New Russian Railways trains are double-decker passenger cars. Double-decker railway carriages. New passenger cars: reviews. Cars in double-deck trains

New two-story passenger trains began to run on the route "Moscow-Adler" in November, on the eve of the Olympics in Sochi. Despite the fact that the train has been used on this route for almost a year, it still attracts the attention of others. Moreover, there are radically opposite reviews about the two-story building - from quite positive to quite critical. I also had a chance to ride this train. One of the important advantages of the double-decker car is its increased passenger capacity, which allowed Russian Railways to reduce the fare. There are 64 beds (16 compartments) in a standard double-decker compartment car, while there are only 36 in a regular carriage (9 compartments).

The cars are produced in Russia at the Tver Carriage Works. So far, only one route is operating, connecting the capital with the resort of Sochi. This year, another 50 double-deck cars will be purchased. They will carry people from Moscow to St. Petersburg and Kazan.

I propose to take a ride together and see what the double-decker train looks like from the inside.

2. The train leaves at 10 am from the Kazan station. Travel time - 25 hours. Note the difference in height compared to a conventional single-deck car.

3. The newest dual-system electric locomotive of the fifth generation, EP20, is leading the train. Can operate on both AC and DC.

4. There is a dynamic pricing system on this route - the more empty seats on the train, the cheaper the fare. There is also a 10% discount when buying round-trip tickets. I bought a ticket 2 days before departure at a price of 8 thousand rubles. If you buy at least a week before the trip, then the price will be around 5 thousand rubles.

5. We go inside. Tambour. Doors open with a button and close automatically. The passages between the cars are sealed. From June 1, smoking on trains long distance forbidden, but some bad passengers dug holes for the ashtrays.

7. There are three toilets for each carriage. These are dry closets, and you can use them at any time, including at bus stops.

9. Passage on the first floor. The ceiling height is just over 2 meters.

10. To lock the door in the compartment there are magnetic cards.

11. General view of the compartment on the ground floor. The main difference from conventional single-deck cars is the absence of an upper luggage rack. It is also worth bearing in mind that on the top shelf you will not be able to sit upright with your legs dangling. There are places for luggage under the lower shelves.

12. In each compartment on the bottom row there are two sockets. The lighting is fully LED.

13. Coupe from the inside with closed door.

14. The window does not open: the cars have a centralized heating and ventilation system. The power supply of the wagons comes from the locomotive. There is a sliding curtain on the window. Ventilation grilles are located under the window and on the ceiling.

15. We go to the second floor. The steps are illuminated (like in a cinema), there are handrails. On the stairs there is another waste container and a spherical mirror to see in advance the passengers walking towards them.

16. The second floor is completely identical to the first. The difference is only in this small bevel of the roof. And the windows are below the waist, and you have to bend over if you want to admire the scenery from the hallway.

17. Upper shelves in a compartment on the second floor. On the ceiling there is a ventilation grill, in the center there is a loudspeaker with volume control. I noticed another interesting point - on the second floor, on each upper shelf, there are two personal lamps. This is probably due to the slope of the roof - not everyone can be comfortable lying with their heads to the window.

18. Everything else is completely identical. I don’t know about very tall people, but I am 182 cm long bed it was enough.

19. Each passenger is given a personal hygiene kit, a small food ration and water. Tea and coffee are served, of course, in branded glass holders.

20. While no one was there, I immediately went to the dining car for reconnaissance. The main hall is located on the second floor. By the way, the views out the window on the second floor are better.

21. On the lower floor there is a small bar and the kitchen itself. And to lift ready meals upstairs, two small elevators are used.

22. On the way, the train makes several stops lasting from 5 to 15 minutes. All smoking passengers run outside at the first opportunity. For wagons, it does not matter whether the platform is high or low at the station

23. On the way from Moscow to Voronezh region there was absolutely nothing to see outside the windows. If you are bored, you can try to use the free internet. All carriages have WiFi routers with a connection from Megafon. True, everything depends on the availability of a cellular network, and along the route this is not very good. In fact, more or less stable communication and the Internet were only on the Black Sea coast.

24. At stops you can watch the provincial life.

25. In motion - admire nature.

26. Another stop. Station Rossosh.

27. Not all views can be photographed normally - numerous wires interfere. Sometimes, by the way, it turns out that fewer wires enter the frame from the windows of the first floor than from the second.

28. At 2 am the train should arrive in Rostov-on-Don. Travel time passes unnoticed. Compared to an airplane, the train is much less fussy, more spacious, and there is time to work. But this is not two hours on an iron bird.

29. In the morning the train leaves for the coast.

30. Vacationers look with interest at the double-decker train. Many people take pictures.

31. The path passes almost close to the water. Definitely the most scenic part of the route.

32. At 10 am the next day I get off at the railway station in Sochi and go to the Strategic Partnership 1520 forum. But more on that in the next part.

As for double-deck cars, they are many times better in terms of equipping ordinary single-deck cars. A little tighter on the top shelf? But there are normal toilets, sockets, internet and everything else.

Have you ridden one like this? How are the impressions?

Double deck cars Russian railways are part of the Moscow-Adler train. Russian Railways plans to produce trains with double-decker cars with seats on the routes Moscow - Smolensk and Moscow - Belgorod, Moscow - Saratov. Double-deck cars are manufactured in compartment (64 seats), SV (30 seats), dining car, seated cars business class (58 seats), seated economy class cars (104 seats). There are 48 seats in the dining room of the double-decker dining car and six seats in the bar. The length of the double-decker car is almost the same as that of the usual one (the double-decker version is 70 centimeters longer), and the height of the car has become 5.25 meters.

The main difference between a compartment of a double-decker car and a compartment of an ordinary one is the absence of upper luggage niches and the height of the ceiling. Instead of 2.5 meters in a conventional car, the ceiling height in a double-decker car is 2.1 meters. The designers of the double-deck car were given the task of "squeezing" into the dimensions of an ordinary car. This is achieved by placing the ground floor compartment between wheeled bogies. Now, in order to get into the compartment on the first floor, passengers will have to go down the stairs, and to the second floor, respectively, go up. The entrance to the car, the conductor's compartment, toilets are located on the "middle" level.

On the diagram of a double-decker car, the numbers indicate:
1 - vestibule
2 - office space
3 - conductor compartment
4 - ladder of the brake end of the car
5 - passenger compartment ground floor
6 - ladder of the non-brake end of the car
7, 8, 9 - toilets
10 - utility room
11 - corridor of the non-braking end of the car
12 - large corridor on the 1st floor
13 - corridor of the brake end of the car
14 - large corridor on the second floor
15 - passenger compartment of the second floor.
Coupe numbers from 1 to 16 are marked in red. In the four-seater version of the coupe, the seats are located ( odd placeslower places, even places are top places):

A double-decker car can have 64-seat and 30-seat options. The 64-seat carriage has four-seat compartments, and the 30-seat carriage has two-seat compartments.
Passenger compartments of a double-decker Russian Railways car are equipped with: two lower seats and two upper ones (not available in a 30-seater), in a double compartment there are shelves for small things, under the window table, a ladder and a handrail for climbing onto the upper berths (in the double version - absent ), hooks for clothes and a mirror on the door.

Double-decker wagon with seats

The double-decker economy class carriage will accommodate 104 seats. The business class carriage will have 29 extra-comfort seats on each floor. Seats in business class can turn in the direction of the train or the interlocutors can turn the seats towards each other. All double-decker carriages are equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi with the Internet.

For several years now I have been traveling to St. Petersburg by Sapsan, saving time, which is never enough anyway. On the way there I usually work, on the way back I get sober.

In early February, on the most popular in the country railway route a double decker train. The same as the Moscow-Adler train launched a year ago for the Olympics. I didn’t ride it then, I didn’t get to the depot on a recent blogging press tour, well, I’ll ride it myself. Travel time is usual, eight hours, overnight. Strange and smeared people nearby are my St. Petersburg friends who came to see alcoholic from Moscow back to the capital.

1 Three generations railway engineering in one frame. Suburban train, fast "Swallow" and a double-decker train.

2 There is no dispute about design, but it is not here. Yes, not the handsome Peregrine Falcon, the flagship of the railways. This is generally an economy class, the future replacement for a reserved seat throughout the country. The ticket price starts from 1300 rubles.

The cars were made at the Tver plant, in that city there is generally a strange understanding of the sense of beauty. But we should go, and not checkers? It is much more important which car is inside, and whether it is crowded there.

3 Railway riddle. In total, sixty-four people climb into the car, and on the second floor there are places from 81 to 112. The conductor then answered my question, but I want to invite you to guess for yourself. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll add the answer later, and if you guess right, you’ll get free PR :)

4 We go inside. Outwardly, it is quite different from the train we are used to.

5 The corridors themselves are exactly the same, of course. Just two floors.

6 There are stairs on both sides of the car. They are not so narrow, by the way, it is not difficult to drag a suitcase.

7 Coupe standard, four-seater. Inside, all the compartments of Tver carriages look exactly like this. This is the second floor, and the photo should dispel the myth of cramped space and low ceilings on the second floor. In fact, the first one may seem cramped, but even that depends on the size of the person.

8 Individual lamps are presented in the amount of four pieces per compartment, but for some reason there are only two sockets. But this is progress, in the past generation there was only one, and before that, there were no sockets in the compartment at all.

9 On the table are advertising booklets, promotions from Russian Railways and magnetic door key cards. Now you do not need to run after the conductor with a request to open and close the compartment while you go to the toilet or go to dinner in the dining car.

10 Toilets are concentrated in one part of the car. There are three bathrooms here. It is 25% less than before, because there are two toilets in an ordinary car, and three in a two-story car.

12 Wagon toilets have long ceased to be something indecent, here the toilet bowl is normal, and the tap works as usual, and not according to the principle of a village washbasin.

13 Opposite the toilets are bins for separate waste collection. There is no such program in the country yet, but someday, probably, we will also pack all and all waste in different buckets or sort it when thrown away.

14 A look at an ordinary carriage from the top shelf of the second floor. Views from the window are not a strong point of this route, even in summer the train from St. Petersburg to Moscow goes at such a time that it is dark on the street almost all the way, it is inconvenient to take pictures.

15 Transition between cars. Do you remember how it snowed there in the past?

16 On the ground floor there was a free compartment for people with limited mobility. There are only two places here, the bottom shelf is one and a half times wider, there is a place where to put the stroller. Pay attention to the ceiling - it’s tighter here, but if you lie on the top shelf, you still won’t bury your nose into the roof.

17 Toilet for the disabled. So far, only one car is equipped for the needs of people with handicapped. Unfortunately, in Russia they are not very free to move.

18 Oh, what is it! Tver Carriage Works has fixed its jamb of the previous version! Somehow it turned out that on some trains there was no way to adjust the volume of the sound in the corridors, and only the conductor could turn off the radio or the announcements of the head of the train. Now anyone can do it.

19 Most cool place- bar. It's not just coffee here!

20 The dining car is also two-story, and just on the second floor there is a dining room. Usually dining cars are not popular on Moscow-Petersburg trains. Well, what is there, got on the train, went to bed - woke up already at the station. But here he was jammed.

21 The chefs in the kitchen have stylish uniforms similar to those worn in Japanese restaurants.

22 The menu includes steaks and pork ribs, and just giant burgers! This sandwich seems especially appetizing to me, because I'm on a diet now and it's not allowed!

23 The kitchen is on the ground floor and all food is taken up in a special elevator. Ring! The waiter brings the burger to the table!

24 It is said that in a few years, such double-decker trains will be launched on most directions in the country, and second-class carriages will die out like they have long since become obsolete.

At the moment, only two double-decker trains run: No. 104, Moscow - Adler, and No. 5, Moscow - St. Petersburg. The cars of both trains were built on Distinctive feature these modern trains is much larger than conventional capacity.

Fare

Traveling in each of these two-story trains will cost a little less than in a regular train. However, only if the ticket is purchased in advance. The fewer empty seats left in the carriages, the more expensive they are. A double-decker ticket - Adler, bought in advance, will cost about 4,000 rubles. Ticket a train to St. Petersburg costs about 1300 rubles. Sale for the flight starts as usual - 45 days before departure.

Both double-decker trains belong to the branded class. they don't have. In addition to compartments, there are several SVs. The capacity of one carriage is 64 seats. Basically, this was the reason for the reduction in the cost of travel on a double-decker train. For comparison: there are usually only 39 seats in a carriage.

Composition features

From the usual double-decker train, it differs primarily in the height of the cars. The train is driven by the fifth generation locomotive EP-20, capable of operating both on AC and on High cars. appearance. Each has the Russian Railways branded abbreviation, written in red letters, clearly visible against a gray background.

The restaurant of the Adler composition is designed for 60 seats, St. Petersburg - for 48. Two waitresses serve visitors. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the train. As in conventional trains, food is also sold several times a day in the corridors. In addition to the restaurant, the double-decker train also has a bar for eight people. It is located on the first floor. Next to it is the kitchen. It is connected to the restaurant by two elevators. One of them is designed for lifting ready-made dishes up, and the second for lowering dirty dishes down.

Disabled facilities

The conveniences of these two new trains include the fact that they have cars specially designed for people with disabilities. Their distinctive features are wide corridors. Passengers can move on them right in the stroller. At the entrance to the car there is a special lift. Thus, a disabled person can get into the double-decker train itself (its photo can be seen on the page) without getting up from the carriage.

First floor

Most of the passengers who have already traveled on these trains speak of them as quite comfortable. The carriages are a little cramped than usual, but quite comfortable. The height of the corridors is a little over two meters. The compartment doors can be closed/opened using a magnetic card. Traveling on the train is completely safe - the passages between the cars are sealed.

Two-story - the composition, judging by the reviews, among other things, is also very clean. Smoking in vestibules is prohibited. Each carriage has three dry closets. You can use them, including at stops. There are also containers for sorting garbage on the train.

Second floor

A fairly well-equipped staircase leads up from the first floor. Its steps are illuminated, but you can hold on to comfortable handrails. There is a garbage container on the interfloor platform. A survey spherical mirror is suspended above it. Passengers descending the stairs can see those ascending, and vice versa.

The second floor of the train is very similar to the first. The only difference is that the ceiling here is slightly sloping, and the windows are very low - at the level of an adult's waist.

train compartment

Passengers who have bought a ticket for the branded train Moscow - Adler double-decker or to St. Petersburg can get settled very well. The compartments in these trains are quite comfortable and well equipped. Each of them is designed for four people. The length of the shelves in the compartment is slightly less than in the cars of ordinary trains. However, even tall people can accommodate them more or less comfortably. The only thing - to sit in full growth on the second shelf will not work. The ceilings on both floors are quite low. The third luggage racks in compartments and CBs are not provided. Suitcases can only be placed under the lower ones.

Lighting in the compartment is LED, and sockets for charging phones and laptops are built into the wall next to each of the two lower shelves. Available on double-decker trains and free wifi. Communication is provided by Megafon. Among other things, each compartment has a separate radio station. Increases the comfort of the trip and the presence of a climate control system. However, unfortunately, it is impossible to regulate the temperature in each individual compartment.

The windows throughout the train are equipped with modern soundproof double-glazed windows. SV-cars have liquid crystal monitors designed to view video programs.

Maintenance

When boarding a double-decker train, as in any branded train, passengers are given bed linen. The ticket price also includes a sanitary kit, newspapers, boiled water during the entire journey and dry rations. The latter includes drinking water in a bottle, jam, cracker, chicken pate, mustard, mayonnaise, waffles. As well as in conventional trains, tea is periodically distributed. The hygiene package includes a spoon, fork, knife, toothpick, paper napkin.

Both double-decker trains are accompanied by police officers. In order for them to monitor the order in the cars, video cameras are placed in the corridors.

Double-decker train: reviews

As already mentioned, the opinion of passengers about these trains was good. First of all, the low fare and the absence of standard inconveniences are noted. Russian trains: closed toilets at stops, heat or cold in cars, idle boilers, etc.

The disadvantages of these trains, passengers include, first of all, some tightness of the cars. Clean and comfortable toilets are also something the double-decker train boasts. Reviews in this regard about him are also very good. However, the toilets are sometimes smoky. Smoking in the vestibules of both trains is prohibited. Therefore, some passengers do it in the toilet. Causes certain inconvenience and the absence of third shelves. If there is too much luggage, there will simply be nowhere to put it.

Lineup schedule

A double-decker train moves a little faster than usual. The average speed is about 160 km/h. The schedule is designed in such a way that the majority of passengers are on the road in the shortest time. From Moscow to Adler on a double-decker train can be reached in about 25 hours. To St. Petersburg - 8 hours.

As you can see, a double-decker train (photos confirm this) can be assessed as quite convenient and comfortable. The ticket is inexpensive, and the train moves very quickly. So you can even put up with some tightness.

The first double-decker cars in Russia were created at the Tver Carriage Works in 1905.
The history of modern Russian double-deck cars began on June 16, 2009. It was then that OJSC Russian railways» approved the terms of reference for the range of double-deck passenger cars locomotive traction- compartment, SV and staff. The project is being implemented by the Tver Carriage Works.

Serial production of double-deck passenger cars began at TVZ in 2011.

On this moment double-decker carriages run on the following routes:

  1. Moscow - Kazan as part of branded train No. 23/24 - launch date - June 1, 2015
  2. Moscow - St. Petersburg as part of branded train No. 5/6 - launch date - February 1, 2015.
  3. Moscow - St. Petersburg as part of branded train No. 7/8 - launch date - February 1, 2016
  4. Moscow - Adler as part of branded train No. 103/104 - launch date - October 30, 2013.
  5. Moscow - Voronezh as part of branded train No. 45/46 - launch date - July 31, 2015.
  6. Moscow - Samara as part of passenger train No. 49/50 - launch date - December 3, 2015.
  7. St. Petersburg - Adler as part of branded train No. 35/36 - launch date - May 28, 2016.
  8. Moscow-Yaroslavl - planned to be launched in 2016.
