You can get from Bratislava to the airport by public transport, but not always by direct transport, so you will have to make transfers.

You can check the schedule and plan your route around the city on the public transport of Bratislava. Below are not all options with transfers, only the most common ones that work in both directions. Tickets can be bought at special machines, both at the airport and at major stations.

Public transport to Bratislava airport

From Stefanik Airport (stop Letisko or Airport) to the city or vice versa, the tourist will be interested in three main stops, depending on the purpose of the visit - visiting the Sights of Bratislava or further transfer.

  1. Bratislava castle(rest. new bridge- Most SNP) to start sightseeing.
  2. Bus station(stop Autobusová Stanica) – for further transfer.
  3. Railway station(stop Hlavná stanica or Central Railway Station) - for onward transfer.

To get in the afternoon from the airport directly to Bratislava castle or to stop new bridge you will need to change from bus 61 to tram 4 or from bus 96 to tram 70. A bunch of buses 96-70 also operates in reverse direction With new bridge V Airport. For this route, you will need to buy a 60-minute ticket for 1.2 € for 3 zones.

Taxi in Bratislava

Taxi is a more comfortable but expensive way to get from the airport to the center of Bratislava. However, it is convenient if you are traveling with friends or family.

There is a taxi at the airport called Airport Service. In addition, other companies, as well as private traders, are represented. It is better to use the services of large companies - it's cheaper. Independent taxi drivers can charge you a lot. By the way, if you order a car by phone, it turns out cheaper than catching it on the street.

The approximate cost of a taxi from Bratislava airport to the city is from 15 euros. We advise you to book a taxi in advance on a special service, so as not to worry about being deceived: the price is fixed, payment is made online, and the driver will meet you at the airport with a sign and help you with your luggage.

    What to do if the flight is canceled

    If the flight was canceled more than 24 hours before departure, then passengers are transferred to similar flights of the airline. The costs are borne by the carrier, the service is free for the passenger. If none of the options offered by the airline suits you, most airlines can issue a "forced refund". After confirmation by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this may take several weeks.

    How to check in at the airport

    Online check-in is available on the websites of most airlines. Most often, it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the departure of the aircraft.

    To check in at the airport you will need:

    • the identity card specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when traveling with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt(optional).
  • What can you take on a plane

    Hand luggage is the items that you take with you on the plane. Weight norm hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

    The bag that you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free shops can only be carried in sealed bags.

    How to pay for luggage at the airport

    If the baggage weight exceeds the norms established by the airline (most often - 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free transportation luggage and must be paid separately as an additional service.

    Baggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate drop-off check-in desk. If you are unable to print boarding pass, you can get it at the usual check-in counter of the airline, and check in and check in your luggage there.

    Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

    You can find out the time of arrival of the aircraft on the online scoreboard of the airport. The Tutu.ru website has an online scoreboard of the main Russian and foreign airports.

    You can find out the exit (gate) number on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the arrival flight information.

The air gates of Bratislava bear the name of Miroslav Stefanik, an outstanding Czechoslovak scientist, political and military figure. This transport hub is the main largest international airport in Slovakia. Compared to other ports in Europe, it is quite small, modern and well-equipped.

International code

Each airport is assigned a special code. They are required for compiling international flight charts.

Airport codes:

  • IATA-BTS;
  • ICAO-LZIB.

For passengers, information about the first code is important. It is the letters on the scoreboard that indicate the flights. The luggage tag also has exactly this encoding. Therefore, in case of erroneous delivery of baggage to another airport, this designation will not allow it to get lost. It will definitely return to the port of destination.

Online flight board

Online scoreboard allows you to get all the useful information about flights. It is possible to structure information by date, time, departure or arrival, find out information about a specific flight.

Do I need a visa to enter the city

A long connection is a rarity for the transport hub of Bratislava. Usually the transfer does not take more than one hour. But even if this happens, and the passenger does not have a Schengen visa, he is forbidden to enter the city. It must be located only in a special transit zone.

If there are no problems with the documents, then it is still worth going to Bratislava only when there is a sufficiently large break between flights. Based on practice, the margin of time should be at least 8 hours. This is enough to get out of the terminal, get to the city, wander around for a couple of hours and calmly return back to go through the pre-flight procedures.

When there is much less time for a transplant, then it is certainly not worth the risk.

Which airlines fly

The transport hub is the base for the following air carriers:

  • Air Slovakia;
  • CSA - Czech Airlines;
  • Danube Wings;
  • Travel Service Slovakia.

In addition, here I accept flights from Ryanair, FlyDubai, Astra Airlines.
From the Ivanka air hub, flights are operated almost throughout Europe.

The air gate of Bratislava, opened in 1951, is located beyond the eastern border of the city near the Danube Ivanka village. Hence the unofficial name - Ivanka Airport.

Due to the low cost of service, the terminal is popular with tourists traveling to Vienna. Therefore, the port administration intends in the near future to combine it into a single complex with the Schwechat airport, which is located in Austria, south of Vienna.
