We share your impressions about the cities where you are going for May holidays, where it is better to stay and where it is tastier to eat) 0

Installed the English version of TripWolf. Poyuzal. Uncomfortable. I saw Paris. I looked at the iPad. Takes off often. You open it again - 3-4 transitions work, again the flight ... Well, maybe it’s like that for me. The variant of the native Russian is wonderful. Voice acting is an interesting idea. From own experience- when I was preparing to go to Japan, I found everything, even GPS in English!!! And there are a lot of such programs, because. Restaurants advertise through them. Studied 5 different pieces in detail. They did not buy me for one reason - the number useful information little about a specific place! Even a thin book did not replace. And the list of places of interest was everywhere ... I'm very sorry to the developer. People who bought! How is it in the Russian version with articles. How expanded? Compare at least with Wikipedia.

@alefut , this is what is read and shown in the Russian version using an example

VENICE. Cathedral of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari

Undoubtedly, one of the most famous cathedrals in Venice is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. It stands in Piazza San Polo.

Interesting history of the cathedral. It all started with the foundation in the XII century in Umbria of a religious movement under the teachings of Francis of Assisi, who preached a simple and poor life. A century later, the followers of this movement reached Venice. Doge Jacopo Tiepolo granted them a plot of land. Subsequently, the site was enlarged by draining the nearby Badoer pond and adding another site - a gift from Doge Raniero Zeno. The Franciscans begged for alms, and a church was built on it and monastery in honor of the Holy Virgin Mary of the Word, the architect of which was Nicolo Pisano.

The parishioners fell in love with this church, and very soon it became clear that it was small and could not accommodate everyone. In 1250, by decision of the pope, a new church was founded. But it turned out to be not enough. There were more and more Franciscans, and in 1443 the church we see today was finally founded. main altar consecrated in 1469, and the church itself - in 1492. The epigraph in the right transept of the church said that the church was dedicated to the Ascension of Our Lady.

In 1810, the Napoleonic administration took the church from the Franciscans and made it a parish. A century later, the former mission returned to the church, restoration was carried out. She became a basilica.

The basilica is 102 meters long and 32 meters wide. The cathedral has the shape of a Latin cross. The three naves are divided by twelve columns. The vault of the cathedral is Gothic.

The main entrance to the cathedral is from Frari Square. In addition to the main entrance, there are four more entrances to the basilica. Each door has its own name and is decorated with characteristic elements: the middle door - with sculptures of the Madonna, Francis and Anthony, the door to the chapel - with the figures of the apostle and Jesus Christ, the door of St. Mark - with a sculpture of God the Father, the door of St. Ambrose - with a statue of Francis.

In the cathedral you can see eight works by Flamanio Floriani, the famous Venetian artist, as well as paintings by Angelo Venturini, Titian and works by Girolamo Campagni and the Lombardo brothers.

The basilica's campanile is 70 meters high, making it the second tallest campanile in Venice (after Saint Mark's). The Campanile was built in 1396 by the architects Pietro Paolo Delle Masenier and Jacopo. By the way, the campaign has Observation deck with which opens beautiful view to the city.

The monastery at the cathedral since 1815 has been state archive, which contains about 700 million documents related to the history of Venice.

Next to the monastery you can see a square gallery - "The Monastery of the Holy Trinity". It was designed by the architect Andrea Palladio. The gallery houses sculptures of Saints Peter and Paul and the Holy Trinity. The center of the gallery is decorated with a well, the author of which is Giovanni Trognon. The author of the sculptures on the well is Francesco Penzo. By the way, this well did not dry up even in the dry year of 1718 and became a salvation for many Venetians.

@Arthur Malosiev, thanks for the more than detailed answer. The information is practically sufficient for the "average" tourist. Rarely in any popular reference book will be more detailed. Well, maybe they will explain who the Franciscans are. And that is unlikely. Quite worthy. Was in Venice. Completely satisfied. I dream of doing it again. There was no guide. Apparently, this program may well, no, not replace the guide, but help not to miss anything interesting. Well, the information is still in the “homework” before the trip is typed. In my family, “homework” is what I do. The example is quite enough for a “reasonable” story about the object. Plus, what a fable from memory from the Internet. Plus a little fantasy. And unfamiliar tourists, who for some reason always find themselves nearby anywhere in the world, and listen carefully when I tell my wife, will be very pleased.

Are you looking for where to download the audio guide for Android? Congratulations! The search was successful - the best option than TravelMe apps you won't find! Our audio guides around the world's cities are great travel companions. They don’t add extra weight to your luggage, help you orient yourself on the spot, and most importantly, they tell you about the sights in a damn interesting way! Let's get to know each other better?

We will dedicate this review to the audio guide for Android. If you are an iPhone owner, because In the "apple" everything is arranged a little differently :)

So, let's start with the main thing - why you should download the TravelMe audio guide:

  • Our collection includes audio tours of 7 popular cities of the world: Rome, Paris, Istanbul, Madrid, Tallinn, Venice and Jerusalem.
  • All our audio guides are fascinating stories in Russian prepared by professional guides, historians and culturologists.
  • In the TravelMe applications, you can save offline maps with points of interest and walking routes to your smartphone. This is extremely important in roaming conditions.
  • You decide what and when to watch. You can listen to the audio guide at any time of the day, repeating or pausing the story as much as you like.
  • And, FINALLY, THE MOST IMPORTANT: you get sightseeing tours as a gift, and all other routes cost only 1-2 dollars. Where else can you find guidebooks or excursions at this price?

Download the TravelMe audio guide

For Android, we have two types of applications:

  1. TravelMe audio guides- applications for different cities peace. You get a sightseeing tour in such an app as a gift, and you buy the rest for 1-2 dollars, depending on which route you want to go.
  2. TravelMe PRO audio guides- a very good buy! You buy the whole city at once at a price of 3-5 dollars and receive as a gift not only a sightseeing tour, but also one of the routes!

Let's talk more about how to download and use each of these options.

1. TravelMe audio guides

It all starts on Google Play. Type in the market search "Rome audio guide", "Paris audio guide", "Tallinn audio guide", etc. Or, by clicking on this link, browse the entire collection of TravelMe audio guides at once and choose the one you need. We will show you the algorithm of actions using the example of an audio guide in Rome.

It is best to download the application by connecting to wi-fi - and save on traffic and install faster.

Downloaded? To start playing audio, click the Play button in the top right corner. And ... enjoy the story :) Despite the fact that on the map you will find a route for a walk, the first sightseeing tour, as a rule, is not tied to any place. You can listen to it at home on the couch, on the plane on your way to Italy, or at the hotel at breakfast. It is designed to tell you about the city as a whole and show how interesting and high-quality excursions we have.

Everything so that you are not afraid to buy other routes :) Their price is 1-2 dollars - depending on the duration of the story - half an hour or an hour. For example, let's go to the route called "Castle of the Angel - Pantheon." This is a walk that starts from the most famous Roman castle, passes through the bridge of the angels, Piazza Navona and ends at the Pantheon. you can read detailed description excursions, and on the map to see how it passes through the city. Click "Buy" and after downloading the audio files you are ready to go!

Throughout this tour, we will tell you about the sights that you will meet on the way, and tell you at what point you need to turn left, right, go forward, etc. In addition, a map will help with navigation, on which pins with numbers corresponding to the tracks of the audio guide are marked.

Important comment: Perhaps you have ever heard about mobile audio guides that work on a GPS signal - you are approaching some object, and the story about it automatically turns on. TravelMe audio guides are designed differently. Our excursions are a connected story. We guide the user along the route, telling about history, culture, interesting facts. All this is inextricably linked.

When crushed into separate descriptions of objects, it becomes boring, like listening to an encyclopedia. Yes, and GPS in such applications often does not work correctly: for example, you are still outside a cathedral, and they are already starting to tell you about its interior decoration. Very uncomfortable.

But back to TravelMe audio guides. Is the principle of acquiring and passing routes clear? Then buy and download tours of the places you plan to visit. They are all really good! And after listening to them, you will learn dozens of curious stories, which you will then excitedly tell your friends after returning from a trip!

Let's move on to the next section - "Photo". This is a gallery with a lot of pictures from interesting facts. Nice addition to the audio story :)

Next comes the "Map" section. It marks all the audio guide routes in Rome, the sights that we will talk about, and interesting places that will be nearby. Not all, only the very best. Would you like to get a map, where there will be significantly more attractions? Use the Ever.Travel service - this is our project for more experienced travelers.

Attention! If you want this map to be available to you on a trip even without an Internet connection - carefully consider it, zoom in on different sections. So the map will “load” and be available even in offline mode. And the yellow man on it will show your location through the GPS signal. It is very convenient - you do not need to connect to the Internet while roaming, but at the same time, you can see where you are on the map.

Can I download the audio guide for free?

The TravelMe app itself can be downloaded for free. Inside you will have access to a sightseeing tour, descriptions of sights and a map of the city. Behind additional fee For 1-2 dollars per route, you can download the excursions you are interested in. Yes, it's paid. After all, a large team of professional guides, editors, photographers, designers and programmers is working on each audio guide. They do an excellent job, and we believe that their work should be paid.

Compared to other options for exploring the city, audio guides for smartphones are significantly more cost effective. Let's check the prices on the example of Rome:

  • Group tour of Rome - from €30
  • City Sightseeing Roma daily pass - €22
  • Guide to Rome from Lonely Planet - 600 rubles. (~€12)
  • Tour of Rome from TravelMe - $1 (~€0.6)
. We do not leave any letter unanswered!

IMPORTANT:

  • We recommend downloading excursions by connecting to wi-fi: audio files "weigh" quite a lot, and we don't want to "eat" all your mobile traffic;)
  • After the application is installed, be sure to open it and "look around" in different sections: study the routes, look at the map, read the descriptions of attractions. So our content will be loaded completely and will be available even in offline mode.
  • Continued use of the audio guide with GPS turned on will drain your phone's battery significantly faster. Don't forget to charge your device before going out into the city!

For the winter holiday season, I want to recommend one interesting thing. It's no secret that spending on excursions is a significant part of the cost in any tourist trip. Any long sightseeing tour anywhere from 25 euros and up per person. A survey on some island will cost 50-80 euros. My friends told me that they managed to spend more on excursions than on the rest of the vacation with all the water parks, cocktails and more. It took me at first up to 200-300 euros. Just think, 25 euros for one, 55 euros for another, but in total it turns out not so little. This is where the toad makes the brain turn on.

The first thing you can do is go out into the city and buy a tour from a local company. The guide will be in English, you will be surrounded by Poles, Swedes, British, Italians, but the price will be less. Once we ran into tourists from our hotel on the same ferry. Only they went on an excursion with our Solvex for 75 euros, and we were with a local company for 35. Sometimes it’s better to chip in to rent a car. This is especially beneficial in countries where public transport only goes to tourist season by mood.

The most important thing, in my opinion, is the achievement recent years in international and national tourismaudio guide. It allows those who are not very familiar with the language of the host country or want to get more information to get acquainted with the history of the city, country, museum exhibits in a convenient way.

There are two types of audio guide implementations: hardware and software. The first can be bought or rented from a travel agency (5 euros for one museum tour), buy (about 100 euros for 5 European capitals). The latter can be downloaded quite easily on AppStory or Googleplay. Links are below the pictures. I got my first audio guide about 2 years ago. It was an audio guide in the suburbs of St. Petersburg - Oranienbaum. The impression was very good.

Audio guide "Oranienbaum through the ages" download

It is very good that the necessary data can be downloaded selectively. A valuable feature that I have not noticed in other audio guides.

Interesting development by Studio-o! s.r.o. - "Electronic Tour Guide". The interactive GPS audio book "Prague Electronic Guide" allows you to enjoy a walk around Prague even as a couple. There is an interesting function - adjusting the story from the speed of movement. A big plus is a very long battery life and a huge amount of information. You can rent directly in Prague with delivery by courier or by contacting the rental office. A list of addresses will appear when you select a shipping method. If I'm in Prague, I'll definitely take it.

You can order this audio guide right here.

In Europe, and not only, there are a lot of paid audio guides for tablets and smartphones. There are also free alternatives. Nothing prevents you from installing one and driving it before the trip. Even if you did not have time to download all the audio guides, do not worry, in any city you will find free wi-fi even if you don't have it in your hotel. Keep in mind that the audio guide is quite large, so to avoid unnecessary costs, do not download the audio guide via mobile networks.

What offers are on the market? A series of audio guides from TravelMe.

The product line includes free audio guides, such as Madrid. Keep in mind that additional routes will be paid - 33 rubles per route. I note that the audio guide has a user-friendly interface and navigation.

I want to introduce you. It, like some others, combines a story about cities and museums. You can see Moscow, Amsterdam and a huge number of other cities.

The next audio guide is an audio guide from. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Odessa, Lvov, European capitals, US cities.

Audio guides in the form of thematic sound files can be downloaded on the site of the club of independent travelers - The most visited cities in the world by tourists are presented.

You can buy audio guides in Tallinn with a discount of up to 60% on the website. For example, with the TallinnCard (www.tallinncard.ee.), which is generally quite profitable to buy. It entitles you to discounts and Special offers in museums, shops, transport.

A good option is to use audio guides based on resources like wikimapia and wikipedia. The trick is that the information given is not static, not compiled in advance along the route, but is taken from free resources. The guide will tell you about shops, bus routes, restaurants, monuments and other interesting and useful things. Sample App - Toozla Audio Guide

Another representative -. Interesting audio guide, but maps are paid.

Even before the trip, I recommend that you look at your tablet, smartphone maps of the places where you are going. The fact is that the cards are cached and, in the absence of the Internet, you will have the opportunity to use them. I end with this. Good luck on your travels!
