Reports of strange sounds, wailing, screaming and footsteps being heard in the forest have been commonplace for generations, along with rumors of moving phenomena between the trees at night.

To end the curse, in 2003 the villagers of Naubautau held a reconciliation ceremony with the descendants of the murdered missionary to try to make amends for what their ancestors had done to Reverend Baker and his group. Apparently it didn't help.

She had lost her only daughter fifteen years earlier. The medium claimed that misfortunes were sent to the Winchester family by the ghosts of those who were killed from weapons manufactured by their company. To get rid of them, he advised the widow to move from Connecticut to another state and build a huge house with many rooms there - to confuse the ghosts. Mrs. Winchester followed the medium's instructions exactly. And since she believed that her life would end at the moment when the construction was completed, the house was constantly rebuilt: one after another, stairs appeared, resting on the ceiling, doors leading to nowhere, partitions of incomprehensible purpose and openings where an adult squeezes with difficulty. On reflection, they decided that they could not do without otherworldly forces: in order for the monastery not to collapse, a sacrifice is needed, and it will be one of the wives of the builders who will be the first to bring her husband dinner. The young wife of the youngest mason came first. She was immured alive in the monastery wall. Since then, the restless soul of the unfortunate woman has been wandering around the monastery.

Loshitsa estate

The most famous ghost of Minsk lives in the Loshitskaya estate, where the wife of Evstafy Lyubansky, a maternal descendant of the Prushinsky nobles, drowned herself in the most beautiful place in the park. The husband was constantly busy at work, and the young Jadwiga, out of boredom, started an affair with the Minsk governor A.N. Musin-Pushkin. The novel was stormy and widely discussed in the world. On the eve of the revolutionary events of 1905, the official was recalled to St. Petersburg. But he did not stop communicating with Jadwiga - several times a day, dispatches began to arrive in Loshitsa from the capital of the empire, which could not but resent the woman’s legal spouse. One evening, after a quarrel with her husband, Jadwiga ran out of the house and went to the river. What happened next, no one knows: perhaps she herself threw herself into the river, perhaps it happened by accident. After some time, Pan Lubansky, who went along with all his servants in search of his wife, found Jadwiga's lifeless body in the river not far from the estate.

Before leaving for the Caucasus, Pan Lyubansky planted an apricot near the river, where Yadwiga's body was found. It is said that at the time of the apricot blossom, the ghost of Mrs. Lyubanskaya appears in the park.

Based on simple logic, we can draw a simple conclusion: ghosts appear after someone dies somewhere. However, it must be taken into account that in the entire history of mankind there have been so many deaths that ghosts, probably, should have been found at every turn.

But it doesn't, and here's why. Firstly, not all the dead become ghosts, and secondly, they love solitude, therefore they prefer sparsely populated quiet places. Thirdly, not every person can see a ghost: only those who have a special psychic gift have this ability. Fourth, ghosts appear where there is a lot of emotional energy. In other words, many phenomena are nothing but the memory of a place. This is especially true of ghosts from the battlefields.

Based on sightings recorded over the years, the haunts of ghosts can be classified in this way.

Places of execution. In past centuries, people were often put to death in public on central squares, but there they, oddly enough, usually do not appear. They were also executed at crossroads so that the ghost would get confused and could not return and take revenge. Therefore, at the ancient crossroads at night one could often see desperate souls rushing about.

When it came to hanging, as a rule, a thick, strong tree was chosen, usually an elm or an oak. Therefore, many such trees subsequently earned a reputation as bad places where the ghosts of the hanged are found.

Cemeteries. It would seem more natural place for haunting ghosts and hard to find. However, this is not the case, because people rarely die right in the cemetery. Usually only one real ghost can be found on the churchyard. This is the same guard, the "cemetery watchman" - the soul of the first of the dead buried in this place. In antiquity in Western Europe there was even a custom: at the foundation of a new cemetery, in order to provide it with a reliable watchman, a person was sacrificed.

In addition, in the cemetery you can see and hear semi-ghosts - more precisely, manifestations of ghostly activity: incomprehensible rustles, wandering lights, etc. Although sometimes these are just some kind of natural phenomena.

There are in the cemetery and special place, in particular the northern, the most uncomfortable and gloomy part of it. Suicides were buried there: it was believed that their souls would not find rest either on earth or in heaven. They became frightening ghosts.

Ghosts on the battlefields. Of course, the battlefield is one of the most suitable places for the appearance of phantoms. People die in a relatively small space, and many soldiers lie unburied for a long time. Such places include the Marathon in Greece, Waterloo in Belgium, Dunkirk in France, the Volokolamsk Highway near Moscow, the Kursk Bulge and many others. On such scary areas you can hear the groans of the wounded, the noise of exploding shells, the sound of bayonets or sabers. Ghostly armies tend to continue their battle on the anniversaries of the most heated battles.

Ghosts of catastrophes. There are many cases when people saw the ghosts of the victims of a disaster, both after it and before the event itself. You can see the victims of sea and air elements or those who died on the roads. Particularly sensitive people can feel the future catastrophe in any place in a few days, or even earlier.

Old houses. Such places are traditionally considered the habitat of ghosts. It is believed that in the past something happened there that tied the souls of people to this place. It could be murder or some other serious crime. Also, ghosts can be found in the house if suffering or simply unhappy people used to live there.

What's going on in haunted houses? According to eyewitnesses, such phenomena occur there: ghostly figures suddenly appear in the rooms, capable of passing through walls (by the way, ghosts always move in the same way as in life, regardless of how the house was rebuilt, which is why it sometimes seems that a ghostly figure walks up a staircase that does not exist; this also explains the ability of spirits to pass through walls);

The ghost of a deceased relative in such houses can suddenly materialize near his portrait, which at that time will be empty;

Traces of incomprehensible origin may appear on the stairs, floors creak and sounds resembling someone's heavy steps are heard;

Various objects move and fall, strange sounds, blows, ringing are heard;

The clock strikes thirteen times;

A blood stain appears on the floor that cannot be removed;

Moaning or crying is heard;

The chandelier begins to sway so violently that its component parts fly off.

Ghosts can also settle on various vehicles including on ships. There are many stories about ghost ships gliding silently across the water surface. It is believed that the ship on which the spirits settled is doomed to death.

Today, places where ghosts appear are more common and not as sinister as in past centuries (with the exception of TV murder sites). modern perfume do not avoid big cities, daylight and traffic, often appear in a crowd of people. They can also benefit from modern technology and amenities. Everyday life on a par with the living, although they rarely do ego.

Several phantoms of unknown origin appear at night in big department stores(in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, in some cities of France and the USA), causing panic among the guards, since when they occur, the tracking video equipment is blocked for 1-2 seconds. Both before and now, an alarm was announced, but it always turned out to be false, since no one has yet been able to detect traces of the "intruders".

In some cases, the videotape recorded slowly moving clouds of faintly flickering sparks, a little less than human growth. The guards sometimes heard sounds reminiscent of duck quacking, however, the recordings on the tape recorders for some reason disappeared. As some researchers note, parapsychologists also found persistent energy anomalies in the zone of the appearance of ghosts.
