Airplanes app in the sky. Online Radar of aircraft in flight

New review is dedicated to air travel: we have tested and selected applications that will help make waiting for a flight and the flight itself comfortable. We didn't include the numerous flight booking services, trip planners, and collection assistants here, just the ones that will come in handy at the airport or on the plane.

1. SkyGuru: Aerophobic Pocket Helper

The new application of Russian developers is designed to help those who are afraid to fly. Created by a professional pilot, head of the Flying Without Fear aerophobia research center Alexei Gervash, the app clearly explains every sound and movement in flight - as if a pilot were sitting next to you. The app works even in airplane mode; however, for this you need to first tell him the flight number: then it will download information about the upcoming flight from professional sources, and the smartphone's sensors will help to recognize the current stages of the flight.

The app will warn you of turbulence (including estimated time entry into the zone and the duration of each) and tell you why it is not dangerous, describe the weather at the airport of departure and explain its effect on your sensations during takeoff, calculate real time on the way, taking into account the wind, comment on the sounds made by the aircraft, warn of possible go-arounds during landing and other maneuvers, show the current position of the aircraft in space, explain possible reasons flight delays, advise special techniques and exercises to combat aerophobia, answer “why the light is flashing”, “why open the curtains” and entertain with a mass fun facts. As a result, the flight turns into a conscious and therefore much less frightening process.

The only drawback is the price: SkyGuru costs 1490 rubles. Those who installed the application claim that it is worth the money - it is almost not scary to fly with it. SkyGuru will also appeal to those who are not afraid to fly, but are interested in aviation.

2. FlightBoard: airport information board in a smartphone

The application turns a smartphone or tablet into an information board of the selected airport. It allows you to view the status of any flight in real time, specify the time of departure and arrival, find out which planes are arriving in your city right now.

FlightBoard covers over 3,000 airports and 1,400 airlines ( charter flights, unfortunately, are not taken into account); information is updated every 5 minutes. Nice design "copied" from the information board of Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.

The application is Russified. Cost - 299 rubles.

3. App in the air: flight manager

A handy pocket assistant will notify you of all flight changes, advise where to eat at the airport, where to find an outlet and how to connect to Wi-Fi, help you check in for a flight and navigate airline loyalty programs. The functionality of the application is constantly expanding: the ability to track baggage has recently been added (so far for several airlines). Another fun option is the statistics of all your flights with the calculation of the total number of miles.

The application is Russified and covers 5000 airports around the world. When you purchase the premium version, App in the air even works offline (schedule changes are delivered via SMS and do not require internet access: very convenient when you are roaming).

Subscription for 3 months costs 699 rubles.

Thanks to the application, you can monitor the movement of aircraft around the world in real time. By clicking on any of the planes on the map, you will get all the information about the flight: route, time of departure and arrival, model, speed, altitude (the same can be done by pointing the phone at the plane flying in the sky). In addition, in the application, you can find flights by number, airport or airline, view the scoreboard of major airports, get alerts about changes in desired flight- and even see what the pilot of this or that aircraft sees in front of him. True, most of the features are available when you purchase the premium version.

Price - about 280 rubles.

Program to help you choose best places on board. All you have to do is enter the flight number and SeatGuru will show you the plan of the aircraft, showing the available seats, the characteristics of each seat, and photos of the users. If you don't remember the flight number - it doesn't matter: it's easy to find it by airline and departure time. You can check the flight status and ticket prices for the destinations you are interested in.

The application is not Russified, but works with most domestic airlines and airports.

Free and does not include in-app purchases.

6. GateGuru: Airport Guide

Free TripAdvisor app: by choosing desired airport, you can find out about the cafes, bars, shops, ATMs, rest rooms available there. The objects are sorted into three sections: "Food", "Shops" and "Services". Plans of airports are also presented with the designation of check-in counters and boarding gates.
The application is not Russified; domestic airports are poorly represented in it (they exist, but there is little information on them). But when traveling abroad, the application can be useful.

7. ATPL Dictionary: air translator

An excellent application for those who are interested in aviation "kitchen". Dictionary, which contains more than a thousand highly specialized words and expressions that are understandable to pilots, but completely unknown ordinary passengers. Unfortunately, the application is not Russified.

8. Flight+: all flight data

Traveler's pocket assistant: by entering the flight number or data about it, we specify the time of departure and arrival, the numbers of check-in counters and boarding gates, information about the aircraft model and the location of seats in the cabin. Pop-up notifications will notify you of changes in the schedule; It is possible to set yourself reminders about flights.
The application allows you to view the arrival and departure board of any airport, information about flight delays, a map of flights from the airport, terminal diagrams and an extended weather forecast in real time. You can also view information about the airline: flight schedules, flight maps, reference information.

The application is Russified and covers more than 3,000 airports and hundreds of airlines around the world (including domestic ones). Some functions are available with the purchase of a paid version (cost - 299 rubles).

9. MiFlight: Security Check Time Calculator

MiFlight allows you to correctly calculate the time and not be late for a flight if the airport is full, but also not to arrive with a giant margin to check in in three minutes and then hang around for hours waiting for boarding. Enter the airport and terminal of departure - and the application will tell you how long you will stand in line for check-in and how long the inspection will take. The built-in timer will help calculate how long these procedures actually took you, and based on the data received, it will adjust the calculations for the passengers following you.

So far, the application covers a small number of airports, and there are few Russian ones among them. In addition, the accuracy of the data depends on the number of MiFlight users in a particular terminal. So in Russia the application is almost useless, but in European capitals- functional. Price - 75 rubles. for unblocking all airports.

10. ANA Takeoff Mode: calm, only calm!

Let's finish the review with one more application for aerophobes. True, unlike SkyGuru, ANA Takeoff helps not to realize the problem, but to distract from it. As a matter of fact, this is an unpretentious toy for a smartphone, where you need to control the ball, pointing it at objects and avoiding obstacles. The simplicity of the game is deceptive: according to the developers, it was invented with the participation of psychologists, and the meditative music in the background adjusts to the noise in the cockpit and increases the volume when the engines go into takeoff mode (therefore it is better to play with headphones).

Having tested the game, we confirm: with its help, you can completely forget about the flight (as well as work, an unfed cat, a pie in the oven and the world around you). Moreover, the “Pause” button is not provided in the game, so it leaves no chance to be distracted by panic, thoughts “AAAAAA, we are about to fall!!!” and other manifestations of aerophobia. The application is free, but there is nothing to Russify in it: there is no text, only a ball and traps.

Happy flying!

If you have someone who loves to travel, flying around the country and around the world, then you will most likely want to find a way to track his flight and make sure he arrives safely at his destination. And if you take into account all the missing in Lately planes, then such a desire is quite justified. The choice of applications designed for these purposes is simply huge. We bring to your attention the best of them.

Airline Flight Status Tracking

With FlightHero, you can follow the flight by watching the aircraft in real time, get information about the specific time of arrival or departure of airliners at the airports you need. Its synchronization with the social travel organizer TripIt (which is also a “not sickly” application) is provided. In addition, you will have access to both the current coordinates of the aircraft and its cruising speed.

Flightradar24 Free

The Flightradar24 app has a wide range of features. You can find out about the movement of the aircraft in real time, information about the airline and even information about the call signs of individual aircraft. If you decide to purchase Flightradar24 Pro (paid version of the application), you will have detailed information about each individual aircraft, including its route, speed, flight altitude, etc. With the help of augmented reality technology, it will be possible to identify an aircraft flying over you. All you have to do is point your phone's camera at the sky. It will not be difficult to find a specific flight; filter information by parameters such as the name of the carrier company, flight altitude, speed, and more. Moreover, you can receive alerts about emergency signals, see directly on the map the flight route, call signs of any aircraft and airline logos in relation to a particular flying aircraft.

flight tracker

Compared to other applications presented in this review, the Flight Tracker application is not as feature rich. But with its help, you will have the opportunity to use such a service as receiving real-time information about the status of a particular flight. Regardless of the location of the airport, data on the exact time of departure and arrival of aircraft and information about the terminals at the gate will be available. Definitely not the most best app However, by providing reliable information, it clearly and fully fulfills the tasks assigned to it. Which, you see, is also not so bad.

Airport (All) + Flight Tracker

It's a truly amazing feature-packed app that runs on a version of the Android Wear operating system designed for smartwatches and wearables. It contains data for more than 2,500 airports around the world. SeatGuru: Maps+Flights+Tracker

In addition, the SeatGuru app allows you to view maps to see which route the flight will take, as well as receive accurate information regarding the time of arrival at the destination. The app has a pretty decent interface. You can install it completely free of charge, without in-app purchases.

PNR Status Rail Flight Tracker

It will help you save time by getting all the necessary travel notifications. The app provides features such as Automatic trip PNR identification; Review your trip status; Booking status alerts (PNR Status alerts); Train Delay alerts; Flight Delay alerts; Alerts about when web check-in starts (Flight web check-in alerts); Boarding a train without presenting a paper version of the document (Paperless Boarding for Trains); Paperless entrance to the airport; The ability to see all your PNRs on one screen (See all your PNRs in one screen), and much more.

By means of transponders installed on board the aircraft, flight data is transmitted directly to your phone and, therefore, you can follow the flight in real time. There is a SkyView function: (function "find the plane"). Just point your phone's camera at the sky to identify the aircraft flying over you. One of the distinguishing features of this application is the full functionality of the search: you can find, for example, any flight, city or airport. It is possible to save the places you like the most. Take photos of the aircraft. Also available (in real time) running line informing about the time of departure/arrival.

FlightAware Flight Tracker

The app makes it easy to get the information you need and filter it by flight number, airport/carrier airline or destination. All this makes it easier to find out exact time departures, arrivals or schedule changes. This app is (more than any of the others) up-to-date and very popular these days.

FlightView Free Flight Tracker

The FlightView application is feature rich and is also one of the leaders in providing real-time flight information. For example, using the Track flights function, you can easily track the movement of the flight you need on the map, which displays the trajectory of the aircraft and current meteorological radar data at the moment. Thanks to the My Home page, you can easily access data regarding both the current status of your home airport and your next trip. Flight Status Push Alerts for flights are stored in the My Trips subkey. It is possible to view information regarding terminals, boarding gates and baggage claim. In addition, you can find out information on the aircraft on which you will travel, and (for previous flights) check its status through Aircraft’s Previous Flight. With Driving Directions to Airport integrated with Google Maps, you can lay the traffic pattern to the airport. By looking at the schedule of aircraft between cities, it is easy to find alternative flights. It is also available to search for flights 350 days before departure and save information on them.

FlightRadar | History and description

In 2007 the Swedish Travel company Network developed the Flightradar24 real-time aircraft tracking system in the air. The radar operates 24 hours a day. The data received by the system is displayed on a map and allows you to see aircraft online all over the world - a map of aircraft flights.

When you select any aircraft on the map, the system displays a list of its data, including:

  • type of aircraft and its photo,
  • tail number and airline affiliation,
  • place of departure and landing,
  • altitude and current speed,
  • geographic position in degrees,
  • distance traveled from the departure airport and other data.

The system also supports aircraft search by flight number.

The database is updated every few seconds, and the positions of all aircraft on the map are specified. The collected data is stored in the system memory for 28 days, allowing you to track not only current flights, but also those that have already ended. This Flyradar24 has become very popular in our time. People use it for certain tasks - to track a flight, or they are just interested in watching planes online on the radar.

The principle of operation of the Flyradar

Almost all aircraft of the latest generations use the method of receiving flight information from the aircraft using the ADS-B transponder. This allows you to track the movement of freight and passenger aircraft in various parts the globe. However, the system does not track aircraft not equipped with this transmitter.

Currently, no more than 60% of aircraft in the world (less than 30% in the US, but more than 70% in Europe) are equipped with this device, but their number is constantly increasing.

What is the coverage area of the Fly Radar system?
Aircraft Map - The FlightRadar system uses over 500 transceiver stations that communicate with the ADS-B transponder. They collect information from all aircraft in the air, equipped with ADS-B transponders, and transmit it to the central server of the system, which, after processing the data, displays the position of these aircraft on a map in real time.

Of course, aircraft without ADS-B transponders, or those outside the coverage area of the network of stations, are not displayed on the service map. More than 90% of Europe is covered by a network of stations, and coverage is also present in the North and South America, Australia, in Japan and some other regions of the Earth.

Displayed aircraft types on Flyradar
Listed below are all types of aircraft displayed by the system (having an ADS-B transponder):

  • All Airbus (Airbus A300 - A380)
  • BAeATP
  • BAe Avro RJ70-85-100
  • The most popular Boeing modifications (Boeing 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787)

  • McDonnell Douglas MD10–MD11

  • The latest models Ilov and Tu (IL-96 and Tu-204)

Aircraft types not displayed on Flightradar24 (not having an ADS-B sensor)

  • An-225 "Mriya"
  • ATR-42-72
  • Boeing 707, 717, 727, 737-200, 747-100, 747-200, 747SP
  • CASA all models
  • Bombardier all models
  • Dornier 328

  • Saab 340-2000
  • Aircraft of the Presidents ("Air Force One")
  • Outdated aircraft models
  • The vast majority of military aircraft of all countries

There are also a huge number of exceptions. Some aircraft from various companies or popular Cessna private jets are visible on the Flyradar, while some Boeing and Airbus aircraft not equipped with ADS-B transmitters are not visible on the service map. The online aircraft map is one of the most interesting inventions that is being improved every day - stay tuned.
