What is interesting in Pattaya. Family vacation in Pattaya. Aquarium Underwater World Pattaya

People do not go to Pattaya for sightseeing, but this does not mean that there is nowhere to go and there is nothing to visit.

Quite the opposite, in addition to the sea, sun and massage parlors, there are a number of unique places like nowhere else.

What to see in Pattaya?

The sights of Pattaya are different for everyone, their list depends on why the tourist goes to this resort. But there are also those that will be interesting to see for everyone, regardless of preferences in recreation or age.

Definitely worth a visit following places:

  1. Lookout platforms.
  2. Temple Big Buddha.
  3. Entertainment Street - Walking Street.
  4. Orchid garden in Nong Nooch.

All this can be seen in Pattaya on your own. For the convenience of finding interesting places, a map of Pattaya in Russian will be enough, which can be purchased at any tourist stall, at any hotel, or simply downloaded from the Internet and printed.

Google Maps/ google.ru

Now many people prefer to use maps online or downloaded and available on tablets, but this is not very convenient, because not everywhere in Thailand there is a stable Internet and not at every step there are electrical outlets for recharging gadgets.

Lookouts

Any platform for a panoramic view can be high building, but on the map of Pattaya there are two recommended for visiting, fully equipped observation decks located on the same hill.

Hill Khao Phra Tam Nak, a platform near the inscription PATTAYA-CITY

"Neighbor" of the hill with the Big Buddha. From here, from a height of 98 meters, a beautiful view of the city itself, its embankment, beaches and the bay will open.

There is also a huge, glowing in the dark inscription - PATTAYA, designed in the style of HOLLYWOOD letters. There is also a monument to the founder of the Thai fleet, whom the Thais consider a national hero. There is also a small Buddhist temple, souvenir stalls and a small cafe, where coffee will cost 60 baht, water 40 baht, and salad 38 baht.

You can climb up two stairs, one of which starts behind the lighthouse, and the other under the inscription. Or use the services of carriers, of which there are a lot at the foot of the hill.

The site is completely free and available around the clock. It is located on NaKlua street, there is not a single transport route nearby. A taxi ride here will cost between 100 and 200 baht, depending on where it starts. Tuk-tuks will ask for much less.

It is better to get here in the evening or at night, when the city and the bay are buried in lights - an unforgettable sight. You don’t have to worry about safety here, the whole hill, like big park below it, fully monitored by video cameras around the clock, in this place in Thailand, crime is zero.

Hill Khao Phra Tam Nak, site next to the radio station

This vantage point is one level higher, going up to it, you will need to pass the temple and the local radio station. Usually, tourists do not get to it, although panoramic views are better from here.

Local cats also live here, which have become the hallmark of the hill and sites, there is also a box for collecting donations - it is customary to leave 25-30 baht.

You should not climb this site at dawn and early in the morning - instead of beautiful views, a tourist will be met by fog, which is not very interesting to look at.

Big Buddha Temple

Buddha Hill, marked on the free maps of Pattaya with attractions lying in every supermarket, as Buddha Hill crowns it huge statue.

Dean Croshere/flickr.com

The Buddha was erected in 1977 from concrete and at first it was white. But due to the fact that during the rains and simply because of the humidity, the statue often dampened, turning gray, the Buddha was repainted. Now it shimmers with gold, which is especially beautiful at sunset.

A staircase of 120 steps leads to the deity with a height of 15 m and a width of 10 m, guarded by mythical snakes, whose faces greet travelers at the beginning of the ascent.

In addition to the giant god, there are other Buddhas here:

  • Buddhas of the week - seven statues, patrons of individual days.
  • The Buddha of Wealth is a fat Buddha, in the hole on the stomach of which you need to hit a coin from a couple of meters.
  • The Buddha of Sorrows is a very strange statue, the god is depicted as a man in an extreme degree of exhaustion, but with a haircut, a beard and a thoughtful downcast look.

There is also a flat stone with a “Buddha imprint”, you need to roll coins on it.

The view of the sights from here, despite the height, is very poor. You can only see well the neighboring hill and the tower with a revolving restaurant.

3.bp.blogspot.com

There are also a number of paid services here, the most popular is to release a bird into the wild. You need to make a wish and see where and how it will fly. A local worker will help with decoding. It costs 100 baht.

Since getting to this place is not very convenient, visits to the Buddha and observation platforms are usually combined. It is more convenient to start from the Buddha, because when climbing the panoramic platforms, you can stop at a cafe and relax, but there is no such opportunity on a hill with a statue.

It is also located in North Pattaya, on NaKlua, not far from the Buddha and viewing platforms. If after visiting the hills you still have strength, then it makes sense to walk through the park to this place.

The Temple of Truth will delight connoisseurs of original Thai culture, history and just lovers of everything unusual. The structure, 105 meters high, is made only of wood, there is not a single iron part in it. Every centimeter of the unique building is covered with carvings.

Construction began in 1981. The project is fully sustained not only externally, but also technically in the spirit of the buildings of the times of the Angkor Empire. The ongoing construction, which will be completed only in 2052, does not interfere with tourists at all. Moreover, the Temple of Truth is one of the most visited places in Asia by Asians themselves.

jo cool / flickr.com

Doors are open daily from 8:00 to 17:00, entrance costs 500 baht.

It is located on the shore of the bay, at the intersection of NaKlua and Soi streets.

You can only get here by taxi or by songteo, as it is often called “tuk-tuk”. A songthaew ride from Buddha Hill to the Temple of Truth will cost 10-15 baht.

With children in Pattaya, you need to go to the dolphinarium. In addition to the generally standard content for such places, the grand show Pattaya Dolphin World and Resort is held here every day, which has no analogues anywhere. Ticket price for this show:

  1. 500 baht - adults.
  2. 250 baht - for children.

Swimming with the "artists" will cost 2,500 baht, most of all, children love pink dolphins - Pacific humpbacked ones, there is always a queue for them after the performance.

In addition to watching shows in the dolphinarium, you can do:

  • fishing - the catch is guaranteed for the child;
  • riding horses and feeding them;
  • a visit to the ranch town with surprises;
  • karting;
  • fun in the water park with animators and mini-cafe;
  • shooting at the shooting range - the child is guaranteed to leave with a prize;
  • conquering a climbing hill - completely safe.

These offers are constant, in addition, various new items appear every season, the cost of attractions varies from 50 to 320 baht.

The dolphinarium waits for children and their parents daily from 9:00 to 19:00, the entrance costs 500 and 250 baht - viewing of the show program is meant.

There are restrictions on access to dolphins - visitors should not be wearing any metal objects, including fasteners, buckles, jewelry, and so on.

You can get from the center by "tuk-tuk" in just ten minutes and 15 baht, a taxi ride will be many times more expensive. There are no public transport stops here. From the center you can also walk, it will not take more than half an hour. The dolphinarium is located on Na Chom Thian street.

Walking Street is perceived by many as a street of "vice and debauchery". But this is not at all the case, it is quite possible to go here with children, and at any time of the day.

This is truly a place of entertainment where everyone will find what they are looking for. Here, street performers perform around the clock, magicians showing tricks with ice cream are especially popular with children. They also sell it.

Magicians working for an adult audience and demonstrating different tricks with cigarettes are very funny - for some reason they are all dressed as Michael Jackson. This paradox is inexplicable, because artists do not ask for money for taking pictures with them, as well as for their program. Walking down the street, you can take pictures with different versions of the pop king, which is popular not only among adults, but also among teenagers.

vishwanath hawargi / flickr.com

There are also people with different animals and birds with whom you can take pictures, but for money. Fireworks masters, sellers of balloons and many others also work on the street.

Walking Street hosts the only show in Pattaya with real venomous snakes, and sports fans will find here a large number of halls with non-stop tournaments and just Thai boxing fights, and a warning hangs in places that should not be entered with children. This applies to:

  1. Fighting in cages.
  2. Cockfights.
  3. Dog fights.
  4. Eating without rules.

Anyone can take part in such tournaments, and bets are accepted in each of the halls.

On the same street there are many small cinemas, shops, restaurants and bars. Local haberdashery is indistinguishable at a glance from what it imitates. Products under "crocodile" and "snakes" are most demanded.

Roman Lashkin/flickr.com

You can get here by any transport, to the Walking Street stop, and how much money to take with you depends on your entertainment preferences. You don’t have to pay street performers, but it’s customary to leave 10 to 30 baht for those who like it, a picture with a “monkey” will cost 20 to 50 baht, a snake show - from 80 to 150 baht, and a mug of local beer for its fans will cost 80-90 baht.

An elephant show or an elephant village is one of the places where you should definitely go with a child in Pattaya.

This place was organized in 1973 as a "nursing home" for elderly and sick animals. In addition to this village, there are several more elephant houses in Pattaya, but here is the most interesting program and the greatest "contact" opportunities. As the numerous reviews left in the “local book” in different languages tell, the most beautiful, kind and smart elephants are here.

Richard Barton/flickr.com

Elephant Village, although it belongs to the sights of Pattaya, is located 10 km from the city. The easiest way to get here is by songteo, tuk-tuk drivers know this route and ask for a little 40-60 baht for the trip.

There is a big “white” songteo that goes along the Sukhomvit highway, such a trip will cost 30 baht, but from the post marked “146 km” on the highway to Tambol Nong Prue, Moo 7, where the elephants live, you have to walk about 4 km . A taxi will cost from 200 baht and there is not much point in it, you can take a lot of beautiful pictures along the way from tuk-tuks.

The village works daily from 8:30 to 18:00, and the last tourists leave it already at the beginning of the eighth.

As for the program, then:

  • Elephant shows start from 14:00 to 14:30 and from 16:00 to 16:30, many believe that this means duration, but this is not so, for half an hour the elephants wait until all the spectators walking somewhere along the village.
  • A walk through the jungle - 3 hours - costs 2000 baht.
  • A walk through the jungle - 1 hour - will cost 1200 baht.

If time and money allow - you need to take a trip for 3 hours, it is extremely busy and its price fully pays off, there can be no talk of any fatigue from such a tour. In extreme cases, the elephant will give a trunk massage - for 150 baht to the mahout. What part of the body to massage - the elephant does not care, but for lovers of "special sensations" the service is private and costs 800 baht.

Jayel Aheram/flickr.com

It is better to go through the jungle in the morning, and after watching the show. You can’t miss it, there is something to see there, especially with children.

  1. They play football, volleyball and basketball.
  2. They drive cars.
  3. They draw and play music.
  4. They dance.
  5. Panama hats are put on the heads of the viewers they like, which are not taken from tourists.

This is just a small part of the show. You can feed the elephants right there by buying a bunch of carrots or bananas.

Entrance costs 650 baht. On the territory can come and check the tickets. If they hear Russian speech, they will definitely check it. This is due to the fact that many Russians do not consider it necessary to pay for entry, simply climbing over the fence. Tickets must be kept until leaving the village.

After visiting the elephants, it makes sense not to drive back to Pattaya, but to walk or drive to the nearby Tropical Garden - Nong Nooch Park, where you can spend the night and start exploring the park itself in the morning.

Orchid garden in Nong Nooch

The park is included in the attractions in Pattaya, although, like the elephant village, it is located outside of it.

This is a very large area, where not only various tropical plants are collected, it is a whole recreation complex that combines different styles and themes. It has its own elephant show, so many tourists save on visiting the village, although this is wrong - the shows are completely different, one cannot pass for another under any circumstances.

As on the map of Pattaya, the map of Nong Nooch shows the most interesting places, the location of kiosks, cafes, restaurants and mini-hotels, of which there are plenty. The card is included in the ticket price.

It makes sense to stay here for the night, because in the evening there is a Sky Lantern show, entertainment programs with dinner for park guests and a performance at the local theater, which is no worse than many national theaters Bangkok.

Among the main places of interest here are:

  • Pond with carps.
  • Landscapes for photo shoots, if desired, services of a photographer are provided.
  • The Garden of Versailles is the most accurate mini-copy of the original park of Versailles.
  • Dinosaur Park, not inferior to American animated attractions.
  • The ant playground is a small stage with multi-colored and different-sized figures of these insects.
  • national show- performances, consisting mainly of dances, are held on the theater veranda twice in the morning and twice in the evening.
  • The Orchid Garden is the most unique greenhouse-palace, where almost all known varieties of orchids are represented.

The greenhouse is located at a distance from the central alleys, so it is worth starting with it. Next to each flower is detailed information about him, in several languages, including Russian. In addition to botanical information, there is always some story associated with the plant.

nongnoochtropicalgarden.com

Flowers can be photographed without restrictions, poisonous orchids are behind glass, so visiting the garden is completely safe. The greenhouse is decorated accordingly, that is, with chic and as convenient as possible for visitors.

Ticket office hours are from 8:00 to 18:00. After their closure, only those who bought the evening-dinner-night tour can enter the territory and, accordingly, arrived by 18:00. No one kicks anyone out of the park, it is quite possible to linger, at least until the next morning. Many restaurants are open all night, and for lovers, a romantic walk along the local lake is offered.

The entrance fee is 800 baht, for Thai citizens - 250 baht. It is quite expensive, and you need to understand that Nong Nooch is not the park where it is appropriate to go with a small child, children under 9-10 years old are bored here.

As for excursions, it makes sense to buy them only because of the savings, the prices include entrance and transfer, and their level is 700-750 baht. There is absolutely no need for a guide on the territory, rather, he interferes, constantly urging and leading to those places that are not particularly interesting. You can not be shy and just say goodbye to the guide. But in this case, you will have to get back on your own.

Crocodile Farm

This is a large park in which everything - from playgrounds to restaurant menus - is connected with crocodiles.

In addition to crocodiles, inspecting their eggs and feeding them with a fishing rod, there is something to do here:

  1. Garden of stones and petrified trees.
  2. Excellent playground.
  3. Stores selling authentic products crocodile skin.
  4. Restaurants with dishes from crocodile meat and with rather extravagant dishes, for example, freshly hatched crocodiles drenched in jelly.
  5. Petting zoo with the world's oldest snow-white tiger.
  6. Elephant.

Ride an elephant will cost 500 baht, feed a small tiger cub - 300 baht, take a picture with one of the animals or birds - 100 baht, for the same amount you can feed a crocodile. Any of the 60 thousand individuals living here who are not too lazy to open their mouths.

The crocodile show starts every hour. Many people think that animals are under the influence of tranquilizers, in fact, they are not - they are simply overfed. This is easy to verify if you try to feed them. After the performance, you can take a picture on top of the "artist", crocodiles endure the love of the audience, often just closing their eyes.

When choosing which excursions to visit in Pattaya, this place should be left at the end of the list. The fact is that a visit to the farm is very often offered as a bonus gift or a discount of 60 to 80% is provided for it when buying another tour.

The cost of a separate excursion varies from 600 to 700 baht, but there is no particular value in it. The guide will take a long time to drive through the stone garden, and there will not be enough time for gatherings in a restaurant or sorting through the assortment in a store, as well as for many other things.

Many companies selling excursions draw the attention of tourists to the fact that Pattaya, whose sights are scattered in different places, does not transport routes to the farm. But in this case, the value of the transfer is zero, unlike Nong Nooch.

Bernard Spragg. NZ/flickr.com

The tuk-tuk driver will ask for only 20-30 baht for the trip and will take you in 10-20 minutes, and the entry prices are as follows:

  • 500 baht per adult;
  • 250 or 300 baht per child, depending on age.

The farm is located at 22/1 Moo, Nongplalai, Banglamung and is open from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm daily.

Where else can you go?

Although there are a lot of places where you can go in Pattaya at any time of the day and for any purpose, they go to this city for the sake of beaches, azure clear water and sun.

And many are surprised to find that places with beautiful photos from advertising paradise vacation in Thailand, in Pattaya simply not. The point is that these wonderful beaches are not located in the city itself, but on the islands of the bay, where boats regularly depart from Pattaya.

Jo. /flickr.com

There are many islands, but the most beautiful, clean, remote and truly like paradise is Koh Kood.

You should not think for a long time where to go for the sake of the beach, water or romance, you need to go to Koh Kood:

  1. There is practically no infrastructure.
  2. Transport is not.
  3. There are "paradise" beaches.
  4. There are waterfalls, ancient trees and a mountain that you can climb along the path and take good pictures.
  5. There is a large modern sports center and internet.

There are excellent hotels on the island itself. If the purpose of the holiday is silence, peace, sand and the azure of the sea, it makes sense to stay there, sometimes going by boat to Pattaya, choosing in advance where to go and what to see in it.

Espen Aaeng / flickr.com

Many do not go to Koh Kood because of the high cost of the road and its duration, believing that they need to take buses to Trat piers, and from there by boat or ferry to the island. Such a journey will really take at least 7-8 hours and, with the most economical option, without the cost of water, coffee and food, it will cost 950-1000 baht.

This is used by numerous travel agencies that sell two-day tours to this island for 800-900 baht.

In fact, everything can be made easier. In Pattaya, you need to find the Bali Hai pier, the one on which there are floating restaurants with specific show programs. You need to go through the pier with restaurants and walk to the piers with boats and ferries.

From here you can get to the pier in Trat by:

  • speed boat - from 300 to 350 baht;
  • on a simple slow-moving boat, it will cost 150-200 baht.

The price of tickets includes a bottle of water, there are small vending machines with drinks and snacks on the ships, you can take a nap or take stunningly beautiful pictures along the way. seascapes.

From Trat, you can get to the desired island either by ferry or by boat, that is, for 30-50 baht or 200-250 baht.

Boats usually run once an hour or two, depending on the demand for the line.

Surreal Name Given / flickr.com

But that is not all. During the season there are direct flights to Koh Kood by speedboats. The cost of the trip is 600 baht. The schedule changes, you need to look at the pier. During the peak season, boats leave every three hours, at the beginning and end of the season - less often. There are no such flights in winter.

Apart from water transport, you can negotiate with the boat owners. Such a "taxi" will cost 700-800 baht and is available all the time. Shipowners ready for transportation are located a little further than the piers with boats and ferries.

The pier itself is at the end of Walking Street.

There are a lot of places to go in Pattaya. There is a magnificent zoo and a cheap night market that people go to like a museum, and much more, although the main advantages of this city are the sea, water and sandy beaches with coconut cocktails.

This question worries a considerable number of tourists who have arrived at this resort for the first time, who are somewhat confused by the abundance of interesting objects to visit and the atmosphere of a round-the-clock holiday. After all, once a small fishing village, today Pattaya has changed beyond recognition and has become a real entertainment center designed for people of all ages and incomes.

So where should you go and what to see in Pattaya on your own? In this article I will try to briefly list the most interesting places to visit in the city and its environs. Since many aspects of recreation at the resort have already been described in sufficient detail on the site earlier, in some cases links to such descriptions will be provided, so anyone who is interested can

THE CONTENT OF THE ARTICLE (click on the link for a quick jump)

What to see in Pattaya on your own and for free

Since Pattaya is primarily a seaside resort located in the tropics, the first thing you should pay attention to is the sea. The resort is located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand of the South China Sea, which belongs to the basin Pacific Ocean. For those who are not spoiled by frequent sea voyages, even the beaches located on the territory of the city will seem very pleasant for relaxation.

A detailed description of city beaches can be found on the page. Immediately I can only advise you to choose not the Central Beach for swimming, but the beaches located in the northern part of the city and the beaches in southern region resort of Jomtien. It is there more pure water, fewer vacationers and no such noise as in the city center. All beaches in Pattaya are free, but for the use of sunbeds and umbrellas you will have to pay 40-100 baht per day (depending on the beach and distance from the water's edge).

Since the island of Koh Lan, which is located near Pattaya, has long become an integral part of this resort, you should definitely visit it. As well as city ones, which with photos and videos can be found by clicking on the link, are free to visit. Due to the fact that the water on the island is much cleaner than in the city, I recommend not to go there on the first day of your holiday in Pattaya: otherwise, you risk being very disappointed in the beaches of the city.

In addition, people usually go to the island for the whole day or most of it, which means that you can get very burned in the sun, especially if you don’t know. For a more detailed study of holidays on the island of Koh Lan (how to get from Pattaya and back as quickly or as cheaply as possible, how to get around the island, what sights you can visit there, etc.), you can read a number of articles for independent visit islands in the section.

The places that you can visit in Pattaya on your own and for free include two observation decks with excellent views of central part city and its horseshoe-shaped embankment. The location of the sites and the path to them will help you find (you need to look in the Pratamnak hill area). The first observation deck is located next to the huge letters PATTAYA-CITY, which glow on the hill with multi-colored lights and are visible from afar.

Big Buddha Hill in Pattaya beautiful staircase

On the hill next to the observation deck there is another attraction that you can see in Pattaya on your own. We are talking about the hill of the Big Buddha, where you can already understand from the name of the largest Buddha statue in the resort, to which a beautiful staircase with seven-headed dragons on the railing leads. Upstairs, in addition to the large statue, you can find several smaller Buddha statues, including one in the navel of which you need to throw a coin after making a wish. There you can make a wish and ring the bells for their fulfillment. Also interesting to visit is a beautiful park on the way to Buddha Hill and a Chinese temple complex.

Pattaya is one of the main tourist centers country, so there is nothing surprising in the fact that various festivals and mass holidays are periodically held there. Participation is usually free of charge. Often you can get to the concerts of popular Thai bands with live sound, street procession. At the end of November 2014, a grandiose international festival fireworks, which of course could be seen in the sky above central beach Pattaya is for everyone and completely free. I personally watched this spectacle both days and was greatly impressed by what I saw.

You can see in Pattaya on your own and for free, numerous city markets and shopping centers. However, it is still difficult to resist shopping, because the prices can be very pleasant, and many of the things are simply impossible to buy in other countries. In addition to traditional markets, there is an opportunity to visit the Pattaya Floating Market. His main feature in the fact that trade is carried out in houses standing on stilts. The more famous floating market in Bangkok is not up to Pattaya, but you can visit it once. Keep in mind that the entrance is paid, souvenirs and everything else is more expensive than in the city.

What to see in Pattaya for free

A separate category in Pattaya is represented by attractions that can be viewed conditionally for free. Firstly, these are mini-entertainments that are arranged for tourists by all kinds of magicians of various genres. Most often, such characters can be found on Volkin Street in Pattaya. These are funny Turkish ice cream sellers who entertain children and adults with unusual tricks with cold treats, and magicians who perform tricks with cigarettes, and other representatives of the genre.

Of course, no one will oblige you to pay for watching such tricks, but people are trying, and you can thank them for the uplifted mood). This category also includes the owners of exotic animals, which can be seen up close or photographed with those for money. I advise you to initially clarify all the details, because you can come across one when the amount agreed in advance will be required for each shot or each animal participating in the shooting. Don't forget to keep an eye on your pockets and valuables while in the crowd.

Conditionally free entertainment includes Muay Thai Thai boxing fights and shows with poisonous snakes. Both of these attractions for tourists are often held on the same Walking Street in the bars with the ring. Admission is free, but at least one drink must be ordered. For example, a beer for 80 baht (in a store this costs half as much, so the entertainment is still shareware). Also for separate fee you can take pictures with the snakes after the end of the show and with the fighters after the end of the fight. And in general, after the fight, both the winner and the defeated fighter collect money from the audience, so have small bills when going to such shows.

View in Pattaya on your own and other, more exotic shows can be conditionally free of charge. For example, those where Thai women demonstrate the amazing capabilities of their genitals by shooting darts from them at balloons, opening beer bottles, blowing out candles and pulling out multi-meter ribbons or garlands. Usually there is no entry fee for such shows, but you also have to buy an expensive drink (more precisely, an ordinary one, but at a high price) and, as usual, thank the “actresses” after their performance with small bills (take it with you). Whether or not you should go to such shows is up to you.

What to see in Pattaya on your own for money

Like any other actively developing resort, Pattaya has a large number of excursions, for which you need to pay an entrance ticket. In order not to duplicate previously published information, I will simply provide a link to an article that describes most of the objects that you can see both on your own and by ordering an organized tour. I will immediately mention only those objects that were not mentioned in the article by reference.

Being in Pattaya and having free time (and money) - be sure to visit the Sanctuary of Truth, which is located in Pattaya Naklua (in the northern part of the city, on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand). The entrance fee to the temple is 500 baht, so it makes sense to book a tour for the same money, because this way you can save on transport in Pattaya. The Temple of Truth is open to visitors from 8 am to 5 pm and is not a traditional Buddhist temple, as many initially think, but a magnificent example of the ancient Thai art of woodcarving.

Temple of Truth in Pattaya unique object architecture and art

The height of the Temple of Truth is 105 meters and it is the tallest wooden building in the world, which was erected without a single metal nail. True, now and then you can see nails driven in halfway, but they only support the structure during restoration. Outside and inside the temple is covered with magnificent wood carvings: ornaments and sculptures cover every square centimeter. According to plans, the construction will be completed only in 2052, but before and after that time the temple will need constant restoration.

Those who are planning a holiday with children in Pattaya may be interested in visiting the local dolphinarium, which regularly hosts a show of these wonderful animals called Pattaya Dolphin World and Resort. Entrance to the show is 250 baht for children and 500 baht for adults. For an additional 2500 baht you can swim with the dolphins. In general, the object is also interesting because there are other entertainments there: fishing, horseback riding and a visit to the ranch town, karting, a climbing hill, etc. Of course, each entertainment is paid extra. Hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Underwater World Pattaya - 100 meter tunnel

Another similar object that can be visit in Pattaya on your own- a local aquarium called Underwater World Pattaya. The entrance fee is 0, 300 and 500 baht for children less than 90 cm tall, children taller and adults, respectively, opening hours are from 9-00 am to 18-00 pm. It is most interesting to visit the aquarium during the feeding of fish and other inhabitants of the aquarium, which is held at 10-00, at 11-00, and at 14-00. For those who like to “tickle their nerves”, there is an opportunity to swim in the pool with sharks: an hourly pleasure will cost 3,000 baht.

In general, Pattaya is gradually turning from a once resort for single men into a classic family resort, so everyone who comes on vacation with a child will not puzzle over how to entertain him or them. Again, in order not to repeat myself, I will give a link to a previously published article. This article describes many options for entertainment for children, including attractions outside the city.

I hope that after reading this article, everyone was convinced that there is something to see in Pattaya on their own, even when relaxing there not for the first time. The main thing is that you have enough free time for all this. Well, money, of course. Have a nice holiday!

The sights of Pattaya on your own, which ones are better to visit on your own, and which ones to take an organized tour?

Excursions in Pattaya on your own, is it worth it?

There is an opinion on the forums about Thailand that it is always better to go on all the excursions on your own, that the guide only interferes and you can see more of everything.

To be honest, I don’t quite share this point of view. For example, if you decide to visit the Elephant Farm with a small child, then you can only get there by taxi. And why overpay for a taxi if the tour costs the same as the entrance ticket. Those. in fact, you will be picked up from the hotel for free and returned home - It is more profitable to take an excursion to such places.

I will add that many attractions in Pattaya have hidden places, which even long-livers do not know about, for example, almost no one knows where you can ride elephants, and you are also unlikely to find the long-necked Koren tribe yourself.

And the last point when it is worth taking an organized tour instead of an independent one is exclusive tours. So it will be very difficult for you to get to Monkey Island near Pattaya, the Oyster Farm and many other places where excursions are organized.

For the rest, I self-guided tours and a trip to the Sights of Pattaya on your own!

We tried to compile a list of which Pattaya Attractions are better to visit on your own. We highly recommend having such a list on hand if it suddenly becomes cloudy, or just in the mood to visit something new.

Khao Kheo Zoo

The zoo is a must visit! I do not advise taking a tour here, because. they pass many interesting places, i.e. with a tour you will see 50% of what is here. You are unlikely to be taken to the section to aquatic animals, where through transparent glass you can watch a swimming hippopotamus or penguins diving from the second floor, you may not even be stopped at the birdcage, where there are multi-level transitions with waterfalls and huge Toucans, you will be brought up to only one approach to the giraffe, where there is a crowd of Chinese, but they will not stop from the other side, where you can calmly admire all the animals from the Height. Highlight for Zoo better than all day and be sure to use public transport: own bike, taxi, rent an electric car at the entrance. Although at the very beginning you have to stop every 5 minutes and this is wildly annoying - then the distances increase dramatically to 5 kilometers.

Hill of the Golden Buddha

Excursions to the Golden Buddha are brought in so far as. Rather, they are simply imported to. They don’t deliver to the Beautiful Chinese Garden at all. Of course, if you take a tour, you can get free transport, because public transport does not go here. But if you eat on your own, you can visit the Golden Buddha, the Chinese Garden, the observation deck, and end the day at the chic Zucchini and Kondoma restaurant.

Aquarium Underwater World Pattaya

After the reconstruction in 2014, an excellent aquarium, I liked it much more than in Bangkok, and Pattaya costs 2 times more. If you are not spoiled by excellent oceanariums, you want to see how sharks swim above you, feed the fish from your hands, look at stingrays and much, much more - it is better to go by yourself. For the price you will not win, but you will have much more time. I spent probably 4 hours here, constantly returning to the previous halls or waiting for the next group to pass.

Nong Nooch Garden

One of the most interesting places in Pattaya! Many people come to this city just for this garden and I will tell you honestly that if you are not spoiled for travel and do not fly to Europe for the weekend, then this garden will blow your mind! It's definitely worth spending the whole day there. Nong Nooch garden is an amazing mix landscape design and inventions of the Thais. If you want to bring good photos from Thailand, then you should visit Nong Nooch Park.

Visit Nong Nooch on your own: It is located about 30 km from the city, far from the Tak-Tuk route. But at the park itself you can order a free transfer from your hotel. It will be quite interesting for children, because. there are many interactive sculptures that you can touch

Temple of Truth

One of the most famous temples in Thailand and the most famous in Pattaya! One of the Thai millionaires initially builds the Thai wonder of the world and he gets a magnificent wooden temple! The level of skill is simply amazing, so I highly recommend going there. Every hour there is a tour in Russian, but I didn’t really like it, because. a lot of "statistics" and few live stories.

Visit the Temple of Truth on your own: Getting to the Temple of Truth is quite difficult, the road goes through small lanes and with constant turns, so either take a taxi or an online map. The cafe on site is expensive and tasteless, and the entertainment is expensive, so the kids might get bored.

Miniature Park Mini Siam

A park in which the main sights of the whole world are recreated in miniature. More precisely, the park is divided into 2 parts: Sights of the world and sights of Thailand. The park is especially beautiful in the evening, when all the sights are illuminated. That is why it is better to visit the park around 17.00, so you will be able to see everything both during daylight hours and at night illumination. Also at the entrance you can take a free parasol from the sun, because. There is very little shade in the area.

Visit Mini Siam Park on your own: It is located on Sukhumvit within the city, so you can easily get there by tuk-tuk. Ice cream and excellent brewed coffee are sold on the territory, and immediately next door is McDonald's, Karting, Plant Market, Thai Fighting Arena, where real serious tournaments are held! The kids love it here!

Crocodile Farm and Million Years Stone Park

From crocodile farm I expected boring tourist place, but I was very wrong. The owners of the farm organized more than decent entertainment! Most of all I liked to feed the crocodiles with chicken from a fishing rod, crocodile steak, rock garden! Disliked: Crocodile show.
Visit the crocodile farm on your own: You can get to it only by your own transport, which is of course a minus, but I wouldn’t go here with a guide, either. groups ran past us several times. The problem with the tours is that the guide has nothing to tell - everything is a remake, and there are a lot of excursions per day, so they just run with tourists along the main route, then they give them 30 minutes to walk on their own and immediately take them away. And it’s very cool to take a walk on the farm - there are active tigers, and there is a zoo with giraffes, and large playgrounds and much more. Therefore, it is better to order a transfer, but not an excursion. Worth a visit with children, for them there is a lot of interesting things.

Three Kingdoms Park (Park of the three kingdoms)

Very nice Chinese style theme park, there is a free car park museum very close by. Here you can rent Chinese National costumes and take great photos. Overall excellent quiet place with good views.

The Three Kingdoms Park belongs to the non-tourist attractions of Pattaya, besides it is located on its outskirts, so public transport does not go here. During the winter, we really liked to come here for a walk, but if I had been in Pattaya for just a couple of weeks, I would have chosen something else.

Tiger Zoo in Si Racha

As the name implies, this is a zoo where great attention is paid to tigers. Here you can feed tiger cubs from a bottle (this is the most mi-mi-mi, all the girls are delighted), play with them in enclosures, watch a tiger show. Of course, there are other animals: elephants, piglets, and goats. Everyone can be fed and everyone can ride. Except for the cubs, the zoo is inferior to Khao Kheo, but you can go.

Go to the Si Racha Tiger Zoo on your own: Children, of course, will be interested, but there are tigers + Thai gouging. If the child behaves inappropriately, then the tiger will rush. The zoo is 40 km away. from Pattaya and 7 from the highway. (But very close to Khao Kheo).

sheep farms

For 2016, there are 2 large sheep farms in Pattaya. One is simpler, where it is pleasant to relax: you launch the children into the rabbit aviary, and you yourself are located in the shade of the trees with a delicious cocktail. The second one is more touristy - the sheep there are like from a cartoon: perfectly clean, with very soft wool, on the very territory there are a large number of places for interesting photos, but it’s just like in a museum, don't sit and relax.

Silver Lake

Famous Thai vineyard. Very tasty grapes and homemade wine are grown and sold here. They can only be bought here. The park has become famous, because. he was the first to put interesting elements for photographs on his territory. Various flower swings, or a huge pumpkin with a huge watering can.

Visit Silver Lake on your own: Little shade, large area for walking under open sky. Everything else is very interesting.

elephant village

The elephant village is very ambiguous. It was generally the first attraction that we visited in Pattaya on our own. It turned out that there are several farms in Pattaya: about 3, and you can ride elephants almost everywhere. The best elephant show takes place in Nong Nooch Park. And the skating itself is rather boring, you sit and swing and you understand that for the next 30 minutes you will ride only 500 meters, i.e. you can actually see the destination you will be driving. But on the other hand, the guide told a story that there used to be a lot of elephants in Thailand and they were used for work, and then it was banned, and the mahouts could not feed the elephants, so they were simply shot. For example, in Cambodia and Laos at one time there were no elephants at all. The Thais came up with Elephant Farms so that tourists would come to admire and feed the animals. This is the only way to save these animals. Therefore, we try to feed the elephants anywhere =) They are cool.

Transvestite show: Alcazar show, Colosseum, Tiffany

All shows are about the same and all follow the same scenario: some popular song starts, a boy dressed as a girl comes out to it and opens his mouth, and other boys dressed as girls dance around. It used to be unusual for us, so the show got huge popularity, but now the boys dress up as girls, grow a beard and sing on TV, so the show is visited simply because of the image, and not because there is something interesting.

floating market

The place is interesting, but 100% touristic. Those. 3 channels were dug from scratch, merchants were launched there with small tourist items and a mark-up of 300%, set up around shops and called it all a floating market. I would go for the exotic, but everything is very sleek and very small. If you are in Thailand for the first time, then you can see it.

Visit the floating market on your own: children will be bored, you can get on a white tuk-tuk, which goes around Sukhumvit.

Dinosaur Park

Conceived as an amazing place for walks with children, when you meet moving dinosaur statues in full size among the jungle. But in 2014, the park is in decline. There are no visitors, the statues are falling apart, nothing moves, the entrance costs 500 baht. The only plus is that at the entrance to the Park there is a giant dinosaur skull, the size of an adult. He draws attention. But there is nothing to do inside!

Wat Yan Temple

The current temple complex. Of all the temples around Pattaya, Wat Yan is the most unusual. Many people admire its shape, many people admire its decorated bushes, many people really like it inside the temple. There are wax statues of mnas - they look amazing! More precisely, I would advise the temple itself to visit precisely because of them, because. Wat Yan, upon closer inspection, does not seem so chic, especially since you cannot go inside it, and the gates boarded up with boards generally spoil the impression. Behind the temple is a mountain with an observation deck and an imprint of the Buddha. The climb is hard and hot, but the view is not worth it. Therefore, this is not a mandatory part of the tour.

Visit Wat Yan on your own: public transport does not run, children may be bored, women need clothes with ankles and shoulders covered, men with knees covered.

chinese temple

Very close to Wat Yan is a Chinese temple. And this is what I recommend. To be honest, I am not a fan of art, or rather I do not understand it. But in the temple are collected very interesting sculptures- there are also soldiers from the Chinese terracotta army, there are Shaolin monks, there is a balcony with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Nearby there is a park where you can buy and release turtles into the lake, or feed the fish.

visit Chinese temple on one's own: public transport does not run, children will be bored, you need to walk around the temple without shoes, all the inscriptions are in Chinese and English.

Rock image of the Golden Buddha

The largest rock image of Buddha in Thailand. It is laser cut into the rock and filled with gold leaf. Around there is a small park with gazebos. Everything is very clean and tidy. One of the elephant farms is hidden in the bus stop. It will have to be looked for, because. there are no identifying marks. It's a pity, but in the evenings the rock is not illuminated, otherwise it would be very beautiful.

Koh Lan Island and its observation decks.

Koh Lan is the closest island to Pattaya. paradise beaches. The swim is only 40 minutes. You can stay overnight on Koh Lan, and many people love it for its silence and the starry sky, because at night the island dies out, and in the morning you are the first to find yourself on the beach. I like to ride around Koh Lan on a bike, because. amazing views from its mountains!

Samet Island

Koh Samet is considered a national nature reserve and its beaches are considered to be some of the best in Thailand. In addition to tours to local hotels, tourists from Pattaya are also brought here to see good beaches. It has perfect white fine sand and magnificent blue sea. At night, tables are set up on the beach or blankets are spread out, and magnificent fire shows are arranged on the beach for everyone. I highly recommend that you go here, but not on a tour, but on your own for the weekend.

KoSichang Island

An island that is presented as a historical excursion. It really has something to see: This is the royal palace, and the Katian temple, carved into the rock, and stunning observation platforms. There is also a small beach on the island, which is completely empty in weekdays and filled on holidays. Everyone leaves for the island from the city of Sirachi, where there is also a lot of interesting things to see (pool with giant turtles)

Lookouts in Pattaya

There are 2 official observation platforms in Pattaya. One round-the-clock is very close to the Golden Buddha on Pratamnak, and the second is near the port with a large luminous inscription Pattaya. The second one closes at nightfall. Of course, every skyscraper can be considered a viewing platform, and the restaurant in the Pattaya Park tower is also very popular.

Go to the observation decks on your own: Public transport does not go here, and there are no footpaths, many do not know and have to walk along the roadway. But when you get around each there is a lot of interesting things that you can’t see on an organized tour.

Temple of Hell and Heaven (Wat Saen Suk)

Located 60 kilometers from Pattaya. The place is strange, in it in the form of sculptures the punishments that await sinners are shown. And the sculptures are very creepy. A murderer whose stomach is torn open and a raven eats his intestines, or a woman who drinks hot lead for drunkenness. In general, the place is very unloved.
Visit the temple of heaven and hell on your own: there is no public transport, all signs are in Thai, rarely in English, better without children

chicken king farm

It is difficult to call this place an attraction, but the building is quite unusual, so it is often found in guidebooks. In fact, this is a banquet hall with a beautiful area. I wouldn't go specifically. The decoration of the territory is purely in Thai style: There are antique statues, but for Thais they are too white, so the statues are dressed in real colorful clothes.

Go to the farm of the chicken king on your own: Children will be bored, you can take the White tuk-tuk, which goes along Sukhumvit. Entrance to the territory is paid.

Museum of 3D paintings (Art paradise pattaya)

Museum of interactive paintings, when the painting can go beyond its limits and you are invited to become a part of this painting. It is in Pattaya that the museum is very well thought out and they try to follow it so that there are no visible scuffs from frequent photographs, or peeling walls, etc. But on the other hand, such galleries have now begun to appear in all cities, including here in Russia (there are definitely already in St. Petersburg and Moscow).

Visit Art paradise pattaya on your own: can be reached public transport, the kids love it.

Cartoon Network Amazone

Forty kilometers from Pattaya, a water park was opened in 2014. Those. there is a small water park in Pattaya itself, near the Pattaya Park Hotel and there is a new Cartoon Networl Amazone. This is a big theme park with lots of slides.

Go to the water park on your own: white tuk-tuks go around Sukhumvit, of course the children will be interested, but the prices for the water park are still too big.

Aquapark "Romayana"

To be honest, when it opened, I did not even pay attention. He has such a name, some kind of soviet, as if a very rich Roma opened some kind of business for his Yana, we usually open beauty salons, but here is a water park, why not. But more than a year has passed and there are a huge number of positive feedback and almost no negative ones. The only complaint about the water park is the price and the buffet. Buffet rubbish, and the prices for everything are very much inflated.

Open from 10:00 to 18:00
Price: 1500 baht per adult and 1100 baht per child. Locker for things 50 baht.
