How to get to the airport

By taxi

A long line of taxis will be waiting for you right outside the airport. What kind of yellow car you will get will be determined by the airport employee in charge of traffic. If you still decide to take a taxi, we recommend that you take a printout with the name of the hotel and its address in Spanish. The trip will be calculated according to the meter, usually the travel time does not take more than 30 minutes. Including Quantity occupied places and luggage, the cost will be approximately 30-40 EUR.

By train

By train or suburban train RENFE is the fastest and cheapest way to get to the city. The train departs from the platform on the territory of the airport every 30 minutes from 6 am to 12 am. A ticket can be bought here at the box office or in special machines for 4.60 EUR, avoiding the queue. The trip will last approximately 25 minutes. The train makes three stops: Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gracia and Clot. Almost all metro lines and bus routes diverge from here. Remember that from Terminal No. 1 there is no direct exit to the platform, you will need to make a short trip to free bus.

By bus

Opposite each terminal there is a parking lot for the Aerobus A1 express bus, which connects the airport and the city center (Pl. Catalunya) every 12 minutes. Buses run from 6:10 to 1:05. The ticket will cost 5.90 EUR. Like the train, the bus makes three stops: Plaça Espanya, Gran Via/Urgell, Plaça Universitat. If you're unlucky enough to arrive at night, don't despair: Plaza España can be reached by bus number 17, which departs from the airport every hour.

On the transfer

The fastest and most comfortable way to get there. You need to choose a car of a suitable class and capacity in advance, and the driver will meet you at the airport with a name plate. The cost indicated at the time of booking will be fixed: for example, traffic jams will not affect it.

Detailed instructions on how to get to Barcelona airport at any time of the day, how to get to the city center and how not to get confused in bus stops (and airports 🙂).

Which airport are you arriving at?

How many airports are there in Barcelona?

Tourists vacationing in the capital of Catalonia on a tour usually arrive at main airport Barcelona El Prat.

Meanwhile, independent travelers are familiar with at least two more places of departure and arrival, because Barcelona also has Reus airport and Girona airport. How to get from these locations is a frequent question, and we will also talk about this, but for now we will clarify the situation.

If El Prat is the main airport where most international and domestic flights arrive major airlines, then Reus and Girona accept mainly low-cost carriers - low-cost carriers (for example, everyone's favorite Pobeda 🙂 or Ryanair). They are located farther from the city, and this is a kind of "retribution" for a cheaper flight to Barcelona.

By the way, we recommend looking for tickets on Skyscanner and Aviasales. Compare the cost on both sites, it often differs. To make the search even more convenient, the price comparison function by months (for the first one) and the calendar will help low prices(at the second).

Advice: low-cost airlines are profitable only if the difference in tickets with a regular airline is more than 1000 rubles, because transfer from Girona or Reus airport to Barcelona costs from 700 rubles. Sometimes you can grab charter tickets for 8,000 - 9,000 rubles round-trip from Moscow.

Barcelona El Prat Airport - how to get there?

El Prat Airport is located just 13 km from the city. Transport connection between the center and the airport terminals it is well established - you can get there by bus, train, metro and taxi.

Important: at Barcelona airport there are 2 terminals - T1 and T2 (consists of 3 buildings, designated T2A, T2B, T2C), located 4 km from each other. When you leave, check in advance which terminal you are departing from, as it will take about half an hour to move between them. In case of a mistake, take the free green shuttle, stops at the exit of the terminals.

These blue buses run from Plaza Catalunya to El Prat Airport and back

BUSES TMB

Most cheap way to get from the airport to Barcelona - buses 46 of the TMB company. These are ordinary city buses, less comfortable, without a luggage compartment and with more stops along the way. However, in addition to the low ticket price, there is a T10 ticket.

Travel ticket T10

One of the life hacks that will help you save money on transport in Barcelona is to buy a T10 ticket for 10.20€. This is a 10-journey pass for all public transport in Barcelona (bus, metro, train, tram). We buy it every time we come to the city from 2 days. Sometimes we run together through the turnstile in one pass 🙂 Only ts-s.

It can be transferred to other persons without any problems, i.e. got on the bus - validated the travel pass - handed over to your companion / companions. Look, if you buy T10 for two, five trips each will cost 5€, while five trips with a regular one-time ticket will come out to 10€.

But how to use the T10 ticket in Barcelona is even more profitable: within 1 hour and 15 minutes from the moment of composting, you can transfer to another public transport 3 times, and the trips will not be written off (the machine reads the time of the last stamp, and if the indicated period has not expired, just skips). However, this trick will not work with repeated travel on the metro or buses with the same number - you will either have to write off the trip or take the train / tram.

You can buy a ticket at Barcelona Airport at the entrance to the railway station or at any metro station. Note that it CANNOT be used on the Aerobus and at the Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 metro stations.

But from here by train you can get to the airport for ONLY 1 euro

How to get to Barcelona by train

The Renfe train from Barcelona airport to the center follows one, and only from the station in the T2B terminal. If you are / need to get to T1, take the free shuttle at the exit of the terminals. Way to get there for 1 euro we discovered on our last trip to Barcelona in May 2018 🙂

R2 Nord is the name of the train when it goes from the airport to the city. The first route leaves at 05:42, the last - at 23:38, with a regularity of once every half an hour. It connects to Estacio Sants, Passeig de Gràcia and El Clot train stations. Travel time is 20, 27 and 31 minutes respectively. The ticket can be bought at the machines at the entrance to the station at the airport, T10 is also valid.

R2 Aeroport - this is the name of the train when traveling from Barcelona to the airport. You can sit at the three stations indicated above: El Clot (05:22 - 23:01), Passeig de Gràcia (05:08 - 23:07), Barcelona Sants (05:13 - 23:14) and get to the T2B terminal. Tickets are on sale at each of the stops.

The train runs from 5:08 am to 11:07 pm every half hour.

When buying T10 (10.20€) - one trip will cost 1.02€ to the city center + free transfer to the metro within 1 hour 15 minutes after the first passage through the turnstile.

Total: get from the airport to anywhere in Barcelona for almost 70 rubles 🙂

This is advantageous if you come to the city for more than 3 days. You can get back to the airport in the same way! But be sure to check the train schedule and be careful. The remaining 8 trips can be used to ride the subway / bus / train around the city. You can take for two if you plan to use transport minimally 😉

For the cost and the exact timetable of trains from / to Barcelona Airport, see the Renfe website.

How to get by metro from Barcelona airport

The metro stations at Barcelona Airport are connected to the city by the L9 Sud line. Car rental at the airport

At Barcelona El Prat Airport, car rental is available in both the first and second terminals. Upon arrival, you will be happy to offer their services to such car rental companies as Avis, Europcar, Goldcar Rental, Hertz, Sixt, etc.

However, there are two downsides. Firstly, they do not work around the clock (07:00-00:00) and, secondly, you will have to pay extra for urgency. Conclusion - it is better to think about car rental at Barcelona airport in advance.

The offers of all those car rental companies are collected on Rentalcars and Skyscanner Car Hire. Unlike "on-the-spot negotiations", here you can compare options and choose the car that suits your taste, budget and car insurance preferences. My friends and I took a Mini Cooper for 370 euros for 5 days. There were 4 of us, and this option turned out to be very profitable (read more)

What you need to know about car rental in Spain? Reviews and comments from the forums advise, first of all, to decide on insurance - if you want to take a car without a deposit / deposit and without a franchise, then make out a “super cover”, i.e. insurance with full coverage, from the distributor itself upon receipt of the car. Insure with brokers (the aforementioned sites), then leave a deposit. It is also recommended to pay attention to the mileage limit clause (for example, for rentals over 15 days there may be a limit of 100 km per day).

Barcelona Airport has been keeping track of its existence since 1918. Since then, it has taken the second place in terms of passenger traffic in Spain and is listed among the largest airports in Europe. More than thirty million people pass through the two terminals of Barcelona Airport every year. Terminal T2 - early construction, divided into three sectors - A B and C. Recently introduced new terminal- T1, built, by the way, according to the project of Ricardo Beaufil.

Looking at the plan Barcelona airport, we can see that the new terminal is quite a distance from the old one. This is true, but the distance between the terminals will not have to be overcome on foot - inside Barcelona airport free buses run. However, if you are using Barcelona airport for a flight with a transfer, you need to keep in mind that passengers of different airlines are checked in both in different sectors and terminals. And when "docking" flights, you need to take an hour - an hour and a half for possible movements inside the airport.

Buses are convenient in that they depart from the terminal every fifteen minutes. Large, comfortable, easy to recognize by the characteristic blue color and the inscription "Aerobus", depart from the terminal. You can get to the new terminal T1 by following the C31 a little further and turning following the sign. This mutual arrangement of terminals and access roads is caused by the peculiarities of the relative position of the runways. However, you can easily and without problems park and leave the car at the old terminal, and go to the new one by shuttle bus, since they run with enviable regularity and are free.

These details are unlikely to interest you if you arrived at Barcelona airport for the first time and were going to get to the city by taxi, booked a transfer, or by public transport. How many airports are there in Barcelona.

Some flights to Barcelona have their final destination Reus or Girona. In fact, there is only one airport in Barcelona. This is the BCN Airport, Barcelona, located ten kilometers south of the city, in the municipality of El Prat de Llobregat. Barcelona airport map can be found by exact coordinates - 41 degrees, 17 minutes north latitude, and 2 degrees, 4 minutes east longitude. This airport is the main and only Barcelona airport. However, within a radius of one hundred kilometers from it there are two more airports - Girona Airport and Reus. They are sometimes referred to as Girona-Barcelona or Reus-Barcelona. Indeed, some flights to Barcelona go to these airports. This may be due to several reasons. In addition to negative weather conditions, main reason is the use of these two airports as so-called hubs, that is, transfer nodes. In other words, many airlines use airports that are less busy with passengers for rolling flights - in the case when there is no direct connection between two cities, a hub is used - an airport, flight-bound with both cities. Airports with less passenger traffic are more suitable for this purpose. After all, many passengers of such flights do not even leave the customs control zone, and after a couple of hours they go further - to their final destination. Therefore, many flights to Barcelona land in Girona or Reus. However, the distance from these airports to Barcelona does not exceed hundreds of kilometers, and you can also get there by taxi, electric train or bus in a couple of hours. In addition, a significant part of the resorts of Catalonia is located either in the Costa Brava or in the vicinity of Tarragona. In this case, it is more profitable for the tour operator to use flights to Girona (Costa Bravo) and Reus (20 minutes to Tarragona), and there is no need to make a “detour” through the capital of Catalonia. The use of duplicate airports makes it possible to generally reduce service prices.

Girona airport accepts international flights. Located 12 kilometers from the city of Girona. Barcelona is only 92 kilometers away, and at the airport you can rent a car, order a taxi, or get to the capital of Catalonia by public transport - buses run regularly and high speed trains. It is from Girona Airport that it is most convenient to get to such famous resorts Costa Bravo like Blanes, Tossa de Mar, Lloret de Mar and Playa de Aro. More and more tourists are interested in the resorts of the Costa del Maresme, where it is also most convenient to get from Girona Airport. Not to mention close to ski resorts Pyrenees and Perpignan.

On the other side of Barcelona is another backup airport - Reus. Reus - small country town off the coast. It is also located near the famous resorts of the Balearic Sea, Tarragona. The distance from Reus to Barcelona is 103 kilometers. It is also easy to overcome by car or by rail.

When compiling your route, you should focus primarily on the final destination. Next, on the map, you can set the nearest airport. On the official website you can find an online scoreboard of the airport, with a flight schedule. In addition, you will need the schedule of buses and other public transport. Barcelona Airport is connected to both nearby settlements ground communications, and with any airport in Spain by regular flights.

Barcelona airport. Spain.

It has two passenger terminals - the old terminal, divided into sectors A B and C, was built for the 1992 Olympics. Due to the constant growth of passenger traffic and the increasing popularity of Catalonia among tourists, Barcelona airport as the main airport of Catalonia has been expanded. Terminal 1 Barcelona Airport was put into operation on July 16, 2009. It is located between the old terminal building and mediterranean sea. Remote from communication lines, terminal 1 received its own entrance from the side of the highway. In addition, there is a free shuttle bus from Terminal 2 and the train station. In plan, the new terminal resembles an airliner. Built according to the cutting-edge design of the architect Ricardo Beaufil, the terminal has a dynamic and clear form. Interior spaces spacious and well lit. The building is symmetrical, which partly simplifies orientation inside. The operating room and the pier for receiving aircraft are placed under one soaring roof. The terminal is designed to receive up to thirty million passengers a year.

In addition to cafes, restaurants and bank branches, passengers may be interested in a place to relax, or a hotel where you can stay if your flight is delayed. Thanks to the hoteldiscount system, you can book a room in one of the Barcelona airport hotels, credit cards are accepted for payment. One of the Barcelona airport hotels is the BEST WESTERN ALFA AEROPUERTO hotel. So if you have to long wait departure, it makes sense to rent a room in one of these hotels. Details such as free shuttles, swimming pool, sauna, fitness center and restaurant contribute to a pleasant pastime.

Luggage and personal belongings can be left in the luggage room for the duration of your stay. It makes sense. If you want to visit the city between flights. Quite a logical decision - the road to the center will take no more than half an hour, and luggage will only interfere. Luggage Storage Barcelona Airport located in terminal T2, namely, in sector B. There is a scanner at the entrance to the storage room - precautionary measures. The cells are quite roomy and vary depending on your luggage. In general, a medium-sized suitcase can be accommodated without problems for 5 euros.

You can find a left-luggage office by following the signs, looking at airport map. In any case, you can always resort to the help desk, where an English-speaking employee will help you.

You can also get to the city from Barcelona Airport, in addition to the special Aerobus express train, by a regular city bus number 46. This is true if you do not have a lot of luggage with you, or you left it in the luggage room. In this case, you need to check the schedule of buses to Barcelona airport in order not to miss your flight. Bus number 17 flies to the airport at night, making stops both at terminal 2 and the new terminal. Keep in mind that the distance between the terminals on the external route is greater than if you used the internal shuttle bus, and this will affect the travel time.

Number of impressions: 19311

In Barcelona, I suddenly blew up, grabbing a ticket on sale from Ryanair. True, from Tallinn, but it turned out to be very, very inexpensive, even taking into account buses from St. Petersburg to the capital of Estonia and from Girona airport to destination destination.

Strictly speaking, the main air harbor of Barcelona is, of course, El Prat. Girona-Costa Brava Airport is mainly used by low-cost airlines and charters: in summer - on the Catalan coast, in winter - on ski resorts Pyrenees. It has only one terminal, which does not shine with architectural beauties or any special level of service. Nevertheless, everything a traveler needs is there: ATMs, currency exchange offices, duty-free shops, cafes, and a car rental agency office. Those who do not drive can easily get to Barcelona and other cities in the vicinity by public transport - buses from Sagales, Sarfa and TEISA. Distance to the capital of Catalonia - 90 km, drive a little more than an hour. Not that far, in fact, in some cities the main airports are not much closer. True, a one-way ticket costs as much as 16 euros, which is a little expensive even by Spanish standards, but from the window you can admire very beautiful views- villages, picturesquely perched on the slopes of the mountains.

What else did you like about the airport:

  • it is small and cozy. It is impossible to get lost and lost even for a novice traveler;
  • there are fewer people than at large airports, respectively, all pre-flight procedures are completed much faster;
  • free and unlimited Wi-Fi, which is rare for low-cost harbors.

However, I would not recommend spending the night at this airport. Well, unless you are afraid of being placed in a sleeping bag on the floor.

It is international and one of the most big airports in Europe. In terms of passenger traffic, it is in second place in Spain, and the largest in Catalonia.

The municipality of El Prat de Llobregat is where Barcelona Airport is located, impressive for its scale and number of services provided. Barcelona Airport is located 10 km southwest of the center of Barcelona, a couple of years ago, more than 35 million people passed through the gates of embarkation and disembarkation. Most major airport Spain is located in Madrid, and in terms of the number of passengers, this airport is one of the largest in the world, but after the opening of a high-speed railway line between cities, part of the load has moved to Barcelona.

Changes at Barcelona airport follow the changes in the world - everything is modern and the best here. Barcelona Airport opened a new terminal in 2009 huge area, called T1 and built by the architect Ricardo Beaufil. Today international Airport Barcelona has three runways length from 2540 meters to 3352 meters, two - asphalt and one concrete.

Several airlines operate from Barcelona Airport. Some of them are Vueling Airlines, Spanair, Air Europa and Iberia Airlines. Passenger transportation is next to cargo.

The infrastructure of Barcelona airport will make your stay very comfortable, there are several VIP zones (admission costs 25 euros), hotels, two police departments, cafes and restaurants. In addition, there is a chapel in the T1 terminal, an object that is just beginning to appear in Russian airports.

Barcelona Airport: Terminals T1 and T2

Barcelona Airport today has two terminals - T1 and T2. The second appeared much earlier and consists of three sectors: A, B, C.
