You didn’t catch yourself thinking that you would like to be in the place of the hero Tom Hanks from the melodrama Cast Away (find yourself on an exotic island, but, of course, only for a week or two, and not for many years: “Robinsonades” are not for us what)? Do you want to arrange a romantic "escape" from the gloomy autumn days? Or spend an unforgettable honeymoon? Or maybe you and your loved one dream of reviving your feelings and experiencing something unimaginable? Save from the routine and turn pastime into a fairy tale will help the most romantic islands in the world.

The most romantic islands in the world: choose the best!

white and blue splendor

In our ranking of the most romantic islands, this one occupies special place- the easiest way to get to it, it is located in Europe. But this is truly a wonderful corner of the planet! After all, the sunsets of the Greek Santorini have long become a legend. When at the end of the day the Cretan Sea begins to play with all shades - from pink to almost crimson, it seems that you are in paradise. This ancient island arose after a powerful volcanic eruption - hence such an interesting relief. Here everything seems dazzling and bright: white houses nestled right on the rocks and sky-blue "covers" of churches, scarlet and lilac flowers of bougainvillea, lapis lazuli of sea waves. What can a magical island offer you besides admiring nature and sunsets? Tasting fine local wines, visiting ancient buildings, beaches with unusual (volcanic) black sand and, of course, diving and swimming in gentle water.

Wonders of Hawaii

For many years in a row, this particular Hawaiian island has been recognized as the best by authoritative foreign sites. Maui boasts paradise beaches and spectacular natural wonders. Tourists are delighted with the local resorts, excursions to a cowboy farm and a sugar cane plantation and climbing mountains that are not at all high (again, in order to admire sunsets or sunrises). For honeymoon this is what you need, here romance is knocking on the door of everyone who arrives on a tropical island.

French Polynesian diamonds

One hour flight from Tahiti over the Pacific Ocean - and you will find yourself on one of the most romantic islands in the world - Bora Bora. Its lagoon resembles an artist's palette, dominated by different shades of green and aquamarine. You can fall in love with this part of French Polynesia at first sight: beaches of perfect beauty with white fine sand are gradually giving way to emerald waters, in which fish of various colors and sizes “animate” Coral reefs. Integrity is valued here privacy, and no one will disturb your privacy in an overwater bungalow, and at the same time, the standards of hospitality and comfort in Bora Bora have long since reached perfection.

If Bora Bora is more famous, then Moorea Atoll is not so popular with honeymooners and romantic travelers. But not because this island is worse, it's just less "hyped". The nature of Moorea is pristine and enchanting, and the scent of flowers and vanilla is in the air. From Tahiti here - a stone's throw, less than 20 km, so getting there is not so difficult. You will be amazed by the dramatic landscapes of tropical thickets - a real jungle, like from stories about Mowgli, and the local lagoons are so bright blue and peaceful! If you climb the Magic Mountain, you will have a stunning view of the surrounding slopes of bays and beaches.

Pearl of Thailand

It is not for nothing that Koh Lipe is called the “pearl of Thailand” - this is one of the most unspoilt places on the planet and, perhaps, the most beautiful of the local romantic islands. A secluded island hidden in the waters of the Andaman Sea will mesmerize you with the charm of coral reefs and exotic underwater fauna. Therefore, diving and snorkeling are very popular here. Turquoise waves, colored corals and luxurious beaches gave the island another name - it is often called the "Maldives of Thailand". There are three beaches on Ko Lipe, together they form a giant boomerang. True, it is not so big as to rent a car, the whole island can be bypassed in an hour. The island got into the "tourist orbit" recently, so it's still so quiet and calm here.

The most "promoted"

And here are the Maldives already mentioned by us, consisting of 1190 coral islands (of which 200 are inhabited, and 80 are resorts). This archipelago in the Indian Ocean does not need detailed advertising - everyone has heard about it and seen it - at least in television programs about travel. The Maldives is good because here it is also quite possible to find solitude in high-class apartments - and this is used by stars and newlyweds. You will be able to admire gorgeous beaches and charming coral islands from the land, and also to get acquainted with the beating of the "heart of the sea": night club, located under water, will allow you to plunge into a hitherto unknown world. By the way, one of the islands of the archipelago is shaped like a heart!

Another often shown on TV heavenly haven for lovers - Seychelles - 115 islands indian ocean. Virgin beaches, amazing rock formations, glimmering coral reefs and eye-catching landscapes, coupled with an interesting wildlife make Seychelles one of the favorites of our top most romantic islands in the world. This is an ideal place for water sports - windsurfing and diving. Even diving into minimum depth(with snorkelling equipment) you will see the beauty of the local fauna. Endemic biodiversity (including long-lived giant tortoises, the lesser black parrot and the Seychelles palm) is carefully preserved in the national parks and reserves of the Seychelles. Here it is allowed to relax on all beaches, even those belonging to hotels - completely free of charge.

Coral forests and luminescent bays

The second largest island of Puerto Rico, Vieques, located between Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, will amaze you with its many lagoons, beaches and coves. Each of them contains nook for a good time together. This handsome man is separated from the Puerto Rican coast by only 11 kilometers. local national reserve stands guard over endangered species, you will see sea turtles, bottlenose dolphins, rare fish, spotted rays. Several diving centers make scuba diving between the lace-like coral reefs comfortable, the sea is calm here, there are many quiet backwaters for diving. The mangroves of Vieques are luxurious. And when dusk falls on the earth, some bays magically transform: thanks to the microorganisms living in them, the water glows, as if there are thousands of blue light bulbs at the bottom.

Exclusive and chic!

So we come to the most romantic and most exclusive islands in the world. Even if we don’t have to walk through them, we will at least know that they exist! Located in the French West Indies, St. Barthelemy (otherwise known as simply St. Barth) is a playground for the rich and famous. The grandson of the famous oil tycoon David Rockefeller in the middle of the twentieth century was the first the mighty of the world bought land here, so the island began to turn into a paradise for millionaires. One of the last major transactions occurred in the fall of 2009. It was the purchase by Roman Abramovich of a plot with bungalows, pavilions and tennis courts for $90 million. Gourmet restaurants and designer boutiques coexist on the island with exotic iguanas and blooming cacti. Spectacular white sandy beaches, dive sites, yachts and hotels attract more than 70,000 well-heeled tourists every year, especially on New Year's Eve.

If on San Bart they say to tourists: “Welcome!”, then in order to get to the Tanzanian island of Mnemba, you need to make an effort. It belongs to a private person - and the owners decide who they "have to court." Therefore, despite the fact that the African Mnemba is one of the most romantic islands, it is used for elite tourism. Virgin territories cause true reverence: the most beautiful island is surrounded by a stunning oval reef. This protected area with green sea turtles, humpback whales, dolphins and whale sharks splashing in the waves. Swimming with these large animals is an exciting adventure! Of course, for a romantic getaway you need to pay a "round" amount, but a vacation on Mnemba is worth every cent spent - it is exclusive, exotic and unforgettable.
