In the gap between the station and the town hall, you can find the original sculptural alley lined with works of art by contemporary masters such as Kenny Hunter and Kard Mentzen.

7 km northwest of the city center is Mount Herzberg with a observation deck, which offers a gorgeous panoramic view of the surroundings.

The largest hospital in Bad Homburg is named after Kaiser Wilhelm. It is surrounded by a huge (44 hectares) green park, arranged in the English landscape style.

- clinic of general surgery;
- intensive care clinic;
- center of vascular surgery;
- geriatric clinic;
- cardiological center;
- center of gastroenterology and diabetology;
- urological clinic;

  • Where to stay: In the most technological and modern city Germany - Frankfurt or in the city of exhibitions, parks and architecture - Hannover. Wiesbaden is waiting - they will not wait for those who want to improve their health “on a thermal bath” and just relax in peace and tranquility. IN

The Taunus are ancient mountains in the South-West of Germany, along which Limes, the border of the Great Roman Empire, passed 2 thousand years ago. Today, these lovely green hills create a mild microclimate, and small picturesque landscapes are scattered at their foot. resort towns. A trip to such a place can be an amazing adventure for the whole family.

Bad Homburg was once the capital of the Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg. For 250 years, several generations of landgraves have been developing their possessions, and thanks to their care, today we can enjoy magnificent parks and gardens, the most extensive in Germany, a walk through which can turn into an exciting quest - the search for sights lost in the greenery.

Alley of springs

Eight sources - each with its own unique taste and purpose - are lost in the wilderness of the park. We especially note the mineral water with the only composition of useful components in Germany in the source of Elisabeth and the Salt Fountain, which is exactly similar in energy and the number of bubbles to champagne, pleasantly refreshing the head, clearing the mind and exciting the body.

In the photo: this is how the Bad Homburg spring looked like 100 years ago. Since then, the source has not changed at all ...

...except that a casino building appeared nearby.

In the 19th century, these waters cured kings and aristocrats from all over the world. In gratitude for the miraculous deliverance from diseases, the Siamese king Chulalongkorn sent to Bad Homburg a carved Thai tempel (sanctuary for the spirit of the spring), richly decorated with gold and stones.

In the photo: one of two twins - Thai tempels in Bad Homburg

Residents of the city, amazed by the beauty of the structure, installed it in the most prominent place in the park. And 100 years later, a descendant of the Siamese king gave Bad Homburg a second Thai tempel to be installed right at the source.
Not surprisingly, this is where the Thai culture festival takes place in the summer.

In the photo: masks at the festival of Thai culture in Bad Homburg bear the imprint of either childhood nightmares or psychedelics...

Monuments

Walking along the path, you suddenly come across a bust of Bircher-Benner, the inventor of muesli, put up by fans of healthy eating. Elsewhere, an amazing monument “Thirst” rises - a girl in a lotus position wears a cup on her knees, from which two panthers drink. Not far away, two "hare stones" at a distance of 250 meters from each other mark the place from which the landgrave managed to kill the gaping long-eared one on the spot with a shot from a gun. A dozen more strange and wonderful sculptures - each with its own history - are hiding in the park.

In the photo: in addition to springs and sculptures, the city park pleases with lawns where you can do whatever you want, and fountains - a clear landmark leading to a small lake

Landgrave's Castle

Landgraves Elisabeth of Hesse-Homburg, the sister of the English monarch of those times, enjoys special reverence in Bad Homburg. At the age of 48, she married a landgrave, moved to Bad Homburg and "brought" English culture with her. park art. At the entrance to the castle there is a magnificent flower garden and a greenhouse, as well as two giant Lebanese cedars - a wedding gift from my brother.

In the photo: the incredibly overgrown Lebanese cedar of Landgravine Elisabeth of Hesse-Homburg

In the photo: one of the most outstanding sculptures from the walls, ever seen, located above the gates of the castle. Landgrave on horseback literally "jumps" out of the wall.

Gardens

From the lake in the castle park, an alley begins, which, for 8 km to the Taunus Mountains, gathers around itself gardens that belonged to the landgrave's children. Each park is unique.

Gustav's Park is beautiful for its abandonment, while Philip's Park is full of tree sculptures.

In the photo: Philipp Park in Bad Homburg is full of tree sculptures

The small Anglo-Chinese Amusement Forest is magnificent with a lake in the center of which a snow-white gazebo shines on the island.

In the photo: the gazebo in the Forest of Entertainment makes an indelible impression. But this miracle of shining unearthly whiteness must be seen with your own eyes - as often happens, attempts to talk about what they saw, sparkling eyes and waving their arms, are doomed to failure.:-(

In the "Deer Garden" these cute creatures are allowed to approach them at arm's length.

In the photo: a couple of photos of the "Deer Garden" are not enough, especially when the deer, good-naturedly posing in different angles in front of the camera, are within easy reach

In the forest of entertainment "Big Spruce" by all means find the tombstone installed by the landgrave, where it is written in Latin: "Here rests the horse - the most faithful in the world, and if there is friendship between man and animal, then I can say that my friend is buried here ".

In Bad Homburg there is also a unique "Smell Garden", in which plants are planted according to the themes: spicy herbs, medicinal plants, roses, meadow herbs. All explanations are on plates supplemented with Braille.

In the photo: flowers and leaves of various plants in« The garden of smells» exude the finest fragrance, surprisingly, does not interfere with the brethren rising nearby to feel great

Old city

Just think, in the 20th century this place was almost demolished! But the inhabitants of Bad Homburg have defended their relic, thanks to which you can walk through the medieval quarters and find the Town Hall, Blunted and Witch's towers.

In the photo: The Witch's Tower, which never waited for a single witch

As for the White Tower, the symbol of Bad Homburg, it is impossible to miss it.

In the photo: The White Tower, the symbol of Bad Homburg

Although in daylight the White Tower looks very optimistic against the blue sky, but with the onset of twilight it takes on a clearly mystical shape.

In the photo: at dusk, the White Tower of Bad Homburg seems like a snow-white ghost: a sculpture of a knight at a height of several meters is about to move, and spiral staircase behind a rough lattice door clearly hides some secrets

small digression
Imagine: the only entrance to white tower with a steep spiral staircase is closed with a lattice door and wrapped with a thick chain with a padlock - it is clear that the door has been closed for a long time and for a long time.
And suddenly, from somewhere above - from a spiral staircase - a quiet voice of a girl is heard, singing an old German song.
You check: the door is definitely closed, a run around the tower shows that there is no other entrance to it. Nobody can be inside! But a barely audible voice from the stairs behind the barred door still diligently brings out a whimsical melody. The situation begins to clearly resemble a horror movie. And at the same time, the voice begins to gradually approach! The cold creeps up the collar, I want to quietly (but quickly) move away from this place, but some force continues to hold me in place and makes me listen to this terribly quiet song...
The finale of the story is as follows: after a while, an old voice begins to be heard from above, and after another minute, grandfather and granddaughter go downstairs, take out a huge key from their pocket, unlock the door, go out, and lock it again. It turns out that if you pay a couple of euros at the box office and give another ten as a deposit, you are given a private key to the tower to climb observation platform and stay there for as long as you like.

xxx

It is curious that all the loopholes in the White Tower are barred (to prevent visitors from poking through them), with the exception of fairly large windows at the very top, which easily swing open to their full height and from where opens beautiful view on the city, the pond and the ancient Taunus mountains, worn down by centuries.

In the photo: at the top left - a spiral staircase, stone at the bottom, on the upper floors it acquires "grouchy-creaky" wooden steps, as in "horror stories" films.
Top right: View of the entrance gate of the Landgrave's castle from above.
In the middle: all loopholes of the tower are securely barred.
Below: view of the Taunus mountains in the distance and the tower on them

It is hard to deny yourself the pleasure of climbing the "same" tower in the distance, which was visible from the White Tower located on top of the Taunus Mountains. And, although it turned out to be much lower than Belaya, the view from it is excellent, complemented by low-low hanging clouds with a surprisingly even base.

In the photo on the left: a view of Bad Homburg from the very high point Taunus mountains. In winter, here is the realm of snow and skiers, and the rest of the time bikers, cyclists and just lovers of walking a dozen or two kilometers strive to the top.
In the photo on the right: on the way back we met a surprisingly optimistic multi-colored lawn, clearly delimiting the mountains, over which gloomy clouds crowd and the "special territory" of Bad Homburg, which is characterized by an almost complete absence of rain.

Bad Homburg is home to the first German golf course. A casino was also opened here for the first time, long before its appearance in Monte Carlo.

In addition to parks, the entire space of the city is saturated with outlandish plants signed with German care. I was especially surprised near one of the city mansions by a two-hundred-year-old Chilean araucaria, slightly reminiscent of a Christmas tree with branches-hose covered with sharp scales-leaves.

In the photo: a two-hundred-year-old araucaria looks like a creature from other worlds

Homburg hat

The nice city museum has a rich collection of hats. Each showcase is dedicated to a specific theme - chef's hats, church hats, firemen's and military helmets, and many ladies' hats. Bad Homburg is the birthplace of the rolled-brimmed felt hat invented by King Edward VII of England.

In the photo: a tiny fragment of a huge exposition of the Bad Homburg Hat Museum

Taunus Terme

Bathing and relaxation lovers will love visiting the Asian-style thermal baths - so famous that they come here from Frankfurt for the "Long Night" on Friday (pay only 2 and enjoy 5 hours: until 2 am) - swim in mineral water under the moon, try Thai delicacies and take a steam bath in numerous saunas.

The first floor of the term includes several pools, and the second - an exceptionally complete complex of carnal swimming, sauna and solar pleasures, where traditionally for Germany they are without clothes. The issue price is €15.

Near Therme in the Hardvald Forest, a special track-complex for training parkourers has been built throughout, including dozens of simulators and “rocking chairs”.

Limes

If you feel the strength of an ancient Roman warrior, go to the Saalburg Fortress on foot - through a dark and gloomy forest along a path prudently provided with signs (it is impossible to get lost).

The fortress, founded 2000 years ago, is one of the outposts on the first equipped 500-kilometer border in the history of mankind. The life of the border guards of the Roman Empire - the barracks, the dining room, the bathhouse, the bakery - are shown in a playful way to interest both children and adults (for whom the old tavern is still working).

In the photo: Saalburg Fortress, an ancient Roman bastion, 2 thousand years ago was not only a refuge for the garrison, but also a workshop for the manufacture of countless marble busts of the emperor. All that was required was a sample of the bust, a piece of marble, a device for checking the dimensions of the prototype and the copy (similar to a compass with curved tips) and stone tools. In memory of the creative past in the fortress, children are offered to assemble a mosaic from mountains of micro-tiles carefully sorted by color, taking it as a souvenir (all pebbles, plus a cardboard base and glue are provided free of charge).

The border of the Roman Empire (Limes) existed for 150 years and collapsed under the onslaught of the barbarians, leaving only a few memorial stones and replicas of the palisade, which once performed a protective function.

    The procedure for undergoing therapeutic gymnastics / physiotherapy

    You submit a referral from a doctor to our medical office. The prescription must contain the appointment of exercises in the therapeutic pool. The first procedure must take place no later than 10 days from the date of receipt of the referral from the doctor. In the office you will receive a schedule of procedures; on the day of the first treatment, an entrance ticket for a 90-minute stay is issued. (Privately treated patients receive a ticket for a two-hour stay, which is paid directly at the medical office). Duration medical procedure is about 20 minutes, the rest after the procedure is recommended for the same duration. In the Taunus Therme thermal complex, various therapeutic exercises are held at the same time according to the doctor's prescription under the guidance of various specialists.

    Your health is our goal!

    Resistance, pressure, lift and water temperature are the most important factors that have a beneficial effect on the body and its motor activity. Groups of patients are divided according to medical indications, so that gymnastics has a targeted effect on the source of pain.
