Baiyoke Tower II is the tallest building in Thailand (Bayyoke Sky Hotel). Description and photo of the tallest tower in Bangkok Baiyoke Sky

Modern Bangkok impresses with its architectural marvels. I propose to forget for a moment about artsy lines Royal Palace with its exotic landscape. Let us turn our eyes upward, to the heavens and look into the very high building in Bangkok. Center capital city housed three giant skyscrapers at once. Two of them ( Baiyoke Sky Tower and MahaNakhon) have already begun their immediate duties, lifting guests to heaven, to a height of more than 300 meters.

Below I will show the tallest building in Bangkok on the map and talk about the features of these giants.

The third miracle only laid the foundation in 2017. As the architects promise, by 2020 Rama IX Super Tower grow up to big skyscraper throughout Asia, reaching a record height of 615 meters. In fact, this building is the tallest building in Bangkok. Restaurant, observation decks, hotel, everything will be here.

The Pearl of Bangkok Baiyoke Sky Tower

The first skyscraper in the capital of Thailand opened its doors in 1997. Height Baiyoke Sky Tower is 304 meters, together with the spire 309 meters. The building contains 85 floors. The foundation piles go into the ground to the height of a 22-storey building, which is just over 65 meters. The current tallest building in Bangkok (the MahaNakhon skyscraper) exceeds Baiyoke by only 5 meters (its height, together with the spire, is 314 meters).

The main highlight of this giant is the highest in South-East Asia hotel, which is located between the 22nd and 74th floors. This is a luxury 4-star hotel, which is known as Baiyoke Sky Hotel. The hotel's suites feature huge wall-to-wall viewing windows, thanks to which Bangkok appears to its guests in all its glory. Particularly noteworthy are twilight (when the Sun sets and rises) and night landscapes. I highly recommend visiting the oldest tallest building in Bangkok, restaurant, viewpoints, boutiques and hotel rooms waiting for their guests.

MahaNakhon Asian Exclusive

The title of the largest skyscraper in Bangkok has passed to a unique masterpiece of construction and architecture MahaNakhon. The skyscraper opened its doors in autumn 2016. The building received 77 floors (excluding underground apartments), which rise 314 meters above the ground. There is no need to look for the tallest building in Bangkok on the map. The building is noticeable from anywhere in the metropolis.

The main highlight of the skyscraper lies in its unique facade. The surface of the walls has a special structure that imitates seats"pixels". For its extravagant appearance, the skyscraper received a number of very solid awards and was included in the first hundred of the most significant buildings of mankind. If you are looking for the tallest building in Bangkok, a restaurant with a delicious meal and a spectacular observation deck be sure to visit MahaNakhon.

Unlike Baiyoke Sky Tower, the new skyscraper combines both a hotel and Entertainment Center and housing complex. The building contains 159 luxury hotel rooms and 209 condominium apartments. There are shops, boutiques, restaurants and observation decks. The cost of housing in Baiyoke Sky Tower is from 1.7 million to 17 million dollars.

Baiyoke Sky Tower (or Baiyoke 2) is a hotel and the tallest building in Bangkok and all of Thailand. The height of the skyscraper together with the antenna is 328 meters. And the view from the lookout Baiyoke playgrounds Sky opens amazing!

Baiyoke Tower 2 is located in the heart of Bangkok. You can see it from almost everywhere and from its observation deck you can see almost the whole of Bangkok.

What can I say about the Baiyoke Sky Hotel in Bangkok?

Our room on the 55th floor of the Sky Zone cost 3100 baht (78 euros) per night.

Despite modern look skyscraper, the rooms are quite worn out by time for their value. Repair would be nice...

…but the rooms are quite spacious in size…

Huge floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows are also pleasing:

Well, the view of Bangkok outside the windows of the Baiyoke Sky Hotel is without comment at all. The neighboring skyscraper looked so low from the window of our room on the 55th floor:

To the left of the skyscraper is visible railroad station Ratchaparok branch of the Airport Link leading to international Airport Suvarnabhumi.

View of Bangkok at breakfast from the windows of the restaurant on the 76th floor:

Bangkok has an amazing observation deck from which the whole is visible. It is located on the roof of the tallest building in Bangkok - the hotel Baiyoke Sky.

The hotel consists of as many as 85 floors, the height of the building is 309 meters.

It turns out that Norwegian skydivers jumped from this hotel in 2002, thereby setting a world record for base jumping (jumping from fixed objects).

The hotel has several viewing platforms:

  • On the 77th floor there is a closed area with huge panoramic windows
  • On the 84th floor - open area, rotating in a circle (at this point, the height is 250 m.)

1.1. How to get to the observation deck (options)

To get to the observation deck you can use one of three methods:

  1. Rent a hotel room. Entrance to the observation deck is free of charge for all hotel guests. But keep in mind that the cost of rooms in Baiyoke starts from 2000 baht / night, rooms are located from the 22nd to the 74th floor. The higher the floor, the higher the cost (only 3 different zones - standart, sky, space). The reviews write that the cost is greatly overpriced, the rooms are old, an even bigger problem is the eternal crowds of tourists, there is always a queue for the elevator, so if you prefer quiet hotels, it’s better to stay somewhere else, and go to Baiyoke only to the observation deck. Strangely, the agoda prices are even a bit cheaper than the official website, so if you decide to stay there, check where the prices are better first. You can book at agoda here.
The current prices for hotel rooms can be viewed right here:
  2. have dinner at one of the restaurants at the Baiyoke Sky Hotel. The system is like this - you pay a fixed amount for dinner per person, the price includes a visit to the observation decks. There are plenty of restaurants for every taste, there is even a fruit buffet (just right for raw foodists), the cost is 350 baht per person (it turns out even more profitable than just buying a ticket to the observation deck). It is better to book tables in advance, because. there are many who want it, you can directly through hotel official website.
  3. Buy ticket separately to the observation deck.

We used the 3rd option - we bought tickets only to the observation deck (by the way, the ticket includes a free drink, but more on that later).

1.2. Visiting Information

Ticket price: from 10.00 to 18.00 - 300 baht, after 18.00 - 400 baht.

Opening hours of the observation deck: 10.00-22.30 (Mon-Fri), 9.30-22.30 (Sat-Sun)

1.3. How to get there

Getting there is easy, there are the following options:

  • by city bus - very close to the stop, routes 13, 14, 17, 38, 54, 72, 73, 74, 77, 140, 183, 204, 514, 536
  • on - stop Pratunam (I came to this pier in and)
  • on ground metro directly from the airport - Ratchaprarop station
  • by taxi or tuktuk (just say Baiyoke Sky)

In general, the tower is easy to see from almost anywhere in the city center:

It starts to get dark, the backlight (a round rotating platform) is lit on the Bayok Sky observation deck:

The ideal option is when you managed to get to the first observation deck (on the 77th floor) before dark in order to have time to look at day and night Bangkok. Night, of course, is much more beautiful, but daytime views are better in the photo, there is no flare. So come by 5:30 pm.

We did not have time to go in until 18.00, so we paid by 400 baht and climbed to the observation deck after sunset.

2. Photo tour of the building

2.1. Ground floor and cash desks

First floor of Baiyoke Sky:

There was no queue at the box office at all, most likely, many people buy tickets in advance through agencies. We bought tickets, we were sent to a special elevator for tourists (the elevator is different for hotel guests).

There was a small queue for the elevator. We got along with a group of Chinese, so while we were driving, we listened to ah-sighs (for some reason, the Chinese always listen to guides very emotionally and gasp in unison for almost every phrase, very funny :). The elevator only goes up to the 77th floor. But I just wanted to get there first, and then to the very top.

We went into the elevator, which looked completely ordinary. But as soon as we went, literally after a few floors it turned out that this elevator was not quite ordinary, but panoramic. So one of the walls of the elevator was completely glass, and suddenly we had a stunning view of the city. It was so unexpected that even a little scary at first.

2.2. Museum on the 77th floor

So, we arrived at the 77th floor. On the floor there is a museum with various exhibits, against which you can take interesting photos.

A small copy of the hotel itself:

Golden masks:

Museum - an exposition of antiques (reminded, but somehow everything is too shabby):

You can even climb into a tuk-tuk:

2.3. Observation deck on the 77th floor

There is also an observation deck on this floor. Floor-to-ceiling windows all around the floor are all glass so the view is amazing. Very scary and at the same time breathtaking.

View of Bangkok at night from the 77th floor:

It’s a pity, because of the lights of the night city, the photos are illuminated:

After we had seen enough of the views from the 77th floor, it was time to climb higher. How nice it is to walk without excursion groups. All the groups were long gone and we enjoyed the views as much as we wanted.

They asked how to get to the 84th floor (namely, there is the highest observation deck, located on a spinning platform). It turns out that the elevator can only take you to the 83rd floor (it’s hard to get lost - there is only one button with the 83rd floor in the elevator), and then you need to climb one floor on foot.

From here we go already on foot, the door to the clouds:

It's so cool that it looks like you're going up into space! And then there's the alien and Spiderman!

2.4. Observation deck on the 84th floor

Welcome to the rotating platform on the roof:

The upper platform is open, that is, there is no glass and no roof, but there are gratings, and also strong wind. It seemed to me that it is much less scary there than on the 77th floor, because you are standing next to the side, and somehow everything seems more reliable.

Let's go to the platform:

The view is awesome, of course! It is a pity that it is not possible to take normal photos, because the platform is moving all the time.

Highways like arteries pierce the city:

Having made a full circle on the upper platform, we went back. You can only leave from there on the 77th floor. We looked there again, and then began to look for where you can get free drinks. It turned out that on the same 77th floor. And for some reason, a very small number of people go to this bar, perhaps they don’t know, no one specifically talks about it, we ourselves asked.

2.5. Bar on the 77th floor

You can choose any drink from the menu, there are both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, teas, coffee, juices. I ordered a non-alcoholic pina colada, very tasty, by the way:

It was great to sit there on top with a cocktail. The view reminded me of Moscow at night from the 61st floor of Moscow City. Some nostalgia kicked in...

There was almost no one in the bar, except for us, just a couple of people and the attendants:

3. Results

That's how we got to this amazing place. I definitely recommend visiting, such a height, such views of the city at night - unforgettable impressions. Especially if you are afraid of heights, the spirit is simply breathtaking, the height is mesmerizing - although scary, you can’t take your eyes off.
