The longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world. Skypark Sochi: the longest suspension bridge in the world

And post-Olympic Sochi is in touch again! New revelations, intrigues and scandals. Let's leave Krasnaya Polyana for a while , where they come one day to stare at the built beauty in the summer and go skiing in the winter, but where there is no life, and move closer to Adler, to old road from Krasnaya Polyana.

Although even with the new one, this structure can be seen from afar. Some incomprehensible structure appears on the horizon, you don’t immediately understand that this is a bridge.

Not just a bridge. MOOOOOOST! Sochi knows how to surprise not only with negativity and cutting. And the longest suspension bridge in the world. Where can you jump from? And even survive!

1 Here, even without a bridge, there are excellent views, on the left there is a new combined road and railway route from Adler to Polyana, on the right you can barely see the old route, oh, and there were traffic jams! And in the distance, the owner can see the sea. What beautiful lakes I can’t say, maybe you know better?

2 The bridge itself was not built to improve the lives of the local aborigines, moving from one cliff to another over deep gorge but solely for entertainment purposes. Center will open soon active rest for Skypark extreme sportsmen, and suspension bridge plays a major role in it.

3 The length of the bridge is 520 meters, and today it is the longest such structure in the world. Interestingly, no one specifically set a record: the park was planned here many years ago, and at first they were going to connect the “shores” of the canyon at the narrowest point: it would have turned out a good hundred meters less. But while we were arranging the formalities, looking for investors, getting ready - the tasty place turned out to be occupied, a power line was built here, and the bridge had to be "thrown" a little to the side.

4 High!

5 But for some reason it's not scary.

6 The walk itself along the narrow suspension bridge is also an adventure, because many people are afraid of heights. They exhale only when they step on the “other shore”. But the views are worth it!

7 View from the other side.

8 It would be better if they wrote how to protect themselves from these wasps!

9 While walking along the bridge for a kilometer back and forth, you burn a lot of calories, including because of the stairs.

10 The Skypark project is a joint Russian-New Zealand project, but we will talk about this a bit later. The bridge itself was completely designed by the Russians, and the details for it were made at Energomash.

11 The structure is supported by eight cables, each of which is able to withstand how many thousand tons. The authors of the project claim that the bridge is able to hold even on one such cable, and the chances that all seven will break, as you understand, are minimal. Some seismological tests were also carried out. Wind and snow with rain should not interfere with performance, although the park, of course, will not work in severe frosts. And the PR manager of the amusement park boasted that he was able to withstand a load of 30 thousand people. Which just won't fit here :)

12 Visitors are delighted, just a walk is an adventure. And you can jump off the bridge and stay alive and healthy!

13 Now the park is working in a test mode, when all the attractions open, a restaurant and a cafe will appear on the other side, the cost of a day ticket will be a thousand rubles. For this money, you can at least a hundred times to pass the bridge back and forth. And some activities like climbing around the rope town, it seems, will be included there. Well, compare with 950 rubles at a time to climb the summer cable car in Krasnaya Polyana.

14 I am not afraid of heights at all, but I know that for many this is a problem. I saw that for some visitors this is a whole test. It is easier for children, they perceive a lot as a game, besides, they do not see all the fear because of their small stature.

15 Now about jumping off the bridge. No, this is not a joke, but extreme entertainment. It's called "toy" bungee jumping, and it was invented in New Zealand by a man named AJ Hackett. The inveterate traveler has seen enough of how the local natives have fun on the giant bungee jumping from a height into a cliff and also decided to try it. Among the natives, this had some kind of ritual character, and Hackett decided to turn it into entertainment, and at the same time his life's work. The essence is simple: you are tied by the legs to a long rubber rope, and then you just jump down.

16 Yes, like this, right into the abyss! Bach - the ground disappears under your feet, you remember that you didn’t take spare shorts on the trip ... but you are already flying, fear replaces bewilderment, and then delight. But it will be after. You realize with your head that the thing is safe, but the sphincter is compressed more and more .... After the maximum stretch of the rope, instead of hanging in the air, you start fall up!!! It will not work to convey in other words, it bounces you, and only then you are left hanging, tied up by the legs with a rope. Represented?

17 Chair - yes, dental. And the park staff are real New Zealanders who have eaten not a single kangaroo on this. There are Russians too. However, no one could persuade me to do this jump, I just understand that life is fun without it.

18 "First Timers" have to be persuaded just before the jump. Already dressed, shod, ready to jump. But taking the first step is very difficult. Deciding looking from the outside does not mean stepping into the abyss!

19 Decided!

20 The lady with the tiger even turned away so as not to lookto this horror

21 Compare the girl's face before and after the jump.

22 Martin I was scared at first too...

23 And then he took it and jumped! By the way, it’s not a cheap pleasure - the first jump costs 5 thousand rubles, the next ones are already cheaper, and in any of the AJ Hackett bungee jumping centers, and there are twenty of them around the world. But people easily give this money for impressions, because emotions and memories are much more expensive.

24 Dmitry is one of the people who built this bridge: he also persuaded Hackett to open the first such bungee club in Russia. But it doesn’t look like a hard extreme :)

25 In a word, in the mountains around Sochi there are many much more interesting things than stillborn resort towns with unsold apartments :) And about completely unbanal sights Greater Sochi I will tell you in the next report.

The longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world is in Sochi! July 25th, 2014

Everyone who has traveled through the abyss many times with movie characters can now overcome their fear and conquer space in reality by walking along the SkyBridge - the longest suspension pedestrian bridge in the world: its length is 439 meters.

Skybridge spread out into picturesque place Akhshtyrsky Gorge above the Mzymta River at an altitude of 207 meters above the ground.

Let's take a closer look at it...

A walk along the bridge will bring a lot of emotions to every guest of the park: from excitement to delight. Crossing the bridge to the other side of the gorge, you will enjoy panoramic views of incredible beauty. On one side of the bridge you will see snow-capped peaks Caucasus Mountains, on the other - the Black Sea coast.

The ambitious bridge project was developed jointly by Russian and New Zealand architects. Design and research took 3 years. Construction lasted 2 years. During the construction of the bridge, 740 tons of metal structures and 2,000 cubic meters of concrete were used. SkyBridge is designed according to all safety standards with a large margin: it is able to withstand a 9-magnitude earthquake, hurricane wind, rain, snow and icing at the same time.

Photo 4.

Skybridge is intended both for visiting tourists with the aim of hiking and enjoying panoramic views, as well as for the entertainment of lovers of bungee jumping. With a special launch pad you can make a jump with an elastic rope (bungee) 69 meters long - such an attraction is called "Bungy 69 m".

There are two viewing platforms on the bridge. One of them is in the middle of the building. It is here for thrill-seekers that the main attractions of SKYPARK are located - BUNGY 69m, BUNGY 207m, SochiSwing 170m, MegaTroll 150 km/h. And every visitor to the park from the bridge will be able to watch the jumps and flights over the gorge. Or maybe he decides to jump.

The skybridge was jointly designed by Russian and New Zealand architects and built as part of the AJ Hackett skypark. The bridge is held by eight metal cables weighing 700 tons, it took 2 years and 2000 cubic meters of concrete to build it. The project passed all the required tests and was recognized as safe: the bridge is able to withstand an earthquake of up to 9 points and the simultaneous presence of three thousand people.

On February 7th, 2014, a whole complex of extreme entertainment will start working
- AJ Hackett Sochi. The AJ Hackett project has existed since 1988, with a total of this moment there are 5 such sites in Germany, France, China, Australia and Singapore.

Bungy jumping (Bungy) - there will be two options - jumping from a special platform located at a height of 60 meters, designed for different jumping options. For the more daring, jumping from a gondola in the middle of the bridge that hangs 200 meters above the ground is the most high altitude for bungee jumping in Russia (in the world, only China has a larger one - 233 meters)!

Pendulum (Swing) - these giant swing with a radius of 160 meters - the largest in the world, will take you out of your comfort zone and make you scream.

Modern architecture tries to keep up with the ancient one not only in the beauty of the embodiment, but also in the grandeur of the designs. This fully applies to suspension bridges, which are often built in the most hard-to-reach places, and the length of which can exceed a kilometer. This refers to the length of one span, and not the entire bridge structure in the aggregate.

1. Akashi-Kaikyo (1991 m, Japan)

Akashi-Kaikyo is the longest suspension bridge in the world, which is thrown over the Akashi Strait and connects the city of Kobe located on the island of Honshu with the city of the same name located on the island of Awaji. It became the third highway connecting Shikoku and Honshu. Prior to the appearance of this bridge in the Akashi Strait, ferry crossing, but it often turned out to be dangerous due to the fact that severe storms often occur in the strait. For example, only in 1955, 2 ferries sank here as a result of a storm, and 168 children became victims of this disaster.
At first, the Japanese wanted to build a double - automobile and railroad bridge, but in 1986, after the start of preparatory work, the project was reduced, leaving only a 6-lane road bridge. Construction actually began in 1988 and continued for a decade. Initially, two concrete bases for the bridge pylons were mounted at the bottom of the strait. Two huge round shapes were assembled on the shore, after which they were flooded into right places. This had to be done very precisely, fighting against a strong current in the strait, but the installers coped with this task with honor, not allowing deviations of more than 10 cm. To build the bridge, they developed a special concrete recipe that would not be carried away by sea water during pouring.
The next important step was the stretching of the cables. To do this, it was necessary to stretch a guide cable from one pylon to another, which was done using a helicopter. Both cables were stretched by 1995, after which it was the turn of the preparation of the roadbed. But then unexpectedly on January 17, 1995, a strong earthquake measuring 7.3 points occurred in the Kobe region. The pylons successfully withstood it, but not the bottom of the strait, which moved slightly, dragging one of the pylons with it by 1 meter. All calculations were broken. Engineers proposed to make the beams of the roadway longer and increase the distance between the guys hanging from the main cables. Delayed by only a month, construction work was continued, and in 1998 the roadbed was also ready.
The bridge cost the Japanese 500 billion yen, so the toll on it turned out to be rather big - 2300 yen. Every day, 25,000 cars pass through it, although there are people who, in order to save money, still use the ferry or travel by bus.

2. Xihoumen (1650 m, China)

Between the islands of Jintan and Tzezi of the Chinese Zhoushan archipelago, the Sihoumen suspension bridge was thrown. Its construction began in 2005. Its main span was built at the end of 2007, and at the end of 2009 the bridge was already in test mode, and then the first car drove over it. The length of the main span became the second in the world among hanging structures. Due to the collision of the ship with the bridge support, its opening shifted by about a month. The total length of all elements of the bridge is 5.3 km, its main part is 2.6 km, and the main section is 1.65 km. Bridges currently being designed or under construction greater length. The construction of the Xihoumen Bridge was financed by Zhejiang Province, which spent almost 2.5 billion yuan on it.

3. Great Belt (1624 m, Denmark)

The Great Belt Suspension Bridge in Denmark is striking in its scope. It rightfully became the longest of its kind in Europe. The Great Belt Bridge passes over the strait of the same name and connects the islands of Zealand and Funen. Its construction began in 1988 and ended in 1998. The total cost of the project reached 21.4 billion Danish kroner. After the bridge was put into operation, the travel time between the islands was reduced by more than an hour, and freight and Passenger Transportation between western and eastern parts Denmark has grown significantly. If earlier up to 8,000 cars crossed the strait daily on the ferry, now 27,600 of them pass through the bridge.
This bridge is of great importance for the whole of Denmark as a whole. Thanks to his appearance, the road from the capital of Copenhagen to different cities began to take much less time: to Odense - 75 minutes, to Aarhus - 2.5 hours, to Aalborg - about 4 hours. The presence of the bridge made it possible to abandon domestic flights between the capital and Odense, Aalborg, Aarhus, Esbjerg. Now the main transport in all these directions has become a train.
The connection of the Great Belt and Øresund bridges provided land communications between Scandinavia and continental Europe. After the appearance of the bridge, there were significantly more trips by car and trains between eastern Denmark and Germany, Germany and Sweden. The Great Belt became the first and so far the only Danish toll road, in 2013 to drive on it on passenger car it was possible for 33 euros or 235 Danish kroner.

4. Osman Gazi Bridge (1550 m, Turkey)

In Turkey, in 2016, the construction of a very long Osman Gazi suspension bridge was completed. This bridge spans the Gulf of Izmit and is used as a highway between major Turkish cities Bursa and Gebze. The total length of this bridge reaches 2682 m, and the main span - 1550 m. It began to be built in 2013 and, despite the complexity of its design, the work was completed in only about 3 years.

5. Lee Sunsin (1545 m, Republic of Korea)

On south coast On the Korean Peninsula, across the harbor separating the cities of Yeosu and Gwangyang, the Li Sunsin suspension bridge is thrown, the main span of which is one of the ten longest similar structures in the world and is the leader in the most South Korea. It is the road leading to the Yeosu industrial complex. The bridge was named after the Korean naval commander Li Sunsin. The total length of the bridge is 2260 m. Construction began in 2007, and five years later cars began to run along it.

6. Junyang (1490 m, China)

the Yangtze River Chinese province Jiangsu crosses the complex bridge structure, southern part which became the Junyang Suspension Bridge. This place is located 45 kilometers east of Nanjing. In addition to the suspension bridge, the complex has cable-stayed bridge located to the north. They are elements of the high-speed road connecting Beijing and Shanghai. In the name of the bridge, the beginnings of two names are connected - Zhunzhou (now Zhenjiang) and Yangzhou.
When the Junyang Suspension Bridge was built in 2005, its 1490-meter main span became the second longest in China and the fourth in the world. The pylons of the bridge shot up to a height of 215 meters, its width is 39.2 meters, 6 lanes for cars and two more narrow sidewalks along the edges of the canvas, intended for technical purposes, fit on its roadbed. On average, the roadbed of this bridge hangs 50 meters above the surface of the water.

7. Fourth Nanjing Bridge (1418 m, China)

The Fourth Nanjing Bridge spans the mighty Yangtze River and its tributary Baimiao. It links two neighboring regions big city Nanjing - Qixia and Luhe. In terms of the length of the main span, it took the third place in China, and its total length reaches 5437 meters. The height of the main pylons of this suspension bridge reaches 229 meters. The bridge has two approaches, between which the main suspension span over the Yangtze channel is wedged. After that, a section over land begins and another crossing of the river - now a tributary of the Baimiao.
For Jiangsu Province, the Fourth Nanjing Bridge was the first bridge with a suspension structure. Thanks to its appearance, it has become much easier traffic situation in such big city like Nanjing. It not only connected the urban areas, but also connected the expressways between Shanghai and Nanjing and between Nantong and Nanjing through the ring road. There are 6 traffic lanes on the bridge - three in each direction, cars can reach speeds of up to 125 kilometers per hour on them. The cost of this project reached 6.8 billion yuan.

8. Humber (1410 m, UK)

In England, not far from Kingston upon Hull, the fifth largest suspension single-span bridge in the world, the Humber, was built. It is thrown across the estuary of the rivers Ouse and Trent, on south coast which is the town of Barton-on-the-Humber, and in the north - Hessle. Thus the counties of North Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire were united. Every week, an average of 120,000 vehicles pass over this bridge. A one-way fare for a passenger car costs £2.7, while for trucks it costs a little more.

9. Bridge of Sultan Selim Yavuz (1408 m, Turkey)

Nestled in the Caucasus Mountains, Georgia is small but very beautiful country. The Georgians themselves love their homeland very much and sing it in wonderful ...

The bridge of Sultan Selim Yavuz (which means Terrible in translation) became the third bridge thrown across the Bosphorus, north of Istanbul. Selim I Yavuz was an Ottoman sultan who ruled from 1512-1520.
This bridge began to be built in the spring of 2013 and completed three years later, opening traffic on it in August 2016. He became integral part Northern Marmari ring road, which is currently under construction. It is distinguished by a combined design: in some places the canvas is supported by cables, in others cables are added to them, and the middle of the main span is suspended exclusively on cables. This bridge is the widest in the world. suspension bridge, its canvas has 8 lanes for traffic (4 in both directions), and in addition to them, there are two more railway tracks. The pylons of the bridge have risen to 322 meters, which is also a record figure. Approximately $3 billion was spent on the construction of the bridge.

10. Jiangyin (1385 m, China)

At the time of the construction of this bridge, it was closest to the mouth of the Yangtze River, but later a couple more bridges were built downstream - the Shanghai Bridge with a tunnel and the Sutong Bridge. The bridge is located in the middle of Jiangsu province, it serves traffic on two national expressways: east coast it is the Tongjiang-Sanya Expressway and to the west is the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway. On the bridge, in addition to six traffic lanes (3 in both directions), there are also pedestrian sidewalks. For its construction, the narrowest place in the riverbed was chosen. The bridge deck rises 50 meters above the water.
The completion of the bridge was timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Chinese Revolution of 1947. For Chinese designers, this bridge was the longest they have ever designed. The foundation of the bridge was laid in 1994 and took less than three years to design and build. The pylons of the bridge are 190 meters high (the height of a 60-story skyscraper). The main span of the bridge is a steel plate with a smooth bend. In total, more than 2.7 billion yuan was spent on the construction of the bridge, and its grand opening took place on September 28, 1999.
