The oldest Swiss ski resort, a fashionable (and expensive) meeting place for the elite. It is located in the Engadine Valley, on the shores of the transparent mountain lake Lei da Sant Murezzan.
St. Moritz is rightly proud of a series of famous tracks for bobsledders, skiers, lugers, which host world-class competitions.
Guests are offered 350 km ski slopes, 180 km for cross-country skiers. There are five main skiing sectors for athletes of different levels. The most popular are Corviglia (2488 m, dangerous slopes and difficult slopes for professional snowboarders and skiers), Diavolezza (2973 m) and Corvatsch (3451 m) - gentle slopes and safe slopes for beginners. A sledge track 4.2 km long has been laid. It offers tourists 60 funiculars and lifts.
St. Moritz offers a large number of contemporary ice rinks, toboggan runs, bobsleigh, rock climbing. Polo and cricket games, curling, horse racing, etc. are held on the ice of the lake. World-class winter sports competitions are constantly held here.
There are 322 sunny days a year in the valley. The ski season lasts from the second decade of December to the end of March.
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France
The Chamonix Valley that gave its name famous resort lies at the foot of the majestic Mont Blanc. It was here that the first winter Olympic Games 1924.

Megeve, France
The Savoyard town of Megeve has managed to preserve the spirit of antiquity, combining it with modern comfort. Majestic mountain peaks (only 20 km to Mont Blanc) surround it from all sides. The special atmosphere of the town with cobbled streets and ancient buildings emphasized by the surroundings of spruce and fir forests, protecting it from winter winds.
325 km of ski slopes with a maximum height of 2350 m are designed for skiers of different skill levels.
The longest route is 9 km. Many trails are laid in woodland which makes them especially attractive. There are 41 lifts in operation.
Megève offers three well-equipped ski areas: Mont d'Arbois, Rochebrune-Cote and Les Jails. Mont d'Arbois is located in the southwest, offering difficult slopes and steep drops for experienced skiers. It is connected by a pendulum road with Rochebrune-Cote. Rochebrune is a long descent through the forest, as well as difficult trails. A cable car takes you to the nature reserve. Here, for fans of extreme sports, there is a certified track for downhill skiing.
The first snow falls in October and stays until April. The ski season lasts from December to March.
Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy
The only representative of Italy in the "Best of the Alps", this ski resort is located in the north of the country, in the Dolomites. The 1956 Winter Olympics were held here. Snow cannons are used to maintain the tracks. About 40 lifts are constantly operating. The first of them begin to work in November, but the opening of the season falls on the beginning of December. The ski season lasts five months - from December to April.
The resort is distinguished by a lively social life, many people come here just for it.
Kitzbühel, Austria
One of the first Austrian resorts, the town of Kitzbühel attracts tourists both in winter and in summer.
Since 1931, one of the most difficult stages of the World Cup in skiing, on the legendary Streif circuit. The track is famous for its complexity and danger, and victory on it is proof of the highest skill.
For skiing, 60 ski slopes of varying difficulty are offered. The length for mountain skiing is 145 km, cross-country skiing is 120 km.
The whole territory is divided into three zones. Hahnenkam offers long and challenging runs through cliffs and forests. The Pengen track is laid here, 7 km long, with a height of slopes up to a kilometer. Horn Zone offers easy slopes for beginners. There are also trails for snowboarders. The multi-kilometer trails of the third zone - Aurach - pass next to Kitzbühel and are distinguished by a variety of landscapes.
The mountain climate ensures mild winters with plenty of snow and sun. Due to the low altitude, the snow cover is unstable, so snow cannons are used.
54 lifts deliver guests to the mountain slopes. The ski season lasts from the beginning of December to the end of April. In summer, Kitzbühel becomes the center of ecotourism.
Lech, Austria
According to the National Geographic channel, this is the best ski resort in the world. It is located in the west of Austria, the Arlberg region. In this region, in addition to Lech, there are several more resorts connected by a common system of cable cars and lifts.

Whistler Blackcomb, Canada
The largest winter resort North America with an area of 3307 hectares located in rocky mountains near Vancouver. The 2010 Olympic Games were held here. The name of the resort was given by two mountains - Whistler and Blackcomb, connected by a cable car. A special pride is the eternal glacier, thanks to which you can ski in the northern part of the resort all year round.
This is one of the snowiest places in the world, the snow cover reaches 915 cm. The height above sea level is 675 m. There are about 200 slopes of different difficulty levels on the slopes. Elevation difference 1560 m. The longest mountain track 11 km, cross-country skiing track - 21 km. There are 24 lifts at the disposal of athletes, the highest station for which is 2240 m.
This ski resort is very popular with freeriders because of the many excellent slopes. A helicopter is used to climb virgin roads.
The ski season lasts from November to the end of May. The season does not end on the Horstman glacier, skiers ski even in summer.

Aspen, USA
The American state of Colorado is known for its comfortable mountain resorts, the best among which is Aspen. The town that has retained the charm of antiquity, which gave its name to the resort, is located in beautiful valley Roaring Fork at an altitude of 2400 m above sea level.
