    Sights of the Taman Peninsula

The edge of the three seas, t It is no coincidence that the name of the Taman Peninsula was given: from the north it is washed by the Sea of Azov, from the south - by the Black Sea, and inside the peninsula - a sea spilled with sweet spicy wines. There are vineyards everywhere, and you can feel the pleasant, relaxing proximity of the big water.

    Temryuk

In the very east of the Taman Peninsula, immediately at the entrance from the mainland, you are met by the city of Temryuk. Small, cozy, it creates a feeling of peace, as if created for a relaxing holiday.

As in all seaside towns, street vendors offer marine souvenirs. There is also the official Central Market. Small, but here you can buy almost any seafood, which is very reminiscent of the famous Odessa Privoz. All the fish is fresh, just caught, fluttering on the trays, and next to it, crayfish are slowly sorted out with claws and mussels are quietly waiting for their turn. A lot of oriental sweets, ten varieties of churchkhela alone, Kuban sunflower oil, herbs, vegetables, fruits - everything is in abundance. Temryuk has its own cognac factory, founded in 1991. From there, a specialized store has been opened on the market, where three-, four- and five-year-old cognac is bottled directly from the barrels.

For the curious, the Historical Archaeological Museum, but not far from the city on the slopes extinct volcano The bowl is arranged as an open-air museum of military equipment " military slide".

Temryuk is good for everyone. One thing is bad about it - there are no beaches, since the entire coast is occupied by the port. Therefore, both Temryuchans and vacationers go to the village of Golubitskaya, which is five kilometers from the city. There is a lake with therapeutic mud, which is actively used in local health facilities. The swimmers do not so much swim (the depth barely reaches one and a half meters), as they get a healing agent, they are coated with them and go like this - “blacks” - until they dry. Then, having already washed, they go to the Sea of Azov, which is only 50 meters away.

It must be said that the Taman Peninsula is famous for its mud lakes and volcanoes, of which there are about 30. There are very small ones, and there are those that reach 10–15 meters in diameter. Locals often call them "vomits", firstly, for constantly bursting gurgling bubbles, and secondly, because from time to time, along with large portions of dirt, they splash out everything that would-be tourists have sketched.

One of major volcanoes- Blue Balka - located near the village with the battle name "For the Motherland", ten kilometers from Golubitskaya. Wallowing in the mud here has been made a paid entertainment, the cost of which includes swimming in the crater, use of the shower and changing room, as well as the opportunity to eat at the cafe.

There are no problems with accommodation on the peninsula: all the way from Temryuk to Golubitskaya stretch boarding houses, and private houses on summer time turned into mini-hotels. Behind the lake itself there are many fenced areas for cars with showers and drinking water.

Indian miracle on the Taman Peninsula

On the Taman Peninsula, you can also find a piece of India. More than ten years ago, an experiment on planting a lotus was carried out in the Akhtanizovsky estuary. Warm fresh water is quite suitable for a delicate plant, and now from mid-July to mid-August you can admire real thickets of huge, 10–15 centimeters in diameter, pink flowers that sway on the water, emitting a faint sweetish aroma.

To get to the Lotus Valley, you need to turn from Temryuk to the village of Strelka, and after the Kazachiy Erik river, turn right. There, near the oak grove, where there was a slave market many centuries ago, boats and boats are waiting for tourists, delivering them to the Akhtanizovsky estuary. Pleasure, of course, is paid, and sailing for about an hour, but it's worth it.

From Strelka we go to Taman. The largest settlement along the road is Sennoy. In these places once stood ancient greek city Phanagoria, and archaeologists have been successfully developing the local lands for many years.

    Taman and Tmutarakan Principality

Despite the fact that Lermontov called Taman "the nastiest town of all the seaside cities of Russia," its inhabitants were not offended by Mikhail Yuryevich and even erected a monument to him on a high seashore. There is also a poet's museum here - in the center of Taman, on the embankment, there is a "Lermontov's courtyard", next to which there is a flower garden. Directly below it is the city beach, but it is not equipped at all: there are no sun loungers, no umbrellas, no changing cabins. You can also go down to the sea from the monument to the first Cossacks who set foot on the peninsula in 1792.

There are not many places in the city where you can have a decent bite to eat, but there are two tasting rooms. One is right at the entrance to Taman at the winery. They always start tasting with light dry wines and, gradually increasing the degree, they reach fortified ones. Here you will be taught to drink wine correctly, fully enjoying its aroma and taste. The second tasting room is in the city center, in the Museum of Viticulture and Winemaking. It will tell you how cognac differs from brandy, and show you ancient devices for making intoxicating drinks.

Leaving Taman, you immediately find yourself in a strip of vineyards. They grow along the entire road, providing raw materials for wineries, which are said to be one for every 15 kilometers in these places.

Salt of the land of Taman

To the south of Taman, between the villages of Veselovka and Tamansky, hid unusual lake- Salty. It differs from most lakes not only in salinity (as the name implies), but also in the fact that there is practically no water in it. Max Depth during the rainy season - ten centimeters. And in summer, the entire reservoir, one and a half kilometers long, is covered with a layer of salt, which was obtained here in industrial volumes until the middle of the 20th century. From a distance it seems that the whole plain is strewn with snow. Hidden beneath the white veil is a powerful layer of jet-black mud. It is believed that it is very useful for the treatment of joints. The miners, having pitched tents on the shore of the lake, make "holes" in the upper crust and take out the healing agent with shovels, and then put it in plastic bags and plastic barrels.

Along the banks around the endemic of the peninsula grows, a plant that is not found anywhere else - kermek. It is often included as a dried flower in winter bouquets. Salt Lake stretches to the Black Sea. The water here is amazingly clean, but rocky beach and coastal huge boulders make swimming extreme. Maybe that's why, and also because the road here is bad and it is not indicated on the maps, there are almost no vacationers. But in this quiet corner in the morning we saw dolphins splashing in the waves, and the whole coast was strewn with bizarre shells, which we endlessly collected to take home for a long memory.

    Abrau-Durso

Being in these places, it is impossible not to visit the famous Abrau-Durso. Leaving the Taman Peninsula, passing Anapa and not reaching Novorossiysk, immediately after the village of Tsemdolina, we turned towards Abrau. By winding mountain road we rise up. Narrow, it winds so often and makes such unexpected turns that you have to drive very slowly. The locals, however, drive at a decent speed even in the dark, probably hoping for an eternal Russian chance, because it is simply unrealistic to find out if there is a car around a sharp 180 ° turn.

At the entrance to the village, you freeze, looking in amazement at the wonderful Lake Abrau, surrounded on all sides by mountains. It is located at an altitude of 80 meters above sea level and is the largest in the North-Western Caucasus. Its length is almost two and a half kilometers, its width is half a kilometer. This place is covered with legends. One of the legends says that the lake was formed because of the unhappy love of the poor shepherd Durso and the rich man's daughter, the beautiful Abrau.

And the tour guides tell such a story. During the Great Patriotic War, not wanting the Germans to get the wine, the factory workers built a platform that goes far into the lake, and 200 huge barrels were rolled into the water on it. The war ended, then there were difficult years of recovery National economy, and now the place where these barrels were dumped is already forgotten, they were covered with a multi-meter layer of silt. Volunteers are trying to find the wine treasure, but so far no luck has smiled at anyone.

Almost on the very shore of Lake Abrau, a factory of champagne wines Abrau-Dyurso was built. Its cellars, where the temperature is always the same, +14°C, are carved into the rocks. Under the whole village - houses, shops, roads - there are wine cellars. The vents from the tunnels go straight to residential areas, even to children's playgrounds, but this does not bother anyone. And, as the locals say, the air here is always a little intoxicated, it is filled with a sparkling aroma. Only women work at the enterprise: men cannot stand the constant proximity to wine.

The production was started by Prince Lev Sergeevich Golitsyn, who in 1891 became the chief winemaker of the Specific Department in the Crimea and the Caucasus. Since then, the Abrau-Durso brand has been famous not only in Russia, but throughout the world. The most valuable - collectible - champagne is kept for three years. It goes on sale in exclusive bottles, on the bottom of which the bookmark date is stamped, so it’s not difficult to check the authenticity. Labor at the plant is 70% non-mechanized. Manually, slowly, month after month, bottles are turned over on special racks, gradually placing them in a vertical position upside down so that the sediment from the wine material settles on the cork. Then, dressed in a special suit (steel mask, rubber coat and gloves), the cork, along with the sediment, is removed at a very low temperature so that the wine does not spill out, and the bottle is corked again.

Tastings are held in three halls of the plant - Golitsynsky, French and Tsarsky. Here you will not only be told how champagne is made, but will also be taught how to open a bottle correctly and distinguish the real from the fake. There is a store at the factory where prices for all products are two times lower than anywhere else, and people buy wine in boxes. And around there are still a lot of small shops offering both sparkling and non-sparkling local wine, really amazing in cous.

There are a number of interesting sights in the city of Temryuk. For example, a museum military equipment"Military hill". This museum contains guns, planes, tanks and ships of different times (war and post-war). The peculiarity of the museum is that near the exhibits you can not only take pictures, but even climb on them. Another feature of the museum is that it is located on the active mud volcano Miska.

On the Taman Peninsula there is such an interesting place as the village of Ataman. This complex covers an area of 20 hectares and recreates the life of the Cossacks in the period from the 18th to the 20th century. Exhibits for the museum were collected throughout the Krasnodar Territory. Here you can see the farmsteads of a fireman, a weaver, a baker, a winemaker, a barber, a shoemaker, a potter, as well as ordinary villagers. The organizers have tried to recreate as accurately as possible not only appearance buildings, but also construction technology. It is worth allocating at least two to three hours to walk around this complex. There is a parking lot near the complex. But it is better to visit this place with an excursion, during which you can get acquainted with the history of Taman winemaking and taste factory wines. The excursion program includes visits to wine cellars, acquaintance with the process of making and bottling wines. There is a wine museum on the territory of the plant. For some types of wine and balms, ceramic containers in the form of ancient Greek amphorae are made right on the territory of the plant. In the tasting room, visitors are offered to taste five various kinds wines (wine can be bought in the company store on the territory of the plant).

The Taman Peninsula began to be settled since 1792. With the advent of the Cossacks, the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos was erected in this place. The church is a stone building and is the first stone temple in the Kuban. The temple is located in one of the most picturesque gardens (the place for the construction was chosen by the Cossacks themselves). Services were held here even during the Soviet era and the German occupation. The building of the church is made in the form of a ship. A small annex was built near the temple, in which ancient signs made of stones and marble are stored, which in different time were found on the territory of the Taman Peninsula.

Between 1871 and 1877 in Temryuk, the construction of the Church of the Archangel Michael took place. Initially, not only services were held in the church, but honorary citizens of the city were also buried in the church cemetery. In 1937, the temple was blown up, and a market appeared in its place. The church was completely restored only in 1998. If you look at the church from above, then in shape it resembles a cross. Another feature of it is that it is built on a mountain and church domes are visible from almost anywhere in the city. Today, services are regularly held in the church, a Sunday school and a library operate at the church. This place is especially popular in summer, when pilgrims come here from almost all over the Kuban.

There are a number of interesting places in the village of Golubitskaya, one of them is a crocodile farm (not everywhere in Russia you can see such a farm). For many years this farm has been one of the main attractions of the village and every year it is visited by a huge number of tourists who can watch alligators, crocodiles, pythons. In addition to these reptiles, you can see lizards of various breeds and turtles on the farm. You can get acquainted with the farm and its inhabitants both independently and with a guide. From time to time, various shows are held on the farm, during which visitors can feed these dangerous creatures.

On the shore of the bay, on the edge of the Taman Peninsula, the resort village of Taman is comfortably located. Every tourist will find attractions and entertainment here. Below are all the main interesting places for lovers sightseeing holiday.

    Turkish fountain

    • Belikov street.

The fountain in the center of the village was built during the Ottoman period, which explains its Turkish name. The building itself is rare, scientists for a long time could not understand the principle of its work. It turned out that water - due to the moist sea air - settles and condenses into the pipes of the fountain.

The spring is located on the sandy bottom of a dried-up lake, the water in it always invigorates with its coolness. Anyone who has visited Taman is simply obliged to enjoy the fresh water from the Turkish Fountain! Such sights are extremely rare in the Kuban, in Russia as a whole.

    Monuments and temples

    Monument to the first Cossacks-settlers

    • Schmidt street.

The monument to the "First Cossacks-Settlers" complements the sights of Taman. It was erected at the beginning of the 20th century as a memory of the first Cossacks. On the pedestal rises the figure of a Cossack holding a flag in his hand.

Looking at it, the tourist and travelers will be able to independently imagine how the Cossacks who arrived for the first time looked around the boundless Taman lands, getting off the ship to establish settlements here.

    • Kalinina, 1.

This temple is one of the oldest on the peninsula. Its very structure is extremely beautiful and unusual - it was built by the Turks. The church keeps ancient icons, the main of which is the Mother of God of Kozelshanskaya.

Legend has it that the domes were cast from Cossack cannons in the 18th century. Now the temple is open to both parishioners and tourists. Take a break from the worldly bustle and pray in one of the ancient churches possible in the very center of the village.

One way or another, it will be interesting and informative for both adults and children. Therefore, when you are near Tamanya, be sure to visit this corner of the Krasnodar Territory.

We wish you all pleasant and amazing travels!
