Passport and customs control at the airport. Check-in at the airports proceeds according to the usual plan. The procedure for passing border control

Passport control is one of the checks that all passengers of any airport are subjected to. This event is most carefully held for passengers of international destinations.

To pass, each passenger must have a passport and valid documents confirming the right to enter or exit the territory of the Russian Federation. At passport control, airport employees check only the legality of being in Russia. The rest of the checks for the availability of permits and visas for traveling abroad are carried out by the airline's employees.

Required documents for citizens of the Russian Federation

In order to prepare for passport control, you need to take with you one of the documents proving the identity of a citizen of the Russian Federation:

  1. Passport of the Russian Federation (for domestic flights) or international passport(for international).
  2. Military ID.
  3. Service passport.
  4. Diplomatic passport.
  5. Seaman's identity card.

Attention! Minor citizens can leave the territory of Russia only accompanied by one of their parents, guardians or adoptive parents. At the same time, a citizen can pass passport control both according to your international passport and according to the document of the parent, if his data is entered there accordingly. At the same time, if the period of stay abroad exceeds 3 months, then the consent to leave must be approved by the guardianship authorities. The Domodedovo airport administration also recommends that you carry a child's birth certificate with you.

Required documents for foreigners

Foreigners who do not have Russian citizenship can enter and leave the country only if they have the appropriate visas issued for valid documents. As soon as foreign citizen arrives in Russia, he needs to fill out a migration card. It is kept with him throughout his stay in Russia and is rented out when traveling abroad. This document and visas can be issued at the consular offices of the Russian Federation in the country of a foreign citizen.

Airport controls

In order to get to passport control, you need to go through a number of other checks:

  1. After everything Required documents collected, and the passenger has already arrived at the airport in advance, it is necessary to go through security at the entrance. After the passenger will pass through, inside there will be several points with metal detection frames and conveyors with X-rays for luggage. When it's your turn, place all suitcases and bags, including hand luggage, on the belt, and put your phone and other pocket items on the table. Go through the metal detector point and when the employees report that everything is in order, pick up your things and go on.

  2. Now go to the scoreboard, which is located on the right immediately after the security control. On it you can see the number of the check-in desk for your flight. Go to the counters, look for yours and after the queue, go through the registration procedure. To do this, present your ticket and ID, after verification you will be given boarding pass. Sometimes the visa is also checked during the registration process. Place your luggage on the scales, after checking it will leave for luggage compartment aircraft.

  3. Pre-flight screening involves checking for the transport of prohibited items. To pass it, you need to remove outerwear, watches, jewelry, belts, if they have metal inserts. The procedure for passing border control

In order not to wait in lines, it is recommended to arrive at the airport early, at least 2.5 hours before the departure time of the aircraft. After registering for a ticket at the airline counter on the first floor, passengers go to the second floor. There, after passing through the customs counters, you can go to the passport control booths, or go down the escalator to the booths on the first floor. There are some booths in Domodedovo that say "For Russian citizens / For Russian citizens". These cabins are made specifically for those who have Russian citizenship. All other cabins are for any passengers of any nationality.

On a note! The passport control procedure takes only a few minutes, however long lines often take time.

  1. When it's your turn, you need to go to the counter. If you are flying with your family, you still need to approach one at a time. Children must be accompanied by their parents or guardians.
  2. Give your passport and boarding pass to the border guard. Most often, documents with a stamp on leaving the country are immediately returned to the passenger.
  3. Employee border control may ask you some questions. For example, “what is the purpose of the trip?”, “do you have another passport?”, “how long are you leaving?”. You should not be afraid, such questions are asked regularly and this does not mean at all that the border guards considered your documents suspicious. Just answer all questions as is.
  4. One of the procedures at passport control is checking your debts on taxes and fines.

Attention! If you are flying in transit with a transfer, you will not need to go through passport control again. All you need to do is get a new boarding pass. In the vast majority of cases, upon check-in at Domodedovo, you will be given two boarding passes for both flights at once.

Subtleties of passport information

A person wishing to go through passport control undertakes to provide one of the following documents proving his identity:

  • international passport;
  • diplomat's passport;
  • official passport;
  • special passport of a sailor;
  • certificate of return to Russia.

A subject of any foreign power entering the territory Russian state, as well as when traveling, undertakes to provide employees border service valid documents. Special attention given to the validity period of the passport.

Crossing the border by a minor

To go through passport control with a minor in 2019, you will need to prepare in advance. Otherwise, the passenger may face serious troubles.

If minor accompanied by both parents, then his data must be entered in the passport of the father or mother. If the child is already 5 years old at the time of the trip, you must provide a high-quality photograph of him.

If the father and mother have different surnames, then you must have his birth certificate with you.

The situation looks somewhat different when a child goes to a foreign rendezvous only with his father or mother. In this case, at the airport, you must provide not only a birth certificate, but also. The permission must be notarized.

The permit must contain information about the country to which the child is traveling. It is also necessary to indicate the period of time during which the minor will be outside the Russian state.

When a child travels abroad unaccompanied, then, in addition to a passport, he will need to present an authorization document to leave from his father and mother. This permission must also be certified by a notary.

Memo when exercising control

The procedure for passing through passport control begins when the passenger has already checked in for the flight, checked in his luggage and received a boarding pass. You need to move to the right side of the registration desks. Goal number one is the stairs that lead to the second floor. Having risen there, the passenger finds himself in the passport control zone.

The rules for passing control at the airport in 2019 are the same for everyone. They are as follows:

  • having risen to the 2nd floor, you need to select a post and stand in line;
  • when the queue comes up, you need to show your passport to the border guard (along with an identity document, you should provide a boarding pass);
  • get a passport and follow to the neutral zone.

You don't have to get close to the post. You need to timely pay attention to the red line before the post. It is important to understand that this line marks Russian border. A person who violates the border has every chance of being in the place of a hero from a wonderful Soviet film"Passport".

Many are embarrassed by the intent, "studying" look of the border guards. Do not be embarrassed and turn your face away. The border guard simply compares the face he sees in front of him with the picture in the passport.

Sometimes border guards ask passengers questions. Most often, passengers are interested in where they received their passport and who accompanies them on the trip. Answer questions calmly, without nerves. If a border officer is confused by one or another detail in the provided foreign passport, he may ask to present a general passport.

If the traveler has a second passport, then it makes sense to take him to the airport as well. If traveling abroad is tourist visa, then you must additionally have a paid tourist voucher or other document indicating the point of arrival.

In addition, it is advisable to have tickets to reverse side. The date of departure home must precede the expiry date of the visa.

Latest innovations

Many metropolitan airports V Lately began to actively introduce new passport control technologies. Modern technologies assume automated control when crossing the border. According to the city authorities, this innovation helps to speed up the passage of all relevant formalities.

Today, only those Russians who have biometric foreign passports can appreciate the benefits of this know-how.

Thanks to this innovation, the passenger gets rid of the need to communicate with a border guard officer. To carry out the necessary procedure, he will only need to attach his passport to the scanner. After that, the traveler is allowed to pass through the turnstile.

In other countries, smart cards are used for this procedure. It is also customary to use special systems to recognize faces in a three-dimensional image. The same systems allow for identification based on fingerprints and other anatomical features. Identification is carried out even on the basis of the iris of the passenger's organs of vision.

The automated system of the largest Russian airport Sheremetyevo has successfully passed test operation. Not so long ago, two booths were installed in Terminal E, assuming only automated service. The example of Sheremetyevo was followed by another major Russian airport - Domodedovo.

Air travelers who travel for the first time in their lives are wondering how to fly by plane, what are the rules and nuances. Although this is not difficult, in order to feel more confident, it is better to stock up on the necessary knowledge and advice on the eve of the flight.

The step-by-step instruction, up to the end of the journey, has several strictly sequential steps:

  • check-in;
  • baggage check-in;
  • security screening;
  • passport control;
  • waiting for boarding;
  • boarding the liner;
  • flight;
  • passport control at the destination airport;
  • baggage claim and exit.
Important! Complete stages are completed only when performing international flights. On domestic flights the order is simplified. In particular, there is no border control of passports.

check-in

To describe how the boarding of the plane takes place step by step, you need to start with registration. So, if a passenger can say to himself: “This is my first time flying on an airplane,” then he already knows that he must arrive at the airport. At the same time, in major cities there may be several airports and terminals. The name of the airport and the terminal number are indicated on the ticket, which must be carefully examined.

Having reached the airport, you need to find an electronic scoreboard in its hall, which contains information about flights departing in the near future. Usually the scoreboard is placed near the entrance in a conspicuous place. The English version of the name is "Departures". To find your way, you need to look for your flight number in the list, then its current status along the line.

Important! You cannot navigate by the destination airport and departure time. Different flights may fly to the same city, and times sometimes change.

State Meaning Passenger actions
Check-in, check-in open, open Registration in progress. You can go to the registration desks, the numbers of which are indicated right there. Usually there are several.
Delayed The flight is delayed. Here are the hours of the expected departure. But these are not registration opening hours, it will start earlier. If the time of the delayed departure does not appear, you need to go to the airline counter to find out more information.
Canceled Flight cancellation. Contact the representative office of the airline, they may offer to fly on another flight.
Empty column Check-in is not yet open due to the early arrival of the passenger. Wait at the airport until check-in opens.
Boarding Boarding has begun. Registration completed. The passenger can contact the representatives of the airline. Some airports have counters for late arrivals. But there is no guarantee that you will still be able to get on the plane.

There are three options for registration:

  • at the registration desk;
  • in the terminal for self-registration;
  • over the Internet from home.

Check-in at the airport

At the indicated check-in counters, the passenger presents his ticket with a passport. Sometimes when international flights check the presence of a visa of the country of destination, may be asked to present a return ticket, and even bank card used for payment travel document. Procedure for check-in and boarding electronic ticket is no different. The only difference is that at the registration desk it is enough to show your passport without presenting a ticket.

After that, the passenger will be given a boarding pass, which contains important information:

  • boarding gate number (Gate);
  • place in the cabin of the liner;
  • landing hours.
Important! The start time of registration procedures at the airport is 3 hours before departure, the end time is 40 minutes before the departure of the aircraft.

Passengers in transit are also issued a boarding document for a connecting flight.

The second way to check in at the airport is at the self check-in machine. It is necessary to find the terminal of the airline with which the air traveler flies. It looks like mobile phone bill payment terminals and other services, only the airline logo will be on the device. There, the surname, ticket code are entered step by step, you may need to scan your passport, then you are asked to select a seat. The boarding pass will be automatically printed with the same information as the one issued at the check-in counters.

Through the Internet

Online registration is available even on mobile phone. It opens in different time from different air carriers. At least a day before the departure of the aircraft, and for some companies - 1 month. On the website of the air carrier, you need to find the “Check-in” button or tab and gradually enter the ticket code, personal data, and select the seat you like. The process ends with the printing of the boarding pass.

You can also print your boarding pass at the electronic terminals of the airport or ask at the check-in counter.

Important! Any way electronic registration not suitable for travelers flying with animals, accompanying the disabled. According to the rules of individual air carriers, it is impossible to check in at the terminals with children under the age of two.

Baggage check-in and hand luggage

Luggage is left at the check-in counters, regardless of the check-in method. For passengers who have already checked in online, there are special baggage drop desks - "Drop off", where suitcases are accepted according to an accelerated procedure. With the usual method of check-in at the counters, baggage is also accepted at the same time. Suitcases will be weighed and tagged. The baggage receipt is also issued to the passenger. Often it is pasted on the boarding pass. It can be used to identify your suitcase. Then the baggage will be sent for loading onto the aircraft along the conveyor belt.

Baggage allowance must be clarified when purchasing a ticket. Hand luggage is also weighed, tagged and returned to the passenger. As a rule, its weight should not exceed 5-8 kg.

What you need to do to avoid problems when checking in your baggage:

  1. Weigh the suitcase and if its weight exceeds the norm, shift individual items into hand luggage without violating the baggage rules.
  2. Learn in advance the rules for transporting fragile and oversized cargo that must be securely packaged. In this case, you may need to independently carry oversized baggage to another counter - "Oversized baggage desk".

security screening

At Russian airports, passport control is usually carried out first, then security screening. In many foreign airports, the opposite is true: security is examined first.

Screening before the flight is a thorough check by airport employees of the personal belongings of the passenger - what is with them and in hand luggage. Outerwear, often shoes, belts, watches must be removed and placed on a conveyor belt that will carry them through the scanning machine. The passenger himself is sent to pass through the frame of the metal detector.

  1. Take plastic containers, put bags, clothes and other things there, place them on a conveyor belt.
  2. Check if you have with you - liquids in vessels exceeding a volume of 100 milliliters, stabbing and cutting objects and others. All this is packed into luggage, handed over at the check-in counters. Baby food and vital medicines are carried as an exception.
  3. A passenger with a pacemaker alerts a security officer. He will be searched in person by a worker of the same gender without going through a metal detector.
Important! During the security screening, the passenger must be as serious as possible. Remember that jokes about bombs, weapons, etc. can be taken as a reason to take him off the flight.

International flights

The main difference between pre-flight screening on international flights is the passage of customs control. If the passenger does not carry with him items subject to customs declaration, he goes through the "green corridor".

If there is cash currency (or rubles) in the amount equivalent to 10 thousand US dollars, valuables, etc., according to the rules of transportation, a declaration is filled in the "red corridor" of the customs.

Important! It is obligatory to fill in the declaration before check-in for the flight.

Passport control

Border control of passports is carried out for international flights. It is usually labeled "Passport control". Here you need to show the border officer your passport with a boarding pass. He will check the document against the database: does the air traveler have obstacles to leaving the country. Then he will put a stamp there about the place and date of crossing the border.

departure zone

There are cafes, restaurants, shops in the departure waiting area. duty free", but first you need:

  1. Find your boarding gate (Gate). His number is sometimes changed. This is announced over the loudspeaker and duplicated on information stands.
  2. Remember the location of your Gate and then walk around the pre-flight area, remembering to return strictly to the time indicated in the boarding document (Boarding time).

Landing

When boarding begins, the required Gate will display the flight number and the name of the destination airport. The passenger must make sure that this is their flight and show their passport with a boarding pass at the exit. The larger side of the ticket will be torn off, the other side must be kept until arrival at final destination and receiving suitcases.

There are two ways to get on the plane:

  • they are taken by bus to the liner, where they climb the ladder;
  • pass through the telescopic "sleeve" directly into the aircraft.
Important! If delivery to the plane is made by bus, it is beneficial not to rush, but to go at the end. The apron bus will be waiting for all passengers. When landing through the “sleeve”, it is better to go first and calmly find your seat.

On board the aircraft, the flight attendants will show you where the passenger seat is. Personal items are stored in the luggage rack above the seat. If there is no space in the luggage rack above your seat, you can use other shelves.

Now that the check-in and boarding is complete, it's time to enjoy your air travel.

Flight

While on board the liner, you must follow general rules and instructions received on the plane:

  • fasten seat belts when required;
  • do not get up from your seats during takeoff and landing, getting into turbulence zones;
  • no smoking, etc.

Depending on the level of service, breakfast, lunch or dinner, drinks will be offered. If this is a low-cost airline, then for additional fee. On board there are newspapers, magazines, sometimes monitors with video entertainment, blankets, kits for children.

Important! During takeoff and landing, it can block the ears. Lozenges or chewing gum can help relieve discomfort.

Passing control upon arrival

After the completion of the flight, if it was international flight, there are three types of procedures for obtaining permission to cross the border:

  • visa on arrival;
  • filling out an immigration card;
  • passport control.

Visa on arrival

At the airports of those countries where a similar procedure is provided for Russians, you need to go directly from the plane to the “Visa on arrival” counters. Then - the usual control of passports.

Filling out an immigration card

For states that require a completed immigration card from every foreigner, its form is most often issued on board the liner at the end of the flight. Filled in on English language indicating the purpose of the visit to the country, the time of stay, the address of the hotel or apartment, the number of the arriving flight, etc. Forms can also be obtained after leaving the plane, near special counters next to passport control.

Passport control

In a number of countries, the passenger immediately goes to Passport control. Here, a foreign passport with a boarding pass and a visa (obtained in advance or upon arrival), an immigration card (if required) are presented. An airport employee checks the documents, puts a mark in the passport about crossing the border. Sometimes, in accordance with the rules of entry into the country, you will be asked to present return tickets, medical insurance and so on.

Important! Foreigners should queue up at the Foreign Passports or All Passports counters.

Receipt of baggage

Following the signs "Baggage" or "Luggage", the passenger goes to the baggage conveyors. On the information board big airports the number of the arrived flight and the number of the baggage carrier will be indicated. If there are doubts about the belonging of the suitcase, the numbers of the luggage tag and those issued to the passenger at check-in are checked.

Oversized baggage is issued at separate counters.

Important! If the passenger has items subject to customs declaration, he passes through the "red corridor" of customs. The rest go through the "green".

Transfer at a transit airport

Flights can be operated with connections on one ticket. A passenger who has received a boarding pass for the next flight at the airport of departure should follow the signs to the transfer zone (Transfer).

  1. There is no need to receive luggage upon arrival at the intermediate airport, it will be reloaded onto another airliner.
  2. If the first plane is late, you need to contact the counter where transfer passengers are registered. There you will be asked to take the next flight.
  3. For Schengen states, passport control is only mandatory if the intermediate and final destination is in the Schengen countries.
  4. If the boarding pass is not issued at the airport of departure, it is received at transit zone intermediate airport. You just have to go to the counter transfer passengers with ticket and passport.
  5. You need to wait for your flight in the transit zone, which is also the departure zone, with cafes, restaurants and shops.
Important! When transferring at airports in some countries (for example, the USA), it is required transit visa, and passengers are forced to receive luggage.

When two separate tickets for a connecting flight are purchased, different rules apply:

  1. At the point of departure, check-in is only possible for one flight.
  2. Upon arrival at the intermediate airport, you must go through passport control and collect your luggage. Then the check-in and boarding procedure is repeated in full with the second ticket. Sometimes you will need to move to a nearby terminal or even to another airport.
  3. If you are late for the next flight, the ticket will be lost.

It is better for a passenger flying on an airplane for the first time, if possible, to choose a flight without transfers or with a connection on one ticket.

Important! Never put documents, money and plastic cards in your checked baggage.

So you are ready for a lot of new and interesting experiences, let's start registration. Moreover, you can check in at the airport in two ways, this is online registration and registration in the old way.

Option 1 - online check-in at the airport:
All more airlines offer online check-in. It can be passed at any time during the day before departure and at least one hour before scheduled departure, without arriving at the airport. In this case, you can register from any computer with Internet access. All passengers can go through online check-in: flying with or without luggage, with a group or with children, regardless of whether they are flying economy or business class. To go through online check-in, you need to open the airline's website, find the tab that says online - check-in and click on it. Then fill in, usually this:

Number electronic ticket or booking code
- departure airport
- name and surname of the passenger
- departure date

After entering the necessary information for check-in, the system will generate a boarding pass, which must be printed out (this will be the document that must be presented at the airport at the exit when boarding the plane). At the airport, for online registered passengers, you need to check in your luggage at a special counter and not stand in a huge general queue, and if you fly only with hand luggage, then immediately go to the security screening and passport control.

Option 2 - regular registration:
You decide to use the traditional check-in form upon arrival at the airport. Check-in for a flight opens as a standard three hours before departure and closes 50 minutes before scheduled departure. The pioneers need to arrive 2 or 3 hours early, this will avoid the hustle, haste, anxiety, confusion and unrest. The time of departure and arrival on air tickets is always indicated only local. This should be kept in mind when preparing for a trip. Otherwise, you can miss the plane or even disrupt the trip.

Check-in at the airport in the usual way with a queue

When entering the airport, you need to go through the metal detector gate, luggage will be scanned on a self-propelled tape - this goes quickly. Inside the airport there is a scoreboard (information monitor) with departures. It says Departures in English - departures. In the printout of an electronic ticket, we find the flight number Flight (for example UN777), the city of destination and on the scoreboard we find our flight. Once again we specify the direction and remember the number of the check-in counter, where they will exchange the ticket for a boarding pass, which is a pass for the plane. Note - if you arrive too early, your flight may not be shown on the board yet.

Approaching the check-in desk, you show your passport, ticket and voice your wishes regarding the seat on the plane (at the aisle, at the emergency exit, at the window, etc.) Taking into account your wishes and possibilities, you will be given a ticket with seat. Then they will weigh and take your luggage. Both luggage and tickets will be labeled with a number. Make sure your baggage is labeled with your name and flight number, and your ticket has a baggage receipt.

The boarding pass contains important information - the date and time of departure, flight number, landing time, exit number of the boarding area (Gate) and most importantly, the number of your seat in the cabin. The landing time will be repeatedly repeated over the speakerphone at the airport. Loud and clear every 10-15 minutes.

With your passport and boarding pass, go to the customs inspection area. This is the most meticulous check before boarding. Customs control is recognized to find out if you have antiques, large sums of money, drugs, weapons, excise goods and so on. You must declare this on your customs declaration. Therefore, before passport control, fill out a customs declaration if you have something to declare, if not, a declaration is not required.

For the convenience of passengers in international airports two types of border crossings: green And red corridors. You choose the corridor yourself. 99 percent of tourists have nothing to declare, so you can freely go through the green corridor.

Customs officers have the right to ask you to present your luggage for inspection, but this is an extremely rare practice. Therefore, before passport control, they fill out a customs declaration if there is something to declare, if not, a declaration is not required. Then you need to go to the passport control area. The border guard will check your boarding pass and passport.

After passport control, you need to go through a personal inspection. When passing through security, you must present your passport, boarding pass and ticket. Aviation security staff will tell you what to do. Attention! If you have implanted devices, do not enter the area of a stationary metal detector. First, contact the aviation security inspector and explain your situation to him.

Once you pass through security, you will be taken to the boarding lounge. Now you can relax and stroll around the waiting room, buy souvenirs and wait for the boarding announcement. After the announcement, you need to go to the exit indicated in the boarding pass and present this pass to the attendant. All you need is a boarding pass and possibly another passport. Airports with heavy traffic sometimes do not announce the start of boarding. Therefore, you should always remember about the landing time and at the specified time go to the desired exit (Gate) on your own. Boarding the aircraft takes place either by bus or through a special accordion connecting the aircraft to the terminal building.

After landing at the airport, you go through the same procedures as when landing. First, passport control: the border guard will check your passport, boarding pass, visa or entry permit. Then get your luggage and go through customs control. If your luggage is not found or it is damaged, you must contact the airport employee (Lost and found).

To see nothing complicated, even if you first time at the airport.

Fly with pleasure!
