What to do in Munich. Oktoberfest is a large-scale city event. Rain is not a hindrance to children's entertainment

We arrived in Munich in the morning. A whole day ahead to explore the city, go shopping (that's what we came for) and sit in the famous Munich pub. Sightseeing in Munich started from the city center, which was once surrounded by a fortress wall. We took the train to Isartor Square, where the medieval Isar Gate Isartor is located. This is the most ancient building in the city, more or less preserved to this day. Along Tal street we head to Marienplatz (Marienplatz).

On the way, we stop by the Oktouberfest beer festival museum. Accidentally saw a sign on the corner of the building. It is located along Tal Street towards Marienplatz on the left side. On the building you will see a sign with a museum index.

Unfortunately, the museum itself was not included, it was closed. And in general, they noticed that there were practically no people on the streets, and all establishments, including shops, were closed. It was kind of alarming right away. Everything became clear when we arrived at Marienplatz. We were warned that some festivals and holidays are constantly taking place, and, of course, before the trip, we carefully studied all these events via the Internet. At the beginning of June, nothing of the kind was planned. Looking ahead, I will say that our shopping was covered, as my child put it, with a large copper basin. All shops in Munich, including most of the souvenir shops, were closed. It's sad, but it only remained to examine attractions in Munich and admire the city itself.

Empty pubs in Munich for the holiday.

What to see in Munich.

Juliet. Milan's gift to Munich. This monument is located near New City Hall.

Main Munich city

Church Asamkirche (Asamkirche) on Sendlingershtrasse. This church is dedicated to the Czech Saint John of Nepomuk, his sculpture is visible above the entrance to the church.

The interior decoration of the church.

The building of the new City Hall.

The first Munich attraction that we were able to see was. Once upon a time, knightly tournaments were held on this square. The people on it turned out to be like on Red Square during fireworks. On this day, some kind of religious holiday was taking place in Munich, and the entire square was decorated with flags and posters. The church choir sang, and from all the streets groups in national costumes headed by Catholic representatives flocked to the square. Our rest and shopping in Munich continued.

The building of the New Town Hall is located on Marienplatz, on the tower of which one of the main attractions of Munich is a clock with a fight and rotating figures. Unfortunately, it was not possible to see how the figures come out of the clock due to the fact that there was pandemonium in the square.

The building of the Old Town Hall.

Then we headed further along the streets of the old city. I wanted to see as much as possible in Munich. I was impressed by the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin, among the people Fraunkirche. The grandiose building is rightfully considered the tallest building in Munich. The cathedral is easy to see from the Marienplatz square. This cathedral is famous for the fact that inside it are the tombs of the Bovarian princes. You can climb the Fraunkirche tower and look at the city from a bird's eye view.

Then we went to the famous Feldherrnhalle. In front of this arch, they heard Russian speech, it was a Russian tourist group. We stopped, settled down and listened to the story about this place. The hall of the Bavarian kings, this is the name of this monument, it is located on Odeonsplatz.

What did you hear from the guide? In 1923, near this arch, the Nazis clashed with the police. Subsequently, during the reign of the Fuhrer, a sign with the names of the dead National Socialists was hung on the wall of the building, and every resident of the city was obliged, passing by, to raise his hand in a Nazi greeting. It is said that most of the inhabitants of Munich bypassed this place.

Next to the Feldherrnhalle arch is amazing beauty Catholic Church Theatinerkirche, built in honor of the birth of the heir to Prince Ferdinand of Bovar and Princess Henrietta Adelaide. By the way, they have been waiting for the heir for 12 years. This event took place in the 16th century. In 1663 the church began to be built. Currently, the Theatinerkirche is the tomb of Princess Hanrietta and forty-nine other members of the dynasty. There will be an opportunity, be sure to go inside, a stunning snow-white spectacle.

This is a place that has been preserved in its original form. One can imagine what Munich was like in the distant days of the reign of King Ludwig IV. The first owner of the Old Court was Duke Henry the Lion. A turret is visible on the building, a legend is associated with it. It is said that when the duke was an infant, he was stolen by a monkey who lived in the court and carried him to the top of this tower. Now in the Old Court is nothing more than a pub, which is called the Monkey Court. The pub is very good, the beer is excellent and you can even have a bite to eat in it.
What else to see in Munich? We did not have this issue. You can just walk around Munich and admire ancient architecture. Unfortunately, all this is 90% remake, restoration, which, however, does not prevent Munich from being one of the most attractive cities in Germany. However, shopping in Munich did not work out for some reason, however, we did not regret it, we saw so many interesting things in return.
Late in the evening we decided to gradually advance to the famous Munich beer house Hofbräuhaus. I used to see it in the photo and heard a lot about it, so we were going to visit it and drink Bavarian beer anyway. They found a pub quickly, everyone knows how to get to it in Munich, even tourists.

Entrance to the main Munich beer hall "Hofbräuhaus".

I'm not a big beer drinker, but Hofbräuhaus I can afford a glass in hot weather, no more, so when the waiter came up, we ordered one glass of light beer and a couple of sausages. I ordered white sausages, and my friend ordered dark smoked sausages. There were not many people, apparently the locals were still at the festival. In a huge hall, on wooden benches, mostly tourists settled down. Just a couple of minutes later, our beer appeared on the table, and ten minutes later the waiter brought our sausages. By this time, our beer was drunk somehow by itself. I had to order more, but just in case they ordered one liter each. The beer is great, easy to drink and not noticeable.

In the beer hall "Hofbräuhaus".

The waiters understand English. Girls walk along the benches and offer various beer pretzels. A brass band in national Bavarian costumes plays in the center of the hall. The setting is conducive to relaxation. Imagine what happens here when the hall is full. A company of English women was resting next to our table, who three times went to be photographed with the musicians, but we did not dare, apparently we did not drink so much.

Another famous Munich beer "Löwinbräukeller"

Actually, this is how our day in Munich went. Shopping did not work out, alas, but we got to know such a person quite closely. amazing city Eastern Germany . We liked Munich. We plan to come here again in order to go around as many shops as possible. I heard from many that it was in Munich huge selection goods and prices are quite democratic. I will definitely write about it next time.
