Panorama Lviv. Virtual tour of Lviv. Attractions, map, photo, video. What to see in Lviv. Free walking guide

It was unforgettable. It was fun. It was cool. This is how we can describe our trip to Lviv. Old trams, cobblestone streets, architecture, fragrant coffee, sweet chocolate and cheerful company - this made the trip to Lviv so chic. As I write these lines, I remember our journey. And these memories warm my heart.

We traveled to Lvov by train. We had one change in Gantsevichi. From Minsk to this station we drove like kings - in a separate compartment. It had soft seats with comfortable backs, and modern music played on the radio. They even danced to the music. Chic.

So we got to Gantsevichi. In the photo we are at the station of this city. We had an adventure there. Read about why we suddenly ended up in Gantsevichi, what adventures we had and what we did there. At 11 am we boarded a direct train from Gantsevichi to Lvov.

Meet Katya. One of the girls in our company. It was her first trip abroad. She wanted to go somewhere with us for a long time. And then, finally, it broke out. Be like Katya. Let's go on the next trip together :)

Morning. The clock is 9:20. The train is slowing down. The people in the carriage are finishing their tea and putting their things together. It becomes clear that we are approaching the Lviv railway station. Through the window you can see the dome under which the trains stop. We put our backpacks on our shoulders and walk along the narrow corridor of the train. We turn from the vestibule and see a bright light from the street. We go down the metal steps of the car and jump onto the asphalt. That's it, we've arrived! We are at the railway station in Lviv.

From the station to the city center can be reached on foot. We did just that. We walked along the road and saw stalls, cafes, pizzerias and bakeries. Old trams pass by, rattling on the rails. Along the way, we also met a modern yellow tram. In Ukrainian they are called "Electron". But old trams are already a feature of Lviv.

Architecture of Lviv.

When we arrived in Lvov, it was drizzling lightly. While we were all 3 days in Lviv, the weather was different. Sometimes it was drizzling, sometimes it was a bright sun, and even once it started to hail. But we were lucky with the weather. It was light most of the time.

Tiling.

Popovnyayte here.

Selfie time.

And so, we reached the city center. Near the opera house there are wooden houses.

They sell souvenirs, honey, sweets, bagels and mead. On the benches people play checkers, backgammon and chess. The houses stand in a row and lead to the opera house, where every traveler wants to take his photo.

Opera theater of Lvov.

Yards of Lvov.

Just like Italian patios. It seems?

Male selfie.

Margarita and Angelina :)

The very center of Lviv is the place where the city hall stands. Well, yes, she is not in the photo) Only a piece of her wall on the left got into the frame.

Around the town hall on four sides you will see sculptures with fountains. We took a picture with Neptune. He also loves to take selfies. See how he poses.

Santa Claus was playing in the central Rynok Square. He only plays if they put money in the box. Otherwise it stops like a robot. Says the batteries are dead. He plays great.

Streets of Lviv.

King Danilo.

We saw the Bernardine monastery. We went inside, sat on benches and listened to the silence.

Courtyard behind the monastery.

There are more architectural monuments in Lviv than in other cities of Ukraine. It is a fact. And the city center itself was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Many attractions are located in the city center. You don't even have to go far. And what are the sights! It's great, right?

Happy Angelina and Margarita :)

Local store.

On the square in the city center you will find many cafes. Lviv is known for coffee and chocolate. Therefore, we went to the main coffee place in the city - Lviv's kawi mine.

Imagine. You open the door to the coffee shop and from the threshold you feel the intoxicating aroma of coffee. You see how a huge apparatus is spinning, which roasts coffee beans. Here he is in the photo.

You see gray woven bags with coffee beans. Along the walls are dark brown tables with wooden chairs. Sit on any, order a cup of hot coffee and think about the eternal. Nobody will disturb you here.

This is not just a coffee shop. You can drink a cup of Lviv cavi and then go down into the mine. At the entrance you will be given a helmet with a flashlight. The mine is dark, dust is flying in the air, so the flashlight on the helmet will illuminate your path. And if you want, order coffee right in the mine. It will be cooked in front of your eyes with the help of a burner that blazes with fire in all directions.

We rested in a coffee shop and went for a walk around the city.

In Lviv there is a park "High Castle". And he's really tall. You have to walk 20 minutes to get to the very top.

But there are paths everywhere, so you can easily climb the mountain. We took each other's hands and went up the mountain like a train. So it's easier) In the middle of the way we took a selfie.

Katya and Margarita :)

But guys, climbing to the top is worth it. When you climb a mountain, there are only trees around you. Every step you take takes you closer and closer to the top. As soon as you are on the mountain, you understand how cool it is here. How beautiful it is here. How cool is this here. The whole of Lviv opens before you. You see the whole city with its streets and houses. I just want to stand and endlessly look at Lviv. I love places like this. How I love them.

Route number 1

Station - St. George's Cathedral -
Potocki Palace - Mickiewicz Square - Bernardine Monastery

The first thing that tourists who come to Lviv see is the intricate building of the Main railway station. From the original station complex, built in 1861, almost nothing has survived to this day. The building in its present form, with a domed roof and glass arches, appeared in 1904, and not so long ago it was completely restored.

Cathedral of St. George

The main shrine of Ukrainian Greek Catholics, which for a long time served as the residence of church metropolitans. St. George's Cathedral is part of a whole complex of buildings built in the Baroque and Rococo styles and in 1998 included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Park named after I. Franko

I. Franko Park is located in the central part of the city, opposite the building of the main building of Lviv University. It is considered the oldest park in Lviv and the oldest city park in Ukraine. The perfect place in order to enjoy the Lviv autumn, as well as a cup of coffee and pastries from nearby coffee houses.

university

One of the oldest universities of Eastern Europe and the oldest university in Ukraine. The main building of the university occupies a monumental building, which used to house the Regional Seim, the parliament of Galicia and Lodomeria. For a long time, Lviv University was named after the Polish King Jan Casimir, but with the advent of Soviet power, it was renamed in honor of the Ukrainian poet and writer Ivan Franko, who studied here at the Faculty of Philosophy in the 70s of the 19th century.

Citadel

The only complex in Ukraine defensive structures which has survived to this day unchanged. During the Second World War, a German prisoner of war camp was located on the territory of the Citadel, and after that - barracks and warehouses. Now in one of the towers of the fortress there is a five-star hotel Citadel Inn, as well as a panoramic restaurant "Garmata", from whose windows you can see beautiful view on historical Center Lvov. You can also admire the views of the city from the slopes of the hill on which the Citadel stands.

Restaurant "Kupol"

At first glance, the "Dome" looks more like an apartment of wealthy Lviv residents of the early 20th century. Recommended to anyone who wants to understand what is the famous Galician cuisine. The basis of the menu is old Polish dishes combined with Ukrainian and Jewish ones. Regulars advise ordering zrazy with mushrooms, and for dessert - Dome ice cream.

Potocki Palace

Located on Copernicus Street, the palace in the style of French classicism previously belonged to the Potocki family of Polish gentry, and now serves as the premises for the Lviv Art Gallery - the largest art museum Ukraine. To the right of the Potocki Palace you can see the modern building of the Lviv Palace of Arts. The area in front of the palace is often used for various art events.

Culinary Studio "Kryva Lypa"

Studio of author's cuisine, located in a busy lane Kryva Lypa, connecting the streets of Petro Doroshenko and Sichovy Striltsiv. Portions at Kryve Lypa are generous in Ukrainian style. In addition, every Monday in the restaurant you can watch art-house films in the original language with Ukrainian or Russian subtitles.

Mickiewicz Square

In 1904, a monument to the great Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz was erected in the center, thanks to which the square got its current name. At the dawn of Ukraine's independence, on the site of houses No. 8 and 10 destroyed by fire, the building of the Lviv branch of Ukrsotsbank was built, in sharp contrast with architectural ensemble square and became the object of ridicule and discontent of the townspeople.

George Hotel

Originally called De La Rus, the popular hotel was later renamed in honor of its founder, the merchant Georges Hoffmann. "George" is the oldest operating hotel in Ukraine, if you count from 1793 - the moment the first hotel appeared on this site. At one time, the hotel was very popular with famous guests of the city. Honore de Balzac, Richard Strauss, Jean-Paul Sartre and Jozef Pilsudski stayed there.

Monument to King Daniel

The statue of King Daniel appeared on Halytska Square a little over ten years ago, but has already become an integral part of the architectural landscape of Lviv, as well as popular place meetings of local residents and the starting point of tourist routes. Hearing: “Meet at the Horse,” you can be sure: we are talking about the monument to Daniil Galitsky.

Bernardine Monastery and Church of St. Andrew

More like a fortress, the Bernardine Monastery was indeed once part of the system of defensive structures in Lviv. Many urban legends are associated with it. One of these tells of an underground passage that connected the Bernardine monastery with the nearby convent of Clares, which was allegedly dug by the monks for romantic meetings. The remains of an old underground passage were indeed found in this area and were subsequently used in the construction of an underground passage at Mytnaya Square. On the side of Valovaya Street, the monastery is adjoined by a square, also called the Bernardine Garden, in which various cultural events and exhibitions are often held.

"Persha Grill Restaurant M" Jar of Justice"

The restaurant of the popular Lviv chain!Fest is located on the territory of the Bernardine Garden, in the courtyard of the Church of St. Andrew. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a charismatic executioner, and the restaurant itself repeats the interior of a medieval torture chamber. The menu, as the name suggests, includes meat dishes in various variations.

Route number 2

Opera House - Dominican
Cathedral - Rynok Square - Synagogue "Golden Rose"

Lviv Opera

It is impossible to visit Lviv and not see its pearl - the building of the Lviv national opera, whose facade is depicted on Ukrainian banknotes with a face value of 20 hryvnias. This theater is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful in Europe, and it also has good acoustics, which can be easily seen by buying opera tickets.

According to legend, the Poltva River once flowed in this place, which later, when the center of Lviv began to be actively built up, was “hidden” in underground tunnel. "Left Bank" is a restaurant on the bank of an underground river, so you will have to get to the main hall through a series of small bridges, under which water murmurs. Recommended for all lovers of beer, as well as urban myths and secrets.

Souvenir market "Vernissage"

The largest selection of Lviv souvenirs is presented at the market, which is open all year round. open sky at the intersection of Lesya Ukrainka and Teatralnaya streets. In addition to traditional magnets, T-shirts with patriotic inscriptions and postcards with views of the city, here you can find all kinds of embroidered shirts and towels, designer jewelry, paintings, souvenirs from the Carpathians, as well as walk along the miniature flea market with antiques and objects of Soviet life.

The building in which the restaurant is located belonged to the bank of the same name for three centuries, so on the walls of three halls, as well as in the courtyard of the restaurant, you can see portraits of bankers and famous citizens. Mons Pius offers great beer own production, a juicy steak or one of the signature salads. Impressive portion sizes, as well as friendly service, are a pleasant surprise. IN warm weather we advise you to sit on summer playground restaurant, in the shade of a huge tree, which, judging by the scale, has been growing here since the day the bank opened.

Shop "Pravda, B"

Semi-shop-half-gallery, "Pravda, B" sells eco-clothing, author's ceramics, jewelry, paintings and other works of original Lviv artists. On a fine, sunny day, the shutters of the store are always wide open, and tourists are photographed with a tricolor cat, calmly looking out of the window. Unfortunately, the cat is not for sale.

"Gas Lamp"

Another institution on Armenian, dedicated to the invention of a kerosene lamp. In the themed restaurant, in addition to a collection of lamps and a monument to the authors of this invention, there is also a workshop-laboratory for the production of branded tinctures, which are usually brought as a souvenir from every trip to Lviv. You can have a delicious lunch on any of the three floors of the restaurant, but it is especially recommended to go up to the upper terrace, from where you can see the rooftops of Lviv.

Gallery "Dziga"

Gallery of modern art, which opened on Armenian street in 1997. Unlike the Lviv Palace of Arts, Dzyga presents the works of artists working in the contemporary art format. Most often, the projects exhibited in the gallery are ambiguous and provocative and illustrate the view of contemporary Ukrainian artists on acute social topics.

dominican cathedral

One of the most recognizable sights of Lviv. The Baroque cathedral was built on the site of a dilapidated Gothic church, in which Peter I signed an agreement with the Poles on a joint struggle against the Swedes. The facade of the building is decorated with the inscription "Soli Deo Honor Et Gloria" ("To God alone, honor and glory") - the motto of the Dominican order. In Soviet times, the Museum of the History of Religion and Atheism was opened on the territory of the cathedral, which later became simply the Museum of the History of Religion, which still operates today.

Pharmacy Museum

Pharmacy "Under the Black Eagle", the oldest in Lviv, is located in a corner house at the intersection of Drukarska and Stavropigiiska streets. In the pharmacy-museum you can buy branded “Iron Wine” and iron sugar, which has a general strengthening effect on the body of an impressed tourist.

Only 350 steep steps separate you from the observation deck at the top of the Lviv City Hall building. The most beautiful panorama city, which opens from the town hall tower, it is worth it to make this difficult ascent.

"Feast of Cheese and Wine"

This year the Lviv Cheese and Wine Festival will be held for the fourth time. From October 18 to October 20, the center of Lviv will become a big fair, where products from both Ukrainian manufacturers and importers will be presented. Every day of the fair will be accompanied by wine and cheese tastings, as well as festival events, such as a grape press or the celebration of Cheesecake Day, where everyone can taste a traditional Lviv delicacy.

Italian patio

A classic Italian-style courtyard can also be seen in the center of Lviv, at Rynok Square, 6. The building once belonged to the merchant and wine merchant Konstantin Kornyakt, who was allowed to build a house on the city square for special services to the king. Now in the Italian courtyard there is a cafe of the same name and acoustic concerts are held.

Coffee house "Digging Kava"

It is no secret that coffee trees do not take root well in the Ukrainian climate, so Lviv coffee is mined in a deep mine, located right under Rynok Square. There are only nine types of strudel and cheesecakes on the menu, but local chefs have brought each of them to perfection. Lviv-style prices are low, alcohol is not served in the institution, but it is not needed. A nice bonus - five types of free toppings to make strudel and cheesecakes even tastier.

Shop-gallery "Schos Tsikave"

One of the newly opened art venues in Lviv, located right on Rynok Square, in the courtyard of house No. 13. Works by young artists from Ukraine and Poland are presented here. The Catholic Cathedral, built on the site of the Orthodox Church of the Assumption, moved to Russkaya Street. In appearance Latin Cathedral, despite the numerous restructuring of the building and its surrounding area, elements of the original gothic architecture. In 2001, this temple was visited by Pope John Paul II, on the occasion of which a memorial plaque appeared on the building of the cathedral.

"Amadeus"

A restaurant near the walls of the Latin Cathedral, which, unlike most Lviv establishments, can hardly be classified as inexpensive. We recommend trying chicken fillet in tarragon sauce or choosing one of the traditional Lviv desserts. In the evening or on weekends, it is better to reserve a table in advance, otherwise there is a risk of being left without a seat, since Amadeus is very popular with the Lviv elite and foreign tourists.

"Galician Jewish Kneipp "Under the Golden Rose""

The famous Lviv kneipa (bar) on Staroyevreyska Street, near the Golden Rose synagogue destroyed during World War II. The restaurant, located in the heart of the Jewish quarter, prepares traditional dishes national cuisine: mincemeat, tsimes, hummus, stuffed pike. Climbing the Castle Hill, you can see the Lviv TV tower, as well as the remains of defensive structures of the late 14th century. On the top Castle Hill It is customary to declare one's love, hang up commemorative locks and take pictures on Instagram.

In the past - part of the city's defensive structures, today - a branch of the Lviv Historical Museum. On the territory of the Arsenal there is the Museum of Weapons, which has gathered under its roof a rich collection of cold and firearms, as well as military uniforms. different countries and epochs.

In the 18th century, captive Cossacks and Gaidamaks were kept in the dungeons of the Lviv Arsenal. There were also torture chambers and the dwelling of the city executioner.

powder tower

Located behind the second line of city fortifications, the tower was used as a warehouse for ammunition and gunpowder, and in peacetime as a place to store grain. Since 1959, the board of the Lviv branch of the Union of Architects of Ukraine moved to the tower premises. Around the same time, two figures of lions made of white marble were installed at the entrance to the tower.

"Kumpel"

A well-known Lviv restaurant-brewery, the name of which can be translated as "friend, friend." The atmosphere is, as the name implies, friendly. Copper brewing vats stand right in the middle of the hall so that visitors can watch the process of creating “live” beer with their own eyes. The restaurant's menu includes snacks for beer, meat dishes, home-made sausage, as well as branded cabbage stewed with honey. To the delight of the batyarov (revelers), the restaurant is open around the clock.

"Museum of Ideas"

A cultural space in which various artistic projects are born and implemented. The museum was founded by the Lviv artist Oles Dzyndra as an exhibition space and a place for the exchange of thoughts and ideas. "Restaurant on Valovaya"

A restaurant that has preserved the atmosphere of pre-war Lviv within its walls. It is very popular with locals, but tourists come here infrequently. Located on the old street Valovaya, a stone's throw from the Bernardine garden. In the tea room, you can try homemade pastries and choose from many types of collectible tea, and in the main rooms - variations on the theme of traditional Galician cuisine. For example, potato pancakes with red caviar or goulash in Cahors.

Archivnaya street

She is the street of Bergman, Fellini, Parajanov, Ilyenko and Truffaut. As part of the KinoLev independent film festival, organized by the Museum of Ideas, since 2006, the street has been annually named after another director. This year the festival was dedicated to Andrei Tarkovsky.

"Masoch Cafe"

Thematic restaurant dedicated to Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, whose monument is installed at the entrance to the restaurant. By the way, visitors are allowed to reach into the pants pocket of the bronze writer and check if everything is in place.

The interior of the restaurant conveys the atmosphere of Masoch's works: the walls are decorated with whips, whips and handcuffs, as well as erotic photographs. All paraphernalia hung on the walls, visitors can, if desired, experience for themselves. The names of dishes and drinks on the menu correspond to the spirit of the place. We recommend trying local cocktails with aphrodisiacs so that your trip to Lviv will be remembered for a long time.

"Caramel Workshop"

The caramel candy workshop, recently opened at 18 Krakowska Street, allows everyone to not only buy sweets, but also observe the process of creation and photograph everything that happens as a keepsake. Before the eyes of visitors, the workers of the "Workshop" boil the caramel mass, flavor it, tint it with natural dyes, and then form candies out of it. Only a glass partition separates the work tables from the main hall of the confectionery, so nothing prevents curious visitors from following the work of the masters. Ready-made sweets can be bought right there, in a small shop at the workshop.

Drama Theater

The building of the Lviv Drama Theatre, opened in 1842, occupies a whole block between Teatralnaya Street and Svobody Avenue. You can view the repertoire and order tickets on the official website of the theater, or purchase them right there, at the box office.

Lviv in all its glory!

What kind of comments could not be read on the forums “God forbid you speak Russian on the street”, “move around the city only during the day”, “avoid communicating with local residents" etc. Fortunately, there are many more people with common sense on the net, and I don’t regret visiting this beautiful city. Lvov turned out to be nice, very cozy and friendly. Hope you can get back into it.

A huge number of architectural monuments, museums and theaters, ancient churches are concentrated in Lviv. Cobbled streets, stylized cafes and restaurants - all this creates a unique atmosphere of the old city.

It is best to start exploring the city from Rynok Square, which is located in the very center. Rynok Square is surrounded by 44 houses of different style and time, which have undergone many restorations, but have retained various elements of Gothic architecture of the 15th-16th centuries.

In the center of the square is the Lviv City Hall, the administration building. A tower with a clock and an observation deck rises above the building, which offers an excellent view of the city.

Throughout the city there are colorful wooden booths with a telephone.

Doors, facades, lanterns, courtyards - you can endlessly walk and look at the elements of architecture.

Cafe "Old Tram" - a real tram model of the 1930s. The interior inside matches the old tram. To create the effect of movement on the screens located at the beginning and end of the tram, there is a recording of a tram ride along the streets of Lviv. In general, the tram network in Lviv is very developed.

Museum Square. Here is a monument to Ivan Fedorov - the first book printer. A local book flea market is located on the square. You can buy old books, CDs, records.

Tourism is very developed in Lviv, tourists from all over the world come here. Entrepreneurial comrades from the Holding of Emotions! Fest company opened a network of conceptual restaurants in the city. There are already eight of them in the city and they have become a bright landmark of the city.

Dim Legends is a seven-story restaurant. Each hall of the institution is dedicated to one of the Lviv legends. There is a room of time in which models of the Moon, the Sun, photographs of clocks, different time decorating the Town Hall.

On the roof of the institution there is a terrace where an old "Zaporozhets" is parked. There is also a monument to the chimney sweep. According to the restaurant's legend, the owners of the restaurant are also chimney sweeps.

From the roof you have a great view of the city.

In 1853, a kerosene lamp was invented in Lvov. This fact formed the basis of the concept of the restaurant "Gasova Lampa" ("gas" in translation from Ukrainian - "kerosene"). At the entrance to the institution there is a monument to the inventors of the lamp - Jan Zegu and Ignacio Lukasiewicz.

We have been to three restaurants of this chain. Unfortunately, I don't have photos of the interiors. But I can assure you that everything is done very stylishly and tastefully. The kitchen is incredible too.

If you walk a little from Rynok Square, then go to the building of the Lviv Opera House. We took the opportunity and went to the opera "Die Fledermaus" in Ukrainian in the evening.
