ChapterVII. HOME TRAINING

Educational and methodological support of the process of teaching a foreign language in schools of home education

The foreign language program puts forward a number of requirements for the formation of a basic level of education for schoolchildren, but the requirements of the program are not feasible due to reasons related to the individual characteristics of students and a limited number of hours (1 hour per week instead of 3 according to the basic curriculum). Based on the specifics of the home school when teaching a foreign language to schoolchildren, there is a need to create individual planning, which is developed on the basis of a foreign language program for schools of the first model, taking into account the peculiarities of psychophysical development and the capabilities of students. At the same time, the main principle of organizing the educational process in a home-based school is to ensure a gentle mode of conducting classes, as close as possible to home conditions. A foreign language as an academic subject is currently considered as a means of learning about other countries, social systems and groups, as an opportunity to get acquainted with national structures, as a way of understanding mother tongue and native culture, as a way of communicative development of the personality, as an educational base for teaching the norms of intercultural communication in different spheres of life. A foreign language, being one of the subjects of a general education school, is designed to ensure, first of all, the formation of communicative competence, i.e. the ability and readiness to communicate by means of a foreign language. Teaching a foreign language at school pursues a comprehensive implementation of practical, educational, educational and developmental goals. The foreign language program for schools of the first model puts forward a number of requirements for:  a meaningful plan for productive and receptive types of speech activity (the ability to communicate in situations of social, domestic, educational, labor, socio-cultural spheres of communication);  formed productive speech skills (skills of dialogical, monologue, written speech);  formed receptive speech skills (ability of listening, reading).  But the requirements of the program are not feasible due to a number of reasons:  individual characteristics of students (the nature of the illness of students, seasonal changes in the state of health of children, planned inpatient examinations of students, etc.);  limited number of hours - 1 hour per week instead of 3 for the basic curriculum and the foreign language program. Based on the specifics of the school of home schooling, when teaching a foreign language to schoolchildren, there is a need to create individual planning, which is developed on the basis of a program in foreign languages for schools of the first model, taking into account the peculiarities of the psychophysical development and capabilities of students, the complexity of the structure of their defect, the characteristics of the emotional and volitional sphere, the nature of the course of the disease. The implementation of these principles is helped by the use of developmental learning technologies, the use of block presentation of material, the passage of some topics in the familiarization mode, changing the methodology and technologies for conducting control and independent work, the use of health-saving learning technologies, the implementation individual approach to the students. Learning a foreign language has great importance for children with disabilities, children who have been in a narrow circle of people for many years, deprived of communication with their peers. The subject expands their horizons, their understanding of the world around them. Children receive knowledge about the history, culture of the country of the language being studied, its traditions and customs. It should be noted the importance of interdisciplinary connections of a foreign language with other disciplines. Learning a foreign language helps in the development of students' intellectual and cognitive abilities, develops imagination, thinking, strengthens memory, improves pronunciation skills (diction) of students when working with phonetics. Teachers who work with such children face serious challenges. The teacher will have to carefully adjust the requirements of foreign language programs, taking into account the characteristics of students, select educational material, vary and differentiate the study of individual topics, taking into account the individual characteristics of students. When selecting educational and methodological support, choosing technologies for working with children, it is necessary to remember the so-called boundary indicators of intellectual development. So, when working with children who have a borderline and near-border level of development, as the experience of teachers in the city of Moscow shows, one can give preference to O.V. ”(Titul publishing house). These manuals allow students to master the program material in stages. They contain feasible tasks, questions for self-control, keys that allow you to work independently on a foreign language. These teaching materials consist of a book for the student, a book for the teacher, a workbook, a grammar book and audio materials. For children with intellectual development indicators above the borderline level, we can recommend V. P. Kuzovlev’s teaching materials.

Many schoolchildren experience difficulties in learning English as part of a general education program. Often a student can only translate simple texts with a dictionary or communicate only on specific narrow topics.

In addition, many children require in-depth study of a foreign language. For example, after school, the child plans to enter a linguistic university or is going to go abroad to study. Of course, additional lessons will not interfere with students who are lagging behind in the school curriculum - for example, the child missed an important topic, or it is difficult for him to learn the language. In addition, learning English from scratch will be useful for those who previously studied another foreign language at school.

English Home Teaching

Today's schoolchildren are very busy with homework, besides, many of them attend sports clubs, music and art institutions of additional education, and they also need time for rest and hobbies! Therefore, it is sometimes difficult in a busy daily routine to find time to attend English courses or a trip to a tutor. A rational solution would be to organize English language training at home. Inviting a tutor to your home is often unreasonably expensive and, moreover, not always convenient. For example, if a child is alone at home during the day, not every parent will agree that a stranger comes to him. Perfect solution- distance learning via the Internet.

To learn English online, your child will only need a computer, laptop or tablet with Internet access and the ability to watch videos. On the site http: // site / in the "English language" section you will find a lot of educational materials on various sections of the school curriculum from grades 2 to 11. For each section there is a video lesson where the teacher explains in detail one or another aspect of the subject. Full text lesson notes are also provided, which allows you to visually consider all the examples and remember the rules that exist in given language. Special simulators will help to consolidate the acquired knowledge. And you can check how well the topic is mastered with the help of special tests.

Online English teaching

The family form of education in our time is becoming more and more popular. If earlier homeschooling was mainly for disabled children, today many parents of healthy children prefer not traditional education at the school desk, but classes at home. The right to family education is available to every student and is enshrined in Russian legislation.

Homeschooling is a great option if your child:

  • poorly understands the teacher's explanations;
  • often misses classes due to illness;
  • is involved in sports or creativity, and it is difficult for him to attend school according to the standard schedule;
  • cannot concentrate on the subject due to problems in communicating with classmates;
  • wants to study the subject more thoroughly than it is taught at school;
  • the child's family moves frequently.

However, in this case, parents face many questions: what textbooks to choose, how to teach the material so that the child understands everything and can apply knowledge. It can be an excellent assistant in this. In it you can get knowledge in all subjects, and at your school you can only take certification exams. Not only lessons are available here, but also Feedback: our teachers will check the homework, conduct video consultations with analysis of mistakes and difficult moments, answer all questions.

In terms of qualifications, Home School teachers are in no way inferior to teachers of any general educational institution, and often even surpass them. Video lessons are created by a whole team of specialists from teachers of the highest category to specialists in the field of computer graphics and directors, thanks to which the lectures are as clearly structured and understandable as possible. The material is assimilated even better than if the student was sitting at the first desk. An important advantage is that you can always pause the lesson or watch an incomprehensible moment again.

The Home School has a class schedule for the timely study of all topics in the course of the school curriculum of a particular subject and a grade book for knowledge control. You can study at a pace convenient for the child, all materials are available at any time on the site. Only in the summer period there are restrictions on checking homework and online consultations.

If you are not yet ready to fully switch to a family form of education, you can choose only English classes at home. The child attends his regular school, and at home he studies according to the lessons of the Home School. This will help him to better understand the school curriculum, understand incomprehensible moments, repeat a forgotten topic before a test, or prepare for an exam.

By agreement with the administration of the educational institution where the child is enrolled, it is possible to study the subjects of the general education program at the Home School, and then take intermediate assessments at their school.

English is a universal means of communication and storage of information at the present time. English has not lost its position as the first language in the world for many years, and there is no reason to assume that the ranking of the popularity of languages will change in the near future.

Many serious people today choose to study English at home, because such training helps to save the most precious thing - time. It is believed that the most important thing in mastering any subject is the atmosphere that a good teacher can create. With the present technical progress a live teacher can easily come to your home via skype. At the same time, during the time that you would have spent on the road to the place of study and back, you can study two more languages or study English 3 times more. And this already increases the effectiveness and speed of your progress.

Why homeschooling in spoken English is the most effective?

In past centuries, homeschooling was considered a privilege of the aristocracy. Teachers were traditionally invited home and worked with the child individually. Sometimes brothers and sisters studied together. However, in large classes, children of the aristocracy were rarely taught. IN educational establishments they entered only in adolescence or after completing courses in basic disciplines. Group learning is now the norm. If we calculate how much time per hour a teacher can devote to each student out of, for example, 10, then it becomes completely clear that such training is ineffective. Learning, in which the attention of the teacher entirely belongs to you, increases the effectiveness of mastering a foreign language at times. At the same time, Skype training provides maximum convenience and comfort. The only thing that is required of you in terms of organizing classes is to turn on the computer and get comfortable.

Comfortable will allow you to build the educational process the way you want it. Language learning will be based mainly on practice and working out colloquial speech, because it is colloquial speech that is the most difficult in mastering the language. For most Russian speakers, the biggest problem in learning English is listening comprehension. Moreover, when a Russian-speaking teacher speaks with an accent, understanding does not cause any particular difficulties, because clear pronunciation in this case is similar to Russian, but when a situation of communication with foreigners arises, half of what they said remains completely misunderstood.

Intensive home teaching in spoken English completely solves this problem. You initially learn to understand English speech by ear and reproduce it without an accent, since your teacher will be a native English speaker.

Any textbook that you will be offered in the course does not reflect the rich, mobile, diverse living language. Often students and schoolchildren are taught from textbooks a language that is not really spoken in English-speaking countries. Colloquial with a native speaker is the real living language that you can use in English and other countries for any purpose.
