Traveling to Italy: travel tips. Tourist encyclopedia: general information about Italy

Italy is seascapes, ancient cities with narrow streets, delicious cuisine, mountain ranges, azure sea, hot sun and much more.

It is worth at least once to come to Italy and you will never be able to forget it. All these factors contribute to the prosperity of tourism in this country. After all, it is in Italy that there are beaches and resorts that are considered the best in Europe. .

What tourists need to know when traveling to Italy

Of course, in Italy there are many nuances regarding the life of Italians, and which, in my opinion, every tourist needs to know.

Italian lifestyle

The expression "piano-piano" (piano-piano) literally translates "slowly-slowly". This expression can characterize almost all spheres of life of Italians. They are never really in a hurry or in a hurry.

Everything must be consistent and nothing must violate them. habitual rhythm of life. This is fundamentally different from what we are used to in the CIS countries. And no tourists will be able to influence the cancellation (for example) of a siesta. Which in the summer is quite justified because of the heat. Well, what about in winter?

Many face the expression drunk-drunk when they decide to make repairs or when obtaining some kind of documents in the local municipality. Therefore, the main thing in such cases is patience.

Dialects

Arriving at any italian city, you rarely hear literary Italian language, as a rule, in all regions of Italy they speak dialects characteristic of this particular region, and even the city.

There are even cases when Italians, accustomed to speaking their own dialect, hardly understand each other (or do not want to understand). As I said, I live in Calabria and many Neapolitans come here for summer rest. So Calabrians often speak of the Neapolitan dialect not very positively. The same can be said about relation of northerners to southerners. who believe southern part Italy is provincial and backward. With which, in principle, one can agree, having visited at least once in some mountain town.

The shops

At lunchtime, you will rarely meet Italians on the street, because meal for them "holy". In Italy, specialized stores are very common: a butcher's shop (machelleria), a bread shop (panifichyo), and vegetables.

I would also like to say a few words about open markets, they can be found in any town in Italy, some are open every day, others open only once a week or once a month, or even once a year. In such markets, as a rule, you can find anything for a small price, but to be honest, often not of very good quality.

Breakfast

Morning meal for Italians can be called a ritual. Most of them consider it their duty to go to a bar and have breakfast with a delicious hot croissant or as it is called in Italy - cornetto (cornetto or croissant) and drink a cup of real or cappuccino.

The assortment of croissants in bars is approximately the same, the most common fillings are jam, chocolate, white chocolate, cream, nutella. For those who do not like sweets, some bars even offer hot cornet with ham and. Important nuance, but which I personally ignore is that drinking cappuccino (or other hot drinks with the addition of milk), say, after 11.00, and even more so in the evening, is considered “bad” taste. Because, according to the logic of the Italians, Hot milk just for breakfast. Although this does not apply to "clean" coffee. And if you want a croissant after dinner, then most likely it will be morning or you will not be able to find it at all. .

Expressways (toll freeways)

All highways in Italy are paid. If speak about southern Italy The only exception is the section of the road from Salerno to Sicily, as work is still underway on the construction of the highway. Soon this part of the motorway will also be paid.

May holidays experience

Spring in Venice is a holiday for those who want not only to swim in the Adriatic Sea, but also to see the city. At the end of May in Venice there is already an excellent sunny weather. But it is not yet so hot that it would be tiring to walk around this extraordinary city. And it hasn't started yet beach season, so there are still very few people on the beaches of Lido Island. I think this is the perfect time to relax in Venice.

What to take with you on vacation?

We loaded our suitcase with warm clothes just in case. But on the trip they were not used at all. Not even a cloudy day. I advise you to take something light with long sleeves so that your hands do not get burned during long walks. Most time in Venice is still spent by the water, whether you're on the beach or in the city. Gondola ride on Grand Canal under the rays of the May sun, we added bright colors on the body.

Where is the best place to stay?

If the budget allows, of course, it is better to settle in Venice itself. Our budget was not so big, we chose accommodation on the mainland, in Venetto. The cost of water transport, even if you take a ticket for the day, is still less than the cost of hotels on the island. It was possible to settle on the most beach of the islands of the Venetian lagoon - Lido. But for us he was too melancholy and slow, some kind of pensioner.

What to do at the resort?

The Venetian Lagoon is very unusual place. Many famous and not so famous islands can be visited using vaporetto, local water transport. It's not as elegant as a gondola, but very comfortable and inexpensive. We bought a ticket for the day. And we rode as much as we wanted between the islands, along the Grand Canal, on which we got to the place of our hotel.

An obligatory excursion in Venice is a gondola ride along the canals. This is not a cheap pleasure. The standard price is 100 euros, you can bargain. We got 80 for two. If you find yourself a company in a boat, you can divide this amount by four. But it's already so romantic. The walk is quite short. The Grand Canal will only be quite a bit, mostly rolled along small canals. And not for long, about 20 minutes, no more.

To get to the beaches of the Venetian lagoon, you need to get to the Lido island. One of its shores is endless sand beach washed by the waters of the Adriatic Sea. The beach itself did not make any special impression on me: umbrellas, sun loungers, changing cabins. Everything is somehow normal. And the sand on the beach is not white. But clean.

There are few people on the beach in May. Most of those present simply sunbathe on sun loungers, play ball, do not climb into the sea. Of course, we took a dip, but the water was not yet warm enough to make it comfortable to swim.
