Taxi at night to Kuala Lumpur airport. How to get from Kuala Lumpur Airport to the city center and back: train, bus, taxi, transfer. Multi-level parking at the KLIA terminal

There are two airports in Kuala Lumpur: the huge KLIA terminal, where most flights land and take off from, in principle, and probably all flights to Western countries, and a terminal given over to flights of low-cost airlines (such as AirAsia). Previously, the low-cost terminal was LCCT, but at the beginning of May 2014 it was closed, and all low-cost airlines moved to new terminal KLIA2, which, by the way, is now the largest terminal in the world, built specifically for low-cost carriers.

For a while, I think there will be confusion about which terminal to go to - because many already know and flew from LCCT, and those who have never been to Kuala Lumpur may stumble upon old articles that will send them to the old LCCT terminal . So, once again: regular airlines - KLIA and sometimes KLIA2, low-cost airlines - KLIA2, FireFly airline - terminal in Subang. Nobody needs to go to LCCT now!!!

How to get from Kuala Lumpur to KLIA airport

There are several ways to get to international airport KLIA from Kuala Lumpur.

Bus from KL to KLIA

There are many buses from KL to KLIA airport from various parts of the city.

From KL Central: between the main transport hub of Kuala Lumpur and KLIA airport, Express Coach runs from 5 am to 11 pm (respectively, from the airport to the city - from 5.30 am to 0.30 am), buses run every half hour. Travel time is about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Cost of the trip: 10 ringit ($3). You can buy a bus ticket online, or you can find Airport Coach Counter A on the ground floor (Ground floor) between the Aerobus counter and the police station on KL Central.

In addition, airline passengers Malaysia Airlines, Royal Brunei, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways can check-in and drop off luggage directly at KL Central, which is convenient if there is a lot of luggage, and there are usually fewer queues at KL Central.

Registration is available only for those who travel to the airport by train, not by bus or taxi. To register, you must be at KL Central no later than 2 hours before the departure of the aircraft. KL Central is huge, if you get lost ask where the KLIA Ekspres Departure Hall is located.

Taxi from KL to KLIA

Taxis can easily be hailed on your own or booked at the hotel. Drive about an hour. Cost of the trip: from 60 ringit ($18) and more - depending on the starting point.

If you decide to take a taxi, then catch red, red-white, red-white-blue cars. Blue taxis will cost almost twice as much.

The terminal, from where low-cost airlines fly, can be reached again by almost any mode of transport.

Bus from KL to KLIA2

From KL Central: Two bus companies operate from this station: Skybus and Airport Coach. Buses run around the clock, however, if during the day they run every half an hour, then at night there are noticeably fewer buses. Travel time is about 1 hour.

Buses leave from the same point of KL Central: umm ... “basement” or minus the first floor. The easiest way is to ask someone at KL Central where you can find “bus to KLIA2” - they will wave your hand towards the escalator, and going down it you will immediately see the buses.

Cost of the trip: 10 ringit ($3).

From Puduraya: if you are staying in Chinatown, then it is easier to leave from here. About the bus Star company I already wrote Shuttle above in the instructions for the KLIA airport, so you can read about the stop, schedule and buying tickets.

How to get from Kuala Lumpur to Subang Airport

To get to the terminal in Subang, which is also called the Subang SkyPark terminal or Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (this is its full name), from where the wonderful FireFly Airlines fly, the easiest way is to take a bus. If you go by train, then it will only take you to the nearest railway stations, where you still have to change to a taxi or bus.

Bus from KL to Subang

From KL Central: Rapid KL BUS no. U81. Runs every 30 minutes from 6 am to midnight. Ride something between half an hour and an hour.

Cost of the trip: 2 ringit (about 60 cents).

With Pekeliling bus terminal: KL bus city airport. It also stops at Kelana Jaya LRT Station (besides this, there are also stops at points of no interest to most visitors: Plaza Damas and eCurve Mutiara Damansara). It runs from 6 am to 10.30 pm every half an hour or an hour, depending on the time of day.

Cost of the trip: 3 ringit ($1).

Taxi from KL to Subang

Theoretically, most tourist areas Kuala Lumpur can be taken to Subang SkyPark Airport by taxi for 25 ringit (about $8). It is worth discussing the cost of the trip with the driver in advance. Travel time is half an hour if there are no traffic jams.

How to get from Subang airport to KLIA and KLIA2 and vice versa

There is no public transport between these airports, so a quick and convenient way is a taxi. However, the cost of the trip is likely to be over $20 and take approximately 50 minutes.

The budget way is to first take a bus to KL Central, where you can take another bus - to the KLIA or KLIA2 terminals.

Good road!

There are three airports in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. Two of them, KLIA and KLIA 2, are located 55 km south of the city and can (to a certain extent) be considered two terminals of the same airport. Not big airport Subang is located 23 km west of Kuala Lumpur and is served by only a few airlines.

1 | Kuala Lumpur International Airports KLIA and KLIA 2:

KLIA is an abbreviation for Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and pronounced "CLIA". This is the largest airport in Malaysia and it is where most international flights and airlines arrive.

KLIA 2 - formerly called LCCT (Low-Cost Carrier Terminal). This airport for budget(low-cost) airlines: AirAsia, TigerAir, Jetstar Asia, Cebu Pacific Air(Malindo Air flies to KLIA since March 2016). In 2016, there were discussions at the level of the Malaysian government about renaming KLIA 2 airport back to LCCT, but it was decided to leave everything as it is.

KLIA and KLIA 2, although they are nearby, do not have a direct connection. For travelers, these are two separate airports. If you arrived at KLIA 2 and you have a transfer to a plane that departs from KLIA, then you need to go through passport control, pick up your luggage and move from KLIA 2 airport to KLIA airport (how to do this, read the article How to get from KLIA to KLIA 2). At the same time, only the road between airports takes about 12 minutes (and you also need to find the right transport). Therefore, many believe that KLIA and KLIA 2 are two different airports, and not just terminals of the same Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

1.2 | How not to confuse KLIA 2 and KLIA:

It is worth studying the plane ticket very carefully, as many travelers unknowingly (and carelessly) arrive at the wrong airport or plan transfers without a margin of time to move from one airport to another, which threatens to miss the plane. note that KLIA and KLIA 2 have the same code - KUL, so it is impossible to simply guess which airport you are flying to by the airport code.

AirAsia KLIA 2 ticket

Airlines that fly to KLIA 2 usually have the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) or KLIA2 terminal line added to their tickets. All AirAsia, TigerAir, Jetstar Asia, Cebu Pacific Air flights fly to KLIA 2.

Tickets for airlines flying to KLIA simply list Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

If you arrive at night or need to quickly and comfortably get to the city, you can take a taxi. Uber operates in Kuala Lumpur. You can also take an official taxi - Airport Limo taxi. The cost of the trip is fixed, the order must be made at the counters, paid there.

Road to the city

The road is very picturesque and colorful - you go, stare around, take a break from the flight. Palm trees are growing everywhere and building cottage settlements. Although sometimes there are huts, apparently from the time when Malaysia was not such a developed country.

If you travel frequently South-East Asia, fate will sooner or later throw you into its airports. Kuala Lumpur - one of them - is the most important air harbor of the entire region. It has international status, and in this article we will dedicate to it Special attention. The second airport, bearing the name of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, is often simply called "old". It accepts external and domestic flights. But the main air harbor of Malaysia is not one, but three airports located at a distance of several kilometers from each other. True, one of them has hardly been used since 2014. And since acquaintance with Kuala Lumpur for Russian travelers starts with its airports, we will tell you more about them.

History of KLIA

When the hub named after Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah could not cope with the growing passenger traffic, the authorities thought about building a new one in the Malaysian capital air harbor. Its construction was treated creatively. Environmental friendliness was put at the forefront, and so new airports were created. Kuala Lumpur has two completely different hubs. New airport was specifically designed. The slogan of the builders was: "The hub is in the forest, the forest is in the terminal." Indeed, a weary traveler, having descended from the enchanting world jungles of Malaysia. The Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, one of the promoters of the idea of metabolists, developed the project. The construction took several years. The international airport, which received the abbreviation KLIA, received its first flight in 1998. It immediately overshadowed the old hub. Now all flights arriving from abroad land at KLIA. Very quickly, Kuala Lumpur Airport came to the forefront in Southeast Asia. On this moment in terms of passenger traffic, it ranks thirteenth in the world, and in terms of cargo reception, it ranks eighteenth.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport

This greatest harbor in Southeast Asia has three terminals. Two of them, located in the neighborhood, "Main" and "Sattelite", connect automated system transportation of passengers. But the third terminal, for receiving low-cost air carriers, is located three kilometers from the first two. Therefore, it is safe to characterize KLIA hubs as airports. Kuala Lumpur now accepts cheap airlines. Reviews of tourists warn: it will take you about half an hour to get to the low-cost terminal. Therefore, you should take this circumstance into account in order to catch your flight. You need to find out in advance where your plane is arriving or starting from. But if you are traveling with AirAsia, TigerAways or CebuPacific, you will definitely need to get to LCCT - this is the abbreviation for the low-cost terminal. But if you need "Main" and "Satellite", then there will be no problems with achieving the goal. Both terminals are in close proximity to each other. In addition, they are connected by a free train and shuttle bus - at the choice of passengers.

Kuala Lumpur airport scoreboard

The list of flights that this air harbor accepts will take more than one page. But there are no direct routes from Moscow and other Russian cities to Kuala Lumpur. Will have to fly with transfers. Reviews mention that many tourists arrive on board Qatar Airways. You can still fly through Kazakhstan (Air Astana). The main air harbor of Malaysia receives flights from all countries of Southeast Asia. If you are interested in budget transportation, then the most profitable is to use the services of the low-cost airline "AirAsia". Also, tourists use the Kuala Lumpur airport to travel to the beaches of Thailand, in particular to the island of Phuket (on board the Thai Airways) or to Singapore. The air harbor of Malaysia is also connected with the countries of the Middle East region. You can easily get from here to the UAE, Qatar. Liners arriving from Auckland, Melbourne, Adelaide and Istanbul also land here.

Services at KLIA Main Terminal

Passengers praise all new airports. Kuala Lumpur has benefited from their construction - they are very beautiful and functional. In the Main Terminal you will find duty free shops, ATMs, cafes and eateries. Naturally, there are also left-luggage offices and other services. What is interesting is that the airport management provides free Wi-Fi for passengers. You can also recharge here. Cell phones and other gadgets - for this there are special racks with great choice connectors. Take luggage upon arrival, go through passport and customs control, exchange money - all this can be done in the main terminal. Malaysian rules require that a visitor be fingerprinted with two index fingers. At the sign of the border guard, you must attach them to the scanner. There is also a lounge area in the Main Terminal - for a fee.

satellite terminal

If you are flying in from overseas to the new Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which has a fairly simple layout, you will most likely be taken to the Satellite Lounge. It was in it that the concept of "an air harbor in the forest" was embodied. The tourist information desk in the middle of the terminal and a few cafes, restaurants and toilets on the sides - that's all you can find here. The rest is the lush greenery of the tropics. Don't ignore tourist information, advise reviews. At the counter you can get free map cities and even a guide to English language. And if you have between connecting flights for at least eight hours, you can sign up for a sightseeing tour of the city. To set foot on the land of Malaysia, you need to go through passport control at the Main Terminal. Getting to this building is very easy. You just need to follow the Aerotrain signs. This is a drone train. Reviews advise you to sit in the first carriage to feel the adrenaline rush in the first minutes of your stay in Malaysia. Many tourists spend their time between flights like this - riding back and forth, because no one charges money for travel.

How to get to the city

We will consider all options. The first - the most expensive and not the fact that the fastest - a taxi. Kuala Lumpur Airport is located fifty kilometers from the city center. Naturally, count on budget travel do not have to. Reviews of tourists discourage using the services of local private traders. They advise you to contact the Limo taxi call desk. There are several in the main terminal. The most convenient location of one of them is the third floor, baggage claim or exit from the international arrivals hall. You need to tell the employee your destination and ask for "budget car", because the fare also depends on the class of the car. Next, you pay for the fare, and you are given a receipt, which you hand over to the driver of the indicated taxi. The cost of such a trip ranges from seventy to one hundred ringgit.

How to get to the train station

The peculiarity of the capital of Malaysia is that its railroad station located almost in the center of the city. And this circumstance should be taken into account even by those tourists who are not going to leave by train to the province. There are two types of trains from Kuala Lumpur Airport to the city center. The fare in them is the same - thirty-five ringgit. The train "Klia-Express" goes to main station Without stops. He arrives at his destination in twenty-eight minutes. These trains run more frequently: every quarter of an hour from five in the morning until half past one at night. "Klia-Transit" differs from "Express" in that it makes three stops along the way: at Salak Tinji, Putrajaya and at Bandar Tasik Selatan. These trains follow at intervals of half an hour and reach the Kuala Lumpur station in thirty-five minutes. significant difference Not with Express. Trains depart from the first floor of the airport. The ticket is bought at the counter before boarding the train.

To Kuala Lumpur by bus

This is perhaps the most inexpensive and most acceptable way, especially for those passengers who landed at the low-cost terminal (KLIA2). They do not need to get to the main building of the airport. Unless out of interest: the KLIA-Transit train runs between the terminals (it costs two ringgits, the travel time is five minutes). There are several bus companies that transport passengers from the airport to the capital of Malaysia and even to other cities in the country. The most convenient operator, judging by the reviews, is Airport Coatch. The ticket costs ten ringgit (18 - in both directions). Buses of this company depart at intervals of half an hour during the day. There is also a night flight - at 3:00. This operator provides a service called "Kuala Lumpur Hotel - Airport" for twenty-five ringgit. That is, the bus picks you up right from the gate of the hotel you specified (if one is located within the city). Tourists leave positive feedback about the Star Shuttle carrier. The buses of this company run around the clock and also pass by Chinatown.

Terminal KLIA2

It opened in 2014 and completely replaced the old LCCT, which is now in a state of liquidation. KLIA2 is famous for being the world's largest terminal for low-cost airlines. Previously, it was not easy to get to the main building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport from LCCT. Now the journey by train will take no more than five minutes. There is an entire bus station on the first floor of this terminal. From here it is easy to go not only to Kuala Lumpur, but also to other cities: Johor Bahru, Malacca, etc.

Airport them. Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah

Previously, until the end of the last century, it was the main air harbor of Malaysia. But even now it has the status of an international airport. On runway liners from Almaty, Tashkent, Delhi, Dubai, Guangzhou, Canberra, Melbourne and other cities of the world land regularly. Malaysia's old air harbor is quite convenient, reviews say. It has the entire standard set of services required for a hub with international status. One of the advantages of the air harbor is its proximity to Kuala Lumpur. It is located in the suburbs of Subang. So those who arrive at the hub with the abbreviation SZB (Kuala Lumpur) do not have to think about how to get from the airport to their destination.

From the old hub to the new one

Another thing is if you consider Kuala Lumpur as a transit point, and you arrive at the hub named after Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, and depart from KLIA. How to get to Kuala Lumpur Airport from the old air harbor? To do this, go to complex A and take bus number 9, get off at the Pasar Seni stop, change route to 2309 and get to the main railway station. And there already trains "KLIA-Express" or "Transit" will take you to the main international airport. Very confusing, and during peak hours even longer. Therefore, reviews recommend taking a taxi at least to the station.

Acquaintance with Malaysia, in most cases, begins with the country's main airport - Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Distance from the airport to the city about 50 km, walking is clearly not a close way)

The airport in Kuala Lumpur consists of two terminals: KLIA and KLIA2. They are located two kilometers apart. All low-cost airlines are served in the new KLIA2 terminal. Previously, low-cost airlines flew to the LCCT terminal ( low cost carrier terminal), which served low-cost airlines. Since 2014, the terminal is no longer engaged in passenger transportation. Asia's most famous low-cost airline, AirAsia and its subsidiaries, as well as other low-cost carriers such as Cebu Pacific, Jetstar Asia, Lion Air and TigerAir/Scoot, fly to KLIA2. Today, KLIA2 is the world's largest low-cost terminal and a major hub.

In this article we will talk how to get from the airport to Kuala Lumpur and back. Difficulties do not really arise here, there is a slight difference in travel time.

How to get from the airport to Kuala Lumpur and back

  1. KLIA Express is the most fast way. 25-30 minutes and you are already in the city at the KL Central station.
  2. KL Transit is a transit train. It also takes 30 minutes.
  3. The bus is the most cheap way. Without traffic jams, it reaches the city in 45-50 minutes.
  4. Taxi.

KLIA Express and KL Transit from the airport to Kuala Lumpur

KLIA Express and KLIA Transit are trains connecting the airport to the city center, KL Central station. The only difference is that KLIA Express collects passengers from two terminals, and then travels to the center without stopping. KLIA Transit makes 3 stops on the way from the airport to the center: Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya & Cyberjaya and Bandar Tasik Selatan.

Ticket price KLIA -> KL Central in both trains is the same - 55 ringgit one way or 100 ringgit for a return ticket. The whole world wants to go online as much as possible and give up ticket offices, so you can get a 10% discount by buying tickets on the KLIA Express website, through mobile app or information kiosk (self-service kiosk).

On the KLIA Ekspress website, I advise you to look into the section with Promotions = > KLIA Ekspress Deals. So, for example, when buying tickets online for KLIA Express in one or two directions, you can get 2 promo code on Grab taxis with a face value of 10 ringgit each.

KLIA Express and KLIA Transit timetable coincides: the first train from KL Cental leaves at 05:00, and the last one from the airport at 01:00.

Airport bus to Kuala Lumpur

To find the bus station, follow the signs for KLIA Bus Station. There are enough of them at the airport and it’s hard not to notice them. Before going outside to the stop itself, you will need to purchase a ticket at the box office. By the way, on the AirAsia website you can also buy a bus ticket along with a plane ticket.

From airport Kuala Lumpur KLIA you can get not only to different parts of the capital and KL Central (the main hub and a huge bus station), but also to Genting Highlands, Petaling Jaya, Klang, Ipoh, Sitiavan, Teluk Intan, Malacca and Johor Bahru.

If you have enough time in Kuala Lumpur, I advise you to go to Genting Highlands - this is a huge entertainment center. I talked a little about him in an article about Cameron Highlands - tea plantations in Malaysia.

For the first acquaintance with Malaysia, everyone goes to the city center, to the KL Central station. The main buses depart from it to different parts of the city. We have stayed twice in the Bukit Bintang area, from the KL Sentral station you can walk to almost all the hotels in the area.

If with bus schedule nothing has changed, the first bus from the airport to Kuala Lumpur leaves at 6:15 am, and the last one at 00:15. They depart every 20 minutes.

Price- 10 or 12 ringgit.

Taxi from airport to Kuala Lumpur

With a taxi, there are 3 options: you can pre-order either Grab Taxi or Uber (a small bonus from me on the first trip), or already on the spot to take the car. The fare from the airport is fixed. We drove from Bukit Bintang to KLIA airport for 72.80 ringgit (~$17). Additionally, we paid for all paid bans along the way. For interest, they asked how much a regular taxi from KL Central to the airport would cost and the amount was a little more expensive - about 100 ringgit. Perhaps this price includes paid autobahns. I advise you to clarify this information before ordering a taxi. It takes about an hour (without traffic jams) from Bukit Bintang to the airport.

You can draw a small conclusion on transport from the airport to Kuala Lumpur:

  • From 01:00 to 05:00, the city can only be reached by taxi.
  • A taxi is already more profitable for two, what can we say about a family of 3 or 4 people. The time is the same as the bus, and the price is slightly cheaper than KLIA Express and KLIA Transit (for two).
  • Arriving early in the morning (before 08:00-09:00) or late in the evening (after 21:00), you can safely choose the option of traveling by bus. At this time, there will be no traffic jams and the journey will take 15 minutes longer than by KLIA Express. And there is no need to rush to the hotel at this time).

Have a good trip to the capital of Malaysia!
