The best resorts and beaches of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean - azure waters, white sand and chic bungalows under palm trees. Seas of the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic provides everyone with an excellent opportunity to take a break from that long snowy and short, "grass and flowers" winter, so characteristic of the Russian climate. When you glance at the photographs of the Dominican Republic, it seems that a good computer graphics specialist has worked hard on them, but once you see the Caribbean live, you immediately understand that everything here is really like that! Moreover, there is still something here that photography simply cannot convey: the gentle ocean breeze, the wonderful aromas of fresh fruits and flowers, the quiet whisper of the waves, the gentle sand under your feet. What else meets tourists visiting the Caribbean? Gorgeous beaches with white sand, real mojitos and daiquiris, dolphins and whales splashing in the ocean waves, luxury hotels and incendiary nightclubs. Many carnivals are held in the Dominican Republic, you just have to come to the island before Lent (in February) or in June to visit the Caribbean Music Festival, two weeks in late July and early August is the time for the meringue festival, and August 15 is Restoration Day.

The capital of the Dominican Republic is the oldest city in Caribbean region, founded by Europeans, its history began in 1496. Founded it, as the legend says, the brother of Christopher Columbus - Bartolomeo. The capital is divided into two parts by the Osama River, with the most interesting areas The cities are located on the western bank of the river. Be sure to visit Fort San Diego, the oldest cathedral in America, Santa Maria la Menor, the fortress of La Fortalesa, admire the Faro o Colon lighthouse, a symbol of the city, which, in addition, is a museum and the mausoleum of Columbus. The area of the best shops and restaurants of Santa Domingo is located between the streets of February 27, Winston Churchill, John F. Kennedy and Maximo Gomez.

One part of the resorts of the island is located on its Atlantic coast, and the second is located on the side of the Caribbean Sea. There are practically no strong tides in all resorts of the Dominican Republic, and the water is more salty in the Caribbean Sea.

Atlantic Coast:

Puerto Plata is a beach stretching along the Atlantic coast for 120 km, where high season it is impossible to find a free place, there are so many vacationers on them - both tourists and local residents. Winter is much calmer in this regard, although cafes and restaurants still continue to work.

Sosua - small town, in which tourists can expect a lot of entertainment, the main among which is communication with the same fans of carefree relaxation and a great pastime.

Cabarete is a favorite place for windsurfers. The most suitable winds for surfing blow in these places in February-March, and then Cabarete is filled with many young people hanging out on the beaches from dawn to dusk.

Caribbean coast:

Boca Chica is this famous resort located in a small lagoon, enclosed by a coral reef, the depth here is no more than one and a half meters, and the sand is unusually fine. This beach is rightfully considered one of the best beaches in the country. Classes are provided for the entertainment of tourists water sports sports and trips to Santa Domingo, located very close - thirty kilometers.

Juan Dolio is a three-four-star hotels located on the very coast. Since this resort is located almost next to the capital, vacationers here have a great opportunity to combine the delights of sunbathing and swimming with visiting excursions. One small drawback - the entrance to the sea on this beach is not very convenient due to the fact that the bottom is overgrown with corals.

La Romana is a small resort with luxury hotels located 110 km from the city of Santo Domingo. This is a place for family vacations, diving and fun with the same talkative travelers.

Bayahibe is a port and a small village, excursion yachts depart from here to the islands of Saona and Catalina. Several hotels are located in the neighborhood of the village - a popular holiday destination for couples seeking seclusion from the noisy crowds. There is a very calm sea and a great place for diving - shoals of fish come right to the shore.

Punta Cana is also a secluded resort designed for fans of a relaxing holiday. To be honest, its 32-kilometer white-sand beach is almost never deserted, but sometimes such a miracle happens in January-February. Hotel complexes in Punta Cana are separated from each other by mangrove forests, which allows you to create peace and serenity in hotels. This resort is home to well-known hotel chains such as Paradisus, Sol Melia, Princess, Barcelo and Iberostar. In the work of most of them, the all inclusive system, beloved by Russians, is supported. And in Punta Cana, "everything" really means "everything."

The Dominican Republic, or simply the Dominican Republic, occupies most of the island of Haiti, and also has a number of small islands in its jurisdiction, which looks extremely attractive from the point of view of tourist holiday. Being the second largest country in the West Indies (after Cuba), the Dominican Republic has a long coastline - almost 1,300 kilometers, which indicates an impressive number of large and small resorts. Since the Dominican lands are washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, travelers often have questions - are there any differences between these coasts, what are they, and in this case, which part of the Dominican Republic is better to choose for a vacation? Let's try to figure it out.

Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic

the Atlantic Ocean washes northern and eastern parts Dominican Republic. The very first thing that can be said about the resorts located on these shores is that they should be chosen, first of all, by all windsurfers, advanced divers and adherents of other marine activities. The Atlantic carries stormy waves, and if the east coast of the Dominican Republic is covered by an extended shield coral reef, then on the northern shores, it happens that tourists do not risk swimming for several days.

Territorially to northern part Atlantic coast refers coastline from the border with Haiti to the Samana Peninsula. Another unique feature of the region is that there are many climatic zones in a relatively small segment. On the western "outskirts" of the northern coast, it is very dry - even arid. The terrain here is rather monotonous, flat. Vegetation does not tend upward either: green spaces are represented mainly by shrubs. The seeming dullness of the area is diluted with two magnificent national parks with thickets of outlandish mangroves and beautiful sea views.

The piece of land between Cofresi and Nagua is also called the Amber Coast due to its rich amber deposits. Golden beaches here interspersed with lush mountain forests, therefore, this region is concentrated most of north coast hotels. Mountain biking, horseback riding, ocean fishing, surfing, diving and other extreme sports are most widespread here. Speaking of diving: the Dominican Republic as a whole is considered the best place Caribbean for snorkelling and scuba diving: coral reefs and underwater lawns in this region are distinguished by an amazing variety of flora and fauna (there are beautiful tropical fish and stingrays in the local waters, even manatees and humpback whales swim!), the bottom relief is very picturesque and rich in cavernous formations, but the most interesting and exciting came to the bottom from the surface - these are sunken ships of various eras. Over the past half century, about four hundred ships have been in distress in the region, so there is something for divers to admire. It is not surprising that under such conditions in any resort in the Dominican Republic a solid diving center, or even more than one, will be waiting for you. The Atlantic coast of the country is worth choosing for experienced divers, while beginners can practice and gain experience in the much calmer waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Samana Peninsula ends the northern part of the Atlantic coast. Perhaps this is the most picturesque part of not only the Dominican Republic, but the entire Caribbean. This is how we usually imagine an exotic paradise: many kilometers of deserted expanses of white sand, tired coconut palms leaning over turquoise water. Resting on Saman in January-March, you can watch whales splashing in the distance: at this time they come here from cold waters North Atlantic to reproduce offspring.

The best resorts on the north coast of the Dominican Republic

Puerto Plata

The heart of the northern Dominican Republic, the place where Christopher Columbus landed, is Puerto Plata, stretching along the Amber Coast. This resort is the second most popular in the Dominican Republic after Punta Cana, although it is very different from it: here you can relax in silence, relax, enjoy nature and learn how to tame the Atlantic wave on a surfboard. Fans of an active nightlife in Puerto Plata will certainly be disappointed by the long and unsuccessful search for a working disco. Founded at the end of the 15th century, the city offers its guests to see a number of ancient buildings ( old center city, the fort and the Cathedral of San Felipe) and visit some good museums. The main wealth of the resort is bestowed upon it by nature. For example, Isabel de Torres is the highest mountain in this area, to the top of which you can climb by car, on foot or by cable car. From the top of Isabel de Torres, arms outstretched, looking at the city ... a statue of Christ the Redeemer! A reduced copy of the masterpiece from Rio de Janeiro was presented to Puerto Plata by the Brazilian authorities.

To visit Puerto Plata and not visit the reserve "27 fountains" would be a grandiose omission. This is a natural water park with twenty seven, as the name implies, cascading waterfalls. Tourists are invited to climb seven, twelve or all twenty-seven waterfalls along secret paths and rope ladders, and then go down the water.

Playa Dorada

A little east of Puerto Plata is the resort complex Playa Dorada. It is very popular among tourists, also due to the airport, located just 15 minutes away, which is very convenient for families with children and pensioners who can hardly endure long journeys. But, of course, this is not the only advantage of Playa Dorada. The fabulous-looking beach with a gentle entrance to the water is awarded the Blue Flag and is considered one of the best in the Dominican Republic. Amazing nature, the highest service in local hotels, unlimited space for active and extreme pastime, a large selection of restaurants and bars, the famous 18-hole golf course and a casino - all this in the complex makes Playa Dorada an ideal vacation spot for any category of tourists.

Cabarete

A resort for young, mobile, full of energy and adrenaline people. He himself is young - just a dozen years ago, fans of surfboards chose the tiny fishing village located here for their activities, and now Cabarete Beach is included in the world's Top 10 places ideal for surfing. All thanks to the fact that not a single coral barrier prevents the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and vigorous trade winds delight lovers of sea extreme all year round. Cabarete annually hosts world windsurfing competitions, as well as tournaments in kiteboarding, which is gaining popularity. The coastline of the resort is abundantly dotted with various bars, because where else, if not in a noisy establishment with a glass of strong drink, to relax after taming the Atlantic waves?

For those who do not belong to the cohort of extreme athletes, we can recommend a visit to the El Choco National Park, which is a little older than the resort itself: only 25 years ago it was given this official status. In El Choco, you will find the richest flora, many orchids, tropical birds and even a dozen species of bats, but the main asset of the park is the system of underground caves with pools "Caribbean Karst", where you can get on a tour and swim. The territory of the reserve is decent, it’s easy to get lost on foot without a guide, so it’s better to hire a guide or go around El Choco on horseback or in jeeps.

Sosua

Another youth place on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic is comfortably located in a calm bay between Cabarete and Puerto Plata. The small resort is the party center of the region: there are many bars and discos in Sosua, mostly bachelors rest here. The local white-sand beaches are quite wide, therefore, despite a large number of vacationers, everyone here can sit comfortably. Not far from the coast there is a compact but densely populated coral reef where you can go snorkeling: the local diving center will provide tourists with vivid impressions. Among other attractions of Sosua, one can note the botanical garden and the old market, as well as the Jewish quarter: back in the 1940s, Jews who fled from Europe found refuge here. In winter, the main entertainment here is boat trips to flocks of humpback whales that swim here to procreate.

Samana

This peninsula is highly recommended for visiting independent tourists. Despite the presence of two international airports and three major cities, Samana remains a quiet, peaceful place and is famous for its virgin nature: coconut groves, caves, waterfalls, clean rivers and deserted beaches - sheer relaxation. There are several national parks on the peninsula, the largest of which is Los Gaitises with mysterious caves, in which the Indians used to live (as evidenced by the drawings on the walls), and now only bats. Another local attraction that would be extremely unfair to ignore is the 30-meter El Limon waterfall. They say that everyone who bathes in it is waiting for untold wealth. Tours and tastings at the ranch where coffee and cocoa are grown are very popular.

Part of the province of Samana is the small island of Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island - it was here that the first commercial of this popular brand was filmed. And if you are lucky enough to be on the peninsula in February, then your path must necessarily run through the capital of the province - the city of Santa Barbara de Samana, where a merry salsa and meringue festival takes place at this time.

East coast The Dominican Republic, washed by the Atlantic Ocean, is considered the most popular and sought-after recreational region of the country. Here are the largest resorts and there are practically no cities in the usual sense of the word. It is here that the hotels with which tour operators from the CIS countries are most actively working are located. A large coral reef stretches almost along the entire coast, protecting the land from the energetic waves of the ocean and along the way creating excellent conditions for memorable diving. In other words, the resorts of the eastern part of the Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic will be an ideal place for recreation for both active and restless tourists and contemplative couch potatoes.

The best resorts on the east coast of the Dominican Republic

Punta Cana

This is a huge resort region, located at the "junction" of the Atlantic Ocean with by the caribbean. The biggest, the most popular, the most beautiful - you can pick up adjectives in a superlative degree of comparison for a very long time to describe it. The main pride of Punta Cana - wide beaches dotted with coral paper-white sand, planted with thick coconut palms and lined with exotic bungalows covered with dried palm paws. And all this beauty is in municipal property, so you can sunbathe and swim freely and free of charge. Punta Cana was also lucky with the weather: the rainy season here is very short, and average monthly temperature all year round is practically unchanged - around 30 degrees, which are softened by light ocean breezes. This resort for honeymooners is becoming more and more popular: the days spent here will be remembered by the newlyweds all their lives as a real honeymoon.

A few words about the national Dominican fun - diving: coastal waters are very transparent, and visibility under water in the summer season reaches 30 meters. The most popular for swimming is the part of the reef, which is called the "Marinarium", where eagle rays and even harmless baleen nurse sharks live. There is also a “own” sunken ship here: even from the shore you can see the mast of the cargo ship Astron sticking out of the water (by the way, it was listed on the balance sheet in Russia), which ran aground during a storm in 1978 and went to the bottom. Jeep safari is another active, gambling and highly demanded entertainment among tourists from the CIS countries, with the help of which you can travel from a cool hotel civilization to a riot of tropical jungles for a day and feel like a hero of an adventure action movie. Also in the vicinity of Punta Cana there are a dozen first-class golf courses, some of which, such as Punta Espada, are included in various world ratings. And if someone does not like these bourgeois excesses, then welcome to the world of agritourism: there are several villages near the resort where travelers can touch the life of ordinary locals and personally participate in the harvesting of sugar cane or other home crafts.

Fans of hanging out and dancing in Punta Cana will not have to lose heart: in addition to the discos available at each hotel, the resort offers to visit a lot of original clubs, the most popular of which, perhaps, can be called Imagine, located in a natural cave: three dance floors framed by stalactites will definitely remember for a long time!

bavaro

In the very southeast of the Dominican Republic is the resort of Bavaro, which can be classified as "luxury". Just some 30 years ago, the winds simply rustled in the mangroves here, and today the area has all the attributes of an aristocratic holiday: five-star hotels, tennis courts, casinos, golf courses, stables, expensive shops and even a dress code in a number of establishments. For those who are satisfied with comfort and respectability, Bavaro is ready to offer a lot of entertainment in addition to diving, snorkeling and jeep safari, traditional for the whole country: for example, an excursion to the Palm Cemetery, where strange birds live in mangrove deadwood, or to the Oleg Bat House cave - dwelling of several species of bats. Those who come on vacation with the whole family have the opportunity to take the children to the dinosaur park or Manati Park, where you can swim with dolphins. A new level of nightlife offers the most famous club Bavaro Coco Bongo is not just a disco, but a real show with large-scale choreographic performances, vocal numbers and acrobatic etudes.

Cap Cana

If you are rich, then why not visit Cap Cana? This is a small and very young resort, one of the co-founders of which is Donald Trump. Just ten minutes drive from Punta Cana Airport, you can live in a luxurious bungalow with private access to the ocean. Beauty, cleanliness and level of service in Cap Can go far beyond the conventional scale of five stars. The cost of all this happiness is rather big, which is why businessmen and Hollywood stars fly here all the time.

Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic

Caribbean Sea washes southern part Dominican Republic, so the two most obvious differences between the local resorts from the northern and eastern ones are the absence of waves and higher water temperatures. The capital of the state, the city of Santo Domingo, is also located on the Caribbean coast, and there are also famous islands Beata and the Elephant.

The best resorts on the south coast of the Dominican Republic

Boca Chica

Located near the capital of the Dominican Republic, the Boca Chica resort can be classified as affordable and affordable. At the same time, the moderate cost of vouchers here in no way affects the conditions of rest or the level of service. Families with children primarily seek Boca Chica: the resort has the unofficial title of the largest bath in the world due to the always warm and calm water and a very gentle entrance to the sea. Boca Chica Beach is considered the cleanest on the entire southern coast: the coral reef takes on everything that waves can bring here, and natural underwater springs constantly feed the bay with crystal clear water.

The history of Boca Chica dates back only a few decades, so the resort cannot offer any special attractions to its guests. Most interesting place of the city is Calle Duarte, where most of the entertainment venues are concentrated.

Diving is a must in Boca Chica: the area is ideal for your debut in scuba diving, and there are two shipwrecks in the La Caleta Underwater Park! In the immediate vicinity of the coast of Boca Chica, there are two tiny islands - La Matica and Los Pinos, which can even be reached on your own by renting a sea bike. The first is covered with mangroves, the second - with pine trees, where you can hide from human noise and feel like Robinson.

La Romana

Painting the beach beauties of La Romana is a thankless task: small White sand, turquoise water and coconut palms here are as incredible as in the already described Dominican resorts. The main focus of La Romana is quiet and peaceful family holiday. Although the city is over 500 years old, it is also not very rich in attractions: living a quiet life of a hard worker, La Romana has been known throughout its history as a center for processing sugar cane. Nevertheless, there are several interesting places in the vicinity of the resort that are worth visiting. For example, the village of artisans and artists of Altos de Chavon. Its construction was completed only in the 1990s, but all the buildings in it correspond to the canons of Italian architecture of the 16th century. The picturesque area (a hill above the gorge) and man-made beauty often attract newlyweds here for a wedding ceremony.

Near La Romana, the Chavon River flows, along which you can kayak. You should definitely visit Cueva de las Maravillas ("Cave of Miracles"), which the skillful hands of architects turned into a real underground palace with several halls, stone bridges and stalactite arches.

Saona

While relaxing in La Romana or Punta Cana, you can go on a day trip to Saona Island. Once upon a time, a commercial for the Bounty chocolate was filmed on this island, and since then, the paradise views of Saona have been firmly imprinted in memory, and even the term "bounty island" has appeared in everyday speech, which can be briefly and clearly described unearthly beauty any coast. Unfortunately, it is impossible to settle here: there is not a single hotel on Saona, and the island itself is a natural reserve.

Santo Domingo

The capital of the Dominican Republic, located at the point where Osama flows into the Caribbean Sea, more than compensates for the lack of attractions in other cities in the region. Founded in 1496 by the younger brother of Christopher Columbus, Saint Domingo is the first city in the New World. The rich architectural heritage of the XV-XVI centuries allowed it to get into the UNESCO registers. An abundance of colonial era attractions in 2010 brought Santo Domingo the title of cultural capital of the Northern and South America, so get ready: there will be a lot of interesting things here!

The well-preserved Osama fortress, which protected the city from pirate raids, the Alcazar de Colon Palace, the first in the New World Cathedral- all these structures arose on the Caribbean coast at the very beginning of the 16th century! The symbol of the city is the Lighthouse of Columbus, and the remains of the great navigator are also buried here. Alleys, parks, beautiful streets, a seaside promenade framed by palm trees - walks along Santa Domingo will be long and pleasant. Nature lovers will also not have to regret that they have chosen the most Big City Dominican Republic: there is a botanical garden, an aquarium, a unique cave complex and a zoo.

Juan Dolio

Between Santo Domingo and La Romana on the coast beautiful bay there is another popular resort of the Dominican south - Juan Dolio. The town is small and calm, so mostly lovers of peace and tranquility rest here. Comfortable hotels of various price categories are located along the wide sandy strip of the continuous beach. Diving and snorkelling of the highest Dominican quality, hiking and cycling in the surrounding area, visiting a nearby flower farm will diversify your measured rest. The excellent location of Juan Dolio allows you to go to see the sights of Santo Domingo or admire the caves of La Romana at any time. It remains to be added that the Dominicans themselves prefer to relax in Juan Dolio, and the inhabitants of this country know something about resorts.

Barahona

This resort is located in the southwest of the Dominican Republic, at its very border with Haiti on the Pedernales Peninsula. It cannot be included in the list of the most popular due to the fact that it is a little more difficult to get to it. Yes, and huge hotel complexes not here either, but the main wealth of Barahona is amazing nature. Firstly, these are deserted wild beaches in a bay surrounded by mountains. Secondly, a variety of picturesque water objects - rivers, lakes, waterfalls. Thirdly, the Barahona is surrounded by unique natural parks and reserves where you can meet iguanas, flamingos, lizards and crocodiles. Also here is a mysterious place - Polo Magnetico. If you leave the car in neutral gear in this anomalous zone, you can observe the rarest optical illusion: the car will crawl by itself ... up!

The resort area of Punta Cana is very popular among tourists from all over the world due to its stunning white sand beaches and luxury hotels for every taste and budget. The best beaches of Punta Cana often appear on the covers of travel magazines and in booklets dedicated to the Dominican Republic. In this article we will tell you about all the beaches resort area Punta Cana, which stretches for about 50 km along the east coast of the Dominican Republic. Perhaps our review will help you better understand the features of each beach and choose a hotel to your liking. Let's say someone likes waves, and someone prefers calm water. Someone wants marine life, and someone would prefer to do without it :) In general, we read, comment, ask questions! Go:)

What sea or ocean in Punta Cana

Do you know what sea or ocean washes the Dominican Republic? Personally, I didn’t know before until I bought a tour to this hotel and looked at the map :) If you haven’t looked at the map yet, I’ll tell you! The Dominican Republic is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the north and the Caribbean Sea in the south. Lucky so lucky! Punta Cana belongs north coast and this means that the resort is washed by the Atlantic Ocean. But if you drive a few tens of kilometers south of Punta Cana, you can get to the place of Bayahibe, which is washed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea. Usually it is from the fishing village of Bayahibe that tourist boats sail to the island of Saona.

There is another opinion and I think it has a place to be! If you look at the map, you can see that Punta Cana is located on the right side of the island. Halfway between the Caribbean and the Atlantic. And who knows exactly where the ocean ends and the sea begins? And if you compare the color and features of the water, then we can safely assume that the Juanillo beach in Cap Cana is located on the Caribbean Sea. Did I confuse you? Then read on and find out :)

Uvero Alto beach

Description of the beaches of the resort area of Punta Cana, we will start with the northernmost beach - Uvero Alto. It is away from many other beaches in the resort area, but has several good hotels. Uvero Alto has yellowish sand and offers a more relaxed atmosphere than other beaches in the region. Outside the beach areas of the hotels, you can only meet a few tourists and locals relaxing on the shore or walking along the water's edge.

Uvero Alto is approximately 45 minutes from the airport. It is not very famous among tourists from Russia. True, the Sirenis hotel located here is one of the most popular hotels among Russians.

In Punta Cana, there is a pattern according to which, when moving to the west, the waves become higher. Since Uvero Alto is located in the very west resort area, then you should not be surprised at the presence of high waves here, which are ideal for surfing, but can be dangerous for small children.

Hotels located on Uvero Alto beach:

breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa - Adults Only
Now Onyx Punta Cana
CHIC by Royalton Resorts Adults Only
Zoetry Agua Punta Cana
Le Sivory By PortBlue Boutique - Adults Only
Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort Casino & Aquagames (there is a water park, a great option for children)

Dreams Punta Cana
Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana Gourmet by Karisma (ideal for kids)

Oh, this famous Macau beach among surfers! It's hard not to love him! There are no white sands and luxury hotels. This is a wild, but damn attractive beach. It is definitely worth coming here on one of the days of rest. This can be done as part of excursions from Two Bananas :) or on your own by renting a car or ordering a transfer. Better to come on weekdays. There are a lot of locals here on weekends. But if you want to get a Dominican flavor, come on a Sunday! Definitely get into the party! On the beach there are a couple of cafes and a surf school. Cafes may seem completely unsanitary, but don't worry! Thousands of stomachs checked! You can even eat it delicious! But do not forget to find out the price of seafood in advance and check the weight of the fish (you can approach the scales with the seller). The calculation for fish or lobsters is by weight. Seafood is served with a side dish - fried bananas or rice. Sometimes they can be generous with a salad :)

Macau is located 40 minutes from the airport, close to the Hard Rock Hotel. The length of this beach is approximately 5 km, but most tourists can be seen in its eastern part, next to the rocks. Moreover, locals hang out at the rocks themselves, since the waves there are much smaller. And the surf school is a little further away, where the waves are stronger. Until recently, the beach was considered wild, but now they are going to build new hotel. On this occasion, local residents who have a small business on the beach are terribly indignant. They live in the village next door and all their earnings come from the wildness of the Macau beach. Someone sells nuts, someone has a cold beer, someone gives an iguana to take a picture ... But soon it will end, to my great regret: (So far there are no hotels on Macau beach, but there are small hostels. They are not on the coast but close to the village.

Arena Gorda means "greasy sand" in Spanish. For me personally, this is the most beautiful beach in Punta Cana, where the hotels are located. It is located close to famous beach Bavaro. Like Bavaro Beach, Arena Gorda has soft white sand and tall coconut trees. by the most western hotel on this beach is considered hard rock Hotel & Casino, and the most eastern - Ocean Blue & Sand. The waves near the Hard Rock Hotel are quite high and may seem unsuitable for swimming to some. Personally, I love waves and they don't bother me. As well as my three year old son. The main thing is not to let the children go alone and follow the safety rules. When the waves are very strong, the security service hangs out a red flag and swimming becomes prohibited. But believe me, there are so many pools and other entertainment in Hard Rock that it is not at all fatal and not even sad!

As I said, Hard Rock is located closest to Macau. And if you move from Hard Rock to Punta Cana airport, you can see that the waves are getting smaller and smaller.

Arena Gorda is one of the widest white sand beaches in the entire Dominican Republic. At the same time, it is quite clean, which is confirmed by the presence of " blue flag". For me, the Arena Gorda is loved because the color of the water is amazing here. Unlike the beaches in Bavaro, the water here is really turquoise. I think this is due to the lack of a coral reef that stretches along the Bavaro beach, but does not reach the Arena Gorda.

El Cortecito beach

Only a few tourists know about El Cortecito beach, as it is generally accepted that Arena Gorda beach smoothly merges into Bavaro beach. In fact, between them is El Cortecito. It is divided into two parts: the first part is a hotel area, and the second part is a city beach with bars and souvenir markets. This beach is usually quite crowded. After all, it is located in the very center of Punta Cana and people are constantly walking here, barkers offer excursions, massages and souvenirs. This is also where the locals hang out. But do not think, each hotel has its own piece of the beach and sunbeds. And if the beach is considered accessible to everyone, then only guests can occupy sunbeds. this hotel. If you like to be in the center of the party - you are here. From Cortecito, the easiest way to get into the habitat of the locals, walk to bars, restaurants, shops and nightclubs. Motoconchos (motorbike taxis) ply along Cortecito, which will help save money on transportation. After all, a regular taxi here is not cheap.

El Cortecito is sometimes called the "heart of Bavaro". It is here that foreigners who come to live in Bavaro most often settle. Here they open their business in the form of various tourist services. It is worth noting that El Cortecito beach is subject to erosion, so do not be surprised if you see that in some areas of the beach the ocean washes away shops and restaurants. The color of the water on this beach is greener, there are more algae (in my opinion). But there are objectively fewer waves here than at Arena Gorda.

The famous Barcelo Hotel is located on the beach of Bavaro. Here white sand and calm ocean. True, the water in it sometimes throws algae ashore. But they are carefully cleaned. The presenter of Eagle and Reshka spoke about Bavaro Beach in an issue about the Dominican Republic. He even got into the Barcelo hotel and ate in the dining room :) Well, Two Bananas helped organize the whole thing in accordance with the law :)

Bavaro Beach offers several kilometers of soft white sand, the amazing property of which is that it does not heat up in the sun. And you can freely walk barefoot on this sand at any time of the day.

Despite its popularity, Bavaro Beach still remains untouched, as all hotels take care of its cleanliness and preservation in its original form. For its cleanliness, Bavaro beach was awarded the Blue Flag. In addition, this is one of the safest beaches in the Dominican Republic, as the coastal reef protects it from strong waves. This reef is located close to the shore and is popular with divers and snorkelers.

The city of Bavaro is no longer a simple fishing village like it was 30 years ago. Today it is one of the fastest growing cities in the Dominican Republic, with hospitals, shopping centers, restaurants, banks, pharmacies and other important facilities.

Beautiful sunrises are the highlight of this beach, which is considered a great place to relax with children. There are only a few hotels on Cabeza de Toro, but they are very popular among tourists from Russia. We are talking about hotels Catalonia Bavaro, Bee Liv and Natura Park.

The beach of Cabeza de Toro is known as "the birthplace of the sun", but its name means "Bull's head" (its shape really resembles a bull's head). It is located between the beaches of Bavaro and Cabo Engano, the most eastern point Dominican Republic.

This beach is quite close to the Punta Cana airport, so you can drive to it in just 10-15 minutes. The beach itself is long and narrow, but has many palm trees near the water's edge. The water here is quite calm, the entrance to the water is smooth. Many note the green color of the water at certain times of the year. In my opinion, this is where the Caribbean begins.

Playa Blanca beach (Punta Cana)

It's not very big beach at the Punta Cana Resorts & Club complex, which offers free admission to all comers. Playa Blanca is a small Caribbean paradise known for its tranquility and beauty, as well as the presence of a coral reef that makes it an ideal place for snorkeling and diving.

Playa Banka is located in the gated community of Punta Cana Resort & Club between Club Med and The Westin Punta Cana, just a couple of minutes drive from the airport.

Although, as we said above, anyone can relax on this beach, it is believed that it belongs to the restaurant of the same name. To get to Playa Blanca, you have to pass through an elegant restaurant. Playa Blanca has umbrellas and sun loungers, which are offered free of charge to restaurant customers.

Juanillo beach (Cap Cana)

Juanillo Beach is located in the exclusive area of Cap Cana, in a private area with resort hotels, restaurants and a marina.

The beach has one and only restaurant, Juanillo Beach Food & Drinks, which has been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence. Here you can enjoy international cuisine or sunbathe on the sun loungers.

I don’t know about you, but personally I am very afraid of sharks! And what a blessing that there are no dangerous sharks in Punta Cana. Vegetarian sharks are sometimes found here, for which divers organize a photo hunt. But they don't meet often. And in the water near the hotel you won’t find them at all during the day with fire! So Punta Cana is heaven in every sense! Choose a hotel and a beach to your liking - and go ahead to rest with us! Well, we will make sure that you have a fun and interesting rest!

A selection of photos from the beaches of Punta Cana

The Dominican Republic is located on the glorious island of Haiti, the second largest, which is part of the Antilles group. The first is Cuba and the third Puerto Rico. What is remarkable Haiti is most often called Hispaniola - Hispaniola. The Dominican Republic does not occupy the entire territory of the island, a smaller part of it belongs to the state of Haiti. There are also a couple of neighboring islands of Saona and Catalina, which are part of the Dominican Republic. By the way, they are nothing but national parks offering ecotourism to tourists. Dominican Republic what sea or ocean?

What do we know about her?

Once the Spaniards, and after them the French seized power in the country, after which they began to bring black slaves for hard and exhausting work. Over time, the dark-skinned population mixed with the natives, now mostly mulattoes live in the Dominican Republic. The number of inhabitants is extremely difficult to calculate, since every day illegal immigrants arrive in a sunny country from neighboring Haiti. The most common religion on the island is Catholicism. Of course, it is difficult to surprise a sophisticated tourist with anything, but the Dominican Republic can easily do it. Amazing nature and a large number of representatives of the animal world will not leave anyone indifferent.

The Dominican Republic is a small country. For example, in Turkey, and more specifically in Alanya, if you calculate how many places there are in all hotels, then there will be about 200,000 of them, and in the whole Dominican Republic only about 100,000. Whether this is good or bad for a piece of paradise, everyone can decide for himself. This is another reason why and why you should definitely visit the Dominican Republic. You won't see a lot of tourists here. Nobody will overcharge you for excursions and all kinds of souvenirs. Another plus is that your trip will be truly exclusive. Judge for yourself which of your friends, acquaintances, relatives and friends visited, say, Punta Cana. Dominican Republic, what sea or ocean washes the shores of this country, let's find out.

Punta Cana

The resort of Punta Cana is washed by the Atlantic Ocean. The disadvantage of the ocean coast of the resort is the numerous algae that nail to the beaches. The water here is also a couple of degrees colder than in the Caribbean. A plus can be the realization of a tourist that he is resting on the coast of the ocean. If this does not play a special role for you, then you can choose other Dominican resorts that are washed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea - La Romana, Boca Chica and Juan Dolio.

Punta Cana on the map

Consider the features of the Punta Cana resort

The third part of the places in the hotels is located in Punta Cana. Travel agencies used to rarely sell vouchers to this resort. It is located 150 km. from the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, in the east. Punca Cana, in addition to itself, has three more mini-resorts: the prestigious Cap Cana, the popular Bavaro, and the romantic Uverto Alto. Nearby is La Romana, which is often considered part of Punta Cana. And this is completely wrong, because La Romana is a metropolis, which in size will be larger than Punta Cana.

Punta Cana Airport

The airport (PUJ) bears the same name. It is amazing in its architectural design and quite unusual. There are many at the airport open space, which gives the weary traveler a comfortable pastime in it. Tourists in PUJ do not have to huddle in a fenced and closed room, sometimes without the opportunity to breathe fresh air. It should be noted that in size it is even ahead of the airport located in the capital of the Dominican Republic and is not a state one. The airport in Punta Cana is privately owned by a company called itself “GrupoPuntacana”.

How to choose a hotel in Punta Cana: Beware!

Most of the hotels in Punta Cana are located in the vicinity of the resort. Finding a hotel where you can easily find your way to the city is problematic. This is not Turkey or Tunisia, where one hotel can smoothly flow into another, and the beaches are right next to your location. Here in the Dominican Republic, the coastline can stretch for 500 meters. Hotels are concentrated in groups, both large and small. Restaurant or shop in the area resort holiday almost impossible to find, which is more than compensated by taxi drivers.

Keep in mind that our Punta Cana tour operators name almost everything and can easily sell you a hotel located outside the resort.

When choosing a hotel

Please note that Punta Cana is the main resort place which is closest to the airport. Next, closer to sub goes Cap Cana area. It is so small, only 12 hotels, that it is not uncommon to rank it among Punta Cana. But this area is growing right before our eyes, perhaps when you read this article, there will be an order of magnitude more hotels. To the north is the elite Bavaro. And it is usually referred to as Punta Cana, which again is fundamentally wrong, because the distance between them is 15 kilometers.

Uverto Alto

Further than all the districts is the calm Uverto Alto, also not big. All of the above areas, they are also beaches, are located half an hour from the airport. You can swim in the Atlantic Ocean, the water is clear, the sand is like flour, green palm trees, a light breeze, nature caressing the eye, what else does a vacationer need from the bustle of the city metropolis. By the way, hotels work only according to the all-inclusive system that we all love.

Manati Park

If you come with children, I recommend visiting Manati Park. Here you can swim with dolphins. Watch a colorful performance in which animals participate. Plunge into the world of Indians in a themed village, who dance and sing, although they certainly don’t pull on the indigenous ones, as a rule, they are just mummers. The zoo has a very interesting and varied collection of lizards and colorful parrots. Entrance for half a day for an adult $40, for your child $30.

Golf

You will be surprised, but there are many golf courses in Punta Cana, something around 30. The Russians, of course, are not big fans of this sport. But, nevertheless, if there is a desire, then leave the whole day for this event, because in golf you have to walk more than swing a club, and the distances from one hole to another, oh, how big. By the way, this entertainment in the Dominican Republic is not at all expensive. For the whole day, an adult will pay $100, a child $55.

That's all the entertainment, not counting the nightclubs, which are usually located at the largest hotels. Of course, there is also windsurfing, diving, "banana", parachutes, boats, everything, like everywhere else.

Casino

Yes, and another fun. Casinos are open at large hotels, in which Americans usually hang out. But you should not seriously get involved in the game, so as not to be left without a penny of money on vacation. $50 will be enough to get sharp gambling emotions.

It is better to fly to the Dominican Republic on a package tour, this is the most profitable option. Solo traveler accommodation in a hostel or in a 2-star hotel will cost at least 1500 rubles. day. A meal in a restaurant for one will cost about 300 rubles. With alcohol from 550 rubles. For fast food lovers, a standard set of cola, burger and french fries will cost about 400 rubles. Drink just a cup of coffee from 61 rubles. Ride on public transport, any kind, approximately 205 rubles. one way. By taxi, an average of 1000 rubles. A bottle of beer, for a minute 110 rubles.

Best time to visit beach holiday in Punta Cana, from January to October. Throughout the year the average temperature is 29°C and the water is 27°C.
