From the center of Bangkok to the airport. Buses from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khaosan Road. New bus route S1. Where to sleep at or near the airport

▣ Bus Bangkok-Pattaya.

It is extremely important for any traveler who takes a responsible approach to the process of organizing his vacation to get complete information about the transport system of the visited region.

For example, it is important for tourists visiting Thailand to know exactly how to get from Bangkok to Pattaya. . The transport system of the country is particularly diverse, and a distance of 120 km can be covered in different ways.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport

As a rule, a conversation about ways to overcome the path between Bangkok airport and Pattaya begins with the mention bus service, which is considered not only quite convenient, but also cost-effective.

Bus services on this route are provided by several private carriers and travel companies– enough choice to find the perfect option. Buses and counters that sell tickets for the next flight are located at exits No. 7 and No. 8.

Route from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya

Almost all buses move between the airport and bus stations, one of which is located in the north of Pattaya (North Pattaya Station), and the other in the south - in the Jomtien area (the intersection of Thappraya and Tepprazit streets).

The most popular carrier is Airport Pattaya Bus. Its buses depart from the South Station during the day and from the North Station in the evening. You can buy tickets on the 1st floor near gate 8. The ticket price is 122 baht for a two-hour trip. Cars make at least 10 flights a day. Buses run every hour from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.

In addition to this company, you should also pay attention to Bell Travel Service Co. The cost of one seat is 230 baht when booking on the official website, and 250 baht when purchased at the box office, and the bus covers the entire journey in 2 hours.

Buses run along the route from 8 am to 6 pm: departure from Suvarnabhumi at 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and last flight at 18:00.

In addition to carriers of private companies on this route there is also a public bus number 389. The cost of a trip on it is only 135 baht, which is not compensated too much convenient place arrival in Pattaya, as well as a strictly fixed departure time (hourly from 7 am to 9 pm). The place for embarkation and disembarkation of passengers of flight No. 389 is a platform under a canopy near gate No. 8.

Taxi

There are also taxis on the route Bangkok Airport - Pattaya. You can order a car at the airport building (near the arrivals counter on the second floor), where you can also get comprehensive information about the cost of a future trip (on average, about 1300 baht).

▣ Taxi in Bangkok.

If you move from the center of Bangkok, the price can be inflated to a starting price of 1500 baht, you need to pay toll sections of the road (2 sections of 30 baht each).

To save money on such a trip, you should not only be aware of fare prices, but also be able to choose a taxi driver: the minimum cost can be offered to a driver who has just brought tourists to the airport and is interested in quick search customers for the return journey.

From Don Muang Airport

Compared to the traffic in Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang is considered almost quiet paradise. Only selected flights of low-cost airlines land here, as well as direct flights from the countries of the South Pacific region.

▣ Free shuttle between airports.

Getting to Pattaya from this airport is much more difficult: the most convenient and affordable option is a taxi, which, although not very cheap, satisfies even the most demanding customers. If travelers decide to save money, then you should pay attention to a trip with transfers:

  1. From Don Muang, you should get to the bus station by bus A1 (landing is near exit No. 6) for 30 baht.
  2. From bus station to pattaya bus will take a guest of the country for 100 baht (the average travel time is about 2 hours). Buses run on this route from 5 am to 7 pm.

When boarding, be sure to inform the conductor that the passenger needs to get to the bus station: a stop there is made on demand, therefore inexperienced tourist can pass the required object.

Route from Don Muang to Pattaya

However, many tourists prefer to get from Don Muang Airport to Suvarnabhumi (the actual distance between them is only 50 km) using a free shuttle (working hours - 5:00-24:00). Comfortable (mandatory air conditioning) and fast enough (travel time no more than 40 minutes) buses depart from the arrivals area in Don Muang and arrive at the departures area of Suvarnabhumi Airport.

An alternative to a free shuttle is a bus or minibus No. 554, which runs every half an hour or an hour. The ticket price for such transport is about 35-40 baht.

bus service

Tourists do not always get to Pattaya directly from Bangkok airport. It is worth noting that the path from the city itself is much easier to organize and choose the best option that suits both the price and the service. In addition to the fact that from anywhere in the city you can order a taxi to Pattaya (this pleasure is quite expensive - at least 1300 baht), in any area of the city you can find a transport hub with several types of intercity transport.

From Ekkamai East Station

Regular buses run from the Ekkamai East Bus Station to Pattaya with a classic service for the country (air conditioning for Thai transport is almost mandatory) and an affordable cost (about 100 baht for more than 2 hours of travel). Travelers should not guess and focus on a specific flight, since during the day buses leave every half an hour or an hour, starting from 5 am to 10 pm.

The Ekkamai bus station is located near the skytrain station of the same name, so getting to this point is quite easy from any part of the city.

Be sure to make sure that you buy tickets specifically for the Bangkok-Pattaya Express, otherwise you risk wandering around the local villages for at least 4 hours instead of two hours.

From Moh Chit North Station

Moh Chit Northern Bus Station, located at a sufficient distance from metro stations, can also be a starting point on the way to Pattaya.

Bus station on the map of Bangkok

You can get to the bus station itself only by two modes of transport: first from Don Muang Airport to Chatuchak Park (MRT metro) and Mo Chit (BTS Skytrain) stations, and then from them on foot or by bus number 130. Every day from 7 am to 5 pm long-distance flights depart with a frequency of half an hour. A trip by air-conditioned bus will cost a tourist 100 baht. The bus arrives at North Pattaya Street.

Victory Monument

Those who like to travel on less cumbersome vehicles can hit the road in minivans, which leave in large numbers from Victory Monument Metro Station in Bangkok.

Victory Monument on the map of Bangkok

A ticket for this miniature bus costs about 150 baht, and the journey takes a little less time and they always arrive at tourist areas, saving tourists from having to look for a taxi that will take them to the hotel. Some difficulties for travelers may arise only with luggage, since in such cars the compartments for bags, as a rule, are not very spacious.

By train

Traveling by train on the Bangkok-Pattaya route is not so popular among tourists. Since most travelers arrive in Bangkok by plane, in order to travel by train, you must first get from Suvarnabhumi to railway station Hua Lamphong, which is located near the underground metro station with the same name Hua Lamphong.

▣ By train to Pattaya.

A ticket for a 3rd class carriage without air conditioning and other benefits of civilization will cost 31 baht. Second class is 72 baht and first class is 140 baht. Departure time is 6:55 am and arrival time is 10:34 am. In Pattaya, the railway stop is located next to Siam country club north of Sukhumvit Road. Such an exotic way of transportation is chosen by "wild" tourists, for whom comfort fades into the background in comparison with emotions and impressions.

Fans of the most comfortable and thoughtful vacation will be happy to book a trip from Bangkok to Pattaya in advance. From home, this can be done via the Internet, since most companies provide this option. The complex service includes meeting a tourist at the airport with luggage and delivery to end point destination.

Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok is one of the most big airports that I have seen. There you should use golf carts to get around, otherwise by the time you get from one end to the other, the day will pass. Once upon a time before active travel, I read the blogs of various travelers and came across photos of Suvarnabhumi, then I still could not imagine that I would not just be at this airport, but that I would visit it ten times and would go to Thailand for the winter every year. This is how it happens, you read, draw some pictures in your head, and then once - and you yourself saw it all.

How many airports are there in Bangkok? There is also a second airport in Bangkok, which is called. It is more used for low-cost companies. But today we are talking only about Suvarnabhumi Airport.

How to fly to Bangkok

Suvarnabhumi - main airport countries. It accounts for most of international flights. Many fly here first, and then fly by local low-cost airlines to resorts, it can turn out to be more profitable. But in any case, it all depends on the specific dates. And when buying tickets in advance, for example, it is very profitable to fly to the same Phuket than to make a transfer in Bangkok.

Tickets to Thailand are best monitored through air ticket search engines such as Aviasales.ru and. Then you can see offers from all airlines in one place. Below in the calendar you can estimate the prices in different months.

Online scoreboard of departure and arrival in Suvarnabhumi

Below is online scoreboard with incoming and outgoing flights. Information on the scoreboard is displayed in real time and you can always see which flight is expected, which is delayed, and so on.

Arrival and departure

In order not to get confused between floors, as it is a little difficult at first, given the numbering of floors, save a picture to your phone.

On the 4th floor is the departure area (Departures). There and international flights, and local.

On the 3rd floor there are restaurants with Thai and European food, as well as a waiting area, although it is small.

The arrivals area is located on the 2nd floor passport control, baggage claim. After leaving the baggage claim area, you can buy a SIM card, exchange money, withdraw money from an ATM, find a car rental desk and access to a free bus that takes you to Don Muang.

On the 1st floor there are ticket offices for buses and minibuses to Khaosan, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Koh Chang. The counters are between gates 7 and 8. Also near these counters is the entrance to the Food Court with cheap Thai food.

On the 0th floor (B floor) there is a metro station from which you can get to the center of Bangkok.

Filling out an immigration card

Even on the plane you will be given an immigration card, it must be filled out. There are two parts, an arrival card and a departure card. The border guards will take the first one from you, the second must be saved until departure. When filling out, you don’t have to worry too much, they don’t look much. We wrote a fake hotel and that we do not work anywhere - and everything is in order. But in connection with the latest tightening, it is better to write some position, some manager, or undertake.

Passport control

Arriving at Bangkok airport and getting off the plane, it makes sense to move faster in order to be among the first at passport control. Sometimes, there are queues and once we stood for 2 hours. Follow the Immigration or Baggage claim signs. It may take a long time to walk, so there are moving paths everywhere.

As you see the blue carpet, from which a little ripples in the eyes, you are there. Your box labeled Foreign. You can try to stand in the rightmost line, from there people are sometimes redirected to the windows intended for Thais, especially if you are with a child. And if the child is small, then you can ask yourself. By the way, you must have heard that Thailand is a land of smiles. So, this does not apply to the Bangkok airport, and especially to the border guards. There are some wrong Thais.

The entire arrivals area is located on the second floor of the airport Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. When you receive your luggage, look around, there are racks where you can take free map Bangkok. Also, after leaving the baggage claim area, you can take a local SIM card, exchange currency or withdraw money from an ATM. Dollars / euros in Thailand are not accepted in stores, so you need to have baht. More on this below.

Return flight

Now consider the option when you need to fly from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The departure area is located on the 4th floor of Bangkok Airport. If you take a taxi, you will be immediately brought to this floor. If you take the metro, you will need to take the elevator or escalators from the ground floor to the very top, do not miss it, it is the last one.

On the fourth floor there is a common area for international flights(International Flights) and domestic flights (Domestic flights) from Bangkok Air and Thai Airways. I remind you that from October 1, 2012, AirAsia and other low-cost airlines were moved to. Keep this in mind when planning transfers!

On the 4th floor there are several shops like 7/11 and Family Mart. There are only three entrances to passport control - two for international and one for local departures.

Where to get a SIM card at the airport

On the second floor in the arrivals area, after receiving your luggage and exiting through the green / red corridor, you can buy a local SIM card with the Internet package you need:,. I usually use DTAC.

It also happens that free SIM cards from True Move are handed out to everyone at the exit, and then there may be problems with them if you need the Internet, and you yourself understand that free SIM cards contain a minimum balance, anyway, then you need to connect the necessary Internet package.

Buy a local Thai SIM card online in advance and get 4G internet for 8 days for 131 baht instead of 299 baht. Your Sim will be waiting for you right at the airport at the Klook/Dtac kiosk. This is just a gift, there are no such prices anywhere else. The tariff is more than enough for instant messengers, browsing sites, google maps etc. Here's just in case.

Where to change money at the airport

Exchangers are hard to miss here, there are different banks on every floor. The rate is quite normal for exchanging currency for baht if you have small amounts. Similarly, when departing from Thailand, you can change baht back to dollars / euros at the airport so as not to carry baht with you.

But! If you have a large amount or want to save money, then look for the SuperRich exchanger. It is located on the ground floor, level B, where the exit to the Airport Link subway. The best course! And exactly the same as in their branch in the center of Bangkok. And usually it is SuperRich that is advised as a good exchanger.

Read my recommendations for choosing, perhaps you, like me, do not like to take wads of cash with you, and prefer to withdraw money from ATMs and pay for purchases with a card. And here, just in case, I give a link to that. The airport is full of ATMs where you can withdraw money. also in transit zone there are dollar / euro ATMs, but access to them is possible only when departing from Thailand.

Free WiFi at Bangkok Airport

Free Internet is given for 2 hours, for this you need to connect to the AirportTrueFreeWiFi wifi network, enter your data, register and log in.

If 2 hours is not enough for you, then you can buy the Internet. I would suggest using mobile internet by buying a SIM card with a traffic package for a day or a week. On the second floor in the arrivals area there are DTAC, AIS and True Move counters, where you can easily buy a SIM card and select the desired amount of traffic. Mobile 4G and 3G is excellent at the airport. More about tariffs,. I usually use DTAC or AIS.

Where to eat at the airport

In the departure area on the 4th floor, there are shops like 7/11 and Family Mart: rolls, chocolates, noodles and boiling water in addition, tea, coffee, dried fruits, yogurts, etc. There is also ready-made food (rice with something) that will be heated in the microwave.

On the ground floor there is 7/11 and a couple of cafes. But if you want to have a full meal, then you need to either go to the 3rd floor, where all the cafes are located, or to the food court (Food Point) on the 1st floor. If you love Thai food and know what Thai food courts are, then I would recommend that you go to the food court. It is located near exit number 8, the prices are Thai, you can eat for 50-100 baht per plate. Usually Thais themselves and airport workers eat here.

Luggage Storage Suvarnabhumi Airport

Luggage storage at Bangkok airport costs 100 baht per day. It is located on the 4th floor in the departure area. There is also another luggage room on the 3rd floor.

Where to sleep at or near the airport

If you need a normal comfortable overnight stay during transit, then there is a very close budget hotel, it’s literally 20 minutes away by metro, and it will be right next to the metro station. I have stayed there several times for 1-2 days.

If you want to get even closer, then check out the RoomGuru map, it's full of options. But keep in mind that you will need to get there by taxi and in total, it’s not a fact that it will turn out much faster than by metro. The nearest hotel is Boxtel, it is located right at the airport itself, consider that too. By the way, it can be booked for half a day.

In general, I have stayed in Bangkok many times and in different hotels. I will not provide links to all my reviews, I will add a few more: - a good place to spend the night near Khaosan, but is located on Sukhumvit in the city center.

I hope you know that in Asia you should definitely watch Agoda, Booking alone is not enough for you, and just such aggregators are convenient for this, they immediately have everything, but the best thing is RoomGuru. If you need to find a hotel in Bangkok, then choose accommodation through this service, it will show all the discounts, and then you will book where it is more profitable.

Also, at the airport itself, you can take a nap on skymeks for free if you need to wait for your flight for a short time. There are plenty of them in the departure area, but they are also available on almost all floors. And if you are a backpacker with a sleeping bag and a mat, then there are relatively secluded places under the escalators on the lowest ground floor. The sockets on the walls will be a bonus to you, if they have not been removed yet.

VAT refund or VAT refund

At Bangkok Airport before departure, you can get a tax refund on purchases made in Thailand. Previously, when making a purchase in a store, you must issue a paper for a tax refund. True, not all stores have such an opportunity, and the amount of purchases for paperwork must be at least 2,000 baht at a time.

Bangkok airport map

The main building where you will arrive is rectangular and has 5 floors connected by escalators and elevators. Sleeves adjoin this building, along which you will move from the plane to passport control.

Please note that the numbering of floors is a little non-standard for Russia: there is a zero-ground floor (called B) and floors from 1st to 4th. The ground floor is underground, has no exits to the outside, and from it you can take the metro to the city.

How to get from the airport to Bangkok

Metro and bus

  • Metro ( Suvarnabhumi Airport City Line) costs 15-45 baht to the city center (depending on the number of stations). City Line operating hours are from 6.00 am to 12.00 pm.
  • The same as the previous option, only a non-stop express (Suvarnabhumi Airport Express), following to the Phaya Thai terminal station. The cost is already 150 baht.
  • There is an option with buses for 35 baht, but, to be honest, I have never used them. There, you first need to take a shuttle and get to the bus terminal near the airport, and only then go by bus.
  • To Khaosan, tickets can be bought on the 1st floor between gates 7 and 8, there is a sales counter. The minibus will go from there.

I'll tell you about the subway separately. From Bangkok airport there is a direct independent branch to the city center, it is called the City Line and as such it has nothing to do with the rest of the metro lines, so you will have to pay again when changing. It lies above the ground and allows you to enjoy views of the city of Bangkok. To take the metro, you just need to go down the escalator or elevator to the lowest floor (ground), following the signs, To City / Train to City / City Line.

Once you have taken the City Line to the center of Bangkok, there are different options depending on your goals.

  • To get to Hua Lamphong Train Station, you will need to change at Makkasan Station (transfer to MRT).
  • In order to get to the bus station in Bangkok Mo chit, the transfer is done at the Phaya Thai terminal station (transfer to subway bts sky train).

Just in case, I remember that tickets for intercity buses and railway tickets can now be bought in advance online only at. Payment by card or via PayPal. In the case of a railway, the original ticket must be received in hand - either by mail or in one of the offices.

You can read more about the types of metro, about the railway and bus stations of Bangkok, as well as how and where to get, in the articles on.

Taxi

A taxi to the city center will cost an average of 300-500 baht and more, depending on traffic, distance. The most important thing is to go by the meter, then you get a normal price. If you are traveling with two or three people, it is already easier to take a taxi than the subway. Read more about taxis in Bangkok and driving on the meter in this one.

You will need to go down to the first floor and follow the Public Taxi signs to go outside through the glass doors. You can leave from any exit, it will be even easier to find your way on the street. Immediately after the exit, you will see signs and terminals with coupons, and, possibly, a queue. Take a ticket and then follow the board with the desired number. It's not difficult, you'll figure it out on the spot. By the way, you can take a taxi right away to Pattaya, Hua Hin, etc., but the price will most likely be fixed and not every taxi driver will want to take it, because it’s far away.

Taxi stands and a queue on the street on the 1st floor of the airport

Internet transfer

Anyone who wants a minimum of body movements can order a transfer online to. That is, you order a taxi in advance via the Internet and you will be met in the arrivals hall with a name plate, they will take your luggage, put you in a car and take you to Right place. The method is good because there are no problems at all. A transfer can be ordered not only to the city center, but also to Pattaya, Koh Chang, Hua Hin, etc.

I have already used this service several times and described mine, read it.

From Suvarnabhaumi to Don Mueang Airport

I decided to write in detail what are the ways to get between the two airports of Bangkok and therefore wrote a separate post on this topic -. Free bus, metro, taxi, etc.

How to get to other cities

Instructions

I have a lot of information here on the blog, and in particular, how to get to a particular city if you flew to Bangkok. Here are the main links to my detailed instructions.

Car rental

I have already taken a car at the Bangkok airport 10 times, both on arrival and living in Bangkok itself. Details about all the nuances of renting in Thailand in my post - based on many years of experience.

The car is very comfortable and gives great freedom of movement. You book in advance, you get it immediately upon arrival, and when you return the car to the airport, you can always leave the airport somewhere further by bus or to Bangkok itself by metro / taxi. After having a baby and having more things, I prefer to travel by car rather than by public transport. And in general, I tried something autotraveling and now I almost always drive by car alone.

It is best to book through . On one site you will see offers from all major distributors and the price will be 2 times lower than directly. Arrive and immediately at the airport you will have your own car. I save money all the time.

Suvarnabhumi Airport on the map

This airport is located in the east of the city, one might even say outside the city. Therefore, it takes about an hour to get to the center. But if you are on your way to Pattaya, Koh Chang, etc., then you are even closer to go than it was from the city center from the bus station.

Buses, minibuses and taxis run every half hour on the Pattaya-Bangkok route. Therefore, getting to Bangkok will not be a problem. This year we have repeatedly traveled on business from Pattaya to Bangkok. I thought that information on how to get there might be useful if you want to go to Bangkok on your own.

Buses "Pattaya - Bangkok" at the northern bus station

    Bus Pattaya - Bangkok

Buses also run very frequently. Approximately every 30 minutes. I can’t tell you the exact bus schedule, because I haven’t seen it anywhere. Usually at the box office there is always a sign with the time, what time is the next bus.

It is important to know that buses from Pattaya to Bangkok travel in three directions, to 3 different bus stations:

    • (east station) — close to the subway!
    • (North Bus Station)
    • (Southern or South station)

Tickets are sold at the glass box office under the roof of the station. The fare is from 106 to 124 baht depending on the destination in Bkk. Be sure to bring warm clothes to the salon - a jacket with a hood, pants and socks. It is always very cold on this route. If you have scotch tape in your backpack, you can seal the hole of a broken air conditioner so that it doesn’t blow in your head.

You can get to the bus station by tuk-tuk for 10 baht. Tuk-tuks stand on the dolphin ring at the beginning of North Pattay road. It is in the right northern part of the Ptt, where the turn to Wongamat and the new Terminal-21 shopping center is being built.

    Bus station coordinates: 12.949178, 100.903163

The distance from Pattaya to Bangkok is 120 km. How much time to go - to Ekkamai 1.5-2 hours. The distance and travel time to Mo Chit and the South Station are a little more - 2-3 hours. Travel time may vary depending on traffic jams.

PS: If you want to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport, then you need another bus that starts from Jomtien from Foodmart. Read more.

    Minibuses

The fastest way to get from Pattaya to Bangkok is by minibus. There are many points in the central Ptt, from where minibuses start every 30 minutes in different directions to the BKK - to bus stations, to Victory Monument, to Khaosan, to Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang.

The cheapest way is to buy minibus tickets with departure from the office of the transport company. But it is more convenient to order a minibus with a transfer from the hotel (pick up from the hotel). It is more expensive, but much more comfortable when you are with suitcases. Plus, it's cheaper than a taxi. You can order such trips directly at the offices of transport companies. Through the Internet in Russian order on this site →

We usually ride on large state buses, but many people also use minibuses.

    Taxi Pattaya Bangkok

Transfer Pattaya Bangkok is easy to buy at transport offices in the city. Especially in the center there are many signs with the inscription "Pattaya Bangkok Taxi". At prices it turns out from 1200 baht approximately and more. Most of the agencies are English-speaking, but there are also Russian ones. Order a transfer via the Internet in Russian You can follow this link →.

Order Taxi Pattaya Bangkok should be prearranged at least 24 hours before travel. The taxi will pick you up from your hotel and take you anywhere in Bangkok. If you order via the Internet, you can pay by card the entire cost of the trip or choose the option of paying to the driver.

    Train

There is also such an exotic option - to take the train to Hua Lamphong Station. An option for those who have time for a whole carriage, since this train goes sooo slowly, it will take at least 4 hours to go. But the fare is quite some pennies. Railway station Pattaya Railway on the map.

Many tourists vacationing on immaculate Thai beaches are planning to make a trip Pattaya - Bangkok, so they will find out how to get here and how long to go? The fact is that this tourist route is extremely popular, so no problem with transport links No. The distance from Bangkok to Pattaya is 150 km, public transport runs here from morning to evening, and the cost of a taxi is acceptable.

    Bus ride

    calflier001/flickr.com

The bus from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya is the most popular and sought-after mode of transport. Most tourists fly here, and then transfer to a minibus. Public transport is represented by dozens of different firms and companies - there are minibuses, commercial vehicles, and special tourist buses superior comfort.
How much time will it take? From Pattaya to Bangkok on any bus can be reached in 2-3 hours. The same goes for the trip back. You can book a ticket in advance on the website.

There are two types of routes, you can choose at your discretion:

    • Bus Bangkok - Pattaya runs from two stations of the city - northern and eastern. The minibus leaves every half hour, the price tag for a ticket is 125 baht. Tourists prefer eastern bus station, as buses run more often here, and there is a metro station nearby.
    • The route from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya is the best option if you do not want to visit Thai capital. The fleet is represented by buses of different companies, and you can buy tickets right at the exit. The final route is Jomtien Station.

By the way, depending on the carrier company, the bus schedule, as well as the ticket price, also differ:

    1. Airport Pattaya Bus - minibuses leave every hour from 7 am to 8 pm. You need to wait for them at the eighth exit, the trip takes 2 hours and costs 120 baht.
    2. Bell Travel Service - this cab operates from 8 am to 6 pm, 6 flights are made a day, however, tourists are not taken to the station, but directly to the hotel, which is very convenient if you have heavy luggage. The ticket will cost 250 baht per person.

If, immediately after arrival, you plan to taste Thai life, it is recommended to take a ride on the Pattaya Van minibus. A ticket from the metro station will cost 92 baht, however, the level of comfort for such transport is lower.

    Rail connection

In fact, the train to Pattaya from Bangkok is not the most convenient way movement, although for the price it will surely please the most budget tourists. From Hua Lamphong Station, the train leaves only once a day - at 06:55 minutes. How long will the trip take? You won’t be able to find out in advance, on average you will drive about 3.5 hours, although delays on the line are not uncommon.

There are two stops in Pattaya, but both are too far from the center, you will have to order a taxi or use public transport. But the cost is the lowest:

    • You will spend 30 baht for a train ticket - they are sold only for the third class of a reduced level of comfort;
    • 30 baht will cost a fixed-route taxi - public transport, waiting for passengers right at the exit from the railway station.

When choosing how to get from Bangkok to Pattaya, it is worth giving up the train if you are traveling with a small child or impressive luggage - the trip will not leave the most pleasant impressions.

It is the bike that is worth it if you want to see a lot of sights, visit different beaches and have fun.

Consider a few features of renting a car:

How to quickly get from the airport to Bangkok by train

As the largest and one of the most modern airports all South-East Asia, Suvarnabhumi got rid of the main drawback only in the 4th year after its discovery. Until then, passengers, having the opportunity, did not have the opportunity to quickly and cheaply get to the center of Bangkok. It was in 2010 that for the convenience of passengers, special railway lines— Airport Rail Link. At the same time, all those who arrived at the airport and departed from it got the opportunity to choose from two trains at once, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Outwardly, both trains look the same, but the first train, called the City Line, is painted blue and runs from the airport to the terminus of a branch called Phaya Thai with all stops along the way, i.e. if you go to the final one, then you need to get off at the seventh stop. However, in time, all this will take only a little over 20 minutes, so I would not say that this train does not allow you to get from the airport to Bangkok quickly. The fare to the final station from the airport is 45 baht (2017 data).

Express Line trains, decorated with red stripes, follow up to the fifth station in the direction of Makkasan and, as the name implies, they do this without intermediate stops. At the same time, the cost of express trains is already 150 baht. Whether it is worth overpaying more than three times in order to get from the airport to Bangkok just 10-12 minutes faster is up to you. Personally, I don't use express trains yet. I am not at all bothered by the greater number of passengers on the Blue Line trains, and this is often called the main disadvantage of cheaper trains, because economical Thais use the City Line for commuting and other business.

Perhaps, at rush hour, the carriages of city lines are really crowded, but I was somehow lucky, because trains depart from the airport half-empty and there are always free seats, and I get back to the airport by other means of transport. It should be noted here that the final station of more budget City Line trains - Phaya Thai - is also a Bangkok Skytrain (BTS) station, so if your further way involves moving around the city on BTS, the choice of City Line is even more justified.

Another incentive that could tip the scales in Citi Line's favor is the 105 baht savings, more than enough to get you from Bangkok to Pattaya quickly. I hope you have already read the article and know what to get to the indicated popular resort you can directly from the airport, without the need to move to the capital, from which it is further to Pattaya than from Suvarnabhumi Airport.

If you plan to use the underground line of the metropolitan metro, then you can get to Makkasan station on both types of trains from the airport. By the way, I recently came across information that in the next year or two Makkasan will become a station where you can check in for your flight and even check in your luggage. In general, the metropolitan metro is a big separate topic, so if you want to know how to quickly and for little money move around the capital of Thailand, I advise you to read articles and

If you decide to use one of the described trains in order to , you will have to go down to the lower floor of the airport. First, I advise you to go through the information stands in the arrivals area (2nd floor) and take at least one good one there, which will help in further moving around the capital of Thailand. Speaking of the lower floor, I do not mean the first, but the zero, i.e. below ground level. When you get down to the first floor, follow the large blue signs that say "Train to City" and a picture of a train.

When you go down the escalator, you will need to purchase a ticket for the trip. If you arrived in Thailand for the first time, then at this very moment you will have to get used to the fact that you will need to purchase tickets using special terminals that are built into the wall next to the turnstiles. There should not be any particular difficulties. Choose on the screen the end station of the route, the number of passengers and put in banknotes of 50 or 100 baht, after which you get a ticket and change.

If something does not work out, you will always be helped by friendly Thais or others, more experienced tourists. I also advise you to get used to the fact that tokens and cards on the Bangkok metro must be kept during the trip, because they must be lowered into the turnstile both at the entrance and exit of the metro (the system of differentiation of fares depending on distance affects). Perhaps this will not seem particularly important given the short distance, but since the article claims to be complete coverage of the issue, I note that the cars of both types of trains are well air-conditioned. At the same time, soft seats are installed in Express Line cars, and there are shelves for luggage on top. In City Line trains, the seats are made of plastic, and luggage will have to be placed directly on the floor of the car.

The main disadvantage of Airport Rail Link is its operating time. Getting from the airport to Bangkok by train and back is possible only from 06-00 in the morning until 24-00 at night, i.e. if your plane arrives in Suvarnabhumi after 23:00 pm or departs before 08:00 am, you will either have to wait at the airport for a long time or use other means of transport, which I have described below.

I want to remind you right away that you can cheaply get from Suvarnabhumi Airport by minibus to the famous Khaosan Road in the historical part of Bangkok. You can find information about this method on the page: In order to get to one of the points of interest to you in Bangkok on regular bus or minibus, you must first get to the Public Transportation Center (Public Transportation Center), which is located near the airport. You can do this on a free airport bus (shuttle bus), which departs from Gate No. 5. Next, you need to transfer to one of the public transport routes, the decoding of which is given below.

    Bus number 549. Suvarnabhumi - Min Buri (Suvarnabhumi - Min Buri);
    Bus number 550. Suvarnabhumi - Bang Kapi (Suvarnabhumi - Bang Kapi);
    Bus number 551. Suvarnabhumi - Victory Monument (Suvarnabhumi - Victory Monument);
Bus number 552. Suvarnabhumi - On Nut (Suvarnabhumi - On Nut)
Bus number 552A. Suvarnabhumi - Sam Rong
Bus number 553. Suvarnabhumi - Samut Prakan (Suvarnabhumi - Samut Prakan)
Bus number 554. Suvarnabhumi - Don Muang Airport (Suvarnabhumi - Don Muang)
Bus number 555. Suvarnabhumi - Rangsit (Suvarnabhumi - Rangsit)
Bus number 558. Suvarnabhumi - Central Rama 2 (Suvarnabhumi - Central Rama 2)
Bus number 559. Suvarnabhumi - Fucha Pak Rangsit (Suvarnabhumi - Future Park Rangsit)

All designated routes of buses and minibuses depart during the day from the bus terminal with a frequency of about 20 minutes, while reaching final stop for 1-2 hours. Exact time At the same time, it is difficult to predict arrivals, because the speed of their movement is highly dependent on the current traffic situation and the presence of traffic jams. Personally, the option with buses did not seem particularly attractive to me when there are fast and comfortable trains. But if you are interested in places in Bangkok that can be reached directly by buses and minibuses from the airport, then the option can be considered. I also remind you that intercity buses (to Trat, Pattaya, Nong Khai, Rayong, etc.) depart from the bus terminal (Public Transportation Center).

How to get to Bangkok from the airport by taxi

For those who are frightened by some of the complexities of a regular taxi in Bangkok, I can advise an excellent international one. You can order and even - if you want - pay online (in whole or in part) a taxi in advance, after agreeing on the route and price. When you arrive in Bangkok, already in the arrivals area of the airport, you will be met as a VIP by a driver with a sign with your name on it. Then you just follow the driver to the car and get to your destination (not necessarily in Bangkok, by the way). As you can see, the option is simple and convenient, at any time of the day. But in some cases, such a taxi will be a little more expensive than a regular taxi.

In any case, a taxi from the airport will be the most expensive, but also one of the fastest ways to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok. And at night - and only possible way. The easiest and safest way to find a taxi upon arrival at the airport is to go down from the arrivals area (2nd floor) to the first floor of the airport and follow the signs "Public Taxi" to the official counter, where a receipt is issued indicating your destination. If several more flights arrived in Bangkok at the same time as you, there may be a small queue of passengers at the taxi stand, but it moves quickly enough and there is no need to be afraid of getting stuck in this queue for a long time.

When ordering a taxi, it is desirable to have basic knowledge in English, but I think if you just give the name of your hotel or the street where it is located, there will be no problems with understanding. And the amount that you need to pay will simply be written to you on a piece of paper or a calculator. By the way, in the article I described in detail why you should not change large sums of money at the Bangkok airport (you can read it if you want to save money). The receipt that you will be given at the check-in desk should be given to the taxi driver supervisor. He will take it from you and exchange it for another receipt, which will contain all the details of the upcoming trip.

Also, don't be surprised or scared that you'll be scammed when asked to pay a special airport fee, which is currently THB 50 (the amount that a taxi driver pays to enter the airport's arrivals area). When boarding a free taxi, the driver may ask you to look with one eye at the receipt issued to you. Just do not give it away for good, because this is a guarantee that you will be able to find a taxi driver in case of any trouble (for example, when you forgot one of the things in a taxi). I remind you that official taxi services are required to use a meter (taxi meter) while driving. As a rule, taxi drivers at the official airport desk do not need to be reminded to turn on the meter, but if you notice that the meter is not working, you should remind the driver about it.

The fare for landing in a taxi in Bangkok is 35 baht, while the first 2 km of the journey is included in the amount. When traveling by taxi from the airport to Bangkok, you will also have to pay for the fare toll road. But the amount there is small (from 25 to 45 baht depending on the distance and time of day), while you are almost guaranteed to avoid traffic jams that happen on free roads. The specified toll will have to be paid twice (at two points), while required amount will be shown to you on the electronic scoreboard and printed on the check after you pay the fee.

As a result, the cost of a trip from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok will cost you between 300 and 500 baht, including travel on a toll road, a 50-baht tax at the airport and a small tip to the taxi driver (the last item is not at all necessary, but if you liked the service, you can thank taxi driver with a small amount of 10-20 baht). When exchanging money at the airport, I advise you to ask at the exchange office for at least a few small denomination banknotes (20-50 baht each). By the way, large banknotes can be exchanged for smaller ones at the points where payment for travel on a toll road is made. Small bills are needed so that the taxi driver does not resort to the well-known trick with the lack of change.

A little more complicated way get from airport to bangkok is to take a free airport bus to the Public Transport Center terminal already mentioned in the article, where you can always find free taxis. This method allows you to save already due to the fact that you do not have to pay an airport tax of 50 baht. I hope my work will not be in vain and after reading this far from small article you will clearly understand all the ways that will allow you to get from the airport to Bangkok without any problems, where you plan to relax for a few days or go from the capital to other resorts in the country.
