The most picturesque beach in South Goa. The best beaches in Goa - cheerful hippies in the North, small children in the South

If you are going to Goa for the sea and beaches, do not miss this article. I will tell you about all the beaches north goa, I will share their characteristics, location on the map, personal photos and videos and my opinion about each beach, if you are interested. The opinion is subjective. Goa is different for everyone.

12 beaches of North Goa - review, photo, video

Kerim Beach - the northernmost beach

There are no palm trees on Kerim Beach. Coniferous trees grow there, which create an unusual mystical landscape on the beach. Plus sparsely populated, light sand and green deep sea. Kerim Beach is mesmerizing. Only a complete introvert and a desperate lover of solitude and peace can stay there for a long time.

There are a couple of cafes on Kerim Beach, it is easy to find guest houses nearby. For shopping and entertainment, it is better to go to neighboring Arambol.

The sea on Kerim is beautiful, but dangerous. Waves often, depth starts immediately. Not the most the best place for holidays with young children.

Kalacha Beach - Beach of the Beatles and Sweet Lake

Kalacha Beach is famous for its Sweet Lake, unusual landscape, big stones in the sea and the banyan tree under which the Beatles smoked and meditated. There are serious doubts about the latter fact. But the rest is all right. And the landscape, and the lake, and beauty.

On the beach there is a cafe, several bungalows and a small market.

The sea is different - when big waves and when - quiet and smooth.

Arambol - a beach of yogis, enlightened and found themselves

The most controversial beach in North Goa is Arambol. The first time I came to Goa, I fell in love with Arambol. The last time he disappointed me.

As for the beach and the sea itself, Arambol is unusually beautiful. A long and wide sandy beach, a long entry into the sea, the blue color of the water merging with the sky - it takes your breath away.

The village of Arambol has many shops, guest houses, hotels, cafes and restaurants. Prices for everything are higher than the average for North Goa.

Arambol is good for families with children - the sea is so beautiful, there is infrastructure, parties of mothers with babies and even sour cream in stores.

Arambol is good for those who like to go into the astral plane with the help of special means. It's easy to find a hangout and everything else.

Arambol is good for creative people, for yogis, for those who are looking for themselves.

Mandrem - the beach of glamorous scum

Mandrem goes after Arambol. The same sea and the same beach line. Real hotels and show-off restaurants have been built in Mandrem. You can even meet people in white pants and hats there.

Prices in Mandrem are not lower than in Arambol. Many Russians. Few European pensioners. Quiet, calm, imposing.

Ashvem - the most beautiful beach in North Goa

It is impossible to describe in words why Ashvem is better than neighboring beaches. But it is definitely different from the rest of the North Goa beaches. Either the air there is different, or the wind, or the current brings mysticism and the desire to fly. There are few shacks and bungalows on the beach itself. And this is probably why the slightly deserted beach of Ashvem is fascinating.

My favorite place in North Goa today.

Morjim - the most pontoon and expensive beach

The Russian village and all that. There, the cult director Pyotr Buslov came up with the idea to make the film “Motherland” about Russians in Goa. Buslov lived in Goa, in Morjim for several seasons, so he studied the theme of the film perfectly.

The sea in Morjim is like in Arambol. A lot of party places, many guest houses and many Russians.

Vagator - the beach of Shiva and sacred cows

The second beach in my personal top of North Goa beaches. Moreover, Vagator and Ashvem are almost on the same level. Although externally the beaches are different.

Black stones scattered in disorder along the beach create a fantastic landscape. Cows love this place too. And on Vagator, be sure to find the famous face of Shiva.

Anjuna - the beach of the last hippies

Anjuna is a favorite place for party-goers, young and old. The famous market days take place here, when the Flea Market is open on Wednesdays. Here, by the sea, songs ring from coastal cafes, here they break away and forget all the sorrows and hardships of the cold homeland.

I don't like the sea in Anjuna - a lot of stones, some kind of algae. But you can find a place to swim if you wish.

Baga is the most civilized beach in North Goa

Baga is a village for glamorous vacationers, lovers of nightclubs and expensive cafes. Prices are the highest in all of North Goa.

The beach is different from the beaches of Arambol or Mandrem. The sand here is yellow, the sea is deep. In Baga, on one side of the beach, there is a cape and a river along the cape. Thanks to this cape, there are almost no big waves in Baga. Swimming is comfortable and fun, even when there are huge waves in neighboring Calangute and Candolim.

Calangute is the most visited beach in North Goa

Calangute never sleeps! It's fun, partyy and relaxed at the same time. This is the favorite beach of European pensioners. There are enough of our bags here too. Among independent tourists, Calangute is not particularly honored.

Calangute has the most shops, supermarkets, cafes, expensive hotels and cheap guesthouses.

The sea is deep almost immediately, the sand on the beach is yellow and loose.

Candolim - the most convenient beach

Candolim is similar to Calangute. The same beach line, the same sea, the same guest houses, the same pensioners. There are no problems in choosing accommodation, with renting a bike, with local street food, with pizza or a burger, with Tibetan cuisine, with pharmacies. Internet in Candolim and Calangute is the best among all places in North Goa.

Sinkerim - a beach with history

Which beach in North Goa is suitable for families with children

  1. Arambol
  2. Candolim
  3. Morjim
  4. Mandrem

Because a good safe beach, shallow sea, there are shops with the usual products and cafes with a Russian menu. It is easy to find friends for yourself and your child.

Which beach in North Goa should an organized tourist stay on?

  1. Vagator
  2. Calangute
  3. Candolim

Because a lot tour agencies, supermarkets, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, casinos and decent hotels.

And the last thing - even if you stopped for the entire vacation on one beach, take a ride on the rest of the beaches of North Goa. This is the only way to find your beach and your favorite place.

You can book a hotel in Goa both on the spot and on the Internet. Booking is full of hotels and guesthouses.

Flights to Goa

And if you have not yet decided on tickets to Goa, look in the table for the cheapest fares for regular flights in Goa.

The coastline of the southwestern part of India, running along the Arabian Sea, is occupied by Goa co capital city of Panaji. Conventionally, it is divided into two parts. Territory north of the fort Aguada is called North Goa. The main advantage of this part of the state is its beaches, which stretch almost in a continuous line for 30 kilometers. The beach areas of North Goa are heterogeneous in their status.

Below are best beaches North Goa and their description.

Tiracol

Most northern beach in state. Its length is about 5 km. Covered with small shells. Due to the fact that the beach is located at a distance from the main places of recreation, it is not particularly visited by tourists. But perhaps that is precisely its charm. Those who come here are just looking for solitude and tranquility. Fort Tiracol was built over the beach who gave the beach its name. It now houses the Heritage Hotel.

Due to the small number of people on its territory, various marine life is found there in the form of birds, crabs, turtles and snakes. They go ashore to bask and rummage near the water in natural debris brought by the sea and not removed by anyone.

Arambol

This wide sandy beach, stretching for several kilometers, is located a little south of Tiracol. It is separated from the mainland by a rocky ridge through which a narrow path leads to the beach area. The sand is fine and pleasant. The attraction of the beach is a small freshwater lake.. It is especially beautiful here during sunset.

It so happened that at one time this beach was glorified by the first hippies, who came to these places during their search for true values. They say that The Beatles came here too.. Since then, it has happened that Arambol has become the most crowded in the entire district. A mass is built around it cheap hotels, cottages and entertainment establishments such as cafes, bars, various yoga and dance schools. Very often this beach is visited by citizens of Russia.

Above the beach is Arambol beach village. Locals try to take full advantage of the crowded beach by selling souvenirs and items to vacationers. national clothes. Numerous beggars roaming around it also enjoy the crowds.

Mandrem

This beach, bordering Arambol, is strikingly distinguished by its calmness. The noisiest companies gather on Arambol, and people gather here, seekers of solitude and serenity. In addition, this is a favorite vacation spot for parents with small children. Quiet environment and easy access to the beach are disposed to it.

Mandrem is a long sand strip along the sea with numerous shallow natural pools with sea water. The water heated in them by the sun is conducive to bathing small children.

Additional charm is given to Mandrem two small streams, between which he, in fact, is located. Moreover, one of them flows along the beach, and for passage to the shore, local residents built bamboo bridges.

Near the beach there is a village of the same name, where you can stay. Finding accommodation here is very easy. The price depends on its condition and season. Before nearest beaches Arambol and Ashvem with more developed infrastructure 10-15 minutes drive.

Ashvem

This smooth clean beach covered with light sand, almost without rocky ledges. Just like on Mandrem, there are natural pools in which children love to swim.

The beach is designed for people with increased income, although the quality of service is at the usual level. They just protect it from annoying merchants and beggars. Because of this, Ashvem is considered the most quiet and peaceful place. You can have fun by doing kiting.

Fans of a more luxurious holiday can stay at the Para-Jolly boutique hotel, which is located right on the beach. budget housing very hard to find here. Prices for it are above average in these places. Ashvem will be a justified choice if you want to live surrounded by a wealthy public.

Morjim

This three-kilometer-long gently sloping sandy beach has long been considered a Russian village or "Moscow Beach" here. The fact is that 80% of its visitors are Russians who came here to relax or live here permanently.

The service is also designed for the Russian contingent: in the menu of restaurants - the correct inscriptions in Russian for Russian dishes; local merchants speak Russian quite tolerably and diligently replenish their vocabulary with new words. The local Russian diaspora often arranges their parties here, inviting capital DJs to them.

The beach is ideal for windsurfing and kiting. due to light wind, sun and moderate seas. Morjim is considered the most expensive place because of the cottages built here with increased comfort. But the beach is always clean, and the sea is warm and clear. In addition, it is a kind of nature reserve. There is a place where sea turtles come to lay their eggs.

Vagator

This one is pretty big beach not very suitable for swimming. Here m many stones protruding from the sand, which reduce it tourist attraction. This is especially annoying underwater. Rocky remains divide its territory into three parts: Large, Medium and Small Vagators. You need to go down to the beach along the path that goes along the slope of a steep hill. Because of such natural features it is rarely visited, although there are quite a lot of tourists in the nearby villages of Vagator and Chapora. This is explained by the fact that the village of Vagator was the second most popular among European hippies, and since then their followers have been constantly coming to these places.

Of the notable attractions here are ruins of the portuguese fort of Chapora And the face of the god Shiva carved on the beach. The fort offers a wonderful view of the Juari River, on the other side of which is the comfortable Morjim Beach.

If we compare Vagator with Arambol, although it is worse suited for swimming, prices correspond to Arambol. This beach is visited mainly by the local population.

Anjuna

At one time this place was the best among sandy beaches south of Chapora. Now, due to algae, underwater rocks and tidal features of the area, it has become much less popular, although it is quite pleasant in itself. The main glory of this place is in the hippies and the most popular on the coast Anjuna Market. At this weekly fair, open every Wednesday, you can buy a wide variety of local souvenirs, clothes, precious metal products made by local craftsmen. The initial prices on the market are high, but if you bargain, they can be reduced by 2-3 times.

How the memory of the first hippies work here night clubs "Paradise" and "Dolce Vita". In fact, even now in Anjuna you can see both rastafarians and hippies. Housing and food prices are quite reasonable, so you won’t have to deny yourself anything.

Baga

It got its name from the river Baga, which flows nearby. This beach with yellow sand and crystal clear waters is Indian clone of Turkish Antalya with its classic beach areas. The relatively small Baga is full of sun loungers, around which restaurants and hotels are located. Here you can enjoy livability and exotic natural landscapes.

Despite the fact that there are very party-type beaches Vagator and Anjuna nearby, Baga - the territory of tranquility. Due to the good amenities, the beach is a very visited place. Because of this, the prices here (in particular, for food and soft drinks) are quite high. However, if you move a little further from the sea, they decrease significantly.

The national composition of Baga tourists is the most diverse, and among the total number there are Russians (although not as many as on Morjim) and citizens of India.

Calangute

This is a crescent-shaped sandy beach, stretching for 7 kilometers and almost merging with its northern neighbor Baga. In fact, Calangute is a whole beach town on the coast. Its territory is well organized. For lovers of classic relaxation, sun loungers, cafes, restaurants, masseurs, and a lot of hotels are prepared. Because of this, Calangute is considered a hotel center for organized tourists. It's always crowded here.

Like many others, this beach was opened to the world by hippies. Now they have been pushed to more remote and less comfortable places by ordinary commercial tourists. Nevertheless, there are a lot of all kinds of entertainment establishments, which is why the beach is considered quite noisy. Previously, there were noisy parties here, sometimes lasting throughout the night. Now the local police strictly regulated such events.

In May and October in Calangute sharply increasing number of local Indian tourists. At this time, the holiday season begins in India.

Local attractions include "Kerkar" - art gallery where local artists exhibit their paintings. In addition, once a week it hosts evenings dedicated to Indian dances.

Candolim

The beach attracts with its special respectability, and the atmosphere here is calmer than on Calangute. More expensive furnishings make Candolim a secular place, which increases its rating in the elderly. An additional plus is the protection of the territory from merchants and street beggars.

Candolim is close in quality to the beaches of South Goa. Two Taj Group hotels have even been built here. Among its shortcomings are quite a steep descent to the shore. But at sea almost always is high waves which makes it attractive to water sportsmen.

Of the attractions it should be noted beautiful buildings in a colonial style, a pond with huge red lotuses and the ship River Princess, which has been sitting aground for many years.

Sinquerim

Another comfortable beach in North Goa. Proximity to the administrative center led to the appearance here well developed infrastructure, which includes luxury hotels, a beautifully equipped beach, a lot of beach activities.

The Indians of Sinakurim do not particularly favor their presence, but foreigners love it very much. However, despite such developed infrastructure there are few vacationers on the beach. Its major disadvantage is steep slope to the sea.

Aguada

The most south point North Goa - Aguada beach, well-groomed and a nice place. It is located next to the ancient Portuguese fort of the same name who once protected these places from pirates.

Around are respectable hotels and picturesque villages. The administrative center of the region - city of panjim located very close.

In North Goa, all beaches are public. The boundaries between them are rather arbitrary. The beaches seem to flow smoothly into each other. Only a few of them are separated by rivers or rocks. The landscape views that open from the coast of North Goa are not inferior in beauty to the famous world beaches.

The beaches of South Goa are slightly different from the beaches of North Goa, and therefore many tourists are interested in the question of where to go together, with children, or where it is better to go to rest for the elderly, so that the rest is complete and unforgettable. The place where the arrow landed was called Banali, which literally translates from Sanskrit as "the place where the arrow fell." Later the name was gradually transformed into Benaulim.

Cola beach

Located 8 km from Canaguinima. The whole area is divided into two parts - Little Kola and Big Kola. (Palolem Beach)
