Where is the best place to relax?

Going on vacation to one of notable countries South-East Asia, many travelers are primarily interested in a relaxing beach holiday, and secondly - diving. And although Malaysia is able to provide resorts for every taste, beaches and the sea still play the main role.

Choosing places for a beach holiday, points to be taken into account:

At the same time, regardless of the choice, in every corner of the country, tourists are treated with respect and understanding, trying in every possible way to leave only positive impressions.

Popular beaches of the state

How nice to escape from the bustle of the city to be on sandy beach, soak up the warm rays of the sun and plunge into sea water one of the resorts in Malaysia.

  • most popular the beaches of the island of Langkawi are considered, for example, Burau Bay, Cenang, Tanjun Rhu. Unlike Borneo, you can swim here all year round without fear of storms.
  • An overview of the beaches of Langkawi in the following video:

  • Deserves a big rating blue lagoon beach located in the Perhentian Islands. The only negative is the lack of palm trees, but even without them, there is enough rough vegetation on the beach.
  • Next in ranking penang island beach- a real gem among the rest of the beaches.
  • The absolute harmony of this place attracts tourists who come to Malaysia exclusively for a beach holiday.

  • Borneo beaches have a lot of positive qualities, but most of them do not belong to hotels, so their appearance is not always attractive.
  • Relatively new are beaches on pangkor island. This resort was opened recently, but it is already popular among tourists, especially among couples in love who prefer solitude and fabulous sunsets.

Many tourists like these places because of the mild climate, safe even for children, and also because of the opportunity to get out on vacation in the winter, when there is so little sun. Even standing under the scorching rays, the unbearable heat will not be felt, since the winds from the sea will not allow overheating.

Before embarking on a journey through this wonderful country, there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, should be considered weather each region and choose the most favorable time for rest.

It is also important to remember that Malaysia is predominantly Muslim Therefore, it is recommended to adhere to the traditions of the population and not provoke conflicts.

Kuala Lumpur is very modern metropolis, in which both relaxing and active beach holidays are possible, but this city has its own characteristics, and the prices for everything that tourists need, as numerous reviews about this place say, are quite acceptable.

Google Maps/ google.ru

Although literally from the first step the metropolis stuns with noisy motley crowds, bustle, palpable speed of rhythm, even for Muscovites, this is just the first impression. Very close to this "anthill" full of lights and life, there are absolutely quiet, fabulous beaches, where there is nothing but the sound of waves rustling on the sand.

A little about the city

Kuala Lumpur is the central, though not the largest city on the Malay Peninsula, in its southwestern part. Although looking down any tourist brochure or brochure gives the impression of skyscrapers and neon lights, Kuala Lumpur was founded in 1857 and there is more to see than glass and concrete.

Xiquinho Silva / flickr.com

The city has many buildings built in lush French colonial style, no less number of mosques - from old to ultra-modern, there are also Buddhist temple complexes.

In addition to architecture, Kuala Lumpur can offer rich shopping, all kinds of family parks entertainment, aquarium, tropical gardens, many restaurants of various culinary themes and a full nightlife.

All this wonderfully complements relaxation by the sea and makes a beach holiday in Kuala Lumpur truly rich, varied and complete.

About the beaches

In Kuala Lumpur itself, there are no beaches that travelers expect to see. There are excellent wooden walkways with restaurants, cozy gazebos, bungalows, romantic lanterns and great views both on the skyscrapers shining with night lights, and on the water of the Gulf of Malacca.

Indra Gunawan/flickr.com

There are stunning waterfront promenades unlike anything else in Asia, more reminiscent of southern Europe than the East Asian coasts.

All those fabulous and inexpensive Malaysian beaches, which they go to for relaxation and a sense of paradise, are located around Kuala Lumpur, the city serves as a kind of “transit point” between “fairy tale” and “civilization”.

That is why the city often "passes by" travelers who perceive it solely as a transit point. But this perception is not entirely true, since you can live in this metropolis and travel around all the beaches of Malaysia in turn, choosing the best one. This is much more convenient than moving from beach to beach with luggage.

And for those who do not like to go anywhere, but do not want to spend their entire vacation on the sand by the waves, rest in Kuala Lumpur is the best solution, because, although paradise beaches in the metropolis itself and no, just 30 km from it central streets, where most of the hotels are concentrated, there is an excellent beach - Port Dickson.

Therefore, when talking about the beaches of Kuala Lumpur, and not the whole of Malaysia as a whole, they talk about the beach of Port Dickson.

Port Dickson beach

What is so modestly called in tourist booklets - "the beaches of Port Dickson", in fact - 20 kilometers of endless beach complexes extending from small town Port Dixon to Cape Rachado.

There is really everything here, both for a single leisurely relaxation, and for a fun youth holiday, both for family leisure with children of any age, except, of course, the smallest, and to explore the underwater beauties with scuba gear.

At the beach complexes of Port Dickson you can do:

  1. Snorkeling.
  2. Windsurfing.
  3. sailing.
  4. Yacht trips.
  5. Canoeing or a simple walk on them.
  6. riding on water skiing.
  7. Riding on scooters.
  8. Scuba diving.
  9. Underwater photography.
  10. Drinking beach cocktails, both low-alcohol and non-alcoholic.
  11. Walking under the greenery of palm trees, many beaches have beautiful adjoining "groves".

This is far from complete list how you can spend time beach sands close to Kuala Lumpur.

All the beaches located here can be divided into two categories:

  • owned by hotels;
  • municipal.

The term "municipal" often causes a negative biased perception among Russian travelers, which leads to the fact that such places are simply ignored by them. But this is fundamentally wrong. Municipal beaches are no different from those belonging to hotels, and often even surpass them, in any case, in Kuala Lumpur, more precisely, close to it, this is the case.

Private beaches or - owned by hotels, imply an entrance fee, of course, for those who do not live in this hotel. But there is no particular point in staying in them, because if you compare the service, opportunities and conditions directly, absolutely all local hotels are inferior to hotels central regions in Kuala Lumpur. In any case, if we compare the most popular three-star category in Malaysia.

corusparadisepd.com

The only exception is the holiday in January. Each hotel, in addition to the beach, has magnificent pools, which becomes important from late December to early February, when the sea almost looks like jellyfish due to the activity of jellyfish. And, since the season in Malaysia, unlike many other countries, lasts all year round, the demand for seaside hotels in winter time increases noticeably.

There are much more municipal beaches, for visiting which no one needs to pay, than paid ones. There are a lot of them and finding the most ideal for your own vacation will not be difficult.

Each of the beaches has a parking lot, again - municipal, that is, not requiring payment, but the list of activities and, in general, the sea itself are different. Therefore, it is worth renting a car or simply calling a taxi and driving around all absolutely beaches, it will not take much time and will allow you to find that one ideal tropical "fairy tale" that you want to return to again and again.

Special attention it is worth paying attention to two municipal beaches - the Blue Lagoon and Cape Rachado.

Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoonfamily place. There is a picnic area here. There is an opportunity to play beach volleyball and basketball and much more. There is also an active nightlife, but again, all Open Air parties are perfectly decent and family oriented.

There are always a lot of people here, in general the place is very noisy and cheerful. Laughter, screams, some kind of gurgling, loud music - that's what you will meet in the Blue Lagoon. You need to go here with small children, since the bay is very shallow and drowning here is almost impossible, but walking waist-deep in clear water and collect all kinds of pebbles or shells from the bottom is very possible.

The Blue Lagoon is located 15 km south of Port Dickson, that is, from the center of Kuala Lumpur it is about 42-46 km, depending on how you drive. Almost all hotels in the metropolis organize "beach flights", that is, they take them to municipal beaches and pick up their guests from there every day.

You need to sign up for them in advance, and to which beaches and at what time transfers are organized, you should check at the reception at the hotel itself or in advance, at the stage of booking a room in it.

The lagoon itself is hidden among low cliffs covered with forests. Very close is the park-reserve of birds, along which you can also take a walk if you wish, paying 2 ringit for entrance ( local currency). The beach itself is full of bungalows, cozy corners and everything you need for good rest, and boats and canoes just stand on the shore and are available to everyone.

Although the beach is always full of people, find an empty picturesque corner For beautiful photos is not difficult, because the relief of the Blue Lagoon is quite complex, as if divided into many cozy small areas. Winds never happen here, the sea is perfect all year round, except for the period of jellyfish activity, and the purity of sand and water will surprise even the most prejudiced and demanding tourists.

Cape Rachado

Cape Rachado Beach is located at the foot of the Tanjung Tuan cliff, close to the most famous botanical garden-reserve in Malaysia, the entrance to which will cost 2 ringit, however, like any other reserve along the coast.

The reserve is designed for comfortable walks and authentic photos at the same time. All the paths here are paved, so you can safely walk even in the rain. All descents and ascents are equipped with ladders or bridges, with obligatory railings. The plants themselves, however, are not artificially “managed” in any way - this is the most ordinary tropical forest.

All paths lead to the top of the cape, on which stands the Portuguese lighthouse, built back in the 16th century. Of course, since that time it has been reconstructed more than once and looks quite reliable and even modern. The lighthouse is open to the public and you can take stunningly beautiful pictures with sea views from it.

And in good weather, that is, almost always, not only the entire bay is perfectly visible from here, but also the coast of the Indonesian Sumatra, located almost forty kilometers from observation deck lighthouse.

One of the paths leads to the Cape Rachado beach, you can get to it bypassing the reserve, but going through the rainforest with "decent sidewalks" is shorter and more interesting.

The beach is very secluded. It is always sparsely populated, quiet and nothing interferes with either relaxation or enjoying the sounds of the sea and the singing of birds. The water is clear, the sand is almost white. There are a lot of bungalows, hammocks, gazebos and everything else on the territory, and all this is located in very unexpected places.

For those seeking maximum privacy, the option is simply not better. This corner of a lonely paradise and absolute peace is located only 50-55 (depending on the route) kilometers from the center of Kuala Lumpur.

There is no civilization on Cape Rachado, so when going here, you need to remember to take water, food or anything else that you may need. If you want to ride along the most picturesque bay, it will not be difficult to find a canoe or a boat, they stand along the water line.

Of course, in addition to these two beaches that are completely accessible and do not require payment, there are many others, each of which has its own unique charm and its own zest, whether it is underwater photography or sailing races, scooters or leisurely catamarans. There are many beaches near Kuala Lumpur and you just need to find the perfect one among them.

If there is no desire to linger in the metropolis, but there is an intention to see such unusual country, like Malaysia, in general, then from Kuala Lumpur you can go absolutely to any island, to any of the beach complexes or hotels in the country, of which there are a lot.

As travelers tell about their holidays in Kuala Lumpur in reviews, this place is almost universal, here you can find everything for every taste.

Getting around is very easy - to the beaches and back by transfers from the hotel, and on your own - by rented car or taxi. The prices for these services are very low, so there is no need to understand the routes of local bus transport.

The local currency is stably between 13-14 rubles, regardless of the month of the year, prices differ in the same stability, only jellyfish are not stable in Malaysia, and then only in January.

Video: prices, housing and food in Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia is an unusual and vibrant country, not yet spoiled tourism business. Vibrant nightlife is found only in the capital - Kuala Lumpur. But about half of the country's territory is still covered with virgin forests, and the incredible variety of flora and fauna is pleasantly amazing. Vacationers especially like delicious fruits, often completely unfamiliar.

The long coastline has prepared an incredible number of tourists beautiful beaches, mostly desert. sea nature will bring pleasure to divers and divers with its beauty and diversity.

The country is similar to Thailand in climate and nature, and perhaps nothing more. Malaysia is a Muslim state (albeit religiously free), there are no crowds of transvestites, affordable women and men, risky pleasures and entertainment here.

Malaysia is a multinational state, of course, this is reflected in its traditions and culture, which attracts ethnotourists here. This also influenced the cuisine - a bright mixture of Chinese, Malay, Indian culinary traditions.

In terms of life safety, Malaysia is among the best in Asia. Naturally, tourists are also not bad here. It is comfortable to relax in the country, the service is not bad even in inexpensive hotels, a wide variety of attractions, rich excursions, interesting people. But most importantly, Malaysia is hospitable, welcoming and waiting for you.

Prices for holidays in Langkawi. July 2018.

tour cost

A visa is not required for Russian citizens.

We booked tickets in March, flew through Kuala Lampur Qatar Airways with transit through Doha - the cost of a ticket per person turned out to be around 31,000. Tickets to Langkawi by local airlines turned out to be about 3,500 per person round trip.

Prices for hotels on the island are not cheap. A double room (children free) at a boarding house (3 meals a day) cost about 120,000 for 10 days.

Food and products

Food prices are average, about the same as in Moscow - a modest dinner (1-2 dishes per person + dessert for children) for 2 adults and 2 children cost about 3,500 rubles with drinks. We ate in hotel restaurants, in city prices are more affordable, there are fast foods with more budget prices, about the same as in Moscow.

Souvenirs and other goods

There are many DUTY FREE shops on the island, the range of which is the same as duty-free shops at airports. Prices seemed to us even a little more expensive than at the airport. Most of all, I was surprised by the prices for fruits, mango for 300 rubles / kg, passion fruit - 350 rubles / kg - very expensive, while the quality leaves much to be desired, the assortment is practically absent.

What to take with you on vacation?

Adapter for socket. There are so-called British sockets in the country, which differ from ours in three holes and distance. Some hotels provide on request. But it is better to make sure in advance, at the airport they are very expensive.

Where is the best place to stay?

The hotel is best, choose in tourist area Bukit Bintang, close to shops and good road junction. From there, you can conveniently and quickly get to all the sights. I took small hotel, with maximum positive feedback about the cleanliness, freshness of the interior. As a rule, the first category of rooms has no windows and is minimal in area, literally there is only room for a bed. This is really enough, considering that you are practically not in the hotel. And when you sleep, the absence of a window is very handy: you can sleep in silence and darkness until the morning. The cost for hotels 3 stars, an average of $ 50. Majority budget hotels work without power. They basically don't have a restaurant or cafe in the building itself. But there are no problems with food, mini-markets and cafes are within walking distance, so there is where to eat. There is a kettle in the room.

What to do at the resort?

Sky BAR is a very cool lounge bar with a direct view of the Petronas Towers. Here you can relax, drink cocktails, make new friends and make very cool photos. Great atmosphere. Mostly European audience. Quality music. Everyone is open to communication. Here they get acquainted. It is best to arrive at sunset to catch the city in the sun and at night.

KLCC Park - a park in the city center. Free admission. You can just walk and enjoy nature. On the bridge, you get cool photos on the handicap of the towers. In the center of the park there is a public swimming pool where anyone can take a dip. Large playground. The park is so conveniently located that a walk can be combined with a visit to the aquarium and shopping center.

Suria KLCC - mall, lot interesting brands which I have not seen in other Asian countries. Here I recommend visiting on the 4th floor of Petrosains, The Discovery Center. Some would say it's just for kids. But believe me, there is so much interesting. Interactive museum with advanced technologies. You can learn and bring into action the technologies of modern civilization. I personally made many discoveries for myself. At 20:00, a light and music show of fountains takes place next to the shopping center building.

Batu Caves is the second business card Kuala Lumpur and the whole country. A grandiose statue and a tall staircase. It will take quite a bit of strength to get to the top. But it's worth it. I really liked the atmosphere and energy of the temples located inside the caves. You have to be careful on the stairs, besides a large number pilgrims and tourists are many wild monkeys.

Putrajaya - new administrative center Malaysia. I would call it a "perfect city", because. whole city was built at the end of the 20th century in accordance with modern requirements and a specific plan. It's really perfect and it's like it's not real. It felt like we were the only creatures in this city. We walked along the promenade and had lunch. I recommend visiting the Putra Mosque.

Malaysian resorts will give you unforgettable vacation and a lot of impressions. Here everyone will find a place to their liking: lovers a relaxing holiday, party-goers, eco-tourists, divers, those who like excursions and new information. Almost in every tourist place there are wild corners with a small number of people, and lively places, great for nightlife, shopping and entertainment. But in general, each resort has its own characteristics and it is better to go somewhere for party-goers, somewhere for savages and eco-tourists, and somewhere for divers. To help you make a choice, we have written this short review resorts in Malaysia.

Located off the north west coast Malaysia and is connected to the mainland by a 13.5 km long bridge (the third longest in the world). Thus, you can get here not only by air and water, but also by land. Area - 285 sq. km. It traces its history from the end of the 18th century, when the British settled here. The capital is Georgetown. It has a lot of ancient sights.

But still, tourists come here mostly for a beach holiday. The most popular places are located on the north coast. Although Penang has a long coastline, good places not much for swimming. There is a lot of mud on most of the territory and entry into the water is difficult. Plus, transport scurrying back and forth next to such places does not add joy to the rest. But there are also bathing places, Batu Ferringhi is especially popular.

In general, the island of Penang is not for a wild and secluded holiday. But here lovers of "movement", nightlife, shopping centers and attractions. A wide choice of restaurants with dishes from all over the world, many bars and discos. In short, the entire infrastructure is more than well developed. This Malaysian resort can be visited all year round, although it can rain from September to November.

Located off the western coast of the mainland. Dimensions 4x12 km. This is an even wilder and more unspoiled place than the previous Malaysian resort. Ideal for a secluded beach holiday, snorkeling and diving. Its main attraction is small fishing villages that have almost completely preserved their traditional way of life. For shopping and entertainment (especially at night) Pangkor is completely unsuitable. The best time to visit is from March to October when there is little rain.

Redang Island

Redang is the most major island in the archipelago of the same name. Dimensions 6x7 km. Located off the northeast coast of mainland Malaysia. Here is the National marine reserve with a rich underwater world: 500 species of corals, 300 species of fish, there are several ships sunk in the war. Therefore, it is not surprising that many divers have chosen these places. It is also good for a quiet and secluded holiday, since there are enough hotels. The best time to visit this Malaysian resort is April-September when the water is at its purest.

Tioman Island

Tioman Island is located 40 km from east coast mainland Malaysia. Dimensions 12x20 km. It is the largest in the area. Almost everyone considers it the best in the country for diving and wild beach holidays. Nature is almost untouched by man. There are many beaches, where only the sea, palm trees, sand and no bars, shops, travel agencies. Diving enthusiasts will be pleasantly surprised by the wealth sea depths: 130 kinds of coral and 300 kinds of fish. There are over 20 dive sites.

This Malaysian resort will not offer you large shopping and nightlife. But since this is a duty-free zone, the prices are low, especially for alcohol and cigarettes. There are no high-rise buildings, all hotels are detached bungalows and cottages. There are no man-made sights, but there are many natural beauties. Excursions to the small islands surrounding Tioman are popular.

Borneo Island

The island of Borneo is called Kalimantan by the Malays. His northern part occupied by Malaysia and Brunei, and the rest by Indonesia. These places are little studied by Russian and other tourists. People come here for eco-tourism, hiking through the virgin jungle, exploring caves, to get to know the tribes living in the depths of the island. Not last place takes diving and beach holidays. In large cities, you can get acquainted with interesting sights, Muslim mosques. But, basically, this Malaysian resort is rich in natural beauty: unique flora and fauna, waterfalls, caves, mountains and forests. All this can be seen in National parks Borneo.
