Modern civilization has made eternal youth its fetish. But nature is relentless: even the richest and most famous sooner or later surrender to her mercy. However, the "third age", as old age is now politically correct, has its advantages - for example, the opportunity to escape from the bustle of business, usefully relax, take care of yourself. Moreover, grown up and accomplished children are ready to help in this.
How can we help our elderly parents find their vacation to their liking? Oddly enough, this task is not easy. And in order to solve it correctly, you need to understand well what the old people really want and what opportunities exist for the realization of their desires.

What is the "autumn of life"

Three centuries ago, old age came at 40. What can I say, back in the middle of the last century, the age of 50-60 years was considered almost advanced. But today, "fifty kopecks" is a period of very high intellectual and labor activity. Nevertheless, older people have certain features associated with changes in physiology and psyche, and they must be taken into account both in everyday communication and when choosing the type of rest.
In Russian gerontology (the science of aging), the concept of functional age has been introduced, which reflects the dynamics of physiological functions, is determined by the genetic component, lifestyle, past diseases and injuries, the amount of stress, physical, mental and intellectual activity. There is also a psychological age - a group of indicators that characterize the age measurements of the psyche, as well as a biological one - an indicator of the level of deterioration of the structure and functions of the body. And they almost never match...
It is clear that for practical application, another tool is needed to more clearly define the capabilities and needs of an elderly person. A convenient classification was proposed by the famous gerontologist Karol Roschak. He formulated four strategies for adapting to age-related changes, which reflect both the physiology and personality of a particular person.

"Design Type"

Characterizes a mature personality, well integrated into society. Until a very old age, they retain the opportunity to enjoy life, maintain close and deep relationships with other people. Such old people are patient, remain flexible psychologically, are really and positively aware of themselves, their achievements, opportunities and prospects.

"Defensive Type"

A less constructive model of adaptation to old age. Such people are overly emotionally restrained, straightforward in their actions and habits. They prefer self-sufficiency, because they hardly accept help from other people. They avoid self-assessments, do not share their life or family problems, and tend to refuse help. The defensive position is manifested even in the family, while they avoid open manifestations of discontent.

"Aggressive-active type"

People of this type are suspicious and quite aggressive. They also tend to blame others for their own problems and blame them for their failures. Such old people often inadequately assess reality. Distrust makes them withdraw and avoid contact with other people. People of this type are often unable to accept age-related changes, bitterly think about the impossibility of living as before. This is accompanied by a hostile attitude towards young people, and often - to the whole world.

"Type of passive aging"

Unlike the previous one, aggression of this type is not directed outside, but at oneself. Such people are often very critical of their own lives. They are passive, sometimes get depressed, rarely show initiative. Such old people, as a rule, are pessimists who feel like a hostage to circumstances. At the same time, they accept their own old age and are not inclined to grumble.
In order for older people, no matter what type they are, to maintain an interest in life, relatives must constantly positively motivate them to remain active. This is the only way to really not only extend the life of the elderly, but also make it of high quality. Indeed, breaking out of the everyday environment, people of the "third age" break the stereotypes imposed on them both by physiology and the environment and literally gain a second youth.
However, it is clear that each of these psychological options needs a different form of relaxation. And in order to select the best option, you should first take a closer look at how a person close to you behaves, and then decide on the choice of what recreation specialists offer.

Where to go?

Today, as before, organized vacation can be, albeit rather arbitrarily, divided into two broad categories - active and passive. The first one includes route tourism and its variations. To the second - a sanatorium-resort "relaxation", often associated with a beach holiday.
As a rule, route tourism and its "brutal" types - hunting and partly fishing, which are associated with quite significant physical effort, are chosen by young people. However, a person who is accustomed to such a pastime from a young age, and at an age tries to go hiking, choosing, however, more and more simple routes.
Interestingly, in old age, it is this contingent that often begins to choose sightseeing and cruise vacations: the habit of activity, including mental activity, a unique combination of individualism and the ability to integrate into a team make such pensioners ideal clients for travel companies specializing in active and educational areas. At the same time, Russian old people are fundamentally different from their foreign peers.
“Our elderly tourists,” says Olga Kilimnik, director of the only national cruise tour operator in Russia, Metropolis Cruise, “are very active both physically and intellectually. In addition, these people are very educated and inquisitive, ready for new experiences. They easily merge into a team of different ages, communicating with younger people with mutual pleasure. On the other hand, our "age" tourists, as a rule, do not know well foreign languages, therefore prefer the companies of compatriots. There are certain features in catering for them - Russians, especially of retirement age, can hardly endure unusual cuisine. Therefore, we always develop the programs of national “Russian” tours taking into account these realities.”
For example, in such national cruises, a much wider excursion program, be sure to have a Russian-speaking doctor (this is very important for the elderly), all the staff speak Russian. As a rule, older tourists themselves appreciate this very highly.
At the same time, it cannot be said that this type of vacation is inaccessible to the majority. "Today in Russia in sea cruises Representatives of completely different social strata are sent, - says Olga Kilimnik. “It's not just successful entrepreneurs anymore. Successful and wealthy children are increasingly sending their parents to sea travel».
Speaking about a spa holiday, you need to remember that it is focused on a specific contingent, as a rule, people who are physically weakened. There are quite a lot of hypochondriacs out there, who do not have serious health problems, but are very concerned about them. Accordingly, the resorts are aimed at increased comfort and an almost hospital-like lifestyle. hard mode, healing procedures, diet food, as a rule - a minimum of trips and excursions. At the same time, the length of stay, as a rule, is higher than in other types of recreation - due to treatment programs. All these factors make resort tourism a very expensive pleasure. On the other hand, during the rest old man receives not only close medical supervision, but also, in literally, “stores” health for long term. "The effect of spa treatment, - considers the general practitioner, endocrinologist Galina Komarova, - is quite noticeable and can last for a considerable time - from six months to a year, depending on the state of health and disease. Often, after well-performed balneological and resort procedures, there is a steady improvement, remission in chronic patients, so if a person, especially the elderly, is recommended such a rest, he should be given preference.

To each his own

It should always be remembered that with the retirement of aging people, the stereotype of life changes dramatically and qualitatively. At the same time, due to age characteristics, adaptability to a change in the situation is significantly reduced. That is why gerontologists consider social adaptation to be the main problem of the “third age”. Under it is understood, on the one hand, the constant process of active adaptation of a person to the conditions of the social environment, and on the other hand, the result of this process. As in most events of this kind, two outcomes are possible: adaptation (the optimal balance of personality and environment) and maladaptation (violation of the habitual balance). corresponding to the characteristics of a particular person, can significantly facilitate the achievement of the "correct" adaptation.
Active recreation, for example, travel, can fill the life of an elderly person with new vivid impressions, unusual situations and surroundings, and even the vicissitudes of the road. This, by the way, can awaken emotions even in a “protective” type that is closed in itself - adventures surprise, shock, frighten, delight, amuse - in a word, they again make you fully live and feel.
On the other hand, comfort and a “circle of like-minded people” are important for an “aggressively active” person, so not all types of active rest fit him. "Constructive" gladly accepts new experiences, but may overestimate his strength, for example, on a long trip. And for a “passive” person, the chance to get out of his “cocoon” is important, so a change of impressions and a team of different ages can become a real key to a second youth.
On the other hand, a “constructive” person, with a high degree of probability, will get bored in a sanatorium - he needs both physical and intellectual stress. "Passive", perhaps even more withdraw into itself. But the “aggressive-active”, on the contrary, will be glad of the opportunity to receive sympathetic attention to their problems, especially since the environment will match in age and way of thinking. For the "protective" type, such a rest will be an opportunity to weaken self-control, trusting the medical staff.
However, there is always a need individual approach: “According to many years of observations, - says Olga Kilimnik, - cruises, especially national, “Russian”, are perfectly perceived by all types of the elderly. As a rule, about a quarter of the passengers on our ships are aged people, and usually all psychotypes are represented, in one proportion or another. Practice has shown that in the process of communication they find well mutual language between themselves and other passengers. Even aggressively active old people get the main thing for them - a grateful audience and new topics for discussion and criticism.
When choosing a type of recreation, it is worth paying all attention to the state of health of an elderly person. Before leaving, it is advisable to undergo a medical examination, it will not be superfluous exchange card in which the attending physician will make an extract from the medical history and give the necessary recommendations. This is important not only in sanatorium treatment, but also in other situations - in case of ailments, it will be easier for doctors to deal with the situation and prescribe adequate therapy.
It should be borne in mind that going anywhere, including on vacation, is always stressful, especially for older people, no matter how independent they may be. Therefore, the older generation should be protected as much as possible from the negative aspects of fees - paying for a tour, obtaining visas, purchasing tickets, delivery problems to the destination, etc. Moreover, these days it is easy to organize. You need to understand that the less anxiety, the greater the benefits of rest.

The expression “movement is life” may sound trite, but it very accurately reflects reality. The opportunity to diversify life, break out of the usual whirlwind, destroy stereotypes is a significant chance for an elderly person to maintain both physical and intellectual activity for many years. And the right choice of rest can be the real key to " eternal youth».

Your parents are people too, and they also dream of going on vacation. And if their health is not very good, then it is better for you to turn to specialists in order to choose a suitable resort together, where parents can relax and improve their health. Where to send parents in the summer?

The peculiarity of planning the rest of an elderly person is that, in addition to careful selection climate zone, a country with a favorable political environment, a resort with a high level of service, a hotel with convenient infrastructure, it is necessary to provide for many more minute details. That is why the question of where to send parents in the summer is quite complicated. After all, an elderly person needs special conditions, even if he says that he is unpretentious and is content with what he has.

planning summer rest For parents, it is worth considering a few nuances. For example, the travel time from home to the resort should not be long, and the road should not be tiring. Also, older people should not drastically change climatic conditions. People living in the central part of Russia will not fit humid tropics. Moreover, with a high level of humidity, rest can become a real hard labor for those who have problems with the cardiovascular system.

When choosing a hotel, it is worth considering the availability of conditions for an elderly person. For example, in a hotel located on a mountain, the whole test is to walk from the room to the restaurant or the beach. Agree, the choice is not easy. However, we have something to offer those who are looking for a resort with a relaxed atmosphere, a pleasant climate and opportunities for the improvement of Russian-speaking pensioners.

Accordingly, the resorts are aimed at increased comfort and an almost hospital-like lifestyle. A strict regimen, medical procedures, dietary nutrition and, as a rule, a minimum of trips and excursions. At the same time, the length of stay is higher than in other types of recreation - due to treatment programs. All these factors make resort tourism a very expensive pleasure. On the other hand, during the rest, an elderly person receives not only close medical supervision, but also "stores" health for a long time. "The effect of spa treatment, - says the therapist, endocrinologist Galina Komarova, - is quite noticeable and can last a considerable time - from six months to a year, depending on the state of health and disease. Often, after well-performed balneological and spa procedures, there is a steady improvement, remission in chronic patients. Therefore, if such a rest is recommended for a person, especially the elderly, he should be given preference.

To each his own

It should always be remembered that with the retirement of aging people, the stereotype of life changes dramatically and qualitatively. At the same time, due to age characteristics, adaptability to a change in the situation is significantly reduced. That is why gerontologists consider social adaptation to be the main problem of the "third age". Under it is understood, on the one hand, the constant process of active adaptation of a person to the conditions of the social environment, and on the other hand, the result of this process. As in most events of this kind, two outcomes are possible: adaptation (the optimal balance of the individual and the environment) and maladaptation (violation of the usual balance).

Active recreation, such as travel, can fill the life of an elderly person with new vivid impressions, unusual situations and surroundings, and even the vicissitudes of the road. This, by the way, will be able to awaken emotions even in a "protective" type that is closed in itself - adventures surprise, shock, frighten, delight, amuse - in a word, they again make you fully live and feel.

On the other hand, comfort and a “circle of like-minded people” are important for an “aggressively active” person, so not all types of outdoor activities will suit him. "Constructive" gladly accepts new experiences, but may overestimate his strength, for example, in a long hike. And for the "passive" the chance to get out of his "cocoon" is important, so a change of impressions and a team of different ages can become a real key to a second youth.

On the other hand, a "constructive" person, with a high degree of probability, will get bored in a sanatorium - he needs both physical and intellectual stress. "Passive", perhaps even more withdrawn into himself. But the "aggressively-active", on the contrary, will be glad of the opportunity to receive sympathetic attention to their problems, especially since the environment will match in age and way of thinking. For the "protective" type, such a rest will be an opportunity to weaken self-control, trusting the medical staff.

However, an individual approach is always needed. “According to many years of observations,” says Olga Kilimnik, “cruises, especially national,“ Russian ”cruises, are perfectly perceived by all types of older people. As a rule, about a quarter of the passengers on our ships are aged people, and they are usually presented in one proportion or another ", all psychotypes. Practice has shown that in the process of communication they find a common language between themselves and other passengers. Even aggressively active pensioners get the main thing for them - a grateful audience and new topics for conversation."

When choosing a type of recreation, it is worth paying all attention to the state of health of an elderly person. Before leaving, it is advisable to undergo a medical examination, and an exchange card will also be useful, in which the attending physician will make an extract from the medical history and give the necessary recommendations. This is important not only in sanatorium treatment, but also in other situations - in case of ailments, it will be easier for doctors to deal with the situation and prescribe adequate therapy.

It should be borne in mind that going anywhere, including on vacation, is always stressful, especially for older people, even if they are quite independent.

The expression "movement is life" may sound trite, but it very accurately reflects reality. The opportunity to diversify life, break out of the usual whirlwind, destroy stereotypes is a significant chance for an elderly person to maintain both physical and intellectual activity for many years. And the right choice of rest can be a real key to "eternal youth".

Comment on the article "Vacation for our parents: how to organize a vacation for elderly relatives"

Where to relax with a special child? We are considering a variety of options - Crimea, the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov, Montenegro, Greece. Interested in the sea, and the roads to the sea with the least number of steps - a large child (15 years old), in a stroller.

Peloponnese, Greece

There are a lot of wheelchair users in Croatia. For example, the Zora Hotel in Primosten. City without stairs. The pool is on the same level as the hotel, the beach is pebbly. In Cavtat, the beach is sandy, but in August it is overpopulated. But also Hotels, the city, the embankment without stairs.

We lived there, it was a long time ago))

The sea and the sun this year is impossible because of health. - not the Baltic Sea). = are you considering the sea?
Karlovy Vary?
I would like to go by car --- from Moscow. together? Are you driving?

Section: Where to go? Where to go for beach holiday an elderly person? In the second half of August. Given the respectable age of 70+, a moderately hot, gentle climate without sudden pressure drops matters. The best option, of course - these are the sanatoriums of the South Coast ...

Section: Where to go? And where to relax in the summer, if the heat is contraindicated? Vacation in August. Section: Where to go? (where you can relax if the sun is contraindicated). Montenegro in July is not hot at all, and if you go to the mountains, then you can go through August in a jacket ...

Where to go alone? ... I find it difficult to choose a section. Package tourism. I want to go at the end of June for a week somewhere to rest ... So that I can take a break from everyone, everyone, everyone. If you are not a fool and there is a certain amount of denyuzhek, there is always something to do.

can i get in? me for you 2 places on the tongue ask :))) I was in both :)))
1. In Spain - Benedorm (fly to Alicante). It’s on the Costa Blanca, a resort for pensioners :))) It’s sooooo calm there, I was with my girlfriend, she’s also like me - wander around, take a walk, we visited nightclubs once, for general education, so to speak :))).
Sit in the "Gran Bali" - it's a feast of the stomach, any boots will fit later :)) Champagne in the morning, and finally the local restaurant is beyond praise, although the hotel is only 4 + stars. But the highest in Europe :))) (Now I see on tourist sites that 5 stars, they lie godlessly).
The beaches are all urban, the sea is cool. Walk around the city in the evening, and even outside the town - pzhalsta! Shopping - he likes - a lot of all sorts of shops in the city, he likes - behind him are a large pair of shopping centers.
And most importantly - on the outskirts, we walked on foot :))) - AQUAPARK, no worse than Barcelona, with sea water, he likes - I'll show you pictures ?! In paper form.
And the amusement park TERRA MITIKA, not far by bus. Thematic - Dr. Greece, Dr. Rome, Egypt, etc. - class! In general, 2 weeks flew by like one.

2. Baden-Baden, Germany.
SPA - "Thermae of Caracalla"!!! Session 3 hours - 18 euros was. There are 2 floors
FSYAKIKH baths, hydromassages, falls, thermal salons, saunas. etc., etc. - heaven for the body!
The city is beautiful, European - one word. Walk anywhere. Very beautiful. Shopping is like everywhere else. Prices are actually much lower than we might think from the name of the city. It is better to try to book through travel agencies in Germany. There, in general, in the private sector, and 20 euros a day, you could rent a house. I would send my parents there for a week or two - an ideal place.
I won’t say about shopping, it wasn’t there, but if you have time, it simply can’t be there!

3. Don't go to Karlovy Vary! After the listed places, the local pools, baths and other sources seem ... "it must be spoiled like that!" Be-e-e.. The city center is old and restored, but very small for walking during the week ... Socialism has grown there painfully, and you don’t want to walk in such a place in the sand ... Shopping there was short, and firms are presented "on hearing" which, but this is the only thing that I liked, except for the center.

Do you want me to answer "on the other side of the barricades"? After my 3 years, my parents rested with me 2 (two) times: a cruise on the Volga at 14 and three days at sea at 16. Not only the whole summer was always spent with my grandmother in the country or on trips, moreover, my parents went on vacation in the fall , again leaving me alone with my grandmother. At school age, I, a child, also wanted to take a break from my parents. Parents who come to the dacha on the weekend are a holiday, goodies, hugging kisses, pampering, in short. Unlike the daily educational process :) At the same time, they were always not at all strict with me. When your parents are on vacation for a month, you have time to miss them, they miss them too, when they return from their children and parents " Honeymoon":))) And all these putting to bed, feeding and separation are perceived much more positively. Relations with parents, by the way, were and are excellent, we still see each other almost every day, we live 10 minutes walk from each other, they are very help, regardless of age. Well, I will do my best to help them when the need arises. So go and think that separate holidays are only for the benefit of everyone, not just you and your husband.

Temperature 19-23 air, night 13-15 degrees, water 21 degrees.
I found an agency here at a conference, a network one, all documents are drawn up according to the form, i.e. honestly:)
