Romantic Italy. My journey "Italy Romantica" (from north to south)

From September 24 to October 1, we took the excursion "Italy Romantica", the tour operator "Danko". We stayed at the Splendor Hotel in Rimini. The hotel is like a hotel. We were prepared for the worst after reading reviews about Italian hotels.

We arrived in Italy after lunch, met with the escort, and checked into a hotel. Bathing in the Adriatic Sea.

Trip to Venice. On the way, they immediately collected money from us for the boat Grand Canal and for headphones. The tour started with a glass blower. I really liked the Venetian glass jewelry. I regretted the money and didn’t buy it right away, and then changed my mind, but I didn’t find it in other places in Italy, alas ... Fans and umbrellas made of Burano lace are also sold only in Venice. We walked around St. Mark's Square, fed the pigeons and did not go to the Doge's Palace, again regretted the money, but it seems not in vain: those who were there said that only connoisseurs would like the palace. We paid 20 euros for gondolas (6 seats), but we only live once, so we decided to go.

Florence + Pisa. City tour. Guide Sergey, although he told fascinating, but gave a lot of information. Soon they got confused who came from where, where he lived, whom he married and when he died ... But in Florence there is an Internet cafe at every step, where we leaked pictures and called home. The city sells a lot of leather, shoes and gold. Placed in the hotel "Auto park". They specifically refused to stay in Montecatini Terme, thus gaining themselves a free evening in Florence.
We went to Pisa: for 2 hours we walked on our own along the one and only Square of Miracles, the city itself is small. Very inexpensive souvenirs and umbrellas with Pisan symbols, that is, with the Tower.

We went to Siena. Everything is beautiful, interesting, fast! The rest of the day is Florence again. We went to the Uffizi Gallery. Impressive! Although, we do not seem to be big art lovers.

Rome. On an excursion to the city you will go by metro if your hotel is not in the center. And he will not be in the center. We were placed in the hotel "Arhimede". A very decent hotel. Finally we waited buffet» for breakfast and a decent dinner at a nearby restaurant. Nearby (50 meters) - Termini station, there is a shopping center, there are a lot of shops in it (Mango, Sash, Motivi, Benetton, etc.). By the way, if you want to buy shoes, buy them in Florence, there are very few in Rome. In Rome, visited the Colosseum, the Roman Forums, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, bridges, fountains, squares. In the evening we went to the Night Rome.

Naples + Pompeii. We could not help but go, because we are not going to Italy anymore. So: Pompeii is just ruins. In Naples - time is short, but beautiful view on Gulf of Naples. They wanted to swim in the Tyrrhenian Sea, but they did not manage to find the only sandy beach that they read about in the reviews. All the rest coastline- huge cobblestones, between which a real dump is arranged.

Excursion to the Vatican: The Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museums, St. Peter's Basilica, Holy spring. It is something! Even without being strict believers, but rather sympathizers, we visited there with pleasure.
Return to Rimini, check-in at the same hotel. Evening swim in the Adriatic Sea.

Flight home.

Was in excursion tour from Solvex in May. You cannot choose a hotel in Rimini. Which one will be given. More often tour groups gets Gemini - it's something with something - the worst hotel in Rimini, but also the cheapest. But in Rome there is a choice - in the center or on the outskirts. Take in the center. I got the most luxurious hotel San Marco. 3 stars, but pulls on all 5! Be sure to take with dinner. When you arrive at night from excursions, your group guide-assistant still calls on the way and arranges when you arrive so that the tables are set. Now in order about excursions. First flight to Rimini. Before you check into your hotel, you will be taken to San Marino for a tasting. Where there is a tasting, everything is expensive. Up the mountain you can buy everything the same, but much cheaper. You will be given free time, you can run around the local shops. Clothes are expensive. Don't even look. What makes sense to buy is leather goods - bags, belts, purses. The higher up the mountain, the better. Then settlement. The next day - a trip to Venice. A sightseeing tour is included in the program, and an excursion to the Doge's Palace is optional. I took. I liked it very much. 3rd day - optional trip to Milan for the whole day. I didn't go. Departure at 4 am, arrival late in the evening. The road takes all day. Considering the gathering of people from different hotels, it's 8 hours there and the same back. It is not worth it. I spent a free day in Rimini. The next day - Rome through a stopover in Florence. Panoramic tour of Florence, with a visit to the Cathedral - according to the program. The rest is optional. I took a tour of the Pitti Palace. Didn't regret it. there is the world's largest collection of paintings by Raphael. Of course, I would like to visit the Uffizi, but for Russian tour groups organized excursions somehow not included. You don't have time to stand in line on your own. In Rome - 3 days. Be sure to take excursions to the Vatican, Christian Rome and the Colosseum with Palantine Hill (they are combined into one excursion). Order from your assistant. Save time. If you have excursions Maxim - the leading guide in Rome, PhD, our former compatriot - consider yourself lucky! This man is an encyclopedia! Optionally from Rome there is a trip to Naples. Also with an early departure, a long road. I didn't go. On this day, at the suggestion of my assistant, I took a trip to the Valmontore outlet. I liked it very much. It is not expensive (about 10-15 euros, I don’t remember). The price includes a transfer - 40 min. by minibus, at the entrance you receive a voucher for a free lunch and a capacious shopping bag as a gift. In the outlet you can really buy quality items at big discounts. They gave 4 hours for shopping, but they were not enough. Bought a lot of cool clothes in one place. So I didn't go shopping in Rome anymore. After 3 days in Rome - back to Rimini. Then - either departure or rest. I went on holiday separately. already in August. Now I will write a review in Top Hotels, on the Polo hotel. There I will write in detail about the recommendations where to go in Rimini. You can go and read. Have a nice holiday.

We went together with my wife, on the tour "Italy Romantica" from May 01 to May 08, 2010, the tour operator "Danko" For vouchers, along with visas, they paid about 60 thousand rubles for two.
Flew " Ural Airlines» on A-320. Contrary to expectations, I liked the airline. The planes, in my opinion, are not new, but externally in good condition, the service on board is good for charter flights. Certainly better than at Transaero. They flew there without delay (although the flight was delayed for three hours in front of us, in my opinion), the delay back was about an hour, which is tolerable.
Upon arrival at Rimini airport, we were met by representatives of "Danko", distributed by buses. My wife and I were in Anna's group. From the airport we were taken on a mini-excursion to San Marino. On the way, Anna told a little about San Marino, the history of the emergence of this state, its modern life. Upon arrival in San Marino, the whole group was taken to one of the shops, which allegedly offered to taste the "national" drinks of San Marino and buy them at a "ridiculous" low price. In fact, it was the first in a series of many “branded” Danko stores (or guides from Danko), in which all the goods offered were at least not cheaper, but as my wife and I later had the displeasure to make sure , sometimes cost an order of magnitude more expensive than in other stores. Apparently, either "Danko" or "Danko" guides have some percentage of these sales. After visiting this wonderful shop, Anna took us to the central square of the historical part of San Marino and left us for an hour and a half to explore local attractions, most of which were various shops.
After visiting San Marino, we were taken to Rimini, where we were accommodated in a terrible hotel "Helvetia Parco 3*". Remarks about this hotel are not a run-in with Danko, because using the example of another President hotel, we were able to make sure that all hotels in Rimini are equally terrible, with a combined toilet-shower with a drain hole in the floor and shabby furniture. Most of the hotels in Rimini are probably not even 2*. Breakfast was the same as the hotel in the morning. Nightmare! True, in the future we were settled, albeit on the outskirts of cities, but in good hotels(“Il Canova”, “ Holiday Inn”, “Holiday Inn Rome East”), solid fours. So Rimini in terms of resettlement turned out to be the only fly in the ointment.
The next day we were taken by bus to Venice. I really liked the city on the water for its unusualness, although many buildings look miserable due to the climate, it's still beautiful! Venice was followed by Florence with its beautiful cathedral, the Pitti Palace and the Uffizi Gallery. I recommend in your free time to climb for 8 euros per person to the dome cathedral. There with observation deck offers a beautiful view of the city. It is not advisable to do this for the elderly and sick people, since the ascent is physically quite difficult. We spent 2 days in Florence, we refused a trip to Pisa, so we had enough time to explore the city center.
After Florence, we were supposed to go through Siena to Rome, but the day before our group's departure, the bus broke down and we had a great opportunity to get acquainted with the service from Danko. The day before, our guide Anna warned everyone that the departure from the hotel was at 7.30 and that everyone was on the bus without delay (why she did this is not entirely clear, given that she already knew about the bus breakdown and that the Italians are not Russians and no one will repair the bus at night). By 7.30 the whole group had handed over their rooms, had breakfast and stood with suitcases in the hotel lobby. Then Anna announced that there would be no bus before 9 in the morning and that you could take the keys to the rooms again and get some sleep. It's not a question of what doesn't happen on the road. At 9 am Anna said that we should vacate the rooms and that the bus would be repaired by 11 o'clock. Again, no question, most people went to explore the nearest shops. At 11 o'clock it was said that the bus was about to arrive (like it is in a traffic jam 2 blocks away) and asked no one to go far. This went on until 2 pm. The whole group sat in the lobby or stood on the porch of the hotel for more than 3 hours, not daring to go anywhere far. During the waiting period, Anna said that either a bus from Rimini was sent to help us, or that our bus (repaired) was already around the corner, but could not get there. In the end, these "fairy tales" did not bother me and I called my travel agent in Moscow and asked him to find out in "Danko" what was happening and what would be the compensation for this jamb with the bus. Several other tourists from our group did the same. Imagine my surprise when my tour agent told me the words of the Danko representative that everything is fine with us, we ourselves do not understand how lucky we are and advised us to enjoy our vacation on the hotel porch. After that, I called Danko myself, in response to the girl from Danko, I heard the same thing, but when I asked the girl about her name, surname and position, they sharply answered me “Goodbye” (like “boy is free” ) and hung up. Similar answers were received by other tourists from our group, who "dared" to disturb the Danko employees with their "stupid" questions. In principle, of course, I didn’t expect anything supernatural from our operator (unfortunately, in our country, tour operators mostly work on the principle of pushing their tour and forgetting about the tourist), but still, if we write about the “exploits” of our tour operators, something might change over time better side.
In the end, at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the bus from Rimini reached us, and we were able to leave in the direction of Rome. "Danko" still did not cave in much, made a night tour of Rome free of charge (at a rate of 20 euros per person), although it seems to me that this is somehow not enough for more than a seven-hour wait. On the way we stopped for a couple of hours in the city of Siena. A beautiful city! I recommend everyone to visit his cathedral - a rival of the cathedral in Florence. Very beautiful! It seemed to me that stopping for 2 hours in this city is absolutely not enough. At least 5-6 hours, or even more.
We arrived in Rome late in the evening. The next day, my wife and I had a free day, as we with her refused an excursion to Naples and Pompeii. We dedicated this day to a walking tour of Rome. Unfortunately, due to a 7 hour delay in Florence, the sightseeing hiking in Rome was rescheduled by the operator for the last day, so during self walk around the city we are just unknowingly many interesting places didn’t visit, because for some reason Anna didn’t tell us about them beforehand. But we still enjoyed Rome very much. A good city. In the evening we had the night tour of Rome promised by Danko. True, the bus was late for her by 40 minutes and 20 people from the group stood and waited for him on the street in complete ignorance. The next day, which is also the last in Rome, we had an excursion to the Vatican, a walking sightseeing tour of Rome, after lunch we set off on our way back to Rimini.
Impressions from Italy are positive. Friendly people, lazy really (funny to hear after their siesta that Russians work less), beautiful architecture, rich story. All in all, interesting country. The only thing that marred the impression a little every day was bad weather, daily pretty heavy rains. I would like to come back here again, but not on such a “gallop across Europe” tour, but for seven days, for example, only to Rome. And of course, probably not with Danko. Although, as I wrote above, probably all operators are the same in their boorish attitude towards our tourist.
