MOSCOW, September 13 - RIA Real Estate. The figurative fountain in the stalls of Gorky Park traditionally attracts Muscovites and tourists with its bright illumination, the ability to "sing" and the dancing skills of the jets. The fountain receives its share of glory every day, unlike its "conductor". The RIA Real Estate website found out who brings the fountain to life all year round and chooses the music for the light show.

Not all at once

While early visitors to Gorky Park are relaxingly enjoying the morning coolness at the Figured Fountain, work is in full swing in the low, pale yellow building on its left side. Here, in a semicircular room with panoramic windows overlooking the stalls of the park, there is a fountain control center and, at the same time, an observation post.

The operator on duty clicks the mouse with concentration, setting the parameters of the height and intensity of the jets in a special program. Viktor Makarovich Stoyan, foreman of the GBU "Gormost" section, recalls that only two hours are left before the first light and music performance. Until then, all equipment must be rechecked.

Viktor Makarovich has been on the staff of Gormost for 20 years, during which time he managed to work on almost all fountains in Moscow from Manezhnaya Square to Poklonnaya mountain. But the 81-year-old master has a particularly reverent attitude towards the figured fountain in Gorky Park - he sunk into his soul as a student.

“Of course, then the fountains were simpler, they did not represent anything interesting or complicated as hydraulic structures. But even at that time, Muscovites always came here on a day off, artists of the Bolshoi Theater performed here, Leonid Brezhnev was very fond of walking,” says Stoyan.

Built in the 1930s, the Figured Fountain became a light and music fountain only in 1980: the technical equipment was developed by a specialized German company, but it turned out to be not entirely suitable for Soviet operation. The voltage on underwater structures, including lamps, reached 220 volts. Protection, of course, was also there, but for the safety of visitors to the park, Moscow specialists re-equipped the fountain, reducing the performance to 12 volts.

Since then, the fountain has been modernized more than once. Incandescent lamps were replaced with spotlights, each with 420 LEDs in three different colors. Instead of 8 speakers placed along the perimeter of the bowl, 16 high-quality speakers appeared in the center of the water surface. Modern sizes fountain - 3.6 thousand square meters with a capacity of 2.6 thousand cubic meters of water.

“In order for such a fountain to come to life and sing, a whole range of lighting measures is needed. This is what we do every day,” Stoyan notes.

To the rhythm of the waltz

The figured fountain operates according to the standard schedule for all Moscow fountains. Employees of "Gormost" launch it at seven in the morning, shutdown occurs at midnight. Water is pumped into the bowl by a special pump with a capacity of 160 kilowatts. The unit is located in the basement of the fountain control center.

Pump protection is provided by compressor units. And security, says Viktor Makarovich, is constantly monitored by one of the employees. For this, surveillance cameras are installed in the basement.

“The equipment is technically complex, we have a great responsibility, so we constantly monitor the pump. The water in the fountain is controlled pneumatically, there are 13 valves that regulate the height and pressure of the jet,” explains Stoyan.

Nozzles are responsible for the direction of the jets, there are 94 of them in the fountain bowl. All are distributed in rows depending on their shape: there are "walls", arched structures and beam nozzles. Their launch and sequence is determined by a pre-compiled program and a clear schedule.

Viktor Makarovich demonstrates a document entitled "Technological mode of operation of a light and music fountain". There are only two modes in the schedule: hydroplastics and a music program, the gap between sessions is from three to five hours.

"We start with hydroplastics every morning, this is the standard operating mode of the fountain, without light and music. It is very dependent on climatic conditions. If the weather is calm, we can make the jets higher. If the wind picks up and splashes fly at visitors, the height must be reduced. The operator does it manually with the help of a special program on the computer,” explains the Gormost master.

Every day the fountain gives five musical programs, including one light program after dark. The first show starts at noon and lasts half an hour. A program with superimposed music is also run on a computer, forcing the jets to rise and fall to the beat. "Gormost" specialists are also involved in the selection of music. Now the fountain repertoire of six musical programs is based on classical waltzes: "Autumn Dream", "Amur Waves", " Cruel romance", "Waltz No. 2" by Shostakovich.

“For Victory Day we have a selection of military waltzes, for Knowledge Day there are songs about school years. The most pleasant thing for us is to see how visitors react to the music program, start smiling and even dancing. We want to bring people joy,” says smile Viktor Makarovich.

After the end of the light and music show at 10:55 pm, Gormost employees turn on the artistic lighting of the fountain, which stays on until it turns off at midnight. At the end of the working day, operators go out to inspect the objects entrusted to them. In addition to the Figured Fountain, in Gorky Park they are responsible for the Rosary Fountain and the Girl with a Jug. Stoyan notes that the technical condition of the fountains is carefully monitored, and all observations are recorded for further improvement of the work.

Prepare a fountain in winter

It is not difficult to control the work of one of the main fountains of the capital, Viktor Makarovich admits. Difficulty brings the end summer season and completion of the city fountains.

“Every winter we carry out a whole range of technical works. It is necessary to fully inspect the fountain, service the equipment: loudspeakers, nozzles. All employees start preparing for the next fountain season in the winter,” explains Stoyan.

In winter, employees of "Gormost" also monitor the snow removal. Although the fountain is a hydraulic structure, melt and dirty water can damage it. While a skating rink is being set up in the stalls of Gorky Park, programmers are preparing and testing new music programs for the summer.

"Maintenance of the fountain does not stop, we always monitor it. After all, when it is in good technical condition, we can create real magic and make Muscovites happy,” concludes Viktor Makarovich.

By the Day of the Airborne Forces, the ParkSeason editors decided to make a guide to the main object of adoration of the celebrating paratroopers - fountains in Moscow parks. We do not recommend anyone to take off their clothes and rush in search of Poseidon, but we consider it necessary to learn more about them and admire them. Historical, completely new, new, depicting historical, favorite bathing places for children, clowns and military personnel - in our selection of the main fountains in Moscow parks.

"Stone Flower" at VDNKh

Above the fountain Stone Flower Topuridze and Dobrynin also worked. The composition was opened in 1954, the tale of the same name (1938) by Pavel Bazhov then experienced a real boom. The film “Stone Flower” has already been released on the cinema screens, plus in the same year the ballet “The Mistress copper mountain”, the music for which was written by Sergei Prokofiev. Of course, the Muscovites fell in love with the fountain not only for the reference to Bazhov. "Stone Flower" became the world's first light musical fountain. By the way, the music for the performance of his first "water dances" was specially written by Dmitry Shostakovich.

Fountain "Friendship of Peoples" at VDNKh

One of the main symbols of VDNKh was built along with most of the iconic pavilions of the exhibition in 1954. The octagonal pond is decorated with 16 gilded sculptures symbolizing 16 Soviet republics. Walk around the fountain and try to guess which girl from which republic “arrived” there. By the way, the night illumination of the "Friendship of Peoples" also changes 16 times per hour.

Kolos at VDNKh

The sculpture of an ear in the middle of the Upper Pond first appeared in 1939. However, the copper composition did not last long - due to corrosion, the ear collapsed even before the war. In 1954, VDNKh decided to build a new solid sculpture and make it a fountain. The architects Konstantin Topuridze and Grigory Konstantinovsky, as well as the sculptor Prokopy Dobrynin are considered to be the creators. In the 1990s, the fountain broke down and the Kolos turned out to be just a sculpture for a while, but in 2014, after repair and restoration, the fountain started working again. The jets hit from 30 nozzles that imitate the tendrils of the ear.

Dry fountain in Muzeon

Dry fountains are called without a bowl, which are jets of water beating from the ground. A fountain appeared on Krymskaya Embankment after its reconstruction by the Wowhaus Bureau for City Day in September 2013. In hot weather this is popular place in the park, and children are so easily introduced into a state of euphoria.

Figured fountain in Gorky Park

A favorite resting place for airborne troops, the Figured Fountain was built along with the park in the 1930s and started operating on the day it was opened. True, in those days the fountain was closer to the Crimean shaft, and it was decorated with a sculpture of a girl with an oar. In 1955, during the reconstruction of the park, it was decided to move the fountain to the center of the parterre of the park. Now here every evening (in summer at 22:00, in spring and autumn at 20:00) light and music performances begin.

"Girl on the Boom" in Gorky Park

The Girl on the Boom is part of the cycle of sports sculptures by Elena Janson-Manizer. Most of athletes was made in miniature and sold as figurines. Some (including "The Girl on the Boom") were enlarged into sculptures in the 1930s and began to be installed in parks throughout the USSR. By the way, the same sculpture can be found today in St. Petersburg - it is installed on the main alley of the TsPKiO im. S. M. Kirova - there a girl really walks on a log, so visitors do not call her a "dancer" or just a "girl", as is the case in Gorky Park.

Openwork fountain in the rose garden of Gorky Park

The design of the rose garden with a fountain was developed by the architect Alexander Vlasov along with the entire layout of Gorky Park. By the way, for this he was awarded the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris (1937). Since the 1990s, the fountain did not work and was hidden from the eyes of visitors, until in 2013 the park decided to restore the rose garden, and at the same time the fountain. It is especially pleasant to walk here in the evening and in the midst of blooming roses to watch the changing illumination of the fountain.

Fountain "Bather" in the Neskuchny Garden

The fountain completes the water cascade that descends the slope Neskuchny garden to the river. The composition was built in 1937 by the architect Alexander Vlasov, and the sculpture of an athlete crowning it appeared on the fountain in 1952. The fountain is also interesting because it does without pumps, the water simply descends from the nearest pond.

Fountains in Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill

Despite the fact that on Poklonnaya Hill located Triumphal Arch in honor of the victory over Napoleon, the park is dedicated to the victory of Russia in the Great Patriotic War. Here is the largest in Moscow fountain complex. It consists of 15 fountain bowls, each has 15 vertical jets. Total number jets - 225 - symbolizes 225 weeks that the war lasted. The entire Victory Park is relatively new memorial Complex, it was fully completed only in 1995.

Fountain in Sokolniki

The fountain in Sokolniki appeared in the year the park was opened, in 1931. The fountain is a large bowl, which occupies almost the entire area, from which there are clearings, and several jets beat in the middle. The pool itself is covered with stainless steel produced in an aircraft factory.

Four large fountains serviced by Gormost State Budgetary Institution will be repaired in the capital. In particular, the famous bronze sculptures of the Friendship of Peoples fountain will be restored.

Comprehensive restoration and repair will be completed in the capital by the next warm season four large fountains. Among them are some of the main symbols of VDNKh - the Friendship of Peoples and Stone Flower fountains, as well as the singing fountain in Gorky Park and the cascade of 15 water bowls in Pobeda Park on Poklonnaya Gora. Works on complex restoration and repair of fountains have already begun.

In addition, next spring in the park named after Svyatoslav Fedorov in the north of Moscow, a new dry light and music fountain an area of about 200 square meters. Its highlight will be a projector that will broadcast various images to the jets of water to the music. In this case, the height of the jets will change depending on the speed and rhythm of the melody - they will rise by a maximum of three meters. The arrangement of this fountain was completed in September. Now they are being conducted there.

“They are carrying out a comprehensive restoration with the modernization and renewal of all engineering systems of two fountains built for the opening of VDNKh in 1954. These are “Friendship of Peoples” and “Stone Flower”. Specialists will restore decorative elements made of bronze and cast iron, as well as change concrete bowls where water flows, and renew the granite cladding. The famous bronze sculptures of the Friendship of Peoples fountain, symbolizing the republics, will also be restored. former USSR. Now all 16 sculptures are in the workshop - the restorers are restoring the lost elements, cleaning them of dirt, after which they will again be gilded and smalt, ”the Moscow municipal economy complex said.

Engineering networks are being changed under the bowls of two fountains: pipes are laid and more powerful pumps are installed to supply water. In addition, there will be new architectural lighting fountains. In total, several dozen underwater lamps will be installed.

As specified in the complex of urban economy of the city of Moscow, on the Main Alley of Victory Park 15 fountain bowls will be repaired on Poklonnaya Gora. They will be cast from concrete, and then lined with granite. The inside of the bowl will be covered with a special waterproofing solution. Underwater lamps will also be replaced there, which will illuminate the water jets in red in the evenings.

A similar list of works is provided for light and music fountain in Gorky Park located at the main entrance. However, underwater lamps in it will be multi-colored. In addition, new loudspeakers will be installed next to the fountain bowl and electric cables will be replaced. Repair of all four fountains is planned to be completed in April.

Now in the capital there are about 600 fountains, swimming pools and water devices. There are 69 main fountains located in parks and squares in the capital. They are served by the State Budgetary Institution "Gormost". All fountains are now mothballed for the winter.
