The view from the terrace of the cafe is amazing - the sea, the coast, cruise ships!

Excursions to Santorini at the best prices

Eat good news- even in such a remote corner as Santorini, there were sightseeing routes from local residents. If you are not yet familiar with Tripster, you can test its secret option: ask any question to the guide before paying.

It is hardly possible to find an island in the Aegean Sea that would compete in the beauty and mystery of its beaches with the island of Santorini. And he has no equal in the world.

No wonder Santorini ranks first in the list of the most beautiful islands. The famous Australian, Canadian, Philippine and Indonesian paradise pieces of land, surrounded on all sides by the sea, are still further away in this statistical series.

Various tourism organizations, international travel magazines and media mass media give the beaches of Santorini hundreds of awards and rank in the top ten of the best vacation spots in the world.

Two words about the coastline and sea of the island

In 1450 BC there was an eruption of volcanoes, which led to the fact that the island sank into the sea and was covered with ash. Because of this, the beaches of Santorini have such wonderful shapes and colors.

The volcanic properties of the soil gave the sand an amazing color that lures tourists from all over the planet to the colored shores.

Some will like the beaches with fine black sand, while others will choose unusually colored pebbles or red volcanic slag.

The depth of the sea around Santorini is about 400 meters, so the water here, even on the hottest days, pleasantly caresses with coolness. And you can’t see enough of the sea - turquoise and bright blue, green and almost black sea surface shimmers in the sun.

Someone wants noise and fun, while someone prefers peace and quiet, there are people who like crowded beaches, and some people really want to retire alone and wander along the deserted coast - on Santorini everyone will find suitable beach based on your preferences.

Pride of Santorini - Kamari

Kamari Beach is chosen by most of the tourists who come to the island. Once a quiet village, thanks to its beach, gradually turned into a developed resort.

Kamari is located 10 km southeast of the capital - the city of Fira. It has the European Blue Flag for the cleanliness and well-groomed water area.

This beach is very spacious, located on the flat part of the island, stretching for 8 km along the coast. The sea is deep already after a couple of meters, so children can only swim with adults.

On Kamari, black volcanic sand is mixed with small pebbles. Sometimes larger pebbles come across, by lunchtime the pebbles are very warm, you can’t run barefoot.

It is sunny here for almost 17 hours, so for lovers of sunbathing - the most suitable beach, a pair of sun loungers along with an umbrella for 6 euros - and a whole day of wonderful rest is guaranteed.

After 16.00 on Kamari sunbeds are free.
However, it is better not to save money and come to the beach in the morning to spend time here until the evening. For 4 euros you can take a boat ride to a nearby beach if you get tired of lying on your own.

On Kamari, you can not only bask in the sun and sea water, but also actively relax. For sports fans there is an opportunity to compete in badminton, beach volleyball or mini-football.

Kids can be captivated by fun rides and caring animators in a special children's area.

There is a diving club. Lots of restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops.

Getting here is easy- regular buses run from the capital and other cities of the island.
Most vacationers still prefer to take a scooter on Santorini.
Don't drive or don't like buses? An island taxi is at your service.

Review:
Ekaterina, architect from St. Petersburg
“Everything was amazing. Due to the black stones, the color of the sea is simply mesmerizing. Most the best place for a beach holiday. Will I return to Santorini and visit Kamari again? Of course."

Perissa - for lovers of nightlife

There is Mount Mesa Vuno on the island, at its foot there is a cozy Perissa beach in a small village of the same name.

If you drive from Fira to the southeast, then after some 15 km, it will seem wonderful beach. Buses run regularly, no problems with travel.

Perissa is covered with rather coarse dark gray sand. Here is an interesting entry into the water, almost along the entire coast there are stone slabs. This is frozen lava. It seems to be covered with velvet or velor, this impression is created due to the vegetation on the plates.

It’s better not to run into the sea from a run - you can slip on the stove, you need to go in slowly. The bottom is rocky, the depth starts almost from the shore, due to this combination the water is crystal clear and transparent.

The length of the beach is 7 km. There is almost never a wind on Perissa - the coast is closed by the Mesa Vuno mountain.

There are many bars and cafes, restaurants and nightclubs on the territory.

Sun loungers with umbrellas and tables cost 7 euros per couple.

But they all belong to cafes, restaurants and taverns, and if you decide to have a snack or drink soft drinks in these establishments, then the sun loungers will be free.
The food is very tasty and affordable. Drinks, hot dishes, desserts will be brought directly to the beach.

There is a diving center on Perissa. Those who love water sports sports, will be able to rent equipment and actively relax.

There is also a lot of nightlife here: clubs, discos, parties, artists come.

Review:
Konstantin, artist from Lugansk region
“All is well in Perissa. I liked the fact that there are no large pebbles and you can walk barefoot for a long time on the pleasant sand along the coast. Here you can sunbathe, play football or volleyball, and relax in cafes. Infrastructure at the highest level.”

Red Beach - here only with a camera

Wonderful views open to visitors of the Red Beach.
It acquired its extraordinary and rare beauty thanks to the red pebbles and red rocks surrounding it.

Such a fantastic combination of the brick color of the rocks and the turquoise sea with a greenish tint is popular with tourists and those who like to click cameras.

There are always a lot of people, it will not work to retire on the Red Beach. It can be so crowded that there is nowhere to sunbathe, but you can climb onto the stone islands, which are located almost at the very beach, just a few meters away.
The entrance to the water is rocky.

The Red Beach is located near the village of Akrotiri in the southern part of the island.

You can get here at regular bus from the bus station of the capital of the island of Fira or, which is rented without problems.

From the parking lot, you will have to walk a little along the rocks to go down to the beach itself, it will take about 10 minutes, you will definitely need comfortable sports shoes.

You can sail by sea on a boat or a boat (they swim every half an hour), from neighboring beaches.

The coastline is not wide, during the season sun loungers with umbrellas are placed in two rows and a cafe is open.
In the off-season, you need to take care of umbrellas and snacks on your own.

Not much entertainment- scuba diving or snorkelling, evening admiring the mesmerizing sunset and snow-white yachts sailing on the sea.

Review:

Dmitry, art club manager from Kolomna
“You have to go here for impressions. You can't do without a camera. There are such stunning views that you will not find anywhere else in life. This must be remembered forever. It is not very convenient to go down the path to the beach in summer shoes, there is no developed service - changing rooms and toilets. But these are trifles compared to what kind of picture will open to the eye.

White is for lovers

Not far from the Red Beach, almost in the very south of the island of Santorini, there is a secluded bay in which the romantic and beautiful White Beach is located.

Majestic white rocks, as if surrounded him and hid from the whole world.
On the shore is the same white sand and pebbles of volcanic origin.

This is exactly the place where there is an opportunity to retire. For this reason, White Beach is incredibly popular with couples in love.

Natural stone slabs are located in the sea near the shore. It's not deep here.

You can get to the White Beach only by a romantic way - by sea on a boat or boat. There is no pier, tourists land directly in the sea water.

There is a boat from Akrotiri, on which for 5 euros you can get to White Beach and enjoy solitude or each other's company, combined with admiring the stunning cliffs and the sea.
There is a food tent and sun loungers for rent on site.

Review:

Irina, teacher from the city of Apatity, Murmansk region
“To be alone and enjoy the amazing colors - snow-white pebbles and azure sea You should still get here early. After 10.00 o'clock people arrive. But no one bothers anyone. It is not very convenient to enter the sea, but the water is so warm that it would swim in it endlessly. This beach is worth devoting a whole day to.”

Monolithos - for families with children

In the southeast of the island there is another wonderful beach - Monolithos. The village of the same name is located immediately behind. You can get to the beach, like all others, by bus or rented transport.

You should go to this beach with small children, as there is a very convenient, gentle and long entrance to the sea, soft and fine black sand.

If the sea storms, they begin to blow strong winds raising sand into the air. But this is perhaps the only drawback of Monolithos beach.

In addition to sun loungers and umbrellas, there is a playground where the kids will have fun. Adults can play volleyball on the sports ground, sit in cafes and taverns.

Review:

Ksenia, writer from Belgorod
“With three small children, there is no better beach than Monolithos. Here you really enter the sea for a long time, and not deep. And the sand for children is pleasant, soft. My husband and I really liked the fish taverns near this beach, they bake fish amazingly. Of course, we also went to other beaches, there are a lot of impressions. But with the kids it’s more comfortable all the same on this. ”
