, spends the night, and on the second day they cover the remaining hundreds of kilometers to the resort, for example, we still had 460 kilometers left after Rostov, but that's another story. Today we will talk about 1100 kilometers from Moscow to Rostov.

The exit to the Don highway (M4) is located in the south of Moscow, immediately after the exit to Kashirskoye highway. Some people sometimes call the Moscow-Don highway Novaya Kashirka.

We planned to leave at 4-30 in the morning, but we were able to move from home only at 6-30. Ahead was exactly half of the Moscow Ring Road and the exit to the highway. After the exit from the Moscow Ring Road, a free section of the road begins, on which a traffic jam has already gathered due to an accident. After spending at least an hour, we finally broke through!

Ahead of us was the first toll section of the road, which we hoped to slip through with a bullet, but no such luck. The day before, we bought through the website of Avtodor, which builds a toll road, a transponder-analogue of a travel card, they are called T-pass. On the device, which must be glued to the windshield, you credit money, you drive through a separate window. The cost of this thing is 800 rubles, which are not returned, money is written off for each plot. However, the designers of the track did everything to keep the transponder owners from relaxing.

You are driving along a two-lane road, in front of you there is a passage through the toll points and a giant traffic jam ... Because two lanes turn into 6 literally a hundred meters from the checkpoint. Everyone doesn't care that the left lane is for t-pass holders, one Tambov wolf pressed us so hard to the side of the road, not realizing that he needed to go to the right. Employees of Avtodor regulate traffic after the start of the expansion, drive all sorts of wolves into their lanes, but this does not save from traffic jams. Here is such a travel card for 800 rubles.

I was surprised by the system that was made. A bunch of paid sites, diluted with free ones, in front of each traffic jam. Since we are forced to pay for the road, in front of which we have to stand in a traffic jam. I'm not saying that they tortured the cameras, unjustified speed limits in front of the camera. The infrastructure of paid sites also leaves much to be desired. Sometimes such rest stations came across, but miserable. There is not even a pharmacy in the entire area. Toilets meet regularly, and thanks for that. Perhaps I compare with the paid autobahns of Spain, France, Austria, but our version does not pull at all.

I don’t know why the stubs of toll sections were made, I can’t call it otherwise, apparently because of savings on equipment at exits and entrances to the road. The most scoring section was 2 kilometers, in front of which there is a traffic jam of 2 kilometers. Well, where is the justice?

Everyone is rushing south.

With grief in half, by one o'clock in the afternoon we reached Voronezh, the bypass toll road around which, perhaps, is the only normal section. Time to have lunch.

Monitoring the situation on the road with the help of Yandex traffic jams for a week before the trip, I came to the conclusion that eternal redness is observed in the Losevo area, which is located after Voronezh. Therefore, it is better to dine before traffic jams in order to relax.

Yandex maps showed a large number of a cafe near the settlement of Maloye Usmanovo, which is located just outside Voronezh. Our attention was drawn to a cute pink cafe called Gramophone at the Usman Hotel.

In the main hall, preparations were underway for the wedding, so we were fed lunch in the room where the hotel breakfasts are held. The menu is cool, the food is delicious, the prices are rather low than high-normal. I recommend this establishment!

After a delicious lunch, we were completely ready for a traffic jam in Losevo. It is worth saying that in the direction of Rostov most of cars were driving with Moscow numbers, moreover, a lot expensive cars premium. As they say in advertising, everyone went to cheat on Red with Black.

After Usmanovo, on the right, there is an impromptu area for recreation. People drive their cars off the highway onto the grass under the trees, lay down blankets and rest. So, keep in mind the free playground on the grass.

Approaching Losev, we become participants in an impromptu off-road jeeping. A dirt road runs parallel to the highway, which is much more pleasant to drive than to stand in a traffic jam in 35-degree heat. It's not even a roadside, so the DPS didn't touch the line of Moscow cars. Only people laughed in conversations that Moscow came to them in an organized manner to create traffic jams.

Having passed Losevo, Yandex took us off the road and for quite a long time we drove along a not very good, but empty road. Rare Moscow cars rushed towards us, obviously returning from the south, we constantly overtook those who were just going to the seas. Apparently, we met those who use Yandex navigator, it's good that there are not many of them.

Cossack villages floated past us, colorful locals and kilometers of fields with sunflowers. I don't know why, but sunflowers make me absolutely ecstatic. Apparently Vangog we have a similar taste.

Sunset in Rostov

At 8 pm we entered Rostov-on-Don, making our way at 11 o'clock, not counting lunch. In general, for a distance of 1100 km, the peak of the season and the "care" of Avtodor, this is not so much.

An hour later we arrived in Azov, where we booked an overnight stay in a guest house ( perfect place By reasonable price). I had enough strength to order a pizza, pick it up and fall into a heroic sleep.

Why did we go to Azov? In order to be able to make a feint with your ears and in the morning, based on the situation with traffic jams, decide which way to go to Gelendzhik: along the M4 or a detour through Timashevsk and Krymsk. Monitoring traffic jams for a week for departure led me to the decision to cancel my hotel reservation in Rostov and book a hotel in Azov, from which it is more convenient to move along the bypass road. Everything indicated that the likelihood of a detour was high.

The road was difficult in places, but overall we even enjoyed it. Before the trip, we prepared ourselves, I hope our observations before and during the road will help other drivers. If it weren't for the bits of toll roads, it would be great in general. Even if the fare would be more expensive, but one entry and exit for a long distance. The next day we were waiting for the road to the sea, and it warmed the soul.

Just in case, I'll tell you how we drove along the M4 highway, maybe it will come in handy for someone, a kind of report. So, the whole journey of 1500 km took us 3 days and along the way we also stopped by Divnogorye for a day, it is almost on the road. Basically given way from Moscow to Gelendzhik / Sochi / Anapa can be overcome in a day (18-25 hours), but I am not a fan of such long movements in one sitting, especially at night and when there is no one to replace you, the risk is unjustified. Driving over 500 km is the most, the driver does not lose concentration. In addition, we perceived the trip as a journey, so there was nowhere to rush.

If you want to go faster and without stopping, then it’s better by plane (via /), indeed, faster and at the same time much safer. Moreover, when it comes to a vacation of a couple of weeks, you don’t need so many things with you, for a family of three, 3 suitcases of 20 kg should be enough. But here the master is the master, as you like. We went for a month, or even more, so we need a lot of junk with us and a car in place to move around.

    Brief impressions

Our itinerary changed a bit towards the end. We decided to go to Anapa to be on sandy beaches a few days, and in the end we got stuck here for rehabilitation, which we managed to fit in on the last day. Therefore, we will be in Anapa for another 3 weeks, and then we will move towards Gelendzhik in (if it doesn’t get colder) and in Sochi. Well, if nothing changes again.

After our last such trip to Gelendzhik 2 years ago, I wrote a whole suffering post about. Time to rewrite it. As difficult as it was then, it was so much easier now. Everything is relative. Yes, Yegor still doesn't sleep in the car seat, but he can sit in it all day long! Unless, of course, he constantly throws entertainment :) Still, he has become calmer and he can already be occupied with at least something, for example, with Lego, which we bought right before the trip. And now it was necessary to stop for one daytime sleep, and not for two. In general, I was very afraid of repeating the previous time, but it did not happen. Traveling with a child is more difficult than without it, but it is already quite realistic and even we can do it. Especially if you are traveling overnight.

The top impressions are still the toilets with their parking lots and smoking trucks, in this regard, unfortunately, nothing has changed in 5 years. From the pleasant - the road has become better, and the open spaces around have not gone away. But more on that below.

    Route Moscow-Voronezh-Rostov-Anapa-Gelendzhik-Sochi

If you go with two overnight stays, then the most optimal stops will be in the Voronezh region and in Rostov-on-Don. Thus, the path will be divided into 3 sections of 500 km. On the one hand, these cities are full of housing on the same (link is my detailed post about the service and bonus 20$), on the other hand, entering and leaving the city takes time, so to save it, it would be better to stay not in the city, but in roadside hotels.

Please note that there is an opportunity to save money in the city, since a normal apartment costs 1500-2000 rubles (I recommend an apartment), and a comparable hotel will cost twice as much.

As an option, plan a route with only one overnight stay, for example, leave Moscow during the day, get to Voronezh in the evening, spend the night in a hotel in front of it, and move further immediately to the sea from early morning. Or planning a single overnight stay in front of Rostov, where the route passes through several settlements, where there are motels and private housing.

Picky travelers can generally spend the night in a tent, anywhere along the way (in the forest belts), and "truckers" drive 18-25 hours without rest and overnight. I personally do not want to risk my family, so I try not to make long hauls, as I get tired and lose concentration, especially at night. Yes, I could do those 1500 km in one sitting, but I don't see the point.

If Sochi is the ultimate goal, then driving along the Tuapse-Sochi section without a preliminary break is not pleasant, there are serpentines, traffic jams, and this segment can take a decent amount of time, 2-3 times more than usual (when compared with gentle sections). Ideally, drive through it early or early in the morning, while there are still few cars, or at night. When I went to Sochi, then average speed went 45 km / h, there were sections with one-way traffic (repairs), plus trucks, although they sometimes let pass on the rises, but in general it still didn’t work out fast. Only closer to Sochi and after it is normal speed. In settlements (and they are all there) there is often a limit of 40 km / h, on the highway 70 km / h.

In Gelendzhik, I usually go through Dzhubga, I like it better there, a calm road, but there is an option to go through Novorossiysk. It is better to go to Anapa, leaving the M4 highway after 100 kilometers after Rostov to the village of Kanevskaya, and then drive through Timashevsk, Slavyansk-on-Kuban, adhering to the Temryuk direction, but the road there is so-so. After Slavyansk, it will be necessary to go to Anapa.

    Travel time

As I wrote above, it all depends on how many nights you want to make on the road and whether you want to at all. We all went there with my family, so we did 2 overnight stays, as a result, the road took 3 days at a very relaxed pace.

On the way back I was traveling alone (the family had flown by plane) from Adler to Moscow. I got there in 26 hours, of which I slept about 5 in the car. That is, the journey itself took 21 hours. Quite normal I think. Somewhere around 20-25 hours and it is worth counting, without taking into account long stops for sleep.

    Highway M4

    Stripes and coating

On the way to the Black Sea, I have already traveled several times, hitchhiking back and forth, and 3 times by car. The track is slowly, but changing for the better. First of all, they almost made two lanes in each direction from Moscow to Goryachiy Klyuch. But, unfortunately, there are still sections with one lane. For example, in the Voronezh region, near the villages of Losevo-Pavlovsk-Verkhniy Mamon, a section about 70 km long. Moreover, there is no repair, just a lane in each direction and there is no hint of expansion. And another piece is closer in the Rostov region. Also, repairs are underway in the Rostov region after Rostov-on-Don between the villages of Samarskoye and Kushchevskaya (a piece of about 40 km). Even in the Rostov region, the metal separator with an oncoming lane periodically disappears, the markings disappear, bumps, cracks, etc. appear (I was already driving in the dark, it was completely uncomfortable), however, as in the Voronezh region. In fact, the best piece of the M4 between Moscow and Voronezh, in theory, it should be like this all along. Will wait:)

After Goryachiy Klyuch single-lane traffic with occasional overtaking lane. She appears there quite often. From Dzhubga to Tuapse, the pattern is approximately the same, only a small serpentine and a third lane are quite rare. From Tuapse to Sochi there is a concrete serpentine and there is almost no way to overtake. There is also one lane from Dzhubga to Geledzhik, but there is almost no serpentine, so the section is passed quickly.

From Rostov to Anapa, there is a single lane with a bunch of trucks and old Kamaz trucks, and only after turning from the Temryuk highway to Anapa, they disappear. We tried to use the navigator to drive bypass roads (we drove from Rostov to Azov and further to bypass the cities), but in some places bad road, in general, the distance is longer, but the plus is that there are few cars. Whether they won or not, I don't know.

    Fines and cameras

There are a lot of cameras on the road, so it’s not a problem to run into a fine for non-compliance with the speed limit. But it is for the best, we will all be more alive. Everywhere I moved at a maximum speed of +15 to the allowed one, that is, if 90 km / h is allowed, then I drove 115 km / h. Everywhere, except for paid sites, just such a restriction. On paid ones - 110 km / h and on one of them as much as 130 km / h (that is, you can go 145 k / h if you wish).

For the whole trip there and back, I received only one fine for 500 rubles. Somewhere in the Voronezh region I was driving instead of 83 km / h in locality. Strange, usually there I certainly slow down.

    Paid sections

In total, there are now eight paid sections on the M4. All of them are between Moscow and Voronezh, but they plan to do more. Visually, they almost do not differ from other sections of the route, I did not notice any serious differences. Only on one piece did the allowed speed of 130 km / h, on the other 110 km / h, as well as on the rest of the M4 segment, which is positioned as a motorway.

For the price: 35-120 rubles per site, at night the rates are cheaper. Moreover, at one of the sites it is necessary to show the check again when leaving, so do not throw away the checks.

    Rest en route and refueling

We mainly stayed at Lukoil, because there is a civil toilet, a mini market, a playground and tables outside for snacks. At least in the first half of the M4, Lukoil gas stations are equipped in this way, then they go smaller and without such a set. On the map, just in case, I marked a very large Luikoil after Voronezh, where you can eat normally and stand in the shade. In previous Lukoil cafes, there were only coffee / tea and buns, but here there are direct dishes.

Well done Lukoil - many gas stations have playgrounds and tables for snacks

Around the Russian open spaces ... In the background M4

The territory of this gas station was very large and many stood at its far end, where there is shade and benches with tables. So, in order not to go anywhere, people immediately relieved themselves behind the partition, from which there was a wild stench, heat. I was surprised not even by laziness to walk 100 meters to the toilet, but by the fact that the stench did not bother anyone, people sat there calmly and ate. Hmm.

For those who don't know, there are also parking lots along the way. But they are, to put it mildly, not very pleasant: a lot of garbage and crap toilets to death. Moreover, if there is some kind of infrastructure in the parking lot, for example, illegal cafes, then there is much more sracha. Therefore, it is better to stop for a break, either at gas stations, or just along the way in the forest belt, or in parking lots where there is no cafe. And another mini life hack, if you still decide to go to the red brick toilet, then it’s better not to go to it in the parking lot, go to bus stop, there they are also there, but cleaner.

    Other nuances

I noticed such a feature, the flow on the left lane goes somewhere 140-160 km / h, on the right 80 km / h. Therefore, if you want to go 100-120 km / h, then none of the lanes is suitable, you have to constantly change lanes from one to another. It's inconvenient, however.

After Rostov-on-Don, I got sick of the one-lane road, but this is more relevant for those who go to Anapa, Temryuk, (Port Kavkaz), that is, they leave the M-4 to the right. We drove this last stretch for a very long time, solid trucks (apparently they go just to Port Kavkaz). The trucks are dead, not only are you dragging 50-60 km / h behind them, but also in clouds of smoke, no cabin filters will save you. What if I had asthma? And it's hard to overtake, the flow is continuous. First, they exceed the permitted load, loading goods 2-3 times more in weight, so that the car cannot crawl up the hill and is killed, and then they buy a state MOT ticket, although this is no longer a car, but a steam locomotive, and they drive further.

For some reason, the Megafon catches quite badly along the entire road. You stop at a gas station so that Yegor can sleep and eat, you want to check your mail at the same time, post a photo, and the Internet is EDGE at best, that is, almost dead. In Rostov-on-Don, in the very center, exactly in the place where they rented an apartment, the situation is the same (the next day the quarter drove off and it started working). On the road Timashevsk-Slavyansk-on-Kuban-Anapa H + almost did not appear. In Dzhemet (a village near Anapa), 3G and H + are caught in places in the same way. I remember in 2011 I was with us, I still took notes along the way, scribbled, because it was impossible to post anything, sorry, little has changed since then.

Radio is everywhere, to put it mildly, for an amateur, either Russian retro or chanson. You need to take CDs or a flash drive with you. And by the way, not every radio tape recorder will steadily catch a signal at such distances from large cities.

Yandex Navigator leads the shortest way, even if it is a primer, there is no choice of "quick" or "short". And, if a navigator is not really needed for a trip along the M4 (there is nowhere to get lost there), then for inspections of any surroundings away from the highway, it is better to use normal navigators. They all disappeared from me with a change of phone, I have to reinstall it.

    Video

A short sketch of what a toilet looks like on the most modern highway in Russia, on the M4.

P.S. When we get to Sochi, and then we go back, maybe I’ll add something else.

P.P.S What application do you use for autonavigation in Russia?

Surely every country wants to create high quality roads. This enhances the prestige of the state. Modern autobahns make it possible to expand the transit of cars and commercial vehicles, which ultimately brings in a lot of money, filling the budget. Realizing the importance of the issue, the Russian government gave green light for the construction of a route from Moscow to northern capital RF - St. Petersburg.

Today our attention will be federal highway M4 "Don": toll sections, cost in 2018 for the passage of certain categories of vehicles. We will find out the traffic schedule for toll sections of the M4 highway and find out how many of them have been put into operation.

About tariffs for certain categories of vehicles

Vehicles with a certain number of axles are divided into four categories:

    1. Vehicles with two or more axles, including motorcycles with and without a sidecar. Two-wheeled vehicle with a trailer.
    2. Freight and passenger transport without a trailer and with it.
    3. Cargo and passenger vehicles with a height of 2.6 / 2 m.
    4. Trucks and passenger cars with a height of 2.6/3 m.

Let's find out how much it will cost to travel on the new road.

How much does it cost to travel on the M4 Don highway in 2018

All vehicles (vehicles) mentioned above can travel on the autobahn by paying the fare. This can be cash deposit or entry by T-pass card. It must be understood that the fare on the M4 Don 2018 toll highway for each vehicle category is different:

    1. For the first category, the cost of travel in cash is 80 rubles, with a T-pass card it is 24 rubles cheaper.
    2. Travel for the second category of cars for cash - 100 rubles. On the card - 70 rubles. Saving 30 rubles.
    3. For the third category of transport, movement along paid sections of the M4 autobahn is real money, it will be 120 rubles. With a T-pass card 96 rubles. Savings - 24 rubles.
    4. The fare for this category of car for cash is 240 rubles. on the map - 192 rubles. The savings is 48 rubles.

The indicated cost of toll sections of the M4 Don highway 2018 is relevant for today, the last tariff changes took place on May 28, 2018. It is necessary to monitor the relevance of tariffs, which will change for each category of transport.

Toll collection point on the M4 Don highway.

The tariff scale is valid until September 30th. The fare change time is 00.00 Moscow time.

If you need to know how many toll sections are on the M4 Don highway from Moscow to Rostov, pay attention to the map. The photo shows toll sections of the strategic autobahn, marked in orange. There are 10 paid sites in total.

It is relevant to know the possible ways of maneuver. The fact is that construction work can be carried out on the track in the summer. Many kilometers of traffic jams are created due to the narrowing of the road. Drivers have three ways to solve this problem:

    1. Stand for several hours, swallowing dust and breathing exhaust fumes.
    2. Drive around the problem area in the fields, which will significantly affect technical condition car.
    3. Determine in advance a bypass route for the congested part of the M4 and use the hints.

    note!

The diagram shows detours and free roads, which are marked in green and gray, respectively.

    Moscow region

The length of the section is 21-93 km. High quality road surface. Lighting fixtures are installed throughout.

The presented segment is already overgrown with infrastructure: hotels, cafes and gas stations located on both sides.

In the photo, the M4 highway, the Eurasia hotel in Aksai.

The maximum speed that the equipment can develop is 130 km / h in the segment from 51 to 71, from 76 to 94 km. Cars can move at a speed of 110 km/h on sections of the road from 21 to 51 and 70 to 76 km.

The free section of the route starts from the Moscow Ring Road and runs along the Kashirskoye Highway. It ends at junction 117 km. The total length is 106 km. The driver makes a small detour - only ten km.

In the photo, the M4 Don highway - a map with detailed information about alternative ways travel.

    Moscow and Tula region

Plot length toll road M4 is 118 km. (93-211). You can get around this segment by laying the route: Stupino-Kokino-Shemetyevo-Gremyacheye-Red Lakes. The driver will have to drive an additional 45 km.

Map of the M4 "Don" highway of the Moscow and Tula regions with kilometers of movement.

Bypassing the city of Bogoroditsk. The condition of the Don highway M4 today on this section does not cause any complaints. The road is in excellent operational condition. A stretch of 35 km (225-260) is free for high-speed movement.

Most trucks, in order to save money, go around it. Therefore, permitted maximum speed- 120 km / h.

An alternative free option is the route: Krutoy Verkh-Bogoroditsk-Kuzovka. The driver will not have to wind extra kilometers: there is no difference.

Alternative traffic areas exist and operate in the Rostov, Lipetsk, Tula regions, and the Krasnodar Territory. There is no point in describing them in detail. It is enough to use the information of the Avtodor construction company indicating the segments. See below. The first three sections: 21-93, 93-211, 225-260 are painted as an example.
