The center of Trat is quite compact and although more than 20 thousand people live in this city, the atmosphere here is relaxed and calm in a village way. And even the cries of swifts-salangans broadcast through a tape recorder, which are bred here in abundance for the sake of edible nests, did not cut the ear at all, but gave the evenings a touch of mystery and uniqueness.

In the very center of Trat there is an excellent market, which functions almost constantly, only slightly changing its location. While trade is curtailed in one part of the market, everything is washed, scrubbed, rubbed, then trade flows into the washed part and the one where they just traded is washed. And so every day. Perhaps this is really the cleanest market that I have seen.

There was a lot of all kinds of food at the evening market: seafood on skewers, all kinds of salads, fruits, vegetables, fresh pastries, cookies, dried fruits, sweets, sets of ready meals ... In the city center there are a dozen or so good guesthouses - I don’t want to choose. Most cheap option- Garden Guesthouse, where a simple room with a shared shower costs 120 baht. The fare was 120 baht per person, the travel time was just over an hour, the distance was 100 km. The bus drove almost to the border. Unlike Poipet, there is no stench at the border of Hat Lek, no big garbage carts have been seen here.

It turns out that getting from Pattaya to Sihanoukville is easiest and cheapest by bus. If I had known in advance that there was a Trat-Sihanoukville bus, then we would have gone on it. In this case, there are fewer transfers and costs would also be reduced. It would be possible to get to Trat for 800 baht for two through the company 35 Group Pattaya, and then go by minibus directly to Sihanoukville for 1400 baht for two (transfer with transfers).
