Jeju Island: an expensive pearl of South Korea. Jeju Island, Korea: how to get there, beaches, tourist reviews

southern part The Korean Peninsula is occupied by the Republic of Korea. The country is in East Asia and borders on North Korea. Her possessions also include islands located near the Korean Peninsula. In the west, the state is washed by the waters of the Yellow Sea, and in the east by the Sea of Japan. In the south, it has access to the Korea Strait. The islands of South Korea are over three thousand coastal land areas.

a brief description of

by the most big island is Jeju in the Korea Strait. It is also considered the smallest Korean province. The administrative center of the island is the city of Jeju. The island is of volcanic origin. It has the highest point in South Korea - the Hallasan volcano, which reaches 1950 m. Jeju-do was the result of a volcanic eruption that occurred in ancient times. Therefore, it is formed mainly by lava and basalt. The nature of this island is considered unique and is under the protection of UNESCO. Excellent is possible in Jeju-do beach holiday. There is wonderful beaches, clear sea and beautiful tropical landscapes.

Natural features of the islands

The territory of South Korea has a mountainous terrain. Therefore, the country has many ski resorts. Despite the relief features, this area is not seismically dangerous. There are no earthquakes in Korea. But floods cause great damage to the state. They happen during the rainy season deep rivers come out of the coast.

Coastline country is very long. The Korean peninsula is indented with bays and gulfs. Near its shores there are at least 3,000 islands of South Korea. Many areas of land have a small area. They have no permanent population. In addition to Jeju Island, such islands as Ulleungdo and Ganghwado are considered large. After a volcanic eruption, the island of Ulleungdo appeared in the Sea of Japan. It is 120 km away from South Korea. The coast of this piece of land is a series of sharp rocks and impregnable slopes. Tourists come to Ulleungdo for climbing and fishing. Ganghwa Island is located in a place where the state borders on North Korea, at the mouth of the Hangang River. Fans of history come here to see the ancient dolmens and fortresses.

Weather

The islands of South Korea are mainly located in the temperate region. On the territory of the country, 4 seasons are clearly monitored. In the spring there are maximum quantity sunny days in a year. The rainy season continues in July and June. Jeju Island has a subtropical climate. It is warmer there than in the rest of Korea. The area is dry in winter and very humid in summer.

In the waters of the Korean Peninsula there are more than three and a half thousand of the most diverse islands belonging to South Korea.

The small islands of South Korea are mostly uninhabited and are located along the southern and west coast peninsulas. They arose as a result of violent volcanic activity that took place at the "dawn of time". For the most part, these island-rocks are occasionally covered with moss. Some of them separate one or two kilometers of water from the peninsula (in some cases even less). Fishing villages are located on more or less habitable islands. In the straits formed by the islands found big variety fish and all kinds of shellfish, which allows you to fish from any boat. The main direction of tourism here is fishing and mountain tourism. Most major islands South Korea: Jeju-do (2000 km²), Ganghwan-do (302 km²) and Ulleung-do (73 km²).

It is not possible to count the exact number of islands in South Korea, since the straits between some of them are either drained or filled up in order to expand habitable territories. The government helps people living in the island area. There, at the expense of the budget, electricity, sewerage and water are provided, schools for children are being built. A prime example is the island of South Korea - Hondo, in two fishing villages of which live, in total, about seven hundred people. Nevertheless, children go to the local school until the sixth grade, and there are all communications there.

The visiting card of tourism in the state of South Korea is Jeju Island, which is a pearl in the necklace of islands. It is both the smallest province and the most big Island. This is a kind of Mecca of marriage tourism. The island is filled with attractions: many museums, often with unexpected themes, vibrant shows for tourists, attract many visitors every year.

Jeju Island in South Korea (the prefix "do" in Korean means both an island and a province at the same time) is interesting for its matriarchy. While in mainland South Korea, women are fighting for their rights under absolute patriarchy, in Jeju, women are in charge. They are actually breadwinners and heads of families. Until recently, the profession of divers was the main one for the inhabitants of the coast of Jeju. The ability to dive without scuba gear to a depth of twenty meters was passed down from generation to generation from mother to daughter. Nowadays, there is a thriving business in Jeju to grow tangerines of all varieties, which is safer and more profitable.

kilometers on the island highways but it's better not to use local buses, and rent a car (which is quite affordable). Despite the bus service (announcing stops in several languages, indicating the time of travel between stations on special monitors, air conditioning and comfortable seats), the level of qualification of drivers leaves much to be desired.

Good day to all.

I want to tell for the first time about our trip to this wonderful land - Jeju. We had a rest for a long time (in 2010), but I, inspired by the local stories, decided to write. Do not judge strictly.

A little historical background.

Jeju , Jeju- largest island and the smallest province of South Korea . His administrative center- city Jeju.

This is "our" piece of the beach. Below are lifeguards, towels, showers, changing rooms, jacuzzis, hammocks, sofas for relaxation. BEAUTY!!!

It is forbidden to swim in SUCH waves!!!

View of the hotel from the ocean

Half of the pool is indoors in case of rain and cool weather. There are two jacuzzis on the street (water temperature 37 and 40 (!!) degrees), a Finnish sauna, a bar, tents ..

View from the window of the golf club (by the way, Koreans are very fond of playing golf and the island has some of the best courses in Asia and the world)

The hotel has everything for children. A small kids club, Playstation room (and small consoles and huge plasmas), a restaurant with a children's menu and a playroom for children. VERY convenient, one parent eats, the second in the playroom, older children themselves occupy themselves there: cartoons, games and toys. No one is pulling you, everything is in business

Perfect cleanliness in the gaming club. There are Korean nannies there who play and develop children. ALL children keep order, all games, toys in cabinets and shelves.

As on Easter Island, Jeju has ancient "idols" - harubans made of volcanic rock. They say that there are peers of "Easter" old people. Now there are many modern "copies". Glorious such

The island has various entertainment, wonderful museums are built: Teddy Bears (what does he have to do with Korea ??!), Chocolate, Africa, Sex (photos will be below), etc.

Interesting entertainment, accessible to everyone: both old people and babies - this is a dive in a submarine. There are several such places, we dived at 25 m, there are also at 40 m

Hi all!!!

Views of hotels from the "street"

This is the view of our hotel at the entrance to it, so coolly inscribed in mountainous relief, enter immediately on the 5th floor :)) It was unusual

Near the hotel there is an indoor dolphinarium. The software is rather weak, of course. But they are all very young: both dolphins and coaches, everything is ahead of them.

And a few more types

The water and air are crystal clear. You can drink water from the tap. The island is famous for its agriculture. Delicious tangerines, the purest organic products...

Some "spicy" photos from the Museum of "Love"

Lovely padded dress :)

The whole hall is dedicated to age-related love and tenderness

On such beach chairs, many would like to relax.

I am finishing my first report. A lot came out. Sorry. Lived the trip again. After Jeju, we traveled more than once, but this island won me over. He is like a "pure" Korean girl: modest, handsome, laconic, pure. The hotel is beyond praise. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail. Upon arrival with a baby, we were given a bottle sterilizer and a washboard with a basin :)). We didn't even ask. The hotel has a casino, car rental, a souvenir shop with prices (!!!) the same as everywhere else. Those. no need to run for souvenirs somewhere. An opera singer with a conservatory education sang in the lobby in the evenings, and our countrywoman accompanied her. It was very pleasant to have a rest with Koreans.

Do not judge strictly. Any questions - I'll be happy to answer.

Jeju Island is better known as Jeju (meaning "Island of Three Abundances") located within the Korea Bay in South Korea. Jeju is the smallest South Korean province and at the same time the largest island of the republic. Its area is as much as 1846 square meters. km, and the population is slightly less than 532,000 people.

According to historical data, this island volcanic origin appeared 400 million years ago. The center of Jeju can be called the extinct volcano Hallasan, which is also considered the most high point Republic of Korea.

Hallasan is not the only volcano in Jeju, but you should not worry about it, recent eruptions were recorded over 1000 years ago. For my long history, Jeju in different time was part of Mongolia and Japan, and South Korea was lucky enough to own the island two whole times.

The popularity of Jeju among numerous tourists began relatively recently. Two hundred years ago, the main purpose of the island looked like this: all political criminals of the republic referred specifically to Jeju, Korea forbade them even to set foot on the mainland. It is worth knowing that matriarchy reigns everywhere on the island, unlike South Korea, where Confucianism is famous.

The usual situation in Jeju Island is considered to be a family in which the main breadwinner is a woman, and a man takes care of the household and raises children. A very honorable and profitable occupation for women is the collection of seafood on great depth(usually about 20 meters). Moreover, this skill is passed down among local residents from generation to generation.

A distinctive feature of the islanders is considered to be an atypical dialect for Koreans and a peculiar appearance, and the dialect local residents often incomprehensible even to the natives of Korea.

So why is Jeju Island called "the island of three abundances"? First of all, stones are found in abundance here (due to volcanic origin), and secondly, the strongest gusts of wind walk along the slopes extinct volcanoes and thirdly, these are courageous fearless women, on whom the whole island rests. So it turns out, three abundances - wind, stones and women.

At present, Jeju, with its unique and amazing story considered the pearl of the Republic of Korea. UNESCO lists Jeju as a World Heritage Site world heritage, and according to the results of an international competition held in 2011, the island entered the seven new wonders of nature.
Today, holidays in Jeju are very popular among Asians: hundreds of thousands of tourists from Japan and China flock here every year. Among Koreans, the island is known as great place for wedding ceremonies and celebrations.

Especially for the newlyweds, numerous parks, luxury hotels and attractions (for example, the Love Land sculpture park) were built here. Korean students spend their holidays here. IN last years Holidays in Jeju are becoming popular among foreign tourists, including the Russians.
This is not surprising: the cleanest beaches, picturesque nature, mild climate, ancient history And developed infrastructure Isn't that what we strive for every year? best resorts peace.

What to see on the island?

The hallmark of modern Jejudo are stone figures of good-natured grandfathers, which are called tolharubans, see photo:

It is they who are most often depicted on souvenirs and postcards.

For several centuries now stone statues are considered for local residents a talisman against evil spirits. There is not a single islander who does not have a three-meter idol at home. During the development of tourism, enterprising craftsmen and artisans guessed to make miniature copies of tolkhorubans. Therefore, the question of what to bring from Jeju Island is simply irrelevant.

Among the outstanding natural attractions include picturesque waterfalls. The tour includes a visit botanical garden and the Bridge of the Seven Nymphs. It is worth noting and mountain cave with the unpronounceable name Sanbangulsa Grotto, which houses a statue of Buddha.

Will delight vacationers and diverse entertainment- this is an elephant show, bewitching Laser show, visiting the greenhouse of orchids and chrysanthemums, several museums and Bonsai Park. Both adults and children will be very interested in a trip to an ostrich farm.

Particular attention should be paid to another business card Jeju. Those who have visited the island will immediately answer that these are tangerines, and they will be absolutely right. Tangerines grow here everywhere, from the yards of residents to endless plantations. For those who do not know, tangerines are considered the main export commodity of this South Korean province.

The climate on the island is rather mild monsoon, and therefore monsoon rains for Jeju - not uncommon. In order not to spoil yourself long-awaited vacation, it is worth considering that Jeju in June and July will meet guests with prolonged heavy rains.

Autumn is great for swimming and for long walks, at this time it rains, but they are most often of a short duration. High season occurs during the winter months. What is not a reason to spend New Year holidays in a heavenly place? In winter, the minimum amount of precipitation falls, but the prices for holidays in these months increase sharply.

Do not worry about the weather, as a rule, there are no cold days here. And given the fact that the main source of income on the island is tourism, the main recreation program is not only lazy pastime on the beach.

Here you can study interesting story, visit exciting excursions, sample local cuisine in excellent restaurants, spend time in cozy eateries, engage in active sports - surfing, windsurfing, spearfishing and fishing, diving, hang gliding and rock climbing.

How to get to Jeju Province?

Direct flight, for example, from Moscow should get to Seoul. The flight time will be approximately two hours. You can choose an exotic way: from many Russian cities you can get to Seoul by ferry. And already from Seoul, there are several options:
- with the help of Aeroflot services (flight time is about 35 minutes, but with comfort);
- by taxi (journey time about 10-15 minutes, for a moderate fee);
- by bus, routes No. 100, 200, 500 (it will take a little longer, but much cheaper);
- using the transfer service from booked hotel(usually the service is free).

Everywhere: they spy on you, brazenly throw themselves at your feet, fall on your head, come in dreams. Bags and stomachs are full of tangerines, landscapes are oversaturated with tangerines. Sour, sweet, small and pot-bellied, large with a “pimpka” and invariably fragrant. Impossible to resist!
He rules everywhere - the king of the fields on the island - Mandarin.
Kiwi, mango, strawberries and other exotic fruits also have power here, but Mandarin is the rightful owner Jeju.

Jeju Island is an island where there is a lot of wind, stones and women.
