What to take with you on a winter trip. List of personal items and equipment for a winter hike

The question of how to properly pack a suitcase for a trip plays an important role when preparing for a trip. In this matter, the main thing is minimalism, so as not to drag too much like a pack donkey, but at the same time everything should be at hand, especially if you are planning a trip abroad.

Remember, heavy bags can ruin any trip. If you are planning to go on a package tour, you will have to carry all the bags yourself. And even if you go by personal transport, you shouldn’t take a lot either.

Take only the most necessary things, since on vacation you will probably want to please yourself with new clothes. Female representatives should take no more than two sundresses with them for going to the beach and a couple of evening or cocktail dresses. A pair of T-shirts, shorts, a tunic or a pareo will be a must, and it’s a good idea to bring a sweater or windbreaker for cool evenings. In addition, do not forget about mosquitoes, which are brutal in the evenings, so you should not please insects with open areas of the body. You can take light light trousers.

It is better if your items of clothing are combined with each other so that they can be worn in different situations, for example, during lunch in a cafe or in the evening in a restaurant. You can grab one skirt and a shirt, which is suitable for both warm and cool evenings.

For going to the beach

Do you want to be bright? Grab a tunic with a floral print, it will always make you look fashionable on the beach. All clothes should be made from natural fabrics, say no to synthetics, in order to feel comfortable under the scorching sun. Be sure to take something white - it always looks beautiful and saves you from the heat.

Girls, as a rule, take five swimsuits for a ten-day vacation. You shouldn’t do this, since you won’t have time to put everything on anyway. Take a maximum of two, such as a one-piece and a bikini, for variety.

Things get wrinkled on the road, so don’t be lazy to take a small iron and a bag of powder with you.

At sea, sunglasses and a hat, such as a light-colored hat or Panama hat, are useful. To spend time in your room, bring a robe.

Shoes include sandals and flip-flops for the beach, as well as sandals for walking. If you have room in your suitcase, take a pair of closed shoes and socks - they will come in handy in case of rain. Of course, not a single girl will go to a resort without makeup. Take sunscreen and after it, mascara, perfume. Don't forget about personal hygiene products.

Things and equipment for winter hike much heavier, more specific and significantly more expensive than for summer ones. Much has come to tourism from mountaineering, where various know-how and high technologies are being tested with might and main. Now all these innovations have become available to a wide range of tourists: lightweight, comfortable and expensive.

Previously, tourists made everything themselves, from improvised materials, but all these homemade products are not even close to high-tech branded products that seriously make life easier.

The temperature range in winter is very wide: from -25 to + 10. Accordingly, clothing should be universal and at the same time light and compact.

Below are lists of equipment and things you really need to bring. Everything else can be safely left at home. Please note that only the following are listed here: PERSONAL equipment . Group (gas burners and cylinders, boilers, shovels, fire equipment, awnings, GPS, etc.) - how many and which ones - the guide decides depending on the specific conditions. And he takes it himself, then distributes it among the participants of the hike.

Equipment:

Backpack, tent, sleeping bag, rugs, bowl, spoon, mug, knife, sunglasses (ski mask), raincoat, backpack cape, plastic bottle 1-1.5 l, thermos, flashlight, shoe covers or gaiters, snowshoes (skis ), trekking poles, personal first aid kit (if needed, do not duplicate the contents of the group first aid kit), hygiene products, toilet paper(half a roll), camera, mobile phone, money and documents.

Things:

Shoes, hat, gloves, thermal underwear, 2 fleece jackets, a membrane jacket with a hood, wind or membrane pants, fleece pants, self-release pants (or just warm pants), a warm puffer jacket, a windproof mask (balaclava), socks, a small book .

It is very convenient to pack all things in a hermetic bag. This way they will decrease in volume by 1.5-2 times and will never get wet. Bags are sold in tourist shops. They come in different sizes: S, M, L. Take M (15l).

Now about everything in detail.

Equipment.

Backpack. For men, optimally 75-90l, for women 50-60l. Backpacks with a frame and a waist belt remove 70-95% of the load from the spine and transfer it directly to the legs through the hips. The stiffer the frame and belt, the better the load is removed from the shoulders. Here are some estimates from own experience: Deuter Aircontact backpack (weight 3 kg) is very rigid, removes up to 95% of the weight from the spine, suitable for carrying loads up to 25 kg. Deuter Act Lite (2.1kg) and Osprey Kestrel (1.8kg) will remove up to 80%, suitable for loads up to 18 kg. If you do not have serious back problems (curvature, stoop), take a lighter backpack.
All things must fit inside the backpack. If attached outside, it can get wet, get lost, and be torn on the bushes. From the outside, you can only strengthen the rug. It is better to place it in a special case so that it does not get into fights with branches.

Tent. There are no options here. Only winter, two-layer with a fabric bottom and aluminum arches, with a vestibule. The bottom made of polyethylene, reinforced with polypropylene fibers and fiberglass arches become brittle in temperatures below -10. Good options are “2+1” for three and “3+1” for four. Take a tent that will be filled to capacity with people, the lowest one (less space that needs to be warmed up, and good wind resistance) - it’s warmer, more reliable and lighter.

Sleeping bag. Winter, with a comfort temperature of -7° and below. Weighing no more than 2 kg.

Rug(aka karemat, foam). Most best option— an inflatable mat plus a foam mat. The simplest option is two ordinary foam mats. One will definitely be cold. And taking one inflatable, even a thick winter one, is scary, they often get punctured.

Sunglasses (ski mask). For protection from ultraviolet radiation, wind and snowstorms. Preferably slightly darkened or completely transparent, but with 100% UV protection. If you have glasses, then they are like bicycle glasses, streamlined in shape, and do not reduce your visibility. There are special branded ones for $50-100. In specialized tool stores, streamlined safety glasses have appeared that are not inferior in elegance to ordinary sunglasses. With durable plastic lenses, good clarity and 100% UV protection. Only 5-20$.

Bowl, mug, spoon, knife. The best choice for a bowl is a plastic container with a lid with a capacity of 0.5-1 liters. It is convenient to steam oatmeal and noodles. You can store and transport different products.
Mug – stainless steel, 250-400 ml. A thermal mug (with double walls) is undesirable - it’s heavy and you can’t heat anything in it. If there is a fire nearby, then even in winter you don’t need a thermal mug. It’s better not to take plastic mugs; they often break and melt.
A spoon is an ordinary one, preferably a dessert spoon, made of stainless steel. It is 2 times lighter than a dining room one. It is better not to take wooden and plastic options - they break and burn. A fork and a teaspoon are not needed at all.
Knife – you need 2 pieces per group. Ordinary, small folding ones. I take a small Swiss one with different openers and a corkscrew. You don't have to take the knife at all. And my one is enough for an emergency if no one takes it. There will be no place to use a large hunting knife.

Shoe covers or gaiters. Needed to protect shoes and feet from water, snow and sharp ice. Shoe covers - with their own sole, the top is made of durable fabric. High, to the knees. The foot along with the shoe is put on a shoe cover. There are expensive branded ones, but you can make them yourself. See instructions for making shoe covers. Any shoes are suitable for shoe covers, even city shoes, as long as they are warm and comfortable. If you have good modern mountain or trekking boots ($200-500) with all the bells and whistles - breathable Gore-Tex, warming Polartec, etc., then the problem remains of protecting the junction of the boot with the pants from snow. Then you can limit yourself to gaiters. These are shoe covers without soles, a tube made of durable fabric, attached to the boot with a hook and strap (under the sole), and tightened under the knee with a cord to prevent them from slipping. They sell ready-made ones for $10-15. You can do it yourself. Nothing complicated.

Snowshoes (skis). If the snow on the route is deep, and this is usually known in advance, then it would be good to take snowshoes. Many of the previously tested homemade ones completely pale in comparison to the branded “TSL” ($150-300). They are also equipped with spikes, replacing crampons on ice and firn. But it is advisable for the whole group to wear snowshoes. It’s impossible to trail in a snowshoe; it’s even better to walk in a line, and not trail after trail. Therefore, if there are less than 3-4 people without snowshoes, it will be difficult for them. Yes, and dividing a group is bad. Take skis if you have experience using them. You usually can’t learn on a hike, so they just ride on you. Without sufficient experience, you can only walk on level ground, and up or down - faster on foot. And we almost never walk on level ground...

Trekking poles. The poles significantly reduce the load on the ankle, knees and spine. They also help to maintain balance on descents and ascents. They are very helpful when traversing a slope. In the parking lot they serve as racks for awnings and tents. Take folding ones of three sections. Don't forget to use wide snow stops, like ski poles.

Raincoat, backpack cover. Even in winter, rain is not uncommon. The cheapest raincoat is a polyethylene raincoat for $0.5-2. But these quickly break on branches and stones. You need to have at least 2 pieces. For a hike, it is better to have a special poncho made of lightweight tent fabric that covers a person along with a backpack ($30-50). Does not restrict movement, is well ventilated (ideal sweat removal). Disadvantage - large volume, clings to branches.

Using a raincoat-jacket paired with rain pants or a raincoat worn under a backpack when walking with a backpack is unacceptable. The body produces too much moisture, which does not evaporate through the raincoat. As a result, you will get wet from the inside no less than from the rain. Another thing is in the parking lot - the jacket fits.

Thermos and empty plastic bottle. During the day we do not heat water for lunch. Therefore, hot drinks should be prepared at breakfast and carried in a thermos. Enough 0.7 - 1.0 liters per person. Unbreakable stainless steel ones are optimal. Give your thermos a suitability test: fill it with boiling water, screw on all the lids, just don’t put on the cover (if you have one). Leave at room temperature. After 5 hours, the water temperature should not drop below 72-75° (you won’t burn your finger, but you can’t hold it for more than 1 second), after 9 hours - not lower than 64° (you won’t hold your finger for longer than 2-3 seconds). If it cools down faster, it's not a thermos. Plastic bottle needed to collect and carry water in the parking lot. Enough 1-1.5l per person.

Flashlight. LED headlamp. Even if you don’t have one, be sure to buy it. Best of all - on one powerful LED. Insert fresh alkaline (alkaline) batteries or rechargeable batteries; no spares are needed. Important! When transporting or carrying a backpack, remove the batteries from the flashlight (especially cheap ones) to avoid accidental activation.

First aid kit. Of course, the guide will have a first aid kit. Its contents are here: a first aid kit. If you need additional other medications, take them yourself.
If you often have problems with calluses or joints, tendons, take a patch and an elastic bandage for yourself. Plaster in a roll 4-5 cm wide on a fabric basis, without pads.

Hygiene products. A small piece of soap, 30-40 grams, is enough. A toothbrush, without toothpaste (it will freeze and will not squeeze out of the tube). Hand and face cream, hygienic lipstick - the face and lips become very chapped out of habit. A pack of wet wipes - you can wash yourself with them if you don’t want to get into cold water.

Toilet paper. Half a roll per person is enough.

Camera. There will be no place to charge equipment. Therefore, take spare batteries or save existing ones. There is no need to take a photo tripod.

Mobile phone. For security reasons, everyone should have a mobile phone. In a separate waterproof package. Fully charged and with money in the account. There will be nowhere to charge it. It is advisable to take a power bank.

Important numbers that may be useful during the hike (my phone numbers and the conductor’s phone numbers in the first place), write down on paper and put it not with money. For insurance against various events.

Money and documents. A passport or a document replacing it is required. Store money and documents in separate waterproof packaging.

Things.

Shoes. She needs to be given Special attention. It is advisable that these are special trekking or mountain high boots. Their sole has good grip on wet and dry stones, ice, and soil. The upper is made of extra-strong leather, securely glued and sewn to the sole. Inside there is usually a Gore-Tex type membrane to remove excess moisture. Such shoes are not sold on the market, only in sports stores, preferably in tourist stores.

Choose the size so that even with two warm socks there is still free space for you to move your toes.

Never take new shoes on a hike. Be sure to walk around in it for several days, it is better to run or play active games. In short, you need to spread it. If it turns out that the size is wrong, wash it with a sponge and change it. Hiking shoes will not lose their new look even after a few days of wear. I've done this more than once. The main thing is to save and return all the tags.

If you buy or make shoe covers with galoshes, then regular, reliable city boots will go with them.

Warm hat, gloves. The hat is warm, preferably fleece. A budget option– acrylic. The hood of the jacket must be worn over it.

Gloves (preferably mittens) – 2 pairs. Ski boots are suitable - nylon with insulation. You can use fleece or other warm ones, and if necessary, wear “tops” on top - made of waterproof fabric to protect from wind and water.

Thermal underwear. Hiking items should not contain cotton. It retains a lot of moisture and does not dry well. Better than synthetic. The ideal option is polyester. Thermal underwear is usually sold as a set - a top with long sleeves and pants. It comes in different thicknesses (respectively, warmth). For versatility, you can take the average. It will always be on you, day and night. When wet, it dries quickly directly on the body.

As an alternative, a polyester golf or long-sleeve T-shirt and acrylic warm (but not very warm) tights are suitable.

Fleece jackets. Fleece (polara, Polartec) is a godsend for tourists. Retains very little moisture. If you just squeeze it out, it is already dry to the touch and warms. Take 2 pieces. During the day, while crossing, you will wear one fleece jacket directly over your thermal underwear, and both in the parking lot. Both or at least one should have a chin-length collar.

Jacket with a hood. Jacket made of durable fabric, with an inner skirt against snow and wind, drawstrings on the sleeves, with a mesh lining, without insulation. Waterproof and breathable (with membrane). Will be worn over a fleece jacket during transitions and stops.

Wind pants. Made from durable fabric, waterproof and breathable, no insulation. With drawstring skirts at the bottom. They will wear thermal underwear or fleece pants during transitions.

Fleece pants. It’s good to sleep in them, and in extreme cold they can be worn instead of or together with thermal underwear during the transition. In the temperature range -5+5 I wear thermal underwear and fleece pants without windbreakers. If you can’t find it, you can buy a piece of fleece and have your pants sewn in a tailor’s shop. The simplest ones, with elastic, without pockets.

Self-resetting pants. Comfortable in temperatures below -10. Warm pants like ski overalls with zippers on the sides. They dress without taking off their shoes over everything. They are used in parking lots and rest stops. Instead, you can take ski pants or bib overalls, or even simple padded pants with padding polyester insulation.

Warm jacket - puffer. Needed at frost below -10. Weighing up to 600g. If it’s not completely cold, padding polyester will do. Worn over everything in parking lots and rest stops.

Windproof mask (balaclava). Wear under a hat in strong cold winds. It is a sleeve with a large opening for the entire face, going down to the shoulders.

Socks. Fleece or trekking warm. 3 pairs. I used to use “grandmother’s knit” woolen ones for sleeping, but the slightest wetness makes them cold and takes a long time to dry. Cotton and linen are strictly unacceptable in socks. Wool is acceptable, but not more than 35%. We also recommend taking warm membrane socks. The foot will be almost dry and, most importantly, warm, even if the water in the boot is squelching. It is also very comfortable to cross cold rivers in these socks. We have tested Dex Shell companies, not to say that they are expensive and the quality is good.

Which is definitely not worth taking.

Axes, hunting knives. Not needed everywhere. If necessary, the instructor will take it himself.

Towel. We won't go swimming anyway.

Guitar. Firstly, you won't be able to play with gloves. Secondly, it may not tolerate temperature changes.

Winter holidays and vacations are just around the corner, and it's time to think about where to spend a well-deserved vacation so that it will be remembered for more than one year. Caucasus Mountains will be the ideal solution for everyone:
- amateurs extreme recreation can enjoy luxurious ski slopes;
- supporters of outdoor recreation will fully enjoy the pristine beauty of virgin forests and deep lakes;
- Those who want to improve their health will be grateful for the fresh healing air and the overall relaxing atmosphere of the holiday.
Before you go on the road, you need to decide many important issues, including choosing what things you need to take with you and what items you should leave at home without remorse. Let's try to figure it out, following the advice of experienced administrators tourist base"White River", offering magnificent and inexpensive holiday in the Krasnodar region.
Rule No. 1 – clothes should be comfortable
Practical and comfortable clothing is especially important during the winter holidays, because no one wants to get frostbite in the first days in nature. Particular attention should be paid to the selection of warm, waterproof clothing; it is needed not only by amateurs alpine skiing, but for everyone who plans to walk or actively travel in the lap of nature.
Clothes should maintain optimal body temperature; overheating and sweating are also harmful; it is advisable to take several changes of both underwear and pants, and ideally 2 jackets (in case one pair gets wet). It is better to choose outerwear from synthetic fabrics - they dry much faster. Don’t give up thermal underwear and fleece sweaters; you should definitely take a hat, warm gloves and a scarf.
But evening dresses, luxurious dresses, skirts and thin tights are best left at home, because outdoor recreation does not imply elegant evenings. You can take one set of beautiful clothes just in case or if you are planning to celebrate any holiday on vacation.
Rule No. 2 – the choice of shoes should be approached responsibly
Representatives of the fair sex should understand that taking high-heeled shoes when planning winter holiday in the mountains, it's pointless. The same applies to boots made of suede (they will instantly get wet) and uncomfortable boots in which it is impossible to walk far. Shoes should be as comfortable as possible, worn in - you should not buy new clothes before leaving, there are Great chance that such a couple will rub more than one callus on their feet.
Sneakers are also not suitable; we recommend that you take care in advance of high-quality shoes with good, non-slippery soles. Be sure to bring several pairs of warm socks from home; nylon shoe covers may also come in handy (they will protect your shoes from the harmful effects of the environment).
Are you planning to go skiing? Don’t forget your gear; if you don’t yet have your own ski suit, it’s better to rent one, it will be much more comfortable than starting to explore the slopes in your own impractical clothes.

Traveling light in summer often causes less difficulties than in the cold season. After all, what to take with you on a trip in winter, especially with our climate changes, is a question that causes difficulty even for experienced travelers. The key to solving it lies in making the right choice clothes. And you need to start from the bottom - with linen.

If you're going for a long time, you shouldn't save money - it's better to buy special thermal underwear. It will help you out even in the most difficult situations. In general, a set of clothes should be chosen taking into account the temperature difference of 10 degrees in both directions, as well as taking into account the weather forecast in final destination appointments. Optimal choice- practical and comfortable things that can be easily combined with each other. For example, several light sweaters and one warm one, a couple of T-shirts and extra pants, which can be both pajamas and insulation. But it’s better not to waste time with a jacket - taking it off is not a problem, but being in a beautiful, but light windbreaker in the cold is a dubious pleasure.

First aid kit for the road

Due to the fact that winter is a time of increased stress on health, travel expenses will be much more serious than in summer. Optimal and universal set:

  • Antiviral drugs. It is better to take them throughout the trip, providing yourself with additional protection.
  • Antipyretic.
  • Cough medicine. Even if there is none, the prospect of suddenly catching a draft and coughing all the way while watching surprised looks on you is a very dubious pleasure.
  • Antiseptics and adhesive plaster.
  • Nasal drops, sore throat tablets.
  • Painkiller.
  • Thermometer and tonometer.

Sunglasses, hand and face ointment, and chapstick will help.

Food and entertainment on winter trips

In winter, food is stored better than in summer, but due to temperature changes, it can quickly deteriorate. Moreover, due to the presence large quantity take clothes with you field kitchen extremely burdensome. It is better to donate space for sandwiches, a thermos with coffee or tea, cheese, nuts and chocolate.

It is impossible to predict all situations in your life, especially while driving a car. But you can prepare for most of the troubles and problems that may arise when moving. We are talking especially about the highway, where it is not always possible to get at least some help. You should always understand that a car is a mechanism that can fail at any moment and turn out to be not as reliable as you think. Therefore, go to winter trip on long distances nothing follows without. It is worth considering some situations that may be relevant for you or other people on the road. Sometimes you have to help other drivers in trouble. And it’s very good when there are at least some tools for such help.

When we imagine long trip, many road lovers are looking forward to a long cruise with wonderful music and wonderful moments through snowstorms and icy roads to their cherished goal. But if any unusual situation occurs, you may find yourself at a loss, having received neither the pleasure of the snowstorm, nor the wonderful music, nor the pleasure of overcoming the icy road. So you should prepare for the most unpleasant situations so that they never happen to you. And even if they happen, you will know what to do. Let's figure out what things you should have in your car in order not to get lost on a snowy and deserted road in winter. Most likely, they will not be able to help you quickly, especially at night, since there are often not too many people on such roads.

Basic set of devices and products for winter trails

The first set of equipment, which is necessary in any case for the driver, is mandatory not only in winter, but also at any other time. These are tools that can help you deal with troubles on your own in the form of a broken tire or minor problems. For such cases, it is advisable to also have a little practice related to minor and urgent repairs. For these situations, the necessary items are as follows:

  • jack and wheel wrench - it is advisable to buy a universal type wrench with several bolt sizes in order to be able to help other people on the track;
  • a spare tire or a spare wheel, which can often save your life if problems occur in extreme conditions and develop in an unexpected way for you;
  • It is also advisable to have a compressor or pump for the wheels, since the spare wheel often loses pressure when left at rest, it may be useless without a pump;
  • first aid kit and fire extinguisher - many people neglect these details of the vehicle’s equipment, but they often save lives, allow you to bandage wounds or put out a starting fire;
  • a shovel and other means that will help pull the car out of skidding and unpleasant situations, and at the same time help to warm up for the normal condition of the body;
  • snow chains - this equipment option will be very desirable if you are faced with the challenges of a very difficult road, often the vehicle's capabilities increase;
  • a tow rope and a warning triangle are essential items for getting help from passing motorists who are not too willing to help.

If you have been in an unpleasant situation, then you know very well that stopping a car on the highway is very difficult. Turn on your hazard lights so you can be seen from afar. Place a warning triangle on the road 30-40 meters from the car and try to stop another car. This will let drivers know that you are in trouble and need help. But after stopping, you may need a tow rope to transport the car to the right place.

Maps and gadgets - choosing more reliable guides

When it comes to great gadgets in the form of GPS and universal car instruments, they are simply wonderful. There are dozens of wonderful models that perform all the necessary functions. But a paper map has one huge advantage. This means there is no risk of breakdown. So, in addition to the devices and technologies that are familiar to you, we suggest putting regular maps of the area in your glove compartment to be sure.

It is also advisable to draw a route on the map and occasionally mark certain points that you pass. If the road is completely unfamiliar, this will help you understand perfectly where you are, as well as where you need to go in the most unpleasant situations. Such information can save lives and become a necessary factor for survival in difficult conditions.

Warm clothes, blankets and an opportunity to stay warm.

Another factor for normal survival in the cold wilderness with a non-working car is warmth. You will have to somehow warm up the car's interior if you don't see any other options. First of all, do not go on long trips without warm clothes - a jacket, extra pants, thermal underwear, a hat and gloves. It's better to have an extra bag in the trunk. Heating the interior is quite difficult. This can be done using the following methods:

  • if the car battery is working, you can use its energy to connect any autonomous heating systems, but their reliability remains questionable;
  • you can use regular candles to raise the temperature inside the car, this method is used by fishermen on winter fishing for heating tents;
  • you need to tightly close all the windows and doors in the car, install several candles in different places interior of your car, and then accept comfortable position and wait for the warmth;
  • it will not be possible to warm the car much in this way, but three or four candles can maintain a normal temperature for human life even in deep minus temperatures outside;
  • you should be careful in your sleep so as not to push the candles and start a fire, this is the only unpleasant consequence of such simple way heating the car.

Many people take gas burners with them on long and potentially dangerous trips. This great way cook food, but heating a car with such a device is not easy. The air in the car will instantly become stale, and you will suffer greatly from lack of oxygen. So always think through all possible situations and use the most successful ways to heat your car and body.

Food and water are essential resources for survival

Another resource worth mentioning is food. It’s better to take a few bottles with you on a difficult journey. drinking water. There were situations when, due to an unexpected snowstorm, people had to sit on the roadside for two days without the opportunity to move forward. If you didn't take water and at least some food with you, this will be very difficult.

For food, you can choose unpretentious canned food, nutritious sweets, as well as everything that you don’t have to cook. Water should be still, unsalted - plain clean fresh water to maintain the body. With the help of such products you can survive for several days even in the most difficult conditions.

Charged mobile phones and a full tank of gas

All resources on a long journey must be full. If you are bringing a laptop with you, charge it first and find a 3G modem for emergency Internet access if necessary. Cell phones must also be charged, it is better to take a car adapter with you to charge such a gadget. This could save your life, you can call for help and report your troubles.

It’s also worth refilling right away full tank gasoline to be able to heat the car and obtain electricity for the necessary processes. A car consumes from 0.5 to 2 liters of gasoline per hour, so make sure you use this resource wisely. If possible, replenish your gasoline supplies at oncoming gas stations, this way you will extend your ability to survive in the most extreme conditions.

First actions when caught in winter captivity on the road

It is worth remembering that your behavior determines whether you can stay alive in unpleasant situations in winter captivity. Every year on Russian roads hundreds of people find themselves in such situations. It’s good that today there is quite a lot of transport even on the most difficult roads. But situations cannot be ruled out when you have to survive on your own for two or three days. So it’s worth remembering some unspoken rules of conduct for such moments:

  • designate your parking spot, since the car is covered in snow, and the much-desired oncoming or passing traffic may pass without the driver noticing your car;
  • make sure that you have enough gasoline, water and food for a normal existence, and also look at your location on a map or GPS, write down this place;
  • try to contact any people with whom you have contact, call rescuers or the police for help, report your intended location;
  • remain calm and do not attempt to explore the area on foot if you have the opportunity and resources to live in your vehicle;
  • if on the map or GPS there is a village or gas station a few kilometers away, go there - there more chances keep warm, get help and call the necessary services.

It is also worth guessing how much time you will have to spend in such conditions. The division of gasoline, water and food supplies depends on this. At night on a deserted highway you can see the presence of a gas station nearby or rural houses. Often, light is visible from any objects of civilization several kilometers away. This will help you understand how to act in a given situation. We also suggest watching a video from great instructions for survival in difficult highway conditions:

Let's sum it up

Survival on a desert road is pretty difficult task, which can be fatal for many untrained drivers. How many times have we watched friends and loved ones venture into the harsh cold long trip along the highway, wearing a light autumn jacket. This is convenient for traveling in a car, but such clothing will not save your life in an unpredictable situation. In extreme cold, even while changing a tire, wearing such a jacket can easily cause pneumonia and other unpleasant consequences. So listen to the advice on how to configure your car in winter time for a trip on the highway.

It is worth remembering that survival in this situation is the main factor. Therefore, it is better to pack a suitcase of things that you will not need than to greatly regret that you did not take these things with you. You can take whatever you want on your trip. But make sure you have the necessary things. It's really important point for every motorist who wants safety and confidence from traveling in his vehicle at any time of the year and in any conditions. What do you recommend for drivers going on long trips? winter trip.
