Close to Valencia

In the suburbs of Valencia there are a huge number of cities and towns, whose sights, no doubt, will attract your attention with their unusualness and originality.

It is naive to think that the main cultural heritage area is concentrated exclusively in its capital, the city of Valencia. It is time for us to leave the capital city and turn our eyes to its suburbs, visit monuments and museums, natural parks and reserves of the Valencian Community, and without fail - nearby towns and villages, each of which has its own charm.

Let's start with the town of Manises, located just a few kilometers from the city of Valencia, which received the unspoken title of the city of ceramics. There is also a museum entirely dedicated to this ancient craft with unique examples of medieval pottery and clay products.

After driving only two kilometers along the CV-35 highway, we will find ourselves in the village of Burjassot, which keeps traces of the Moorish conqueror's stay on the mainland in the form of military towers and fortresses. From there we will drive another seventeen kilometers along the coast and reach the town of Bétera, in the very center of which there is a huge medieval castle built in gothic style.

After enjoying the narrow streets of Beret, just twelve kilometers away we will find the monastery of Porta Coeli (Cartuja de Porta Coeli), built at the end of the 13th century. And from there we will go to Lliria, in the middle of the central square of which rises a grandiose Catholic church, famous throughout the district.

And after driving fifteen kilometers north of Valencia, you will find yourself in the village of El Puig. On a small hill, in the immediate vicinity of the village, there is a medieval monastery of Santa Maria (Monasterio de Santa María) of the XIV century, which houses the Museum of Printing and Graphic Arts of Valencia.
