The largest cruise ship in the world is on its maiden voyage. The largest ship in the whole world

Compare Titanic to...

This is how you can roughly compare the legendary Titanic with a modern liner. And what is this modern ship? Some call it the largest liner in the world. However, we know that the most big liner in the world it Oasis of the Seas and it is 361 meters long. And what do we read about this giant? somewhere 362 meters, somewhere 361 , but somewhere 360 meters. Do you know how this is explained? That's how: Along with its twin ship, Oasis of the Seas is the largest passenger ship in the world as of November 2010: the length of both cruise ships about 360 m (depending on temperature), and Allure of the Seas is longer than its sister by 5 cm.

After all, the designers, well, they would have made a couple of meters for sure! In general, we will consider that this ship is one of the largest in the world. And here's what it's called:

Here's another comparison:

Today, October 29, 2010, representatives cruise company Royal Caribbean International took delivery of the Allure of the Seas cruise ship from STX Europe in Turku, Finland. From that moment began a thirteen-day countdown to the debut of the delightful passenger ship, where on November 11 in its home port of Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, it will be presented to the audience during the christening ceremony. After that, the liner "Allure of the Seas" will join the sister ship "Oasis of the Seas", which will make up a duet of the most big liners in the world.

Royal Caribbean International, together with DreamWorks Animation, have developed an amazing program for the guests of the liner during their first sea voyage. Passengers will be offered various performances: ice shows and aqua shows with the participation of their favorite characters from the DreamWorks Animation studio; along with them, Chicago's show ballet Broadway will debut on board.

On liner there are 26 restaurants, some of them for the first time in the sea - this is the famous Starbucks; new kitchens designed by the US Culinary Institute; Brazilian steakhouse Samba Grill and many Mexican restaurants Rita Cantina.
Also on board liner « Allure of the Seas» debuts the GUESS store, whose clothes are the most recognizable in the world of fashion and accessories, as well as the Britto art gallery for the first time.

The official christening ceremony will take place on November 28, 2010. Then December 1st liner will embark on a four-day cruise along the northern coast of Haiti with a visit to the private beach of Labadee, and then from December 5, the sea voyage will continue along the Caribbean islands.
« Allure of the Seas» will bear the title the largest cruise ship in the world and its name will forever be inscribed in the history of world shipbuilding along with the same-type liner “Oasis of the Seas”. An architectural marvel Allure of the Seas»is divided into seven thematic areas, which include: Central Park, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.
Sixteen-deck vessel weighing 225282 tons can take on board 5400 passengers who will be accommodated in 2700 cabins.

The ship has 16 passenger decks with 2,700 comfortable cabins. They can accommodate up to 6200 (to be precise - 6203) passengers, who will be served by 3000 people from specially trained personnel. And the staff was selected for the "Charm of the Seas" with a thoroughness that Western journalists have already managed to compare with the selection for the secret service.

It also houses a concert hall and an ice skating rink, tennis courts and pools with fresh and salt water, surf pools, comedy and jazz clubs, a two-story disco, open and closed solariums, promenade decks that are not inferior in size to the boulevards. European cities, and a huge number of shops, beauty salons, bars, cafes and restaurants. Moreover, it should be noted that in stores you can buy both trifles necessary for any trip, as well as goods of the most famous world brands, among which there are even rare cars whose price is many millions of dollars, and among sports grounds there are basketball and cricket grounds. and tennis.

Well, at the service of the most demanding passengers, the team Allure of the Seas will provide an airship for air flights and several submarines, where you can both follow the ship and go on your own underwater journey. Compared to this, thirty world cuisines, whose dishes you can taste while on a ship, or a wine cellar with rarities dating back to the end of the year before last - the beginning of the last century?

The key criterion for the distribution of places was the maximum length of the ship, however, in some cases, the choice also depended on the size of the deadweight - maximum weight, which the ship can carry in order not to sink below the dangerous line (deadweight includes not only cargo, but also fuel, mass of passengers, crew and provisions).

Deadweight: 156907 t

Launched: 2006

Flag: Denmark

Status: in operation

The first of 8 identical container ships of the E-Class series of the Danish company Moller-Maersk Group. In 2006, when Emma Maersk first set sail, the ship was the largest operating ship in the world. Carries various cargoes between Northern Europe and Asia via strait of Gibraltar and the Suez Canal. This ship is accompanied by a rather bad reputation: a major fire occurred during its construction, and in 2013, as a result of damage to one of the engines, it lost control right in the Suez Canal. There was no talk of flooding, however, and management was restored. In Europe, Emma has been criticized for using sour fuel.

4 . Esso Atlantic

Length: 406.5 m

Deadweight: 516891 t

Launched: 1977

He was mainly engaged in the transportation of oil between Europe and the countries of the Middle East. Broken up for scrap in Pakistan in 2002. Also, there was an almost identical ship Esso Pacific, however, the value of the deadweight of the Atlantic is slightly higher, so it was she who took the fourth position.

3. Pierre Guillaumat

Length: 414.2 m

Deadweight: 555051 t

Launched: 1977

Flag: France

Status: scrapped

This supertanker was the largest in terms of deadweight among the family of almost identical French Batillus ships. Built by the French company Chantiers de l "Atlantique, "lived" only 5 years and was dismantled for scrap in South Korea in 1983; the same fate befell the rest of the family (Prairial, Bellamya, Batillus). Such a short service life is explained by the fact that the commercial utility of the supertanker turned out to be minimal: it could not pass through either the Suez Canal or the Panama Canal.

2. Seawise Giant ( Knock Nevis)

Length: 458.5 m

Deadweight: 564763 t

Launched: 1979

Flag: Sierra Leone (last registered country)

Status: scrapped

Until recently, it was the longest ship in history. The Seawise Giant supertanker was so huge that its length was compared to the tallest buildings in the world. The ship could not fit either in Suez or in panama canal; even the English Channel turned out to be “Giant” not in terms of tonnage. During the Iran-Iraq war in 1988, the ship was seriously damaged by an Iraqi air force missile while it was carrying Iranian oil in the Persian Gulf. As a result, the ship sank close to the coast, but soon after the war, Norman International was able to tow it to Singapore, where the ship was repaired and re-commissioned already in 1991, already with a new optimistic name - "Happy Giant". Subsequently, the ship was turned into a floating platform, and in 2009 the Giant set off on its last journey - to the coast of India, where it was subsequently dismantled for scrap.

Launched: hull only, 2013

Flag: not yet received

Status: under construction

Prelude is the world's first floating platform not only for transportation, but also for the production and liquefaction of natural gas directly on board. Under construction by South Korean Samsung Heavy Industries for Royal Dutch Shell. Essentially a mobile gas processing plant, the Prelude is already the largest floating structure ever built by man. By 2017, when the construction of all high-tech components on the hull is completed, it is planned to carry out the first drilling of the seabed near the coast of Australia.

They are called "cities of the sea" with numerous entertainments and all kinds of amenities for passengers. Until today, the Titanic was considered the legendary, large-scale passenger liner. But now the largest cruise ship in the world in 2016 is Harmony of the seas ("Harmony of the Seas"). With a height of 70 cubic meters, a length of 362 m. It even broke the record for the length of the RCI vessel, built in 2010 by Allure of the seas ("Charm of the Seas"). The new giant is larger than the previous one by only 2 cm.

The total power of six diesel units is 132 thousand / horsepower, thanks to engine traction, it develops speed over 22 knots. This is the third giant from the representatives of the class "The largest cruise ship in the world" for 2016.

In order to fill the rest for passengers for a long time on the ship, there are many entertainments, and some travelers sometimes do not have time to try everything during their stay. Quite for a reasonable amount, which will be equal to a 1-day vacation in Thailand, but if you do not order luxury apartments, but settle in standard rooms. Now round-the-world trips on the sea are provided not only for the elite. Such entertainment is available to the middle class. So, all that remains is to earn money for such a voyage, stock up on a great mood and go ahead - buy a tour on the largest cruise ship in the world in 2016!

The largest cruise ship: video

Once the most big ship was the Titanic. But today there are ships that are several times the size of the Titanic. In this article we will talk about the largest ship in the world.

The Titanic was a cruise ship. Everyone remembers his story. He collided with an iceberg because he was very huge and could not turn sideways in time. It seemed that such liners could not exist, they are very bulky and their fate was not comforting. But it turned out that such liners can exist, while being several times larger. For today the most large liner this is Oasis of the Seas. Photo below:

the largest liner in the world

It is indeed several times larger than the Titanic. Look at this image:

The largest ship

Royal Caribbean International wanted to build a ship that would be the best for years to come and on October 28, 2009, Oasis of the Seas was launched. It immediately became the largest cruise ship in the world. The vessel also became the most expensive, as its price amounted to 1.24 billion dollars. The average cost of a ship's stay in the port is $230,000. And this is for a few hours of stay!

The dimensions of the liner are striking; its length is 360 meters, the width is 66 meters, and the height at the very high point was 72 meters.

world's largest liner

The largest ship: characteristics

It is rightly said that this is not just a ship, but a whole small city. The dimensions of this liner are five times larger than the dimensions of the Titanic. On board can be 6360 passengers and 2160 crew members. On the ship a large number of various entertainment centers. From swimming pools to real theatre. There are 4 pools on the liner, which together make up 23,000 liters of water. There are 12 thousand plants and 56 large trees on the ship. There is a park, a climbing wall, 10 spa cents. It is so huge that it is even divided into thematic zones.

The largest ship has several restaurants, its park is similar to a park in New York, so classical American music will be played there. You can still say a lot about the ship, but I suggest watching the video.

Dockwise Vanguard

Sure, the Oasis of the Seas is the largest liner, but there is also the Dockwise Vanguard, the world's largest heavy-lift ship.

On February 12, 2013, the ship made its first voyage. Dockwise Vanguard arrived at Gulf of Mexico in April 2013. The cargo he carried was 56,000 tons, but the maximum load could be 110,000 tons.

world's largest liner

The vessel was designed by Hyundai Heavy Industries for Dockwise Shipping. It was launched in 2012. In terms of performance, it does not surpass the liner "Oasis of the Seas". Displacement 91238 tons, deadweight 117000 tons. Length 275 meters, width 79 meters, draft 9.5 meters. Max Speed travel 14.4 knots, average 12.9 knots.

The way of loading onto the ship is also unique. Special compartments filled with water and the ship slowly but surely sinks under the water. After the ship is under water, cargo is loaded onto it.

To service the ship, 60 people will be required, who are located in the hold of the ship.

The well-known "Costa Concordia", which crashed in January 2012 off the coast of the island of Giglia (Tuscany), will be transported using this ship. Let me remind you that the Costa Concordia is several times larger than the Titanic.
