Ho Chi Minh trail
The Ho Chi Minh Trail was a complex system of forest and mountain trails, which during the Vietnam War connected North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Being at first a small path, it gradually grew into a whole network with a length of more than 20 thousand kilometers.
The functioning of the trail as a military artery began in 1959, with the beginning of the revolutionary struggle for the reunification of the South with the North. It took more than a month to get south from Hanoi. But in 1974, the trail turned into an improved infrastructure with underground hospitals, fuel tanks, weapons and uniforms depots, many sections were asphalted or paved. The military forces of the Viet Cong, who were constantly replenished along the Trail, captured Saigon in 1976, thereby ending a long-term bloody war.
