Communication of the secrets of the sea depths. Mystical secrets of the oceans and seas

Secrets of the ocean depths

People have been exploring the ocean since ancient times and yet they know incredibly little about it. It is really difficult to even realize its enormity and significance in our lives. All the rivers of the world would need to flow continuously for 40,000 years to fill it. The ocean is a rather complex system where weather originates, but we have thousands of times less information about it than about the earth's atmosphere. This is probably why the world's oceans are called the "great unknown". The ocean keeps its secrets securely.

One archaeological expedition carried out work near the islands of Bimini and Andros. Interest in this region of the ocean floor arose in 1968, after the pilot R. Brush saw from the air the outlines of impressive underwater structures. This fact interested a group of scientists headed by an expert on the pre-Columbian cultures of America, Professor M. Valentine. One of the first finds was a stone structure that looked like a temple. It is completely covered with algae. All around you could see traces of other buildings, underwater roads. The researchers estimate that the blocks used for construction weighed between 2 and 5 tons. Archaeologist Mason claims that the discovered structure is, without a doubt, man-made.

The limestone blocks that make up the walls are laid with such incredible accuracy that both the indigenous inhabitants of these places and the Lucayan Indians who lived here during the voyage of Columbus could hardly achieve this. Moreover, the Indians of this tribe never used stone during construction. The researchers also discovered a pavement made of rectangular and polygonal stones, as well as something like cobbled streets parallel to the main one, and masonry, similar to a fortress wall. Aerial photography showed that dozens of architectural objects are visible at a depth of 30 m near Bimini: ruined buildings, pyramids, the remains of a large arch, etc. The appearance of the city that had gone under water was looming.

1969, summer - two divers raised two big statues and part of a marble column, which were then taken on a yacht to America.

The second expedition, which carried out work in the same area three years later, discovered and described structures about 70 meters long, and even to the south of Andros Island photographed circles made of huge stones. According to archaeologists, most of all the buildings resemble a port with a double breakwater and stone embankments.

There is no doubt that the "city", and "roads", and "port" - all this was built on land and only later sank under the surface of the ocean. Was this sinking quick, catastrophic, or did it go on for centuries? So far, this question is difficult to answer. Just as it is impossible to determine who, what civilization created such complex objects. Of course, only one thing is the undoubted antiquity of the structure at the bottom of the Bahama Bank. M. Valentine determined the age stone road at 12,000 years old.

It is clear that civilization was highly developed. Even at a time when the ancestors of the Sumerians and Egyptians learned to plow the land and shoot from a bow, the Bahamians used the port with breakwaters and stone embankments. It turns out that they had a navy, there was an urban culture. It should be noted that the stones for construction were brought by sea from afar. 1973 - geologist P. Karnak from France wrote that the blocks that make up the walls near Bimini "do not belong to any of the rocks on the island."

The last decades have been successful for researchers. In clear weather, the pilots saw underwater channels or roads stretching along the coast of Eastern Yukotan and going into the depths of the sea. It also became known that not far from the coast of Venezuela, a wall stretches along the bottom of the sea with a duration of about 100 miles (more than 160 km). It is also known: about underwater structures with an area of 4 hectares north of Cuba; about the foundations of buildings on the slopes of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (near Azores), visible only in a very clear, sunny weather; about the ruins under water near the island of Boavista in the Zeleny Mys archipelago; about four giant buildings and paved roads leading to them, discovered by archaeologist M. Asher off the coast of Spain.

Many times scuba divers have dived to the seabed in different parts of the planet and found new and new evidence of life distant from us for centuries and millennia.

A diver from France, Jacques Maillol, discovered near Morocco, at a depth of 20-40 m, a stone wall 14 km long. The list of discoveries of recent decades includes an underwater mine with vertical passages, quarries and rock heaps, and steps carved into the shallow part of the continental shelf, going into the depths.

If the version of the artificial origin and great antiquity of at least some of these architectural objects in the Atlantic is finally confirmed, it will be possible to speak with confidence about an unknown lost civilization.

1964, August - two French naval officers, Captain Georges Wat and Lieutenant Gerard de Froberville, said that north coast In Puerto Rico, while diving in the research submarine Archimedes to a depth of 8 km, they found a staircase carved into a large rock on a sloping seabed, apparently made by a man.

40 km from American city Madison is located Lake Rock. Its width is 4 km, length is 8 km. At the beginning of the last century locals, the Wilson brothers, said that they noticed a stone structure underwater that looked like a pyramid. Nature itself contributed to this discovery, it was a dry year, and the water level in the lake was very low. The Wilsons said they even reached the crest of the wall with an oar.

1936 - local doctor F. Morgan, flying on a seaplane over Rock Lake, saw three whole underwater pyramids. What he told became the property of the press. The lake attracted attention. An experienced diver M. Noel went down to the bottom and, having risen, said that he had been near one of the buildings. "She looked like a cut cone 10 meters high."

The mystery of Rock Lake was seriously returned after another 30 years. 1967, summer - two groups of scuba divers were working underwater. They found several structures. One was square, the other was rectangular. There was no doubt that at the bottom of the lake there is a whole " architectural ensemble". Who, when, why and - most importantly - how built these mysterious objects at the bottom? After all, underwater construction work is incredibly difficult even for the technology of our time. Studies have shown that the pyramids and buildings were built about 10,000 years ago. What culture could have worked so hard on the American continent, building this architectural miracle under water? There is no answer to this question yet.

1970 - while diving off one of the Bahamas, Ray Brown found a mysterious pyramid that struck with its smooth, downright mirror-like surface. Moreover, the connections between the blocks from which the pyramid was built were almost indistinguishable. Soon the researcher saw the entrance to this strange building and decided to get inside. Passing through a narrow passage, Brown found himself in a rectangular room, the walls of which were impeccably smooth: they were not covered with seaweed or coral, as one might expect. Brown did not take a flashlight with him, but, nevertheless, everything around was clearly visible, since the room was illuminated, although there were no sources of light in it. In the center of the room, Brown found a crystalline sphere four inches in diameter. Leaving the pyramid, he took this sphere with him. Rightly believing that the mysterious find could be confiscated from him, he did not speak about its existence for a long time.

It wasn't until 1978 that Brown showed the mysterious crystalline sphere at a psychology seminar in Phoenix. Since then, the area has been scrutinized. As it turned out, upon closer examination, one could see the image of three pyramids in the sphere ...

1992 - an American oceanographic research vessel that performed cartographic work found in the center, in size, to a large extent exceeding the pyramid of Cheops. Processing of reflected sonar signals suggested that the surface of the pyramid is absolutely smooth, which is certainly unusual for known materials that are overgrown with algae and shells. At the same time, the surface of the pyramid was very similar to a vitreous substance. Pictures of the underwater structure were shown at a press conference in Florida immediately after the expedition.

In South America - Titicaca - one of the world's largest alpine lakes, its length is about 170 km, the depth reaches 230 m. To the southeast of it are the ruins of the strange, bizarre city of Tiahuanaco. Underwater research, which was started back in 1955, made it possible to discover ruins at the bottom of the lake. Argentinean R. Avellaneda discovered in the depths of the lake an alley of stone slabs almost 0.5 km long, stretching parallel to the shore. Late divers stumbled upon walls as high as a man. They were located very strangely - at a distance of about five meters from one another, and so in 30 rows. The walls rested on a common foundation of mighty stone blocks. The entire sunken architectural complex stretched for more than 1 km.

1968 - an expedition headed by the French oceanologist J.I. Cousteau visited the bottom of the lake. The expedition had a huge amount of different equipment; she had two submarines at her disposal. At the end of the studies, Avellaneda's data were confirmed; in addition, archaeologists have emphasized the amazing perfection of stonework.

Research at the bottom of Lake Titicaca continues to this day. For example, an expert on pre-Columbian cultures, the Bolivian H.B. Rojo, said: “We found temples ... and stone paths that lead to no one knows where, and stairs, the bases of which are hidden in the depths of the lake and braided with seaweed.”

Turns out, part of a giant ancient city, and possibly the whole country, once went under water? But when, under what circumstances? Many researchers believe that the reason for the death of the Tiahuanaco culture was a gigantic catastrophe.

1960s Soviet expedition received a curious picture of the bottom of the Atlantic in the area of the Ampère Seamount. You might think that the photo shows masonry, the lines in the picture are so distinct and geometrically correct. There is nothing strange and contrary to the data of science in the fact that in ancient times there was a mainland or an island, which, as a result of a catastrophe, went under water and carried away traces of a lost civilization.

In the mid-1970s, the results of an American scientific expedition were widely discussed, which stated that they had found traces of ancient civilization. The divers of this expedition, organized by Pepperdine University from California, discovered the ruins of the ancient city. A member of the expedition, the English scientist E. Sykes, suggested that the city that had sunk to the bottom was the legendary Atlantis of the ancients.

The California expedition included leading scientists from various countries in search of Atlantis. As soon as the archaeologist M. Asher found the ruins about 30 km from the coast at a depth of 25-30 meters ancient city(the remains of four cyclopean buildings with stone-paved roads), the scientific council decided to publish a message about this sensational discovery. Descriptions and even drawings of the ancient settlement appeared in the largest European newspapers and magazines. The scientists who took part in the expedition announced: this find is the largest discovery in the history of mankind at the bottom Atlantic Ocean.

While many people look into space in awe, they forget that incredible vistas of unexplored wonders may be much closer - in the earth's oceans. As technology improves, the ocean continues to reveal more and more secrets.

1. Large amorphous creature

Recently, a video was posted online showing a giant amorphous blob-like creature swimming near a deep sea drilling rig. The creature pulsed near the underwater cameras for long enough to draw attention to itself. Luminous from the inside, an incredibly huge being constantly fluctuated and changed its shape.

Some suggested that it was a completely unknown creature from the depths of the ocean. Others thought it might be evidence of some kind of alien presence at a depth where humans cannot reach. Most of the researchers said that this is a giant jellyfish that was disturbed by a drilling rig.

2. Crystal pyramid in the depths of the ocean

There are many stories about strange crystal pyramids that were found deep in the ocean, presumably not far from the Bermuda Triangle. Those who insist on the existence of such artifacts claim that most scientists know about them, but deny everything for conspiratorial reasons.

However, the vast majority of researchers insist that these tales of crystal pyramids under the ocean are misleading. Similar stories allegedly began to appear after the scammers announced that they had found a broken piece of crystal, which supposedly had magical properties, near the top of one of these pyramids.

3. The secret of immortality

Benjamin Button's Jellyfish has an incredibly unique feature. If they face serious injury or simply reach a respectable age, then these jellyfish can reverse the aging process and turn back into a polyp, starting the life cycle again. This allows them to heal from injuries and live essentially forever, which is currently a great threat to the world's oceans.

Button's jellyfish begin to populate parts of the oceans, breaking the entire balance of marine life. Although many scientists doubt that people can find the reason for the true immortality of jellyfish today, others argue that in the future this will become possible for people. At the very least, this could be a cure for cancer.

4. Atlantis - reality or fiction

Many theories about lost city Atlantis is absolutely wild and fantastic. Some say Atlantis is in bermuda triangle, although the legends never mention her presence in the area. Others believe that the domed cities of Atlantis are still preserved deep underwater.

A historian named Bettany Hughes studied the ancient myth of Atlantis and realized that Plato, probably under the guise of Atlantis, allegorically described the island of Santorini, located near ancient Greece. The people who lived in Thera, a city on this island, were very skilled merchants and merchants who benefited from a strategic position between three continents. This allowed them to become very wealthy and lead Feret to prosperity.

Unfortunately, the inhabitants of the island had no idea that they were actually living right on top of the volcano. In 1620 BC the volcano literally exploded with an eruption, and the explosion was so huge that it affected almost the entire world. Plato had almost certainly heard of him. The remains of There are perfectly preserved, like the famous city of Pompeii, which also died from a volcanic eruption.

5. Intelligent life could be much closer

The scientific explanation for the mermaid legend implies that sailors were often at sea for long periods of time without women and drinking frequently, so it is not surprising that they experienced visual hallucinations mistaking manatees for mermaids. However, the ocean is very great place and mostly unexplored. Nobody knows what's going on in the depths. Humans are always looking for intelligent life that looks like humans, but it can look and behave very differently.

6. The main enemy is pressure

Many people are surprised at the incredible amount of money being spent on space exploration when the ocean is right next to it and is still largely unexplored. They cite for comparison the colossal costs of spacecraft and space stations, believing that the cost of studying the ocean could be ten times less.

In fact, in many ways the problem of studying the ocean is much larger. After all, at a depth of only a couple of kilometers, the pressure becomes simply unimaginable, which is why a completely scanty amount of the deep part of the ocean has been explored so far. If new technologies do not appear at the root, then people will not soon know what is hidden in the oceans of the Earth.

7. The largest earthly creature

Many people have speculated about what kind of sea monsters might be lurking at depths where humans can't reach. Giant squids, which were previously considered a myth, have already been found, which can really reach incredible sizes. In fact, even many normal fish can grow to nightmarishly large sizes under the right conditions in the deep ocean.

It is not surprising that people have been thinking for a long time, what is the biggest and most terrible thing that can live in the depths. Even if you remember the time of the dinosaurs, the largest creature did not exceed the size of the modern blue whale. However, much of the ocean remains unexplored, especially in deeper areas, so no one knows what monstrously huge creatures lurk almost next to people.

8. The ocean is 95 percent unexplored

Some may have heard that the ocean is "95 percent unexplored". Marine biologists consider this to be a very gross oversimplification. Scientists today, using satellites, radar and mathematical calculations, have created a map of the ocean floor with a maximum resolution of 5 kilometers. While these are still very rough sketches, marine biologists have a pretty good idea of where depressions and mountain ranges are in the ocean.

However, marine biologist John Copley, while pointing out the fallacy of the meme, also admitted to Scientific American that humans have actually explored far less than 5 percent of the ocean.

9. Methane hydrate - a new source of energy

Methane hydrate - strange crystalline structures of water and methane frozen together. Ever since the discovery of gas hydrate deposits decades ago, governments have begun to seriously explore hydrates as a form of alternative energy.

Methane hydrates are certainly very useful in case of a shortage of other natural gases, but there are certain problems. First, as with any subsea exploration, commercial production will be very expensive. And secondly, environmentalists fear that underwater drilling can lead to real disasters.

10. Unraveling the sound of "Bloop"

Back in 1997, people were baffled by a sound recorded underwater not far from South America. It was loud enough to be clearly picked up by two different stations a few kilometers apart, and many people thought it was the sound of a colossal deep sea creature.

Some people even suggested that this is the notorious Cthulhu, whose mythical place of imprisonment ( underwater city R'Lieh) is supposedly located a couple of thousand kilometers from the stations that picked up the sound. In the end, scientists came to the conclusion that the sounds were just the crackling of ice shelves cracking underwater.

Our planet may seem like one big ocean, as it is covered by 361 million square kilometers of water and this makes up approximately 70.8% of the entire surface of the Earth. Besides, average depth water ranges from 3.8 to 10 kilometers, 10-kilometer depths are known as " ocean trenches". So, given all these facts about the surface of the water, it is not surprising that there are a lot of strange stories about what is under the current surface.

Just think, less than 5% of the ocean has been explored! This means that there is 95% of the underwater world that has yet to be discovered. Moreover, humanity must do this without being afraid to encounter frightening and strange things in the course of research that can turn the ideas of science about the world upside down. At the moment, scientists and divers regularly embark on a variety of underwater missions, in an attempt to solve a large number of mysteries that have concerned the depths of the sea for a huge period of time.

The ocean is indeed a poorly studied territory, and therefore it is an object of increased interest of scientists. Every year they discover new species of marine life under the water column, as well as a lot of bizarre objects. And, since it is impossible to find out what is in the depths of ocean waters without special equipment, one can only guess what this both beautiful and destructive element can hide in itself.

15. The Mystery of Human Feet in the Salish Sea

This story is not for the faint of heart. Known for its majestic mountains, peaceful scenery and calming climate, British Columbia that in Canada is rarely at the center of dangerous or shocking events. However, Salish Beach is an exception, since since 2008 several remains of human feet have been discovered on its sandy shoreline! That's right, and at the moment the number of finds has reached sixteen. Feet are usually found inside shoes, whether sneakers, boots or boots.

The mystery of the situation is also given by the fact that even despite the investigations, in many cases the identity of the owner of the found foot remained unknown. This is often used by scammers. To attract tourists, they toss fake feet on the coastline. What kind of tricks are people not ready to go for the sake of profit. It's just inhuman!

14. Mysterious message

Most of us, being near the sea, have done this or at least thought about it. It's a message in a bottle. A person writes a note, folds it, puts it in a bottle and throws it into the vast expanse of the ocean, having previously corked it. Now the bottle has been given to the will of the elements, and it is completely unknown where it can go. However, it is possible that it will fall into the hands of a person and he may even answer the message. And the answer is exactly what the person who threw the bottle is hoping for. Especially if that person is in mortal danger. As, for example, happened with a crew of 23 sailors who were rescued by the military forces of Great Britain and the United States from a ship hijacked by Somali pirates. It may sound unbelievable, but it's true.

The crew was locked in a safe compartment of the ship, and all the time they were there they sent messages through the windows asking for help. With the help of these messages, the crew members of ships located nearby could know exactly where the prisoners were locked up, as well as about their condition.

The rescue team began the operation suddenly, so that the Somali pirates did not expect a round-up and, due to their unpreparedness for confrontation, were forced to surrender to the military, without guessing what their location had betrayed. All the hostages were rescued and the pirates were arrested, so the story ends happily. However, the piracy situation is getting out of control, with several cases of Somali pirates attacking ships every year.

13. Mary Celeste

Ghost ships are a standard attribute for a scary ocean history. And the ship Mary Celeste is one of them. The ship was discovered in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean in 1872, in a terrible condition, broken and disheveled by the waves of the sea, without any sign of the crew. Due to the absence of a rescue ship, it was suggested that the crew abandoned the ship before it completely wrecked. However, all of the crew's personal belongings and a large amount of cargo, such as alcohol and food, were found intact.

Naturally, around the circling of the ship and the mysterious disappearance of the crew, many various hypotheses arose. Starting with the hypothesis of an ocean earthquake and ending with versions of paranormal activity and insurance fraud. But, most likely, the answer will never be found. However, with recent reports of giant sea monster activity suggesting that there is an explanation for the Mary Celeste mystery. Albeit not quite normal.

12. Orang Medan

Ghost ships are very mysterious phenomena, but perhaps the most mysterious and somewhat frightening is the Orang Medan ship. In particular, the history of the ship's crew is interesting. It is very actively discussed, but at the same time it is entirely based on conjecture, and it is not possible to prove what happened on the ship that day. The story goes that in 1948 a distress signal was received off the coast of Sumatra and Malaysia.

The transcript of the radio message reads: All officers, including the captain, are dead. Everyone is dead and soon it will come for me". Then a strange noise entered the transmission and the sailor said: I'm dead…"Having received the message, two American ships set off in search of Orang Medan. Stepping on board the ship, they were horrified: human corpses were scattered throughout the ship, and an expression of wild horror froze on their faces. Among the versions of the event - biological warfare, scientific experiments, chemical and, of course, paranormal activity.

11 Disappearing Submarines

The most terrible ocean secrets, along with ghost ships, are kept by submarines. When it was found out that three huge Dutch submarines from the Second World War had gone somewhere from the bottom of the Java Sea, the topic of disappearing submarines gained great resonance and the country's government began to find out what could happen. The wreckage of the boats, first discovered in 2002, is the result of the Battle of the Java Sea.

This battle is considered one of the most costly naval battles of all time. Huge losses were suffered by Dutch, British, American and Australian troops. In addition to the fact that this battle caused a monstrous financial cost, it is also considered one of the deadliest in history, with almost 2,200 people killed.

And since then, the sunken ships, left to lie at the bottom of the sea, have rightfully acquired the significance of sacred military graves. However, suddenly they all suddenly disappeared, leaving only a lot of questions in their place.

10 Cuban City

Cuba is a very curious place, both on land and underwater. Recently there has been renewed interest in the mysterious Cuban underwater city. It was mentioned for the first time in 2001. Several strange and symmetrical ancient stone statues were reportedly found at a depth of 600 to 750 meters. They were discovered by a couple who were working on a search and reconnaissance mission with the Cuban government.

It was possible to detect an underwater city with the help of a robot. Judging by the images of the pyramids, made of stone and granite, the city once upon a time was the habitat of the people who built these pyramids. But what kind of people they were, and when exactly they lived, remains a mystery.

9. Kaz II

Found drifting along the coast of Australia in 2007, the Kaz II is one of today's ghost yachts. Kaz II is comparable to Mary Celeste. The yacht was obviously heading upstream towards the glorious sun of northern Australia. A worried rescue team boarded the yacht to check if everything was in order, but did not find a soul on board. It was as if everyone just took it and mysteriously disappeared.

Three people are missing, including yacht owner Derek Batten and brothers Peter and James. Strangely, a set table was found on deck with cutlery and food laid out, as well as a laptop turned on. The engine was still running and the boat's emergency systems, including radio and GPS, were operational. Life jackets were intact on board, and the lifeboat was raised aft. The fate of these missing men is still unknown. What could have happened?

8 Cannibal Shark

As already mentioned, scientists have a special interest in what is hidden in the depths of the ocean waters, and this pushes them to conduct experiments. One such experiment, which consists of constantly monitoring a great white shark, has yielded far greater results than expected.

Australian scientists tracked a healthy and predatory marine life as part of an experiment, and later the shark that was being monitored was found half eaten on the beach. Puzzled by the question of what such a huge animal could have eaten, scientists began to wonder if there was anything else in the ocean that could match the ferocity of the great white shark.

Soon there was speculation that the animal that attacked the shark could also be a shark. The so-called cannibal shark. However, this hypothesis has not yet been confirmed, and one can only guess what kind of dangerous monster is hiding in the ocean.

7. Japanese Atlantis

Like the underwater world found around Cuba, Japan has its own " Atlantis". It was discovered off the coast of Yonaguni. There is controversy as to who created the Yonaguni monument. One part of the researchers claims that they were created by man, the other - that they are natural. However, the Japanese are not so much concerned about the origin of the monument as its cultural significance. In particular, they are interested in the accumulation of strange monuments known as " Turtle».

It can be assumed that the structure was exposed to paranormal forces, since a large number of scratches of an unknown origin were found on the surfaces. It is hoped that the Japanese government will become more involved in the future in order to conduct research and try to find out why this mysterious structure still exists.

6. Aliens

First discovered in 1995 on the ocean floor off southern Japan, mysterious circles, left by underwater inhabitants, have now become commonplace. For local divers, this is an unsolvable mystery. The rest of the people are persistently trying to find out about the origin of these circles. Many began to attribute to them extraterrestrial theories of origin, and thus arose the theory that aliens really lived under water, and not above it, as is usually believed.

The idea that the mysterious circles are nothing more than traces of alien ships quickly spread all over the world's media. And, since interest in the mystery persisted, soon, in 2011, the answer was received. Scientists, observing the surface where the circles formed, found that everything is much simpler than it might seem. The fact is that the mysterious circles are created by male fish only a few centimeters long.

They do this in order to impress the female. This story is a great example of the importance of researching the issue and examining the evidence before taking anything for granted.

5. Mystery of the Baltic Sea

First discovered in 2011, a mysterious object at the bottom Baltic Sea baffled scientists around the world. He was named " an anomaly of the Baltic Sea"and likened to" Millennium Falcon", piloted by Hans Solo in the film" star Wars ". There is an idea that the object has some forces that are capable of incapacitating diving equipment at a certain distance.

In addition to supernatural powers, the object was also endowed with a mass of all kinds of abilities, on the basis of which, in turn, new and new theories were built. However, it is still not clear what constitutes anomaly of the Baltic Sea": a fragment of a destroyed ship, an alien vessel, or something completely different.

4. Manfred Fritz Bayorath

Found on board his drifting yacht off the coast of Barabo in the southern Philippines, German sailor Manfred Fritz Bayorath did not look like an ordinary corpse. He was described as being in " mummified state”, although an autopsy later revealed that Fritz had died for only seven days. Horrifying to those who found it, the body also shocked the world, especially when photographs became available showing the extent of its mummification.

Although some argue that the dry and salty climate may have contributed to mummification, it remains unclear how it could have occurred in such a short amount of time. The man was found in a pose, leaning on a chair and resting his head on his shoulder, from which forensics suggested that the death was unexpected, explaining this as a possible heart attack.

3. Julia

People perceive most of the information through the visual channel through vision, therefore, as a rule, it is what we see that scares us the most. However, what about sound? Recordings of sounds recorded underwater can sometimes cause the same anxiety and fear as video. An example of this would be " Julia". This recording contains one of the most powerful sounds recorded underwater, as well as one of the most mysterious.

Recorded in 1999, the sound " Julia" was originally thought to be the sound of an iceberg running aground. However, it lasted about 15 seconds, and theorists decided that this was too long a period of time. And it's most likely something else. Perhaps these sounds were made by some animal unknown to science. But then, this animal must be gigantic in size! Listen to the recording Julia and decide for yourself.

2 Bermuda Triangle

Known all over the world, the Bermuda Triangle is one of the most popular horror stories at night. But what is it? Also known as the Devil's Triangle, the region is located in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean. A huge number of plane crashes and shipwrecks have occurred on its territory, so it is believed that the triangle is cursed or at least has some kind of paranormal activity. It is still a mystery why so many disasters happened there.

Every year new facts emerge about the triangle, which makes it possible to create documentaries and investigate the issue more thoroughly. Quite often, assumptions are made about the mythical connection of the Bermuda Triangle with the lost city of Atlantis. In addition, given the significant impact on culture left by the triangle (films, books, songs), it is obvious that theories about the Bermuda Triangle will gradually only multiply, and the mysterious context in which it is shrouded will intensify.

1. Sea monsters

95% of the world's oceans is a huge unexplored territory. What secrets can she keep? It is quite obvious that if the explored space contains so many things that amaze the human imagination, then the rest of the space must be fraught with something stunning. First of all, the hypothesis of the existence of new animal species is interesting.

Almost every year, scientists discover more and more new species of marine life. Many of them amaze with their quirkiness. It is possible that one day the researchers will stumble upon some sea monster hiding under the waves from the human eye. There are stories about the existence of underwater inhabitants. Among them, for example, the story of the Loch Ness monster and giant squids. It is believed that they hide among the most dark depths ocean, preying on what we think of as giant predators.

There is evidence of the reality of their existence. In addition to photographs of these creatures, there are also many eyewitness accounts. As a rule, the monster is described as having an abnormally small head, gigantic fins, and a long, powerful tail, the length of an entire ship. Probably, the monsters are hiding under the water column, and their discovery is only a matter of time.

Along with Julia, which was mentioned above, several more inexplicable sounds were recorded at the bottom of the ocean. The most mysterious of them are presented in the video.

On a July morning in 1850, the inhabitants of the village of Eastons Beach on the coast of Rhode Island were surprised to see a sailing ship coming from the sea under full sail to the shore. It stopped in shallow water. When people boarded, they found that coffee was boiling on the galley stove, plates were arranged on the table in the saloon. But the only living creature on board was a dog trembling with fear, huddled in a corner of one of the cabins. Not a single person was on the ship.

Cargo, navigational instruments, maps, sailing directions and ship's documents were all in place. The last entry in the logbook said: "Beamed Brenton Reef" (this reef is only a few miles from Eastons Beach).

It was known that the Seabird sailed with a cargo of wood and coffee from the island of Honduras. However, even the most thorough investigation conducted by the Americans did not reveal the reasons for the disappearance of its crew from the sailing ship. Where have the people gone?

"Mary Celeste"

At noon on December 4, 1872, the sailing ship Mary Celeste was spotted from the English brig Dea Gracia, 600 miles west of Gibraltar. The ship was then brought to the wind, then again fell away, making intricate zigzags. To an experienced eye, it was clear that no one was steering the ship.
Soon sailors from the Dei Gracia boarded the brigantine. There was not a soul on deck. The wind howled through the torn foremast rigging, and the tattered sails cracked against the mast and yardarms. There was no lifeboat on the keel blocks.

On the table of the captain's cabin rested maps, directions, books. A brief entry in the logbook stated that the ship had safely reached almost the point where it had been spotted from the Dei Grazia.

It soon became clear that the chronometer, sextant and declination table of the sun were missing, and the ship's compass was lying broken in the corner of the cabin. In the desk drawer they found a significant amount of money, a box with women's jewelry. There was undoubtedly a woman on the brigantine: a sewing machine was found in the next cabin, on which lay an unfinished children's shirt.

Inspection of the sailor's quarters led the sailors into even greater bewilderment. The bunks were neatly removed, all the lockers were intact, and on the table lay ... half-smoked pipes!.

Found a large stock in the galley fresh water, flour, corned beef, potatoes, vegetables, freshly baked bread…
In the hold, the sailors saw even rows of wooden barrels - they counted exactly 1700. There was alcohol in the barrels.
What could have happened to the crew? The commission appointed to investigate made many suggestions, including the most fantastic ones. So, for example, it was alleged that the crew of the brigantine fell victim to the attack of gigantic octopuses. The version about the rebellion of the team, the murder of the captain and his family seemed unlikely. Most likely, the commission suggested, for some reason the ship was abandoned by the crew, which subsequently either died at sea or was picked up by some ship. But several months passed, and the Mary Celeste team did not declare itself in any of the ports of the world. The Commission confessed that it was unable to offer any satisfactory solution to this story. And again there is no answer to the question: what happened to the people from the "Mary Celeste"?

"Abiy Ess Hart"

In September 1894, the three-masted barque Ebiy Ess Hart was spotted in the Indian Ocean from the German steamship Pikkuben. A distress signal fluttered from its mast. When the German sailors landed on the deck of the sailing ship, they saw that all 38 crew members were dead, and the captain went crazy.

» Freya»

On October 3, 1902, the German four-masted bard Freya left the Mexican port of Manzanillo. After 17 days, it was found half-flooded, with a strong roll to the port side. The topmasts of the sailboat's masts were broken, and the crew was absent. no storms at west coast Mexico was not observed at that time. The reasons for the disappearance of the crew remained unclear.

"Carroll Deering"

At eight ten minutes on January 31, 1921, a lighthouse keeper from Cape Hatteras spotted a large five-masted schooner. She was sitting on the outer edge of the Diamond Shoals. All her sails were removed, the lifeboats were gone. When the tug landed the emergency party on the Carroll Deering, it turned out that “there was no one on the schooner. Cargo, personal belongings of the team and provisions were intact. But the logbook, chronometer, sextants were absent. The ship's compass and part of the navigational instruments were broken, the steering was disabled. The reasons for the disappearance of the captain and nine sailors could not be explained. The only living creature found on the schooner was the ship's cat.

"Urang Medan"

In February 1948, merchant ships located in the Strait of Malacca near the island of Sumatra received a distress signal by radio: “SOS. Motor ship "Urang Medan". The ship continues to follow its course. Maybe all the members of our crew have already died.” Then came a series of incoherent dots and dashes, but at the end of the radiogram it clearly read: "I'm dying."

Soon the Dutch ship "Urang Medan" was discovered by English sailors. His entire team was dead. On the faces of the dead, an expression of horror froze.

The British wanted to tow the ship to the nearest port, but suddenly a fire broke out in its hold.
A few minutes later, a monstrous explosion thundered over the expanses of the Indian Ocean. Breaking in half, "Urang Medan", engulfed in thick clouds of smoke, disappeared into the abyss.

"Cholchu"

In February 1953, the sailors of the English ship "Rani", being two hundred miles from Nicobar Islands, found a small cargo ship "Kholchu" in the ocean. The ship was damaged by the elements, its mast was broken. Although the lifeboats were in place, the crew was absent. In the holds there was a cargo of rice, in the bunkers - a full supply of fuel and water. Where the five members of his crew disappeared is still a mystery.
And how many such ghost ships are still ocean waves? Will we ever know the causes of the tragedies? Hardly. Time and the ocean know how to keep their secrets...
A. BOCHEK, sea captain

Well, incidents that seem to find no explanation for themselves have accumulated quite a lot in the entire history of the navy. However, are they so inexplicable?

Take, for example, the case of Mary Celeste. The middle of the XIX century, the heyday of the sailing fleet of many countries of Europe and America. Ruthlessly exploiting seafarers, shipowners forced them to work 14-16 hours a day. Poor nutrition, disgusting living conditions, and assault often led the teams to rebellion, which, apparently, happened on the Mary Celeste. Having committed reprisals against the captain and not being able to stay on the ship, the crew abandoned the ship in fear of punishment, and tried to get to the shore on some lifeboat.

At first glance, the mysterious death of the "Seabird" seems unresolvable. But who was interested in the disappearance of the crew and the death of the ship? Of course, the shipowner, especially if the Seabird brig was old and unprofitable. The insurance premium seemed to tempt the captain into staging the tragedy. It is almost impossible to sink a ship loaded with timber and coffee. To receive insurance compensation, the crew had to disappear without a trace, and the ship mysteriously go ashore.

The most difficult thing to explain is the case of the barque Abiy Ess Hart. The death of the entire crew, with the exception of the captain, is an almost unbelievable event.

In 1909 I was in a group of cadets making an inventory of the islands of the Amur Estuary. A carpenter worked with us, a man of about sixty, an Estonian by nationality, very gloomy, gloomy and unsociable.
We knew that this man had been in hard labor for a long time, and we treated him tactfully and kindly. This softened him, and one day, sitting by the fire, he began to talk.

... The tragedy occurred in the seventies of the last century. At the age of 15, the carpenter entered as a cabin boy on a sailing ship sailing in the Baltic ... Then there was a vile custom on ships. The crew usually chose someone from the team for cruel jokes and ridicule, and often for beatings. And if this person could not defend his dignity with his fists, he was driven to the most extreme despair.

This is what happened to the carpenter. Unable to leave work due to need, the cabin boy decided to take revenge on his offenders by committing a crime. He poisoned the entire crew and himself moved ashore on a boat. The court sentenced him to a long exile on Sakhalin.

It is possible that something similar could have happened on the barge Abiy Ess Hart. The captain of the barque could avoid the common fate, since, perhaps, he did not take part in the persecution of a person who went to kill the crew. And being at sea with a dead crew on board could lead him to madness over time.
But there is nothing mysterious about the incident with the German barque Freya. Although the weather reports did not strong winds, the very fact of the loss of masts, the list of the ship indicate that the ship was subjected to a severe squall and, being helpless, was carried away to open ocean. Radio communications did not yet exist at that time, and then there was almost no chance to meet any ship far from the coast of America. Therefore, it was decided to leave the ship and try to get to the shore on boats ...

Let us also explain the case of the American schooner Carroll Dearing. The ship had a slanting armament, the sails could be easily removed in a short time. But landing a ship on a shallow in the open ocean is very dangerous, so the crew left the schooner with such haste. In such cases, the ship's command takes with them a logbook for their justification and, of course, a sextant and a chronometer to determine their place in the sea.

The fact that the ship's compass and steering were damaged is a sure sign that the schooner was hit by ocean swell.

In the area of Cape Hatteras there is a strong constant current to the northwest. If at that time the wind was blowing from the shore, the boats from the schooner were carried away by the current into the open ocean, where they could die.
The sinking of the Dutch steamer "Urang Medan" looks very gloomy. But there are fewer secrets here. The steamer was loaded with poisonous chemicals, flammable and possibly mixed with some explosives. This cargo, apparently, was not hermetically sealed and began to penetrate in the form of gas into residential and office premises, resulting in the death of people, and then - from the explosion - and the ship.

Thus, almost all these mysterious and terrible occurrences can find quite real explanations.

THE TERRIBLE SILENCE OF INFRASOUND

All the cases described by L. Skryagin testify to the presence of some kind of single phenomenon, characterized by the following circumstances: from a ship that is still able to continue sailing, the entire crew and passengers, without exception, suddenly disappear. None of the disappeared people remain alive. “Something makes people disappear within a few, literally a few minutes, because before that everyone was busy with their own affairs, unaware of the danger. However, even the meager facts at our disposal allow us to discover the following three regularities:
1) the effect of the phenomenon is strictly localized by the sea basin;
2) almost all cases occurred in clear, relatively calm weather;
3) most cases occurred in winter (for this hemisphere) time.

At the beginning of the thirties, a play was staged in a theater, the action of which in the middle was unexpectedly transferred back three hundred years. In order to enhance the psychological impact on the audience and somehow portray the "heavy pace of the centuries", the director turned to the famous physicist Robert Wood for help.
Wood suggested using an ordinary organ pipe, but only of such dimensions that infrasound, which is not audible to the ordinary human ear, was emitted. The effect exceeded all expectations. When the trumpet started to work, the audience was seized with panic, and they rushed out of the theater. It seemed to them that an earthquake had begun and the building was about to collapse. Panic also gripped the residents of neighboring houses.

It is known that when a storm arises in the ocean on the shore, the condition of the sick deteriorates sharply, the number of suicides and traffic accidents increases. The culprit is infrasound.

In the reports of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1935, Academician Shuleikin came up with the theory of the occurrence of infrasonic oscillations in the ocean. During storms and strong winds above the wavy surface of the sea, a flow stall occurs on the crests of sea waves. In the air, not only transverse vibrations occur, but also longitudinal ones. The strength of the emerging infrasound is proportional to the square of the waves. With a wind speed of 20 meters per second, the power of the "voice of the sea" can reach 3 watts from each meter of the wave front. A relatively small storm generates infrasound with a power of tens of kilowatts! The main radiation of infrasound is approximately in the range of 6 hertz. Experiments have shown very weak scattering of infrasound with distance. In principle, it can propagate without significant attenuation for hundreds and thousands of kilometers both in air and in water, and the speed of the water wave is several times higher than the speed of the air wave.

Recently, reports have appeared in the press about the experiments of Professor Gavro. New facts about the biological activity of infrasound were presented. Professor Gavro suggested that the cause of this phenomenon is the coincidence of the frequencies of infrasound and the alpha rhythm of the brain. Infrasounds of certain frequencies can cause a person to feel tired, melancholy, seasick, lead to loss of vision and even death:
“... Infrasound with a frequency of 7 hertz is fatal to a person ... you can stop the heart by choosing the phase of infrasound accordingly ...”

So, powerful infrasonic vibrations are generated in the sea with an average frequency of 6 hertz, and already a frequency of 7 hertz is deadly for humans. But suddenly there are conditions under which the frequency of the "voice of the sea" will be slightly different from the usual one, with all the ensuing consequences? A ship can be caught by an infrasonic wave in a completely calm area, and if the frequency of the incoming radiation is 7 hertz, the death of the entire crew occurs suddenly, and the most careful examination will not reveal the cause of death - because it comes from cardiac arrest. At frequencies other than 7 hertz, effects similar to insanity attacks are possible. Mechanical resonance with the ship's hull or masts is also possible, when the crew suddenly finds themselves, as it were, on a giant shaker. Not without reason on many ships with the missing crew, the masts turn out to be broken, although weather reports indicate the absence of strong winds in the area.

Dozens of ships have now been found with missing crew or dead on board. Perhaps this list should also include some submarines that disappeared under strange circumstances, which are even more susceptible to the action of an infrasonic wave, since infrasound travels even longer distances in water. Infrasound is ubiquitous. It spreads almost equally well in solid, liquid and gaseous media. It would seem that emptiness, vacuum, can become the only obstacle for it, so such a danger should not seem to threaten spaceships.

Unfortunately, it is not. Astronauts (and the ship) are subjected to low-frequency vibrations of significant amplitude both during takeoff and when the spacecraft returning to Earth enters the dense layers of the atmosphere. The dimensions of modern spacecraft are such that resonant oscillations at biologically dangerous frequencies can occur in them. This circumstance must be taken into account in their design and bench tests. Otherwise, silent ships may appear in space.

Currently, there are already stations for receiving infrasound that occurs during storms and underwater earthquakes. Even in the case of a tsunami with a speed jet aircraft(700-800 km / h), an infrasonic wave in water travels the same path 7 times faster.

Such stations could warn ships about the appearance of infrasound with a life-threatening frequency.
In any case, if such a phenomenon does occur in the ocean, it requires careful and urgent investigation.
