How to get from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet. How to get to Phan Rang from Nha Trang. Entertainment. Where is more fun
In this post, I will talk about transport from Nha Trang to Mui Ne or Phan Thiet (it is located 5 kilometers away), about my experience of traveling on Vietnamese sleeperbuses (bus with a sleeper), and share information where to buy cheap tickets for this miracle (bus) .
I'll also tell you more comfortable ways independently moving from the resort capital of Vietnam to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. Sometimes it is much more profitable, and 1000 times more convenient, not to go by bus, but first things first.
If after reading you still have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments. I will definitely answer your every question.
Distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne (to Phan Thiet), how long to go
The distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is displayed on this map, it shows the route of the trip. Google helpfully drew us two routes, one straight to Mui Ne, and the second through Dalat. If you have free time, then be sure to look into this mountain town.
You can get to Dalat either on your own by bus, or buy a group tour (exact cost at the link). Read about the TOP Nha Trang tours in my detailed post.
Google maps says that the distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is a little more than 200 kilometers, in fact, there are about 250 kilometers. But this is not so important if you are driving on public transport and not on a motorcycle or moped. Some of my friends overcame this path on a moped, after which everyone was dissuaded from such a trip. :)
It is not so important that there are only 250 kilometers between Nha Trang and Phan Thiet, and it seems that it can be overcome in just 3 hours. In Vietnam, the bus will travel 250 kilometers in 6 hours. This is probably due to the speed limit on the roads, but you should also take into account the time for stops and a possible lunch break (approximately in the middle of the trip).
There is a railway connection between the indicated Vietnamese cities, but the train does not travel much faster, the fastest one will take you to Phan Thiet in 4 hours.
If you choose a taxi, you can get there in 3 hours, this is perhaps the most fast way He is also the most expensive.
Transport between Nha Trang and Mui Ne, prices, travel time and comfort level
In this part of the post I will tell you about the main types of transport that you can use during independent travel between Nha Trang and Mui Ne.
View | Price | Travel time |
---|---|---|
Bus (book in advance) | up to 10$ | 5 o'clock |
Train | from 10$ | 4 hours |
Transfer (taxi) | from 100$ | 3 hours |
Buses from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
The most convenient and cheapest way to get from the beaches of Nha Trang to the windsurfing mecca of Mui Ne is by bus. There is also a train service, but trains come to Phan Thiet (address of the railway station in Phan Thiet: ga Phan Thiết Phong Nẫm), which is five kilometers from the tourist village of Mui Ne. you need to initially understand what locality you need.
Important! In high tourist season, tickets should be ordered in advance (at least a week in advance), there are a lot of people who want to leave, and there are a limited number of tickets and seats on the bus. If there are no free tickets for the date of interest, then try playing around with the dates.
Buying a bus ticket is very simple, here is a Russified site, where you can buy tickets for Vietnamese buses and trains. The prices are cheap, even with a small commission, but there is one trick, without knowing this one you can not find the tickets you need.
You should enter the names of cities in Latin, and this despite the fact that the site is completely Russified. If you enter the name of the cities in Russian, then the site will display a message: “We did not find anything similar,” but it’s worth typing in Latin and everything will be found right away.
- Nha Trang- this is Nha Trang;
- Phan Thiet - Phan Thiet;
- Mui Ne - Mui Ne;
- Dalat - Dalat.
The price of a ticket for a bus with berths along the Nha Trang Mui Ne route is approximately $10. This is the most cheap transport, cheaper only by hitchhiking.
Pay attention to this photo, it has all the answers to your questions. For example, we select the point of departure Nha Trang Hanh Cafe, and the destination Mui Ne Hanh Cafe. This means we are going by bus from Nha Trang to Mui Ne and Hanh Cafe is the name bus company, so he will bring the bus to his office.
If the site didn’t work out, then go to any travel office in Nha Trang and say a simple phrase “to Mui Ne pliz, one ticket”. If you are too lazy to go anywhere, then in hotels and guesthouses tickets for local buses ordered directly at the reception, the overpayment will be minimal.
Several bus offices were discovered in Nha Trang:
- The Sinh Tourist - website thesinhtourist.vn - location in Nha Trang at 90C Hung Vuong St.;
- Hanh Café - website hanhcafe.vn, located in Nha Trang at 10 Hung Vuong Street;
- Phuong Trang (or FUTABuslines) - website futabuslines.com.vn, located in Nha Trang at 7 Hoàng Hoa Thám.
Features of Vietnamese buses
Vietnam has its transport features, which you should get used to and do not resist, then your trip will be interesting and comfortable. Read this section of the post carefully, and you will have no questions left. In fact, local buses are a very convenient invention, especially sleeper basses. I try to move on them.
Sleeper bass or seated
When buying a bus ticket, you should take into account the features of the Vietnamese buses, namely what kind of seats it is equipped with (seated or sleeping).
- Sitting Bus (Sitting Bass) - a bus with seating that is common to all;
- Sleeping Bus (Sliping Bass) is a very convenient invention of mankind with lying places, somewhat reminiscent of a railway carriage.
Bus departure point from Nha Trang
As a standard, the bus starts from the place where the office of the transport company is located, and not from the shop where the ticket was sold to you. In such cases, a transfer from the hotel to the bus itself can be arranged - this is standard for everyone resort towns almost all over the world, so Nha Trang has its own rules. But with the transfer there may be overlays, read about it further.
Any train, in any country in the world, is much more comfortable than buses. Vietnam has Railway, but local trains connect only major cities. Thus, the route from Nha Trang to Mui Ne will lie through Phan Thiet. In addition, before railway station should be taken by taxi or bus. This is the only minus of local trains.
The price of the trip will depend on the train, on the speed of its movement, on the class of the car (there are cars with improved comfort) and on the time of day. You should focus on $ 15 for a trip from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet. You can buy a ticket on the above site, in the photo you can see what the names of the stations look like.
There are trains going directly to Phan Thiet (Ga Phan Thiết station), such trains will bring you to the city center. You can use the passing train, they make a stop at the Ga Mương Mán station nearest to Phan Thiet.
The main thing here is to understand whether the selected train stops at an intermediate station, or follows it in transit. In this case, the city is 10 kilometers away, which can be overcome by bus, taxi, or hitchhiking.
Taxi from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
If you are used to comfort and value your time, then the best option there will be a taxi ride. Taxi in Vietnam is common, but the service is very expensive. The price of a prepaid trip (I recommend this option) from Nha Trang to Mui Ne will cost you about $ 100, if you take a car on the streets, you can save a little (the difference will be $ 10-15), or you can run into a swindler (this is not uncommon in Vietnam) .
You should be especially careful in large cities and on popular resort X. About how a local motorcycle taxi driver bred me, read the link.
If you order a taxi “from hand”, then you should look very carefully at the money that you give to the driver, and what he returns to you in the form of change (this is one of the crown taxi driver scams). Here I described the main tricks of taxi drivers with Vietnamese money, which the locals are willing to use against foreigners.
As I said earlier, taxi prices in Vietnam cannot be called low, even in comparison with Moscow and St. Petersburg. Local carriers charge for boarding, for dropping off, for waiting, for luggage, and God knows what else. Add to that the opportunity to be "warmed up" with surrender.
Considering all of the above, especially if the trip is long, then I recommend ordering a prepaid transfer (via the price link). In this case, you reduce the risk of payment to zero, since payment is made on the site. If the trip tripled you, then you can give the driver a tip, but he has no right to take any additional money from you.
If the trip is short, then you can take the car anywhere, but you should remember my warnings.
My experience of traveling by bus from Nha Trang to Mui Ne
The next morning at the appointed time, of course, there was no transfer, on hand was a receipt with payment and a phone number. I call from the reception the specified number, they answer me that they say it is impossible to understand, I hand the phone to the hostess of the guesthouse.
After a calm conversation between the hostess of the guest house and the representative of the bus company (I think so), I understand that everything will be ok. I am sitting, worrying, watching the awakening outskirts of the Vietnamese resort town. Five minutes later, a shabby minivan arrives with the same driver, we rush through the streets of Nha Trang on this trough as if we are trying to escape from napalm. Wow, looks like we did it.
When buying a ticket, no information about the class of the bus was reported, and it’s good that there wasn’t. In front of me is a brand new air-conditioned sleeper for 140,000 dong.
There are 3 longitudinal rows of reclining recumbent seats in the passenger compartment of the bus, but the chairs still do not fully fold out, but a small angle remains, so it cannot be called a true sleeper, but the thing is very convenient. The arrangement of the seat-beds is as follows: 2 rows on two sides at the windows of the bus, and one in the center, on the second tier as well.
There is a warm blanket and a pillow at each seat, the blanket was very useful, during the trip the air conditioner worked, so I asked the carrier to turn it off, no one was going to turn off the air conditioner, and I pulled another blanket from the next empty chair and the long-awaited happiness came. The sleeper bass bed is designed in such a way that you can put your things at your feet, my small 20 liter backpack fits perfectly there.
The bus belatedly sailed from Nha Trang and sailed through the expanses of Vietnam. Some people always admire Vietnamese views, even if only a garbage can is seen from the window, I will not argue that Vietnamese roads are very picturesque in places, but the road from Nha Trang to Mui Ne seemed insipid to me. First the industrial outskirts of Nha Trang, after rice fields, then villages and so on.
The route goes along the sea no more than 10% of the way, so it’s not very picturesque, specifying that Mui Ne is the end station of the bass, I fall asleep, but soon they wake me up and offer to use a 20-minute stop, which is very handy, if it’s three sleeper bass, but limbs are still swollen.
I consider an intermediate stop just for visiting the toilet, since the bus stop is not long and ordering food, and then hastily ramming it into yourself is a thankless task.
If I had known earlier that Mui Ne could be reached by sleeper, I would have traveled by night bus, and I would have saved the budget for the hotel and would have slept on the road.
An airport is a place where a person arrives on a new land for himself. When choosing a tour to a country of interest, they first of all look at the flights departing there, evaluate the distance from the hotel and other subtleties.
Vietnam international airports on the map

How long does it take to get to Nha Trang?
ways to get to the city or your hotel a bit:
Getting to Phan Thiet
Phan Thiet well known to tourists beautiful beaches attract everyone more people. It is also popular with active lovers - in Phan Thiet you can go surfing, explore the underwater world.
Distance from Nha Trang airport to Phan Thiet: 243 km. The journey will take a little over four hours.
You can get to:
bus. If you chose to travel by bus, you will have to make two transfers. First you will take a bus to Ho Chi Minh City (it is important to know that there are buses until 12 noon), from there you can go directly to Phan Thiet. Let it take about 5 hours.
But on such a bus is worth a ride, believe me! Because it is equipped with beds, in English - sleep bass. In addition, there is air conditioning, a toilet and other conditions for a comfortable trip. A ticket for such a miracle bus costs 7 dollars.
- train. There is a morning train and an evening train from Na Trang to Phan Thiet. The cost is 16 dollars. When choosing a train, specify where it will stop. And remember that the train does not stop in the city itself, but 15 km from it. So you have to take a taxi.
- Taxi. This method will cost a tourist a lot - more than a hundred dollars. Many travelers do not recommend, because the traffic is the same, and you will have to pay dearly.
Vietnam is a country of sun, smiles and beautiful beaches. But as in any country, certain rules must be observed on its territory. What, you will be prompted by a memo issued at the airport of arrival. Besides:
- When going to Vietnam, get a Russian-Vietnamese phrasebook or, if you do not know English well - Russian-English;
- Better yet spend on a taxi with a fixed fee. It takes a very long time to get by public transport;
- Get medical insurance;
- Put in first aid kit remedies for diarrhea and ointment from insects;
- Drink only bottled water. Vietnam has bad water;
Important! Don't try to hitchhike. Locals rarely pick up fellow travelers, which means you will waste your time.
- Exchange currency you can right in the airport building, there is an acceptable exchange rate.
Have a nice trip!
This is interesting:

Fanrang is Not Big city, located about 100 km from Nha Trang. Tourists come to this city, first of all, for a beach holiday.

Probably, a trip to the nearby salt fields with the city will be interesting. 400 hectares are reserved for salt mining.
The largest salt production is controlled by our compatriots.
Otherwise, there is nothing to do in Phan Rang except for the beach and walking. The main conditional advantage of Phan Rang over Nha Trang is relatively less rain and a calmer sea.
In fact, this is very conditional and not always the case. And given that Phan Rang has fewer attractions compared to Nha Trang, for people prone to travel, Phan Rang is not the best place.

Nha Trang – Mui Ne – Phan Thiet
For many compatriots, Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are inseparable points, but there is a difference between them.
Phan Thiet is a city that vaguely resembles Nha Trang, but simpler (more boring). Mui Ne is a district of Phan Thiet,
which is located 6 km from Phan Thiet. Mui Ne is a kind of village with one main street where all the restaurants, shops and hotels are located.
Why do they go to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne, and not to Nha Trang? The answer lies in the fact that in Mui Ne, compared to Nha Trang,
there are hotels on the first line of the sea. As you know, in Nha Trang, the beach is across the street from almost all hotels in the city.
Mui Ne also attracts by the fact that there are excellent conditions for different types of surfing. That is, there are good winds and waves for this sport.
But there is also a minus for hotels on the first line. Due to strong waves, most hotels have a concrete fence.
Very often, the sea comes under the very edge of this concrete fence, which is why the beach is not visible at all, and you immediately go down into the sea from this concrete fence.
The most interesting things to see nearby are Ta Ku mountain, sand dunes.

What better Nha Trang or Phan Thiet, quite new resorts on Russian market tour industry, let's figure it out! So, what is there interesting, where to go to rest in Vietnam? Today we will talk, perhaps, about the two most popular resorts in Vietnam called Phan Thiet and Nha Trang.
Previously, very often we heard that many vacationed in Thailand. Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Samui - the resorts have long been familiar, everyone has heard of them. Every year, more and more often, one hears: “And we were on vacation in Vietnam!”.
So, let's start getting enlightened. Where do tourists go to rest in Vietnam? What to choose Phan Thiet or Nha Trang? Both resorts are located on the coast of the South China Sea, the distance from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet is on average about 200-250 km. At first glance it seems to be very close, so significant difference no, but that's not entirely true.
Beaches
Firstly, Nha Trang is a city where one of the the best beaches. Most of the hotels are built in the city center, no matter how "star" the hotel has, the beach is across the road.Phan Thiet is also a city, only the sea itself and the hotels are not located in Phan Thiet itself, but, as it were, on the outskirts of the city, closer to the village of Mui Ne. Therefore, holidays in Phan Thiet and Mui Ne are one and the same. And the rest here is more calm, homely.
This is where the main thing lies. difference between Nha Trang and Phan Thiet! In the last 90% of hotels it is on the first line, you go to the sea through the hotel, without crossing the road!In general, crossing the road in Nha Trang is not particularly annoying. And when you are lying on the beach, the noise of the road does not really distract from relaxation, as the wind blowing from the sea takes away all the din from the beach. But during the day, merchants scurry around (a little, but still), locals swim (since the beaches in Vietnam are municipal throughout the territory, but simply common!), In the evening, there is nowhere for an apple to fall on the beach, as the locals rest there, arrange gatherings etc. At sunset, the promenade, on which the beach is located, is illuminated by lanterns.
In Phan Thiet, things are different. The beaches are also public, but due to the fact that they are far from the road, in the evening, except for tourists and hotel security guards, you will not meet anyone there. You can safely sit on the sun loungers or in the restaurant at the hotel overlooking the sea!
In the afternoon in Nha Trang on the beach a lot local residents, in Phan Thiet you rarely see locals on the beach, only tourists walking along the sea.And in Phan Thiet, and in Nha Trang, almost every hotel offers its guests free sunbeds, towels and umbrellas.
Prices
We have been in Nha Trang and Phan Thiet, so I can objectively say that, of course, Phan Thiet is cheaper, but not much, by 5-7% maximum. And prices largely depend on where you eat. If you choose by price, then there is no significant difference.
Fish and seafood
Perhaps, citizens from all over the world go to Vietnam to try the gifts of the sea, rivers and lakes and other inhabitants of our planet. Here they eat everything that swims, runs, jumps, etc.
The range of all sorts of goodies is rich in both Phan Thiet and Nha Trang. But there are some differences, for example, in Nha Trang I did not see scorpions on the menu, and in Phan Thiet there is no beloved sea grape!
Excursions
By and large, you will not be bored either there or there, there is where to see and go. The only advantage Nha Trang has is only because it is located there winpearl island, where you can go even every day and not get bored.
Entertainment and night life
The Vietnamese are such a people that they go to bed early and get up early. It is customary for them to lay down on the side at about 22.00-23.00 and get up at 5 in the morning. Such a way of life. Therefore, the nightlife is not very stormy, but still there.
Here Nha Trang wins, as there are more than 2 times more places for those who like to dance at night or eat. But in Phan Thiet, there are 2-3 places where you can go at 3 am if you don’t sleep. And, by the way, in Phan Thiet, although there are fewer nightly entertainments, all the establishments are located right on the seashore! So you dance, and even through the loud music you can hear the sound of the waves, and the sea breeze is pleasantly refreshing.
Where is better, Phan Thiet or Nha Trang I can't say we liked both there and there. More than once we will definitely visit both Nha Trang and Phan Thiet.
If you are traveling on your own, you can visit both popular resorts in Vietnam at a time. Moreover, there are problems with How to get from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet, will not arise, the easiest way is either a bus, which is more economical, or a taxi, which is more comfortable and faster.
It's up to you to decide! But anyway, you won't regret it! Phan Thiet and Nha Trang- these 2 resorts in Vietnam are worth a visit!
Today I will briefly tell you about the resort cities in Vietnam. I am a photographer, living in Vietnam all winter and already well versed in local geography. By the way, I'll be glad to capture your happy moments on vacation;) But now it's not about that.
Going on vacation to Vietnam, many are faced with the question - which city to choose? Therefore, I will briefly talk about two resort areas in Vietnam that are so popular with Russian tourists. Why about two, because there are three cities? In fact Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are very close to each other.. As proof, a screenshot from Google maps (on the right). In fact, Phan Thiet or, as it is correctly written, Phan Thiet is a city, and Mui Ne is a fishing village. tourist area with hotels and beaches is located along the coast of Mui Ne Beach between these settlements. Below I will try to highlight the positive and negative features of each resort.
Holidays in Nha Trang pros and cons.
Nha Trang is the center of tourism in Vietnam. The city is located in the south-central part of the country and is the capital of Khanh Hoa Province. About 400 thousand people permanently live in Nha Trang. It has everything that a tourist could possibly need! But people who love silence may lack solitude and peace.
Pros of Nha Trang:
- The airport is an hour's drive from the city, direct flights from different cities of Russia.
- Developed infrastructure:
- many hotels with different levels prices.
- bars and restaurants open 24/7.
- supermarkets and shops - an opportunity to buy popular goods - clothes made from natural cotton, oriental ointments and cosmetics, bags and wallets made of crocodile, python skin, and more.
- Cho Dam market - an opportunity to bargain for all kinds of goods.
- transport for every taste - rental of mopeds, taxis and rickshaws, public transport, boats in the port.
- A huge number of attractions and excursions:
- mud and mineral springs Ai-resort (I-Resort) and Thap-ba (Thap Ba).
- to the island of VinPerl - Asian Disneyland, where there is everything - cable car over the sea, water park, oceanarium, attractions, slot machines, singing fountains, dolphin shows and much more!
- to the south and northern islands with stunning white sandy beaches, the opportunity to try diving, fishing and catching tropical fish.
- ancient temples and pagodas and even a catholic cathedral.
- There will be no problems with the language - there are many Russians here, and the Vietnamese already often speak Russian.
Cons of Nha Trang:
- Dirty city beach. If you live in Nha Trang itself, then the sea will not please you. Unpleasant dirty sand, sometimes a strong wave and quite quickly depth. The beach is not suitable for swimming with children. In Nha Trang, you can swim without worries only by staying in hotels on the islands (which is quite expensive) or by purchasing a day trip to the islands.
- The bustle of the big city. Do you dream of leisurely quiet rest? It is unlikely that Nha Trang will suit you. After all, here is a big city with the noise of the streets and music in the bars until the morning. Not everyone wants to relax like this.
Holidays in Mui Ne - Phan Thiet pros and cons.
Phan Thiet is pretty Big City in the south of Vietnam with a population of about 350 thousand people, but completely non-tourist, there are no beaches and hotels. When they talk about the resort of Phan Thiet, they still mean Mui Ne Beach - a zone of hotels and beaches not far from fishing village Mui Ne (Mui Ne or among the Russian population of Mui Ne and Muinevka). Between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet about 22 km. From Ho Chi Minh to Mui Ne about 200 km, from Nha Trang to Mui Ne about 230 km.
Pluses of Mui Ne / Phan Thiet:
- Long and wide stripe sandy beach. The beach may not be clean and white everywhere, as winds and waves often drive garbage from the sea to the shore, but walking and relaxing on Mui Ne beach is definitely pleasant.
- Most of the hotels are located right by the sea. There is also a second line with more cheap hotels but they are also very close to the sea.
- There is a whole community here aquatic species sports - surfing, kiting, windsurfing. A variety of attractions on the water are also available for non-professionals.
- A huge number of Russian population. Russian tourists have chosen this resort even before Nha Trang. You will be surprised by Russian signs and menus in Russian in the restaurant. And often the business owners are really Russians who moved to Vietnam in search of a more leisurely and comfortable life.
- There are restaurants, bars, massage parlors and other establishments here. But from much less than in Nha Trang.
- There are attractions:
- In close proximity to Mui Ne there are Poshanu Cham Towers and Fairy Stream Red Creek.
- If you go on a tour further from the city, you can see other places: the Ke Ga lighthouse, Mount Taku and the statue of the reclining Buddha, red and white dunes.
Cons of Mui Ne / Phan Thiet:
- There is no airport here. Tourists usually fly to Ho Chi Minh Airport. In general, getting there is not difficult, and usually the flight and travel cost no more. more expensive than Nha Trang, but longer in time.
- Tourists may complain that they are bored here. That there is nowhere to go with children, that in the evenings there is nothing to do but sit on the beach or in a restaurant. But can this be considered a minus if you consciously choose a quieter and more relaxing holiday?)
- There is no cheap Asian shopping here. Of course you can buy in stores resort area souvenirs, as well as clothes and accessories, but the price will be higher.
Choose your holiday according to your preferences. By the way, tour operators have recently been offering combined tours when half of the vacation takes place in Mui Ne, and then also a few days in Nha Trang. Consider this possibility as well. And do not forget to save moments of happiness on vacation in photos, I will be happy to help you with this - write down the phone number! Photographer Natalia Samoilova +79520078888 (WhatApp).
