What to visit in Pereslavl Zalessky. Temples, religious buildings. Temples, monasteries and other architectural monuments of Pereslavl-Zalessky

Pereslavl-Zalessky - small town, which is part of the Golden Ring of Russia. It was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. Once Alexander Nevsky was born here, and today about 300 thousand tourists come here every year, half of them are foreigners.

You can get to the city from the capital by car: only 149 kilometers along the Yaroslavl highway. The journey will take about two hours. You can also use public transport: bus or train, however, in the latter case, you will have to make a transfer in Sergiev Posad.

The city is small, but there are many places of worship here, the main of which can be seen in one day. If you want to spend an interesting weekend, do not hesitate, but feel free to hit the road with friends or children.

  • The fairy tale "Snow Maiden" comes from these lands.
  • In the 14th century, the Principality of Pereslavl became part of Moscow. It was this principality that laid the foundation for the unification of Russian lands around Moscow.
  • Most often, tourists bring from here the very “royal” fish - vendace. In numerous souvenir shops you can buy old irons, samovars, jugs, and porcelain dishes.

Lake Pleshcheyevo

One of the largest fresh water reservoirs in our country. Its age is at least 30 thousand years. More than 16 species of fish live in the lake, the most famous of them is the “royal herring”. So the locals call vendace. Once it was caught and delivered to the royal table. This fish is listed in the Red Book, but in some shops in the city it can be found, however, at a very high price.

Lake Pleshcheyevo has an almost perfect round shape. From a height, it looks like a saucer that glistens under the rays of the sun.

In the 17th century, the lake was a "training ground" for the Amusing Flotilla of Peter I, but now there are no berths and shipyards, because there are many sanatoriums and recreation centers along the coast.

Are you planning a trip? That way!

We have prepared some useful gifts for you. They will help save money at the stage of preparation for the trip.

blue stone

On the northeastern shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo there is a boulder left by a glacier. It has a grayish-blue tint, which is why it was nicknamed the Blue Stone.

The boulder is part of the sanctuary of the pagans, a genuine ritual object that has survived to this day from the time of Ancient Rus'. It is believed that he has real magical powers.

Many believe that a spirit lives inside the Blue Stone, which can fulfill the most secret desires. According to legend, many times people tried to get rid of the boulder: they buried it deep into the ground and took it away for tens of kilometers, but in some incredible way it returned to its original place.

Boat of Peter I

A walk along the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo will not be complete if you do not go to the museum "Boat of Peter the Great". Here the young prince built his first "amusing" fleet. Until now, only one ship has survived - the boat "Fortune", all the others, unfortunately, burned down in a fire that occurred here back in the 18th century.

Visitors to the museum are waiting for an exciting tour and interactive programs. You will see the White Palace, the gatehouse, the Triumphal Gates and, of course, the monument to Peter. You can have a delicious lunch in a small restaurant, which almost looks like a ship's hold.

  • The museum is open every day, except the last Monday of the month, from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Entrance for adults costs 180 rubles, for students and pensioners - 120 rubles, and for children under 16 - 80 rubles.

Dendrological garden them. S. F. Kharitonova

There are no plants here: on 58 hectares, trees, herbs, shrubs and flowers brought from Siberia, Japan, Europe, Crimea, the Caucasus, China and other parts of the world harmoniously coexist. Walking along the paths of the park, you will see wooden sculptures of fabulous animals, playgrounds are provided for children, and you can hide from the sun in shady alleys.

The garden is beautiful at any time of the year, and it is best to go for a walk with a guide who can take you along the “Fairytale Trail” or the “Nature of the Senses” route and tell you about the “exhibits” of the museum. Dendrosad is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, the entrance ticket costs only 100 rubles.

Interesting: Where to go to

Transfiguration Cathedral

The temple was built in the XII century. It is the earliest architectural monument northeast region which was built of white stone. The cathedral is very beautiful, but this is not its value. It was here that Alexander Nevsky was baptized many centuries ago.

The cathedral is a high domed building, it does not have any decorations in the form of ornaments and bas-reliefs: austerity and asceticism are its charm. There is also no decor inside, only a marble altar and an exact copy of the icon "Transfiguration" by Theophanes the Greek.

When the temple was "young", its walls were decorated with frescoes. In the 19th century, repairs were carried out here, and the frescoes were chipped off, and in their place oil painting appeared, which did not represent any artistic value.

In the 20th century, specialists involved in the restoration of the cathedral removed this painting with a special sparing composition and found inscriptions on the walls revealing the mystery of the murder of Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky, as well as old “graffiti” - an uncountable number of inscribed crosses that parishioners applied to the walls as a request for God's forgiveness and remission of sins.

  • The gates of the Transfiguration Cathedral are open every day except Monday from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Entrance for adults costs 50 rubles, for schoolchildren and pensioners - 30 rubles.
  • You can also order an individual tour, which costs 250 rubles.

Kremlin

The territory of the Kremlin, built in the XII century, is small. You can get around it in half an hour. It was repeatedly raided by the Horde, ruined, but again and again diligently erected by local residents.

Now there are only a couple of buildings left here: the Church of Alexander Nevsky and the Cathedral of the Vladimir Icon Mother of God. You can come here at any time, and you don’t have to pay to inspect the fortifications.

Museums

If it is interesting for adults to get acquainted with cultural and historical places, then children will surely like the expositions of city museums. For example, you can visit the Steam Locomotive Museum. True, it will be necessary to go out of town to the base of the depot of the railway line. Here is a whole collection of locomotives, wagons and other railway equipment. You can ride a real railcar and try on the role of a machinist by looking inside the locomotive.

Another interesting museum is the iron museum. By the way, it is located near the Transfiguration Cathedral and occupies a mansion that once belonged to a merchant. On the first floor there is a souvenir shop, and on the second floor there is a collection of irons and other items that are somehow connected with this household appliance.

If you are on Lake Pleshcheyevo, take a look at the village of Vaskovo, the teapot museum and the money museum. The names speak for themselves. One contains a variety of teapots: porcelain and copper, large and small, and the other contains coins from different countries and times.

Memo to the tourist

  • City transport is represented by buses. The most popular is route No1, which runs through the entire city.

  • If one day is not enough for you, then you can stay here longer, staying in a hotel room or renting an apartment, which will cost about 500-1500 rubles. per day. The price of a hotel room varies within 2300 rubles.
  • Cafes and restaurants serve traditional Russian dishes: pancakes from a real Russian stove, sauerkraut soup, smoked meats, pickles. There are also establishments where you can taste Caucasian and Georgian treats. The average check per person is 500-700 rubles.

Afraid of being left without communication on the road?

There was nothing festive about this day. We burned the effigy of Maslenitsa the day before. Participated in folk festivals. Pancakes ate with a vengeance. And yet the day was special, and we felt it - the last day - Forgiveness Sunday.
We managed to visit and see a lot in Pereslavl-Zalessky in one day - four museums, one and a half monasteries and one unusual natural object. Our carnival adventures continued.

Advertising - club support

The morning was snowy. We went to bed - the weather was clear outside the window, we got up - the snow was pouring down, all the cars and paths under the window of our hotel room were covered with powder.
Yes, we woke up at the Victoria Plaza Hotel. It was half past nine on the clock and I didn’t want to get up terribly after yesterday’s active pancake day.
But a big program was waiting for us, so there was no time for sipping. Went down for breakfast. The breakfast was pleasant enough. Everyone found on the "buffet" what he likes best. My husband is a porridge lover, I am a lover of omelettes and yogurts. Sophie, as always, had breakfast like a bird - a little bit of everything. Oh those kids. It’s good that they don’t take money from small fry here for breakfast. It's ridiculous to take money almost for air.
We returned from breakfast, packed our things, took some pictures and were on our way.
This is what the snow-covered view from the window of our 104 room looked like.

And this is how Sophie frolicked with a camera (and without it).

I catch myself thinking that there are moments in life when you get pleasure from everything. For me, moments like this most often fall on travel. Everything is high here - waking up in a beautiful place, with a special pleasure to have breakfast and not wash the dishes after that, take pictures of your loved ones and get unheard of joy from this. The only thing I don't like on trips is packing.
But things were still collected. It turned out not to be thorough enough. Yes, yes, for the first time they forgot a thing in a hotel - a daughter's blouse, gray with a zipper. I do not know what it is - the irony of fate or conduct. In general, they called us, my husband said that we would arrive on Saturday. Can you imagine? Yes, we have already booked a room.))
So, with things out. Terribly do not want to leave. For me, this is the main sign that I liked the hotel.
It's snowing outside. Beautiful...

While our dad is warming up the car, my daughter and I are walking around the area around the hotel, taking pictures of our reflection in the mirrored doors of the restaurant. Only now I was able to see that a traffic policeman was closely watching us from behind the fence.

And now the car is ready, we sit down and first of all we drive towards the Nikitsky Monastery. It is foolish to do otherwise, because the hotel is very close. I will show you how the main sights of Pereslavl-Zalessky look on the map.

At the top of the map you can see a long monastery wall and the domes of temples - this is the Nikitsky Monastery. familiar I marked the Victoria Plaza Hotel. Of course, the map is very schematic, but the essence is clear.
Next to us was a monastery, as well as the Blue Stone - an attraction of a completely different kind. There we went.

We passed the Nikitsky Monastery, drove to the Holy Spring of St. Nikita the Stylite. It was written on the sign that it was 300 m to the source. I believe that in fact it is 3 times more.

From the side of the field they removed the Nikitsky monastery. The snow fell mercilessly, so the monastery stands in the distance as if in a haze.

blue stone

Who does not know, the Blue Stone lies on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo. This is a real stone, which was used in ancient times for various ceremonies and rituals. For many years people have been going to him, because he is considered miraculous - healing, fulfilling desires.
To be honest, we didn't expect to see so many people here. One after another, people drive up here in buses, minibuses, cars. Just a pilgrimage. And this is in this weather.

It is not far from the road, but it is difficult. First, the path is more or less, and then - one solid ice, a real skating rink. People fell in batches.

Near the stone itself, everyone sits down, rubs it, strokes it, puts coins. Apparently, wishes are made.

We weren't able to take a human photo there. All the time someone got into the frame.

If you believe the poster, then the length of the stone is 2.9-3.1 m, and the width is 2.6 m. Now its dimensions are not very noticeable - it is powerfully frozen into the ice.

By the way, to the question why the stone is called "Blue". It is said to turn blue after rain when wet. How it really is, we do not know.
A little to the side there are bushes, densely bequeathed with multi-colored ribbons. Ribbons are sold right there - in nearby souvenir tents, in which everything is very expensive.
We foolishly went there and barely got out. It is difficult to walk on a perfectly level skating rink. My husband cursed that I dragged them there. Well, how could I not come up and photograph this beauty for you?

The next point is the Nikitsky Monastery, which we passed on the way to the Blue Stone.

Nikitsky monastery

Nikitsky Monastery is one of the oldest in North-Eastern Rus'. It was founded in the 12th century. It was here that the famous Russian saint Reverend Nikita the Stylite lived, who was a native of Pereslavl-Zalessky.
I have never been here before, I really wanted to see everything for myself.

And so, as soon as we arrived, some civilian-looking man briskly ran up to us and said that they were collecting money to restore something. The husband replied that we would make a donation in the monastery itself.

We enter the territory. I have a headdress on, but no skirt. Three old skirts with iron zippers are hanging on the chair at the entrance - not specially sewn, dimensionless, with ties, but given by someone, ready-made, no larger than 46 in size. I looked at them, looked, and realizing the futility of pulling them on myself, I put them back. And what would you think? A rumpled man jumped out of the change house and rushed to me, screaming like crazy. "Skirt", - yells - "put it on !!!" To my answer that the skirts did not fit me, he barked that these were my problems and left. The husband immediately said: "Let's go!".
It was the third time in my memory that we were pushed out of the holy place. The first time in David's hermitage (), the second time in Diveevo. There was another unpleasant incident in the Nikolo-Ugreshsky Monastery, but everything was less dramatic there ().
It was sad that the lack of a skirt eclipsed the man's eyes so much that he didn't look at anything. Even the fact that it was a holy day - Forgiveness Sunday. The monastery was left without a donation. We left.

I would like to point out that negative feedback about this place are found on the Internet. So get ready. Come in a skirt, scarf. Don't fall for money scam. The monastery is beautiful, ancient, praying. It is certainly worth visiting.
After the monastery, we went to see the museums of Pereslavl-Zalessky. Before lunch, we managed to visit two museums - the Museum of Teapots and the Museum of Money.

-

one of several private museums in Pereslavl. It is located near the Museum "Boat of Peter I".
Here is an interesting collection of teapots, everything connected with them and not only. For all visitors, no matter how many you are, there are guided tours. The ticket costs 120 rubles/adults, 60 rubles/schoolchildren. Excursions are conducted lively, with humor, obey in one breath.

The Museum of Teapots has a lot of cute souvenirs. Prices are quite normal. I recommend.

Across the street from the Museum of Teapots is the Museum of Money.

We really enjoyed the Money Museum. It is really very interesting to learn the history of money, to see coins and banknotes in person. The oldest coin in the museum dates back to the 6th century BC. Here she is.

When preparing for the trip, I was looking for reviews of the best cafes in Pereslavl-Zalessky, and "Botik" definitely did not belong to them. In short, this cafe is interesting only for its location - on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo (in summer the views from here are amazing) and design. The design is really cute - a live parrot, fish, ship models, a spacious bright hall.

If we talk about the cuisine in the cafe "Botik" ... I do not recommend it if you are traveling with children, if you do not have an "impenetrable" stomach, if you like healthy food and if eating for you is not just filling your stomach. Honestly? Tasteless, unprofessional and completely disrespectful to customers. Plus one - not very expensive.
Pancakes ice cold, from the refrigerator. Turns out it's cold. And I thought that pancakes are baked and then immediately served at the table.
At least two tablespoons of mayonnaise were heaped up in the hodgepodge. It turns out that you need to put mayonnaise in the hodgepodge. And I thought that sour cream (and preferably in a separate bowl, because not everyone eats with it).
They even put mayonnaise on a plate with cabbage rolls! Here, as they say, no comment at all. Stuffed cabbage rolls themselves with overcooked terrible cabbage, little edible.
Chicken noodle soup ... Here, it would seem, it is generally difficult to spoil anything. Spoiled. One yellow oily liquid. We even saved on noodles.
Etc. There is no point in continuing. We paid a thousand rubles (with a tip) for this outrage and left without any pleasure.

After the cafe, we had another bummer that day - the Museum of Steam Locomotives. But, perhaps, I will tell about it and everything else next time. Wow, how much we managed to visit in one day in Pereslavl - I write about everything a little bit, but I still don’t fit into one post.

Unfortunately, there are almost no signs with the names of plants in the arboretum, so you should not count on an independent educational walk, but you can use the services of a guide, and for children there is an interactive Fairy Tale Trail. Address: Zhuravleva, 1.

A bit about the history of the city

Pereslavl-Zalessky is the same age as Moscow.

In Rus' there were several cities with the name Pereslavl. There was Pereslavl-South (now the city of Khmelnitsky), Pereslavl-Ryazan (now Ryazan) and our Pereslavl. He received the prefix "Zalessky" because he was located in Zalesye - behind forests impenetrable from Kyiv and Chernigov.

This city was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1152. Initially, it served as a fortress and protected Suzdal and Vladimir from enemy raids. The city flourished in the 13th century. At this time, Pereslavl became the center of the Vladimir-Suzdal lands.

Despite the fact that Pereslavl is the birthplace of the great Russian commander, who won brilliant victories over the Swedes and the Teutonic knights and was canonized as a Saint, his coat of arms is extremely peaceful. It depicts the famous Pereslavl vendace - fish that are found only in Lake Pleshcheyevo.

What to see in Pereslavl-Zalessky

Pereslavl-Zalessky is one of those cities that are most convenient to explore on your own transport. Because the main sights are not concentrated in one part of it (not in the historical center, as in many other cities), but are located on the outskirts, or even crawl out of the city, like Peter's Boat and Sin-stone.

Pereslavl-Zalessky is, first of all, a city of monasteries and ancient churches, as well as small, but cozy and interesting private museums.

Pereslavl sightseeing guide

City center

I propose to start acquaintance with Pereslavl from its central part.

The main attractions of the center are Red Square And Transfiguration Cathedral, as well as located next to them bright and conspicuous iron museum.

Transfiguration Cathedral

Significant place of Pereslavl. Although the cathedral is quite small in size, it is one of the most valuable architectural and historical monuments on the territory of Pereslavl. I will try to briefly describe the most Interesting Facts associated with its history.

This one of the earliest white stone temples that appeared in the northeast ancient Rus' and the only one that has come down to us in almost unchanged form. Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is the same age as the city. He, as well as Pereslavl, began to be built in 1152. Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky is considered the founder of the cathedral.

Its history is closely intertwined with the key events of our country. It was in this cathedral that Alexander Nevsky was baptized, and one of the greatest saints of the Russian land, Sergius of Radonezh, was elevated here to the rank of hegumen.

The son and grandson of Alexander Nevsky are buried in the tomb of the cathedral.

In Soviet times, the Alexander Nevsky Museum worked here. Then it was closed, now it is open in another place.

The history of the princes Bogolyubsky is also connected with this cathedral.

One of the most unusual finds occurred here during restoration work in 2015, when ancient inscriptions (Old Russian graffiti) were found on the walls containing information about the murder of Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky, listing the names of his killers.

The cathedral is also known for its temple icon "Transformation" work Theophan the Greek - a real masterpiece of ancient Russian painting.

The temple icon of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Transfiguration by Theophanes the Greek is now on display in one of the halls of the Tretyakov Gallery

Once the walls of the cathedral were decorated unique frescoes 12th century, which, unfortunately, have been lost. The only surviving piece of one of the frescoes of the cathedral can be seen in Historical Museum of Moscow.

Officially, the cathedral now belongs to the Pereslavl St. Nicholas Monastery, but services are rarely held here. We, like most tourists, only managed to walk around the cathedral and admire the monument to A. Nevsky.

The page of the cathedral on the website of the Pereslavl Museum-Reserve: museumpereslavl.ru

St. Vladimir's Cathedral

It is also called the New Cathedral.

It was built in the 18th century. and took over the functions of the old Transfiguration Cathedral. During the construction of the cathedral, the Bogoroditsko-Sretensky Monastery was located on this territory, which was later abolished and has not survived to our time. In the Soviet period, the House of Physical Education worked in the temple. Now it is a functioning temple. It is easy to get inside during the morning or evening liturgy.

Church of Alexander Nevsky

A small temple, together with the Vladimir Cathedral, is part of the Pereslavl Red Square complex. These two temples are very similar in style and were built at the same time. The temple is dedicated to Prince Alexander Nevsky. The main shrine is the ark with a particle of his relics. Pereslavl-Zalessky also has museum of A. Nevsky, which is located near the Goritsky monastery. Read about it below.

iron museum

The fact that this museum will be fun can be seen already at the entrance.

The museum has a rich collection of various irons, starting from the most ancient ones. The guides will jokingly tell and demonstrate to you the history of the appearance and transformation of this simple object. I advise everyone to visit this museum, especially families with children. Bright, fun, interesting.

The museum was opened in 1999 by a private entrepreneur A. Vorobyov. There is another museum in Pereslavl that belongs to him - this is Teapot Museum(located at Botik Peter). Both museums are very similar in style and decoration.

Opposite the Iron Museum you will see Museum of cunning and ingenuity, also opened by a private entrepreneur (since the end of January 2018, it has been closed for repairs). It contains antique household items. The abundance of such small but imaginative museum exhibits suggests that Pereslavl residents are enterprising and very creative people.

Iron Museum opening hours: daily from 10:00 to 18:00

Prices:

  • Weekdays - 100 rub. adults, 50 rub. pupils;
  • weekend - 120 rub. adults, 60 rub. pupils;

Church of the 40 Sebastian Martyrs

A small but very beautiful church in Rybnaya Sloboda. It stands on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, near the mouth of the Trubezh River.

It is not known exactly when the church was founded, but it is known that in the 17th century. it already existed. Be sure to go inside the church, there is an incredibly beautiful wall painting, which was made after the return of the church to the Russian Orthodox Church in the 90s. 20th century The murals were created by artists from the Izhevsk Artefact group under the guidance of V. N. Morozov. In Soviet times, the church was in disrepair. There were premises for a rescue station, and before that there were locksmith workshops and a library.

The main shrine of the temple- icon of 40 Sebastian martyrs with relics. The church is not always open. See the schedule of services (the schedule of services is promptly placed on the page In contact with).

Southern part of the city

There are five monasteries in Pereslavl-Zalessky - three for men and two for women. Four of them are located in the southern part of the city, within walking distance from each other.

The monasteries of Pereslavl suffered greatly during the Soviet period. Not all of them are now operating, not all have been restored, but work is underway to restore them.

I propose to start the tour from the Goritsky Monastery, which towered over the city. Its towers and the majestic appearance of powerful walls give the monastery a resemblance to a fortress.

Goritsky Assumption Monastery and Art Museum

Monastery for men with very ancient history. It is called Goritsky because it is located on a mountain.

A bit about the history of the monastery

The monastery was founded under Ivan Kalita(beginning of the 14th century). The original wooden buildings of the monastery were destroyed by the troops of Khan Tokhtamysh. Later it was rebuilt thanks to the efforts of the wife of Dmitry Donskoy. The monastery was abolished in 1744. At first, the residence of the bishop of the Pereslavl diocese was placed here, but after 44 years it was also closed.

The territory of the monastery is quite impressive, which speaks of its wealth and prosperity in the past. Powerful stone walls with towers, as well as the Passage and Holy Gates appeared here in the 17th century. On the belfry is now Observation deck , from which you can admire the views of the city outskirts and Lake Pleshcheyevo. Although it is small in height, the monastery itself stands on a mountain, so the views from the site are very spectacular.

The largest temple on the territory of the monastery - Assumption Cathedral. It began to be built in the 50s of the 18th century, but due to the abolition of the diocese, it was never completed. Go inside the cathedral, as the best craftsmen from New Jerusalem worked on its design. Preserved very beautiful gilded iconostasis the work of the Moscow master Y. Zhukov.

Now posted here Historical and Art Museum-Reserve with an art gallery(not a bad collection, which includes works by Korovin, Makovsky, Polenov, Mashkov and Lentulov).

The work of Konstantin Korovin "Early Spring" from the art gallery of the Pereslavl Museum

One of the churches in operation is gate church Nicholas the Wonderworker at the end of the 17th century. A bust of Yuri Dolgoruky, the founder of Pereslavl-Zalessky, is installed on the monastery territory.

There is also a necropolis here (one of the most famous graves is that of academician of painting D. Kardovsky).

House of Artist Kardovsky located below, next to the monastery.

Prices for visiting individual objects

A. Nevsky Museum

The exposition is dedicated to Alexander Nevsky, as well as the history of Pereslavl-Zalessky.

You can visit it only with a guided tour, it is included in the ticket price. The museum has wonderful guides who tell a very interesting story about the history of the city. Tour duration - about 40 min. It is convenient to combine a visit to this museum with a tour of the Goritsky Monastery.

Radio Museum

Located on Podgornaya Street, across the street from the Goritsky Monastery.

The unusual collection of the museum has been assembled by a true enthusiast and connoisseur of radio engineering. In addition to the old tube radio, old film and photographic equipment, the very first TV models (the famous KVN-49 and etc.). Most often, the owner himself and conducts tours. The duration of the tour is 30-40 minutes. Many exhibits can be touched and tested in action. Photography is free.

This is one of the most interesting museums in Pereslavl.

  • From Tuesday to Sunday - from 10:00 to 18:00,
  • Monday is a day off.

Holy Trinity Danilov Monastery

Located near the Goritsky Monastery.

This monastery was founded in 1508 by the Monk Daniel. During the Soviet period, the monastery was closed and returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1995. Now it is a functioning male monastery. On the territory of the monastery, the most interesting Trinity Cathedral 1532 built. Inside this cathedral are frescoes of the 17th century., created by masters of the Kostroma school under the guidance of Guria Nikitina and well preserved to our time.

Interestingly, the Trinity Cathedral was built in honor of the birth of the son of Vasily III, the future Tsar Ivan the Terrible.

Holy Righteous Daniel during his lifetime was known as the patron of all the poor, homeless, sick and wretched. No wonder it was on the territory of this monastery that the first hospital in Pereslavl was opened.

The relics of Righteous Daniel rest in the monastery, in the Danilovsky Limit of the Trinity Cathedral.

The monastery is open to the public:

  • weekdays - from 07:30 to 20:00;
  • Saturday, Sunday and holidays - from 8:30 to 20:30.

Feodorovsky Convent

current convent Pereslavl. It is located next to Dendropark and two other monasteries - Goritsky and St. Danilov.

A bit about the history of the monastery

The monastery was founded in 1304. Initially, it was a male monastery, but since 1667 it was transformed into a female one, and the few male brethren were redistributed to other monasteries of the diocese.

The main temple on the territory of the monastery is the Feodorovsky Cathedral, which was built and named after the son of Ivan the Terrible in 1557.

Under Soviet rule, the monastery was abolished. During this period, it housed either a children's colony, or a nursing home, or military institutions, or a hostel at the institute.

The monastery is known for the fact that it houses one of the most revered icons of the Mother of God in Russia - the Andronikov Icon of the Mother of God.

The Andronikov Icon of the Mother of God is the main shrine of the monastery. At the bottom, under the icon, there is a drawer where people write notes to the Mother of God with requests

This icon is associated with several interesting events. It is believed that it was written during the life of the Virgin by the Evangelist Luke. In Byzantine times, it belonged to Emperor Andronicus II Palaiologos. In honor of this, she got her name.

Subsequently, the icon ended up in Greece, in one of the Orthodox monasteries, and in 1823 was transported to Russia. For some time the icon stayed in the Kazan Monastery, which is not far from Vyshny Volochok. After its destruction under the Soviet regime, it was in Kazan, and later in the Epiphany Cathedral of this city, from where it was mysteriously stolen in 1984.

The icon, which is now in the monastery, was brought here by one of the parishioners in 1998. And in 2005, according to the monastery chronicle, a real miracle happened here. The icon of the Andronikovskaya Mother of God began to smell fragrant, and in the winter of 2006, myrrh streamed abundantly. Miracles of healing began to happen, which you can read about on the official website of the monastery: feodor.orthodox.ru

Our impression of visiting the Feodorovsky nunnery - the monastery is quite well-groomed, with large area but everything has been fully restored. The nuns are very friendly (it is said that there are now about 20 sisters living there). There are many pilgrimage groups in the temple where the miraculous icon hangs, but there is no fuss.

Photo and video filming inside the monastery is prohibited.

Sretenskaya Church

Something, but there are plenty of temples in Pereslavl. I personally will not take the liberty of counting all the cathedrals and churches in the territory of this city. But I would like to single out the Sretensky Church in particular. First of all, because it costs almost the very high place cities. And it looks so small and cozy among the huge monastic territories that surrounded it. It seemed to be lost among the three Pereslavl monasteries - Goritsky, St. Danilov and Feodorovsky.

The church was built in the 18th century. in the classical style, on the site of a wooden temple. From this place you can clearly see the panorama of the southern outskirts of the city with three monasteries located here. IN common days The church is only open in the morning. On major holidays, evening liturgy is also held.

Dendrosad

It is located next to the Feodorovsky Convent. It will be interesting for walks in the warm season for those who came to Pereslavl for a few days. Dendrosad was created by a resident of Pereslavl-Zalessky, an honored forester of Russia - S. F. Kharitonov. He took care of the park almost until the end of his life (and he died at 94). This a good place to walk and relax in nature. For children there is a playground, a fairy tale trail, many wooden sculptures, a large collection of plants. But the entrance to its territory is paid - 100 rub. for adults.

Opening hours: from 10:00 to 18:00.

Nikolsky Monastery

A working convent with a rather well-groomed and cozy territory - a pond, flower beds and fruit trees.

The monastery has a long history and was also originally founded as a male monastery. Many buildings in it were destroyed after the revolutionary events. For example, the bell tower main temple monastery - Nikolsky Cathedral, were blown up in the 30s of the XX century.

Nikolsky Cathedral was rebuilt in 2003, but a new style construction does not repeat the previous one. Now it is one of the largest and most majestic churches in the city. And on the site where the bell tower stood, there is now a belfry with three spans.

The main shrine of the monastery is the Korsun cross. This is a special, ancient Byzantine type of cross, with particles of the relics of saints inside.

There were only 10 such crosses. In Soviet times, the cross was in the Pereslavl Historical Museum, but in 2009 it was returned to the monastery. Also in the Nikolsky Monastery are relics of St. Andrew of Smolensk, and now a temple dedicated to him is being built.

Northern part of the city

Nikitsky Monastery

It's another one famous place pilgrimages in Pereslavl. Here are relics of St. Nikita the Stylite, the famous Pereslavl miracle worker and great martyr, who lived in the XII century.

The Nikitsky Monastery is one of the oldest in Russia and the oldest in Pereslavl-Zalessky. It is believed that it was founded as early as 1010.

A bit about the history of the monastery

The founder of the monastery is believed to be Prince Boris, the son of Prince Vladimir, the Baptist of Rus'. The original wooden buildings of the monastery, of course, have not survived to this day. The oldest monastery buildings date back to the 16th century. - the reign of Ivan the Terrible. At this time, the period of the greatest prosperity of the monastery fell. Ivan the Terrible was going to use the monastery as a fortress. Therefore, he erected powerful walls with towers and loopholes.

Nikitsky Cathedral- the main temple on the monastery territory. It was built in the 16th century. The relics of St. Nikita the Stylite are in the temple under a bushel. St. Nikita the Stylite died at the hands of robbers who mistook the old iron chains, in which the Saint was dressed, for silver ones. A stone chapel was built in 1786 on the site of his prayer service (pillar-well).

St. Nikita the Stylite during his lifetime became famous for the gift of healing. And now numerous pilgrims come to him with requests for healing from incurable diseases.

Icon of the 19th century depicting the Saints of Pereslavl - Nikita the Stylite, Cornelius, Daniel and Prince Andrei of Smolensk (collection of the Pereslavl Museum)

Approximately 1 km from the monastery (you need to go in the direction of Sin-stone) there is healing spring of St. Nikita- with a chapel and covered fonts. And next to the monastery there is a small chapel erected in honor of the healing of Mikhail of Chernigov. According to legend, Saint Nikita healed Prince Michael, who was paralyzed.

Trinity Church and the grave of Blessed Mishenka-Samuel

A small, unremarkable-looking church on the very edge of the city in Troitskaya Slobidka, which is now not in the best condition. But the church is active and has a long and interesting history. It is not necessary to go inside it, you will not see much interesting there. But this place itself may be of interest to those who came to Pereslavl-Zalessky for pilgrimage purposes. The fact is that here is the grave of the locally revered Saint - Blessed Mishenka-Samuel.

He lived in Pereslavl in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The story of his life is interesting and tragic, reminiscent of the fate of other famous Russian Saints - Blessed Matrona and Xenia of Petersburg. Among believers far beyond the borders of Pereslavl, the place of his burial became famous as miraculous. Holiday services are performed there, many come to the grave with requests for healing and other help.

If you leave the city in the direction of Rostov, you will immediately notice the sign “Tomb of Bl. Mishenki-Samuel”, standing on the road.

Outside Pereslavl

Museum-Estate "Botik Petra"

Although this is one of the most famous sights of Pereslavl-Zalessky, it did not make a big impression on us. Although the very place where Botik is located is very beautiful and perfect for walking. We walked there in winter, in summer it is probably even more beautiful. The "Boat Petra" is located outside the city, next to Lake Pleshcheyev, near the village of Veskovo.

The view from the high hill Gremyach to Lake Pleshcheyevo is impressive.

The estate "Botik Peter" is one of the oldest provincial museums in Russia. It was opened as early as 1803.

A bit about the history of Botik

This shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, 2 km from Pereslavl, was chosen by Peter I for the construction of his famous Amusing Flotilla. This is where the Russian fleet originates from.

"Peter's Flotilla on Pereslavl Lake August 25, 1692" - the work of the artist D. Kardovsky

The first launch took place here May 1, 1692. The ships were built at a shipyard located near the Trubezh River, in Pereslavl itself. It is known that during the construction of ships, the king lived in the Nikitsky and Goritsky monasteries.

Here is the Botik himself:

This is the only surviving ship of the famous amusing flotilla, moreover, made by Peter himself.

On the territory of the museum complex there are other museums with small expositions. Pavilion "Rotonda" introduces the interiors of the XVIII century. It was originally built as a dance hall. "White Palace" was built in the 19th century. to receive distinguished guests. Now there is an exhibition dedicated to Peter I.

Entrance to the territory of the museum-estate is paid, price - 30 rub.

Prices for visiting individual museums cm.

Open on the lake Cafe "Botik"

Cafe "Botik" on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo

And right next to him Record Museum. We did not visit this museum. As we understand, it works only on weekends. If you have a desire to go there, see the opening hours in the photo below:

We also did not dare to go to the Botik cafe. They say that here you should definitely try the most famous Pereslavl dish - royal vendace(which is found in Lake Pleshcheyevo).

In search of good Russian food, we decided to drive a little further - to the vaunted by our friends inn "Popov Meadow". Great place, highly recommended! Nearby is a store with local farm products (the name sounds a little bit Lithuanian - "Labaz").

Lake Pleshcheyevo

Pereslavl is famous for being located in very beautiful places - at the confluence of the Trubezh River with Lake Pleshcheyevo. Landscapes around are very picturesque, hilly. Not without reason, many filmmakers used the city's surroundings for filming their films. The most famous is, of course, S. Eisenstein's film "Alexander Nevsky".

Lake Pleshcheyevo is the habitat of the most famous local delicacy - the Pereslavl vendace. The image of this fish is on the coat of arms of Pereslavl. In former times, it was called "royal herring" and was served at the table of royalty.

In summer, a recreation center is located on Lake Pleshcheyevo. You can swim in the lake, there is a beach, places for fishing. Behind the beach there is a paid recreation area with a mini-zoo (mostly all kinds of goats, birds, but there is also a big bear in a cage), a small museum of antiquities. This place is called "Cossack camp"(only open during the warm season).

blue stone

The most famous object of Lake Pleshcheyevo. Many come here from afar specifically to look at this stone. Honestly, I don't really understand why? This is a huge boulder, outwardly not much interesting, but fanned with mysticism and various legends. Probably, this mysticism attracts curious tourists here. And, of course, it is customary to make wishes here.

The weight of the stone is 12 tons. It is called blue for its bizarre shade - slightly blue.

The History of the Blue Stone in Brief

It is not known exactly when he appeared in these parts, but it was in the days of paganism. Obviously, the ancient people worshiped him and brought sacrifices. Later, the stone was declared a demonic relic. Everyone tried hard to get rid of him. possible ways- then walled up, then buried, then drowned. But the stone floated up, got out, appeared again. In the end, they decided to leave him alone. So he now lies on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, at the very foot of the Alexander Mountain.

Rumor has it that this miracle stone changes its position every year.

At the very top of Mount Alexander, where the Blue Stone is located, stands cross of A. Nevsky. It was placed on the site of a former monastery founded by Alexander. If you wish, you can climb up and see it, and at the same time admire the surrounding landscapes.

Museum "House of the teapot"

If you've been to the Iron Museum, you'll find a similar story here, only about teapots. The guides here are the same comedians as in the "iron" museum. They tell about the history of the development of this item in a fun and interesting way, clearly demonstrating the history of the teapot on objects from the museum collection. Both museums make a positive impression and add positive emotions from visiting the city. The museum is located near the estate "Botik Petra".

The exact address: village Veskovo, st. Peter the Great, 17

  • in the warm season - daily from 10:00 to 18:00;
  • in the cold season - from 10:00 to 18:00 only on weekends and holidays.

Steam Locomotive Museum

An interestingly conceived museum worth a visit if you're into the locomotive theme. It is located 20 km from the city, the village of Talitsa. The road there is far from ideal and goes along Lake Pleshcheyevo.

It contains different models trains, wagons and locomotives. Everything is on the street and, frankly, is not in the best condition. One of the oldest specimens - a steam locomotive with traces of a red star in front, now looks rather deplorable. There is also an exhibition of retro cars. It is not very big and is located under the roof.

In general, this is not such a toy-gingerbread museum as the Iron and Kettle museums. Let's just say - for an amateur. For extra money, they offer a ride on a trolley (see prices below).

Opening hours:

  • in spring, summer and autumn - from 10:00 to 18:00 daily, except Monday and Tuesday;
  • in winter - from 10:00 to 17:00 daily, except Monday and Tuesday.

  • admission ticket - 150 rub. adults, 50 rub. pupils;
  • trolley riding - 150 rub. adults, 50 rub. pupils.

Varvarin source

A miraculous healing spring near the village of Kupanskoye, 12 km from Pereslavl. From the city you have to go towards the Sin-stone and further along the lake. The place is blessed, there are many pilgrims and those wishing to plunge into the font. Many simply go there in order to collect clean and tasty water from the source. People who want to get water often line up.

The spring is named after Saint Barbara. According to legend, bathing in this spring healed a deaf-mute. There is a chapel next to it.

If you are not on an SUV, then in the off-season it is better not to take risks and not drive, since asphalt is laid only on part of the way. From Sin-stone to the source can be reached on foot.

Where to stay

I often hear complaints that Pereslavl is good for everyone, but it is difficult to find decent accommodation options in it. I do not agree with this opinion and I think that everything is in order in Pereslavl with affordable and more or less decent housing. Unlike the same Rostov or Suzdal. Below are a few proven places with good value for money.

Hotel "Western"

An option for those who want to settle in the very center of Pereslavl.

Pros: central location, quite spacious rooms, comfortable large beds in the rooms, free parking, reasonable prices (from 2350 rubles). Delicious breakfast included in the price.

Minuses: I haven't found any major cons, unless I'm really picky.

Motel "Albitsky Garden"

Motel "Albitsky garden". Looks pretty nice on the outside

It is relatively well located main street Pereslavl. It also houses one of the most famous restaurants in the city. The cost of rooms - from 2000 rubles.

Pros: the rooms have everything you need. Humane price tag. It is easy to walk to the Nikolsky Monastery. The hotel has a parking lot with video surveillance.

Minuses: breakfast for a fee.

Petrovsky

Good hotel but far from the center. We love staying there. I recommend this place if you come to Pereslavl by car.

Pros: good prices, very spacious rooms with comfortable beds, friendly staff, good breakfasts included in the price, free parking in the territory.

Minuses: far from the center, breakfasts are held in a separate building, which is not very convenient in winter (you have to dress to go outside). But it didn't bother us too much.

Well, after that, one option with a claim - "Art Hotel". It offers designer apartments on 2 levels.

Pros: numbers big size with an unusual design, an art gallery in the hotel, the opportunity to take painting master classes. Breakfasts are included in the price. There is a garden with rabbits.

Minuses: a little expensive, during the stay it turns out that in some places it is not quite comfortable, there are minor flaws.

Where to eat and drink coffee

"Montpensier"

This cafe is business card cities. It is located in the very center, next to the Transfiguration Cathedral and the Iron Museum. Be sure to go there, inside is a very intimate atmosphere. When we were in the evening, only candles were lit from the lighting. The bill is brought in old Montpensier candy tins.

Cafe Montpensier. Behind him - the domes of the temple of A. Nevsky

Fisch Herberg - Herring Royal Ambassador

If you love herring then don't miss this place. This beautiful, slightly German-style mansion houses a hotel and a restaurant. I will not say anything about the hotel, except that the rating on booking is high. The restaurant's menu includes many fish and herring dishes. Prices are not the highest. A good place.

Albitsky garden

The institution also operates in the restaurant + hotel format. The restaurant is very decent, in the evenings there is live music - a saxophonist plays. The kitchen is good, the prices are at the level of Moscow.

Pie&Borscht

Relatively inexpensive you can dine at this place. The quality of the food is sometimes lame, and there are also complaints about the slow service. But, in general, you can dine here without pretensions.

We also occasionally had lunch/dinner at restaurant "Petrovsky" at our hotel. It is convenient only for those who stay in this hotel or is close to it. Since it is located far from the center. The quality of the food is good, the prices are also reasonable, there are almost no people.

About the restaurant "Popov Meadow" that in the vicinity of Pereslavl and cafes "At Botik", I wrote above.

Pereslavl-Zalessky with children

Pereslavl is a city very friendly to families with children. There are many places where you can go with children. For example, in small and interesting private museums - the Iron Museum, the Kettle House, the Radio Museum. You can also go to the Narrow Gauge Museum to ride a railcar. In addition to museums, you can take a walk in the Dendrosad. The estate "Botik Petra" on Mount Gremyach - also perfect place for walks and at the same time acquaintance with the history of the Russian fleet.

Here are 2 more "children's" places in Pereslavl.

Museum "The Birth of a Fairy Tale"

A fun museum with a lot of positive reviews on tripadvisor.ru. It is convenient to call here on the way to Pereslavl from Moscow along the highway M8. A little before reaching Pereslavl, this museum is located. The exact address: Yaroslavl region, village Vasilevo.

On the territory of the Museum "The Birth of a Fairy Tale"

"

Here you will find labyrinths with fairy-tale characters and pagan deities, a hut on chicken legs, a pond with a mill. On holidays, various interactive children's programs are held. It will be interesting for children of all ages, but especially for preschoolers and younger students.

Opening hours:

  • Tue-Fri: 10:00-16:00 (ticket office until 15:30),

  • Monday is a day off.

See the exact prices here: muzeiskazki.ru (they differ depending on the programs and format of visiting the museum).

"House of Berendey"

We were not there, we just passed by these bright wooden houses, stylized as a Russian hut. As far as I understand, this is a place for group visits, where various theatrical programs and master classes are offered, introducing folk crafts, customs and traditions. On the territory of the Berendey House there is a cafe-refectory with dishes of Russian cuisine (we didn’t dare to go into the cafe, since the reviews about this place are contradictory).

You can view programs, prices and sign up for excursions on the website: dom-berendej.ru

What to bring

Pereslavl has a standard set of souvenirs, which can be seen on the shelves of lively sellers in any of the cities of the Golden Ring. For example, like this:

If you still really want to bring something from here, then the best choice would be water from the holy springs - Nikitsky and St. Barbara, as well as a local delicacy - smoked vendace (usually they sell it on the square in front of the Goritsky Monastery, next to the A. Nevsky Museum ).

Have a nice walk around Pereslavl.

The ancient city of Pereslavl-Zalessky was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in the middle of the 12th century. The city is spread out on the shores of the picturesque Lake Pleshcheyevo among the endless forests and fields of the Russian Plain. This place breathes history, every inch of the earth has absorbed so many significant events that sometimes it seems that it is ready to tell every traveler about them.

Pereslavl-Zalessky is a protected area of ancient temples and monasteries, a city that remembers the great Russian princes who created the history of our state. More modern sights include incredible amount small private museums with original expositions dedicated to everything in the world: irons, sewing machines, electronics, kettles, interior items of a peasant hut.

What to see and where to go in Pereslavl-Zalessky?

The most interesting and beautiful places for walking. Photos and a short description.

The reservoir is considered one of the most beautiful in Central Russia; it is a natural landmark of the Golden Ring route. Pereslavl-Zalessky stands on its southeastern shore, and smaller settlements are also located along the perimeter. There are many around the lake. tourist bases and hotels where people come to fish, relax in nature or go kitesurfing.

Museum expositions occupy the premises of the Goritsky Monastery, which was abolished in the middle of the 18th century. Its structure includes the main building, art Gallery, the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior, the Boat of Peter I, the Ganshin Estate Museum and the exposition hall in Pereslavl-Zalessky. The exhibition areas feature icon painting, painting, wooden sculpture, as well as a variety of historical expositions.

Ancient Orthodox church, which was founded in the middle of the XII century by Yuri Dolgoruky (later Alexander Nevsky was baptized here). It is a cross-domed building with three apses and a single dome - one of the earliest monuments of the church stone architecture Northeast Rus'. The original painting has been lost, today there are white walls inside the cathedral. Here, a valuable icon of the 15th century "Transfiguration" was discovered, which was moved to the Tretyakov Gallery for storage.

Both temples are located in the central part of the city. They were erected in the middle of the 18th century at the expense of a local merchant on the territory where the Novodevichy Bogoroditsko-Sretensky Monastery was previously located. Inside the churches there were valuable icons of the 16th century, precious tabernacles and other utensils, but in 1925 all the property was removed. In the 1930s, after closing, the buildings were used as bakery workshops until their architectural value was recognized in 1936.

A tent temple of the 16th century, a rather rare monument of architecture for this area, built according to the project of an unknown author. The church has two thrones: warm and cold. Despite the restoration of the 1880s and 1970s, as a result of which the building acquired its original appearance, already in the 1990s it was in a very deplorable state. Despite the state of emergency, services are held in the temple from time to time.

The temple stands on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo in Rybnaya Sloboda. It has a very picturesque, "postcard" appearance and often acts as a symbol of Pereslavl-Zalessky. The church was erected in 1755 at the expense of Moscow merchants. Today, its façade is painted a bright pink, contrasting with the blue roof, and the walls are adorned with elaborately decorated window openings. Around the building is a circular observation deck overlooking the lake.

Today the St. Nicholas Monastery is a female monastery, but in the 14th century it began as a male monastery. Several times it was ruined as a result of raids, but after the disaster, monastic life resumed fairly quickly. In the 1920s, the institution was closed, main cathedral- they blew it up, in the rest of the premises they made a barn for cattle, apartments and repair shops. In the 1990s, after the return of the Russian Orthodox Church, new sisters actually came to ruins - many churches had to be rebuilt.

The male monastery of the XII century is one of the most ancient in North-Eastern Rus'. It is located next to Pleshcheevo Lake. The monks themselves believe that the monastery was founded in 1010, when wooden churches appeared on the shore of the reservoir - it was they who became the first temples of the monastery. Monuments of church architecture of the 16th-19th centuries, which are part of the architectural ensemble, have survived to this day.

Another male monastery of a later period, founded by a monk of the Nikitsky Monastery. Its main temple, the Trinity Cathedral, was built in honor of the birth of the heir to the throne (the future Ivan the Terrible). In the Middle Ages, the monastery acted as a large feudal lord, it had at its disposal numerous lands and many villages with peasants. Even after the ruin during the Time of Troubles, she did not completely lose her wealth.

The monastery was founded in the 15th century on the site of the battle between the Moscow and Tver princes, which took place in 1304. Until the second half of the 17th century, male monks lived in the community, then the sisters settled here. At the beginning of the 20th century, 500 nuns and nuns served in the monastery, three deserts (including Alekseevskaya) were assigned to the institution. In Soviet times, the monastery actually ceased to exist, its revival took place in the 2000s.

It is generally accepted that the "Boat of Peter I" is the very first provincial museum in Russia (it was founded back in 1803). Its central exhibit is the ship (boat) "Fortune", made by Peter the Great. This is the only surviving vessel of this type. The structure of the museum includes a monument and an obelisk in honor of the first emperor, the Boat House, the White Palace, the gatehouse, the triumphal gates and the rotunda.

Private exposition of railway equipment, founded in 1991. Within its framework, samples of rail transport of the 19th - first half of the 20th centuries, as well as various mechanisms and machines, one way or another connected with the railway, are collected. Many of the exhibits have been restored and are in working condition, while others require repair and restoration. In the museum you can see steam locomotives, engine locomotives, locomotives, railcars, wagons.

The museum is a small private collection located inside an old merchant's mansion built according to a classical design: the first floor is made of stone, where a souvenir shop operates, the second is made of wood (the exposition is located here). The museum is quite popular with tourists; at least 1,000 people visit it every month. The collection consists of over 200 irons that were ironed before the age of electricity.

It is almost impossible to drive past the House of the Teapot, as it is painted in bright colors that instantly catch the eye of travelers. It was founded by the owners of the Iron Museum in 2003. To attract visitors, the ingenious owners came up with original inscriptions and appeals and placed them on the fence and walls. After reading one of them, it is simply impossible to ignore such an insistent invitation to come inside.

The new museum of Pereslavl-Zalessky, which has already managed to earn high marks from visitors. Its exposition is located in two small halls and consists of items of peasant life and interior, presented from an interesting and rather non-standard side. But the main thing in this museum is the atmosphere and concept, which allows you to look at the peasant class in a completely new way and learn a lot of interesting things.

Another private museum showing visitors the history and achievements of radio engineering. All of its small space is occupied by radios of various sizes and formats brought from all over the world. The founders collected the exposition literally from cellars and attics, and as a result, a rather interesting exhibition turned out. In the shop at the museum you can buy rare parts for the repair of old devices.

The museum and the souvenir shop are located in the same building. The exposition consists of rare sewing machines, as the name suggests. The number of exhibits is more than 100. There are antique pre-revolutionary devices, Soviet cars and products of famous world manufacturers. The shop on the ground floor sells crockery, clothing and pottery.

The facility opened in 2012. Its exposition is devoted to the period of the city's history, when Alexander Nevsky reigned there. It has no analogues in Russia. During the tour, you can see the model of Pereslavl-Zalessky of the 12th century, icons depicting the prince, awards (medals and orders) bearing the name of Alexander Nevsky, the composition “Three Warriors”, consisting of figures of a Teutonic knight, a Russian knight and a Tatar-Mongol horseman.

The original collection of the museum consists of various devices and household items invented by savvy peasants and townspeople to facilitate housekeeping. Here you can see special dishes for mustachioed men, fruit cutters, openers, pest traps and other useful little things. The work of many exhibits is allowed to be tested in practice.

Tourist complex and historical and cultural center, consisting of a Russian village with wooden houses, inside which the atmosphere and interior of the 19th - early 20th centuries are recreated. Museum expositions telling about inventions and discoveries made by compatriots, and thematic alleys where you can meet heroes folk tales. The local tavern serves traditional Russian cuisine to tourists.

A small museum complex that combines an exposition, a playground, an atmospheric cafe and a gift shop. During the tour, visitors are told about traditional Russian life, customs and traditions, while actively involving them in a theatrical performance. The main character of the whole action is the fabulous Berendey. Excursion programs Museums are very diverse, you can choose any to your taste.

The museum is located about 30 km from the city, it is part of the Far Far Away Kingdom complex. The exposition consists of characters from fairy tales, as well as from the heroes of Slavic myths, made by the local sculptor and artist A. Tikhonov. During the tour, guests enter the wonderful world of ancient legends. To enhance the effect, special music and scenery were selected.

The garden appeared in the 1950s, since 1998 it has been included in the national park Pleshcheyevo Lake. Plants from different parts of Russia and the world are planted in eight zones: Crimea, the Caucasus, Far East, Siberia, Western Europe, China, Japan, middle Asia. For visitors, walking alleys are laid between the thickets, small stone bridges are thrown over artificial reservoirs.

A mysterious block, supposedly used as a ritual object back in the days of pagan Rus'. It was used in their rites by Merya and the ancient Slavs. In dry weather, the stone has a normal gray color, and during rain it turns blue. After the adoption of Christianity, the inhabitants continued to gather around the site to arrange dances and make fires, which infuriated the monks of the nearby monastery. The brothers constantly frightened people that an evil spirit lives in the Blue Stone.

Alexandrova Gora is the place of settlement of the Finno-Ugric tribe Merya, who came to these places in the 7th century. Some experts believe that pagan dances and games were held here during the holidays. According to another version, it is believed that the hill was built on the orders of Alexander Nevsky. In the XIII century, the Alexander Monastery was built on the mountain, which ceased to exist after 500 years.
