Adzhimushkay quarries in Kerch

Crimea, Kerch, pos. Adji-Mushkay, Bratiev Malchenko St., 36
Opening hours: from 8.30 to 16.30

A visit to the Museum of the History of Defense of the Adzhimushkay Quarries is unlikely to bring you pleasure in the traditional sense. However, despite the rather heavy sediment that the excursion leaves behind, it is a must to visit here. Adzhimushkay quarries are not just memorial museum, this is an attempt to perpetuate the memory of the heroes of the war years and keep in the hearts of the descendants the memories of their feat.

As a result of Operation Bustard Hunting in May 1942, German troops broke through the defenses of the Kerch Peninsula with lightning speed. Only part of the Soviet troops managed to evacuate, the rest were cut off and were forced to defend themselves in the Adzhimushkay quarries, they were joined by local population- in total, more than 13 thousand people went underground. The Germans completely controlled the quarries: they extended wire barriers, blew up and blocked the entrances, pumped poisonous substances into the dungeon. People were in dire need of water, food, medicines, but, despite all the difficulties, they staged sorties and tried to counterattack.

The defense continued for 170 days. On October 30, 1942, the Germans were still able to capture the quarries and captured the remaining soldiers. Of the more than 13 thousand defenders, only 48 people survived. A year later, the Soviet army liberated the Kerch region along with the Adzhimushkay quarries. In fact, the siege of Adzhimushkay was hopeless and could not bring any victory, it only helped to pull back the forces and restrain the offensive impulse of the German army.

In May 1967, the Museum of the History of Defense of the Adzhimushkay Quarries was opened, and in 1982, a memorial to the heroes of the Adzhimushkay Quarries was opened. Today it is the most popular and visited object of the Kerch Historical and Cultural Reserve.

The tour of the quarries takes just over an hour and includes several expositions. At the waterfall, tourists will learn how the besieged obtained water, in the gas shelter they will see shelters in which people hid from gas attacks, in the operating room they will get acquainted with the conditions in which the wounded were treated. In addition, visitors will be taken to the barracks, field kitchen and garrison headquarters.

Decoration of the city - Balaklava Bay located between high rocky mountains. It is connected to the sea by a narrow winding strait of 1.5 km, and since the rocky shore makes several turns at the entrance to the bay, from the side high seas the harbor is not visible at all. September 2013. Crimea. The Sadovski family rests with pleasure and benefit in Sevastopol in the Blue Bay. Sea, sun and... trips to the sunny peninsula continue.

It is even difficult for a person who has never been to Crimea to imagine how many sights of a completely different kind are here - natural, cultural, historical, I would even say - prehistoric. But what is especially nice is that there are a lot of places that you can show your child.

Anna Sadovskaya tells where they went, and where she advises you to definitely go if you come to Crimea with children.

Advertising - club support

This time we are going to Belogorsk, where the famous Taigan safari park is located. From Sevastopol to the park 125 km. way.

And now about everything in detail.

The lions themselves. Of course, you won’t be walking with the lions – there are such iron flooring-paths on top that you walk on, but such a “free” view gives an amazing feeling: believe me, watching a lion here and in the same Moscow Zoo is two completely different things. What can I say about lions - most of the time they lie and bask in the shade of trees, but I would advise those who are indignant to read about their physiology at the beginning (how much does your murka sleep a day? I have a feeling that my dog sleeps 22 hours a day, yes and two does not sleep only because of walks) than to show the absence of "gladiator" fights.
We saw a majestic gait, and an imposing rest, and begging (strange as it sounds for lions), and a couple of slaps from the older ones to the younger ones. But if on the street the thermometer tends to go up, you have to go either in the morning or in the evening, otherwise you can stay at the hotel. In general, Leo (and along with him, we) enjoyed the lions.

Does it really walk like a cat?

And this is begging. The fact is that Zubkov (the owner of the Taigan safari park) did not fight the desire of people to feed the lions. If you want - feed, but buy meat in the same place, in the safari park. The lions, of course, know this, so they beg for pieces, but not intrusively and with dignity.

Well-deserved "prey" of a lion

Sweet Dreams

In the park you can take pictures with lion cubs and cubs. Yes, on the one hand, this is the exploitation of babies, on the other hand, do you know how cool they are? They meow like kittens, and the fur is soft, soft. A picture costs 50 hryvnia per animal, the number of frames is limited only by reasonable limits. Naturally, we held both a tiger cub and a lion cub in our arms.
What can I say in defense of Zubkov: when we were there, nurseries were built here. So, perhaps, the photo will be replaced by the opportunity to observe the kids. Although we stayed at the two courtyards with the little ones for a very long time, watching them.

Giraffe Zanzibarchik. Born in this park. Parents - photo above.

This is only a small part of the collection of animals, the construction of the enclosure continues, and I think that the collection will only grow.
The territory of the park is very well-groomed, beautiful, sometimes, however, slipping into pomposity (the same golden lions), but overall it's cool. Thanks to Oleg Zubkov for this miracle, I would give him 5 and many, many pluses, for the very idea, its implementation, thoughtfulness of details. So it's worth a visit Necessarily! Personally, I will definitely go again and try to get to the feeding of the lions (10 am).

And, of course, to be in Belogorsk and not see the famous white rock (Ak-Kaya) is impossible. This is a landmark of the Crimea, a natural monument of republican significance. By the way, a huge number of films were filmed here - "The Leader of the Redskins", "The Headless Horseman", "The Witches' Dungeon", "The Apocalypse Code", "The Man from Capuchin Boulevard" and many others.
There was no time to climb the rock itself, so we admired it from below.

Village "Volnaya"

Well, then we stopped at the horse base Stanitsa "Volnaya" (http://stanica-volnaya.simf.com.ua/). We saw a shield near the Taigan, called, and drove off. The base is located in the Belogorsky district, in the village of Aromatnoe. What do you remember about the trip. First - there was a nuisance - my camera sat down. Honestly, this happened for the first time in two years.
Second. What could be better than horseback riding? boundless expanses with beautiful mountain panoramas. NOTHING!! A fitting end to a wonderful trip.

Tabun is back

Pigs on the free range

We talked to our guide on a walk, and since my husband loves koumiss, we found out that it is produced nearby in Zelenogorsk. Well, of course, we couldn’t not stop by (as a result, the circle with the arrival in the village and the exit to the main highway turned out to be only 20 kilometers).
We found a shop, bought it, but since I am not a fan of koumiss, I decided to take cheese for myself. My husband dissuaded me from cheese, I took Adyghe. But intuition said - do not leave, I return, I buy cheese. So, this was the golden mean - everything in moderation, so the piece “flew away” in the evening in about fifteen minutes. We regretted not taking enough. As I write, my mouth waters from the memories. So you will be nearby - stop by and buy both cheese and koumiss (my husband praised), I recommend it.

And, of course, we went almost every day to Sevastopol. Let me tell you about three of the most interesting places that are remembered.

Sevastopol

Children's park "Lukomorye"(http://www.lukomorie.net.ua/). If you have children, visiting it is a must. In addition to various attractions (both paid and free), the park has mini-museums: the Museum of the Indian, the Museum of Marmalade and Healthy Sweets, the Museum of Soviet Childhood, the Museum of the History of Ice Cream, Crocodile farm and a contact zoo. We visited three of them and a zoo corner, but to be honest, animals walk around the park.

Crocodile farm. There are crocodiles, lizards on the farm, but reptiles are reptiles, I don’t have as many emotions when I contact them as I do with other animals. So it's sort of interesting, but not ah.

Museum of Soviet Childhood. Remember the machines from our childhood: Sea Battle, shooters, rocking chairs, so here it is. Oddly enough, the child liked the Sea Battle. And I remembered my childhood, such nostalgia went. And as the son said: “Well, you didn’t have such wooden toys.”

Indian Museum. A very interesting museum: they tell about the Indians, the history of chocolate, give it a try in liquid form, you can hold cocoa beans, cocoa butter in your hands, musical instruments Indians, and even play on them, plus free photos in any costumes. After the tour, there is an opportunity to make three archery shots. At the end of the program, an Indian name certificate is issued (all included in the cost of the tour). Indeed, very, very cool.

Well, myself a park- very beautiful and diverse sculptures, as mentioned earlier, rides, a donkey walks, Vietnamese pigs. What would I add - perfect place for families with children. This is how children's parks should be done. We want to return and go to two more unvisited museums, and of course, plunge into our Soviet childhood again.

Well, I couldn’t help but show you how such a Hare from “Well, wait a minute”?
