Chaweng Beach is one of the main beaches on Koh Samui. The main entertainment and nightlife of the island are concentrated here, and the beach itself is one of the most beautiful places not only on Koh Samui, but throughout the region.

Chaweng Beach on the map

general information

Chaweng- the largest of the beaches of Koh Samui, stretching for five kilometers along the east coast of the island. Usually Chaweng Beach is conditionally divided into four parts: northern, central, southern Chaweng and Chaweng Noi (Chaweng Noi) - a small corner at the southern end of the beach.

The central part is considered the most crowded and noisy, while the northern and southern parts are more conducive to a relaxing beach holiday. Attractions in Chaweng are practically absent, but there are various entertainment and activity - it will not be boring.

A strip of coconut palms stretches along Chaweng, in the shade of which you can take a break from the sun. The sand on the beach is fine and amazingly white, and the water is emerald blue. The temperature in the bay, as a rule, is kept at the level of 25-28 degrees.

The bottom is soft and sandy, without algae and stones. Sunbeds can be rented. From time to time you can see planes taking off and landing at Koh Samui airport.

The island offers stunning views of the sea, two islands are visible near the reef, which is easy to reach at low tide. On a wide strip of white sand you can make excellent photos. Thai merchants constantly walk along the beach, where you can buy drinks, fruits or local food.

Along the beach from south to north stretches highway, on the sides of which there are numerous hotels, bars and restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies and clothing stores.

How to get to Chaweng Beach

Chaweng beach located slightly southeast Koh Samui airport(USM). There are several ways to get to the beach from the airport.

If you order a taxi at the information desk at the airport, you will have to pay 400 baht, but if you try to negotiate with taxi drivers on the street, the price can be brought down to 200 baht. Counters on Koh Samui are almost never used, so negotiate the price before the trip.

There are also minivans that usually leave when there are at least 5 passengers; the price of the trip is 120 baht.

The video below shows an information desk where you can order a taxi, as well as a parking lot for minivans.

Many hotels on Chaweng Beach provide shuttle services. Usually it costs about 300 baht, but some hotels charge more - about 400 baht.

In addition, you can negotiate with taxi drivers on bikes. In this case, you simply sit on the bike behind the driver and drive to the hotel. The bike will cost you 30-150 baht, depending on the distance.

If you have not yet reached Koh Samui, refer to the article.

Hotels on Chaweng Beach

Chaweng Beach is the largest and most populated Koh Samui beach. For this reason, here you can find hotels and guesthouses for every taste. Nearly all coastline, the price range is quite large (the cost of living decreases with distance from the sea).

Northern part Chaweng is more suitable for family vacation with a child, since the entrance is gentle and the sea is shallow at first - perfect place for children's games in the water. Central and South part deeper, it is here that all the "movement" is concentrated - jet skis, "bananas", kayak boats.

The coast is wide - there is a place where to turn around and sunbathe. Although there are a lot of people, but not as much as on the beaches or. There are sun loungers and parasols belonging to hotels located on the beach.

After sunset, Chaweng Beach is quiet and quiet place there are almost no people. Slow music flows from coastal restaurants and bars. Some put sunbeds and tables right on the sand, so you can dine to the sound of the surf and the refreshing breeze (however, in some seasons of the year, mosquitoes become a little annoying and constantly squeak something above your ear).

Immediately behind the hotels located on the 1st line of Chaweng, there is a road on which there are restaurants, bars and shops. If you delve a little further, you will see big lake. Nobody swims in it, and there is nowhere to sunbathe there (the coast is not sandy), but you can sit in the evenings and admire the water surface. There is a boxing stadium near the lake and Night market where you can eat well, buy souvenirs and clothes.

You can often read on the Internet that Chaweng Beach on Koh Samui is suitable only for party lovers, nightlife and noisy discos. This is not entirely true. If your hotel is located in the bar area, then indeed, music can be heard at midnight. But if you move a little away from the party area, then it will be quieter and calmer there, and nothing will prevent you and your children from sleeping peacefully at night. In general, you need to understand that Chaweng is not in Pattaya and not in Phuket, there are fewer of them: bars, music, and “adult” entertainment.

Slightly north of Chaweng, on main road there are the largest on the island - Tesco Lotus, Big C and Macro. You can buy almost everything there and very cheap. Well, if you don’t want to go to them, then a couple of minutes from the sea in 2014 they built a huge shopping mall.

There are also several hospitals in the vicinity of the beach. The main ones are located on the Main Road, close to Big C and Tesco Lotus.

How to get to Chaweng

From Nathon Pier

Most ferries arrive at, which is the main one on Koh Samui. You can get from there to Chaweng by songteo or taxi.

1.Songteo.

This option is only suitable for those who travel without suitcases and provided that the hotel is located next to the road on which the transport goes. Songteos stand right on the pier, some say Nathon - Chaweng (go through the north of the island), others Chaweng - Lamai (go through the south). You, of course, need the first one. The fare costs 60 baht per person, although some drivers try to rip off 100 baht from tourists. Tell him it'll cost 60.

It takes about half an hour to drive to Chaweng, but it should be borne in mind that he will leave only when he has enough full salon. Songteo does not deliver to hotels, it just stops on the highway near the beach. From there you will have to get to the hotel yourself and this can take a long time, given that the beach is very large. Thus, if you are on Koh Samui for the first time, and besides, with suitcases and children, it is better to use a taxi.

2. Taxi.

Recently, air-conditioned cars go to Koh Samui, the same as in Bangkok. True, the drivers do not turn on the meters, so the price is negotiable. To Chaweng they ask from 1000 baht. But this cost is for the whole car, and not per person, that is, if there are four of you, then 250 baht each. Agree, this is inexpensive, considering that this transport is much more comfortable than songteo. Cars are air-conditioned and take only 20 minutes to get to the hotel. You do not have to wait until there are other passengers. In general, some pluses.

From Raja Ferry Pier (Lipa Noi)

This cargo pier is mainly used for transporting vehicles from the mainland. Don't come here best idea For budget travelers. Public songthaews that are available in Nathon do not go here.

You can only leave by taxi. They are presented here in the form of tuk-tuks and air-conditioned cars. Some drivers offer to save money by teaming up with other fellow travelers. It takes about half an hour to drive, since this pier is located further than Nathon.

From airport

You can get to Chaweng from a minivan or taxi. It is also possible to rent a car.

1. Minivans.

These are minibuses that go on filling. Tickets can be purchased upon arrival. The fare to Chaweng is 130 baht, to Lamai is 170 baht.

2. Taxi.

At the airport, taxis come in the form of tuk-tuks and air-conditioned cars (2 times more expensive). Depending on the location of your hotel, you can get there in 10-15 minutes.

But there is another better option - this. They will meet you with a sign, help you carry your suitcases and will already know the exact location of the hotel. In half an hour you will be splashing in the sea. By the way, you can choose a car of a prestigious class or for a large company. If you are traveling with children, do not forget to indicate the need for child seats.

Chaweng Beach historically and rightfully bears the title of the most tourist beach on Koh Samui. And it is no coincidence: almost 5 kilometers of white fine sand, a very pleasant sloping entrance to the water, the absence of stones at the bottom, make this beach very attractive for relaxing and swimming.

Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui

The beach is on the east coast and even in the midst of high season(December-March) when they blow east winds and on the sea the wave is good choice for relax. The waves do not interfere, but even diversify swimming, it is pleasant to swing on them. But most often the excitement is quite moderate and does not bother at all. From spring to October, the sea calms down and very often it is like a lake, completely without waves. The water is clear, blue and amazingly beautiful.

Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui

All this led to the rapid development of the tourism industry in the Chaweng area. There are most hotels, restaurants, bars, here are quite compactly located nightclubs. I must say that the rest on Koh Samui is generally very calm and quiet. So if you really need youth recreation, discos, night bars and entertainment, then wherever you live, your path will still lie on Chaweng. In other areas, nightlife either does not exist at all, or it is extremely poorly developed. Only Lamai Beach can be considered an exception, but even there the scale is much more modest. This should be taken into account when choosing and planning a vacation spot.

Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui

Of course, you can live on neighboring beaches, but night taxi rides have a very noticeable effect on the wallet, and inexpensive tuk-tuks run only during the day. Therefore, there are especially many foreign youth in Chaweng. However, here you can find a place to relax for every taste and age. I would recommend choosing hotels along beach line from shopping center Central Festival(near Chaweng Lake) and below. Above this line, the sea becomes quite shallow, and on the beach street it will already be close to nightclubs, and therefore quite noisy at night.
Lake Chaweng itself is unsuitable for swimming (shallow and the water is muddy and muddy), but it has a promenade convenient for walking. In that part of the coast, where it seems to enter the center of the lake, there are many night bars, as well as the Reggae Pub club. During the day, you can have fun with bungee jumping.

Lake Chaweng, Koh Samui

The reverse side of the popularity of the beach is its crowdedness and relative high cost. The beach street, running along the sea behind the first line hotels, is replete with shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, including several with live music.

BBQ restaurant

It is not difficult to find a place where you can taste a wide variety of seafood, or visit a BBQ restaurant where they cook a whole pig. Prices in such restaurants, of course, are higher than in similar ones, but located further from popular places. However, on the beach-road there are enough traditional Thai cafes and restaurants with quite affordable prices.

seafood restaurant

Below Chaweng Beach is a relatively small but very pleasant Chaweng Noi beach (that is, Chaweng-small). There are 4 * and 5 * hotels on it, the audience is calm and respectable, and in general there are fewer and quieter people on the beach, there are not so many beach vendors as in the central part of Chaweng.

Chaweng Noi Beach, Koh Samui

It will be farther from here on foot to places of night entertainment, but it is quite possible to walk in 30-35 minutes, that is, it is really possible to do without transport. Therefore, if you are looking for decent hotels, calm beach with excellent sea and sand, I advise you to pay attention to Chaweng Noi.

Chaweng Noi Beach, Koh Samui

In general, the Chaweng area is quite large and it is quite difficult to get around it on foot. By and large, this is a triangle formed by the ring road from Chaweng Noi to the Tesco Lotus supermarket, the road from Tesco to the beach, passing above the lake, and Chaweng Noi beach itself.

Previously, in order to make purchases, one had to travel from beach hotels to Tesco by transport, on foot it took too much time and effort. But now, with the advent of the new Central Festival shopping center, it has become much better and more convenient. It is located between the lake and the beach street, and now it has become much more convenient to get to shops, banks, cafes located in Central.

Map of Chaweng area

Summary: if your vacation lasts up to two weeks, if you like not only the sea, but also walk and dance, if you are interested in shops, restaurants and seafood, then I recommend Chaweng Beach. However, choose a hotel based on good reviews, as well as some distance from nightclubs. On the map, this is the area between Starz Cabaret and Central Festival.

In the rainy season we went to royal island Koh Samui in Thailand, we went for a short time and during my birthday, so we didn’t save money. We chose the best, in our opinion, beach and a good hotel.

Chaweng Beach is located on the east coast of Koh Samui. It is the most developed and popular place on the island. Beach Chaweng Samui located on the other side of the beach , but in general, from one to the other beach is quite easy to get. And, in principle, you can walk. Chaweng Beach Samui attracts many young travelers and families every year thanks to good value prices and quality.

You can compare prices for flights to Koh Samui, Bangkok and Phuket using the widgets below.

Thailand visa to Koh Samui

If you want to visit Chaweng Samui, Russian citizens do not need a visa for a 30-day stay in Thailand.

To stay on the territory of the kingdom, Ukrainians need to apply for a 15-day visa worth 2,000 baht. Visa received at Samui airport. The procedure is quite lengthy passport control walked outside in 40-degree heat. I didn’t take a photo for a visa with me, I had to pay for the “photo for a visa” service on the spot, the price of the service is 100 baht. The queue was huge, but for 500 baht per person, if I'm not mistaken, from the usual queue where there are a lot of people, you are transferred to the VIP queue, where you have to stand much less.

Chaweng Beach, reviews

Chaweng Samui Beach, about 7 km long, is notable for its fine white sand. It transitions into emerald blue waters and coral reefs that protect Chaweng Beach from waves. Near the reef there are two small islands which can be easily reached on foot through shallow water. The second island, which is further away from Chaweng Samui beach, is perfect for snorkellers. But you must definitely go in special shoes, because the corals are very sharp.

Chaweng Beach Samui is not the most secluded or peaceful beach on Koh Samui, but everything is nearby, from food to massages, which is why it is so popular. For those who like to be in peace and tranquility, there is a separate small section of the beach called Chaweng Noi, it is located in the southern part of Chaweng Beach Samui.

You can relax in any part of the beach, but in the center - the most great depth. At the northern end of Chaweng Beach, it is quite shallow and there is a reef not far from the coast, this place was chosen by families with small children. On Chaweng Beach you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas for the price of 100 baht. On Chaweng Beach Samui itself, you can have a good meal: here you will find vendors selling ice cream, fruits, grilled chicken, Thai papaya salad (som tam) and cold drinks. All services are offered here: henna tattoos, braiding, manicures, pedicures and massages.

How to get from the airport

Our hotel was located almost in the center of Chaweng and was 15 minutes from Koh Samui airport, so getting to the beach was not a big problem. We forgot to book a car in advance, so we had to take a transfer at the airport more expensive. It cost us about 800 baht. Next time we will order online in advance.

Chaweng Regent Beach Resort

On the island we lived in, the hotel is expensive by the standards of Thailand - 5000 baht per day, but the atmosphere and service are worth it. The territory is abundantly planted with greenery, trees and flowers, aquariums are equipped on the street. Spa and two outdoor pools at the disposal of guests. Prices for massages are quite justified: 400-800 baht general relaxing, a little more expensive than in massage parlors on the street, but the quality is much better.

The hotel has its own beach with a restaurant, pool and sun loungers, trees and coconut palms that provide shade will be a nice addition. Chaweng Samui beach is very clean not only on the territory of the hotel, but also along the entire coast - white sand and no garbage. The water in the sea is very clean, the bottom is easily visible. Enough large territory The water is separated by a stone breakwater, which provides a certain depth - no more than 1.7 meters at the deepest point.

Koh Samui Chaweng Restaurants

For lovers of luxurious cuisine, where each dish is prepared with love and care, I recommend visiting the Samui Chaweng restaurant - El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse. Excellent service, excellent quality of food and drinks, pleasant classic interior, very cozy terrace. Expensive! But unsurpassed! One of the waiters told us that they specially grow vegetables for their "steak home" on one of the farms in Thailand.

Chaweng is very diverse in terms of restaurants and cafes, we visited a good cafe, originally from Singapore - "Wine connection", in which I can note a good European assortment of dishes and a pleasant interior. They have excellent mozzarella. 🙂

Things to Do in Chaweng Beach

I am not a fan of nightclubs and transvestite shows, but for show we visited several places. I don’t remember the names, but Chaweng Samui is not that big, and we lived in the center, so everything was within walking distance. The nightclubs looked quite dull during our stay - there were practically no visitors. Although, maybe the tourists were afraid of the rainy season and did not come. We flew to the island at the end of September, stayed for a week, there was no rain, and the weather forecasts on the Internet looked terrifying. And Samui itself is not particularly famous for heavy rains.

The transvestite show on the island is still entertainment - you are lured into the hall where the show takes place, there is no entry price, but you must buy a drink, the cost of which starts at 350 baht. The event itself takes 10 minutes, where actors in disguise parody famous singers to the soundtrack. In general, it was fun, sometimes vulgar, but tolerable.

For lovers active entertainment in Samui Chaweng you can buy an excursion to the zoo, elephant riding, diving, etc. On the streets between restaurants, massage parlors, markets, fruit stalls, you can often find an agency selling excursions. Also, most hotels provide this service. At the zoo, you can take a photo in an enclosure with a tiger, the price of a photo is 900 baht, well, your life if the tiger gets angry. Joke. 🙂

Well, we preferred Thai boxing to night entertainment - we liked it, the ticket price is from 1000 to 2000 baht per person. You can also take a photo with a boxer.

This is where my review of Chaweng Samui ends. I talked about how to get to Chaweng Beach, Chaweng hotels, restaurants, what to do and how to spend time.

If you are interested in a holiday on Koh Samui, I advise you to read the following articles.

Chaweng Beach is located in the east of Koh Samui and is one of the most popular and lively beaches on the island, such tourist mecca Samui.

Chaweng Beach is the most popular beach on Koh Samui

Everyone who has ever been to Koh Samui knows what Chaweng is 🙂 Some of this beach is wildly delighted, and some (like us) do not like it very much. But this beach does not leave anyone indifferent. By the way, in the summer of 2015 we looked at Chaweng from a different angle - a very pretty beach in good weather. Yes, and there are not many people in the summer and in September-October on Chaweng 🙂 Everyone knows that whatever place or beach you like, the main thing is to choose the “right” season. By the way, about when I recently wrote about the season on Koh Samui (without embellishment, otherwise for many there is “NO rain on Koh Samui” or “on Saumi it’s good even in the rain”).

Description of Chaweng Beach

Chaweng is the center of the tourist life of the island; it houses both fashionable five-star hotels and simple bungalows and guesthouses. There are many houses in the area around Chaweng Lake local residents and cheap condos.

Chaweng has the most "package" tourists who come to rest on tour packages. In the summer of 2015, Chaweng was chosen by the Chinese, who replaced numerous once Russian-speaking tourists. Nevertheless, no matter what anyone says, there are much fewer Russian-speaking vacationers on Koh Samui than before. The ruble exchange rate affects and not only ...

Chaweng beach itself is conditionally divided into three zones: northern (Chaweng Yai), central and southern (Chaweng Noi). The border between northern and central Chaweng is very conditional and runs approximately near Samui International Hospital. Central Chaweng is separated from southern Chaweng (Chaweng Noi) by a rocky cape near the Samui First House hotel.

North Chaweng

North Chaweng enough quiet part Chaweng, if you do not take into account the fact that the airport is very close, where planes take off every hour. In this place, the beach is quite picturesque, the entire coastal strip is built up with high-level hotels. There are no noisy discos in this part of Chaweng, but they can be reached on foot in 10-15 minutes.

North Chaweng
Colorful Bangkok Air planes fly over Chaweng. But don't worry, planes don't fly to Koh Samui at night 🙂

Everything is good in this part of Chaweng, except for the sea itself 🙁 The water here is calm and clear, but very shallow. You can walk more than one hundred meters, but you won’t be able to swim in the sea. In the sea near the northern part of Chaweng is coral reef, now, unfortunately, almost dead 🙁

The northern part of the beach is quite shallow
View of Chaweng from the roof of an abandoned hotel. The photo clearly shows a coral reef near the shore.
If you go quite north, towards Choeng Mon beach, you can see this picture

Opposite the northern part of Chaweng, the small island of Koh Matlang pleases the eye, which can be reached on foot at low tide. Just be careful, there are fragments of corals in the water, it is better to wear shoes and it is advisable to have time to return back to Koh Samui before high tide, otherwise you will have to swim, which is not very convenient with things 🙂 C opposite side island on the mountain is a statue of Buddha and offers a nice view of the sea.

Islet of Koh Matlang in front of Chaweng Beach
At low tide, this islet can be crossed on foot.

Central Chaweng

Chaweng beach near Ark Bar in winter
And almost there in the summer 🙂

Near the Ark Bar, there are a lot of water activities on the beach, a lot of merchants, and in general you get the feeling that you are not on the beach, but somewhere in the middle of the road. This part is very reminiscent of the Crimea or Sochi at the height of the season.

Crowds of people on Chaweng even on such a cloudy gray day. Peak season is February!

The coastal strip in the center of Chaweng is wide, but almost the entire space is filled with sunbeds that belong to hotels or bars. But it is worth moving just a few steps south and a gorgeous wide beach will open in front of you. There is enough space on the beach for everyone, but most tourists prefer to hide from the sun under big tree next to the Long Beach Lodge. It is not clear why not go a little to the right or to the left - where there are practically no people ...

Central Chaweng

For some reason, all vacationers lay out their bedding under one big tree, although there are sooo many places on the beach 🙂

South Chaweng

South Chaweng (Chaweng Noi) begins behind a rocky cape and you can’t go along the coast to it, you can only drive along the ring road and go through the territory of the hotels. We were passing through the Fair House Hotel. We really liked Chaweng Noi, it does not look like central Chaweng at all. Quiet, calm, good sea. Now Chaweng Noi is my favorite beach on Koh Samui. More:

Beach strip, sand, entrance to the sea, waves

The beach strip of Chaweng is very long, more than 6 km. I didn’t manage to get through it all the way, I always turned into some pretty coastal cafe 🙂 For lovers hiking along the sea Chaweng beach perfect place A: It can easily compete with Long and Da Nang in Vietnam.

The sand on the entire Chaweng beach is white, the whitest on Koh Samui 🙂 In the northern part, the sand is more compacted and not as loose and pleasant to the touch as in the central part.

The sand on Chaweng is the whitest of all the sands of Koh Samui :)))
Pure white loose sand in the central part of Chaweng
To the northern part of the beach, the sand remains the same white, but more compacted. Walking on such sand is comfortable, the legs do not fall through 🙂

The entrance to the sea around Chaweng beach is smooth. In the northern part it is smaller, swimming at low tide is problematic. It is comfortable to swim in the central part.

Usually the sea is calm, but from November to January, easterly winds blow here, which create excitement on the sea. If you do not like to swim in the waves, then from November to January-February you should not choose Chaweng for beach holiday. The most beautiful sea in Chaweng in summer and early autumn. As for me, Koh Samui is generally a “summer” resort, I don’t know why everyone tends to come here in November - January, at the very bad weather

I don't want to upset you, but in winter the sea on Chaweng can look like this
Chaweng beach in mid February

Gorgeous, calm and very warm sea in Chaweng in summer

Beach infrastructure: sun loungers, showers, cafes

There are sun loungers on Chaweng Beach, like on others (unlike the beaches in Phuket). Sun loungers belong to hotels, cafes and bars. To take a sunbed in most cases, you just need to buy something at the hotel bar or place an order in a cafe. But in one place we saw that people bought a coconut in a cafe, and they were told to pay extra for sunbeds for 100 baht ... But this is more an exception than a rule.

I didn’t see a shower in free access on the beach, there is a shower and toilet for a hotel fee in the center of Chaweng beach, opposite water park in the sea (water park).

Toward evening, most cafes and restaurants carry tables, chairs and pillows to the shore. My favorite time days on the beach: it’s evening, but it’s not dark yet, happy hours are held in bars with cocktails at a special price, people leave the beach, and you sit on pillows on the sand or in comfortable chair and sip delicious Mahito 🙂 Oh, beauty! Just for this, it’s worth going on vacation to Koh Samui 🙂 About how to go on your own to Koh Samui:

Comfortable sofas for drinking cocktails 🙂

Entertainment

Along the entire Chaweng beach, you will be offered water activities: jet skiing, banana, water skiing, kayaks, and even new trendy features: stand up paddle board and flyboard. Prices for water activities are about the same on all the beaches of Koh Samui:

  • Ride on a jet ski 15 min - 1000 baht
  • Flyboard 5 minutes of training and 10 minutes of flight - 1500 baht
  • Flyboard 5 minutes of training and 20 minutes of flight - 2500 baht
  • Water skiing 5 minutes of training and 10 minutes of skiing - 1000 baht
  • Water skiing 5 minutes of training and 20 minutes of skiing - 2000 baht
  • Banana ride 10 minutes - 500 baht per person
  • Paddle board - 300 baht per hour and 1000 baht for the whole day
  • Kayak - 200 baht per hour

Water entertainment Enough on Chaweng Beach
You can try to fly over the water on such a cool thing
Pretty new fun

In the very center of the beach organized water park for children. The cost of visiting this water park in Chaweng:

  • 300 baht per hour
  • 500 baht for half a day
  • 700 baht for the whole day

These inflatable water things were called a water park ... For me, a water park is something else 🙂

Chaweng infrastructure

Chaweng is often chosen by long-livers of the island because of its excellent infrastructure. What is not here! Chaweng has many bars and restaurants, nightclubs and discos. Several markets, a lot of shops, Thai eateries, several good level sports clubs, coffee houses, McDonald's, KFS, etc.

McDonald's and a bunch of banks
Pizzeria, McDonald's, Burger King - no one will leave hungry!
Starbucks, Burger King and the gym 🙂

Not so long ago, a well-known shopping center in Thailand opened on the main street of Chaweng - with a cinema. Nearby are two more large supermarkets: Tesco Lotus and Makro. About the shops of Koh Samui.

Samui International Hospital and the pretentious Bangkok Samui Hospital are located on Chaweng.

Chaweng Central Street

If during the day the tourist life is in full swing mainly on the beach, and the central street of Chaweng is almost empty, then in the evening all tourists move to the main street. Unfortunately, it is not pedestrian, but here, unlike many other places on Koh Samui, there are sidewalks! And you can even walk on them! 🙂 And it seems that Lamai also has sidewalks, but they are so narrow that you still have to walk along the roadway!

Prices for Chaweng

Despite the fact that Chaweng is the most popular of the beaches of Koh Samui, the prices here are not very high, there is a lot of competition. For some services, such as Thai massage and foot massage, even lower than on other beaches of the island. It seemed to me that this is the most expensive beach on Koh Samui.

And Chaweng has such a variety of cafes and shops that you can always find something to your taste and budget. For example, we went to Chaweng for fruit - the choice is better and the prices are lower. Current prices for Koh Samui in .

And Chaweng has cocktails for 77 baht!
A foot massage is generally 149 baht!

Chaweng Hotels

On Chaweng huge selection hotels for every taste and budget, in detail:

Conclusion

Chaweng is a good choice for active people and nightlife lovers. You can also go to the beach on a rented bike, but it’s better to return drunk after night parties on foot 🙂 For myself, I didn’t consider Chaweng in terms of rest or life, although I don’t exclude that someday I’ll settle on Chaweng in the center of the party on vacation! And the beach here is pleasing to the eye 🙂

A hotel on Koh Samui, especially if you are going to the island during the peak season, I strongly advise you to book in advance.

Have a great time at Chaweng Beach! 🙂
