How to get to koh chang from pattaya. How to save money on a hotel or apartment on vacation? Description of destinations and prices

The island of Koh Chang does not have its own airport, but at the same time it is in great demand among tourists from the CIS countries. The distance between Pattaya and Koh Chang is about 260 kilometers. To get to the island, you must first use ground transport and then water. The most popular are trips by bus, minibus or taxi. Each of the options has certain differences in cost, time, and comfort. Therefore, it is worth relying solely on your financial capabilities and preferences.

As in many regions of Thailand, taking a bus from Pattaya to Koh Chang is one of the most budget-friendly travel options. But at the same time, it can cause some difficulties, as it requires several transplants. Initially, you need to get to the bus station in Trat. To take the bus to Trat, you need to get off at highway Sukhumvit where it intersects with Central street. The bus runs twice a day. The first time around 6 am, the second time around 11:30.

Unfortunately, there is no bus station in Pattaya from where it would depart. Since the bus is passing, you have to wait for it at the crossroads. The cost of the road will cost about 200 baht, the time - about 5 hours. Arriving in Trat, you need to transfer to a minibus that runs between the station and the Ao Thammachat pier.

A ferry departs regularly from the pier to Koh Chang. The first flight is at 6:30, the last at 19:00. By sea, the ferry sails for only half an hour, the cost of the crossing is 100 baht. It delivers passengers to either Ao Sapparot Pier or Center Point.

minibus

To get to Koh Chang, or rather to the pier on the mainland, from Pattaya on a minibus will take at least 3.5 hours. The organization of such trips is occupied by travel agencies and transport companies. They sell tickets and provide cars. The big advantage of this method is that minibuses can pick you up directly from the hotel, and you do not need to think in advance how to get to a particular place.

The road will cost 300 baht (without the ferry). This method is also not expensive, but it is much faster than a bus ride. The first minibus leaves at 7 am, then at 9, 11 and 13 hours. When purchasing a ticket, you can also arrange for a car to take you directly to your hotel on Koh Chang. The cost of such a one-way trip will be approximately 550 baht. You can buy a ticket at any travel agency or at the office of 35 Group Pattaya, which is located on Pattaya Tai Street.

Taxi

by the most in a comfortable way trips to Koh Chang will be a taxi. But at the same time it is one of the most expensive options. Since the road to the pier will have to pay from 3 to 5 thousand baht. The trip will take 3-4 hours. You can catch a taxi right on the street, all cars are usually bright in color. In this case, the cost of the trip must be agreed in advance. Do not be afraid to bargain, as the initial price is often very high.

More convenient option- order a taxi via the Internet on the site. There is no need to agree on anything here, since such companies usually have fixed rates, or they go by the meter. This method of ordering is also convenient for those who do not speak English, since you will not communicate directly with the driver. Companies offer different options for cars. If you are planning a trip big group, then you can order a minivan, the cost of which will not differ much from a passenger car.

piers

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that no matter which way you choose to travel to Koh Chang, almost all transport delivers its passengers to the piers from which the ferry leaves for the island. The most popular is Ao Thammachat Pier. Here, ferries run every half an hour, while the crossing can be made even with a bike or car. Disembarkation of passengers takes place at the pier Ao Sapparot of Koh Chang. Travel time is 25 minutes.

The closest to Trat is the Center Point Pier, so most of tuk-tuks from the bus station or airport deliver passengers exactly here. Here, the interval between ferries is 1 hour, and the cost of a one-way trip is 80 baht. Children travel free of charge. There is also a crossing with cars and motorbikes. Disembarkation of passengers takes place at the pier of the same name on the island of Koh Chang.

Koh Chang is the third largest island in Thailand. After Phuket and Koh Samui.
A sufficient number of Russians choose it for wintering. Why dont know. In my opinion, life on the island is hard and boring, but this is a matter of taste, of course.
The island of Koh Chang attracted me because you can get there from Pattaya by car, crossing by ferry. On the closest to Pattaya, the island of Koh Samet, unfortunately,
you can't come by car.

From Pattaya to Koh Chang by car

From Pattaya to Koh Chang by car is only 350 km.

If you don’t have a car or desire to drive it, it’s easy to leave by taking an all-inclusive excursion to Koh Chang.
I included it in my top 20 list. tours of Pattaya , so if you need contacts of a proven and reliable tour agency, with whom we have been traveling for several years and recommend to friends and readers, write in the comments - I will send it by mail.

We left the house early in the morning and arrived on the island of Koh Chang for dinner.
Since little Dasha was with us (she was only 1.4g at that time), the road did not seem to me fast and cloudless.
Really, it takes 4-5 hours to get there, not counting ferry crossing. Koh Chang is about 350 km from Pattaya.

Ferry to Koh Chang

The ferry crossing to Koh Chang is located near the city of Trat. It is impossible to get lost, there are signs all along the road that will lead you to the right place.
Pierce 2:
Koh Chang Ferry Pier at Ao Thammachart Ferry Fee per Person 80 baht and 120 both ways and 200 baht for the car.
Ferries run every hour from 6 to 19:00 and until 21:00 on weekends.
Center Point Ferry Pier is the same, only the car is free.
On the way, about 40-50 minutes, which fly by unnoticed, as there is a mini-cafe with coffee and drinks on the second floor.
The crossing seemed to me sensible, although rather long. First you buy a ticket for the car and passengers, then you get in line.
Port employees line up the cars in rows and, in turn, help to load onto the ferry.
Of course, we were “lucky”, our car did not fit into the ferry and we had to wait for the next one.
Ferries from Trat run every half an hour, contrary to the information on the Internet. Although, perhaps this is because our trip fell on the weekend.

At the exit from the ferry to Koh Chang, you will be offered tuk tuks to all the beaches of the island. Cost from 50 baht per person to the nearest - white sands beach, up to 120 baht
for the road to the very end of the beaches of Koh Chang, fishing village Bang Bao.
The road to Koh Chang does not close in a ring.

What is Koh Chang like?

For some reason, every time I expect something special from the islands, I don’t know why. In reality, at least Koh Lan, even Koh Chang with Samet, differ from each other only in terms of area and number of people.
Of course, let's not exaggerate, there is almost nothing to see on Koh Lan, and on Koh Chang there are elephants and waterfalls with jungles, but in general, it's all the same for an ordinary tourist who came to "beach" in the sun. If you want to more privacy and Asian flavor with an atmosphere, then do not be too lazy to go to the nearest island to Koh Chang, Koh Kood. This is where heaven really is.

The island is also an island in Thailand, with all the consequences, somehow: prices are higher for everything at times, with medicine so-so, in difficult situation need to move to the nearest
Spending Standing in line for the ferry is also a dubious pleasure.

Going for the weekend, changing the scenery is ok, but to live, well, no, perhaps.

On the Internet, it is customary to describe your trips to the islands as heavenly and unforgettable, omitting some household and other shortcomings as not significant.
This is of course my subjective objectivity, but what can you do, everyone has the right to their own point of view.

All the Beaches of Koh Chang - which one to choose?

The choice of the beach on Koh Chang was closely related to the hotel. I needed the first coastline to keep the beach clean and reasonable prices.
With the sanity of prices for hotels on the islands, in principle, everything is bad. The choice is small - the competition is sufficient, the price for which you can rent a room in Pattaya or Bangkoe is very good hotel,
on Koh Chang it will be barely 3 stars and the rating of vacationers, God forbid, at 6.7 points.

There are several beaches, the most popular - White Sand beach, was immediately rejected by me as a beach with too many people. Packs of package tourists are brought there and I wanted a more secluded place.
Although, upon arrival, it turned out that White Sand beach is not as bad as it is painted. There are all sorts of hangouts and parties.

There are a lot of hotels along White Sand beach. You can walk along the shore and choose the one you like.

Where to stay on Koh Chang

If you arrived on Koh Chang on your own, you will probably want to rent a bike. Despite my not a little driving experience, I would not ride Koh Chang.
A narrow serpentine crumbling with small pebbles does not cause a great desire to sit behind the wheel of a bike. Very often they get into accidents there, of course there are no rights, all these are sad stories.
What to do? Take a car or tuk tuk.

To get started, look at hotels, choose a beach, read reviews, and narrow down your search. Decide what you want - walk a lot, look around,
go on an excursion or just lie on the beach.
What are you going for? For a family or romantic getaway or to hang out?
If you are a party youth, then on Klong Prao you will be bored and quiet. There, after sunset, everyone goes to bed :)

We didn't plan to go far, so I combed Klong Prao up and down and finally chose hotel — Magic Resort.
Returning to the conversation about savings, it’s a pity that at that moment I couldn’t find it at all in any booking system,
but Rum Guru has it and is almost two times cheaper than we rented on the spot (!!). On Rumguru, the price of the room-house in which we lived on the same dates, in total $36 .
I think it's very good option for the money and corresponds to what I wanted. My husband does not agree with me, so as you can see, how many people, so many opinions.
Of the benefits - a good clean beach, a good cafe right on the pier nearby, unobtrusive staff, there is where to park the car, silence, peace, it's great for the child.
Of the minuses - everything is shabby and the amenities are not for the pampered and faint of heart, everything is very, very simple. Everything is old but working. I don't really care, I went for the beach and silence, so
everything suited me.

We looked at Klong Prao Resort, there were a couple of options and at a price of 4000 per room.
Then we walked towards Amari. I can't remember the name of the hotel, which is connected to Amari, but I was shocked that there were only rooms on the first floor, overlooking the
staff kitchen, from which he sipped garbage and at a price above $ 100 for a room no more than 15 meters.

I began to get upset that I would not find anything decent and not expensive.
Walking along the beach past Amari, we came across the Magic Resort and decided to stay there.
For 100 dollars we rented 2 rooms (one house with two rooms) right on the seashore. Each house was designed for 4 people.

Magic Resort Koh Chang - pros and cons

Let's talk about the good first.
Great, great location. Magic Resort is located on the very shore, and it is very fortunate that it is at the end of the bay, behind it there is only one tiny hotel and then, further, on the rocks.
That is, at your disposal is a huge piece of the beach, on which there is no one but three crippled guests of the Magic Resort.
It was not very clear to me why there were so few people on the beach, since I counted at least 25 houses and they were all busy. And on the beach sunbathing only we and a couple of other people.

Nice, clean beach, shallow entrance, ideal for children, lots of greenery.

Magic Resort Cafe - located on the pier, that is, breakfast and lunch with dinner are very authentic, right in the sea and with views on all sides.

Price - compared to other offers, for 4 local number, seemed to me just unheard of generosity.

Well, now let's move on to the cons.

Staff is an unfriendly administrator, as in Soviet Union. From English to you.

Breakfast - you choose from the menu, and it's almost terrible. We got out, because we had 8 coupons for breakfast for 5 people, so we could at least choose something.

The whole room is two double beds (we had a room for four)) and a shower with a toilet.
Rooms ushatanye and not even the third freshness. But the worst thing is that mosquitoes are not translated in the room, as in all of Koh Chang.

Of course, we were not lucky. Before going to bed, I smeared Dasha entirely with mosquito repellent lotion, only the eyelids were not smeared, where the mosquito bit her.

In the morning, the child's eye almost did not open, I had to go to the Bangkok Koh Chang hospital under insurance. Where we waited an hour and a half, although there was no one except us,
the doctor examined the minute and prescribed antihistamines and ointment. Helped right away.

Then, we were “forgotten” to return the passport, although the insurance company (Reso) had already confirmed the payment. When the husband returned for a passport, the Russian employee doused him with
with a tub of mats, that if it were not for the ferry, they would gladly roll a complaint against her. Just rude and pig.

With all this, do not forget to buy travel insurance abroad. It doesn’t cost that much, for a short period of time it’s a penny, but it will save you a fabulous amount of money and nerves.
I constantly keep my finger on the pulse, insurances often change, new ones are added, old ones disappear. On this moment most the best option insurance abroad, this is definitely ERV, with coverage
from 50,000 dollars. In second place is Zetta, but in general it depends on your needs.
. It’s the cheapest there and the employees will always answer all questions, help solve problems if they arise and can even push through (and push through)
insurance companies, when they begin to kick back from paying large amounts of payments.
Thailand is the most unprofitable direction for insurance companies, because they apply very often. For the same reason, insurance is a must!

Not a minus, but for your information, Magic Resort does not have a pool. Who needs him there, of course, but suddenly.

We stayed there for two nights and personally I liked the trip.
In the evening, quiet pleasant music played, the surf roared and after putting the children to bed, we chatted in the dark, enjoying the salty air of this beautiful island.

I was surprised which Thais are Thais. Apart from us, no one expressed a desire to have dinner in a cafe on the pier, and so, we arrived at 10:00 pm, it turned out that
they no longer work. Rather, it was 20 minutes before closing, zero people, and when asked if they would work, they said no. And really, why?

Well, it doesn't matter. We had a great time on the open veranda on Amari beach. Highly recommend the restaurant on the beach. Prices certainly do not please, but very tasty.
Probably the only place where everything we ordered was delicious. Very interesting and not banal selection of dishes, excellent cocktails.
If you want a romantic dinner, this is the place. They work until late.

What to see on Koh Chang?

We stayed just about anything and, in principle, did not plan trips to the waterfalls and the jungle.
We saw elephants, fed them (you can still ride) and went to view point.

Elephants are not difficult to find, the farm is opposite the hotel Centara.

WITH observation deck don't miss it either, it's behind Klong Prao beach. It's hard to get lost when there's only one road.

Dasha's eye spoiled the impression of the rest, I honestly panicked, and immediately thought - as possible with small children
live on the islands? If so, you won't get anywhere! There is no intensive care unit in the hospital and one and a half doctors wander around, whose competence can be doubted.
Severe patients are being transported by helicopter to Trat. Will insurance pay for it? question.

Yes, the prices are also delivered. For examination and penny medicines they billed 5000 baht! Five thousand! For a therapist!
The husband shrugged his shoulders and said — Kat! Well, do they need something to live on? There are no people, so the prices are twisting, what to do.

If in general, then I liked the trip to Koh Chang, like almost all trips. The feeling of the road, the choice of the hotel, the joy of the sea and the sun, new places -
all this is great and what people are going on the road for.
But, probably, we are unlikely to go soon again to the island of Koh Chang. Samet, which is closest to us, is no less picturesque and does not require a 4-hour drive.
Also, I want to go to new places. But if you are in doubt whether to go to Koh Chang or not, of course go!

How to save money on a hotel or apartment on vacation?

I'm looking on the Rumguru website. It contains absolutely all discounts on hotels and apartments from 30 booking systems, including booking. Often I find very profitable options, it turns out to save from 30 to 80%

How to save on insurance?

You need insurance abroad. Any admission is very expensive and the only way not to pay out of pocket is to choose an insurance policy in advance. For many years we have been making out on the site that give the best prices It takes only a couple of minutes for insurance and selection along with registration.

I recently posted detailed description In addition, and now I want to write separately about the transfer from Pattaya. If you didn’t read the link above, then let me remind you that Koh Chang is an island, so you first need to go to it by land, then take a ferry, and on the island itself go on the route to the required beach. What Pattaya wins over Bangkok is that it is full of transfers to Koh Chang.

There are 3 ways to get to Koh Chang from Pattaya: by transfer, on your own by bus and by taxi. For reference, the distance between Pattaya and Koh Chang is about 270 km.

Group transfer by minibus

This method is the easiest and most convenient for those without a car. And, to be honest, I wouldn’t consider others, I don’t see much point in saving an extra 100 rubles. So what's so great about transfer? It is also sometimes called a tour, they say. tour pattaya— Ko Chang. And it is good that you will be taken from hotel to hotel, that is, from a hotel in Pattaya to a hotel on Koh Chang. Moreover, you can immediately buy and return ticket and it really is a tour to succeed. You can buy a transfer at any travel agency. You will be offered a price tag of 600-900 baht one way, including a ferry ticket.

As a rule, all local travel agencies sell the services of several transport companies, so there is not much difference where to buy. You can also buy via the Internet, the same will work.

Payment by bank card or PayPal, electronic ticket, very convenient.

One of the companies, 35 Pattaya Group

The lowest price tag is offered by 35 Group Pattaya. I indicated their office on the map, it is located on Pattaya Tai Street (South Pattaya). The only thing is that for this you will need to go to their office, intermediaries will sell their tickets more expensive.

The minibus will cost 400 baht, including a ferry ticket, one way to the Koh Chang Ferry Pier. A ticket to the hotel on Koh Chang costs 550 baht one way, including the ferry ticket.
The minibus runs 3 times a day: 7:00, 9:00, 13:00.
Travel time is 3-4 hours to the pier, and then what happens with the ferry.

You need to buy tickets in advance, at least a day in advance, otherwise there may not be places. You can also go to other places on 35 Group Pattaya. In addition, Koh Chang is taken to Samet, Koh Wai, Koh Mak and Koh Kood.

If you are going to return to Pattaya from Chang later, then buy a return ticket right away, it will open date(you will need to warn about two days before returning), because there is no office of 35 Group Pattaya on Koh Chang island, it is located near the Koh Chang Ferry Pier on the mainland, and it is not a fact that there will be places. Accordingly, if you do not buy a return ticket in advance, then you will have to buy transfers on the island at local travel agencies at a higher price.

Prices for transfer Pattaya— Koh Chang and back

Taxi Pattaya - Koh Chang

The most expensive option. I think everyone knows how to take a taxi and there is no need to explain anything. Go outside and look for a car. Alternatively, order private transfer in any travel agency. The cost is somewhere around 3000-4000 baht per car, if you go to the pier. Travel time is 3-4 hours.

Another taxi option is - (ferry included), which can be booked in advance online. The car will be entirely yours, without other passengers. It’s convenient that there are no problems, you don’t even need to leave the house. For the price, this is especially advantageous if you are more than 4 people. Then the sum will be divided among all. It costs as much as a taxi caught on the street.

Car rental

My favorite option. IN Lately I always and everywhere take the car. Don't depend on anything absolute freedom. Given that car rental in Thailand is inexpensive, it is available to everyone.

You need to rent a car through, then the price will be approximately 2 times lower than directly. This is an intermediary broker that issues offers from all international distributors. That is, no small companies and individuals who can then throw.

On Koh Chang, although the roads are narrow in places, it is quite convenient to drive there in a small car, such as a Honda Jazz or Toyota Vios. I traveled all over the island for 2 weeks and no problem.

Bus Pattaya - Koh Chang

The most budgetary way, more complex and not suitable for everyone. Its essence boils down to the fact that you need to take a bus from Pattaya to the bus station in Trat, transfer there to a minibus that goes to the pier, then take a ferry and swim to the island, take a minibus on the pier of the island and get to the desired beach.

How to get from Trat to the pier and how to get around on the island of Koh Chang, I have already written in a general article. And I described everything about ferries in the article. So it remains to tell how to get to Trat from Pattaya.

You need to go to the Sukhumvit highway at the intersection with Central Street and catch a bus there. It is advisable to ask the locals what they are sitting in the offices bus companies or at motosai, where it is better to do it and when the bus will be. They'll help bring him down. There is no bus station from where he goes, he goes a couple of times a day, around 6:00 and around 11:30. He is a regular and picks up everyone along the way. Travel time is 5 hours, ticket price is about 180 baht.

Also on this bus you can not reach Trat and get off along the road. There is a desk there on the highway, from which minibuses go to the pier. But IMHO it will be difficult for beginners to do this.

Life hack 1 - how to buy good insurance

It is unrealistically difficult to choose insurance now, therefore, to help all travelers, I am compiling a rating. To do this, I constantly monitor forums, study insurance contracts I use insurance myself.

Life hack 2 - how to find a hotel for 20% cheaper

Thank you for reading

Koh Chang is wonderful. This is one of the most picturesque and big islands Thailand.

However, to enjoy this island, it is not enough to come here with organized tour for one night, because all you really see is a 6-8 hour drive, several attractions (waterfalls and temples), the hotel is not really best beach and not even the best dinner.

The first time I got to Koh Chang was with an organized tour: at 6 am we were picked up from the hotel, at 4 pm we were on the island. It was a very tiring excursion, although an interesting one. We were brought to the Erawan waterfall (here you could swim with carps. The water, by the way, is icy)

To the temple on Monkey Mountain. The temple is beautiful and big. Monkeys are hungry and angry. Especially large ones. One even attacked my friend and bit her on the finger (my friend is alive) because out of ignorance she went to the monkeys cheerfully waving a bag of food (monkey food is sold nearby in a shop).

In general, don't wave your food in front of hungry monkeys. It is fraught.

Despite interesting and educational excursions, almost 10 hours on the road is a very, very long time. Especially if you have to spend only a night on the island and the next morning it’s time to start on the way back, albeit with a stop at the beautiful Koh Wai.

The most correct thing is to organize a train to the island yourself.

    It is not difficult.

There are many hotels on Koh Chang, you can choose any, depending on your financial capabilities. Most of them are presented on booking.com , [link] or on the website [link]

Arranging a transfer is also not difficult, you can order from [link]

or in any of transport agencies, of which there are a great many throughout Pattaya or Bangkok. And from Suvarnabhumi airport the bus is running.

We usually stay at some hotel in Pattaya, live there for a couple of days, and then order a transfer and leave for Koh Chang.

The transfer is a small minibus that arrives at the agreed time at the hotel and takes one stop to the ferry.

The stop is a small road complex - a couple of shops, a restaurant, a toilet, a parking lot. Even organized tours stop here.

The toilet is very picturesque, it is impossible not to show it. It is very clean (they even ask you to take off your shoes and put on "duty" slippers) and free (a modest tip jar is on the tables near the entrance)

On the ferry, everyone gets out of the cars. People go to upper deck, buses and cars at the bottom. Bags with valuable things better pick up (recommended by all the drivers and guides we traveled with).

There is a shop on the ferry. You can buy necks, ice cream, something to eat.

When ordering a transfer, be careful. Sometimes cheaper you can buy delivery only to the ferry. Further on the island you will have to move on your own. We usually buy delivery directly to the hotel. It costs a little more, but saves you the hassle of finding a tuk-tuk near the ferry. You are unlikely to reach the beach you need on foot. Those. Of course, if you set a goal, you will reach it, but still Koh Chang is one of the largest islands and it will be very tiring.

Besides being on Koh Chang beautiful beaches there are also many excursions that you must visit.

I liked the tours the most. coral islands and bathing on elephants.

Before the excursion to the coral islands, you are picked up by a transfer (usually an open songthaew) and taken to one of the piers.

This is the crankcase we sailed on.

they show us the route (probably in case we get lost, we knew which way to swim back)

During the trip, the boat stopped periodically and we snorkeled. There really is something to see. Corals and fish are almost more beautiful than those that can be seen in the Red Sea.

The funniest thing is organized groups the Chinese - they swim like a "train" - holding on to each other's vests.

For lunch they land on one of the islands. Lunch is meager - rice with vegetables, bread, tea / coffee, fruit - but it is quite enough.

The tour takes approx. 4 hours. Then everyone is taken to the hotels.

Bathing on elephants made an indelible impression on me. Until now, my friend and I do not understand how we decided to climb into the dirty muddy water along with a crowd of elephants. But we got a lot of vivid emotions (it’s good that only emotions and no infection - I probably won’t dare to repeat it)

It all starts simply with an elephant ride through the jungle. The walk is generally ordinary (I have already ridden several times in other places), the only thing they ask is to take off your shoes

And then they bring a muddy and shallow stream to the shore, everyone undresses to their swimsuits and, sitting on the necks of the elephants, goes to the middle, where the elephants, under the supervision of the mahouts, begin to frolic - they pour water over those who sit on their necks, try to throw them into the water or dive under them themselves. water along with the rider.

An amazing adventure, but I won’t repeat it for sure I won’t dare already

In the evenings most coastal hotels bring tables to shore. Somewhere there is live music, and somewhere there is a fire show, and somewhere you can just lie on the sunbeds and smoke a hookah. The perfect end to a hot and busy day.

Hello friends. Today I will tell you how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang on your own. A few words about Pattaya. It is a big bustling city with thousands of tourists scurrying around. We don’t understand how it is possible to relax in this city, but this is our opinion.

We specifically stopped by to see what it was and realized that we didn’t want to rest here at all. But the shopping here is good.

After such a fuss and noise, many tourists begin to dream of silence, clean beaches With clear water and quieter entertainment. That's when you can go to the island of Koh Chang, which is located 270 km from Pattaya.

We had enough and two days for sightseeing and shopping. Next - planned on the island of Koh Chang. If you also want to change the noisy city for sunny island and leave Pattaya, now I will tell you how to do it.

Transfer from Pattaya to Koh Chang

The distance from Pattaya to Koh Chang is 270 km - it takes about 4 hours to drive, so this option is the most convenient and comfortable, although not the most budgetary. I think many will agree with me that it is better to pay extra 100 rubles and drive in comfort than to save money and spend extra time on the road. It's better to spend an extra hour on the beach.

A transfer to Koh Chang (otherwise the Thais call it a tour) can be found anywhere in Pattaya. You will meet offices with offers on the streets of the city and in hotels. A comfortable minibus will pick you up from your hotel and take you to right place. On the way, the minibus makes several stops where you can have a bite to eat and stretch your legs. Travel time is about 4 hours. The most famous tour agency Pattaya-Ko-Chang-Pattaya 35 Group Pattaya.

There are several transfer options to Koh Chang (prices per person). Prices and schedules are taken from 35 Group Pattaya. Other companies have similar prices:

    1. Pattaya - ferry Ferry Pier to = Koh Chang (ferry included) one way = 400 baht
    2. Pattaya - Ferry Pier ferry to Koh Chang (ferry included) both ways = 720 baht
    3. Pattaya - hotel on Koh Chang (ferry included) one way = 550 baht
    4. Pattaya - hotel on Koh Chang (ferry included) round trip = 1050 baht

Minibuses go to Koh Chang 3 times a day at 07:00 and 09:00 in the morning and at 13:00. From Koh Chang to Pattaya at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.

There are transfer options where you are taken only to the mainland pier. In this case, then you will need to buy a ferry ticket on your own and take a songteo (local taxi) on the island at the pier, which for additional fee will take you to the beach and hotel. Read more about Koh Chang piers and songteo prices. Read about the beaches of Koh Chang.

I recommend buying tickets at once in both directions. This will save some money and time. If you are not sure about the return date, you can buy a return ticket with an open date (open ticket). When you know exactly the day of departure, call the office (at least two days in advance) where you bought the ticket and tell the date of the return trip. You will be booked a seat in the minibus. The office does not speak Russian, so the option for those who know English language (on the most basic level).

Friends, now we are in Telegram: our channel about Europe, our channel about Asia. Welcome)

    Taxi Pattaya Koh Chang

The option is not budgetary, but the most expensive possible and the fastest in time. If comfort is above all for you, then this is your option. The cost of the trip will be approximately 3000 baht. But this is only up to the pier on the mainland. Travel time 3.5-4 hours.

    Transfer to Koh Chang

This option is cheaper than a taxi.

You can order a transfer to Koh Chang by this link or online via the form below. At the time of booking, you need to pay about 15% of the transfer cost, pay the rest in cash to the driver.

How to save on a taxi? Payment is per car, not per person, so if there are 3-4 of you or more people in the car, then the cost of the transfer is distributed to everyone and becomes pleasant.

    Bus to Koh Chang

Most a budget option but less comfortable. You can take a bus in Pattaya and get to Koh Chang. The route of this bus runs along the Sukhumvit highway.

What is the inconvenience. The bus runs only 1 time per day (departs from). He arrives in Pattaya at about 6 am; to the stop where the Sukhumvit highway intersects with the Central Street of the city.

In the best case: the bus will drop you off at the pier.

    Other options:

    • drop off on the highway near the pier (you will need to take a songteo to the pier)
    • will take you to the bus station of the city of Trat (you will need to take a songteo to the pier).

The price of a bus ticket will be 2 times cheaper than the cost of a transfer (about 170 baht). But other than that, you will need to pay separately for the songteo.

From the highway to the pier 30-40 baht

From Trat bus station to the pier 70-80 baht

Add the ferry fare: 90 baht, plus songteo from Koh Chang pier to the beach (from 50 baht).

In total, at least 400 baht per person will come out.

Of course, in this case you will be able to get acquainted with how the local people live, how they interact and communicate with each other, how their bus stations are arranged and well-equipped.

Of these methods, we chose 1 - we booked a transfer through a travel agency, deciding that it was better to spend 400-500 baht, but get to the island in comfort.
