Can children fly on an airplane unaccompanied. Free ride or discount? Accompanying service for a minor

Traveling by plane with children, even the smallest, in last years almost no one is surprised anymore. Young passengers fly to visit relatives, to study. It happens that parents do not have the opportunity to be present with them. Fortunately, this is not a reason to change the plans of either adults or children - air carriers allow this travel option. Their employees are ready to provide any assistance both on the ground - at the airport and in the air. On the one hand, this is a huge help to parents who may not waste time and money only on support. With another - independent travel is an unforgettable experience and a lot of impressions for children.

Age restrictions

There are two options for traveling a child alone by plane:

  • completely independent flight (a minor is equated to an adult passenger);
  • under the supervision of the airline's employees (both on board and at the airport).

The procedure for air transportation of passengers, incl. minors without parents, on the territory of the Russian Federation is regulated by the Federal Rules for Air Transportation No. 82 of 2007. The main condition for a flight accompanied by company employees is the age of the passenger, which, according to this document, should not be less than 2 years. Upon reaching the age of 12, the child can do without the supervision of staff. But in practice, each company decides on the basis of its own internal regulations the question of how old you can fly on an unaccompanied aircraft. In addition, in the case of international flights, the rules in force in other countries must also be taken into account.

Usually, the child accompaniment service is provided by the carrier for passengers who are at least 5 years old. Smaller children are in most cases not allowed to travel unaccompanied by adult passengers. The accompaniment of a child is usually required if he has not yet reached the age of 15. In this case, parents must order the appropriate service in advance and arrange Required documents. Older teenagers can fly alone, but escorts are usually available for them - until they are 16-17 years old. Aeroflot companies allow children to fly independently from the age of 12, british airways, from 14 years old - Delta, KLM, the presence of parents may be required only for check-in for a flight (when flying abroad).

Note! In the case of a flight with transfers, the question of how old you can fly on an airplane without the presence of parents is given Special attention. Until the age of 8, the child can use the escort of employees only on direct flights. Transfer when flying without parents is allowed only at an older age. Thus, children aged 5-7 years are allowed to make connecting flights only with their parents or other accompanying persons (not representatives of the air carrier). Children and teenagers who fly by plane on their own can transfer without the control of airline employees.

One way or another, it is necessary to clarify the conditions of each specific organization, which are always present on the official websites. Useful information can be gleaned from the reviews of passengers on the Internet. Allowing a child to fly alone, without an accompanying adult, is not the responsibility of carriers, any of them has the right to establish their own rules and restrictions. In particular, many low-cost airlines (WizzAir, Ryanair), with the exception of Pobeda, do not provide the service of accompanying children (neither at the airport nor on airplanes). If you plan to send a child on a journey alone, then you will have to choose another airline, or fly with him. Sometimes minors can fly without parents only if there are no transfers, which means that there is no need to organize supervision in connecting airport. Or it may be forbidden for children to fly on one night flights or abroad.

How is escort carried out?

The child's parents or other accompanying adults are responsible for the child's arrival at the airport and check-in for the flight. You will also need to issue an accompanying document with a representative of the carrier, which details all the details of the flight. Together with other papers, it will be transferred with the child at all stages. Only after the young passenger can be sent with the appropriate employee who will accompany him until boarding the plane: he will pass control hand luggage, passport control, escort you to the boarding gate, if necessary, take you to the toilet, etc. Then the child is received by a flight attendant who will look after him on the plane: bring water or warm up food (if it was cooked at home), monitor his well-being, simply pay attention and calm him down, for example, in case of turbulence. She is responsible for it until landing at the destination airport and handing over to the local ground representative of the airline. If a transfer is planned, he will look after the ward in the transfer zone until boarding connecting flight, where one of the flight attendants will take over.

Each carrier organizes the provision of services in its own way, in particular, in the Pobeda company, the children entrusted to it are the first to be taken to the landing and then parents are informed about the departure. And after landing, the escorted guys are escorted to the airport building on a priority basis. In the event of a transfer, when waiting at transit zone is more than 3 hours; Pobeda employees pre-order lunch for accompanied children.

If another flight is not foreseen, the accompanying employee will help the child go through document control, receive luggage and will be with him until meeting with the host. In case of problems with the meeting person, the employee will continue to look after the young passenger in the waiting room. In the event of unforeseen circumstances of any kind, the representatives of the carrier will coordinate their actions with the parents of the minor and coordinate them with the receiving party. If it is not possible to transfer the child to the meeting at the airport, he can be delivered to the agreed address or sent to the airport of departure. At all stages, a package of relevant documents is transmitted along with the child.

Service cost

The pricing policy of the airline is determined by its internal regulations, so each carrier may have its own cost. In addition, it usually depends on the travel time, the age of the accompanying passenger and the availability of transfers. On average, the price varies between 40-100 euros (for Pobeda - 3000 rubles).

Buying a ticket

So, the trip is planned, the airline is chosen, it is found out whether it is possible to arrange for the child to be accompanied by its employees. Now you need to purchase a ticket and complete the documents.

Important! To purchase an air ticket and order an escort service for a minor, it is better to contact the air carrier's office directly, a ticket sales point, or at least a travel agency. In other words, it is important that the sale is carried out by a qualified employee who can additionally advise parents on the specifics of the provision of the service, competently make a reservation with a request for escort. Further, with a positive response from the company, he will competently complete the purchase procedure or interrupt it if the service is denied.

In any case, you need to make sure that you can use the escort service for a particular flight. The fact is that on 1 flight the crew can provide care for a limited number of children. Therefore, it is better to buy a ticket in advance: it will be so more chances obtain consent to accompany the child. When ordering a ticket with an escort service, you will need to indicate the age of the young passenger and fill out a standard form (for children under the age of 13), which details the route and data of the party that meets (surname, name, patronymic, contact phone number , address).

What documents need to be prepared

Since a child traveling alone is still an extraordinary situation, additional paperwork will be required. They are designed to legitimize such movement of the passenger and record the main details of the escort, if required. Documents required in this situation include:

  1. an application from parents for the provision of accompanying persons by the carrier (usually there is a standard form posted on the company's website, it contains various data of the child, as well as information about the host: full name, passport details, contact phone numbers, addresses of all possible meeting, if not known, who will arrive at the airport);
  2. an accompanying document (it contains the data of all employees of the carrier who will be responsible for the child on the way, is drawn up directly at the airport before departure);
  3. the consent of both parents of the child to cross the border (in case of an independent flight abroad of the Russian Federation under the age of 18, it is drawn up and certified by a notary, contains information about the country to which he can fly and the duration of stay).

All data when filling out must be carefully checked against the documents. If inaccuracies are made, the accompaniment may be refused or the transfer process of the child will be interrupted. In addition to the above papers, you will need, as for regular flights, an air ticket, a passenger identification card (passport or birth certificate for flights within Russia) and a visa of the country of destination or transfer (if necessary).

Procedure at the airport when accompanied

Some necessary documents need to be processed with the airline staff, so it is better to arrive at the airport with a margin of time. For the same reason, the child cannot arrive alone; one of the parents or another adult authorized to accompany him must be with him. He is also required to carry a photo ID. After drawing up a document for escort and an application (if it was not prepared in advance), the child is transferred to the responsible representative of the carrier. At the same time, parents have the right to ask him to provide a document proving his identity and confirming his authority. After the child has been handed over to the responsible officer, the adult who accompanied him until then must remain at the airport until the aircraft takes off. The meeting party at the point of arrival will be able to pick up the minor from the representative of the carrier only upon presentation of their identity card, also with a photo.

Little traveler's luggage

If the child is to fly on his own, even if under the supervision of flight attendants, it is important to properly prepare things for hand luggage. Even if the flight is short, it is better to play it safe and anticipate the occurrence of various situations. This will make the journey more relaxed for both the young passenger and the aircraft staff. It is worth paying attention to the following items:

  • medicines for motion sickness, digestive disorders, painkillers, nose drops (the air in the cabin is usually dry), etc.;
  • wet wipes so you can wash your hands at any time and have a snack;
  • lollipops - for takeoff and landing (not all companies distribute them);
  • things for entertainment: a book, a tablet with cartoons or games, a favorite toy;
  • drinks - you can buy them after checking your hand luggage or stock up on an empty bottle that the flight attendant can fill with water;
  • food - from small things to snack on (sweets, nuts, cookies, washed fruits, etc.), and ending with a full meal that the flight attendant will warm up on the plane.

It is likely that the child will be fascinated and satisfied with being on board without parents, but at the time of turbulence or a sharp pressure drop, he may begin to worry or be scared. Then a successfully captured toy, favorite cookie or cartoon will play its role - they will allow the child to be distracted and calm down faster.

Additional Information. One of the main services for small air passengers is a special menu. But it is not provided in all cases, and children may have individual preferences in food, so a lunch taken from home can be very useful. Also, usually the child is allocated one of the safer and convenient places, not in a row emergency exit. If it is necessary to keep a young passenger under supervision, he is often placed in the front rows, in full view of the flight attendants. Some companies are developing targeted programs that make the child feel like a VIP client (Junior Jet).

Thus, flying without parents is a viable solution if adults cannot accompany the minor. In the case of teenagers, the situation is quite simple - they can fly alone, they only need written permission from the adults responsible for it when traveling abroad. For younger children, in most cases, you can use the escort from the carrier. You will need to issue additional documents, but in this case, the child will be supervised. Elaborate accompaniment procedures make this option travel safe and secure, and affordable. And the child gets an incomparable and exciting experience of independent travel.

To date, all and sundry use airlines, because it is fast, convenient and affordable! People travel by plane to other countries for work, travel, and so on. And, of course, the question of how old you can fly on an airplane without an escort will be considered quite relevant? After all, quite often parents need to send their child to rest or study in another country, and they themselves cannot accompany their child.

About the escort service

There is not a single airline in the world that has not established the process of transporting an unaccompanied child. So there is nothing to worry about! Each parent can safely send their child by plane to anywhere in the world, and they will certainly be delivered from point A to point B. Plus, the child will really be interested in flying on his own, he will have a lot of vivid impressions, and this trip will certainly be remembered him for life. But the child himself will be under the constant, close supervision of the stewardess, who will always show and tell everything, pour tea, soft drinks, feed and all that.

Basic rules for solo travel

As soon as parents make a booking for a flight, they should immediately indicate that an additional escort service for children will be required. It is necessary to indicate how old the child is, and when the flight time has come, the child is provided to the airline representative. Do not worry, because now the baby is definitely in safe hands! Thanks to the service employee, the child will pass all the necessary checks, after which it will be handed over with all the documents to the flight attendant, who will subsequently be responsible for the baby.

After the plane lands at the destination, the flight attendant transfers the child to the care of an employee of that airline. All necessary checks are carried out, and then the child is transferred from hand to hand to the person who will meet. The name of this person must be indicated on the accompanying sheet.

How old do you have to be to fly on an unaccompanied plane?

There are a huge number of airlines in the world, and each of them has its own personal rules, including the rules for accompanying a child. Yes, the rules are different, but in fact they are similar to each other. For example, almost all airlines allow a child who has reached the age of five to make an independent flight. Well, of course, it can hardly be called an independent flight, because the baby will always be under the supervision of a flight attendant, just without parents.

And if you fly unaccompanied at all, then this is allowed for persons who have reached the age of fifteen. But this point is not taken into account in all airlines. Somewhere it is allowed to fly independently from the age of twelve, from fourteen, and so on.

Also take into account the fact that children from five to eight years old are not allowed to transfer from plane to plane. From eight to eleven it is already possible to transfer, but under the strict guidance of the staff. And from the age of twelve, you can make transplants without any problems.

What documents will be needed for a child flying without parents:

  • ticket;
  • a notarial document in which both parents give their consent to the departure of the child;
  • document for the accompanying person (the airline employee fits into it);
  • visa (if needed);
  • an additional statement from the parents, which indicates the name, surname and other data about the child, the full name of the meeting party. Also in the statement are the phone numbers and contact details of both parties.

How to choose an airline

So you've decided to book a flight. Before that, it is necessary to approach with all responsibility the choice of an airline. That is, you need to find out if they have an escort service. It's just that there are such services that will not agree to be responsible for your child either on the ground or in the air. If the company does not provide such services, you will have to look for something else. Some companies have policies that prevent children from flying at night, or employees will not accompany a teenager on a transfer. In general, there are many nuances, so take the choice of an airline with all responsibility!

Some nuances

There are a number of rules that must be strictly observed if you, as a parent, decide to send your baby to another country by plane:

  • You should not buy a plane ticket over the Internet. It is better to contact a trusted travel agency or the cashier;
  • Purchase your ticket in advance. The fact is that employees can let a certain number of children on board the aircraft, which means that if you are late with booking a flight, you may simply be refused;
  • Take your baby to the airport and stay with him until you hand him over to a company employee. Or send your companion with the child;
  • It is better to arrive at the airport in advance, as it takes some time to fill out various papers. Well, I don't need to remind you about the identity card;
  • Arriving at the airport, draw up an application and permission for escort, and then the child is escorted to the counter and checked in;
  • Parents or an escort must be at the airport until the plane takes off;
  • In the accompanying documents, indicate the name and surname of the person who will meet your child at the airport in another country.

In modern life, traveling by plane has become quite easy. Flight is the most fast way get to the right point the globe. Accordingly, the question arises whether it is possible to send a child alone on an airplane, how to do this, what is needed, from what age can one fly alone. All points of interest will be discussed in this article.

Can a baby fly without parents, legal support

The flight of a child without parents in Russia is determined by two very important points:

  • the legislative framework informs that the procedure for the flight of minors, from what age you can fly on an airplane unaccompanied, is established in the decree of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation No. 82 of 06/28/2007;
  • the second point is the Aeroflot rules, which consider this particular issue. Federal Law No. 114 of August 15, 1996 governs all the regulations related to the exit and entry of the population.

Framework order of the Ministry of Transport

Flying with a small passenger

For September 2018, the following rules apply:

  1. The flight of an unaccompanied minor in Russia is carried out if:
  • between the ages of two and twelve, they are not disabled, and the carrier provides for the possibility of supervising small passengers;
  • solo flight if the minor is over twelve years old.
  1. Persons who can send a small passenger, with the exception of parents:
  • guardians;
  • trustees;
  • adoptive parents.
  1. The age category of the baby is relevant at the time of ticket purchase. In simple words, if a child turns thirteen in a few days, then at the time of buying a ticket, he will fall into the first category from 2-12.
  2. Children may be transported under the supervision of a representative of the carrier if:
  • their ages are from two to twelve;
  • If a minor from thirteen to sixteen, supervision is provided at the request of legal representatives.

Note! If a child flies outside Russian Federation, he must have with him a document identifying the identity and consent of legal representatives, necessarily approved by a notary, which indicates the terms, the name of the state where the minor is leaving.

Airlines and their conditions

The following rules generally apply for children traveling on an airplane:

  • transporting small children has its immediate advantages. For example, children under two years of age do not need to buy a ticket, but they are not provided with a separate seat, so the child will be in the arms of mom or dad all the time of the flight;
  • if the baby is not yet two years old, but it is large enough, you can purchase a separate seat for it. Depending on the carrier company, child ticket from two to twelve years, special discounts from fifty to seventy percent are provided;
  • some carriers provide small children special cradles. Such a device is installed in front of the parent's seat. It is best to clarify whether such a service is available in advance, before the flight;
  • in foreign airlines, there is a rule for providing parents with children under two years of age with front row seats so that the baby can be comfortably accommodated. These are the so-called places of increased comfort. In Russian companies, such a service is usually provided for additional fee. These can be places not only in the front row, but also near the emergency exit;
  • it is best to book a ticket in advance, as places for unaccompanied children are always very limited in number;
  • you should carefully study the conditions of the carrier company, whose services you plan to use. This way you can get all the information about necessary documentation, references and other;
  • accompanying a minor in flight is a service that not all companies provide. On this issue, it is better to clarify everything in advance;
  • ordering an escort service and buying a ticket takes place at the same time and necessarily requires the presence of a legal representative;
  • boarding a child must be accompanied by at least one of the parents. In this case, you will need to have an identity document with you;
  • in the document for escort, it is necessary to indicate the data of the person who will meet the minor at the landing site.

Time spent in flight

When going somewhere by plane, it is worth considering how long you will have to spend on board, whether there will be transfers and long waits. It is quite difficult to spend several hours in flight with a baby in your arms. If the flight takes place over long distances, then the opportunity to rest can only be during connections.

Meals offered in flight

If the baby has not been purchased its own place, then food will not be provided for it. In the event that the child is breastfed, then problems should not arise. If the baby is bottle fed, it is better to take care of the mixture in advance. Unfortunately, there will be nowhere to warm up the milk on board, but you can ask the stewardess hot water. Some firms provide baby food, but it is best to find out in advance from the company itself. When it is necessary to order and how much the service will cost, only the representative of the carrier can inform.

Important! Children who buy their own separate place are given the same menu as adults. You can discuss any option for a dietary menu only with the company in advance. Not all firms provide such services.

Accompanying service for a minor

How to send a child alone on a plane, what should be done for this and how much does the escort service cost. First of all, parents need to know that they are responsible for buying tickets, checking in and boarding a small passenger. It is necessary to conclude an escort agreement with the airline, which will describe all the moments of such an air flight. Only after the tickets are purchased, the papers are filled out, and the control is passed, the child goes under the care of a company representative.

During an air flight, the employee will monitor the child and be responsible for him, the stewardess will feed the ward, bring water, and take him to the toilet. In this case, the company is responsible for the safety of the life and health of a small passenger until the very moment of boarding and transferring the child to the care of an adult. There are firms that even inform parents about the past landing and landing of the aircraft. In case of unforeseen circumstances at the place of arrival, the representative continues to monitor the baby, coordinating his actions with his parents. Sometimes if a child cannot be met at the airport, he is delivered by exact address and pass it on to the meeting person.

Baby care

Service cost

The service of accompanying a child on an airplane is not too cheap. Of course, the cost also depends on the carrier company. On average, a flight of children without parents across Russia with an accompanying person will cost 3,500 rubles. If the shipment goes to another country, then the price is approximately $40.*

How to apply for a service

As well as the price, the registration procedure is set by the company itself. Basically, it goes like this:

  • it is necessary to provide a passport of the parent or legal representative, an identity document of the child, a document on adoption or guardianship, if any;
  • filling out an application for support. It indicates the final destination, all the necessary points for the transportation and transfer of the child to final destination, name and relationship of the person meeting, for example, grandmother, as well as her personal data;
  • when registering, it is necessary to present a ticket, documents, an application and a receipt for payment for the service.

At what age can you fly without parents, carrier restrictions

Also, before collecting the child on the road, you should find out about the age restrictions that this or that carrier sets.

  • the Russian carrier establishes an age category from five to sixteen years old for direct flights and with transfers;
  • Ural firms put the age from five to twelve in Russia and from six to twelve abroad on a direct flight.

In conclusion, I would like to note once again that when going on a flight with a child or letting him go alone, you need to thoroughly prepare. First of all, you need to familiarize yourself with the route, prices and services of carrier companies. If parents are flying with an infant, it is worth preparing for possible difficulties with seats and food. If the child is sent on a trip on his own, he must be prepared psychologically, especially if it is the first time to fly. Subject to all the rules, the baby will not be disappointed with the trip and will not receive negative impressions.

* Prices are for 2018.

By air are used everywhere, it is comfortable, fast and convenient. There are many destinations and flights, you can always choose the one you need for the whole family. Not only on a business trip, on a visit, on business, but for tourism purposes - this is the most modern look transport. And if there are minor children in the family, are they required to be sent on an unaccompanied flight? For example, for the summer to the grandmother, who was notified in advance and meets her grandchildren. Or at children's resort, summer language classes, just to friends in another city or country. After all, this option saves family money, the time of parents and the child will not have time to get bored in a fairly short period of time.

About the escort service

In the price list of all self-respecting airlines there is a similar service. On completely legal grounds, parents will be explained the rules by which an escorted flight is carried out. Stewardess in without fail will monitor the children, accompany them to the toilet room, feed and control the well-being of the young passenger. A teenager will be even more interested in this option, without parents, a boy and a girl will feel independent and adults. Moreover, adults can be calm, because the flight takes place in a closed room, the cabin of the aircraft, from where it is impossible to get lost, fall behind or get to know the newly entered passenger. You should first familiarize yourself with the existing conditions, which are regulated by the Federal Rules for Air Transportation No. 82 of 2007.

Basic rules for solo travel

The rules establish the procedure for the movement of minors without parents. When buying a ticket or making a reservation, be sure to indicate the requested service: accompanying a child. An airport employee issues an accompanying document of a standard form, which indicates the passport details and full name of the meeting person. When filling out the document, care should be taken to exclude problems after arriving at the destination. The worker picks up the child service center airport and goes through passport control with him, after checking he checks in his luggage, and waits for the landing time.

After the landing is announced, the airport employee hands the child over to the flight attendant, who is responsible for him during the flight. Practice shows that flight attendants try to determine the seat at the beginning of the cabin, which helps to keep the child under constant control. After landing, the reverse procedure takes place, the flight attendant passes the minor to the ground services officer, and he must already bring him to the receiving citizen. The accompanying documents and the passport of the meeting person are checked, this is a mandatory procedure that must be strictly followed.

How old do you have to be to fly on an unaccompanied plane?

According to FPA No. 82, a child under two years of age cannot fly without parents or a trusted person who has documentary evidence state standard. Children from 2 to 12 years of age may fly unaccompanied by their parents under the supervision of the carrier, unless otherwise specified in internal rules airlines. To do this, you will need to apply for such a service. After the age of 12, children can fly without adults, no special registration is required.

The law says so, but many airlines impose their own age limits that do not contradict government regulations. For example, in most cases, the restriction on the age of flight without adults from the age of five is common. Restrictions apply to connecting flights. A similar option is allowed from the age of five, the flight attendants of successive flights will be required to transfer the child. Agree that sending a preschooler to such extreme travel Not all parents take the risk. But as an option in insurmountable situations, this is possible.

What documents will be needed for a child flying without parents:

Air ticket, if required - visa;
permission of both parents to fly, certified by a notary;
a document for an accompanying employee of the carrier company;
an application with all the required data for the child and the meeting person.

How to choose an airline

The choice of an air carrier will have to be taken more scrupulously, to find out in advance about the possibility of a flight, the conditions of the service provided. In each case, there are limitations that must be taken into account. Travel time may be limited, night flights for children are prohibited, the possibility of transfers is excluded, only domestic flights and much more. You will have to learn the official application forms, fill them in the required order. When choosing a flight, it is not superfluous to ask citizens who have used this service, this can be done on the websites of carriers and in social networks.

Some nuances

There are a number of rules that you must strictly follow if you decide to send your children to another country by plane:

It is safer to buy a ticket in a verified travel agency or cashier in person.
You should prepare in advance for the flight by booking a ticket. Many companies have permission for a certain number of unaccompanied children on board, may not be enough seat.
The moment of transferring the baby to the hands of the accompanying person must take place with the presentation of his written authority.
Don't forget your passports and accompanying documents. If standard applications have to be filled out on the spot, time correctly.
After completing all the formalities, the attendant brings the young passenger to the check-in counter.
Adults must be at the airport without fail until the airliner takes off.
Check the correctness of filling in the data of the person who will meet at the destination airport.

carrier puts forward additional terms, not prescribed in its rules, or even refuses to provide services? File a complaint with the regulatory authorities and you will always be able to resolve your issue positively. Of course, such flights bring more excitement to adults than to children. For young travelers, the flight will be an unforgettable adventure that you will want to repeat more than once.

There are cases when you have to fly with an infant or a newborn due to forced circumstances. Yes, and many modern parents are of the opinion that a few hours in the air will not harm their crumbs.

If the pediatrician gave permission for air travel, you can safely hit the road. The airline will not object. It is believed that the younger the baby, the easier it is to endure such a load.

Previously, pediatricians allowed only those babies who were one year old to fly. Modern aircraft allow you to comfortably transfer air travel even to a monthly passenger.

Some airlines still impose conditions that little passenger must be older than 7 days.

In order for such a baby to be taken on board, parents will have to write a double receipt stating that they relieve the carrier of responsibility for the health of the baby.

Escort question

Previously, parents were wary of independent flights of children. Nowadays it has become the norm, demand has created supply. Airlines around the world allow independent travel for small passengers. But each air carrier sets its own rules.

In order not to be surprised at the last moment, it is worth studying the offers of various air carriers:

  1. Aeroflot, British Airways - from the age of 12.
  2. Delta, KLM-14.
  3. UIA - from 15 .

At what age can children fly on an airplane if they have to make a transplant? At the age of 5 to 8, children can fly only non-stop flights, from 8 to 11 (in some cases up to 12) transfers are allowed under the supervision of staff, from 12-15 years old you can transfer from board to board on your own.

All airlines require parents to notify when buying a ticket that a teenager is flying alone. You will also need to fill out a standard questionnaire indicating the route and meeting person if the passenger is under 13 years old.

According to Russian law, for a foreign flight of persons under 18 years of age, a certified written consent of the parents must be in hand. The document indicates the country of residence and terms. Without this, the young passenger will not be allowed on an international flight.

Free ride or discount?

Any adult has the right to put a baby under the age of two years on his knees without issuing a separate travel document. The baby is not provided with a separate chair, that is, the whole trip, he will be in his arms. At the same time, free luggage space not allowed.

On some international flights may charge up to 10% on top of an adult ticket, even if the child is not given their own seat.

Remember that for the second and subsequent small passengers you will have to pay at the carrier's rate. Various airlines provide discounts on children's tickets depending on the direction, seasonality, child's age and tariff plan– from 25 to 50%, plus 20 kg of luggage.

For transportation free baggage standard rules apply. For passengers with small children, the carrier is obliged to provide the most comfortable and safe places on board.

It is forbidden to place children in a row near the emergency exit.

What can I take for a child on a plane?

The more things you put in your bag, the easier your flight will be. First of all, you need to focus on the individual characteristics of the child. Here are some recommendations:

  • medicines that may be needed on the recommendation of a doctor (for indigestion, against motion sickness, analgesics, nasal drops);
  • more drink, since there is overdried air in the cabin (if you don’t have enough, you can safely ask the flight attendant);
  • favorite toys and book;
  • exciting gadgets with cartoons and games;
