Winter holidays - what to take with you on the road? What to take on a long journey by car in winter

Short daylight hours coupled with lack of lighting; strong winds sweeping the canvas in a matter of hours; frost, which turns the track that has melted during the day into a skating rink - all this does car trips winter extreme view sports. In bad weather, it is better to heed the warnings of the traffic police and the Ministry of Emergencies and stay at home. But even if it is sunny in the morning, this does not mean that a snow storm will not break out in the evening. It is better to prepare for a possible emergency in advance: AiF.ru advises what should be taken in long way.

canister and funnel

Fuel is a running engine, it is a stove, it is light - in a word, it is life. On a long trip, do not let the gas tank gauge drop below half the scale. Even if you know that there are many gas stations on the highway, according to the law of meanness, they may be closed, or the required type of fuel will run out. In short, try to keep the tank full. And be sure to take canisters on the road: if the road is swept up, you may not get to the gas station.

How much fuel is reasonable to carry with you? Depends on the gluttony of your vehicle. Assume that the engine should run idle on “canister soldering” for about a day - spending the night and waiting for snowplows the next day. A passenger small car per hour “burns” a liter and a half of gasoline at idle; SUV - 3-4 liters. Keep in mind that in hard frost fuel consumption increases.

If you don't have canisters and don't know which ones to buy, buy metal ones. Plastic ones are lighter and do not rumble in the trunk, but there is a high risk of running into a cheap and unreliable one. Good canisters are made of petrol-resistant anti-static plastic and are not cheap. If you pour gasoline into a plastic container for water or oil (they are sold under the guise of fuel cans), after a while it will flow at the seams, or, even worse, gasoline will simply dissolve it. Finally, the rules for the technical operation of many gas stations prohibit the supply of gasoline in plastic containers.

Do not forget to buy a funnel for canisters - check that it fits the gas tank flap and does not need to be held. After all, you will have to hold the canister with both hands, and pants or boots doused with gasoline so “flavor” the interior that it will be impossible to be in a car with the windows closed.

"Crocodiles" or starting device

Problems with an old battery in cold weather are known to any motorist. Of course, it is better to update the electrolyte or even change the battery before long trip, but even a serviceable battery can be discharged for one reason or another. In this case, do not forget to put starting wires, the so-called "crocodiles", in the trunk. However, they will only help you if there is someone ready to “light up” on their battery. If your route runs through deserted secondary roads, it will not be superfluous to purchase a stand-alone launcher. This is not a cheap purchase, a “launcher” will cost 5-7 thousand rubles, but if you think about it, it’s not much more expensive than calling a tow truck in the wilderness; and in a critical situation, it is a priceless thing.

Rope, shovel, chains

The task is at least solved: with a supply of fuel and an autonomous starting device, you will not freeze in the car. But why sit in a snowdrift waiting for help when you can get out of difficult situation on one's own? The salvation of drowning people is the work of the drowning people themselves, and the main help here is the cable. This is clearly not the kind of thing that is worth saving on: the usual towing sling is of little use when it comes to releasing a car from snow captivity. A good dynamic (so-called "jerk") cable costs about five thousand rubles. But it is almost eternal and allows you to pull the car out of the ditch.

A folding snow shovel will not take up much space in the trunk, as well as anti-slip tape - a rubber mat with spikes. At worst, it can be replaced with an ordinary plastic net, like those that are spread in front of the entrance. These are all budget solutions for driving in the snow; if you are serious and ready to spend money, then the best choice- anti-skid chains. A good chain, put on the wheel without a jack and from the outside, costs from ten thousand rubles: it is expensive, but it significantly increases the car's cross-country ability.

Cloth

Even if you are dressed for the season, in extreme conditions a sweater and a thin down jacket may not be enough. The equipment of climbers and polar explorers is expensive, so the best option from the series "thrown in the trunk and forgot" - these are army things. A wadded jacket and pants, of course, are not a standard of elegance and convenience, but they are sold in any military department, and cost up to a thousand rubles. good company they will make felt boots or boots for winter fishing. A warm hat and fleece gloves can be bought cheaply at a sporting goods store. In such equipment, you will not freeze in winter even in a cold car.

Food, medicines and trifles

It’s easy to take a couple of chocolates and a bottle of water on the road, but if something happens, you won’t be full of them for a long time. Where better to buy a tourist gas burner: the device will cost a couple of thousand rubles, but the opportunity to eat hot in a snow storm is priceless. To pair with the burner, you should add a steel mug, stew and tea bags.

A first aid kit should be in every car, but the regulated set of the 2010 model is rather meager. It would be useful to “finish” the first-aid kit by adding hydrogen peroxide, paracetamol, antacid, nitroglycerin and something against diarrhea. Of course, in addition to these universal remedies, you should take medicines against your "sores" with you if you have something chronic.

Of the little things that should always be in the car, we note a flashlight: you should not buy the cheapest "noname", in a critical situation it will not be of any use. A good powerful flashlight will cost 3-4 thousand rubles; remember, it may be required not only to look for a dropped ruble on the floor, but also to signal rescuers or indicate vehicle at night if your battery fails. Replacement batteries and a dissipative cap should be included.

On winter holidays, the main task is to provide your body with the maximum feeling of comfort in sub-zero temperatures. You should not be cold, but at the same time, the clothes should absorb sweat well and leave the skin dry. To complete the task, you will have to spend money on high-quality winter clothes.

The list of things below will help you get ready for ski resort quickly and efficiently.

Clothing in the mountains

Thermal underwear should remove moisture from the skin and retain the heat that our body generates during physical activity.

You also need to take with you:

  • underwear;
  • the first layer of thermal underwear (top + bottom);
  • thermal socks (2 pcs.);
  • waterproof shoes (2 pairs);
  • thermal underwear (second layer, jacket under the throat);
  • waterproof trousers;
  • ski jacket;
  • wool cap;
  • balaclava (balaclava);
  • scarf;
  • waterproof gloves for skiing;
  • warm walking gloves

If possible, it is better to take two sets of the first layer of clothing. Since it is in contact with the body, it will need to be washed periodically.

Jackets and pants are water-resistant, so they dry faster and should hold up without any problems.

For evening trips to the city, you can use the usual things that you wear in winter.

  • In order not to forget anything important, we recommend that you look into

For skiing, a child needs everything that is on the adult list. But a ski suit for a baby will be a useful set of clothes both in the resort and in the city - purchase it in advance.

Think about what the fidget will do on the way to the ski lift and on free evenings: take educational games, coloring books, books.

first aid kit

  • painkillers;
  • headache tablets;
  • means for treating small wounds (cotton wool, bandage, brilliant green, iodine);
  • sports gels (warming and cooling);
  • medicines for colds and their symptoms;
  • medical insurance (required!);
  • ascorbic acid (improving immunity, helping to recuperate);
  • remedies for gastric poisoning;
  • hangover pills;

Be sure to buy medical insurance for fractures and other complex injuries. The ambulance will not be able to climb ski slope if something happens to you. A helicopter will be called, and 15 minutes of its use in Austria will cost at least 2,000 euros!

Insurance for skiers is more expensive than usual, but with the help you can always find best option.

Technique

  • telephone;
  • camera;
  • action-camera (if you plan to shoot your descents);
  • recharging;
  • tablet or netbook.

phones, cameras, charging device fold to the equipment in a separate section of the suitcase. This will make it easier to find them.

Take care of the tariff or roaming in advance if you are going to ski or snowboard far from your home region.

"Women things"

It just so happened that not a single man will take cream and hygienic lipstick with him. What else should you take with you? winter holidays woman?

  • hygienic lipstick;
  • moisturizer (and for him too!);
  • SPF cream (so that the face does not burn);
  • hair bands;
  • washcloth;
  • bath accessories;
  • robe;
  • razors and shaving foam;
  • means of protection;

Don't forget hair ties, conditioners and shampoos. Skiing with your hair down best idea. Even the braided hair ski slopes feel bad about strong wind and an abundance of snow.

Take your shaving set seriously for yourself and your significant other. It would hardly occur to men to think about the harm that frost and moist air will cause to the skin.

Even in the mountains, a woman should remain beautiful 🙂

Useful little things

  • thermos;
  • thermomugs;
  • a small wallet (preferably a belt bandage);
  • GPS-navigator and maps to it;
  • electric shoe dryer;
  • sunglasses (protection level at least 3 levels);
  • walkie-talkies (for negotiations on the slopes);
  • player (useful during walks in the fresh air);

A man should take care of the logistics of the holiday. Put snacks, such as chocolate bars, in your jacket pockets. Take the downhill routes and the entire area at the reception desk. Take care of a thermos or a thermal mug. Before going out on the slope, it should be filled not just with tea, but with liquid with sugar - this will restore the calories spent and improve well-being. Of course, in developed resorts there are many eateries or restaurants. However, skiers have the concept of "hungry" when severe hunger suddenly comes, to the point of stomach pain. This is where a sip of sweet tea and chocolate will help.

An electric shoe dryer is very useful. She dries the boots from the inside, not the outside. As practice shows, ski boots also need drying!

Write in the comments what else we forgot to add to the list and we will promptly replenish it.

A topic that interests everyone who travels relatively recently. We, having skated hundreds of thousands of kilometers outside our native St. Petersburg, have already got the hang of it and we know what to take with us on a trip without other people's lists - we have our own. Yes, and those are already in the head and do not need to be read. But we are not all. Someone, I hope, the information below will greatly facilitate the collection at any time of the year.

Other useful articles from the section "how to organize an independent trip":

Once I wrote a separate post called. There was also about the first-aid kit, and about documents, and about toys. So, if you haven’t read it yet, go for a walk using the link, you will learn a lot of useful things from what to take on a trip by car if a child is traveling in it. And in the same article, I mentioned that Tanya and I had very few trips during the cold season. Now I can't say that. Now in winter we travel a lot and often. That's why I took the liberty of giving advice on how what to take on a trip in winter - for a child and parents. And the car. And at the very end of the post, I will reveal one secret that I learned recently.

What to take with you on a trip - CLOTHING

Necessarily - wool socks. Adults - 2 pairs (to be able to change wet to dry), children - 3 pairs. For every fireman.

Mittens and (not or) gloves. It is ideal for a child to take modern waterproof mittens. But our Tanka cannot stand them and walks all winter in thin knitted mittens, the fashion of which has died back in the Soviet Union. But she is comfortable in them. Minus one - get wet. Therefore, I take for her two pairs of thicker mittens and gloves - they are still more comfortable. For adults (that is, us), two pairs of something comfortable, familiar and, preferably, waterproof are enough. In second-hand stores, by the way, any leggings/mittens can be bought for only 100 rubles.

Hats. It is ideal for children on a trip (and not only) to take a hat-helmet. It is convenient to shoot, there are no these terrible ties that any child instantly pulls into non-untied knots. And the throat is closed tightly and impenetrably. You can take several hats on children's heads if they get wet, I hope one is enough for adults. For adults, a comfortable and favorite hat of any style is enough (as a rule, there are no problems with ties in adult hats).

Jackets/overalls. The most difficult point regarding children's outerwear. It is comfortable to sit in the car in pants and without a jacket, so a separate jumpsuit is ideal. Walking through the winter slush is better in one-piece overalls. Therefore, if possible, it is better to take both options on a trip. For adults, such a variety, you know, is useless.

Important addition! Even if weather forecasts promise you non-hard frosts, the top take clothes taking into account a sudden cold snap to minus 30. And take zero Celsius too. And on plus 5. In our car, Tanya traveled in fleece, putting on an autumn jacket to run to the filling toilet, relatively thin trousers and woolen socks. And she cut through the Khatyn fields in a down jacket and cotton pants. We just took off our jackets, hats and mittens in the car.

One more addition. I do not really believe in the need to dress children in the “right” clothes, when three layers - thermal / fleece / membrane guarantee comfort, lightness and non-freezing of the whole body. If you are going to run around like mad while being on the street, then this option is perfect. If you can hang before looking at something and don’t like to run at all, then at minus 10 you will simply freeze in the “correct” attire. Save it for ski trips. In Minsk, wadded pants and down jackets saved us. Although the fleece was also. Without thermal underwear, although I love him tenderly and tenderly.

Shoes. Minimum two pairs per person! Even if you're not traveling by car and are wondering what to pack, find a place for an extra pair of shoes. Shoes can get wet, scoop snow "over the edge", dampen ... Before the trip, check that your feet fit into the shoes, being dressed in woolen socks. By the way, did you know that feminine sanitary napkins absorb moisture very well? This is in case there is no way to use the grandfather's method and stuff newspapers into wet shoes.

Sweatshirts / sweaters / leggings. At least one item per person.

With clothes for "going out to people" in the evenings, I think everyone will cope individually. Take the one that suits the planned events. Plus one set of "home suit". Because in wadded trousers evaporate beer in the evening to drink. And don't forget your slippers. And then I saw in one of the reviews on Booking- There were no slippers in the room. They are quite rare there.

What to pack for your trip - RELATED PRODUCTS

Sunglasses. Yes! It can be sunny and unpleasant. The glasses help me a lot on the road not to go blind from the sun hitting my eyes through the windshield. The winter sun is sometimes brighter than the summer sun.

Protective cream. From frost. I don't think anyone will argue with that. For cheeks, noses and hands.

Hygienic lipstick. Even Kesha, on the sly from all her friends, uses my lipstick during winter trips (which I never forget to take). And Tanya is a girl in general, and she won’t even go to the store without lipstick. Be sure to take it in advance, so that later you don’t run around local supermarkets and don’t overpay!

Paper handkerchiefs. Wipe snot (after a frost, they will flow from any, even the most healthy person), put origami, if it becomes boring, leave the driver, etc. About how to entertain a child who is forced to drive hundreds of kilometers at your whim, being fastened to a car seat, I advise you to read:. I am sincerely proud that Tanya does not watch cartoons in a moving car and, I am sure, will not watch. Therefore, on the subject of "how to entertain" I will soon write a dissertation. Maybe. With examples of paper handkerchief toys.

Potty for a child. Winter is not summer, and I advise everyone to take a potty on a trip who has a child who does not go to school by age, but who has already psychologically grown out of diapers. You can’t wait until refueling, and children (especially girls) should not write in a snowdrift. And with a certain share of dexterity, you can use the pot right in the car.

What to take with you on a trip - AUTO GOODS

Here, of course, the floor must be given to Kesha, but he has no time. Therefore, I will write myself on the basis of general experience.

Antifreeze. One that will not freeze, like ours during the last road trip at minus ten, and will not defrost until the very return. You can throw snow on the windshield, but too lazy.

Wheel chains. To get out of the snow. Although they do not interfere in the summer. We would not have been interfered with on the Moscow Ring Road, when, on the very first night before a trip to Georgia, we carefully planted the car up to the very windows in the impassable Moscow mud.

For the same reason, the car must have shovel and strong tow rope.

Might be worth taking spare wipers. What if those on the glass break, and a snowstorm begins? ...

Life hack in the end

And an important life hack that not all mortals know about. But truckers often use it. In winter, it is worth taking a brick with you on a trip. The most common, red. But soaked in advance (during the day) in diesel fuel. Then pack it more tightly and take it out when you suddenly need to warm up. Such a brick burns up to 9 hours (what if someone is waiting somewhere?). It can also be (already extinguished) put in the interior of the car and used as a heater.

Things and equipment for winter hike much heavier, more specific and significantly more expensive than for summer. Much has come to tourism from mountaineering, where various know-how and high technologies are being tested with might and main. Now all these innovations have become available to a wide range of tourists: light, comfortable and expensive.

Previously, tourists made everything themselves, from improvised means, but all these homemade products are not even close to high-tech branded products that make life much easier.

The temperature range in winter is very wide: from -25 to + 10. Accordingly, clothing should be versatile and at the same time light and compact.

Below are lists of equipment and things that you really need to take with you. Everything else can be safely left at home. Please note that this lists only PERSONAL equipment . Group (gas burners and cylinders, boilers, a shovel, campfire equipment, awnings, GPS, etc.) - how much and what kind - the guide decides depending on the specific conditions. And he takes it himself, then distributes it among the participants in the campaign.

Equipment:

Backpack, tent, sleeping bag, rugs, bowl, spoon, mug, knife, sun goggles (ski mask), raincoat, backpack cape, plastic bottle 1-1.5 l, thermos, flashlight, shoe covers or leggings, snowshoes (skis ), trekking poles, personal first aid kit (if necessary, do not duplicate the composition group first aid kit), hygiene products, toilet paper(half roll), camera, mobile phone, money and documents.

Things:

Shoes, hat, gloves, thermal underwear, 2 fleece jackets, a membrane jacket with a hood, wind or membrane pants, fleece pants, drop-off pants (or just warm pants), a warm puff jacket, a windproof mask (balaclava), socks, a small book .

It is very convenient to pack all things in a hermetic bag. So they will decrease in volume by 1.5-2 times and never get wet. The bags are sold in tourist shops. There are different sizes: S, M, L. Take M (15l).

Now about everything in detail.

Equipment.

Backpack. For men, optimally 75-90 liters, for women 50-60 liters. Backpacks with a frame and waist belt remove 70-95% of the load from the spine and transfer it directly to the legs through the hips. The stiffer the frame and belt, the better the load is removed from the shoulders. Here are some ratings from own experience: Deuter Aircontact backpack (weight 3kg) is very rigid, takes up to 95% of the weight from the spine, suitable for carrying loads up to 25 kg. Deuter Act Lite (2.1kg) and Osprey Kestrel (1.8kg) will remove up to 80%, suitable for loads up to 18kg. If you do not have serious back problems (curvature, stoop), take a lighter backpack.
All things must fit inside the backpack. Attached outside can get wet, get lost, and break into bushes. Outside, you can only strengthen the rug. It is better to place it in a special case so that it does not fight against the branches.

Tent. There are no options here. Only winter, two-layer with a fabric bottom and aluminum arcs, with a vestibule. The bottom is made of polyethylene, reinforced with polypropylene fibers and fiberglass arcs in frost below -10 become brittle. Good options are "2 + 1" for three and "3 + 1" for four. Take a tent that will be filled to capacity, the lowest one (less space to warm up and good wind resistance) - it's warmer, more reliable and lighter.

sleeping bag. Winter, with a comfort temperature of -7 ° and below. Weighing no more than 2 kg.

Rug(aka karemat, foam). The best option is an inflatable mat plus a foam mat. The easiest option is two ordinary foam rugs. One will definitely be cold. And to take one inflatable, even a thick winter one, is dumb, often pierced.

Sun glasses (ski mask). For UV, wind and blizzard protection. Preferably slightly darkened or completely transparent, but with 100% UV protection. If the glasses - then like a bicycle, streamlined, not reducing the view. There are special branded ones for $50-100. Streamlined goggles have appeared in specialized tool stores, which are not inferior in elegance to ordinary sunglasses. With durable plastic lenses, good clarity and 100% UV protection. Only $5-20.

Bowl, mug, spoon, knife. As a bowl, a plastic container with a lid with a capacity of 0.5-1 l is best. It is convenient to steam oatmeal and vermicelli in it. You can store and carry different products.
Mug - stainless steel 250-400ml. A thermal mug (with double walls) is undesirable - it is heavy and you can’t heat anything in it. If there is a fire nearby, then even in winter a thermal mug is not needed. It is better not to take plastic mugs - they often break and melt.
Spoon - ordinary, preferably dessert, stainless steel. It is 2 times lighter than the dining room. It is better not to take wooden and plastic options - they break and burn. A fork and a teaspoon are not needed at all.
Knife - you need 2 pieces per group. Ordinary, small folding. I take a small Swiss one with different openers and a corkscrew. You can not take a knife at all. And mine alone will be enough in case of emergency if no one takes it. There will be nowhere to use a large hunting knife.

Shoe covers or gaiters. Needed to protect shoes and feet from water, snow and sharp ice. Shoe covers - with their own sole, top made of durable fabric. High, to the knees. The leg, together with the shoe, is put on a shoe cover. There are branded expensive ones, but you can make your own. See shoe covers making instructions. Any shoes are suitable for shoe covers, even city shoes, as long as they are warm and comfortable. If you have good modern mountain or trekking boots ($200-500) with all the bells and whistles - breathable Gore-Tex, warm Polartec, etc., then there remains the problem of protecting the junction of the boot with the pants from snow. Then you can limit yourself to gaiters. These are boot covers without soles, a pipe made of durable fabric, attached to the boot with a hook and a strap (under the sole), tightened with a cord under the knee so that they do not slip. Sold ready-made for $ 10-15. You can do it yourself. Nothing complicated.

Snowshoes (skis). If the snow on the route is deep, and this is usually known in advance, then it would be good to take snowshoes. The many home-made ones that have been tested before completely pale in front of the branded "TSL" ($ 150-300). They are also equipped with spikes, replace crampons on ice and firn. But it is desirable for the whole group to be in snowshoes. It’s impossible to trail in a snowshoe, it’s even better to walk in a line, and not track to track. Therefore, if there are less than 3-4 people without snowshoes, it will be hard for them. Yes, splitting up is bad. Take skis if you have experience using them. Learning on a hike usually does not work, so they will pass on you. Without sufficient experience, you can only walk on a flat surface, and up or down - faster on foot. And we just don't walk on level ground...

Trekking poles. Sticks significantly reduce the load on the ankle, knees and spine. They also help you keep your balance on the descents and ascents. Very helpful when traversing a slope. In the parking lot they serve as racks for awnings and tents. Take folding from three sections. Remember to take wide snow stops, like ski poles.

Raincoat, backpack cover. Even in winter, rain is not uncommon. The cheapest raincoat is a polyethylene raincoat for $0.5-2. But these are quickly torn against branches and stones. You need to have at least 2. For a hike, a special poncho made of light tent fabric is better, covering a person along with a backpack ($ 30-50). Does not restrict movement, well ventilated (perfect sweat wicking). The disadvantage is a large volume, clings to branches.

The use of a rain jacket paired with rain pants or a raincoat worn under a backpack is not acceptable when walking with a backpack. The body releases too much moisture, which does not evaporate through the raincoat. As a result, you will get wet from the inside no less than from the rain. Another thing in the parking lot - the jacket fits.

Thermos and empty plastic bottle. During the day we do not heat water for dinner. Therefore, hot drinks should be prepared at breakfast and carried in a thermos. Enough 0.7 - 1.0 liters per person. Optimum unbreakable stainless steel. Arrange a suitability test for your thermos: pour full boiling water, tighten all the lids, just do not put on a cover (if any). Leave at room temperature. After 5 hours, the water temperature should not fall below 72-75 ° (you will not burn your finger, but do not hold it for more than 1 second), after 9 hours - not lower than 64 ° (do not hold your finger for longer than 2-3 seconds). If it cools faster, it's not a thermos. Plastic bottle needed to collect and carry water in the parking lot. Enough 1-1.5l per person.

Flashlight. Headlamp LED flashlight. Even if you don't have one, be sure to buy it. Best of all - on one powerful LED. Insert fresh alkaline (alkaline) batteries, or rechargeable batteries, spares are not needed. Important! When transporting and carrying a backpack, remove the batteries from the flashlight (especially cheap ones) to avoid accidental activation.

first aid kit. Of course, the guide will have a first aid kit. Its composition is here: camping first aid kit. If you need additional medicines, take them yourself.
If you have frequent problems with calluses or joints, tendons, take a band-aid and an elastic bandage for yourself. Plaster in a roll 4-5 cm wide on a fabric basis, without pads.

Hygiene products. Soap is enough for a small piece of 30-40 gr. Toothbrush, no toothpaste (it will freeze and not squeeze out of the tube). Hand and face cream, hygienic lipstick - the face and lips become very weathered out of habit. Packing of wet wipes - they can be washed if you are reluctant to climb into cold water.

Toilet paper. Half a roll per person is enough.

Camera. There will be nowhere to charge equipment. Therefore, take spare batteries or save the ones you have. You don't need to bring a photo tripod.

Mobile phone. For security reasons, everyone should have a mobile phone. In a separate waterproof package. Fully charged and with money in the account. There will be nowhere to charge it. It is advisable to take a power bank.

Important numbers that may come in handy during the hike ( my phones and telephones of the conductor in the first place), write it down on paper and put it not with money. For insurance against various cases.

Money and documents. Required Passport or a document replacing it. Keep money and documents in separate waterproof packaging.

Things.

Shoes. She needs to give Special attention. It is desirable that these be special trekking or mountain high boots. Their sole has good grip on wet and dry stones, ice, soil. The upper is extra strong leather, securely glued and sewn to the sole. Inside, there is usually a Gore-Tex type membrane to remove excess moisture. Such shoes are not sold on the market, only in sports stores, preferably in tourist ones.

Choose the size so that even in two warm socks there is free space for moving your fingers.

Never take new shoes on a hike. Be sure to walk in it for several days, it is better to run or play active games. In short, you need to spread. If it turns out that the size is not the right one, wash it with a sponge and change it. Hiking shoes will not lose their new look even after a few days of wearing. Did so many times. The main thing is to save and return all the tags to their place.

If you buy or make shoe covers with galoshes, then ordinary reliable city boots will go with them.

Warm hat, gloves. The hat is warm, best of all - fleece. A budget option- acrylic. She must wear the hood of the jacket.

Gloves (preferably mittens) - 2 pairs. Suitable ski - nylon with insulation. You can use fleece or other warm ones, and on top, if necessary, wear "tops" - made of waterproof fabric to protect against wind and water.

thermal underwear. Hiking items should not contain cotton. It retains a lot of moisture and does not dry well. Synthetic is better. The ideal option is polyester. Thermal underwear is usually sold as a set - a long-sleeve top and pants. It happens in different thicknesses (respectively, warmth). For generality, you can take the average. It will always be with you, day and night. When wet, it dries quickly on the body.

As an alternative, a polyester golf or long-sleeved T-shirt is suitable, and acrylic warm (but not very) tights.

Fleece jackets. Fleece (Polar, Polartec) is a godsend for a tourist. Holds very little moisture. If you just squeeze it out, it is already dry to the touch and warms. Take 2 pieces. During the day at the crossing, you will wear one fleece jacket directly over the thermal underwear, both at the parking lot. Both, or at least one, must be collared to the chin.

Jacket with a hood. Jacket made of durable fabric, with an inner skirt from snow and wind, puffs on the sleeves, with a mesh lining, without insulation. Waterproof and breathable (with membrane). Will be worn over a fleece jacket during transitions and parking.

wind pants. Made of durable fabric, waterproof and breathable, no insulation. With puff skirts at the bottom. Will wear thermal underwear or fleece pants during transitions.

Fleece pants. They are good for sleeping in, and in extreme cold they are worn instead of or together with thermal underwear during the transition. In the temperature range -5 + 5, I wear thermal underwear and fleece pants without windbreakers. If you can't find it, you can buy a piece of fleece and sew pants in the atelier. The most simple, with an elastic band, without pockets.

Pants - self-resetting. Comfortable in frosts below -10. Warm pants like a ski bib with zippers on the sides. They dress without taking off their shoes over everything. They are used in parking and halts. Instead, you can take ski pants or semi-overalls, or even simple puffy pants with synthetic winterizer insulation.

Warm jacket - puff. Needed when frost is below -10. Weighing up to 600gr. If it’s not completely cold, it will also go on a synthetic winterizer. It is worn over everything in parking lots and halts.

Windproof mask (balaclava). It is worn under a hat in strong cold winds. It is a sleeve with a large opening for the entire face, descending to the shoulders.

Socks. Fleece or trekking warm. 3 pairs. I used to use woolen "grandmother's knitting" for sleep, but the slightest wetting makes them cold, and then they dry for a long time. Cotton and linen in the composition of socks are strictly unacceptable. Wool is acceptable, but not more than 35%. We also recommend taking warm membrane socks. The foot will be almost dry and, most importantly, warm, even if the water squishes in the boot. Also, it is very comfortable to cross cold rivers in such socks. We have tested Dex Shell firms, not to say that it is expensive and the quality is good.

Which is definitely not worth taking.
