In Tver and Moscow regions. The wonderful village of Panika. For miracles in the village of panic

Waterfall in the village of Panika Having reached the waterfall, it is not a sin to cheer up with some water. In order to see real waterfalls, it is not at all necessary to go to distant lands - they can be found in two districts of the Tver region - Andreapolsky and Torzhoksky. The latter falls from a height of 4 meters and is a kind of calling card the village of Panika (stress on the second syllable). Coordinates Torzhoksky district Torzhok Tvertsa Panika got its specific name back in the days of the Tatar-Mongols raids. According to local residents, it was from here that the news of the approach of enemy hordes to the nearest settlements and further along the chain was transmitted. That is, at first glance, an inconspicuous village was actually the most important outpost in the days of Ancient Rus'. In the 19th century, extensive deposits of limestone were found on the territory of Panika, and almost immediately began its development, which lasted almost a hundred years. In the late 80s of the XX century, during the excavation of a quarry in the Paniki area, a cavity was discovered underground lake surrounded by karst caves. According to geologists, the age of underground formations is more than 300 million years and in their length they surpass the Staritsa caves, which are the longest in Europe ... According to eyewitnesses, when drilling a well, a jet of water “shot” from the ground to a height of about 25 meters. It was as a result of the exit of the underground lake in the village of Panika that the waterfall was formed. By autumn, its flow practically stops, but in summer you can observe a natural phenomenon In his best. The water runs cold, invigorating, and in the most exhausting summer heat it can refresh and give strength. Now the underground source is cultivated - the walls of the grotto are lined with limestone, a bridge, steps, stone benches are made. However, the grotto, as a result of washing out the layers of clay, is still in danger of collapse every year. More recently, the waterfall was consecrated and received a name - the Falls of the Holy Spring in honor of St. Nicholas the Pleasant near the village of Panika. However, this is not all the attractions of little Panika! Half a kilometer from the waterfall you can find another small source. Water from it rolls with even greater pressure along the limestone steps, formed naturally. It gives the impression that you are watching a real mountain river. The village itself is located on the picturesque bank of the Tvertsa, where you can find small stone bridges, which were left from the old horse-drawn road along the river and were built under Catherine II. In the village itself, limestone houses, built back in the days of quarrying, are still preserved. Don't go to Panic Shuttle Buses The only way to get to the village is by private transport. The village is located 56 km from Tver along the E95 (M10) highway towards St. Petersburg (just over 10 km before reaching Torzhok). There is a sign on the road. To get to the waterfall, you need to drive through the whole village, then move along the river and turn right. Approaching, you will certainly hear the sound of water. GPS coordinates: N57°0.065"; E35°4.903".

We met the New Year without snow at all ... occasionally it rained ... What kind of New Year's mood can we talk about? And now ... the first snowy day in so long ... Just magical ...

All night long snowflakes were circling in the air, beautifully covering the city of Tver with their white veil... Hooray! Here is the frost!

Yesterday I wanted to go to the store to buy rubber boots, and today I'm looking for my hat with a pompom. Why? Because we're going to Panic!

I dress warmly, take my camera and jump into the car. And now, on the right all-terrain vehicle, we are setting off. And while we are driving, I will tell you some facts from Wikipedia.

By the way, the first thing I want to notice is that the stress in the name of the village falls on the second syllable, i.e. Pan village And ka, not P A nika The village is located 56 km from Tver towards St. Petersburg. To get to the waterfall, you need to drive through the entire village, and then move along the Tvertsa River.

The village itself is very small and empty. We did not see any people, animals, or cars passing through it. I always wondered: where are the children? After all, it's the holidays! Oh, it was impossible to drag me home during my holidays. I myself am from a small village, but I could always find something to do. It happened that it was not us who returned home, but some yetis. Mom cursed, but we didn’t care ... a happy and carefree childhood ...

And here is the coveted turn to the left... We have arrived!

I have a very old dream - to be photographed near each sign of the settlement, in which I came on an "excursion". And now the dream began to come true ... Still, there is a charm in personal transport

A frosty morning and a village road ... something nostalgia attacked me. It’s a pity that we didn’t take any bedding with us so that we could ride down the hill. But there is more than enough space for this.

By the way, I almost forgot the photo with me

So we got cold, took pictures and drove on ...

Every time, driving along a country road, I am visited by thoughts about how rich our country is in picturesque subjects: endless fields, dense forests and an amazing atmosphere of mystery...

There is no specific place on the map about the location of the waterfall ... and the connection there does not catch very well, so I had to be guided by advice and listen ...

You can really hear the sound of water from the road!

What an indescribable delight it was when we finally got to the waterfall! This is an amazingly beautiful sight!

The thought immediately arises that you are somewhere far from the world in which work, study and household chores await you. Have you ever felt peace within yourself? When it's easy and calm... This place is perfect for sitting quietly and calmly and thinking about your own, returning home with a clear understanding of what to do next...

Our whole life most often consists of work, household chores and problems. We only occasionally allow ourselves to relax in the company of friends or somewhere in the south (if there are free Money). However, sometimes it is useful to just leave the edges hometown and change the picture before my eyes. Let it be only 56 km from home. I was happy that day and absolutely did not think that in a few days I was waiting for the state and diploma

What can I say in the end? I really want to visit this place in the warm season. Although it will be problematic due to the large influx of "tourists". Local Tver guys often visit this place in large companies.

I definitely advise you to visit this village for those who will be passing through the Tver region. Trust me, it's worth it! Only an hour of time, but there will be a whole bunch of impressions! I certainly know for sure, because I went there right after the new year, and I am writing a review at the end of March ... the words were found and their sea! But I won’t “load” the review with my lyrical digressions

I will attach at the end beautiful pictures and .... bye everyone I hope that soon I will visit some interesting place that you want to talk about

Project Description

How did the drilling of a well in the Torzhoksky district end?

Carrying out certain types of technical work can sometimes result in unexpected finds. One such case in the vicinity of the village of Panika in the Torzhoksky district of the Tver region is a vivid confirmation of this. Limestone deposits have long attracted geologists and builders to this area, karst caves and underground lakes have attracted the attention of speleologists, at the intersection of common interests in the course of regular surveys in the 80s of the last century, researchers were in for a surprise - a gift from a reservoir hiding its secrets in the dungeon. When drilling a well, a brisk fountain more than 24 m high was hammered from under the ground. So among the bizarre reliefs karst formations a strange waterfall of rather rather big growth and frisky character was born. The most beautiful grotto framing the running jets of water, islands of greenery covering the steps of a 4-meter waterfall and the crystal clearness of the spring instantly won the sympathy of the inhabitants of the glorious village of Panika and active tourists who love to explore novelties of natural gifts. Pilgrims coming to the waterfall in the village of Panika, and for some time after the consecration of the spring received the status of "holy spring in honor of St. Nicholas the Pleasant", are surprised to learn that locality previously had an important strategic importance for the defense of the entire region. The area around the waterfall is ennobled, there are comfortable descent from the hill, steps and comfortable benches for rest. We visited this unusual natural corner and now we will share the details with you.

Quiet military outpost and other mysteries of the village of Panika

The seemingly inconspicuous settlement got its name during the attacks of the Mongol-Tatar conquerors on Russian lands. Having learned about the next treacherous plans of the enemy, the inhabitants of the village immediately notified their neighbors about the next impending enemy raid. Many years have passed, and the village of Panika keeps memories of those distant times and proudly bears its name as a messenger of military danger. We got to the place by car, which we left near the village, so that, on the advice seasoned tourists walk to the waterfall. On the way, we saw a whole collection of old stone bridges across the Tvertsa River, built here during the reign of Russia by the great Empress Catherine II. In the village of Panika, the remains of houses built from this unusual building material at the beginning of the development of a limestone quarry at the end of the 19th century have been preserved. We also walked to another waterfall near the holy spring, the landscape of this second natural stream almost exactly repeats the picture of the first one: the same steps are made of limestone slabs, only the water beats out of the ground with great persistence, and the height of the source is less. In both springs, the water pleasantly cools the skin if you put your hands in it, and it tastes a little sweet and refreshingly cool. The village of Panika, comfortably located on beautiful shores of the Tvertsa River, with its colorful view, calls for more pictures to be taken here and it is regrettable that even the most spectacular photographs cannot convey the charming charm of this picturesque place. It is better to enjoy such landscapes with your own eyes, a walk leaves warm memories and a desire to make new trips to similar places in our country.

"Panika is a village in the Torzhoksky district of the Tver region of Russia. It is part of the rural settlement of Mirnovskoye. It is located on the banks of the Tvertsa River. The population is 9 people (2008).

The most plausible version of the name of the village of Panika is that near the village, the Panika River flowed into the Tvertsa River. Most likely, the village was named after her. And the river could be named as drooping, or in the sense of "the place where the water falls."

There are several more versions-assumptions:

- Panic (Panic - Panic - Panic) - lowering with a river or stream, often associated local residents with evil spirits;

- the name of the village comes from the nature of the river, which was fed by springs. The springs were raging - the river was seething. They subsided in a drought, drooped like grass, without recharge and a stream.

- even before the adoption of Orthodoxy, all our ancestors believed in the spirits of the elements, trees. Each element had its own deities. One of them was the spirit of Panix - a monster that inspires fear, causing panic. "VIKI

I start the review of the area from the bridge, which is located in the forest above the quarries, behind the field. It leads very steep road, but after the rain it’s not realistic for me to call in - on foot.

Ringing silence and a disturbed midge from the grass.

Three boulders greet me in the field, one of very impressive sizes.

Former quarries

forest stream

The bridge turned out to be not very interesting ...

Everywhere there are boulders that are more characteristic of glacial movement (furrows, polishing ...).

I go down to the quarry

"Waterfall of amazing beauty, which tourists and newlyweds from different regions, was consecrated as a holy spring in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, a worship cross was installed above it.

In the late 1980s while developing a quarry near the village of Panika, workers accidentally “opened up” an underground river flowing through karst cavities. Later, the cavity of the underground lake, surrounded by karst caves, opened up before the researchers. According to eyewitnesses, when drilling a well, a stream of water gushed to a height of about 25 meters. As a result of the exit of the underground river near the village of Panika, a picturesque waterfall was formed.

At present, the spring has been cultivated by volunteers - stone steps have been made to the place where the water comes out, a bridge and stone benches have been built, the walls of the grotto have been lined with limestone. However, due to the washing out of the clay layers, the grotto is threatened with collapse every year." VIKI

The breed is very strong! Not loose and not brittle.

You can collect a lot of fossils!

All the surroundings are littered with boulders of solid weight!

Well, the main attraction, in my opinion, is the boulder bridge. Truly amazing design!
"In addition to the Torzhok waterfall, the village also has one large boulder bridge, well preserved, and two small bridges. All three bridges are located in close proximity to the Tvertsa River and, in fact, are bridges over streams flowing into Tvertsa. The bridges are left from the old horse-drawn road ( tract) from St. Petersburg to Moscow along Tvertsa, were built in the time of Catherine by the famous architect N. A. Lvov. The largest bridge across the Panitsky stream, which was a “river” in the 19th century and was called the Panika River. Two small ones across the streams that come in spring.Bridges are historical monument architecture of those years, but fall into disrepair, are not protected by anyone. It is surprising that the boulders in the arched structure of the bridge are self-supporting, rely on each other, and so far the bridges can easily withstand the loads from the daily passing trucks. There are similar boulder arched bridges in the Vasilevo estate near Torzhok and in the village of Georgians. "VIKI

In May of this year, summer suddenly came. And we decided to go south, to explore the sights of the Tver and Moscow regions. (In winter, it is sad there, because, unlike the north, in the Moscow region there are neither forests nor rocks that delight the eye in winter, but in May everything is in flowers, and this greatly decorates any trip). As always, our group rented a bus, which meant that we would see a lot, a lot. The plans included three monasteries, the Kremlin in Dmitrov, a walk around Tver at night, but first - a stunningly beautiful village in the Tver region, not far from Torzhok. And she wears pretty unusual name- Panic. About visiting this wonderful corner of the Russian land, I will tell in the first note.

We started from St. Petersburg at 23.00. Two stops at gas stations, and around 6 am we are already near Torzhok. The arrival time is perfect - the sun has just risen, the dew is still silvering on the grass, there is no heat, it is fresh and pleasant.

Fishermen are standing on the Tvertsa River. Morning bite is in full swing. Our presence did not please them - after 5 minutes they preferred to go away ...

The first object of our inspection is a stone arch bridge. Ancient ... The stones are held without cement, under their own weight, propping each other up. They knew how to build in the old days ...

Ten minutes to photograph the bridge, as well as to take a selfie in front of it..

At the same time we look at the picturesque river Tvertsa

How wonderful it is here!

Russian landscapes! Just a fairy tale...

We follow the road along the river.

We got off the bus dressed, as the sun had not yet had time to warm up, and there was a coolness. But after 10 minutes it rose a little higher, and it began to fry so much that everyone undressed along the way.

We go to the waterfall, along the edge of the overgrown old quarry, where limestone was mined.

The waterfall is an exit to the outside of the late river.

Once it flowed under the earth, falling into the Tvertsa under water, but the quarries broke the ground, and now it comes out, delighting us with its beauty.

Under the waterfall, someone made a small arched bridge from stone mined here.

It is clearly seen that the flow of water comes from the cave. Similar underground river eat in Novgorod region, it is called Poneretka. The cave is located not far from Borovichi, on the banks of the Msta, but the water pressure is stronger there.

I climbed up and photographed the cave. It is hardly possible to climb inside, even if the river dries up in summer.

Wonderful place!

But that's not all! There is something else in the village... These are unusual stone houses! There's something medieval about them...

You can sit on a bench near a stone barn

Another old house. The build quality is amazing! That is why such houses stand for centuries.

Apparently, the quarries where we saw the waterfall were used from ancient times, two or three hundred years ago, and bridges and houses were built from the stone mined there.

A lot of work was invested to lay out the walls of stones. But it is a very durable building!

There are many old wells in the village. Such wells are called "cranes".

We collect water.

The well is very deep! And its walls are also lined with stone... Very cool!

We collect water and drink. Delicious. Everyone liked it.

So we were charged with the sun, as well as a good mood ... Tver land is very beautiful, and knows how to give guests positive emotions. It's time to go, ahead - we have a lot of interesting things waiting for us ...
