From Pattaya to Koh Chang on your own. Is cashless payment possible? Taxi from Bangkok to Trat

Transportation to Koh Chang varies, but since it is still an island, no matter which option you choose, in any case it will include a ferry, even if it is a plane (the nearest airport is located on the mainland) or a transfer from hotel to the hotel (in this case, the minibus with you in the cabin will be transported by ferry and thus take you to the threshold of the selected hotel).

How to get from Moscow?

It is absolutely impossible to get to Koh Chang directly from Moscow and other cities of the world, since, as already mentioned, there is no airport on the island. If you can get to the nearest available (in the province of Trat, on the mainland) from countries such as Malaysia, Japan and some others, then from Moscow and other CIS countries you can only go to Koh Chang through Pattaya or Bangkok.

A flight from Moscow to Bangkok or Pattaya takes about 9 hours, from St. Petersburg - about 11 hours. From some major Russian cities, you can only get to Thailand with transfers. In this case, count on the road at least at 15 - 16 hours. The second part of the journey will depend on which method and transport you choose.

How to get from Bangkok?

  1. Bus, minibus transfer or individual minibus

There are many points in Bangkok from where transport departs to Koh Chang. The most popular of them are:

- Ekkamai (East Bus Station Terminal): it will be the easiest way to get to Koh Chang from this bus station, as buses leave from here almost every 20-30 minutes from early morning until midnight. The schedule can be easily found on the Internet. It is also easy to get to this bus station in Bangkok, as it is located at the metro station of the same name. Bus transfer time - 5-6 hours, the cost of one trip is about 250 baht;

- Victory Monument, from where quite a lot of transport departs in all popular tourist destinations. Today, this place is considered the unofficial bus station of Bangkok. The cost of a minibus from here is about 350 baht, the travel time to the ferry is up to 6 hours. There is no traffic schedule from here: they leave according to fullness, so you usually don’t have to wait long;

- Bangkok's Khaosan Road area: the easiest way to go from here is for those who rested in Bangkok and decided to go further to Koh Chang. There are many travel agencies in the Khaosan Road area where you can buy a shuttle to the island. Even some hotels can offer this service to their guests. The cost of the transfer is quite different - from 400 to 1,000 baht;

- minibus platform Suvarnabhumi airport: one bus number 392 runs from here to the pier, however, only during the period of high tourist season. The price of such a move includes a trip to the pier, a ferry crossing, as well as a minibus to the hotel. The cost of the trip is from 400 baht, the total duration of the entire journey is up to 8 hours;

— MoChit( north terminal): from here, transport does not depart as often as from the East Terminal, but still here this direction quite popular. Most often, tourists come here to go to Koh Chang, landing at Don Muang Airport or arriving from Chiang Mai. The cost of the trip is about 250-270 baht, the travel time is the same 5-6 hours. The timetable from this bus station can be found on the websites of carrier companies: The Transport Co., Cherdchai Tour, Thanakawee Tour, whose buses constantly run in the direction of the pier to Koh Chang.

Any transport that goes to Trat (the capital of the province to which the island of Koh Chang belongs) is suitable for single tourists. If you arrived in Trat on one of the usual public buses(not a transfer, not a private minibus), then feel free to transfer to the songteo to the ferry. The cost of such a trip is up to 100 baht, and the ride takes no more than 30 minutes. There is no schedule or route for songthaews, so stop any one and name the desired direction.

  1. Taxi

This method is not at all budgetary, since its cost can reach 5,000 baht for one car. True, it is the most comfortable, because you can rent a taxi right at the airport.

This expensive method also includes not budget transfers organized by small carrier companies, where the cost depends on how many people will gather at a specific time. This option will be more or less tolerable in price if there are at least 5-7 people in your direction.

  1. Car rent

This option is suitable only for active travelers who do not stay in one place for a long time and are ready to go anywhere and as much as they want. A car is rented by those who, in addition to Koh Chang, plan to visit any other resort places and cities.

  1. Airplane

Another non-budget way to travel to Koh Chang. Of course, in just an hour you will cover the distance from Bangkok to the airport of Trat province, but the cost of such a quick transfer is not the cheapest - about 3,800 - 4,000 baht.

Upon arrival at the airport, you should “catch” a taxi, songteo or use the services of a public minibus that go to the ferry. Further on the ferry you overcome the distance to the island by sea, and then again use the services land transport.

How to get from Pattaya?

1.Minibuses, bus

Minibuses from Pattaya are perhaps the most popular way to get to Koh Chang. Tickets for them can be freely purchased at almost any travel agency. The cost is about 300 baht (excluding the cost of the ferry).

Bus travel is a real adventure for a tourist. By bus, you can get to the bus station in the province of Trat, and then you should transfer to the songteo to the pier. Buses from Pattaya to Koh Chang must be caught at the intersection of two streets: Sukhumvit and Central. Such a bus leaves Pattaya twice a day: the first around 06.00 am, the second around noon. Of the minuses of such a trip, one can note too long a journey (at least 6 hours), since this bus stops very often, but the ticket is also a budget ticket - the cost does not exceed 200 baht.

2.Transfer

This method is a standard group transfer (not the cheapest, but very convenient), which allows you to easily get from anywhere in Pattaya to your chosen hotel on the island of Koh Chang. In another way, this travel option is called "Mall Tour". Transfer tickets are sold through travel agencies and they cost from 600 to 1,000 baht.

  1. Taxi

By taxi, the easiest way to get to Koh Chang, but the cost of such a trip is appropriate and can reach 5,000 baht. It is better to negotiate with a taxi driver about such a long trip on your own and personally, or by using a fixed cost for services and a special taxi, ordering it via the Internet.

Ferries to Koh Chang

As it has already become clear, to get to the beaches resort island without using the ferry is impossible.

There are several piers on the mainland, from where you can get to one of the piers of the island on the available ferries, and from each of them the travel time varies, although they are located quite close to each other. For example, from Koh Chang Pier, ferries leave every 30-35 minutes and are also on the way for about 30 minutes. The schedule of their movement is on the site in front of the pier. Ferries sail from Center Point Pier for about an hour and depart only once an hour between 06.00 and 19.00 daily.

The cost of the ferry crossing is 80 baht one way.

Remarkably, on Koh Chang itself, you will find more land transport to get to the hotel at the Koh Chang pier.

When planning a trip to Koh Chang, be sure to keep in mind that according to the schedule, the last ferry to the island leaves around 19.00. If you don’t have time before this time, you will have to return to Trat and look for a hotel for the night, and continue the trip in the morning.

How to get from Phuket island?

From Phuket, the most comfortable way to get to Koh Chang is by plane to nearby airport, and then the most previously described convenient way. From Phuket to Trat province, Bangkok Airways planes periodically run.

As for a completely land travel from Phuket, the distance of about 1,200 kilometers between these islands (on land roads) will still not be to everyone’s liking, and anyway, from Phuket you can’t get to Koh Chang without passing ferry crossing. If you drive in a rented car, then the approximate travel time is about 17 hours. It is this and the fact that there are no direct scheduled buses between these points that make such a trip by no means popular.

Hello friends. Today I will tell you how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang on your own. A few words about Pattaya. It is a big bustling city with thousands of tourists scurrying around. We don’t understand how it is possible to relax in this city, but this is our opinion.

We specifically stopped by to see what it was and realized that we didn’t want to rest here at all. But the shopping here is good.

After such a fuss and noise, many tourists begin to dream of silence, clean beaches With clear water and quieter entertainment. That's when you can go to the island of Koh Chang, which is located 270 km from Pattaya.

We had enough and two days for sightseeing and shopping. Next - planned on the island of Koh Chang. If you also want to change the noisy city for sunny island and leave Pattaya, now I will tell you how to do it.

Transfer from Pattaya to Koh Chang

The distance from Pattaya to Koh Chang is 270 km - it takes about 4 hours to drive, so this option is the most convenient and comfortable, although not the most budgetary. I think many will agree with me that it is better to pay extra 100 rubles and drive in comfort than to save money and spend extra time on the road. It's better to spend an extra hour on the beach.

A transfer to Koh Chang (otherwise the Thais call it a tour) can be found anywhere in Pattaya. You will meet offices with offers on the streets of the city and in hotels. A comfortable minibus will pick you up from the hotel and take you to your destination. On the way, the minibus makes several stops where you can have a bite to eat and stretch your legs. Travel time is about 4 hours. The most famous tour agency Pattaya-Ko-Chang-Pattaya 35 Group Pattaya.

There are several transfer options to Koh Chang (prices per person). Prices and schedules are taken from 35 Group Pattaya. Other companies have similar prices:

1. Pattaya - ferry Ferry Pier to = Koh Chang (ferry included) one way = 400 baht
2. Pattaya - Ferry Pier ferry to Koh Chang (ferry included) both ways = 720 baht
3. Pattaya - hotel on Koh Chang (ferry included) one way = 550 baht
4. Pattaya - hotel on Koh Chang (ferry included) round trip = 1050 baht

Minibuses go to Koh Chang 3 times a day at 07:00 and 09:00 in the morning and at 13:00. From Koh Chang to Pattaya at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.

There are transfer options where you are taken only to the mainland pier. In this case, then you will need to buy a ferry ticket on your own and take a songteo (local taxi) on the island at the pier, which for additional fee will take you to the beach and hotel. Read more about Koh Chang piers and songteo prices. Read about the beaches of Koh Chang.

I recommend buying tickets at once in both directions. This will save some money and time. If you are not sure about the return date, return ticket can be bought from open date(open ticket). When you know exactly the day of departure, call the office (at least two days in advance) where you bought the ticket and tell the date of the return trip. You will be booked a seat in the minibus. The office does not speak Russian, so the option for those who know English language (on the most basic level).

Friends, now we are in Telegram: our channel about Europe, our channel about Asia. Welcome)

Taxi Pattaya Koh Chang

The option is not budgetary, but the most expensive possible and the fastest in time. If comfort is above all for you, then this is your option. The cost of the trip will be approximately 3000 baht. But this is only up to the pier on the mainland. Travel time 3.5-4 hours.

Transfer to Koh Chang

This option is cheaper than a taxi.

You can order a transfer to Koh Chang by this link or online via the form below. At the time of booking, you need to pay about 15% of the transfer cost, pay the rest in cash to the driver.

How to save on a taxi? Payment is per car, not per person, so if there are 3-4 of you or more people in the car, then the cost of the transfer is distributed to everyone and becomes pleasant.

Bus to Koh Chang

Most a budget option but less comfortable. You can take a bus in Pattaya and get to Koh Chang. The route of this bus runs along the Sukhumvit highway.

What is the inconvenience. The bus runs only 1 time per day (departs from). He arrives in Pattaya at about 6 am; to the stop where the Sukhumvit highway intersects with Central street cities.

In the best case: the bus will drop you off at the pier.

Other options:

  • drop off on the highway near the pier (you will need to take a songteo to the pier)
  • will take you to the bus station of the city of Trat (you will need to take a songteo to the pier).

The price of a bus ticket will be 2 times cheaper than the cost of a transfer (about 170 baht). But other than that, you will need to pay separately for the songteo.

From the highway to the pier 30-40 baht

From Trat bus station to the pier 70-80 baht

Add the ferry fare: 90 baht, plus songteo from Koh Chang pier to the beach (from 50 baht).

In total, at least 400 baht per person will come out.

Of course, in this case you will be able to get acquainted with how the local people live, how they interact and communicate with each other, how their bus stations are arranged and well-equipped.

Of these methods, we chose 1 - we booked a transfer through a travel agency, deciding that it was better to spend 400-500 baht, but get to the island in comfort.

Where to stay in Pattaya

Now there are many housing options in Pattaya and appeared on the service Airbnb. We have written how to use this service. If you do not find a free room in the hotel, then look for accommodation through this booking site.

The desire often arises among tourists who have spent some time in conditions of Pattaya and somewhat tired of her unbridled merriment and, in general, of the noise of the big resort town. In this regard, Koh Chang is the exact opposite of Pattaya and it is not surprising that the number of people who want to spend several days on quiet island With magnificent beaches and tropical vegetation is constantly increasing. This article talks about the most convenient and popular way to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang.

THE CONTENT OF THE ARTICLE (click on the link for a quick jump)

Transfer Pattaya – Koh Chang

Although organized transfer Pattaya– Koh Chang is not the cheapest way to get to the island, it is recommended by everyone experienced travelers once convinced of its benefits. And a very small overpayment for the specified transfer compared to other methods described at the end of this article and also allowing you to get to Koh Chang from Pattaya is fully compensated by convenience and simplicity. However, first things first. The advantage of the transfer is that, having paid once, you no longer have to worry about anything during your journey from Pattaya to Koh Chang.

Today in Pattaya it is easy to find many tourist offices, who will gladly take care of your moving to the island of Koh Chang, however, prices are not the same everywhere and for the same path you can pay both 400 Thai baht and 500-600. This is due to the fact that not all offices themselves are engaged in the delivery of passengers on the route Pattaya - Koh Chang: many are only intermediaries. As a result, the transfer cost for clients of such companies will be higher than for tourists who contacted the transfer organizers directly.

The company with the best prices to date and an excellent reputation is 35 Group Pattaya, whose office is located on the third street in Pattaya, near the intersection with South Street. If you go from the beginning of Walking Street along South Street, then you need to go through several small intersections, i.e. Third Street is not the next intersection after Second Street, as many people think, but much further, but I have always walked without problems.

Your guide should be a traffic light at a larger intersection than the previous ones and a small repair of motorbikes in front of it, located in the building on the right in the direction of travel (although it is useless to describe establishments and signs in Pattaya, as everything is changing rapidly). At this intersection, you need to turn left and go through several buildings until you see, after passing a 4-story pink building with balconies, again on the left side the appropriate sign (see photo) and a glass door. By the way, on road signs the street is designated as Pattaya Tai (in Latin). Since the company moved to this office only last year, the program has a currency exchange in place of the Group's office 35.

Before we enter the office, I advise you to take off your shoes (you will see a lot of shoes in front of the door and remember this). At the office you will be asked where you want to order a transfer (Pattaya - Koh Chang), the desired date and time of departure. They will also ask for the name of your hotel and its address (if the hotel is small and little known, take a business card with the address to the reception so that the driver can find you before going to Koh Chang). I also advise you to leave your phone number in Thailand. The company makes three flights on the route Pattaya - Koh Chang per day: at 07:00 and 09:00 in the morning and at 13:00.

Cost of transfer Pattaya - Koh Chang in 2013 and early 2014 was 400 baht, while the indicated price includes a ticket for the Trat-Koh Chang ferry (which costs 80 baht when purchased separately). If you plan to return from Koh Chang to Pattaya (and not to Bangkok, for example), I advise you to immediately book a ticket and reverse side, i.e. transfer Koh Chang - Pattaya. This will save you another 100 baht (roundtrip transfer costs 700 baht). You can get a return ticket with an open date (tell the girl in the office that you need an “open ticket” (open ticket)). There are some nuances with the return transfer, which are described below on the page.

After paying for the tickets, you can breathe easy: no more actions will be required from you in order to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang, except for being at the right time in right place. At the appointed time, you will be picked up directly from the hotel and taken in a comfortable Toyota minibus with a leather interior to the pier in Trat, from where ferries depart for Koh Chang. Having received ferry tickets upon arrival at the pier from an employee of 35 Group Pattaya (they have a small office there), it remains to go through the waiting room and wait for the ferry, go on it and overcome the distance to Koh Chang.

Since the pier on Koh Chang is located on the east side of the island, and most of the hotels and beaches are on the west side, you will have to use songteo. To the nearest one, which is given in a separate article - White Sand Beach - the trip will cost 50-60 baht, to Kai Bae Beach - 100-150 baht (depending on the time of day and the total number of passengers in the pickup). By the way, even when ordering a transfer Pattaya - Koh Chang, you can order your delivery directly to a specific hotel on the island. Of course, it will cost more, like 550 (or 600) one way, but someone will find the option convenient, especially if you managed to save a lot using the hotel search form and compare prices for them in various booking systems, which is located a little below.

I draw your attention to the fact that the company's reputation is really good, and not only among Russian-speaking tourists, so it is increasingly necessary to order a Pattaya-Koh Chang transfer in advance. I myself encountered a situation where I had to postpone a trip to Koh Chang for one day due to the fact that all the seats on two morning flights on the day chosen initially were sold out. Therefore, if you want to guarantee a cheap trip to Koh Chang from Pattaya, order a transfer in advance.

Return transfer Koh Chang - Pattaya

If a return transfer is ordered, be sure to ask the 35 Group Pattaya employee who will meet you upon arrival at the pier for a receipt for the return ferry ticket. For some reason, the girl refused to give me such a receipt right away, I had to demand more insistently, indicating that there was a ticket with an open date back. If the return transfer was originally booked for a specific date, just arrive a few hours before leaving for Pattaya at the island pier, exchange your ticket receipt and board the ferry.

If the reverse transfer Koh Chang – Pattaya with an open date, you should definitely call the company's office two days before the planned departure from the island and book a seat in the minibus. If this is not done, there may not be free seats on the bus and you will have to look for other options for returning to Pattaya and overpay for it. A small clarification: on the phone, employees speak only English (as in the company's offices), so it is advisable to know a little this language and be able to connect a few words in it to explain what you need (you will need to indicate the number of the transfer contract, the date and time of departure from Trat to Pattaya).

The ticket receipt is exchanged at the window at the entrance to the pier on the island (before leaving for the mainland). You can get to the pier in the same way as when arriving on the island - using songthaew. By the way, it is better to arrive at the pier in advance so as not to be late for your return transfer. Arriving on a ferry to Trat, you must again contact the office of the 35 Group Pattaya company, from the doors of which buses depart and show your ticket. Often, at the same time, a bright sticker with the name of the company will be stuck on your T-shirt so that you do not get lost.

If the minibus of the company arrived at the time you chose, but they don’t want to let you in, don’t panic and swear, “losing face”. Another one will arrive soon and you will definitely be taken to that hotel in Pattaya, from where you were originally taken. On the way both there and back, the minibus calls a couple of times at the gas station, where you need to get out of the minibus. You can just stretch your legs, or you can have a bite of local food (from the top), eat fruit, or go to the 7/11 store (not available at all gas stations) and buy beer there. Just don’t confuse the minibuses, there are usually a lot of them and all white. Therefore, pay attention to the name of the company (highlighted in the photo with a yellow marker) and remember fellow travelers.

Why transfer Pattaya - Koh Chang is more profitable and convenient
bus

More accessible at first glance ways are Shuttle Buses passing through Pattaya to Trat. Their cost is about 200-220 baht. It would seem that the amount is almost two times less than the cost of an organized transfer to. However, if you add 80 baht for a ferry ticket to this amount, you already get about 300 baht. Plus you need to get from the hotel to Northern bus station in Pattaya or the Sukhumvit highway (10-20 baht for a songthaew or much more for a taxi), find a suitable bus (and this is also not easy if you use the Sukhumvit highway passing through Pattaya, which you need to stop yourself or ask to do this local residents also for a small fee).

In addition, from Trat itself, you will need to get to one of the ferry piers on your own, using local songthaews for this, which will again cost you about 50 baht. In other words, the amount is similar, plus or minus 30 baht, while there are much more difficulties, especially if there are problems with English. If you order a transfer in both directions, then this method turns out to be not only the fastest, but also the cheapest, and the method with regular buses cannot compete at all.

Also remember that a trip of about 270 km in a VIP minibus with comfortable leather seats will in any case be faster and more comfortable than a regular one. intercity bus, which goes to Trat for about six hours with many stops. Decide which way get from Pattaya to Koh Chang more convenient, anyway you. I wish you a successful and comfortable trip!

I recently posted detailed description In addition, and now I want to write separately about the transfer from Pattaya. If you didn’t read the link above, then let me remind you that Koh Chang is an island, so you first need to go to it by land, then take a ferry, and on the island itself go on the route to the required beach. What Pattaya wins over Bangkok is that it is full of transfers to Koh Chang.

There are 3 ways to get to Koh Chang from Pattaya: by transfer, on your own by bus and by taxi. For reference, the distance between Pattaya and Koh Chang is about 270 km.

Group transfer by minibus

This method is the easiest and most convenient for those without a car. And, to be honest, I wouldn’t consider others, I don’t see much point in saving an extra 100 rubles. So what's so great about transfer? It is also sometimes called a tour, they say. tour pattaya— Ko Chang. And it is good that you will be taken from hotel to hotel, that is, from a hotel in Pattaya to a hotel on Koh Chang. Moreover, you can immediately buy a return ticket, and this is really a tour. You can buy a transfer at any travel agency. You will be offered a price tag of 600-900 baht one way, including a ferry ticket.

As a rule, all local travel agencies sell the services of several transport companies, so there is not much difference where to buy. You can also buy via the Internet, the same will work.

Payment by bank card or PayPal, electronic ticket, very convenient.

One of the companies, 35 Pattaya Group

The lowest price tag is offered by 35 Group Pattaya. I indicated their office on the map, it is located on Pattaya Tai Street (South Pattaya). The only thing is that for this you will need to go to their office, intermediaries will sell their tickets more expensive.

The minibus will cost 400 baht, including a ferry ticket, one way to the Koh Chang Ferry Pier. A ticket to the hotel on Koh Chang costs 550 baht one way, including the ferry ticket.
The minibus runs 3 times a day: 7:00, 9:00, 13:00.
Travel time is 3-4 hours to the pier, and then what happens with the ferry.

You need to buy tickets in advance, at least a day in advance, otherwise there may not be places. You can also go to other places on 35 Group Pattaya. In addition, Koh Chang is taken to Samet, Koh Wai, Koh Mak and Koh Kood.

If you are going to return to Pattaya from Koh Chang, then buy a return ticket immediately, it is with an open date (you will need to warn about two days before returning), because there is no office 35 Group Pattaya on Koh Chang, it is located near the pier Koh Chang Ferry Pier on the mainland, and not the fact that there will be places. Accordingly, if you do not buy a return ticket in advance, then you will have to buy transfers on the island at local travel agencies at a higher price.

Transfer rates Pattaya - Koh Chang and back

Taxi Pattaya - Koh Chang

The most expensive option. I think everyone knows how to take a taxi and there is no need to explain anything. Go outside and look for a car. Alternatively, order private transfer in any travel agency. The cost is somewhere around 3000-4000 baht per car, if you go to the pier. Travel time is 3-4 hours.

Another taxi option is - (ferry included), which can be booked in advance online. The car will be entirely yours, without other passengers. It’s convenient that there are no problems, you don’t even need to leave the house. For the price, this is especially advantageous if you are more than 4 people. Then the sum will be divided among all. It costs as much as a taxi caught on the street.

Car rental

My favorite option. IN Lately I always and everywhere take the car. Don't depend on anything absolute freedom. Given that car rental in Thailand is inexpensive, it is available to everyone.

You need to rent a car through, then the price will be approximately 2 times lower than directly. This is an intermediary broker that issues offers from all international distributors. That is, no small companies and individuals who can then throw.

On Koh Chang, although the roads are narrow in places, it is quite convenient to drive there in a small car, such as a Honda Jazz or Toyota Vios. I traveled all over the island for 2 weeks and no problem.

Bus Pattaya - Koh Chang

The most budgetary way, more complex and not suitable for everyone. Its essence boils down to the fact that you need to take a bus from Pattaya to the bus station in Trat, transfer there to a minibus that goes to the pier, then take a ferry and swim to the island, take a minibus on the pier of the island and get to the desired beach.

How to get from Trat to the pier and how to get around on the island of Koh Chang, I have already written in a general article. And I described everything about ferries in the article. So it remains to tell how to get to Trat from Pattaya.

You need to go to the Sukhumvit highway at the intersection with Central Street and catch a bus there. It is advisable to ask the locals what they are sitting in the offices bus companies or at motosai, where it is better to do it and when the bus will be. They'll help bring him down. There is no bus station from where he goes, he goes a couple of times a day, around 6:00 and around 11:30. He is a regular and picks up everyone along the way. Travel time is 5 hours, ticket price is about 180 baht.

Also on this bus you can not reach Trat and get off along the road. There is a desk there on the highway, from which minibuses go to the pier. But IMHO it will be difficult for beginners to do this.

Pattaya is definitely a fun city. But how many people in the world would like every day to be a wild holiday? Sometimes you really want to take a break from a hyperactive lifestyle, be alone with yourself and virgin nature, or just sleep off.

And the best place to do it is Koh Chang. It is the exact opposite of Pattaya. No wild entertainment, only quiet beaches, swaying in the breeze of slender palm trees and the measured whisper of the surf.

There is another reason why many tourists are wondering how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang. Global warming is reflected in the territory of Thailand in the El Niño phenomenon. It manifests itself in the unpredictability of the weather. For several years in a row, prolonged downpours have been pouring during the dry period, and during the rainy season, the sun shines over the island of Koh Chang and not a drop of precipitation falls.

It may be a disaster for Thailand's agriculture, but not for tourists. After all, prices in the so-called rainy season remain low. In this article we will tell you in detail how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang different types transport.

    Distance between points

Thailand is famous for its island holidays. Pattaya and Hua Hin - definitely good resorts, but Koh (that is, the island) Koh Samui, Phangan, Tao, Phuket, Phi Phi and Chang are incomparably better. In mainland coastal cities, life is in full swing. But Phuket will give you the same pleasures - the most big Island countries.

Chang is the second largest "Ko" of the country. But on it you will not find cities of dubious joys, which are full in Patong, and a street like Bangla Road. On this island you will not be entertained by a transvestite show. But you can fully feel like Robinson Crusoe - after all, most of it is occupied by rocks overgrown with jungle. And the beaches there are a hundred times cleaner than in Pattaya.

How to get to Koh Chang on your own? Our article will be devoted to this issue. In the meantime, we will say that the island, whose name translates as "Elephant", is located southeast of Pattaya. The distance between the points is 251 kilometers in a straight line.

But air traffic between Pattaya and Koh Chang no. Therefore, all other routes, even by sea, will be longer. Let's see how best independent traveler get to paradise island.

    By air or by sea?

If you are an avid fan of air transport, you can return from Pattaya to Bangkok and fly domestic airlines to the province of Trat, to the city of the same name (on board - about 40 minutes). It is located on the mainland.

To get to Koh Chang, you need to take the songteo bus to Lgaem Ngop Pier. The trip lasts a quarter of an hour. There you need to take a ticket for the ferry to Koh Chang. This ship will take you to the island in half an hour.

Most hotels on Koh Chang are within a 20-minute drive from the pier where the ferry docks. As you can see, this option - the road to the capital flight, a trip to the pier and swimming - is not only the most expensive, but also the longest.

As for the way by sea, it is theoretically possible, but in practice it is available only to happy owners of yachts. If you are not in a hurry, but proceed from the principle “how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang in the most comfortable way”, then the whole journey will take two days. But there will be many impressions: fishing, night squid fishing, sunset and dawn in the sea in the province of Chonburi.

What is a combi ticket in Thailand

In the Kingdom of Smiles, the transfer of tourists to various islands is well-established and perfected to the smallest detail. It usually includes a train (or bus) and a ferry (or speedboat). You can buy a combi ticket from any point to the islands at the travel agency.

Such a ticket costs more than if you yourself paid for the fare at the box office of the station, bus station and on the pier. But you do not need to fool around with questions about how to get from the Trat station to the pier and what to do if the train is late, etc. The passenger transportation industry works like a Swiss watch.

A tourist is glued (literally, on clothes) with a tag, according to which employees pull him out of the crowd of other travelers, literally take him by the handle to the desired minivan, put him on a ferry and in such a gentle way, like a precious cargo, they deliver him from point A to item B.

What is the advantage of such a transfer? You do not need to think about how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang - the company takes care of all the worries. You can also arrange to be picked up directly from your hotel and taken to the address you need on the island.

    Cons of a combo ticket

High price- the main disadvantage of such a service. The cheapest transfer will cost the traveler 500 baht (973 rubles). This is if you buy a ticket from the direct service provider - "35 Group Pattaya". The office of this company is located on the Third Street of the resort.

The rest of the travel agencies are only intermediaries who reserve a place for you in the company's minibuses. Their combi ticket (bus + ferry) will cost from 600 to 900 baht (1170-1750 rubles) one way. Another disadvantage is the early departure from Pattaya. Buses depart from the city from 6 to 9 am.

And finally, the most important thing: there is no office of 35 Group Pattaya on the island. How to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang, in this way, is only part of the problem. You have to think about how to return. But what if you are already on the island? You can buy a transfer from intermediaries - travel companies.

But if you do not want to overpay, get a return combi ticket back in Pattaya. It also costs 500 baht (973 rubles). Moreover, such a ticket can be bought with an open date.

Passenger transfers involve a three-and-a-half-hour bus ride to the pier, followed by a 40-minute swim. Before that, a collection of tourists from hotels can be organized. Further, travelers are waiting for another transfer around the island of Koh Chang to the hotels.

The same hassle-free way to get to the place is a taxi. The car will take you from door to door. You can order a taxi from Utapao or directly from the city. The price also depends on the destination. It is most reasonable to order a taxi to Trat Pier.

You will enter the ferry as pedestrians. And on the island you can hire another taxi. The whole journey will take about four hours. The fare depends on the capacity and class of the car. But Taxi Pattaya- Pier Trat will cost at least 6900 rubles.

    bus and ferry

For tourists who want to be independent in all movements in Thailand, we will give detailed instructions how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang. Buses to Tratu depart from Nakonchai station.

This station is located on Sukhumvit Road, a hundred meters from Central Pattaya stations. Tickets can be purchased directly at the box office or online. The fare to Trat is only 200 baht (390 rubles)

Thus, the bus and ferry is the most budgetary way to get to Koh Chang. Tourists assure that you can not rush to the bus station. Cars pick up all the “voters” along the way.

Regular buses run every day, but only in the morning, from 6:00 to noon. These are very comfortable cars, with air conditioning and soft seats. But regular buses make so many stops along the way that the journey to the city of Trat will take not three and a half hours, but all five.

Ferries to Koh Chang from Trat

An independent tourist has an advantage over those who paid for the transfer. He can choose the pier from which to go to the island. There are two marinas in Trat. From the pier Laem Ngop start and "package" passengers of minivans.

But independent tourist he may well buy himself a ticket for the ferry at the box office of the pier. It costs 80 baht (156 rubles), and in both directions - 120 (234 rubles). The journey will take about 50 minutes. Ferries run from 6 am to 7 pm at hourly intervals.

The second pier is called Ao Thammachat. Songteos also run there from the Trat bus station. From Ao Thammachat, ferries run more often - every half hour. These fast boats cover the distance between the mainland and the island in 25 minutes. But the ticket also costs a little more - one hundred baht (195 rubles) one way.

The first ferry from Ao Thammachat departs at 6:30 am and the last one at 7 pm. Do not worry that you will have to spend the night right on the Bang Bao Pier on Koh Chang. By the arrival of each ferry, a number of minivans, taxis and songthaews line up at the pier.

How to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang by bike or car

In Thailand, many tourists prefer to rent a vehicle. It's cheap and convenient. This is especially true for motorbikes, which are not afraid of traffic jams and traffic jams.

If you have already become accustomed to driving on the left in Thailand, you can try to get to Koh Chang with a rented vehicle. To do this, you need to overcome 230 kilometers to get to one of the piers of Trat.

The whole journey will take about four and a half hours. On the road leading to the southeast, there are often signs to Trat.

What should be considered by the motorist

It is not enough to know how to get from Pattaya to Koh Chang by car. If you want to cut through the island on an iron horse, you need to deliver it there. This is possible, but requires additional investment.

Transportation of a car on ferries is paid separately. A one-way service costs one hundred baht (195 rubles). Since you will be taking the car back, it is wiser to buy a double ticket for 180 baht (350 rubles).
