How long does it take to get from danang to hue. Hue Vietnam - the ancient citadel of the emperors. How to get from Nha Trang to Hoi An - Da Nang - Hue

After a calm and romantic Hoi an we headed to the city of Hue, also located in central Vietnam. Hue until recently was the imperial capital of the Nguyen dynasty, and already in the twentieth century played an important role in the Vietnam War.

In 1802, Emperor Gia Long moved the capital from Hanoi to Hue and began building the Citadel, a fortified fortress on the banks of the Huong River, which means "fragrant." The imperial power resisted the influence of France, but nevertheless the colonialists managed to conquer the fortress, burning everything in their path.

Fortress

During the division of the country and Vietnam War the city was in the territory South Vietnam and played an important role in the outcome of the war. It was here that the great fighting during the famous Tet Offensive, which made a turning point in the war, North Vietnamese forces attacked the positions of the Americans and the South Vietnamese army.

Despite the fact that many buildings were destroyed during the war, Hue has a large historical heritage— Citadel, imperial palace, pagodas, and their restoration is still underway. Now the city is quite calm and even sleepy :-)

On the river you can ride on these funny boats

Huong river and bridge

There are many universities and young people in the city, we came across a university foreign languages The children ride bikes from school.

Most of Hue's sights are located within the Citadel, with the imperial tombs to the south of the city.

The Imperial Corps is, as it were, a city within a city, where the emperor's residence, palaces, residential and utility rooms are located. It is best to come here early in the morning (open from 07-00), while there are few people, and you can take a leisurely walk among the historical buildings.

Wall of the Citadel

All tourists enter through the main huge gate with south side fortresses.

There are beautiful patterns on the walls - you can see them in many places in Vietnam and China.

It's quite interesting to walk through all these back streets and halls, imagining yourself as an emperor, bypassing his possessions :-) Here are carved doors ... can you imagine how much work has been invested in them?

What can be seen now is only a part of the whole complex, the rest was destroyed during the war. A walk around the Citadel will take several hours - along the way you will meet both already restored palaces and museums, as well as dilapidated walls with falling tiles and fields overgrown with grass.

South of Hue there are several tombs of the Nguyen emperors, as well as pagodas. Most of the mausoleums consist of five parts: the first is a pavilion dedicated to the achievements and exploits of the emperor, the second is the temple, the third is the tomb itself, the fourth is the courtyard, and the fifth is the pond.

To visit the tombs, you can book a tour at one of the travel agencies, or you can rent a bike or bike and drive yourself.

Hue Hotels

Most of the hotels in Hue are located on the opposite bank of the river from the Citadel, in the new city. Here you can find very cheap options and at the same time for good quality. We stayed at the B&B Guesthouse in the center of Hue for only $6 per night per room. Free fruits included!

You can see popular and inexpensive options in the center:

How to get to Hue?

By plane. Hue Airport is called Phu Bai (code HUI) and is located south of the city. There are direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City (from $20), Dalat (from $30) and Hanoi by VietJet, Jetstar, Vietnam Airlines.

By train. The city is located on the main railway line from north to south, and the train can come from anywhere located on this road.

Hanoi Hue trains run five times a day, you can choose night flights, travel time 13-14 hours. Ticket prices from 350 thousand dong for seats to 850 thousand dong for a compartment.

You can also get from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue by one of the five trains, the travel time is 19-21 hours, and the fare depends on the class - from 720 thousand dong to 1 million 250 thousand.

To get from Nha Trang to Hue by train will take 11-12 hours and from 400 to 700 thousand VND.

Bus. The main bus station is located 4 km southeast of the center, from where you can get to Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City.

It is more convenient to ride on the so-called open-bus buses, they pick up and drop off passengers at tourist center close to a cluster of hotels. We recommend the Sinh Tourist company, the schedule and prices from Hue are as follows:

- Da Nang (departure at 08-00 and at 13-15, the cost is 99 thousand VND).

– Hoi An (departure time and cost is the same).

- Hanoi (departure at 17-15, cost 219 thousand VND, night sleeping bus).

In hotels and cafes in the center you can book tickets to Savannakhet (Laos).

Cafes and restaurants where to eat in Hue?

There is a good food court in mall Big C, on Hung Vuong Street, with low prices for a variety of food and juices / shakes. A lot of coffee shops are located on Nguen Hue street (go from Big C to the southwest) - these are the usual establishments where locals go, but the coffee is very good, be sure to stop by if you are nearby.

We wanted something like that, so we went to the Ware House cafe, where we ordered fruity snacks with yogurt and cocoa with mint.

what to go for

Don't miss in Hue

  • Ride in a small traditional dragon boat fragrant river to the seven-tiered one, go up to the pagoda and admire the incredible views that open from the observation decks.
  • Explore the ancient ruins of the Imperial Citadel, where the destinies of the peoples of Asia were decided just a few centuries ago.
  • Walk around the city, bargain at the local market.
  • Rent a motorbike or bicycle and explore the ancient tombs of emperors, rural areas and.
  • Enjoy local delicacies - banh khoai (spicy pancakes) and banh bot loc boc tom thit (meat and shrimp stuffing wrapped in thin rice cakes), which are especially delicious to drink with local Hue Yum beer!

Tien Mu Pagoda

Built over 400 years ago, this seven-tiered beauty is Vietnam's tallest and most elegant pagoda to this day. picturesquely located on a high hill near the river, 3 kilometers from the city. The pagoda is active, a Buddhist monastery and a monastery garden are located near the pagoda. Entrance to the pagoda is free, you can get there by the river or from the city by bike or motorbike.

Cruises on the Fragrant River

Cruises around are a must experience in Hue. Small authentic dragon-boats ply along the river (which, by the way, at the same time as their tourist destination, often serve houseboat to their owners) and sightseeing boats - bigger and more modern.

Renting a small boat costs about $10, a large one costs about $20. Standard Route- to the pagoda and back with the possibility of stopping at the Imperial Citadel (where on the way back from the pagoda you can leave the boat and see the Imperial Citadel). You can also join organized tourist cruises down the river.

imperial citadel

- the main attraction of Hue. On large area, surrounded by high ancient fortifications, you will find the preserved remains of the ancient imperial city - pedestrian quarters and gardens, ceremonial pavilions and halls, bridges and lakes, residences and palaces. Entrance costs about 8 dollars, plan to visit the citadel for at least a few hours. The citadel is open from 6.30 to 17.30.

Neighborhood Hue

Along the river, 7-16 kilometers from the city, there are ancient complexes - surrounded by magnificent parks. Each of the tombs is interesting in its own way, but visiting all the tombs can be an expensive pleasure, since the entrance to each of the tombs costs 5-8 dollars. Therefore, be careful when booking tours of the surrounding area and long river cruises, as the entrance fee to the complexes is usually not included in the tours.

The best option for exploring the surroundings in Hue (extra day) is to rent a motorbike or take a motorcycle tour. So, you can see one or two tombs (choose either Tu Duc or Minh Mang), see the countryside, go to the hot springs and / or spend a couple of hours on picturesque beach An Beach, which is located 13 kilometers from Hue.

Vietnam ... I have so many memories from a trip to this exotic country, which after a year all warm me and warm ... I went there with friends. In most cases, it was I who made the travel itineraries, on my shoulders, so to speak, I carried this burden. As for the Hanoi - Hue direction, everything is quite simple - there are already four travel options.

Automobile

You can drive from Hanoi to Hue by car in thirteen hours (this is non-stop).
You can rent a car online. There are a bunch of sites like where you can look at brands and prices. But there is one drawback here - you can rent a car in Hanoi only if you plan to return there after a holiday in Hue.
In addition to online rental, you can try and find companies in the city that provide such services. But we must be prepared for the fact that such a "pleasure" will cost from $ 150. Expensive, isn't it? And also on gasoline you will have to pay from 60-70 greens. Plus Vietnamese roads paid ones, however, will cost a few dollars, but you need to count on extra expenses.
Besides, Russian tourist it will be difficult on the roads of this Asian country:

  • there is a speed limit - 40-50 km / h;
  • narrowly - in most cases, two lanes;
  • along the way you can often meet various technical obstacles, such as overloaded cars and motorcycles.

Well, the last pitfall is the need to make a temporary driving license. For this you need to contact the local departments. Production time - about a week.

Bus

Now I'll move on to public transport. And the number one option is the bus.

This transport is one of the most popular not only among locals, but also among tourists, because there are several advantages here:

  • not very expensive;
  • comfortable;
  • funny. :)

Slipbuses run along the route, that is, the chairs in the middle are laid out so much that they turn into individual beds. :) It's a bit strange for us, because what is it like to travel lying down? But, in fact, quite comfortable, especially over long distances. In particular, it will take twelve and a half hours to travel from Hanoi to Hue.

Buses can be taken from the bus station in Hanoi.

Some travel companies They also offer such a service - passengers are taken around the city, from hotels. This point needs to be clarified. By the way, I managed to find two carriers on the Internet (but there are more of them, check at the bus station):

  • Hoang long.
  • The Sinh Tourist.

Prices

Hoang long offers more expensive tickets: 330,000 VND (14.5 USD) without food, and with it - 390,000 VND (17.2 USD).

But in The Sinh Tourist you can buy a ticket even for 199,000 dong ($9).

Purchase

You can buy tickets at the box office of the Hanoi bus station or at the offices of companies (the addresses are on the websites of these carriers). You can also use online purchase, but still the reservation will need to be exchanged for paper ticket.

Train

To travel from Hanoi to Hue, you can use and by rail.

Trains depart from the central railway station Vietnamese capital.

The duration of the trip from one city to another is twelve or thirteen hours, depending on the flight.
Several trains of the SE category run along the route. Schedule

Prices

You can even buy a ticket for 285,000 dong ($13).

Purchase

It is best to buy at the ticket office of the railway station or in guesthouses (convenient, but with an extra charge), but our cards do not pass (my two did not pass).

Avia

Well, the simplest convenient way is air travel. Such air travel only takes an hour and fifteen minutes.

You can get to the departure point in Hanoi by taxi or bus.
Between these cities, daily flights are carried out:

  • Vietnam Airlines.
  • Vietjet.

A bus or taxi will also take you from Hue Airport to the city. You can take a chance and use a motorcycle taxi. :) Oh, and get extreme. :)

Prices

Vietnam Airlines offers flights from VND2,070,000 ($91).

But on a plane from Vietjet, you can buy a ticket for 840,000 dong ($ 37), since this company positions itself as a low-cost airline.

Purchase

It’s worth buying online, on different search engines, like, or on the official pages of air carriers:

Outcome

My friends and I pre-purchased tickets for the low-cost Vietjet, saving not only money, time, but also a lot of nerves.

Classmates

Hue is a city in central Vietnam rich in cultural attractions. You can get to it in several ways - by plane, train or bus. How to do it - read below.

How to get to Hue by plane

Hue Airport

Near the city is phu bai airport(Phu Bai, HUI), where planes fly daily from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Flights are operated by three airlines:

  • Vietnam Airlines
  • vietjet
  • JetStar Pacific

Be careful: during the rainy season (that is, from mid-October to mid-December), flights are often canceled due to bad weather– in these months it is better to get to Hue in other ways.

From the airport to the city center can be reached in half an hour by taxi for 250,000 VND (about $12) or by bus for 50,000 VND ($2.5). The bus can even take you to your hotel.

Da Nang Airport

A taxi from Da Nang Airport to Hue will at best cost about $45 for a large car and $40 for a small one; if you don't bargain well, prices may be higher. If you go by the counter, it will come out to about $ 60 or 1,200,000 Vietnamese dong. You can also order a taxi with a Russian-speaking driver from the Russian company Kiwitaxi - they will quickly and comfortably take you from the airport to your hotel or other place in the city.

You can immediately check the current prices for tickets to Hue or Da Nang using the form below.

Hue can be reached by train from Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and other cities in Vietnam. Ticket price and types of carriages

There are several types of seats on trains in Vietnam. The fare depends on the type. There are the following types of wagons:

  • Seat place
  • Hard berths
  • soft beds

Seating places are “soft” and “hard” - they are the cheapest, but traveling in such a car to Hue for more than twelve hours is a dubious pleasure.

Hard berths are a car with six-seater compartments, where the shelves are arranged in three tiers. The lower the shelf, the cheaper the ticket. The most comfortable (and most expensive) option is soft beds, located four in one compartment (similar to our reserved seat cars if they can be compared).

From railway station to the city

From the station to the center of Hue you can walk, it will take about 40 minutes. Motorcyclists on duty at the station will give you a ride on a bike for 20,000-30,000 VND.

From any big city Vietnam, you can get to Hue by bus. You can get from Hanoi in 12 hours, and from Ho Chi Minh City you will have to travel all day. Many buses also pass through Hue, connecting Da Nang and Hoi An (located a little south) with Hanoi. Tickets can be purchased at bus stations and travel agencies.

Sinh Café is also a popular bus carrier in Vietnam. Tickets for their buses can be bought online or at the company's office (they are available in many cities in Vietnam).
