Viewpoints or viewpoints in Phuket

Lookout on Karon and lookout on Katya, it's all a single view point overlooking both of these beaches. Two distant and long beaches Karon and Kata - this is the view from the observation deck. You can easily get to the observation deck, both on a bike and by car.

Kata Viewpoint - Karon Viewpoint in Phuket

Photo at Karon viewpoint

It is not worth a special trip to the Karon observation deck. Especially spending money on taxis. We were at the observation deck for exactly 3 minutes. And not particularly impressed. And also a lot of people. In Phuket, there are much more dizzying viewpoints. The closest one is . It's the same view, only you can see it better. We also recommend visiting the viewpoints nearby - Black Rock, And .

View of two Phuket beaches at once

It is better to visit the lookout on Karon in transit. It is located between the beaches and. Pass through it to Nui Beach and, as well as to elephant farms where you can ride elephants. So, why not stop along the way. Moreover, all view points in Phuket are free.

Phuket is called the “Pearl of the Andaman Sea” for a reason. He is not just handsome, but fantastically handsome. The correspondent of the portal "Abroad" examined the island from all sides and chose for you the TOP-7 best observation platforms. So go ahead, enjoy the scenery!

Rang Hill

This observation deck is located in the north of Phuket Town. From it opens great review on the city, the island landscape (the Big Buddha is also visible) and the Andaman Sea (Chalong Bay). There are many places for recreation - gazebos and benches shaded by trees. Appreciate this site and the monkeys living on the hill; they come here after 4:00 pm. Just below is one of the most beautiful Buddhist temples Phuket - Wat Khao Rang.

6

Sarasin Bridge

This 700-meter bridge, built in 1967, connects Phuket and the mainland. After the opening of the new Sarasin Bridge in 2011, it was turned into a tourist attraction - with a walking area and several viewing platforms.

Here you can admire the Andaman Sea and Phang Nga Bay. Best time for this - at sunset, when the sun sets in ocean waters. Nearby there are several beautiful sandy beaches(both from the side of the island, and from the side of the "mainland").

5

Observation deck at the foot of the Big Buddha

Statue Big Buddha on Nakkerd Hill - a visiting card of Phuket. This majestic monument is visible from various points of the island. And from its foot, in turn, wonderful panoramic views of the island (in particular, Chalong Bay) open up.

But that is not all. On the way to the Big Buddha, there are several viewing platforms with inspiring views of the same Chalong and Karon Beach.

4

Observation deck "Windmills"

A very pleasant place. There are several large windmills on the hill (hence the name). The observation deck itself is small and there are not as many people on it as on most others. On the left from the Windmills you can see Yanui Beach, on the right - Nai Harn Beach. You can also consider Cape Promthep. In the sea very close - desert island Man, off the coast of which sea eagles sometimes hunt.

3

Karon Viewpoint

The most popular observation deck among domestic tourists, which is explained not only by its proximity to the beaches of Kata, Karon and Patong, but also by wonderful views. In Thai, the place is also called "Kho Sam Hat" - "Hill of the Three Beaches". From here, gorgeous views of the beaches of the southwestern part of Phuket - Kata Noi, Kata Yai, Karon - and the uninhabited island of Pu.

2

Promthep Cape Lookout

The word "most" is often applied to this vantage point. This is the largest observation deck in Phuket. Promthep Cape is the southernmost point of the island. And it is also one of the most popular places for watching the sunset in Phuket.

The views from the Cape of God (as “prom thep” is translated) are truly divine. A bright red luminary sits in the waters of the Andaman Sea, giving the audience great aesthetic pleasure. There is also an altar of the god Brahma, a monument to Prince Chumphon and a lighthouse with a small museum inside.

Just below the lighthouse there is a passage to the cape. Get to the very southern point Islands can be reached in 15-20 minutes. But be careful - really evaluate your strength! The descents and ascents are quite difficult in places, incidents happen (in the news, Chinese tourists were injured here).

1

Our Pick: Khao Khad Observation Tower

This is the best observation deck in Phuket and the only one on the island with a 360° view. It offers breathtaking views of Chalong Bay, Cape Panwa, the bays and islands of the eastern part of Phuket, Phuket Town and the Big Buddha. If you have sharp eyesight, good weather you can see the Phi Phi archipelago and the coast of Krabi province.

The observation deck is a three-tiered tower about the height of a three-story house, which stands on a 100-meter hill. There are almost always few people here - this is another plus of this magnificent place.

In general, if you want to enjoy marine species, fill yourself with beauty and merge with nature - you are on Khao Khad!

There are many in Phuket beautiful places and some of them are viewpoints or viewing platforms Phuket, from where they open great views to the neighborhood. Tourists are not taken to most of them, and in order to enjoy this beauty of the island, you need to get there yourself. I think this post will help you find these wonderful places.

1. Karon Beach Viewpoint

The observation deck on Karon is not so far from the sea. This is probably the most famous observation point of the island and it is certainly worth visiting here. I marked it on the map, so I will not describe the road in detail. From here you can enjoy beautiful views of the beaches of Kata Noi, Kata and Karon.

By the way, earlier this observation point was called Kata Beach Viewpoint, but recently it has been renamed.

2. Radar Hill Viewpoint

A rather unknown observation point of the island. At least they don't bring tourists here. Meanwhile, magnificent and breathtaking views of Patong and Chalong open from here. Here you will find several signs that prohibit access to the radar, but you do not need to go there. You can park on the road and walk a little further up. There you will find a table and chairs. Here you can relax and enjoy gorgeous view. It is not difficult to find a viewing point - it is very close to Phuket International Hospital

3. Viewpoint at Cape Promthep (Promthep Cape Viewpoint)

Another very famous and popular with tourists viewpoint with cool views. Promthep Cape is located in the south of Phuket near Naiharn Beach. This place is also called Sun Set View point - because of the very beautiful sunsets. Here you can almost always meet tourists (including Thais). There is a lighthouse, a Buddhist statue, cafes and souvenir shops. It is best to come here at 5-6 pm to enjoy the sunset.

A word of advice: if you drive towards Naiharn Beach, you will find another viewpoint - Windmill Viewpoint.

Not well known among tourists. However, you can visit it when you go to Promthep Cape. After you pass Naiharn Beach and turn towards the headland, you will climb a small hill after the lake and come to a sharp bend. Immediately after it, you will see a turn onto a dirt road. You there! After a few meters, you'd better park and walk further. Walk around the neighborhood, so you will surely find the most interesting points for photographing.

Very often Thai religious buildings They are also great vantage points. Many Buddhist temples and pagodas are built on hills, and therefore it is no wonder that magnificent views open from such places. Big Buddha in Phuket is no exception. However, you can read about it in a separate post -

6. Viewpoint Khao Rang (Khao Rang Hill Phuket)

Once upon a time there was enough popular park for walking and playing sports, but gradually, its popularity fell, and the viewpoint ceased to be a place of pilgrimage for tourists. At the same time, it is beautiful and cozy here. And it is best to admire the views while sitting in one of the three restaurants. Want to have a romantic dinner? Then you are right here. Tung Ka Cafe, Phuket View Restaurant and Kao Rang Breeze work here (the view is worse here than in the first two).

There is also an interesting nearby Buddhist temple Wat Khao Rang (Kao Rang temple) and Chinese cemetery.

Khao Rang is close to Bangkok International Hospital and Vachira Hospital in Phuket Town.

7. Panwa Viewpoint (or Khao Kad Viewpoint)

The observation deck is located on Cape Panwa and is also known as the Khao Khad lookout point. Here is located kao tower Kad, from where good views of Chalong, Maham Bay and directly to Cape Panwa open up. A trip here can be combined with a visit, which is located nearby.

8. Observation deck - bar SuaTalay Hangout

This is not even a classic observation deck, but a small bar in the mountains beyond Patong. The name translates as "sea tiger". You can come here at any time of the day, but it is best to do it in the evening. Firstly, to enjoy the sunset, and secondly, so that it would not be so hot. Well, of course, the bar is more fun in the evening.

Monkey Hill or "mountain of monkeys" also has the Thai name Khao Toe Sae. The mountain got its name because of the flocks of monkeys that settled in this place. The mountain offers a fairly pleasant view of Phuket Town.

Monkeys are everywhere, it is not difficult to find them. Almost from the foot of the mountain, small areas with parking begin, where you can stop and admire the monkeys.

Many tourists come here to feed the monkeys.

5. The observation deck of the temple of Koh Sire (Wat Koh Sire)

Sirey Temple is located on a hill on the small island of Koh Si Rea, connected to Phuket by a bridge. The islet is a hill, on top of which the Sirey Temple is built, and below is the village of Chaolei sea gypsies.

Sirey Temple was our favorite six years ago when we first came to Phuket. It was here that we came to sit in silence, listening to the ringing of bells. Surprisingly, this place reminds us of something in Bangkok in terms of energy.

From the temple you can admire the opened views of the island. You can see Rassada Pier, the village of sea gypsies,. In clear weather, looking towards the southeast, you can see the Phi Phi Islands.

6. Kata Viewpoint (Kata -Karon View Point or Khao Saam Haad)

Surprisingly, this viewpoint is called Kata-Karon, although it is located between Kata Beach and Naiharn. It is called the site of three beaches -,. It is marked on maps with different names Karon view point” or “Kata Viewpoint”. There is also a local name “Khao Saam Haad”.

The site is small, it is an observation gazebo, around which there are small paths from where you can catch a good view. Near the observation deck there is a small market where you can buy ice cream or souvenirs. There is parking near the observation deck, we always found a place for the car.

7. Observation deck Windmills or Windmill Viewpoint

Observation deck Windmills (or " Windmills”) is a very nice space. which is located between Naiharn beach and Yanui. At the top of the hill, between the beaches of Naiharn and Yanui, Phromthep Alternative Energy Station is comfortably located, which accumulates energy with the help of wind. In addition to windmills, there are also solar panels.

Windmills give a romantic look to the landscape when you admire them from north side Cape Promthep or being on. And if you come to the mills on the top of the hill, then on the contrary you admire the ocean and the beaches around.

8. Observation deck Radar (Radar hill)

This far from popular observation deck in Phuket, but we want to tell you about it. Do you know what for? So that you don’t go there 🙂 Don’t repeat our mistakes. We want to visit, climb, crawl everywhere (the profession of a blogger obliges). We learned about the Radar and went without delay. As a result, no lookout was found there.

Radar Hill is located at an altitude of 529 meters above sea level. Here is located meteorological station(Radar Hill). And this is a closed, military facility where entry is prohibited. Therefore, the possibility of going to the observation deck is rather doubtful. We did not see decent views through the jungle and trees. In any case, going to a military facility to see some mythical views is not very worthwhile. Not recommended 🙂

Through the thicket you can see such views

9, Temple at Cape Promthep (Abbey Attractions)

At Promthep Cape we found several secret beaches, absolutely deserted and incredibly beautiful. And also found a charming observation deck, right on the territory of the temple. And the monks are not at all against your arrival. They show where the observation deck is and offer to enjoy the charming landscapes.

10. Viewpoint of Cape Panwa - Khao Khad View Tower

At Cape Panwa, you can look down on the island from the 20-meter observation tower of Khao Khad. This is a well-equipped observation deck. There is a large parking lot, a convenient staircase (and there is also a path) upstairs. The tower itself is a two-story building, with a panoramic view on all four sides, with maps and indications of what can be seen from one point or another.

It is not at all surprising that there are no tourists at all, Cape Panwa is far from the tourist ones.

Personal opinion about Karon Kata viewpoint

We visited this observation deck on foot, from Karon Beach, walked slowly, walking step, enjoying at least great views opening along the way. The journey took about an hour.

As a result, we received a lot of pleasant impressions not only from the observation deck itself, but also from the walk. The observation deck on Karon is a place that is definitely worth a visit, magnificent views, stunning picturesque nature, clean air and the atmosphere itself, all this leaves an indelible impression and, no doubt, the most positive emotions.

How to get to Karon View Point

Buses do not go to the observation deck, therefore, you can get to Karon View Point relying only on your own strength.

There are several ways independent visit lookout Karon playgrounds view point:

Kata Beach can be reached by public bus"- Kata-Karon". You have to get to final stop near Kata beach (from Karon we also go to Kata). And then on foot, go to the wide road Kata-Sai Yuan Rd and follow it to the observation deck. But you have to make a small detour and go uphill. It is more convenient and faster to go through Kata Noi beach. First we reach Kata Noi beach, then we follow the street that departs from the center of the beach.

This is how the entrance to this road looks like from the roadway near Kata Noi beach

Following this road, you will go uphill, first on a concrete road, after which the road will become dirt.

Without turning, in about 10 minutes you can go to the wide road Kata-Sai Yuan Rd, after which, turning to the right, you will be almost at the elephant farm - Khok Chang Kata Safari. The farm will be on the left side of the road.
