Islands of Spain

Ibiza

Ibiza is a Spanish island, a place of pilgrimage for adherents of youth subcultures. Around the clock living on their own special rules, the main of which is no rules, the island has fifty beaches and is dotted with a variety of entertainment venues. Music permeates everything here, the island lives in a single rhythm, the pulsation of which unites both students fluttering from one dance floor to another, and European pensioners basking on painted sunbeds with glasses of whiskey in their hands at sunset. Absolutely “homely” atmosphere allows you not to think about formalities, and it is not forbidden to fall asleep on some beach right in the middle of a party in order to continue the dance marathon after a couple of hours of sleep.

After carving some time out of a crazy schedule, travelers go on a date with local attractions, such as Archaeological Museum, where you can see exhibits from Carthage and Phoenicia. Ibiza is a great place for shopping, "hippie markets" are especially popular - for example, Punta Arabi (works on Wednesdays) in the village of Es Canar, another one is open on Saturdays in Las Dalias. But even travelers who love peace and quiet will find an opportunity to relax in noisy Ibiza: just choose quiet villas and hotels, avoiding Youth Center San Antonio, and from the sounds only the singing of exotic birds and the lulling splash of waves will reach their ears.

But to visit the veranda of the legendary "Cafe Del Mar" overlooking the phenomenal natural beauty and look at the roof of the trendy club Pacha is a must. At least for an hour - which will last the whole night.

Majorca

Another star of the Balearic Islands is not inferior to the leading position in terms of tourist attendance - Mallorca, an expensive resort that was created so that its guests can literally swim in luxury. Mediterranean coast of Spain

All mediterranean coast Spain - from the French border to Portugal - is divided into segments - Costa Brava, Costa del Maresme, Costa del Garraf, Costa Dorada, Costa del Azaar, Costa de Valencia, Costa Blanca, Costa Calida, Costa del Almeria, Costa Tropical, Costa del Sol.

All these tourist destinations very popular with European tourists and each has its own characteristics. What is different from one another, what to do in one or another coastal region of Spain and another useful information I hope you can find it in this article.

Costa Brava (Costa Brava, or "Wild Coast")

This stunningly picturesque stretch of coastline is located just north of Barcelona, all the way to the French border. It stretches from Cape Creus in the north to the town of Malgrat de Mar in the south. A very beautiful rocky coast is densely decorated with coniferous groves, and wonderful and very cozy beaches await you in the bays. There are traditionally a lot of French people here, and you can understand them: nature is the same as in their homeland, but the prices for everything are 1.5 times lower than French ones.

Costa Brava is the coolest of all the resorts in Spain (the north after all!) They say that the sea here more or less warms up by June. Hmm, we rested here at the end of August, and the water, to put it mildly, invigorated (the sea is +22, at most +23 degrees - far from the ultimate dream!)

The most popular resorts: Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, Blanes and Platja d'Aro.

Lloret de Mar is traditionally considered a youth resort. There are a huge number of nightclubs, and the city is famous primarily for them. The beaches here are noisy and there is literally nowhere for an apple to fall. But fun, if you know a lot about such fun. Looking at the samples of practically bucketful cocktails displayed in the windows of the bars, you understand that the resort is “tailored” primarily for the needs of people who, for the first time in their lives, escaped from under their parental wing. That is why, probably, the main housing stock of the resort is multi-storey and featureless concrete boxes-apartments. But everything is relative, and on the right side of the resort (if you stand with your back to the sea), we managed to find a couple of very nice 4-star hotels ...

For lovers of more refined and a relaxing holiday worth stopping at. Charming medieval city, located a few the most beautiful bays, can not leave anyone indifferent! Read my report on a wonderful vacation spent in Tossa.

The resorts of Blanes and Playa de Aro are best suited for families with children.

Prices for holidays in Madrid. August 2018.

tour cost

At that time, it was already accepted visa-free agreement so no visa was required. All that was needed was insurance. It cost 212 hryvnia. Plane tickets should be booked in advance, then the amount will be lower. I flew from Kyiv to Madrid with a change in Lviv. It cost about 4800 hryvnia. Upon arrival in Madrid from the airport at night, you can only get to the city by taxi, there is a crowd at the exit, the price is 30 euros. I rented housing from a private person, there are many sites for finding such offers. The apartment was almost in the very center: the La Latina quarter. Clean and bright interior, everything you need was there. The apartment cost 260 euros for two weeks.

During this trip, I visited the Prado Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum of Contemporary Art. You can easily get into them for free. In the Prado free entrance from Monday to Saturday from 18.00 - 20.00, and on Sundays and holidays from 17.00-19.00, it is important to take into account the huge queue when planning time, and allow time for several visits, because you cannot see the entire exposition in 2 hours. If you want to save time, then the ticket will cost 15 euros without a tour, 24 euros with a guide. The Reina Sofia Museum of Contemporary Art can be visited free of charge from Monday to Saturday from 19.00-21.00. A paid ticket costs 15.50 euros with an audio guide. You can get tickets to these museums with a subscription for 29.60 euros. This will also include the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Food and products

Lunch at a restaurant: Paella (Paella) on average 30 euros, tinto de verano (tinto de verano, a refreshing wine cocktail) or sangrilla (sangria) 10-12 euros. Prices for almost any product in the Carrefur supermarket (Carrefour) are from 1-3 euros, provided that you are not a gourmet and are not going to eat delicacies. For example: yogurt - 0.99 cents, bread - 2 euros, a bottle of wine - 1 euro, cheese 1.36 euros, jamon 2 euros. Water is expensive: you want to drink a lot, and one and a half liters cost 0.99 cents.

Souvenirs and other goods

On average, it is fashionable to buy magnets from 5-10 euros, clothes on discounts cost from 2-30 euros. Great place to update your wardrobe.

Cost of services and entertainment

I highly recommend seeing flamenco live. This can be done in local tablaos (cafes where they dance flamenco) "Casa Patas" 37 euros (the price includes a drink and the performance itself), or "Villa Rosa" 65 euros (the price includes a hearty dinner and the performance itself).
