The high-speed train departs from KLIA 2, follows through KLIA and arrives in the center of Kuala Lumpur on KL Sentral. KL Sentral is a major transport hub of the city, the central railway station where trains, monorail, metro, buses arrive.

There are two types of high-speed train from the airport:

  • KLIA Express - comes with one stop at KLIA
  • KLIA Transit - makes stops along the way: KLIA, Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya&Cyberjaya and Bandar Tasik Selatan

KLIA Express trains run from KLIA 2 from 4:55 am to 0:55 am, in the opposite direction from KL Sentral from 5:00 am to 0:40 am every 15-20 minutes. Travel time 33 minutes.

KLIA Transit trains run from KLIA 2 from 5:48 am to 0:59 am, in the opposite direction from KL Sentral from 4:33 am to 0:03 am every 20-30 minutes. Travel time 39 minutes.

The fare from the airport to KL Sentral is 55 MYR for adults and 25 MYR for children aged 2-12. Price the same what for the express train, what for transit. Tickets can be bought at the box office or in advance on the official website.

By the way, if you want to save money and have extra time, you can get from KLIA to Salak Tinggi station for 4.9 MYR, get out, buy new ticket and from Salak Tinggi get to KL Sentral for 18.30 MYR total 23.2 MYR.

During the transit between the islands and Perhentiana, we stopped near the Salak Tinggi station, left the suitcase for storage at the hotel, and then we stopped at the hotel, picked up the suitcase and went to my friend in the center of Kuala Lumpur and were a little surprised that in some cases, traveling by high-speed train costs almost twice as much 🙂

Travel time by bus is very dependent on traffic jams, lay at least an hour on the road!

Bus to and from Kuala Lumpur Airport
Bus ticket offices at KLIA 2 airport are located on the lowest floor - just follow the signs "Taxi, Bus"

Taxi / transfer

Since the KLIA airport is quite far from the city center, a taxi from the airport to Kuala Lumpur will cost no less than 65 MYR, and at night from 12 to 6 am also for 50% more expensive!

We prefer to take a pre-paid taxi, or as it is often called Coupon Taxi in Malaysia: at the box office we pay the fare until right place, we get a receipt, which we give to the taxi driver. By the way, taxis can be paid by card! Pre-paid taxi from KLIA 2 airport to the city center (to the hotel near the Petronas towers) cost us 85 MYR, back to the airport from the Thai consulate - 90 MYR. toll road paid by the driver.

We pay for taxis at the box office. At cash desk number 6 you can pay by card, at the next cash desk number 5 only cash

You can also use the Grab or Uber apps to order a taxi. On our route (to the Petronas towers) Grab showed the cost of 65 MYR + highway payment. But due to poor internet at the airport, it was not possible to call Grab.

You can pre-order a transfer on the website kiwitaxi.ru (website in Russian), pay part of it with a card, and upon arrival you will be met with a sign, escorted to the car and taken to the hotel 🙂

Which of the ways to choose how to get from Kula Lumpur Airport to the city center is up to you, depending on your goals. If you need to get there quickly, then it is most convenient to take a high-speed train, get to KL Sentral, and then take a taxi to the hotel. If you want to save money and have time, you can easily get there by bus. If you have luggage and families with children, I recommend using a taxi or transfer.

It turned out that the information on many sites is outdated, and this threatens with unnecessary wasted nerves and time, so we will describe here our experience and current position cases at the beginning of March 2016.

In total, there are three airports in Kuala Lumpur: now they are KLIA and KLIA 2, that is, Kuala Lumpur International Airport the first and second, as well as Subang. The fact is that a couple of years ago, the flights of low-cost airlines were accepted by the old LCCT, but now this function is performed by KLIA 2, the world's largest terminal for low-cost airlines, built specifically for them. And KLIA accepts flights from Western airlines, from the Middle East, and so on.

Kuala Lumpur is one of the largest transport hubs South-East Asia. The most convenient way to get here is by plane: the international airport receives flights literally from all over the world. From neighboring countries, as well as from other cities in Malaysia, the capital can be reached by train or regular bus.

The duration of the flight and the cost of tickets depend on the carrier company and the number of transfers along the way. There are no direct flights from Moscow, so get ready to spend from 40 minutes to several hours at the airports of Vienna, Frankfurt, Astana, Hong Kong or other cities where you plan to connect.

Flights from Moscow to Kuala Lumpur are operated by many airlines: Emirates (one of the most inexpensive options with a transfer in Dubai), Qatar Airways, Thai Airways, Air Astana, KLM (via Amsterdam), Air France (via Paris), Lufthansa (via Frankfurt), etc.

Departures are carried out from Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo. The most affordable tickets to Kuala Lumpur are offered by Qatar Airways or Etihad (from 305 USD one way), the fastest flights are from Aeroflot (13 hours 55 minutes with a change in Bangkok).

How to get from the airport to the city center

The easiest and most convenient way to get anywhere in the city is, of course, a taxi. To use its services, you need to purchase a ticket at any of the three counters: at the exit of international hall arrivals, in the domestic arrivals hall or in the baggage claim area. When buying, do not forget to request a budget taxi, otherwise you may be served a limousine.

Unofficial taxis can be found outside the airport or in the parking lot, but be careful: the final price should be negotiated in advance. It is even better to write it down on paper and show it to the driver in order to avoid misunderstandings and unpleasant conflicts.

Hello friends. Today I will tell you how to get from the airport to Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia has many convenient modern international airports. Choosing which one is better to use is based on your route. We chose the capital of the state - the city, KLIA airport as the entry point to the country. Airport-giant, today - the most big airport world, capable of receiving 24 million passengers at a time. It is located 60 km from the capital and is arranged a little differently than the airports we know.

First of all, remember that KLIA Airport has two terminals: the main KLIA terminal and KLIA 2 terminal, which serves budget airlines. These are the so-called low cost companies.

I'll tell you how to get to Kuala Lumpur from both terminals. There are differences.

Air communication is well developed in Malaysia, and getting to different parts of the country by plane is sometimes more convenient and cheaper than by train or bus. We enjoyed domestic flights. This is convenient when you want to stay in one place for a short time, for example, to see the capital of the country, and then wave to some island.

Sometimes it is easier and cheaper to buy a ticket from Russia to Kuala Lumpur, fly to the first (international terminal) and immediately, without leaving the city, go to the KLIA 2 terminal.

And already from it go to the island or to neighboring state Singapore. It takes longer to get to Singapore through Kuala Lumpur, but the savings in money are about 100,000 rubles, i.e. - the whole trip. the cost of this combination.

So, I'll tell you how to get from one terminal to another, i.e. make a transfer.

Trains run between the terminals: KLIA Express and KLIA Transit. You can use any. The fare is 2 ringgit. Travel time 3 minutes. Trains run every 20 minutes. During peak hours every 15 minutes. The train ticket is sold on the spot at the box office.

We took a ride on such a train when we got from KLIA 2 to KLIA. Indeed, convenient. Airports have clear signs, follow them and do not get lost.

Airport Aerotrain KLIA

There is one feature at KLIA airport that we encountered for the first time. This confused us a little.

Usually, after getting off the plane, we go to passport control, then we get the luggage and after that we go to the hotel. At the KLIA airport, everything turned out to be different.

The point is that basically terminal KLIA three buildings:

  • main terminal building (Main Terminal Building)
  • auxiliary building (Satellite Building)
  • and Contact Pier. Main Terminal Building, otherwise it is also called Terminal M

We flew to the Satellite Building, which houses gate C. We flew to this gate C. We left and, as expected, were going to go to passport control. But it was not there...

Attention! KLIA has a different order:

  1. If you arrived at the Satellite Building terminal, then first you need to take the Aerotrain to the Main Terminal Building, where gates A, B, G, H are located
  2. and go through passport control

Before we realized this pretty convenient system, I had to worry a little: How so, we walk and drive around the country, but we haven’t passed passport control yet)))

Aerotrain is free (do not confuse with KLIA Express and KLIA Transit trains), runs between gates every 3 minutes, travel time is 2 minutes, the luggage cart can be brought right to the door, the entrance to the car is convenient.

Another very convenient thing is that there is a board with information about luggage right on the platforms.

In general, everything is thought out, everything is for people.

Now let's figure out how to get from KLIA airport to the city center.

Before buying a ticket at the box office, change money and break it into small bills.

Malaysia should be attributed to one of the most popular tourist destinations the last time. More and more Russians prefer this region as the main destination for their holidays. The combination of historical and modern sights, exotic life, and really unique places makes Malaysia and its main center - Kuala Lumpur - a real "pearl" of this region. Today we have to talk about how to get to Kuala Lumpur, and which route to take.

A nice bonus only for our readers - a discount coupon when paying for tours on the site until March 31:

  • AF500guruturizma - promo code for 500 rubles for tours from 40,000 rubles
  • AFT1500guruturizma - promo code for tours to Thailand from 80,000 rubles

Until March 10, the promotional code AF2000TUITRV is valid, which gives a discount of 2,000 rubles on tours to Jordan and Israel from 100,000 rubles. from tour operator TUI. Arrival dates from 28.02 to 05.05.2019.

Undoubtedly Russian capital and the capital of Malaysia is separated by a huge distance, which is easiest to overcome by plane. Those tourists who often fly to this region of Asia know that the choice of carrier companies that are happy to offer their services is impressive. It will not be difficult to choose both a budget way to get to the main Malaysian city, and find yourself in the company of huge skyscrapers in the shortest possible time. The following companies are ready to offer their services to potential customers: Air Astana, China Southern, Uzbekistan airways, Qatar, Aeroflot and many others.

In particular, air travel will be the cheapest. Air companies Astana and China Southern. The cost of services will be from 35.5 to 39 thousand rubles. Depending on the number of transfers, the road will take at least 18.5 hours, although it is often necessary to spend more than a day on the road. Of course, it is hardly possible to call such a trip a budget trip. Therefore, you can consider the offers of charter companies or a route that runs through neighboring countries. There is also an alternative offer, which, although it will cost an order of magnitude more expensive, will still appeal to those tourists who want to save at least time. Thus, the domestic carrier Aeroflot and the Asian competitor Qatar are ready to deliver passengers from Sheremetyevo to Kuala Lumpur Airport in just 13-13.5 hours. The flight also provides for a short transfer at one of the airports in the region. Nevertheless, the cost of such pleasure will be beyond the reach of many, because for a one-way ticket, each passenger will be asked from 62 to 98 thousand rubles!

Upon arrival at the airport, you will have to solve a puzzle with how to get from international terminal to the city center. The easiest way is to use a taxi Airport Limo taxi or find a private trader, of which there are many. Depending on whether you pay the taxi driver according to the meter or agree on a price with a private trader, the cost of the trip will be from 70 to 120 Malaysian ringgit. You can also use an airport taxi, but in this case the trip will cost more.

Alternative ways to be in Kuala Lumpur

If desired, you can get to the main city of Malaysia and from neighboring countries. In particular, from Singapore (more precisely, from its southern provinces) regular buses run.
