Econom-class train. Seats in a reserved seat car: scheme. The location of the shelves in the reserved seat

All people love to travel. This can be done in many ways, but the fastest and least expensive for today is traveling by train. That is why now we will tell you what the location of the seats in the reserved seat is and why such cars are unique.

Designation

Initially, I would like to say that there are many different types of wagons that represent certain classes of services. For example, the most expensive and most comfortable car is SV, it has soft seats, there are only two berths. A reserved seat car offers a more compact arrangement of passengers, this is a lower quality of service. The seats are not so soft, the compartment is not closed, it accommodates 4 people. The designation of a reserved seat car on the ticket is PL.

The device of second-class carriages

It should be noted that the majority of the country's residents prefer to travel in reserved seat cars. That is why most of them are on the train. It's all about the availability of prices for such tickets. What is the location of the places in the reserved seat? Generally speaking, there are 54 berths in such a carriage: 9 compartments, opposite each there are two more berths on two tiers (these places are usually called side ones). Seats in the so-called compartments are numbered from 1 to 36, on the sides - from 37 to 54. At the same time, odd numbers indicate the lower places, even numbers, respectively, the top ones.

About good and bad places

Also among the people there are concepts of good and bad places. What does this mean? good places those are called those that are located away from the general fuss, that is, the toilet and vestibules.

What seats do passengers like the most? The arrangement of seats in the reserved seat is such that the lower shelves are numbered with odd numbers. It is they who are most often bought up by passengers. This is not surprising, because most often healthy men or rather adult children can and want to climb onto the upper shelves. Also, the best places are considered to be in the center of the car: from the third to the seventh compartment (from 10 to 27 seats).

Considering the location of the seats in the reserved seat, you can see that near the toilet there is a compartment with seats 33-36, as well as side seats 37-38. The most unfortunate passengers consider it to be the side ones, located near the toilet, even if we are talking about the lower shelf. After all, a person can hit the door from the toilet. Also, it is often not closed by undisciplined citizens, which also causes a lot of inconvenience. Few people like the first compartments, because people also often go there, mostly in the compartment to the conductor (for tea, linen, advice).

Nuances

Considering the location of seats in the train (reserved seat), it should be noted that at the beginning of the car, as a rule, there is always a toilet (opposite which there is a tank with drinking water), then the conductor's compartment, then the compartment for passengers. The car ends with another toilet, opposite which there is a trash can. Also, the third and sixth compartments are equipped with emergency exits. Most of the time the windows don't open. Seats in the reserved seat car (location of emergency compartments) 10-12, 21-24 and, accordingly, side seats 43-44, 49-50 have an emergency exit.

With the advent of air travel, train travel lost its former popularity and for a long time there was a drop in passenger traffic using land transport. The situation has changed with the advent of comfortable and convenient trains, designed for both short trips and long journeys, during which passengers can use the usual amenities for several days. Since the cost of tickets for this type of transport is lower than for airplanes, and the view from the window is much more picturesque, people increasingly prefer traveling by rail.

Since 2009, the era of high-speed trains has begun, capable of reaching speeds of about 300 km / h. These trains allow you to cross huge distances in a matter of hours, but so far there are just nothing of such models in Russia, and we will consider the most popular of them.

All trains, regardless of their type and year of production, have their own marking rules that help passengers navigate great variety various characteristics of the compositions.

Service classes and categories of Russian Railways cars

Trains long distance are fast and passenger. The former make rare and very short stops, and are also distinguished by an increased cost. The high cost of tickets is due to the increased speed of travel. If we talk about comfort, then it does not depend on the type of composition, but on its manufacturer and year of manufacture.

Normal speed passenger train is about 60 km/h. Accelerated models move faster - 140 km / h, and high-speed trains reach the maximum value allowed for Russia of 200 km / h.

To distinguish trains by type, it is enough to learn their numbering, which is shown in the picture below.

At the same time, it should be borne in mind that even numbers are given to trains going east and north, respectively, trains going west and south are under odd numbers. When the train changes direction, the numbering changes to the nearest one (for example, 1 to 2, 123 to 124, and so on). Due to this, the same trains never meet at the same station or route.

Allegro

The second most popular high-speed train is Allegro, which runs between St. Petersburg and Helsinki. This train is operated jointly by Russian Railways and the Finnish company Soumen Valtion Rautatiet, and was developed by Alstom, which is also located in Finland.

The speed of "Allegro" is 220 km/h on the territory of Finland and 200 km/h within Russia. The train has 7 cars, 352 seats and 2 seats for the disabled. Ticket prices are:

  • 38.99 euros (2,800 rubles) for 2nd class and 74.31 euros (5,400 rubles) for 1st class throughout the summer.
  • 29 euros (2,100 rubles) for class 2 and 60.6 euros (4,400 rubles) for class 1 from September to December.

The cars in the composition are divided into:

  • 1 carriage - first class (48 seats);
  • 2 car - the second class with two places for the disabled and latrines and lifts equipped for them;
  • 3 wagon - buffet;
  • 4,5,6 - second class;
  • Carriage 7 is the second class, equipped with a play area for children.

If we talk about class differences, then in the first carriage the seats are arranged in two rows (1 + 2). The first-class seats are covered with leather upholstery. This type of carriage is equipped with a meeting room for 6 people. There is also a self-service area with free drinks and headphones. In the second class, the seats arranged in two rows (2+2) are covered with fabric upholstery.

Healthy! Despite the fact that usually the numbering of seats comes from the tail of the train (as shown in the service mentioned above), sometimes the Allegro trains turn around the other way around.

If you are interested in the most safe places in the train car - these are the seats located next to the exit. It is better to choose a car closer to the center of the train.

Martin

The high-speed electric train "ES Lastochka" was also developed by Siemens for Russian Railways specifically for Krasnodar Territory. This ambitious squad was created specifically on the eve of the 2014 Olympics. The letters ES stand for "ElectroSiemens".

Today, "Lastochka" ply in many directions:

  • Moscow - Orel - Kursk;
  • Moscow - Smolensk;
  • Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod;
  • Moscow - Tver;
  • St. Petersburg - Petrozavodsk;
  • St. Petersburg - Vyborg;
  • St. Petersburg - Velikiy Novgorod– Bologoe;
  • Rostov-Krasnodar;
  • Sochi region;
  • Adler - Maykop;
  • Krasnodar - Adler;
  • and in many other directions.

As can be seen from this long list, one of the most common modern trains is the Swallow train, the location of seats in the car of which differs from Sapsan and Allegro in several ways. For example, salons of suburban (ES1) and intercity type (ES2G and ES2GP) are provided. There are also several models of this train: "Swallow - Standard" and "Swallow - Premium". The latter is operated only in several directions (Moscow - Kursk, Moscow - St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg - Petrozavodsk). The regular composition has 409 seats, of which 30 are equipped with reclining backs, including 4 chairs for wheelchair users, and in the "Premium" - 331.

First of all, let's consider suburban train swallow, the layout of which is formed according to a fairly simple algorithm.

The train runs in two versions:

  • 5 wagons (if the flow of people is small);
  • 10 cars (double trains, which are operated with an increased flow of passengers).

In the compositions of the chair are divided into first, second and third class.

There are 67 third-class seats in the head cars of the ES1 train:

  • 8 per bay superior comfort;
  • 50 common;
  • 9 folding;
  • 2 places imply the placement of a wheelchair.

Healthy! Many are wondering " General places on the train - what is it? These places are no different from the usual reserved seat, the difference is only in their number. In a common carriage, not 2 people sit, but 3.

There are 103 seats in intermediate cars, 99 of which are not reclining and 4 are reclining.

In the same salons, only the Premium class, all seats are upholstered in a softer fabric. In this case:

  • 1 head car is designed for 33 seats for class 1 (1С) and 4 seats for class 2 (2С) of increased comfort.
  • The second head car has 45 seats for class 2 (4 of them are superior).

Premium trains also include intermediate cars, each with 86 second-class seats.

Seats of the 2nd and 3rd classes differ in rows, 3 and 2 seats, respectively. The only exceptions are the rows located next to the vestibules and inter-car spaces (in this case, the seats are placed according to the 2 + 2 principle).

Electric trains of the ES2G series differ from ES1 in terms of layout. In them, the head cars are designed for 66 seated seats and 9 folding (side) ones. There are 80 seats in intermediate cars. In ES2G, the seats are directed with their front side to the back of the previous row.

The carriages of the Lastochka train differ in many respects, but there are General characteristics, which are characteristic of all models of compositions, namely:

  • Car doors are opened exclusively at terminal stations. In order to leave the train at an intermediate station, you must use the doors in cars 2, 3, 7 and 9.
  • All train doors are equipped with automatic retractable steps for ease of boarding and disembarking passengers on low platforms.
  • Odd places in the compositions are located at the windows, because of this their number is less than even ones, so some numbers are not used when numbering (for example, 7 or 37).
  • Dry closets for people with handicapped are located in the head cars.

A detailed location of the places of the Lastochka trains and their schedule can be found on the official website.

The high-speed train "Strizh" was developed Spanish company Patentes Talgo SL, only this applies exclusively to train cars. Locomotives are used domestically, the EP20 series. New composition began to run between Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod summer 2015.

The Strizh train, the arrangement of seats in the carriage of which depends on its type, usually includes 18 carriages, of which:

  • 1-5 cars of the "Lux" type equipped with berths (CB);
  • 6-7 cars - this is a buffet and a restaurant;
  • 8-9 carriages with business class seats;
  • 10-18 economy class cars (seated).

The standard scheme of seats in the compartment car of the Strizh train is presented below. As you can see, each compartment is designed for two passengers, and is also equipped with a separate bathroom, shower and toilet.

As a rule, the numbering of seats in a business class reserved seat train starts from number 1, but further distribution occurs out of order (see the diagram below). At the same time, in carriages of this type, the seats are arranged in two rows (1+2).

IN seated cars in the second class, a socket is provided for each row of seats, and in the 1st class - for each seat.

Traveling on conventional trains long-distance, it is also worth considering the peculiarities of the numbering and location of seats.

Locations of seats in a standard reserved seat car

Far from all passengers can afford expensive soft compartments, so people are most interested in the location of seats in a reserved seat train car.

Each compartment has 3 luggage racks and 6 seats (2 side and 4 "transverse"). In total, there are 54 beds and 81 seats in a typical carriage. The sleeping berths are numbered from 1 to 36, and the side berths from 37 to 54. Consider the location of the seats on the train (reserved seat) in more detail:

  • 37 (lower shelf) and 38 (upper shelf). Seats under these numbers are located in compartment 9 and are adjacent to the toilet.
  • 39 and 40. They are located in compartment 8. Opposite these shelves are 29,30,31 and 32 places.
  • 41 and 42. Shelves of the seventh compartment, opposite which are 25,26,27 and 28 seats.
  • 43 and 44. They are located in 6 compartments, opposite them are 21,22,23 and 24 seats.
  • 45 and 46. Shelves of the fifth compartment, opposite which are places numbered 17,18,19 and 20.
  • 47 and 48. Places in 4 compartments, opposite them 13,14,15 and 16 regiments.

This is a standard arrangement of seats, but depending on the configuration of the train, the numbers can vary significantly, so it is better if, when buying a ticket, you will be provided with a seat map for a reserved seat train car of a specific composition.

If we talk about the most convenient reserved seats, then most people prefer the lower shelves, guided by the fact that they will not fall when the train moves. However, when choosing such an accommodation, you need to take into account the fact that throughout the journey, most likely, you will have to endure the company of a stranger from the top shelf who has full right sit on your bunk. In the upper place, although not so comfortable, but you will be left alone.

If you have a reserved seat train diagram with seat numbers in front of you, then even with the naked eye you will notice that the side shelves are the most inconvenient. In addition, they are shorter than the other beds, so in a dream your legs will hang in the air. Another unpleasant moment is that passengers will constantly walk past you. Therefore, it is better to choose the upper transverse shelf away from the toilet.

In addition to sleeping places, trains have ordinary seating chairs, which are also numbered according to certain rules.

Seating arrangement on the train

The numbering in cars with seats is no different from generally accepted standards (unless we are talking about modern high-speed trains). In conventional trains, there are usually about 10-12 such cars. At the same time, up to 28 seats are usually allocated for the first class, which are numbered from the tail in parallel rows. This means that the last 2 places on the right are numbered 1 and 2, and on the left side they are 3 and 4. Thus, the sequential numbering goes from the end on the right side, and on the left it continues.

Most often, no more than 7 seats are installed in the 1st class, and 8 in the second (for 36 seats). In this case, the numbering is done in the same way - from the end. Third-class carriages are usually equipped with 66 seats, due to which the level of comfort in such carriages drops significantly.

The seats on the Russian Railways train, the photos of which you see below, are not the only possible ones, since passenger transportation companies are allowed to make structural changes to the trains.

In addition to cost and convenience, it is worth paying attention to the precautions that will help you on a long journey.

If you are traveling by train, we recommend that you pay attention to the following recommendations:

  • The dining car or buffet are considered the most dangerous areas of the train. The fact is that tables are often not fixed in them, and there is also a large number of dishes that could break and injure passengers in the event of an accident. It is better to take food from the buffet with you.
  • According to statistics, during the accident, the head cars are most often affected.
  • If you got a side shelf in a reserved seat, lie down with your feet in the direction of movement.
  • Shelves in a compartment that are closer to the "head" of the composition are considered the safest.
  • Shelves are equipped with special protective sides, which are better to raise, especially during sleep.
  • For infants, use a playpen or carrycot.
  • Do not buy seats next to the toilet (17 and 18 in the "Lux" cars, 33-36 in the compartment, 33-38, as well as side 37 and 38 in the reserved seat, 49-57 and side 55-57 in the general car and seats under the number 9 in all types of wagons).
  • If you wish to bring a pet with you, please make sure it is in the small pet (companion) category. Also, for the transportation of cats, dogs, birds, rodents, non-venomous snakes and reptiles, an appropriate examination from a veterinarian will be required (for example, certificate form No. 4, certificates of series 6.1, 6.2, 6.3). All these documents must be valid for 5 days before transportation.
  • Children under the age of 14 must bring their original birth certificate or a notarized copy of it.

In custody

Be sure to study in detail all the seating arrangements that you are required to provide at the Russian Railways ticket office. This information and the one presented in the article will help you purchase tickets for the most comfortable and inexpensive places.

The reserved seat car includes 9 main compartments, called "compartments", 4 seats in each and side ones - 2 next to each compartment. Exactly half of the seats in each zone - 2 compartment shelves and 1 side seat - are located on the upper tier. In total, there are 54 numbered seats in the car.

ATTENTION: seats in the compartment for conductors are not included in this number.

The countdown starts from the entrance (where the compartment for workers is located) and goes clockwise. The first shelf is the one to the left of the window in the first zone. The last one is the side upper shelf in the same area.

Which places are:

  • bottom - all with odd numbers (1,3,5, etc.);
  • top - all with even numbers (2,4,6, etc.).

Side seats

"Sides" are numbered from 37 to 54.

The place with the smallest numerical designation is located next to the smoking vestibule in the lower tier.

As you move towards the entrance, the serial numbers of the side seats increase.

The shelf that is located on top is numbered with a higher number than the place below it.

Main branches

From 1 to 36 - these are places in fenced compartments. reserved seats are numbered by zones: in each next department, the lower shelf closest to the entrance receives a number one more than the number last place in the previous one.

Consider the numbering scheme using the example of the first department. The first number gets bottom place from the side of the working vestibule. The place above it is marked with the number 2. Opposite the second - shelf number 4. The lower "couch" opposite the first is the third in order. The same principle applies to the rest of the compartments.

"Special" trains

Branded compositions

REFERENCE: brand name compounds with improved conditions. They usually have their own names and are provided with seating.

In seated compartment-type cars (with compartments - in each of them the rows are located opposite each other), the numbering starts from the chair, which is closest to the working vestibule and the aisle.

Armchairs in the same row with him are marked with the numbers 2 and 3, respectively. In the row opposite, the countdown is from the window: opposite the third seat is the fourth, opposite the second - the fifth, the first - the sixth. In the next section, the order of the seats is determined by the same algorithm. This is how all the cars of the Nevsky Express are arranged, except for the first and twelfth.

In Sapsan, the order of seats depends on the class of the car. In premium class, the first three seats are next to luggage compartment. All window seats are odd. The seats are numbered from the first row to the driver's cab. In the first five rows there are no seats with numbers that are divisible by 4. Opposite the 21st seat, there are no 2 twin seats.

Seats in business and economy classes are numbered in ascending order from the luggage compartment to the toilet. At the aisle are odd places, at the windows - even. Numbering starts on the left side of the incoming one. In the first row on the left side there are seats 2.1, and on the right - 4 and 3. There are also seats in the 1st and 12th cars of the Nevsky Express.

The location of the shelves in the compartment of branded long-distance trains does not differ from that in standard ones.

Double deck cars

Seats on the ground floor double-decker train are numbered from the entrance to the toilets, on the second - in the same direction as from below. The floors are divided into compartments, each of which can accommodate up to 4 people. Side seats can not be shown, because they are not. Within each zone, seats are numbered according to the same principle as in the reserved seat in single-decker trains.

On the lower floor, the countdown starts from the number 1, on the upper floor - from 81.

If there is a choice, proceed from comfort considerations. On high-speed routes, window seats are odd and aisle seats are even. The larger the number, the closer the place to the "tail" with all the ensuing consequences. Remember that lying places marked with even numbers are always located in the upper tier, and odd ones in the lower one.

Outside the window, fields, houses, cities and villages flash by, wheels rattle, and fellow travelers are talking in a friendly manner - this is exactly the picture that is drawn when it comes to traveling by train. However, travel will be fundamentally different depending on what type of carriage you choose - compartment, reserved seat, or general. Let's take a closer look at what a reserved seat looks like and what are its features.

Differences of a reserved seat car

IN passenger car of the general type, only places for sitting are provided, in the reserved seat and compartment carriages, a division into compartments is provided and shelves are equipped to lie down. What distinguishes a reserved seat from a compartment is the presence of closing doors in a compartment car. Of course, it is more comfortable to ride in an isolated compartment through which other passengers do not pass, but there is one plus in compensation - a reserved seat car is much safer. That is, few people dare to commit a crime such as theft or something even more immoral in front of astonished passengers.

Why a reserved seat car?

This name is no longer relevant to the present, it was formed earlier from the word "reserved seat". This was the name of the special card that was attached by the passenger to travel ticket. On the card was indicated the number of the seat that the passenger could take in the car. All cars were divided into two types: reserved seats - with allocated seats and non-reserved seats - where passengers were accommodated in a free order.

Seats in a reserved seat car

If you look at the plan of a second-class car, you can see that the whole car is divided into 9 compartments, each of which provides 6 seats for passengers. Thus, it is easy to calculate how many seats in the reserved seat car - 54 seats. In each compartment, 3 shelves are located on the lower tier, 3 shelves on the upper one (odd numbers below, even numbers on top). In addition to the passenger compartments, there are 3 overhead luggage racks, 3 compartments for personal belongings under the lower shelves, 2 tables and 2 windows. The location of seats in the reserved seat is still divided according to the following principle - seats in the so-called compartment and side seats. The sides in the reserved seat correspond to numbers from 37 to 54.

Uncomfortable places in the reserved seat

Often, passengers are concerned about the question of which places in the reserved seat are better. But it's easier to first decide which is worse. So, the side seats are classified as “not the best”, since, in fact, they are located in the aisle, and even several centimeters narrower in width. The width of an ordinary lower shelf in a reserved seat car is about 60 cm, while the lower side one is about 55 cm. Passengers are also in no hurry to occupy seats near the toilet. One toilet is located near the conductor's compartment, so it is not avoided, the second toilet in the train of the reserved seat car is located at the opposite end and there are shelves numbered 35,36,37,38 just next to it. Another unsightly for travel can be attributed to compartments numbered 3 and 6 (seats from 9 to 12 and from 21 to 24), since they contain emergency exits in a carriage wagon. This suggests that there are no windows that can be opened to ventilate the compartment, and in the summer time is a major inconvenience. However, "branded" reserved seat with air conditioning is no longer a rarity, so the inconvenience of these places is relative.

Additional information about the reserved seat car

As mentioned above, in each car for the convenience of passengers there are two toilets with washbasins, two vestibules, one of which is allowed to smoke, a compartment for conductors (closable) and a water heater. Knowing the location of sockets in a reserved seat car can also be useful - usually they are located in the area of the second compartment from the beginning of the car and the second compartment from the end.

Now, going on a trip, choose comfortable and cozy places!

It is unlikely that any of us do not know what a reserved seat car is. This is the most popular type in the CIS railway transport. In addition, this unique phenomenon which you will not find anywhere else in the world. The reserved seats were invented in the Soviet Union under the Soviet reality and have remained in our lives for a long time.

A bit of history

Like many things in post-Soviet space, the reserved seat car got its name from a foreign word. It denoted a coupon (reserved seat), giving the right to occupy a specific place in the car. Free seat tickets meant that the passenger himself had to look for a free seat, or stand until it was free.

Over time, the non-reserved carriages were called common. But they differ from reserved seats only in an increased number of seats. In addition, nightly recumbent cars are often practiced today, tickets for which do not indicate a seat.

In general, it can accommodate 54 lying passengers or provides 81 seats.

How are the seats in the reserved seat car

In terms of their structure, cars of this type are large passenger compartments, which are divided by partitions into 9 compartments. They are interconnected by a common through corridor.

Each such compartment consists of 6 places: these are three upper and three lower shelves. The numbering goes clockwise from the working vestibule. Seats 1-36 are on its left side. At the same time, the side ones are numbered in reverse order: 37-54 from the non-working vestibule. All unpaired numbers are located on the lower shelves, and paired numbers are on the upper ones.

In addition to sleeping places, compartments are equipped with luggage racks and compartments. Above top spot the so-called third shelf is located, where mattresses are stored, and the passenger can leave his luggage. Under the lower seat there is also a compartment where you can hide your things.

Inside the quadruple compartment there is also a relatively large table where you can have a bite to eat or play Board games to pass the time. On the side seats, the role of the table is performed by central part the lower shelf in the unfolded position.

Wagon infrastructure

Except passenger seats, the reserved seat car has 2 toilets, a compartment for conductors, a service compartment, a water heater, and a compartment for controlling the heating system.

Single toilets are located on both sides of the car. They have metal toilets and sinks. A passenger with relative comfort can relieve his natural need here, wash, shave, brush his teeth. IN branded trains toilets have paper towels, soap and toilet paper. In ordinary trains, all this may not be.

Conductors are people who monitor the comfort of passengers on the road. Therefore, a special compartment with a door has been allocated for them, where they can relax and recuperate. There are two sleeping places in the compartment. At the same time, the layout of the reserved seat car is designed so that behind the next wall there is a service room with a control room that controls the life support systems in the car.

Comfort systems in the car

It should be noted that seats in a reserved seat car, the layout of which is rather specific, should equally be provided with comfortable conditions. To do this, the car has several important systems.

The first one is power supply. Each wagon is unique. Electricity comes from a generator that runs on the twin wheels of the wagon. This is enough to light all the places, power an electric water heater and provide 12 volts of current to the car sockets.

Also in reserved seats there is a water cooling system. Few people know, but every passenger has the right to free cold drinking water during the hot season. At the same time, its quantity is not limited, like boiling water in winter.

Also in the cars there is mandatory heating for the autumn-winter period. The air temperature inside should not be lower than 20 degrees Celsius. Also, all cars have forced ventilation, and modernized cars have an air conditioning system.

Responsibilities of a train attendant

Not everyone knows that seats in a reserved seat car, the scheme of which is chosen in a special way, must be served by conductors. Their duties include maintaining cleanliness in the car and other premises.

The conductors also provide bed linen, the rental price of which is included in the ticket price, and make sure that the passenger returns it on time. Behind additional fee the wagon worker can make hot drinks or lunch. But they give out medicines from the first aid kit, board games and clean cold / hot water completely free of charge.

The duties of conductors in post-Soviet trains are much broader than in European ones. For example, in Germany, the care of the passenger is completely entrusted to him, and the carriage employee only checks the availability of a ticket and helps to deal with the place, if necessary.

Disputes about the modernity of wagons

Many skeptics call the reserved seat car a relic of the past. Of course, the level of comfort in it is not at the highest level. But also compartment cars not much better. The lack of the opportunity to retire, extraneous noises, snoring and conversations of neighbors, unpleasant odors are everywhere. But the level of security in the reserved seat is higher.

Behind behind closed doors compartment, it is easier for a criminal to commit a robbery, rape or murder. In the reserved seats, everything is in plain sight. Therefore, there are few inveterate bandits who dare to commit a crime in such conditions.

Of course, the location of the reserved seat car in the hierarchy comfortable trips not the highest. At the same time, passengers choose it most often. Seats in such cars are cheaper, and the number of services received is sufficient to spend several hours of travel with relative comfort.

Therefore, it is too early to say that there is a worthy alternative to reserved seat cars. Their effectiveness has been proven by their high level of popularity among middle-class passengers.
